I absolutely love how PMMM doesn’t present Sayaka’s choices and pain as “foolish teenage girl nonsense”. Sure, Sayaka refers to herself as foolish, but she made a very normal, relatable wish for a 14 year old girl and the pain it causes her is because of an evil system designed to amplify the pain of normal teenage girl experiences. When Madoka saves her she doesn’t berate her, just loves her.
PMMM just makes me think about how much better the world would be if we were kinder to teenage girls. And reminds me of how powerful a teen girl’s heart can be in the face of evil, corrupt systems designed to belittle them.
