Payback - Mark Hoffman x Reader

A/N: I do write Noncon on certain exceptions but tbh I can't really see him doing this? So I wrote sth different, hope you still like it!

Summary: Hoffman tries go get back at you for disrespecting him, but soon realizes his error.

"Stop. Touching. My. Work."

Hoffman slammed his invention on the table in front of you, your startled self clumsily dropping the tools you were currently tinkering with.

"Hey, Mark" you welcomed him with your most polite smile, trying to stay friendly even though he was apparently not up to something good.

"That's Detetctive Hoffman for you" the man growled deeply as he came closer, with you backing off until your back hit the wall.

God knows how he even noticed that you did adjustments on his trap, yet it was certainly not to mock him. "B-but you don’t understand. I-I wasn't-"

“Just shut the fuck up for once...” Mark slammed both his hands to the wall right next to your head, effectively trapping you in between his arms. “Next time I see you mess around with my stuff, I’ll kill you.”

Just for the fraction of a second, Mark’s eyes would soften as he saw tears glistening in yours - yet his words would stay as sharp as knives. “Don’t you dare fucking crying on me...you’re a goddamn Jigsaw apprentice, you have no right to whine.”

“I’m sorry...” you sniveled quietly, making yourself as small as humanly possible. “It won’t happen again, boss.”

For some reason, your response only infuriated him more, even though he could clearly see how you were already shaking, thus not faking your respect for him. “Don’t try to flatter me, I’m not that stupid.”

“But stupid nonetheless” Amanda’s voice came from behind Hoffman’s back, but the man was too broad for you to see anything, his body in front of you blocking the view. “And what’s that bullshit about killing her? I’d love to see you try.”

You wouldn’t be alright with Amanda always being so harsh with Hoffman, but her boldness was amazing nonetheless - since the man terrified you even when you did nothing to provoke him.

“Y/N got more talent in her pinky-toe than you have in your whole body” she continued and finally he would turn his attention to her, freeing you from that situation. “That’s why she needs to re-engineer your stupid ass traps. Maybe a caveman like you should stick to the manual labour.”

Hoffman wouldn’t say anything, but to you his silence was even worse than his outburts of rage - god knows what’s been going through his head right now.

Amanda wouldn’t care, however - she plainly shoved a heavy piece of metal in his hands, casually ordering him around. “You still need to install the counterweight on the shotgun. And don’t touch anything else, I don’t have time to repair any of your mistakes.”

As fast as your friend had come to your rescue, she disappeared when all of you heared John, coughing heavily at the other room - leaving you alone with that brute of a man again.

Unable to think of anything to say - and also not thinking your words would matter to him - you reassuringly put a hand on his shoulder. Yet Mark immediately pulled away, his hostile expression making you feel sick.

“Never fucking touch me again.”

That was the last time you had seen him.

Ever since John and Amanda had been killed during their last test, Hoffman controlled every aspect of the game - and he had made it particulary clear that you were not part of it anymore.

And now that even the police knew the identity of “Jigsaws Monster”, it was like Mark had been vanished from the face of the eart.

But why are you remembering this right now?

Your head felt as if a thick haze had been laid on your brain, which was persistent but slowly disappearing. It was dark, that much you knew even through blurry eyesight and only now you would regain sensation in your limbs.

Actually you should feel more afraid in that vague kind of situation - but it awoke a naive hope inside of you: The inevitable reunion with the man that wanted nothing to do with you - yet you wanted it all the more.

That feeling vanished into nothingness when you tried to rub your eyes, but found yourself unable to do so. You were lying stiffly on your back - from the feeling of it on a mattress - with your wrists and ankles tied in an outstretched position...

...and oh my god, are you naked??

Your eyes fluttered shut as bright lights on the ceiling were turned on, and finally you could fully grasp the situation you were in.

This must be a deathtrap.

All the signs were there - the abandoned, run-down room, you being in restrainments...fuck, even a puppet of Billy was placed across the room!

