Right I forgot to do these. So I’ve watched the episode twice and honestly I didn’t love it, but reading other reviews I think I may need to watch a third time because apparently there was a lot of stuff I didn’t notice. I think I went into it expecting it to be more of a Sarah episode than it was, so I set myself up for a bit of disappointment.
From the article I read a while back about them filming in Hamilton (which is where Makenna’s “apartment building” is actually located, not Toronto) I assumed it was John and Diesel filming there. Then realizing that Mayko had also filmed there, I figured Charlie and Rex would somehow join Sarah. It was kind of weirdly cut and I feel like maybe there were edits made once they saw the start-of-season fan backlash over the constant siloing of Charlie and Rex. I don’t know. It felt choppy and the Toronto trip felt unnecessary but it could have been an actor availability thing.
I wonder if the “aren’t you supposed to be flying” line from Charlie to Joe was meant to be a reference to Kevin guesting on SkyMed (apparently for several episodes, IDK what the story was though as I have only watched part of s1 of that show.)
I’m still annoyed about them going all the way to “Toronto” and not showing any of Sarah’s family, but it wouldn’t have worked with the plot.
I love Charlie and Sarah being soft in hospitals.
Sarah hanging out on the swings with coffee is my new happy place.
I still need more Charah. I’ll do a post-ep because I want some Sarah feels over Andrew nearly dying. Also I would like Sarah and Makenna to be friends. (Also I half-expected Sarah to be delivering Makenna’s baby.)
Anyway, season of side hugs continues. It’s not much, but I’ll take it.
Next week: Looks intense. Maybe some Charah? And Rex in danger again…oof.

I liked it. Not sure why Joe wasn’t there for most of it. Not sure why they went on location for it either.
Another poor person who has the misfortune of being Sarah’s friend.
Charlie saying that he and Sarah enjoy working together. They definitely do. If I consider their sometimes shameless flirting (especially in last seasons), I think they actually get off on it.
“There’s nothing to be jealous of”. Unless you look at a mirror.
Seriously, though, if you can’t trust your man, then he’s not your man.
Rex is offended by the mere presence of a suitcase. Joe is certainly packing light, though. As in, the suitcase seems empty.
“Rex [...] knows the pack’s not going to be together”. I did not see him complaining in the first couple of episodes, Charlie. Where was he then? Also, interesting timing. These episodes had probably not been filmed or had been filming around the time the first couple of episodes were airing. I wonder if they added the pack line after seeing the complaints from the fandom. Regardless of whether someone had planned to make Charlie and Rex seem more separated from the team, when they tell you that the episodes lack team work or team feel, you must do something to remedy the situation, and to be fair, I think they mostly have done that. We’re still majorly missing the scenes outside of work that added to the team as a family feel. Which would also help give more realism to the cases, ironically, as now any kind of testing gets done in record time. Like, take a breather, let the mass spectrometer do its job, have a cold one. Where is that pub/bar/restaurant?
Not sure if Jesse is using props to explain the movements of the elevator cars for Rex’s benefit or the audience’s. I truly believe they think their audience is children, although sometimes people tend to confirm they're watching with their brain turned off.
Am I the only one who finds it weird that Sarah packed a fairly big suitcase for her trip to Toronto? And then carried it to Makenna’s apartment, assuming the woman would tell her to stay there after she accused her of attempted murder of her husband?
If Rex acted the way he did when he saw Joe’s suitcase, I imagine he pitched a fit when he saw Sarah’s.
Charlie and Sarah made a big deal about wanting to see Makenna’s reaction to the news of Andrew's hospitalization and then we never saw it. Kinda seems like they were running out of time again, either they didn’t have the time to film it or the time to show it.
But we apparently have time to see Charlie give the scratch that Sarah requested he give to Rex. Which, I get it, it’s important stuff, but still.
The moving transitions that follow in the next scene are tacky and amateurish. Not to mention, that you usually do this when you need to make more of them, not like two. And you also do them faster, the transition should take about half of the time it actually did. The aim is to make the scene seem fast paced. Once again, I need to talk to editing.
Rex with the sloth plush toy!
I honestly thought that Sarah might have to help deliver a baby at some point in this episode.
“I trust my intuition”. Lady, you’re pregnant and your hormones are wreaking havoc on your body. There couldn’t be a worse time to trust your intuition. Also, you’re jealous of Sarah. So, sorry but screw your intuition.
There is such a thing as employee confidentiality???
lol Rex sitting at the seat of the CEO of the company.
