- She tries to help you change your ways and become more of a sensible and better person.

- Sayaka gets upset when you’re mean to someone- she’d talk to you about your actions and apologize to that person later.

- If you ever got into a fight, she would try to diffuse the situation and stop you from fighting. Afterwards, Sayaka would talk to you to make sure you were okay!

- She would never doubt you though, she would still trust you completely even though you are very reckless.

- And then randomly, you hugged her- squeezing her all flustered.

- Sayaka let out a soft giggle, she thought you were adorable!

- She squeezed you back while continuing to giggle.

Celestia Ludenberg

- The idea of a delinquent boyfriend makes Celeste’s skin crawl. But ever since she got with you, she didn’t really care anymore.

- At some point in the relationship, Celeste did try to mold you into the most perfect, respectful gentleman.

- She didn’t really care after that.

- If you were ever mean to someone, she would just sigh and not do anything. As long as it doesn’t involve her, she doesn’t care.

- Literally the definition of “I pretend I do not see it”. Celeste will literally just sit and drink her tea looking all pretty while you bully the shit out of someone.

- If you're fighting someone, she would just sit there and watch- basically enjoying the show.

- Damn, Celeste thought that you were honestly badass until you decided to hug her privately

- Celeste was shocked- she wasn't used to physical touch, especially not from someone like you...

- She sighed, and patted your back with a small smile on her face.

Aoi Asahina

- Like Celeste, Aoi did try to help you become a better person. But really, it was no use,

- She would always show her concern for you. Even if you could protect yourself, Hina would be there to keep you safe.

- At least she had someone who was brave and determined- she did admire you for that!

- Hina HATES when people insults others; if you were making fun of someone, she'd immediately step in and stop you.

- If you ever got into a fight, she would jump in and stop everything without thinking- even if it meant getting hurt.

- Like Sayaka, Hina still trusts you. Even for your stupid behavior.

- And when you decided to hug her...

- Aoi's eyes were SPARKLING- she squeezed you back, she thought you were the cutest thing EVER. Bonus points for you because she's a very cuddly person!!

on critical thinking (and Sayaka Maizono)

i think what happens a lot in Danganronpa, and with Fandom in particular, is that people assume the Problematic Narrative Issues most stories have ALWAYS exist. we end up so used to seeing the Annoying or Problematic thing we sometimes feel like it's there when it isn't. combine that with underused media literacy/critical thinking skills and it's often a recipe for misplaced anger and weird character interpretations.

as a random example: i see Sayaka's treatment maligned a lot as Sexist/Misogynist. it does look like that on the surface, right? she's the cute idol girl love interest, and she dies first in a selfish grab to get out of the school, attempting to pin Male Normie Protag for a crime he didn't commit. ask yourself, though: is this narrative Sexist, or have i seen similar shitty Snake in the Grass Succubus Harpy Girl Attacking The Innocent Bunny Man type narratives so much that i'm projecting? finding evidence of Misogyny that isn't there?

related questions, both in general and for this situation specifically:

how does this situation relate to the themes of the story, to Makoto's arc, to the arc(s) of the rest of the characters?

does Sayaka have depth? or is she just a plot device for Makoto and the others?

what about the rest of the women/femme-aligned folks in the Narrative? are they only there for similar reasons as Sayaka?

especially with something like Danganronpa (translated/localized), what is the original connotation of the text (if available)? are there cultural nuances i might have Missed?

what are other examples i've seen of this situation in other unrelated works? is it Similar? not really that Similar at all?

what might the writers have intended? what is/are their Background(s)?

who is the intended market/audience?

how long has it been since i've played the Game (or read the book, etc)? am i misremembering something from the Game?

related to the above, am i letting Fandom/Fanon/Chuds on Reddit color a lot of my perception because i haven't interacted with the canon in a while?

and of course, to reiterate my first point: have i seen this narrative done poorly so often that i expect it's always written poorly?

maybe you'll come to the Conclusion it's still sexist (or transphobic, or...), and that's fine. i'm not saying there aren't Bigoted and Awful bits of fiction out there that tell us everything we need to know about the author's shitheadedness. but always take a moment to think first.

She took a lot of time to confess, mainly because she didn't want to ruin your friendship. and you also didn't want to because ironically you thought she was crushing on your brother.

After makoto figured out you two had a crush on each other, he tried to set you up on a date, he invited both of you to hang out with him but then told you he had to go somewhere, leaving you two alone.