“Hoff...man...” you croaked out from your sore throat - and as if you had summoned him, the door creaked open.

The man stepped inside, dressed in the usual all-back clothes, leather boots and functional jacket -  like he always was when he would implement Jigsaws work.

“Long time no see” he greeted you in an almost spiteful tone, obviously enjoying to see you in that helpless position.

You would desperately try to press your thighs together to keep him from looking, but your legs were tied so they were spread apart. “Fuck, Mark, what are you-”

He cut you off with a look, a long steel knife placed on his lips. “Shh...haven’t I told you to call me ‘Detective’? See, I really need to teach you some respect...”

Oh, he has waited far too long for this moment.

That fucking cunt Amanda had it long coming, and soon Jill would get her fair share as well...

...but they were all insignificant compared to you. This one he will enjoy...slowly and painfully.

"I want to play a game” he whispered as he came closer with firm steps, chuckling darkly as you were struggling in your restrainments. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you die - but maybe you’ll beg for it.”

“Shouldn’t-” you cut yourself off, not knowing if saying anything might enrage him even further. “Shouldn’t I have the possibility to escape?”

“No.” That was all he said before the man had threwn himself onto the bed, his face just inches from yours.

What a shame his hands were gloved, but the sensation of your silky skin under his palms was thrilling nonetheless. And he would lie if he said that he didn’t fantasize of what it’s like to roam your body just like this before...

Hoffman’s warm breath on your ear send shivers down your spine, goosebumps involuntarily rising on your skin. “How do I look...?”

“What happened to you?” And you meant his mind rather his body. It pained you to see him that way - not the scar, though, but who or what made him suffer so much that he behaved crazy even for his standarts. “You need to stop!”

The man angrily bared his teeth like a feral animal, squeezing your cheeks together to force you look right into his eyes. “Don’t play dumb Y/N...I know you had something to do with this.”

“I haven’t!” you yelped as the man straddled your waist, his weight making it hard to breathe. “I’ve been looking everywhere to find you! I know nothing. I only ever wanted to help you, I swear!”

“Bullshit!” he now screamed, an almost desperate accent in his voice. “You’ve always looked down on me. So now, I’ll give you a real reason to despise me...”

“Look at the camera...this will be my last memory of you, after all...” Your eyes widened when his words drang to your ears - and when Hoffman turned around to the Billy doll, whose eyes were blinking red, you understood. “You sick bastard...”

The cold steel he pressed on your skin made you suck in a pained breath, while Mark was eagerly observing every little twitch, every sound or expression of yours. "I should repay you for that scar...maybe you won’t be so arrrogant anymore, if I make some adjustments on that pretty body...”

This was just too much for you to bear - being helpless and completely at anoter person’s mercy, just like back then. Naked and trembling and hurt, feeling used and humiliated and all alone in this cruel world.

But you wouldn’t show him - you wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of your pain. Not this time, and certainly not like that.

Yet much to your surprise, the blade was only ever ghosting your skin, running over your face down your neck and collarbone - was he enjoying your suffering, or just hesitating? He wouldn’t know for himself.

“But I don’t hate you!” You had tried to keep it together, you really did - but your vocal cords were cramping as you supressed the tears. “I never did...”

All this time, you would’ve done everything - no matter how painful - for his sake: S person that wouldn’t even acknowledge you. So why the hell does he insist on knowing your intentions, even though he didn’t know a damn thing?!?

Tears of sadness and frustration made their way down your cheeks, but the man in front of you showed no mercy.

Quite the opposite: It made him sick. And for a long, long time already.

Like the way his heart would clench whenever you directed that fake ass smile at him, or how his guts would start twisting whenever he had made you scared or even cry.

Because against all reason, deep down Mark Hoffman held emotions for you he didn’t thought possible to feel anymore. In your presence, he remembered what those fucked up games made him lose - his sanity, morals and most important the chance of a normal life. Of being loved.