And again, Charlie is in the office and says he’s going to pick up Sarah and Makenna, and then we never see him and he gets back to the office again. They could have cut a scene for time or the filming schedule was too wacky and never shot it. Or it's the known "show and tell" issue this show has. In any case, no one would wonder how Sarah and Makenna went to the hospital from the airport, so there's no need to announce it and then not show the subsequent scene.
We all know that if Jesse steps out of the office, chances aren’t good for him lol
Charlie: *sees a fence* Time for some thrilling heroics.
They need to send Jesse back to the academy for some extra hand to hand combat lessons. Failing to secure a suspect? Plus, Charlie should know by now that you have to have the guy in handcuffs first before checking on the victim of the attack. Because he might escape and kill them all.
Oh, Jesse talked to Lily and got the other guy his money. I’d completely forgotten about that by that point but he remembered. You go, Jesse.
And of course Sarah’s friend will be okay. They don’t actually ever die, they just come very close to death. Oh, show.
Rex woke him up lol
As I said, I liked it. Assuming Kevin Hanchard was unavailable, or maybe even Mayko Nguyen couldn’t be in St. John’s, it makes sense to film like this but only in that case, because they didn’t show anything of the location they were filming at. Charlie was paired with Jesse this time, John Reardon and Justin Kelly also have good chemistry. I mean, they all do with each other, really. It’s annoying that they don’t have better writers. Anyway.
Was a scene from the promo missing? I'd gotten the impression that Charlie was going to get attacked from behind. Maybe it was included in the tussle with the stalker, I’m not sure. If that’s the case, then it’s also the reason for the odd cut on the second promo.
Promo: I mean, I wanted more house, so there lol. Is that guy interrupting Charlie and Sarah’s post-date? Aka sex? If so, then perish, dude. Also, Rex is having the worst time this season. And putting more white hairs on Charlie’s head. Sidenote, when is Charlie going to scream Sarah’s name in an anguished manner? I’ve been waiting for it since season 2.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Thanks....
Oh!! What a cool question! Thank you :D
I can't be super precise because I love a lot of characters and don't want to hurt their feelings, but here's who comes to mind. In no particular order:
1. Uncle Iroh from Avatar: the Last Airbender. He's the only one I'm actually definitively saying is in a ranking. He's the best one. I love how unfailingly kind and loving he is, and that he demonstrates the beautiful ability to be silly and simply happy despite all the tragedy he's seen. Of course I also love almost every other character in the show, too, but Iroh is Best.
2. Elodin from The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss: This man is insane. He is eccentric and opinionated and owns it. He does not give half a fuck what people think of him and cares very, very much about everything else in the world. I want to know everything he knows. He is a trickster god I think.
3. The Cthaeh from The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss: Same book series as Elodin but god they both deserve their own mentions since the Cthaeh is on another fuckin level from literally everything. No spoilers, but this thing is the absolute coolest monster concept I have ever seen in any form of media.
4. Makenna from The Goblin Wood by Hilari Bell: This was my favorite book as a kid. Makenna is a badass hedgewitch who befriends a goblin named Cogswhallop. She's violently anti-colonialism and definitely a communist. I literally want to name my kid after her. Write characters like Makenna.
5. Boromir from The Lord of the Rings, mostly referring to the Peter Jackson films because FotR is my favorite movie: I love him. I love him I love him. He was the Best Of Men, and everyone else in the Fellowship was some kind of magic so he was the only one who fell victim to the Ring's sway, but he never stopped being a good man with a noble heart.
6. Hua Cheng from Heaven Official's Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu: God. I love this author and maintain that she's a genius, and I love so many of her characters, but Hua Cheng gets the first honorable mention because he is The Most Unhinged. All my mxtx favorites are unhinged tbh, but Hua Cheng is on another level. He's made a hobby out of self-sacrifice and makes stalking look tragically romantic. He vacillates between sweet, heart-wrenching adoration for one (1) person and top-tier vicious snarkiness for literally anyone else. He is a force of darkness and a shy baby.
7. Zevran from Dragon Age: My favorite game series. My guy. He tries very, very hard to make you think he doesn't have depth but he's actually just a mastermind at deflection and his heart is behind like eighteen million locked doors. He's cheerful! He's not. He's deeply depressed and his loyalty shows up LOUD when you're not emotionally prepared for it. He's possibly the most devoted companion character in the game.
8. Cole from Dragon Age: He is my son. My treasured baby boy. He loves you. I read Asunder before Inquisition came out so girl I shrieked when he was announced as a featuring character.
