Phoebe “Pepper” Doyle was born in a little town at the base of the Smoky Mountains. Born the middle triplet and the only girl of the three, Pepper grew trying to prove herself to anyone around her. She was competitive in the pack, and even though things were peaceful, she had a way of spicing things up because she wanted to prove she could be someone. At the same time, Pepper got obsessed with boys at a relatively early age. She romanticized and she fantasized, and she liked to pretend that she was a delicate princess and wanted to charm some tougher wolf to her side. The problem with that? Pepper Doyle also liked to get down in the dirt and roll around and prove she was a tough badass werewolf. And life could have kept going this way with playing around with the pack and enjoying the sheer power of being a wolf and flirting with the boys in the pack and others in town. That stopped when she and her brothers had to go to a regular high school. Pepper realized that werewolves were the unwanted of magicks. That some people hated them. It made her question what they were taught and how the world was. She threw herself into practicing her drums and pretending the drums were people that made her angry. It felt almost cathartic, and she embraced the joy of making music. She would spend late afternoons at school pouring her heart into it all. That was when she met him. He transferred in from another town, his dad was in the army, and he told Pepper he loved how she played. Pepper was soon smitten with the guy. And somehow he was into her. She learned more about music and love that year, and she didn’t think much about her magick status or how that might seem. One day she spoke about her pack with him…and it went downhill from there.  She was quickly dumped, after being told the worst things about who she was and what a werewolf appeared to be to others. It devastated her. So she did what she’d done before and poured herself into music. She wrote songs about it, she tried to process it but there was an ache there that didn’t quite go away. And then they got big. And bigger, and their band was known and they were stars. And Pepper basked in the thrill of fame and of having their music out there and tried to forget about that boy back home that couldn’t accept everything that made her special. She could be a star! The only thing was…her brothers both seemed to care so much about being noticed by the spotlight, they somehow also forgot to give her the time that she wanted to shine.   But there was no time for Pepper to be angry or resentful. There was no time to think about her needs, not with her brothers’ relationship starting to go up in flames. She tried everything she could to keep them all together, but then it all fell apart on stage and Pepper could hardly think about anything but the fact that it was over. Their careers were a bust, her family was in ruins, and her brother disappeared.  At first Pepper tried to get a handle on any scraps of a career that she could get. But her blessing became a bit of a hindrance, and she never made any headway. She felt like she was just barely staying afloat, and no matter how many times she tried to talk to her brother about finding Lucky again…she hit a dead end.  So now Pepper had enough. She was going to figure out where her other brother went, and she was going to try and bring him back home no matter what. The trail was hard to follow, but in the end she did find some sort of trace of him in the middle of some tiny little town in England. She packed her bags and took off, not wanting to wait another moment. She would find Lucky and then? Well… then they would both figure out what the next step should be.

Darius was born on the Boiling Isles in a town called Palm’s Sting, located on the hand of the Titan. His parents owned a small general store that serviced residents with reagents and other magical ingredients. Sorcerers by trade, the Deammon family did not participate in the traditional paths of a Boiling Isles family, homeschooling their children in the ways of magic and staying uninvolved in their covens, though they did join to avoid a fuss. More than anything, they wanted to keep to themselves and continue the family business, which is what was expected of Darius and his siblings. However, the young sorcerer had other dreams. He wanted to learn about magic in its fullness, go to school like the other children, and become something great, rather than withering away in obscurity on the furthest reaches of the Titan. This caused a lot of tension with his family, particularly his parents, who did not accept his wishes, nor his blossoming gender identity. Eventually, Darius took life into his own hands, enrolling himself in Hexside Academy and moving to Bonesborough with nothing more than the clothes on his back. While Darius did struggle for some time, it wasn’t long before he caught the attention of a sorcerer who would change his life forever. Caleb Belos, the Golden Guard of the emperor himself, found young Darius doing his Hexside homework on the streets, and decided to take him under his wing. He not only saw great magical potential, but also a kid in need of support, which he was more than happy to provide. He gave the boy a place to stay and helped him find his footing in magic–as it turned out, he was particularly gifted in Animation and Abomination magic. Due to his connections, it was easy for Caleb to help Darius join the Animation and Abomination coven after his Hexside graduation and quickly, he climbed his way up the ranks to eventually become the coven head. For a time, Darius was a dedicated coven head, loyal to the emperor and doing his bidding without question. Then, one day, Caleb disappeared without a word. According to the emperor, his Golden Guard had filed for retirement, and left the Isles to live the rest of his life in secluded peace. It would have been a heartbreaking revelation for Darius, had he believed it. But he knew Caleb better than anyone, better than the emperor himself, and he knew this story had to be a fabrication. While he spent years trying to figure out what actually happened to his beloved mentor, the mystery eluded him and he was forced to carry on business as usual.  Eventually, the Golden Guard was replaced by a new relative of Belos–Hunter, a young boy eager to please. Darius watched on with distaste, but soon began to notice patterns similar to Caleb, particularly in how the emperor treated him. So when Hunter disappeared to Swynlake, he began to fear that history was about to repeat itself. The first member of the Septarians, Seth, was said to have come into being sometime around the VII century -there’s only so many beings that could prove or disprove this, or any of Seth’s claims about his origins or nature.