“Pathetic...” You shuddered at the pure resentment in his voice - but little did you know he meant himself. For he knew that you could never love a monster like him: Someone that didn’t belong - not even with other murderers. Old and sick and mutilated, destined to either be catched by the police or be killed in the act. 

Yes. You despised and were now even disgusted by him, and Mark fully understood...

...but if he couldn’t have you, then no one should.

“You are nothing to me” he almost whined, giving it his utmost to not let the facade drop - yet his hands began trembling, the sharp steel accidentally scratching your shoulder.

The cut wasn’t deep, but it made you hiss either way. Hoffman uttered mute curses under his breath, and you might’ve even heared a ‘sorry’ as he tried to stop the bleeding with his sleeve.

“Mark...” His heart sank to his stomach as he heared you coo his name, so full of compassion and without any grudge. “You don’t want to do this. Let me go, please...you don’t have the heart to do this...”

"I don’t have a heart.” His jaw tensed as he watched you squirm beneath him, affectionate eyes boring holes in his skull.

The way you were looking at him even after everything he has done...it only made him realize being unworthy of just being close to you a thousandfold. “Stop looking at me like that...”

“I said STOP!” he roared and in the heat of the moment, Mark’s hands wrapped around your throat, hesistantly cutting off your air supply.

That was it - the last straw.

Because last time someone touched you there without your consent, it was...

“No!” Your mind went completely blank, a tunnel view on the flashbacks of your trauma. Sharpened survival instincts lend you unknown forces, while you screamed as loud as your lungs allowed you to, even while being choked.

Hoffman was frozen in shock, jumping off of you and hands immediately retreating from your neck. He could only helplessly watch you having a breakdown - he’s had his own fair share of them to know this was one.

All the memories you had supressed were flooding your soul right now, as if the sensation from earlier had teared down a wall in your brain. No words would leave your lips other than distraught shouts, the bed shaking due to your struggle to get free.

Your agonized whimpers were the only thing pushing back the madness plaqueing Hoffman’s mind, replacing it with unbearableconcern and regret. In no time, the man pulled a key out of his pocket, undoing all the locks around your joints.

Immediately, due to still being in shock, you elbowed his chin - and Mark very well knew he deserved this. But in this state, you would eventually hurt yourself, and he couldn’t let this happen.

“Hey...” Hoffman bit his lip, being at loss for words. “I-I’m here. And I won’t let anyone hurt you.” What a farce, how hypocrytical saying things like this while being responsible for this mess.

The tall man cradled you into his arms, taking all the violent self-defense you tried to pull against him - yet he wouldn’t let go. “Shh...listen to my voice. You’re not at that place anymore. It’s fine. It’s fine...”

God knows for how long it took for you to come down to reality again, but Mark was already covered in bruises as your yells slowly turned into fratic cries. You would reciprocate his hug, holding onto him for dear life and it tormented him even more.

“How could you do this to me? You are so cruel...” you sniveled as Mark covered you in a ragged sheet, his eyes downcast in shame. “I don’t know.”

What the hell was he supposed to do now?

It is dangerous for him to stay. He was not in control of his own mind, and it he couldn’t forgive himself if he was to put you in more misery just because of his own selfish desires. Maybe he was better off dea-

“...the reason I became an apprentice was you.”

Your confession made him meet your eyes again, an apologetic and unbelieving look on his face - but for the first time, he accepted that you weren’t lying.

How could you even tell him? Was that really a good idea, or would it make him even more instable? That’s the exact reason why you kept it a secret all this time...

Taking a deep breath, sighing deeply, you closed your eyes and decided to finish what you started:

“Seth Baxter raped me.”

Mark’s lips began to tremble, shaky breaths getting faster at the cursed name he thought he’d never have to endure ever again.

“Shortly after he got out of prison” you added, and he swallowed harshly. If only he had killed that bastard earlier, then you would've... "This right now was nothing compared to the things he did to me."