That led to you confessing to each other (while blushing and being incredibly embarrassed)

While you're dating, Sayaka basically comes to live in your house. Both her best friend and boyfriend live there, so she wants to spend as much time as possible with both of them(komaru often gets left out)

Makoto often gives you relationship advices with Sayaka since he knows her pretty well, and he also leaves during your hangouts to leave you two alone(so you can kiss)

You and your family get free tickets to Sayaka's concerts, and of course, you get a special backstage pass to see her.

A/N: 

A quick explanation for this one-shot. Y/N saves Makoto from becoming a victim and comforts him! Also, Sayaka is also lowkey insane for Y/N so pretty much also a yandere.  I'm also willing to make another ending where Y/N had killed Sayaka instead, leading to him being executed.

"Good morning, everyone! It is officially 7 a.m. and nighttime is officially over! Time to rise and shine! Get ready to greet another beee-yutiful day!"

"That stupid fucking bear." Y/N mumbled.

The boy groaned slightly, holding the pillow over his head as he grumbled. He closed his eyes again, hearing the light footsteps of his peers nearby. He sighed and rose from his bed, changing into his usual clothes and getting ready for the day ahead.

When he was finished, he made his way out of his dorm, making sure to collect his e-handbook on the way out as he shoved the small device into one of his pockets. While looking down, the boy collided with Sayaka. He looked at her, immediately helping her up as he apologised. "Sorry Sayaka..I wasn't watching where I was going-" 

Y/N's POV:

I was suddenly cut off by the female as she waved her arms around frantically after I helped her up. "Hah, no! No way! Don't apologise Y/N. It's completely okay!'' She spoke, giving me a reassuring smile.

End of Y/N's POV:

Sayaka's POV:

I listen to Y/N's words, a small huff falling from my lips in the process. 'You never do anything wrong, you're perfect.' I thought to myself, feeling my cheeks begin to heat up before I was snapped out of my trance. I see Y/N waving good-bye to me as he walks off with...Makoto?

End of Sayaka's POV:

Y/N waved at Sayaka, saying good-bye to her, which she had clearly missed due to her daydreaming. Makoto and Y/N walked off together, the two chatting amongst themselves as Sayaka watched. Her blood ran cold.

"You ruined a special moment, Makoto.." she whispered.

A little while later, the students had their free periods. Y/N was walking down the hallway with Sakura and Aoi, who were talking about things they enjoyed, such as swimming, martial arts, (Y/N's ultimate/what he enjoys), e.t.c.

Y/N couldn't help but feel as if something was off. He didn't know what it was, but he just felt slightly uneasy. He shrugged off the feeling, holding his e-handbook in his hands whilst he walked among the boarded-up hallways. 

"What's going on with you?!"

A familiar voice yelled. Y/N has become tense. 'Makoto..'  He quickly turned on his heel and ran in the opposite direction from where he was going, continuing to follow the lingering voices he heard in the distance. When he got closer, he came to a halt. His eyes widened in the process.

Makoto sat in the corner, a distressed look on his face as Sayaka approached him whilst keeping a tight grip on the kitchen knife.

Makoto's POV:

I cowered back into a nearby corner in fear. My heart nearly jumps out of my chest as I watch my'supposed' friend get ready to attack me. "Stay still, Makoto.." she whispered as she raised her hand with the knife. I close my eyes tightly, accepting my fate.

End of Makoto's POV:

Y/N had come up behind Sayaka, holding the small device above her head before suddenly striking her harshly as she stumbled back, blood running down the back of her head lightly. Makoto opens his eyes, seeing Y/N stand in front of him. His eyes glistened slightly, and a hinge of hope ran through him. (See what I did there? Hope?)

Y/N ran to the other boy's side, immediately pulling him into a secure hug as Sayaka ran off to tend to her injury. Makoto wraps his arms around Y/N tightly, still clearly shaken up from what had just happened. "You're safe with me.." Y/N whispered, closing his own eyes as his grip on the other tightened.

Observation Log Series: Sayaka [II]

Rewatched some Sayaka episodes to see if I forgot any details - interestingly, I managed to observe her room this time. Magical girls and their dwellings seem to infer a lot about them [well, the home of a magical girl is just the shell of their Witch's labyrinth after all]. Unlike Homura who has a lot of frames hung up about Walpurgisnacht, coupled with gears and clockwork to resemble a swinging pendulum [which was, of course, shaped like an axe in foreshadowing of Homulily's 'funeral'] or Madoka's strange house full of chairs in one room, Sayaka's room....has a lot of mirrors.