It took around one century before Seth found more (albeit younger) beings like himself: a group that he would name ‘Septarians’ and which would eventually settle on what today is Mjaunie, Denmark.

Once upon a time, Magicks were revered as Gods

Once upon a time, Mundus were meant to serve the Gods.

Once upon a time, those who were neither Gods or humans were called ‘monsters’

Septarians thus became known as monsters.

2: one who deviates from normal or acceptable behavior or character

Immortal: 

Adjective-  exempt from death, able or tending to divide indefinitely

Time continued its natural circle, but the Septarians found themselves completely unable to die, thus becoming trapped into the cyclical nature of conflict and conquest, of humanity overcoming those who had been previously revered as Gods and slowly, but surely, taking their place.

Septarians saw Earls come and go. Kings rise and fall from power, Nations be born and die.

Until one day, the Magick Perhonen lineage came to Mjaunie.

The Perhonen would establish themselves in what used to be ‘monster’ lands, promptly turning them into ‘something more useful’: a human-magick settlement amongst whom they would reign as Countesses.

Slowly, but surely, the ‘monsters’ were either kicked out of their lands or assimilated into the newly founded County of Maujnie as third-class citizens: things to be feared, to be wary of, an ugly reminder of uncivilized times.

Septarians were divided into two classes: those who resisted the occupation and those who went along with it.

Tófi, “son” of Seth, would eventually join the latter group: going so far as offering his services as an historian and advisor for the Perhonen dynasty -his function for the reigning family being that of a ever-suffering teacher to their youngest, parroting Mjaunie’s new history for their amusement.

3: a threatening force 

 Regicide: 

Regicide is the killing of a monarch or sovereign of a polity.

Things did not get better for ‘monsters’.

Generations came and went, the Perhonen solidifying their power generation after generation -generation after generation pushing ‘the unwanted’ away from their old lands, transforming them into their own.

Seth’s distrust of the dynasty finally seemed justified: everything he’d predicted had come to pass and his push back, his resistance, towards the colonists eventually became more solid: a rebellion.

A rebellion Tófi would eventually join, going as far as being the one to deliver the killing blow to then Grevinde Comitessa “Comet” Perhonen during a what had been meant to be Peace Banquet.

This act would force his most cherished friend and past student, Menodora “Moon”, to strike him down in turn, using an unknown kind of magic that somehow managed to partially nullify Tófi’s regeneration abilities, which then allowed her to vanquish him from the County. 

4: one that is highly successful 

Philanthropist: 

Noun -  a person who seeks to promote the welfare of others, especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.

The now-exiled man then wandered across Denmark, playing along the farce others had created a long time ago, he’d pretend to be one of them, a man that tried to be better, more civilized, than any Magick or Mundus; Kinder, smarter, all around superior.