As Hoffman ceased to respond, you began to panic, tugging on his sleeve. “I-I mean...I never got to thank you. Thanks to you, I feel like justice has been done. I can go outside without fearing he’s still there.”

“...and I hurt you just the same.” Mark buried his face in his hands, before letting out a raging scream. “Fuck. FUCK!”

"Stop tormenting yourself" you ordered softly, opening his balled fists and taking his hands into yours. You knew very well how it is when your mind is your own worst enemy. "That's the reason we're here after all."

"But I don't deserve-"

"Shut up." Putting your index finger on his lips, your mouth curled into a pained smile. "It's alright. I forgave you already."

“...you’re almost as fucked up as I am." With those words, Mark pulled you into his arms again, hand getting tangled in your hair as he pressed you against his chest.

"Everyone has their reasons."

Hoffman wouldn't waste another thought to his own self-hatred - not anymore, now that you had opened his eyes.

It was indeed not too late for him. You cared about him all this time, and now he was given a chance.

If Mark could've been forgiven by you, then one day he might as well forgive himself for what he had dragged you into. He'll become better - for the only person that mattered anymore. Giving you a life you deserved against all odds, wipe them all out if he has to. No matter how or where, but from now on, he would never disappoint you again.

"That was the last time someone hurt you, i swear. I'll protect you at any cost."

nie mingjue’s outfits appreciation post

This is way longer than I expected oh gods, please forgive me for it. 

 It’s a well known fact that Jiang Cheng has the best wardrobe of all CQL characters, I’m not here to argue with that, but I think it’s time for us to stop sleeping on Nie Mingjue’s absolutely fantastic fashion sense.

I mean have you seen him?? The man is out there serving looks even with the Nie sect limited color palette. Please let’s ignore the context here and just look at his robes

I wasn't sure if I should rank them, so I’ll just ramble about them in order of appearance:

1. The gray “I’m the boss” one

That’s the first time we ever see him and what can I say? He does leave an impression. We see him using these robes two times, in episodes 10-11 and on the beggining of Fatal Journey, as the first picture shows, which makes me wonder: Is this his stay-at-home set of robes? ‘Cause damn

I don’t know how I should comment on the particular details of his robes but I really appreciate how wide this extra fabric layer makes his shoulders look.

Really imposing and powerful look.

2. The Sunshot incredibly beautiful "this is how you win a war" one

Look, this one might be my favorite, it has EVERYTHING

Shoulder game is strong here, and this bronze-like color goes really well with his belt. Now let's talk about his outer robe for a moment, just THE COLOR I mean it's the prettiest shade of gray I've ever seen.

Also Long Sleeves

And a CAPE. A f**king CAPE. I'll never get over this look and I'm really glad the costume department let this king wear a cape again in Fatal Journey, he was made for it.

Next comes the inner layer that's not really a robe, as you can see when he's standing, but the silver pattern is what really does it for me, guys. It's probably the first thing you see once you look down from his face, 'cause I know we all get lost on that beautiful mustache, and it's perfect.

You can’t lead a war campaign if you don’t look good, I see.

3. The "I didn't really want to be here but I’m looking good anyway" one

It's so dark, it probably reflects how he was feeling during pretty much all the scenes he's in while wearing it.

Once again he accentuates his shoulders with an extra fabric except this time his sleeves are not long at all. I personally think he looks even more handsome like this, it makes his arms look bigger. What is it called? I don't know, but it matches his belt as well.

( Is it really a belt, guys? I don't wanna disrespect but I don't even know where to start looking for names nor I know other english names for belts)

The subtle golden/bronze details on the outer robe and on the inner robe's collar contrasts really well with the black and dark gray

Sad thing he looked really miserable wearing it :c

4. The "big event he seemed ok with attending" one

Dark again. But he didn't look as depressed as in the previous one, he actually had fun that day, which is good. Enough of tears and betrayal for now.

