Whispers what if Jay was friends with Harry and mal

This is a very interesting brotp dynamic! I’m always down to explore what different dynamics could be and this one seems like it has potential to be very fun. Again I feel like it would be banter central, constant mocking at the other’s expense. I feel like it would be quite an active frienship, like training with one another and racing back to the dorms etc.

I feel like they’d have a good laugh together despite all the mocking and tomfoolery. Pranking together!!! Jay is always very clsoe to punching Harry because the pirate is such a flirt, and he especially likes to flirt with Carlos which has Jay steaming.

All three of them are reluctant in their studies, the others are always trying to coax them into study sessions. Mal and Harry hate anything to do with mathematics and they’ll pass notes playing hangman instead...a stick figure who looks exactly like Doug...👀

Jay and Harry ganging up to tease Mal about how whipped she is for Evie, and constantly teasing her about being so small. Mal and Jay teasing Harry about how much of a simp he is for Uma (goes without saying), and surprisngly how easy it is for Ben to be the one to make Harry lose his cool.

Mal goes to Jay and Harry when she’s riled up and needs to rant to someone who won’t try and calm her down. Mainly because Harry is cracking jokes and Jay is making sure Mal doesn’t hold back. The trio are the culprits for how Dude learned to swear.

- Mal instantly tries to be intimidating and has this whole plan in her mind to warn Doug that if he ever broke Evie’s heart then she would break his jaw, but she genuinely just can’t bring herself to do it when she sees how whenever he looks at her, he doesn’t just admire her beauty- but also Evie just as a person in general.

- After Mal had made it clear that science is totally not her forte, and Evie not being able to tutor her since she was busy with making clothing, Doug volunteers to help teach Mal about how science is more than just a bunch of large boring textbooks.

- So even after Mal finally understands science and is confident that she won’t earn anything less than a C+ for the rest of your life, the two sometimes study together before a test/quiz.

- Doug always goes to Mal whenever he’s trying to figure out what to get as a gift for Evie (He never will give Evie something if Mal doesn’t approve first.)

- Mal trying to teach Doug the art of being sarcastic (since it basically is her native language)

6. How would they react to being asked if they were dating?

Chad scoffs loudly in a way that seems at once offended and flattered. You know, the kind of expression that says, “Linda, I would never, I couldn’t even imagine” at the same time as the eyes dart aside to whisper, “unless…”

Carlos, for his part, has nearly sucked down his straw in horror. He’s choking on his slushie, feeling the burn of cherry down his throat in a way that will scar him. He will never again be able to see or taste this flavour of slushie without thinking of this moment. His eyes are dark and hollow as he raises his head to look at the one who did this to him.

It��s Doug’s cousin, Hap. He is grinning like a soulless creature, like he knows what he’s done here and he revels in it.

The utter bastard.

8. How would they react to a 3 AM phone call from the other?

Carlos has silenced all alerts from Chad’s number, so he doesn’t notice there’s a missed call until he grabs his phone to shut his alarm off in the morning. He squints at the timestamp on the missed call. But it’s Chad and he only called once, so Carlos doesn’t really care. He forgets about it until he’s sitting in the cafeteria with Mal, Jay, Evie, and a few of their AK friends. Much as he hates to admit it, he’s distracted. He keeps scanning the room for a sign of Chad, but nothing…

He excuses himself from the table a little early, claiming he forgot a textbook in the dorm. He soon finds himself in front of Charming’s door with a fist raised, about to knock. He regrets everything that has led him to this moment. Literally, when did he develop this much of a conscience? He shouldn’t feel guilty over the idea of walking away.

A good compromise, he decides, is to knock three times in sharp succession, count to ten, and run.

That doesn’t quite work out, since Chad opens the door before Carlos even reaches “four.”

Chad’s in a plush blue bathrobe with his hair a mess, dark circles under his red-veined eyes, and a tissue stuffed up each nostril. He looks sick, at first, but on closer inspection, it’s obvious he’s been crying, which can only mean one thing…

“You slept with it on again, didn’t you?”

Chad sniffles and nods, slowly fishing the pieces of his broken 3D-printed crown out from his bathrobe pockets.

Sighing, Carlos crosses his arms. “Alright… I can fix it before lunch, but it’s going to cost you double.”

11. What do they say that makes the other immediately reply, “No.”

“I’ll come with you!” to absolutely anything anywhere, including a date with Jay on Friday night.

“No,” says Carlos, planting his foot on Chad’s chest and trying to shove him back so he can shut the car door.

