So i am fed up of always texting new blogs and being like:
"Hey, I'm @jjxkiaraxpopexcleoxjohnbxsarah..."
I don't feel comfortable sharing my own name online cos like online safety people.
But i decided to create a name for myself for this blog only and it is in some ways related to me(culturally) and I LOVE it.
Hello OBX fandom and everyone else, I'm Malika and now when y'all are texting me or what not you can call me that.
FUN FACT: Malika is an arabic name used for girls but also used in general context and it means 'Queen'( I know i aint a queen but like..)

Could we know more about Chloe and Mailka's relationship? They seem the cutest
Oh, they are so cute.
TW for under the cut; mentioned suicide attempt, mentioned abuse, homophobia
Their friendship started long before Chloe's suicide attempt. They're both quiet and introverted, the kind who would rather slip away from the party to go hide in the library, and the two of them always doing that meant they interacted a lot. They would spend hours in silence together, both reading in whatever library, and that was their friendship.
Over the years, the two's friendship slowly morphed into something more. Not quite a relationship, not yet, but getting there. And then, when Chloe was twelve, her grandfather caught one of the looks she gave Malika, another girl. And gods, he was furious. He swore that Chloe would never be allowed to see Malika again. That meant she wouldn't see any of the family again. Sultana Jasmine was the only person who was really dedicated to getting Chloe out. If she couldn't interact with Jasmine, she would never be free.
So she attempted, but she didn't jump from high enough. Still, she spent a few weeks in a coma. As she started to wake up, as waking up from a coma takes a while and includes a lot of periods of brief awareness, she would always hear Malika's voice at her bedside, talking about anything that came to mind. Malika, though she didn't tell Chloe, was terrified Chloe was going to die and that Malika would never be able to see her again, never seen her smile or hear her voice or spend hours in a library with her ever again.
When Chloe woke up, Malika was the one who broke the joyous news that Chloe would stay in Agrabah due to her new wheelchair. Jasmine and a massive array of doctors did most of the work in Chloe's recovery, but Malika was always there, always supporting her with a kind smile and a nod of approval.
There was no big moment when their relationship started, they just looked up one day and realized that it had. The two of them realized that the last space between them, the one cause by Chloe's grandfather and the distance between the two of them, had closed. It just kind of happened. Chloe was the one who finally realized. The two were reading in the library, Malika's arm around Chloe's shoulders, tracing gentle patterns into Chloe's arm, and it kind of just occurred to her. She realized that they were girlfriends now. And the smile that broke across Malika's face as she realized that Chloe was right was one of the most beautiful sights Chloe has ever seen.
(By the way, just to keep her grandfather off her trail, Aziz pretends to be Chloe's boyfriend whenever her family is visiting. The last thing she needs is her grandfather finding out about her relationship and forcing Chloe to move back home.)

@the-sycophant, What a lovely place this is! Is this your place? Did Malika sneak into-- uh visit-- the wrong place? Well, she enjoyed it regardless! Thanks to @kestrelvylbrand for helping with the extra details...

Being a mixed race child and not looking like your Mom can be tough. This children's book emphasizes how a child can look different from their parent and still "match" in many important ways.
I was picking up my oldest daughter from preschool. I read a list posted in the classroom that asked, "What do you think is beautiful?" Malika's answer was, "I think my Momma is beautiful." Later, I thanked her for the complement. She asked if our skin color would match when she grew up. When she realized that we would never "match" she was devastated. This story tells of how I responded to her reaction, transforming a difficult moment in to one of beauty.
Hmm! Now antics make sense