May be the wider sleeves he ever wore, perfect for clapping his hands like a happy toddler. There's also a lovely flowery pattern on the darker robe that you can easily miss if you don't pay enough attention.

For the first time his shoulders are not accentuated by fabric or shoulder pads and it's really nice to see him like this. We all love a buff Mingjue, but CQL Mingjue is not that buff and I love him just as much.

Really elegant, not as imposing and he has every right to want to look civil for once. It may be the series' way of telling us that he's not dressed for real combat or war, who knows.

5. The "all this just for a flashback?" one

Listen, this one right here is just AMAZING

I don't understand why they dressed him so beautifully for what? 10 minutes of a flashback. I wanted to see it for more than a couple os scenes!!

Everything here is different, so this will take time.

First: His inner robe, the first one, is not the usual black, it's light gray, it's lighter than his robes actually, and we don't see him wearing it like ever again since chronologically in the series this is the first robe he wears. Does it secretly mean that all went wrong from the moment he met MY? who knows

Second: The outer robe is fancy. There’s so many details to it and it may be the lighting of the scene, but it seems to be a warmer shade of gray, doesn’t it? The golden\bronze thin strip around the silver larger strip is perfect. It kinda has the opposite effect of his shoulder pads, since it makes his shoulders look a bit smaller but it’s so very elegant.

Third: The upper part of the inner robe. I mean who gave him the right to look that good ??? It’s dark but it has golden little shapes in it!! And it kinda looks like there’s a zipper in there because of that mid section. And oh to be a single jewel resting over Sect Leader Nie’s chest...

Fourth: The bottom part of the robe is also something new. We see pleats on Huaisang’s main robes, but never on Mingjue’s until now, that’s why I took the last screenshot, nothing to do with the bloody Baxia at all. I wish we could have seen them in pretty pleated robes together.

It probably contradicts what I said about his shoulder things being a code for battle, since the first thing we see him doing with this outfit is killing some guy/puppet; but for the rest of the time he wears it is peaceful

Honestly, imagine how Meng Yao felt. It was some fairy tale thing, wasn’t it? You’re a nobody eating bread and drinking water and then this king pops up out of nowhere and defends you from bullying and offers you a job and takes you home with him?? 

6.The “kick your local murderer down the stairs” one

I don’t really know what to say about this one. The context kind of ruined it for me, but let’s try.

 It resembles the fourth outfit since it’s a really dark inner robe and a lighter and patterned outer robe. Except this one has this nice and shiny thin strips around the sleeves and the waist.

It’s pretty but not especially pretty in my opinion. If I were to rank the outfits, this one would rank last.

7. The “fighting qi deviation and needing emotional support” one

Fatal Journey, baby.

I know what I said about the second one, but this might be my favorite.  It’s practical, no long sleeves or heavy outer robes. It’s also appropriate for horse riding, wich is great. The simple, sleeveless light gray outer robe is really nice.

There’s a cape again!! And I have to say the cape looks even better now that his sleeves are tighter, the way it falls gracefully on his back is perfect. I love the way it seems to be attached to the shoulder pad too. 

The robes are simple but the thing is: The accessories are not. 

His belt is now silver and if we ignore that the production team just painted it, we can assume he has two sets of identical waist belts, one is bronze and the other is silver. Now the final touch: The shoulder pads. This is what makes this outfit the most extra of them all. It’s silver and just so, so pretty I wanna cry everytime I look at them. I mean, the layers, the dragon\beast entire head makes him look so fierce and ready for the fight.

 I wonder how comfortable they are tho.

10/10 would rank first place.

bonus: Baby Mingjue

We love a consistent king after all! Has he been wearing dark robes since he was a baby? We will never know. I love this dark yet translucent outer robe tho.

1000/10 the cutest and best dressed child out there.

Conclusion: Nie Mingjue is a fashion icon!

