Hi!

Just wanted to say that I absolutely love “Lilly white, poppy red”. It’s a unique take on the Azula Azula role swap Au and I am enjoying it immensely!

I am also looking forward to the eventual Zuko time travel Au. I am especially looking forward to the “general Azula badassery” and to “Azula and Katara’s devastating new rivalry, that threatens to end the world before Ozai does”. Rivals Azula/Katara is a fun dynamic to read.

Speaking of Azula/Katara though…

I hope you’d don’t mind if I headcanon that they get together following the conclusion of both stories? Is it weird to have a headcanon of a fanfic that in no way actually influences said fic? Definitely. Am I still going to do so? Also yes. And in regards with the time travel Au, I am a sucker for Azutara rivals to lovers.

I'm so glad you like my fic, writing Azula has been a blast. I can't wait to write more ... especially of Azula and Katara, they somehow wrote themselves out to be one of the best dynamics. So, I have a friend who beta reads my fic, and they randomly commented on a scene that was smth like "really going for the Azula/Katara huh?" and I was SHOOK. I never intended it but damn ... I can see it. So even though I'm not going to write romance, you are so valid in your hc. Also the fact that you're hcanoning at all??? Omg so honoured.

I actually started this fic thinking of MaiTyZula, cause I really like that trio (and I'm very meh on ships and just wanna write fun character dynamics). But while Mai and Ty Lee are probably girlfriends in the background, Azula is ... very into blue after all :D

I think I finally decided about if Maizulee has kids or not in my AU. They have one. A girl.

She's friendly like Ty Lee and cunning like Azula and stylish like Mai. She's bubbly and awkward and easily bored. She's never going to be Firelord.

I won't pretend that the Dangerous Ladies are the best moms ever. They're not. But they love their daughter very much, and so they fumble their way through this parenthood thing together.

I‘m having “azula is banished and mai and ty lee leave with her“ brainrot for the last few weeks so now y’all have to deal with too. but??? the potential it has???

• let’s say things are kinda very different and somehow, it’s Azula who has to fight the general in a Agni Kai, and she’s ready to — but when she sees that it‘s Ozai she has to fight, she doesn’t do it too. Because that’s what she was taught her whole life — Ozai is her one and only superior. And she is scared of him. So she miscalculates and thinks that‘s what expected of her — she bows. And that’s when shit officially goes down.

• and later that night — her last night in the palace, Azula is laying in her room and she has a big burn on her neck, going all the way up to her chin. She can’t sleep because it hurts, and she’s very exhausted, but her mind doesn’t let her. And she is still trying to breathe normally because it hard to with her neck damaged.

(and she’s crying bc she doesnt know where she’ll go and her neck hurts as fuck)

• so that’s the moment when Mai and Ty Lee sneak in? and Azula immediately thinks that someone coming to finish her, because the whole court knows she’s weak — but she can even rise from her bed because of the injury, so she tries to breathe fire. Which is not something you should do with a burned throat. so it hurts even worse, and she feels absolutely helpless, and then sees that it’s Mai and Ty Lee who came to finish her, so she starts straight up hysterically sobbing.

• and then it’s just Mai and Ty Lee trying to explain to her that they did not actually came to kill her? Like very softly.

so they stay with Azula for the night because there actually can be people who can try and use Azula’s injury. So they all are laying in Azula’s bed trying to understand what they are going to do next, because Mai and Ty Lee are insisting on going with her, and Azula has this whole “ you can’t go with me i have nowhere to go” fit, because they all understand it’s impossible to find the Avatar. and it’s all very soft because they are babies and fall asleep all curled up, and Azula keeps crying in her sleep because her neck hurts under the bandages.

• they stay on the ship with Iroh exactly until Azula’s neck heals, and that‘s when they steal some ship from the colonies and leave. the ship still has the team on it and azula has the nerve to announce to them that she bought the ship and that means they are working for her now.

• Azula has a very raspy voice because her vocal chords were severely damaged. • Ty Lee has a little plant collection in their cabin which Mai secretly enjoys a lot taking care of.

• and now because Mai is not suppressed by her parents anymore, she starts drawing a lot

• and they are still babies and very young, but also very in love even though they don’t really realise it? but they are like super close and uh

• and then the avatar awakes.

-maizulee au in which zuko and Mai are exes so Mai throws papers at his window to annoy him in the middle of the night bc it was a Bad Breakup but she accidentally gets Azula’s window while she’s having a sleepover with ty Lee. Tyzula is established and Mai hangs out with them to bother zuko, but then oh??? She genuinely likes them??? Mai and zuko make up eventually and she’s like btw I’m now in love with your sister and Zuko’s like,,,oh?

