tomorrow i will force myself to go out on my own. i've been stuck in the house for i don't even know how long because i have no one to hang out with and i am way too scared to do anything on my own. well, i wish to change that and even though i will feel very uncomfortable and anxious, it must be done. i will try to go for a walk in the park, listening to a podcast or something. i hope i will feel better after

Symbiosis changes

Alrighty, I apparently selected a week instead of a day for that poll. So I'm not going to wait. Energy barrier is out, stellar nursery and black hole are being merged into a single powerset. This will let me add in choices from both power sets and make some fun combinations. A few other changes will include the MC not being able to select eye color as it will be related to their powers and will look like shifting fields of stars.

I am also thinking of removing the physical choices as well, wings, claws, things like that as they don't really make much sense based on the MCs powers.

The actual names of the two powersets will now be the names of two of the MCs ultimate abilities. Stellar Nursery will have the MC creating a bunch of stars that go nova and based on the power the MC puts into it they could level a city.

Black hole is exactly what it sounds like with the MC creating a literal black hole and all the effects that would have just on a much, much, MUCH smaller scale, duh.

How reluctant are you to change a character who has been the same way a long time? If you think of a change that will benefit the story, are you amenable or would you rather adapt the story to fit the character?

Thank you for the ask! It's a REALLY good question, and I'm sorry it's taken me a week to get to it.

If I think of a change that I feel will strengthen a story then I will always make that change.

However, I'll make it with great reluctance and much, much, many, various groans, moans and complaints. Usually to @faelanvance on Discord.

I really HATE changing a story or a character once I've settled on a detail. I'll whine about it, and tell Fae about it, and talk it through, and then when I come to the inevitable conclusion that, yes, the story works better with the change, I'll grumble a bit more and go and rewrite things.

For the first month of outlining Changeling it didn't have Fey in the world at all. Lizzy was going to be a psychic vampire, and Booker wasn't Booker, but an entirely different character, another psychic-vampire, female, still Lizzy's best friend but with a whole different backkstory.

But every time I tried starting the story it was coming out.... wrong. So I changed it up. With a LOT of whining!

Thinking about making some changes...

I've been kind of falling out of Madness Combat as of late with other fandoms catching my attention. I still enjoy Madness, just not as much as I did when I started this blog.

To put it bluntly, there's a possibility that this will become a multi-fandom blog in the future.

With regular bot terminations aside, I LOVE Tumblr with every fiber of my existence for being a social media site that prioritizes fun over statistics and acts as a safe space for people who want to post what they like, when they like.

Knowing I and many others are granted this freedom is reassuring at best.

That being said, I know there's more I can be contributing to on here. For things I'm into and for my personal benefit. I've had scenarios with my other original characters on repeat I'd like to get out there 'cause I can't turn my brain off for squat.

So if this turns into more than my Madness OCs and sketches, you now know why.

There’s a tumblr post going around about the idea of Success=Forever.

I think this mindset is part of the problem about Death, too, and why we fear it so much. Death is the reminder that Forever can’t really be Forever. Everything ends.

Practicing ways of letting go is something I encourage here, but not recklessly, not without abandon. Letting go of good friends is foolish. I recommend it, in letting go of things that will better you, by letting them go.

I am letting go of my job. No, I’m not going to become a full-time blogger/writer. That ain’t paying the bills, this is tumblr. I’m applying to other jobs, and looking for new, and better, opportunities. It has been difficult.

I feel a certain loyalty to my current boss, because he’s always been good about letting me have time off I request. I also feel a bit bad because I’m leaving in the midst of a Bad Time – but I remind myself, it is a Bad Time of their own making. The problem has been here since 2019. They just did not address it, when I saw it, when I asked about it. I gave them leniency through 2020, and 2021.

It is 2022.

I am still working at home, which I despise.

The staffing issue that they needed to address in 2019, is now so bad we are all working overtime. It’s now been over a month.

And yes, there’s a part of me that feels like a failure for wanting to leave. That I’m not successful for leaving. It’s frustrating, but it is the society I’m a part of, and I CAN make individual changes even against societal expectations, because I know what is better for myself isn’t always to play along.

Making a change to something else, is scary. I reconsidered it on Monday after my first interview, when I got confirmation of the second one. Was it worth it to trade the devil I know, for one I don’t?

I don’t know.

I won’t know if I don’t take the leap.

That’s what letting go is. That’s practicing it, with the hope of bettering yourself.

That’s why one day we’ll have to let go of our lives, with the hope of bettering the planet in our death.

So if there are things holding you back, practice letting them go. Small things, at first.

Or perhaps it’s nothing holding you back, but just something you’re scared to try – a new food, a new restaurant, a new hair color, a new walking trail? Find a way to tackle it, even if you need a friend for moral support.

It’s Spring.

Let’s practice blooming and letting go.