I’ve been working on a Dream SMP Pokémon AU :D

This is pretty lengthy it’s all under the cut.

Okay apologizing now for spelling mistakes. I didn’t have my Pokédex on me alright.

This AU takes place in Galar, but the starting Town is named L’Manburg. And also Circhester is Snowchester

Tommy is The main character you play as. (So when I say you, I mean Tommy. But when I say Tommy I also mean you y’know). He chose a fire type starter, a Scorbunny he nicknamed Cat. He also has a Zigzagoon named Mellohi, a shiny Venomoth named Clemintine, Joltik named Shroud, and a Tauros named Henry! He loves his Pokémon a lot, and makes sure to nickname them.

Tubbo is the rival/best friend! He chose the grass starter, Grookey. He has a voltorb, Deerling, a Spoink he shares custody of with Ranboo named Micheal, a Wheezing, and miraculously, Xurkitree. He refuses to say where he got it.

Ranboo is the ghost gym leader who Tubbo convinces to come with him and Tommy, and get the water stater Sobble despite hating all water types. Also has a backstory with Team Dream, but doesn’t know much due to memory loss! He also seems to have a skin condition causing his skin and hair to become dual coloured. His team consists of Alolan Marrowhack, Lampent, Banette and Yamask!

Dream is the leader of Team Dream, a diabolical team that steals Pokémon! SapNap (fire-type leader) and Gogy (bug-type leader who of which only has Pokémon with the “sleep spore” move) two of the higher-level leaders, think it’s all for the fun of it and for the better of the region but Dream actually has them steal for power!

Tommy and Tubbo go and defeat Dream to retrieve Tommy’s partner Pokémon Mellohi and Cat. The odd thing about Dream is insists on fighting Pokémon himself, sans Pokémon. Rumor says his partner pokemon abandoned him.

Puffy is the fairy-type gym leader! She uses a repurposed water-type gym, so her gym challenge and stuff is all pirate themed. She helps the hero’s periodically throughout their journey! Also Watch out for her Jigglypuff, it knows Sing!

Technoblade is the current champion is the region, and Tommy’s big brother! He uses seemingly only Emboar to win every battle. Technoblade never dies!

He ends up helping Team Dream during the finale, being one of the bosses you have to defeat (he was peer pressured okay!). It is also revealed during that fight he’s where Tubbo got Xurkitree!

There’s also Wilbur, who is Technoblade’s twin brother and Tommy’s big brother, who failed at defeating all the gym challenges and ran away. He started helping the hero’s many times throughout their journey until he moved ahead of them in the gym challenges (The bench trio had plot stuff to attend to). He made a bet with Philza, the flying type gym leader and his dad, that if he lost he wouldn’t try at being champion again for 6 months. He lost. Nobody knows where he ran off to, but when he comes back with Dream (and on his side too) it’s pretty clear his mental health didn’t fair well. He used to have a partner Pokémon, a Nickett named Fundy, but he abandoned him fairly early on in his journey. He comes back to defeat Ghostbur when Dream makes him fight you during the finale! Also Wilbur has a Drillbur and a Timburr simply because I think it’s funny.

There’s Philza Minecraft, the flying-type gym leader and Tommy’s dad. He is the last leader you face before the bracket. His partner Pokémon Corviknight likes to perch on his back and make it look like Phil has wings. Tommy is two Pokémon down during this battle (it’s when Dream has possession of Cat and Mellohi), but he still wins! Tommy thinks that Phil let him win so he doesn’t pull a Wilbur and run off to be a villain.

The regions scientist is actually two people, Sam Awesome, who’s name tag jokingly says AweSamdude, is kinda the R&D part of the lab. He made a little robot furret named Sam Nook that essentially acts like Navi the whole time, bothering Tommy with unhelpful info. Sometimes helpful tho. The other one is Dr. Opsby Ponk, just called Ponk, who gave the Bench Trio their starters! But don’t go to her for medical advice, he’ll just feed your Pokémon lemons. They they grew them herself tho!

