still thinking about night
when they moved to bangkok, night (still a kid himself) would've been the one taking care of day until their mom came home (what is their age difference btw?). when he got older he became a party boy who went into the nightclub business; can't imagine their mom was thrilled about that. dude spends the bulk of the show being blamed for causing day's accident and just generally not being a good enough big brother (he does eventually get a "i forgive you", though sadly not a "sorry i was an asshole"). feels like such a third wheel at their family dinner that he straight up tries to leave, and then starts to cry because day remembered what food he likes. at his own pre-wedding blessing, his own mother doesn't say anything nice about him. and most of what we see of the wedding is night and his new wife running around to matchmake for day. but also like the entire raison d'être of this whole-ass relationship is to illustrate a Big Point for day's benefit
representation for the all parentified kids who can also never do anything right! but like, representation that's TOO FUCKING REAL, you know?

Ok, so just to sum this up:
David is Georgia’s husband
Georgia is David’s wife
David is Michael’s lover
and Michael is David’s boyfriend
Georgia is Anna’s wife and vice versa
Anna is Michael’s partner/girlfriend
And David, Neil and Michael together make an ineffable sandwich
… did I get that right?

Rewatching Season 1, just closed Episode 7 again, and now I'm thinking about Jim.
Jim, who lost their father right in front of them.
Who inherited a legacy of revenge they never wanted.
Who was taught over and over again that life is pain and disappointment and burden.
Who left home all alone in the world to get their vengeance at their Nana's advice.
Who found Oluwande as a way into Spanish Jackie's proximity to get the man who stole their whole life.
Who ran away with Oluwande at their heels, the first time they've run with someone running with them.
Who had to hide and lie and keep their lips sealed to board The Revenge and did so with only a single ally they could trust.
Who had to slowly learn how to talk, not in the literal sense, but metaphorically, to be vulnerable.
Who saw their Nana again and let themselves be sent back to a life of settling a tiresome grudge.
Who had to decide, for the very first time themselves, that they wanted the good out of life.
About Jim who went back home, to The Revenge.
Who got back just in time to kiss Oluwande and hold him close and bed him in their shared room. Who lost him just as quickly. Who was alone again, but in an entirely new way. Who woke up with a pounding headache pinned under glowering eyes. Who's been pushed to the breaking point of killing and raiding without a cause to believe in.
Who still held so much heart and longing for closeness. Who told Fang stories to help him stop crying and laugh, who even did the little wooden boy voice to make sure it worked. Who started to fall for Archie in the middle of all the hurt and cold loneliness that took a hold of their home, of their Revenge, the only one they've ever really cared for.
And then... just when Ed seemed to be getting better than he had in a while, they were in a storm. Surrounded by screaming weather and getting soaked with rain. And as they find themselves staring down the barrel of death, only hours or minutes from complete destruction and erasure, they are commanded to snuff out their recent string of hope.
And Blackbeard cackles as he tells them all love dies, he was just hastening the process.
And it hit them again, with the same force as Archie's fist hits their jaw... it's the same thing.
"Life is pain."
"Life is disappointing."
"Life is pointless if you aren't mad and making a statement."
The world was telling them again, that was how it worked.
And they didn't listen. They didn't bend to the universal law they kept having barked into their face. Instead they reached down, and pulled Archie to her feet. And Jim pressed their forehead into hers. Knowing they were going to die soon. It was just a fact, Blackbeard was always going to blow the mast, no matter if they listened.
So Jim was going to stop fighting. Stop scrambling desperate and scrappy to survive. They were just going to hold the little bit of love they had within reach, and wait for the Life that's aways been hard to end.

Ok I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this before but I saw some of your older posts talking about your headcanons regarding Helia’s Dynamic with Miele as well as Flora’s dynamic with Saladin and they were just so wholesome! I’m just a sucker for wholesome (future) in-law dynamics. So anyway, it made me wonder if you had any thoughts or headcanons on Helia’s dynamic/relationship with Flora’s parents, Rhodos and Alyssa. Its already a crime that we don’t get to see Flora’s family that much in canon (not to mention her parents don’t get introduced until season 6/7 of all things). Its an even bigger crime that we get practically zero interactions between Helia and Flora’s parents in canon (from what I remember). Like at least between him and Miele, we get a little something in the comics, but NOTHING with Rhodos and Alyssa! So yeah, I’d like to hear your thoughts
AHHHHHHHHHH OBSESSED
i have mentioned this before (teehee)! but it's not suuuper fleshed out so i'm taking advantage of your ask to talk about helia more ajdgkdag
you're so right it's an Absolute Crime that we didn't get to see her parents till the later seasons (and we don't even know if they're what rainbow/iginio originally intended her parents to be like either), but i actually really like her parents! rhodos being So Goofy and making a bunch of puns?? AMAZING also fully obsessed with both flora and her mother having strangling vines that grab everyone like we really see where flora gets it from aldhgjlg
anyway, with how friendly they both are, i think they would fully adore helia! especially since flora probably talks about him a lot or at the very least doesn't hide that she's in a relationship, i think they would end up knowing a lot more about him than he realizes ajhdgl i definitely don't think it would take till s7 for them to properly meet though! i can see flora officially introducing him near the end of s3 or sometime in s5 (considering the earth gap year)!
but Anyway, headcanons!!
rhodos and alyssa are absolutely devasted that helia has next to zero knowledge about plants and plant care, so rhodos takes it upon himself to teach helia every single time he visits
rhodos is also very excited to say every single pun/joke about plants he knows since he figures helia hasn't heard them yet (helia: takes one step outside - rhodos: well, I can't WHEAT to see you again ;;;;))
in ep6 it shows them taking care of the magiwolves and since i also hc that helia has some good medical knowledge, i like to think that he'd be able to impress them with that! i can see them comparing notes and maybe even asking for help with other animals!
in the comics, they mention that flora and helia played together when they were kids and i hc that it was actually alyssa who remembered him and told them!
rhodos is way too friendly and cheerfully tells helia that he can call him dad if he wants to. helia's too nervous to tell him he thinks that's weird as hell ajdgl
helia still calls them mr. rhodos and mrs. alyssa decades after meeting them aladhg
i mentioned in the miele post that she would eventually ask to know when he's going on missions, and i think after a couple years (probably around s7 time), rhodos and alyssa would also ask for that information. timmy helps him make a little timetable that he can just fill out and they can access whenever
i think i mentioned it in the first post but they absolutely try to subtly drop hints that they're okay with florelia getting married aldghl (they're not subtle At All but they're trying okay alhdgl)
helia would definitely be a little awkward and nervous around them at first, even more so after experiencing how nice they are to him. i can see him feeling like he doesn't deserve it or like he needs to earn their respect. that would last for a couple of years but eventually he would have a moment where it just kind of clicks that they literally don't care what he does as long as he treats flora with respect and love.
after that, he would randomly get a lot more comfortable with them and they get excited because they think it means florelia are getting married or something ajdhgl
