Issue 41 of my mail art assembling zine The Rubber Postcard are in the mail. Submissions are open for issue 43 (Issue 42 is already full and will go out in early April). Submission Guidelines: Postcard size work: 4x6 inches (10.16x15.24 centimeters) Rubber stamp/eraser/found stamp work only. A small amount of drawing or coloring in is ok but not excessively so. No collage please(there are plenty of other zines for that kind of work). 13 multiples or individual pieces signed and numbered. Only original hand stamped work please(no photocopies). There is no theme. Deadline: Ongoing(issues will be sent out as enough work arrives to be collated). Message me for the address if you need it.

[ENG below] é uma coletânea de citações e poemas selecionados por Marcia Rosenberger, há mais de uma década... ou duas... O texto, ora em português, ora em inglês, dialoga com imagens abstratas numa tentativa de subverter o padrão tradicional dos livros ilustrados. A escolha de imagens abstratas permite ao leitor uma fonte inesgotável de interpretações e significados, cabendo-lhe a tarefa de criar suas próprias relações entre imagem-texto.

As colagens analógicas foram criadas pela artista a partir de mini recortes que seriam destinados ao descarte, sobras de outras imagens recortadas. Como no efeito em loop os papéis recebem novos destinos compondo novos significados.

Os textos em inglês foram mantidos em seu idioma original, pois este zine é destinado à rede de arte correio, assim mais artistas postais podem se identificar com as referências nele contidas e também ter acesso à nossa língua.

Um zine - derivado de revista - é um livreto publicado de forma independente ou autopublicada, geralmente criado por uma única pessoa. Os zines são normalmente criados cortando e colando fisicamente texto e imagens em uma superfície master para fotocópia, mas também é comum produzir o master digitando e formatando páginas em um computador. O produto final geralmente é dobrado e grampeado. Os zines podem ser impressos e encadernados de qualquer maneira. A impressão offset é uma alternativa relativamente comum à fotocópia, embora haja alguma controvérsia entre os redatores de zines sobre se os produtos impressos profissionalmente podem ser definidos como zines.

Poetry.Zine

is a collection of quotes and poems selected by Marcia Rosenberger, more than a decade ago… or two… The text, sometimes in Portuguese, sometimes in English, dialogues with abstract images in an attempt to subvert the traditional pattern of illustrated books . The choice of abstract images allows the reader an inexhaustible source of interpretations and meanings, leaving them with the task of creating their own relationships between image and text.

The analog collages were created by the artist from mini cutouts that would have been destined for disposal, leftovers from other cut images. As in the loop effect, the roles receive new destinations, composing new meanings.

The texts in English were kept in their original language, as this zine is intended for the Mail Art network, so more mail artists can identify with the references contained in it and also have access to our language.
