Okay, I want to take the time to talk about boobs, and hear me out.

It's important.

I haven't been around much lately, I'm okay. I've been busy taking care of my mother in law with dementia. But, my sister recently found out she has breast cancer.

She had her first mammogram at 41, and unfortunately, we found out yesterday, it has spread. We are still hopeful it's treatable, but y'all. If you are 40, or about to be, or know someone who is, do not put off getting a mammogram.

Get one asap.

Procrastination is not in your favor with this.

If you have a family history of cancer, talk to your doctor and get a mammogram and genetic testing sooner than 40. I'm 38, just had a mammogram and found out I also need to have an mri every six months as well because my boobs are dense and apparently that increases risk.

You can even get them younger.

Sooner is better.

Don't ignore symptoms. My Mom put off seeing a Dr for pain in her side and passed away from bile duct cancer. I cannot emphasize enough to listen to your body, and go see your physician.

I knew someone who's cough turned out to be lung cancer, someone else's painful urination was bladder cancer.

Check that prostate and colon too, all the bits, whatever bits you've got, get them checked. Please.

If you've been putting something off, this is your sign to make the appointment and get it done.

If you've never been checked, it's not too late. If you think you're too young, you are not.

So please, talk with your friends, family, relationships, situationships, frenemies, neighbors, whatever people you have, help keep them safe.

I had my first mammogram today due to potential problem (all good, yay!) and why are there not more memes of this??? It's a panini press. Ur boob gets squished into a panini press. I'm imagining hydraulic press noises and "bad boobs go into the boob squisher" in bold white text and it'd be funny and ✨educational ✨

In about 20 minutes I'll be having my first ever mammogram. I can't say I'm looking forward to it but it's too important not to go and have the procedure done, especially as, because I'm adopted, I have no idea of my genetic family's medical history. Anyhoo, in I go! 😊

in ongoing breast cancer bullshit…

So in October I had my 6 month MRI of my breasts. They found two spots of “enhancement.” I burst into tears at work when I got the call, I was out of commission for like 30 minutes.

Next step was a MRI assisted biopsy. Fun times, they could only see one spot. Turns out clear, but now I need surgery for the other spot.

So a wire-localized biopsy was scheduled for this past week. They literally put a fucking wire in my breast to point to the area to biopsy. It’s gross, don’t Google it. The surgeon also tried to revise my previous scar because of the keloid.

Good news, still cancer free, but emotionally traumatized.

Get your mammogram, do self exams. (I unintentionally overheard a cis man getting a mammogram they sat my wheelchaired ass right next to a mammogram room). Save your own life.

Mammogram today. I felt totally fat-shamed at the hospital/clinic. They gave me this TINY robe to put on. I could just get the middle tied closed--open like a V above and below. Could barely keep my nips covered in the fucking waiting room with it. I swear the other women waiting had larger sized robes on, but they were thinner, still, the robes went down to their knees, this one didn't even cover my ass (I had shorts on so that didn't matter, but the not covering my boobs was not cool.)

Finally, sitting there so uncomfortable with my arms crossed over my chest, one worker asked if I wanted a larger robe.

IF YOU HAD LARGER ROBES, WHY DID YOU GIVE ME THIS TINY PIECE OF SHIT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

And I wasn't the only one. After I got a larger robe, another lady sat down across from me looking exactly like I did in that small robe, tugging and pulling and crossing her arms trying to hold it all in. And she wasn't that heavy. (I told her to ask for a larger robe, THEY HAD THEM, but when I came out she was still sitting there looking so uncomfortable in that small robe. We shouldn't HAVE TO ASK FOR SOMETHING THAT FITS!)

On Monday 5th September I went for my first ever mammogram. On Monday 12th September I received a call back for further tests. I've to go to a teaching hospital about an hour away for these on Tues 20th Sept. I'm sure it's nothing. Fingers crossed 🤞😊