Thus Torvald Sæther was born: Lawyer, Philanthropist, unexplainably rich and knowledgeable of Denmark’s history, the youngest of a line of men oddly similar to one another and who’d never been seen in the same room at the same time.

Torvald Sæther: Silent Magick hater. Torvald Sæther: Silent Mundus hater.

Torvald Sæther: the one who had come to the realization that Magic had been the problem all along, that that had been the tool with which his whole, the life of his people, had been ruined with -and who made, in turn, his life mission to destroy back.

Character Information 

Wade Ripple was born at the tail end of winter, something his mother and father were not expecting. He was meant to be born on the first day of spring, but ultimately arrived a few weeks early. This did not seem to have much effect on development though, which was a relief to his parents. They already had one child, and were excitedly anticipating their second, Wade. Shortly after he was born, his mother made a quip about how he was likely born early on purpose, as he was now a pisces instead of an aries, which made significantly more sense for his emotional personality. Of course, their whole family was quite in touch with their feelings, and Wade was raised to never shy away from them. To embrace all emotions, good and bad. Growing up as a middle child was definitely an experience, as Wade got to see the world as both a younger sibling, and an older one. When he was younger, Wade would always engage in imaginative play with both of his siblings, and formed a very close relationship with them and his mother. However, his father and he had a bit of a complicated relationship. They just didn’t see the world the same. Wade was more of a go with the flow kind of kid, and still is, but his father had a more serious approach to life and was often criticizing Wade’s view of things. He definitely grew up more attached to his mother, who is a very emotional individual such as himself, and distanced himself from his father. However, when Wade was around sixteen, his father suddenly passed away, and Wade found himself deeply regretting not trying to enjoy his time with his father more, or fix that connection. It’s a regret that he still carries with him to this day, and because of it, he is always trying to find ways to make meaningful and perhaps long lasting connections with people. He tries now to enjoy his time with people and live in the moment, as you never know when your last moments with them are going to happen. Living in Enchantra Hollow most of his life, Wade was a bit sheltered. His family were very close knit, and didn’t stray too much outside of the comfort of their home. Of course, Enchantra Hollow housed many magical creatures, thus he’s always been exposed to it. It’s normal to him, and Wade fell in love with magic growing up. He enjoys practicing his own and honing his talents, and though he understands that not all people view magic the same, it has always brought him a sense of pride. Still, that did not stop his curiosity of the lives that others lived, magicks or mundus. In fact, it was the mundus that he was genuinely curious about, to know what it was like to live without magic. The thought had always been in his mind, growing up. When he was old enough, his mother recommended that he move to Swynlake, to see more of the world and experience it first hand, as he never really got the chance to prior. Though nervous, Wade took this as an opportunity to expand his horizons, and hopefully meet new friends.

A life is made of moments. A finite number of moments that would bring you joy, loss, triumphs and failures.

Trixie had watched those moments on so many humans. From the safety of her rafters in her cathedral Trixie watched those begin their lives, take wobbling steps, first loves and marriages. She watched humans pray for a miracle and watch lives come to an end. Over and over and it was beautiful. Pages upon pages became covered with sketches of stories that she heard. Trixie had put together stories of those around her.

But they were not her stories, they were not her moments. She was an outsider, longing for moments of her own.

Her story started simple, An eldest daughter, a guardian to the same cathedral her parents were, that her younger siblings would. A small clan in a small village in France.

She didn't know who she was.

But she was optimistic to learn, starting her journey away from her family. She attempted job after job, exploring passions she never would have had a chance to.

She attempted love, though that was a failure at the mention of who she was.

She attempted to be a guardian in other ways, as a nurse, a caretaker.

She attempted to be creative as a writer and then creative as a baker.

But in-between these moments, these tiny slivers of stories. Trixie experienced loss and war and death and major advancements.

It was kind of exhausting.

These days, Trixie longs for the quiet morning of the cathedral. After almost hundred years of moments of loss, of pain, of War and death. She's not sure if her long story is worth continuing around humans and mortals or if she should return home. To be the guardian she was meant to be.

Even after all this time Trixie still isn't too sure who she is.
