High school girls were sucked into a separate dimension to become magical girls. There was no training or anything, they just got put into a costume and were told they had to fight giant toothpick-shaped machines or else they would die. Me and my brother were sucked in too, not to become magical girls, but to help the existing girls fight because they had no experience. In the end, the Magical Girl Headquarters were impaled by the machines, but the magical girls dodged it.

since were on the topic of animes tonight, what do you reccomend to someone (me) who isn't an anime watcher?
Huh, see, that's a hard ask because anime is at it's core just a Type of Media. There's anime for kids, there's anime for horror fans, there's anime for action movie junkies, there's anime for comedy lovers, there's anime for romance suckers, fantasy enjoyers, sci-fi nerds, murder mystery, animal lovers, people who like a bunch of pervy fan service, people who love it when the characters are doomed by the narrative, love it when The Power of Love and Friendship saves the day, love it when The Power of Love and Friendship ain't worth shit.
I can't really tell you what anime is good for you because I don't know you. But if you know what you like in things like books or movies or video games, there's definitely an anime for you to enjoy.

Rebecca Lee Crumpler, born Rebecca Davis, (February 8, 1831 – March 9, 1895), was an American physician, nurse and author. After studying at the New England Female Medical College, in 1864 she became the first African American woman to become a doctor of medicine in the United States. Crumpler was also one of the first female physician authors in the nineteenth century. In 1883, she published A Book of Medical Discourses. The book has two parts that cover the prevention and cure of infantile bowel complaints, and the life and growth of human beings. Dedicated to nurses and mothers, it focuses on maternal and pediatric medical care and was among the first publications written by an African American on the subject of medicine.

Second sketch batch of the Lady Bugs, this time with Lady Beetle and Lady Bug!
It took me... so long to figure out Beetle's hair... so long...
Visual note time, baby!
I made around twenty sketches for Binna's hair- I wanted something that was pulled up to look "short" because Marisol and Elle already have much longer hair, but I didn't want tit to be full-on "two uber shorthaired girls and two really longhaired ones".
Her surname was taken from Albert Koebele.
Binna's hair color ALSO took forever, but I'm happy I went with the brown.
I mentioned when talking about Siby that she was based off of Sailor Mercury, but a lot of the visual choices I made were inspired by Sailor Moon for this team- like how Marisol is the most visually distinct among the girls, and everyone else has more "realistic" hair/less shocking silhouettes.
I love drawing Marisol's hair. I don't remember the inspiration anymore but the cartoony swirls bring me joy.
I intend for every girl in this team to have a splash of red in their civvy forms, but I feel like I made Binna's red the weakest. If she keeps this dress I'm color swapping the polka dots and the bg white.
Marisol's outfit was not intended to be so heavy with the red, but honestly I like it this way.
Unlike the rest of the girls who are named after entomologists, Marisol's name is based purely off of the connection between the name Mary has with ladybugs and the fact ladybugs are beetles.

PLUTO | And her peers. Who would you be?
I’ve wanted to redo this piece from the Violent Pink book with Pluto and her classmates. It allowed me to expand the cast of students and discover more about them. The original piece is from over seven years ago!! 😵💫

I was back in 3rd grade and the world was in black and white. My first grade teacher told me that the only way to bring colour back to the world was to summon my ✨👻spirit Pokémon👻✨, it was a Galade, I rode on its back and got a magical girl ribbon.