Jay, at least, can find some humour in the way this goldendoodle of a prince can’t seem to leave his boyfriend alone. He has the keys in the ignition and his foot hovering above the gas, but he’s fine to sit there smirking as he watches Carlos struggle to get rid of Chad, who’s now insisting on paying for dinner, which really doesn’t sound so bad to Jay…

“NO,” Carlos says again, contorting to jab a finger into Chad’s chest right above the foot he still has planted there. “Our project’s not due until Monday and like I already told you, I can do it myself! Take the free A and get the hell out of my car, Chad.”

Chad stumbles back with a pout, shoulders slumping. “It’s Jay's car,” Carlos hears him mumble as he shuts the door.

Jay must hear him, too, because he smirks when Carlos glances at him expectantly. “It is my car,” Jay teases.

“Yeah, well, if you want me in it, you better fucking drive,” Carlos mutters, sinking down in his seat to try and block out the view of Chad on the sidewalk, staring after them like an abandoned puppy. God, he’s really too much…

So right off the bat I just wanna say that any ship with Mal in it is based off of d1 mal, d2 and d3 mals can rot in hell. That saying, I find before love potion bal hella cute but during and after are meh and it's not often that I go looking for bal fics. Mal/audrey just doesn't work for me no matter what version of mal because I feel they at most can be friends but nothing more and Uma and mal is too much of a bully and their victim for me to support them as a couple.

Ok so I am one of the biggest multishippers you'll ever meet but something in me just isn't all there with the C4 and S3. It's not that I don't like them I just don't go looking them out all the time. Like with the C4 I mostly am just a Jaylos and malvie shipper not them all together, though I can see.

As for the S3 maybe it's just because I'm a big huma shipper but I don't really see Gil as a romantic interest in general like I'm 90% sure I head canon him as aro ace but I definetly see him as a big supporter of huma

That leads me to Gil/Jay like I see them more as a brotp but I can also see the ship-ability of them.

This is getting long so I'm gonna do 2 more then I'll stop lol

Carlos and Jane had the potential to be a cute ship but the descendants writers couldn't pull it off. They aren't my fav (Jaylos will always be my fav) for the most part but I do think they are cute

Finally, doug and Evie had the same problem as carlos and Jane, I remember shipping them after d1 but d2 and d3 ruined them for me. The potential was there but the execution was not

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

I do not understand why people like Devie. Nothing against the people that do like it, but I am most certainly not a Devie lover at all. Like in D1, he’s stalking my baby Evie and in D2, he’s accusing her of cheating on him. Like really. Anyone that knows Evie even a little bit would certainly be fully aware that she would never cheat on anyone ever. She’s too sweet.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Definitely. Jaylos (Jay x Carlos), Malvie or Mevie (Mal x Evie), Marlos (Mal x Carlos), Jayvie (Jay x Evie), Jal (Jay x Mal), Umvie (Uma x Evie), Umal (Uma x Mal), and Jil (Jay x Gil) just to name a few.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Not as of yet, but it could happen. Idk.

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*

Once again, let me just reiterate my hatred for Devie. They are relatively popular I believe (unless you count the folks that make Evie a lesbian), but I just don’t like it. At all.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

Yes. I used to like Bal, but after several people seemed to be absolutely unwilling to accept anybody else to ship Ben with, it’s really kind of lost favor with me.

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*

Yes. Thanks to several very talented writers across several fanfiction websites, I have fell in love with Jay x Audrey or Jaudrey. It’s warring for main OTP status with Huma.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*

Jonnie or Jay and Lonnie. I used to like that, but that was before I became familiar with Jaudrey and read some awesome stuff about that, and before Audrey became a sweetie in D3.

8. Have you received anon hate? What about?*

Nothing on this website, but on other websites, I’ve received some bad reviews or comments from guests. Usually, it’s criticism about old stories that I wrote a hundred years ago.

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?

Doug because he’s a stalker and a false accuser of my angel Evie. Lonnie because she’s very forced and shouldn’t have had such a great role in D2 only to be totally thrown out in D3. Chad because he’s a jerk and mean to my Evie.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

Evie’s. With each movie, they take away a piece of her personality. By D3, she’s a total moron only existing because they created her in the first movie and she has to boost Uma’s importance by being a complete idiot. Evie and Uma deserved better.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I don’t know if there’s exactly an unpopular character that I like that the fandom doesn’t, but some people on some websites seem to have a serious aversion to Uma, and I don’t really understand why. I love Uma dearly because she is secretly just the sweetest softie captain I’ve ever seen.

12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I don’t really think there’s any unpopular arc that I like that the fandom doesn’t. I’m mostly good with all of the arcs except Evie’s.

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

Evie is capable of having an attitude. She has an ego and it needs stroking, but it is very much present.

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

I don’t think I have one. I mostly stay in my happy little Descendants place where I write requests and the stuff that comes from my own head, so I don’t have too much interaction with the whole fandom.