It's probably picked up by many people prior already, but it's no less interesting as this seems to confirm the analysis on how Sayaka lives in an 'echo chamber' of her own depressive thoughts and is obsessed with herself not in a way that is purely selfish, but rather a desire for others to understand why she's infatuated with her own grief to begin with. Since this sentiment was not received, she spiralled.

In the second picture, you can also see more clearly a crown sitting atop her shelf. It eludes to the crown of Oktavia.

This is more of an observation for myself because I Think It's Cool, but when Sayaka's despair spikes during the scene of the men discussing sigma male shit or whatever, her eyes reflect the magic circles that is often seen bubbling around her to heal wounds. Here, as opposed to 'healing' purposes, it's the activation of her powers for the [possible] use of violence against human beings.

This one's a bit more obvious: the signboard behind both of them are a forecast warning on rainy weather and that individuals should optimally seek shelter as soon as possible < at first I interpreted this as a typhoon season warning, which was the stage set-up for Walpurgisnacht's arrival , but umbrellas aren't the emblems for typhoon storms, they're for rain. The sign is inscribed in the Witch runes we see, not the Japanese language, which wouldn't be far-fetched to say that it's a warning of Oktavia's imminent birth.

It was early in the evening, 9pm sharp

You'd been scrolling mindlessly on tiktok for the past hour

You come across a video you felt you just needed to share, so you post it on your Insta story

Hoping you can making your friends giggle at it

Of course, Sayaka replies to it, and the two of you spiral into a conversation

But halfway through your convo with Sayaka, you get a message from none other than Leon

You and Leon were good friends, you liked the red-head, you went to hid games and cheered him on louder than anyone else

He fucking loved it when he heard your voice in the crowd

Leon had recently realised he had the fattest crush on you, so he did what any reasonable person would do and asked a friend for help

However, that friend he asked was Mondo.

Who encouraged Leon to talk to you as much as he could and to try exert dominance

"Cause a guy like (y/n) would totally love a dominant typa guy ya know?" - verbatim Mondo's advice to Leon

You end your conversation with Sayaka and go check what Leon sent you

It was a short reply to your story

"Go to bed, it's late"

You audibly chuckled, you looked at the time on your phone

It was barely 9:30

What the hell was Leon on to be going to bed so early?

"Bro it's 9:30 it's so early wdym???"

"This is actually late for me, I go to bed at 9 pm, its much better for you yk"

"Oh really now?"

"Yeah, clearly why I'm so much healthier and better than you"

Oh no...

Leon clearly misunderstood the kind of dominance Mondo meant.

You left him on seen again and then shut off your phone

"Oi (y/n)!"

"Shit please dont ignore me."

"I'm sorry okay"

"(Y/nnnnn)"

Leon was panicking, spam texting you as you put your phone on silent and went to bed

Guess he achieved his goal of getting you to go to bed

But he pissed you off while doing so

Truthfully you didn't care, Leon was ditzy from time to time and didn't think before he spoke

You were used to it

But you took up the opportunity to make the man frantic

You weren't thick, you knew the baseball player was crushing on you

And you were crushing on him too, hard

So knowing that Leon was now worrying that he messed up his chances with you gave you a sick pleasure - you didn't care if it was just the tiniest bit toxic

The next morning you woke up well rested

Your phone now plastered with message notifications from a certain ginger

You open them and send one quick message

"Oops I fell asleep sorry... Guess you are better than me for that haha ❤️"

Leon stopped in his tracks when he read that message, toothpaste falling out of his mouth as he froze

The sportsman quickly finished brushing his teeth and screenshot the message

Sending it to Mondo, frantically messaging him

"WHAT DOES THE HEART MEAN OMFG WHAT???"

"AHHHHH"

"HFHFJFHSJDNDN"

"Dude chill.... he defo fucks with u" mondo replies half asleep

Leon short-circuits, mindlessly changing as thoughts of a relationship with you fly through his head

He was like a schoolgirl, but he had reason to, in his eyes you were the finest of men

"Good morning~" you say with a smile as you sit down next to the muscular man

"Hey, beautiful~" he mumbles flirtily

"Oh? That's a new one?"

"Yeahhh figured I should up my game if I wanna get with you by the end of the year"

Holy shit you were shocked just how much that one heart emoji riled the ginger up

"Hold your horses, BallBoy... who said I was getting with you?" You tease him

"Oh just you wait, (n/n)..."

Short but eh whatevs!!

This has happened to me before - I doubt he meant it as anything but I just remember the situation while writing this and wtaf...