-yuetara ice skating au. Katara’s a hockey player and Yue is a figure skater and they’re both captains of their respective teams and argue about who gets the ice today etc etc. It’s rivals to lovers slow burn yuetara‼ idk where it would go from there,,,I can see it many different ways

-this one is actually a wip so pls don’t steal💀sukka childhood friends to lovers fic where Suki is adopted or fostered and her parents aren’t the greatest, they kind of favor the ‘real‘ children of theirs so sometimes Suki sneaks out her windows to meet up with Sokka. They end up dating in high school and into college but then break up- not sure why yet- and then Suki gets a rebound guy who Sokka HATES. There’s more to it than that but yeah just jealousy, angst, and childhood love :)

-haunting of bly manor yuetara au with the moon spirit as viola, yue as dani (heterochromia yue<3) and katara as Jamie (PLANT GAY KATARA !!!) and Hannah as Suki maybe, and Sokka as Owen (it fits it fits it DOES) anyways I just think this would be so interesting...I’ve always kind of wanted to write something where instead of it took Yue’s life all at once, the moon spirit slowly drew her away in a way similar to viola slowly growing over dani so this idea makes me so excited

-wandavision esque au with Azula as scarlet witch and ty Lee as Vision. Something happens to ty lee and Azula has a breakdown similar to wandas in ep 8(I think) and yeah. I don’t have much for this au lol

-the way I loved you (Taylor swift) au with kataang as ‘perfect relationship’ from the verses and katoph as the ‘screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain’. the way I loved you always has and always will be a comphet- or at least wlw- song to me due to personal experiences so I’d love this tbh

-i love maiko but I dont have any ideas for them I’m sorry </3

-katyzutoph (cannot explain how much I hate that ship name) au where they just. Chill and live together post war? Idk but I just want to see them together 😭 being their only shipper is tiring y’all

Maizula and Yuezula ?

ohhh ty!

Maizula is A - i love it, but more i love the potential of their dynamic that necessarily shipping them if that makes sense? its a pairing that is totally slept on even though i think it is one of the more compelling (and likely to have actually occured) azula ships.

I tend to hc mai as nominally straight, or at least primarily interesting in dating men, but that she might experiment. so i usually imagine azula being more invested than mai. But then, they are both aware that mai is really interested in zuko, and azula is all tied up with ty lee, so whatever happens between them is kind of casual but steeped in so much baggage and like... unspoken feelings of resentment and jealousy or whatever. Maybe for mai, azula would be a way of rebelling but at the same time, she ends up bending to azula so in a way she ends up not rebelling at all. Im definitely planning a maityzula fic that will explore maizula bc omg it needs more content!!! If anyone has maizula recs id love them.

Yuezula is a pairing ive never really thought much about except when a couple of fanarts passed by my dash. So at this point i'd say C - not a bad ship. Obviously they never have a chance to encounter each other in universe as yue dies before azula really leaves the capital, and also they would be enemies as the princesses of nations at war, but there are some things that work for the pairing. Like, both royals, both self sacrificing, they both have strong connections to their culture. They also seem quite different, with yue appearing to be warm and friendly, compared to how prickly azula is. It falls kind of short bc yue is basically written a blank slate gf for sokka. We dont know much about her personality besides being sweet, dutiful, and that she thinks sokka is charming. Her role in the narrative is quite passive also - she is a love interest and then she dies. So ... its hard for me to really imagine how azula and yue might interact besides yue seeing her as an antagonist. Apparently there is a good yuezula fic around? But ive never read it.

Stolen Dumplings

They grew apart, and then they grew up.

Ty Lee stood on the platform, watching her friends on opposite sides, feeling like a child again.

Feeling like they were all children again, fighting over dumplings they stole from the kitchen. Even back then, she had never liked picking sides.

(Azula hurt them. A lot. And it wasn’t something Ty Lee was just going to forgive. It wasn’t just what happened in the last year of the war - Azula had never been nice. There was just so much history, and so much to work through, so much built up fear and resentment.

But there were also moments, in between everything else, stolen moments and stolen dumplings, and maybe that had been worth something too.)

helloooo! today im going to say my fav atla ships. Fair warning I’m a multishipper so there is A Lot. (These are in no particular order)

- sukka

hhhhh them<3 I’m obsessed with them!!! They were my very first atla ship and they are very dear to me. my favorite canon atla ship for sure. I love their dynamic and it’s just!!! So wholesome!!!

- maiko

they are overhated </3 so amazing!!! They fit well together and have some really cute moments. The whole childhood friends to lovers thing they have? amazing. love it. they are,,,so dear to me.

- katoph

Katara and Toph rights!!! Absolute gfs. The dynamic is unmatched. best friends. love them. katoph content on avatar studios that’s all I want 💔 I think the episode where they go to the spa together and Katara called Toph pretty was when I started shipping them and I loved them ever since :’)

i really like this one bc azula just seems to trust ty lee and is much softer with her sometimes, and ty lee seems to genuinely like Azula. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I believe Mai and ty lee genuinely liked being friends with Azula before her mental health declined so much. anyways I think tyzula is just very neat and I love them<3

I actually started shipping this quite recently!! I love tyzula, and tophzula, and katoph, and just recently read the ty Lee and Toph comic so my kind just immediately jumped here. They’d be so cute!!! I know all female poly ships (especially ones that have more than three) aren’t popular in this fandom but like I actually love this a lot??? I think they’d be pretty awesome together and since I hc ty Lee as an air nomad descendant it would be like the four nations.
