Any cat specific you want to pair Jayfeather with if you go down that route? Jaypoppy is a interesting alternative but who knows with the dark mirror au

It would be interesting, I do like the potential for that relationship, and if I do go that route it would likely be between those two. Buut I also really like friendships, much more than romance tbh. So him and Poppyfrost just being besties and Jay acting as a pseudo dad is my preferred dynamic.

Ok so. I was thinking that leopardstar and stonefur are pretty similar to Emma and mr knightley* respectively (obviously not 100% match) and that they learn and grow from each other like Emma and mr knightley. But there are also other parallels like mudfur and Emma’s father (concerned with everyone’s health vs. being a literal doctor) and blackclaw and mistyfoot marrying each other.

* Emma’s knowledge that she doesn’t need to/won’t marry if she doesn’t want to, matchmaking (which is kind of a thing in LSH but I know you haven’t read it), plus the personality match. Mr. Knightley trying to advise Emma/ see the consequences of her actions.

And then there’s the whole “if I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more” quote which comes from mr Knightley but if we’re being real, could apply to both leopard and stone.

I’m not really sure about Harriet in this, since I think Sasha would be the closest equivalent but I’m not going to put tigerstar in mr. Martin’s spot.

It’s not 100% fleshed out and i would have to re read Emma before actually doing anything with it but I have So Many thoughts if you’re curious (or would love to hear anyone else’s).

I promise I haven’t forgotten about the ficlets, I’ve just been really busy and saving them for a day when I was running low on motivation to write. I’ll get around to them today and then later tonight I think I’ll get back on the Po3 reread. I appreciate that all of them involved female characters because tbh? I do think it’s kind of embarrassing how little I write female characters. I really should get around to rectifying that.

Thoughts on firetiger? Any specific headcannons or aus you wanna share?

Oh I am a very big fan of FireTiger! One might consider it Old Reliable, even, haha. There are a lot of different ways one could take the idea, and I enjoy darker themes as well as more casual and light ones, but angst is always important with FireTiger!

One of my favorite fics is @mallowstep's break me like a promise, which I won't link but will note content warnings for the age gap inherent to the relationship, as well as depictions of grooming. The reason this is one of my favorites is because of the perspective being offered on how easily things could have been changed in the context of the story (which is what we as writers do with a lot of our aus, right?). It's a very compelling read.

Like with some of the other "taboo" ships I like, I enjoy the cultural inspection of the situation the parties would find themselves in. Tigerclaw is not a young warrior (weird timelines aside) and Fireheart was made a warrior early. Looking at how they get close and why, what circumstances allow it, how things look when their relationship gets more cemented--how does the clan respond, how does Goldenflower respond, etc.

Other fun aspects to include: is Fireheart involved in the upbringing of Tawny and Bramble? Is Cloud still brought into the Clan, and where is he in relation to this?

All of that lends to more serious prose, theoretically, but also there can be things like "that darn Fireheart sure does wriggle a lot in his sleep, better wake him up at midnight-thirty to get some of that energy out--oops he's very pretty in the moonlight, I wonder what kind of prey he likes" gay panic Tigerclaw. Similarly, one could try a "that Tigerclaw sure is big and scary and imposing and confident and reliable and I wonder if I could get him to teach me some moves so I can be a better warrior" take. Let us not forget Fireheart's narration refers to him as Big and Handsome quite often, lmao.

that's right. warrior cat "daemon" au! it was a lot of fun to puzzle this one out, haha. i think it counts as a daemon au. mostly. sort of. look i consider it one and thats what is important.

its also a love letter to leafpool. but. it was always going to be, i think.