15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

Wicked World was kind of goofy, and I wish that they would have actually used the real actors and actresses dressed up instead of the crappy animation.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

They’d all be real people and not cartoons.

17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…

I would have had Evie, Jay, and Carlos take a more active role in D3, and they would have been involved in the final showdown with Audrey.

18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?

Heck, no. You like what you like, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

I’m not really sure. I don’t hate much about the fandom, but maybe it’s just how a lot of people automatically like Evie and Mal as being in a romantic relationship. They are very close best friends and sisters, but not girlfriends.

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?

Jane and Carlos or Jarlos, undoubtedly. Those two are total babies, and so adorable together.

21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?

I think they are very interesting. It sometimes fascinates me how people think of this stuff, but I greatly encourage the creativity. It makes me think of the characters in a different way.

22. Popular character you hate?

Doug. I immensely dislike Doug.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Celia. Most certainly Celia because she is so hilarious. I’ve been thinking of writing a oneshot for her, but we’ll see what happens. I’ve got several fanfics on my plate at this moment.

24. Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not?

Would definitely recommend Descendants. It is a fantastical world filled with love and lessons, and it is an excellent place to run away to. Especially in these difficult times.

25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?

The Core Four would not have been running back to their abusive parents if I had my say. They’ve been spending so much time getting away from them and developing without them that the kids shouldn’t be going back to those rude and mean old villains.

26. Most shippable character?

Evie is most certainly the most shippable character in Descendants. She is so easily compatible with so many people that it’s just not even funny.

27. Least shippable character?

Chad because he’s a jerk and a total idiot moron brain. End of story.

Please don’t take any of this personally. These are just my opinions, and I’m not attacking anyone for their, so please don’t attack me for mine. You guys run free with your imaginations for your ships. :)

OTP for them: bal bal bal i just think they love each other and are very cute together. they’re both kind of dorks and i love that for them.

BROTP for them: him & carlos. would of loved to see them interact more i think they’re just neat together. they’d vibe.

Other ships: i like benlos in a way where i think they liked each other and even would b good together but i don’t actually ship them. i’d support them tho. also: ben and evie friendship. also ben and jay friendship really could be smth.

What kind of fic I’d write about them: if i was gonna write a ben-centric fic i think it would be a post-canon college era fic. i imagine he goes to the same college as carlos and doug, while mal is focusing more on queen stuff. i’d write abt that.

Tourney player Mal AU

I've been having a lot of thoughts about this, and since y'all seem responsive to this idea I wanted to expand on my thoughts, I will be writing something for it (after I've finished the draft for my roadtrip fic). I’ve been reading a lot of Descendants fanfiction, initially my mind went to Malvie but as I thought more about this fic; I found I have waaaaay more ideas for the four and voila it hath become poly. It’s long, because I have a lot of feelings and I need them to all be protective over an injured Mal! So, here goes:

Established Rotten OT4. Sometime after the coronation happened. Ben is their supportive and sweet friend because I’m here for all the brotps!

Carlos doesn't want to play tourney, instead he joins robotics and the chemistry club. Evie is in the sewing club but will sometimes accompany Carlos to his chemistry club meetings.

Jay suffers from insomnia sometimes, he has so much energy he just can't sleep so he wakes a very grumpy Mal and practically carries her to the tourney field, where they practice. They get caught by a very impressed Coach who tries to coax Mal onto the team. She declines and that's that.

That is until Chad starts making fun of Carlos and saying how he's glad they've finally got the dead-weight off of the team, and Mal is LIVID. She curses Chad out and shouts in his face "a flying monkey would be better than you. Hell I could play better!" and Chad challenges her to prove it. Well, Mal never did back down from a challenge.

She has Jay, Ben and Coach all pleading with her to join the team. Jay drapes an arm around her shoulder and is like "together we're deadly, c'mon let’s show these losers what real talent is. What do ya say baby dragon?" (he whispers the nickname so only she can hear and it makes her whole face turn a violent shade of scarlet), after punching his shoulder she accepts.

Evie steals Mal's varsity jacket ALL THE TIME. Carlos has already claimed Jay's, and they are both defenseless when it comes to puppy eyes and pouting.

Mal and Jay really are lethal, they train so hard and usually come back from practice with bruises that definitely weren't there when they left that morning. On training days Jay grabs Mal breakfast and a strawberry smoothie, she's half asleep and grumpy but allows a small smile when he promptly arrives at the dorm door with her favourite beverage.

Carlos researches tourney tactics and finds old videos to help Mal and Jay come up with new moves. Mal rests her head on his shoulder as they watch through the videos together.