9. Nezumi from No. 6 by Atsuko Asano: He's a dick. Pretentious deuteragonist goth boyfriend who quotes classical Western poetry, thinks violence is funny until he sees his Soft, Sweet protagonist engage in it, and commands swarms of bees. His dream is to overthrow the dystopian government.
10. Liu Jianghe from Saved the Public Enemy by Mistake by Liu Muqiao: I'm obsessed with this one lately. Shamelessly promoting this manhua on the Bilibili app. He's my profile icon rn. Unhinged. Not sure what he's capable of. Sweet boy. Keeps making it look like he's the bad guy but all of his decisions are specifically engineered to help the main character fix his life. Everyone is confused and this maniac is cheerful and pretty much lives on the brink of death. Please read it guys it literally only has like 6 fics on AO3 and I want to talk to people about it

most underappreciated barbie movie in ur opinion??? or top 3 at least xx
Oh, I’ve got plenty don’t you worry.
1) Princess & the Popstar and Rock ‘n Royals -- As I’ve said time and time again, Princess and the Pauper is my favorite Barbie movie. Nothing is going to top it for me. But I am sick and tired of Popstar and Royals being given unnecessary hate because “they were just bad remakes ugh”. Well, not even Royals, it’s mostly just Popstar that gets this treatment. Was it lazy of Mattel to reuse the “role-switch”/Prince and the Pauper story twice? Sure, I can agree to that. But that doesn’t mean Popstar or Royals is a remake. All three films have very different elements to them, from how the switch happens, to the tones of the films, the stories and messages, and the characterizations of the leads. I won’t say they don’t have their own problems, because of course, they do, but nearly every criticism I see is just endless comparisons to Pauper and how superior it is. They’ve all got great things about them and I wish more people would see that. I made a really long post about it over on barbie-movie-confessions because people already started bombarding me about the upcoming Princess Adventure movie.
2) Barbie presents Thumbelina -- I know a lot of people wanted a “faithful” adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson tale, and I’ll admit that I used to want that as well, but in all honestly, the original tale does not have that much going on to make it into a full movie. I mean there’s Don Bluth’s Thumbelina from 1994, but it’s pretty average at best (though it looks beautiful). I think if Barbie had radically changed the source material like they did with past fairytales, it could’ve been good, but I think I like what we got better. It’s good to teach kids about the environment, and this is one of the only “Save the Earth” movies I can think of that doesn’t act super preachy. Plus the friendship between Thumbelina and Makenna is really the heart of the story. It’s at least a much better environmental film than Ferngully.
3) Barbie in Princess Power -- This was one of the goofier Barbie movies at times, but it’s still solid. Kara is an amazing protagonist, she actually wants to do something good for her kingdom, but still ends up learning a lesson as well. I really like that she gets lost in the glamour of glory and has to get called out on it. Humility and the true meaning of heroism are great lessons to show kids. I think if more people got past the animation style and the “sparkle orb” powers they might see the good in this movie.
4) Barbie: A Perfect Christmas -- While Christmas Carol is probably my favorite of the Barbie Christmas films, Perfect Christmas deserves a lot more praise because of how low-stakes it is and how well it’s written. The girls really feel like sisters, not just friends or girls who hang together. And the conflict is so simple yet honestly powerful. They just want to have their perfect holiday together, but they learn that all they need is each other. That is the PERFECT lesson to have in a sappy, heartwarming holiday film. I really love it.
5) Barbie: Mariposa & The Fairy Princess -- I always see people talking about how underrated the first Mariposa is, and I do agree it needs more love, but Fairy Princess has even less love. I’ve seen people complain about Mariposa no longer being a miserable outcast and how that’s “not in character” but that completely dismisses the lesson of the first film: Mariposa learned that everyone is unique, and you should just be yourself instead of trying to make yourself fit in. That’s why she’s so open in the sequel because she doesn’t feel like she needs to hide anymore. Plus there’s so many other great things about it: the messages of prejudice, the fact that Catania deals with childhood trauma and triumphs over her fears, the chemistry between Mariposa and Catania, oh it’s so GOOD! The only thing I myself really dislike about it is the fact that the Gwyllion gets de-aged at the end when she gets reformed. I mean, she still looks older, but not as old as she did throughout the rest of the movie. It’s very agest and I wish they hadn’t done that. And it’s not explained why she wanted/needed a Crystallite. I have a headcanon that she was cursed and was aging much faster than she should’ve been, which is why she de-ages at the end. But that’s just headcanon, so it doesn’t really help.