Evie sews little patches into Mal and Jay's uniform, a purple dragon on Mal's sleeve and a red cobra on Jay's. She had thought about trying to glitterify their numbers but thought better of it. She gets tackled in kisses after presenting her gifts. Carlos braids Mal's hair before the first game and Jay paints blue and yellow war-stripes across her cheeks. Evie kisses them both for good luck, linking arms with Carlos as they find a spot in the center of the stands.

Evie and Carlos make a banner and they wave it frantically during the game. Carlos explains the physics of the game to Evie as they watch in anticipation. They cheer so loudly and it’s the first time the AK’s have seen Evie and Carlos be the louder of the four.

The deadly duo are a force to be reckoned with, both super fast and determined. Mal is small and manages to sneak past players and weave through people. Jay does a roll-slide type of move and is literally leaping over people. They banter back and forth as they play, and team up to trash talk the other team. When Mal scores for the first time Jay picks her up and twirls her around in a spin-hug. (Examples: x x x) He would kiss her but Mal is already flushing far too much and ordering him to put her down, despite smiling.

Jay is on his way to score the last point they need to win when it happens. Mal was doing her best to cause enough of a distraction on her end for Jay to score, and he does right as a lumberjack of a player barrels into Mal and sends her flying through the air. She lands with a loud thud and a sharp crack.

When Mal goes down everything stops: Evie screams so loudly, Carlos is tugging her down the steps and they're pushing past everyone to get to her. Jay is being held back by Ben, Chad and numerous other players to stop him from pummeling the asshole who had sent Mal literally flying through the air. Evie goes to calm him whilst Carlos rushes to Mal's side, she's so pale and his hands are shaking as he cups her face, she gives him a weak smile but it's cut off as she flinched, moving is too much and she collapses into him. Evie talks to Jay in a loving but firm tone, reminding him they need to make sure Mal is okay before attacking anyone else.

Once Jay has calmed down enough he scoops Mal into his arms and carries her to the infirmary, with Evie, Carlos, Ben, Lonnie, Audrey, Jane, Doug and even Chad racing after them.

Carlos sits in the seat nearest Mal's head, leg bouncing and hand holding Mal’s uninjured one. Evie sits with Mal's legs in her lap, gently running her hands over Mal's legs in a slow motion. Jay paces back and forth infront of the bed. The others all sit a little further back, observing the four in what feels like the most natural positions on earth.

Jay has to stop himself interjecting when Mal is getting bandaged up, Evie tugs him close, his hand coming to rest on her shoulder as they let the medical professional do their job.

Mal isn’t seriously hurt, mainly superficial cuts and bruises but her right arm is f*cked. She pouts over having to wear a cast but after seeing the concerned faces around her she decides to grin and bear it.

Her cast is a light lilac and they all spend a good hour doodling over it and writing little messages, Evie has to stop Jay from being too crude (it makes Mal laugh).

Once her cast is sufficiently decorated the others leave the four to themselves. Carlos gets in the bed with Mal (the second they’re alone) and curls up on her good side; she whispers that's she's okay and safe, he nods but cuddles tighter. Evie and Jay stay near Mal’s feet, Evie’s head resting on Jay’s chest as they both breathe a collective sigh of relief. When they get back to the dorm they have a cuddle pile with Mal in the middle which is quite rare, all curled around her in various positions.

They all dote on her whilst she’s healing because she can't do everything alone, not that Evie would let her if she tried. Jay carries her bags everywhere, he won't even let Mal carry her lunch tray and drapes a protective arm around her shoulder. Carlos is clingier than usual, he is always cuddling her and gets her lots of strawberries to cheer her up. Evie is almost as bad as Jay, she gets in her "mothering mode" which is basically reprimanding Mal if she so much as lifts a finger, she runs Mal baths and is like "I have to get in, you can't get your cast wet" and is like "don't even think about going to practice Mal Bertha".

Mal protests and denies needing their affection, that she is daughter or Maleficent, a dragon and she does not need to be babied. They shake their heads and kiss her softly, whispering how much they love her and throw in a couple of pouts for good measure. She begrudgingly (but not really since she secretly loves their protectiveness) lets them fawn over her, thanking evil that she found them.

My thoughts: underrated, adorable, the only thing I ship more is all four VKs and Ben (and just all four VKs)

Also, I’m more apathetic than anything toward some of the ships I’ve crossed out, but I’ve lumped them together with some ships that make my eyes burn, so... we’ll just leave it at that lol.

I think Core Four + Ben has potential but I’m not likely to read about it, I ship Mal and Uma as exes (exception for Umalvie ‘cause I think that has some cute potential, though I usually don’t read fic about that either), I like the concept of Maldrey but I wouldn’t actively seek out fic about them, I prefer Uma and Audrey in the context of Humaudrey, andddd I ship Harlos variably as either a dark/noncon ship, part of a poly arrangement, or a completely platonic and adorable BROTP... depends on my mood. :’)