There’s also Team Egg. A Team of trainers who’s been mind controlled by a Pokémon egg! The egg won’t hatch, it has vines, is psychic, and no scientist can get even a little bit close without being possessed themselves. The leader of this team is a man who only goes by the alias BadBoyHalo, the dark-type gym leader. During his gym challenge is when you find out about Team Egg. All his Pokémon gained the typing of psychic after being possessed. His second in command is a man by the Alias of AntFrost, a cat-like Pokémon only user, and during the after-game Both Sam and Ponk were effected by the egg trying to study it. And the most bizzarre edition to the Team Egg crew is a man with diamond skin named Skeppy. You meet these misfits periodically throughout your journey, but never really fight them until you defeat Dream.

During the big fight finale, it is revealed that Dream has been conducting experiments to create the ultimate Pokémon-human hybrid. He experimented on Ranboo, the first test on the kid ghost gym leader, and that’s why he has no memory and has black-white skin. His other tests where the Pokémon egg (where it’s revealed a man named Velvet is inside it!) Charlie and Skeppy. And the big big reveal is that he experimented on Wilbur too! He was the only success, being both human and now ghost type! (Nicknamed Ghostbur by Dream)

Dream succeeds in turning himself half-Pokémon during the finale with a big fancy cutscene, but then Tommy gets Cat and Mellohi back along with he and Tubbo getting Zamazenta and Zacian (this still takes place in Galar lol) so he’s defeated! (Tubbo is the one who gets the final hit!!)

Unfortunately, Team Egg is not defeated along with Dream so it’s kinda the after story. After the finale is also when Tommy defeats Technoblade on in the official match and becomes the new Champion! Tubbo loses to Tommy and Techno, but is still happy he even got to try and that his best friends are happy!

There’s also Quackity, the leader of an underground fighting ring. Very illegal but very fancy, but no-one goes there. There’s always a battle but no trainers or spectators! He has one of the failed Pokémon-human experiments named Charlie, a human-Dodosion hybrid.

SapNap is also the Fire-type gym leader, but was also on Team Dream. He left the moment he found out Dream experimented on people, and took Gogy (the big type leader) with him, which ultimately made Dream snap finally make himself half Pokémon. Gogy fell asleep during your gym challenge.

Niki runs a little bakery for Pokémon, and is somehow in every location all at once. Don’t ask her how. The original location is in the same town as Puffy’s gym.

Eret is the curator of the museum, a plot revelant location and she kinda makes you solve a bunch of riddles and tests before he gives you the information you ask for. They show up in the end too, waving a giant pride flag to try and give Tommy’s side some gay protection.

Foolish is a talking Pokémon himself, and takes place of Calyrex. He’s a totem, and your goal in the DLC is the same as Calyrex but you run around a desert. I still haven’t completed the DLC but I wanted to include foolish don’t @ me.

Purpled is one of the trainers you battle in the bracket and kinda takes place of Bede but not a jerk, and is the closest Tommy gets to losing other than to Techno and Tubbo.

Both he and Foolish join Las Nevadas in the DLC. (Oh yeah, Las Nevadas the underground fighting ring is explored more in the DLC.) ((Btw When I say DLC btw I really mean like, Tommy can start it at any point but can also wait until after all the story and after story. The second one is what I assume they did because that’s just how I played Sw/Sh but it’s up to interpretation))

Jack Manifold is another gym challenger, a steel-type user. He’s from the same town as Tubbo, Snowchester! He streams all his Pokémon battles, and is the one who encouraged Tommy to do the same.

Debuff Zane Build

i am tired of not seeing this build in all the zane build videos i watch so im sharing it here because its stupid fun bc u run fast and kill faster. it’s not meta, but its fun as fuck and u have a lot of damage and survivability with it. I’ve completed M4 Slaughter Shaft with it- haven’t tried on M10 yet but i have faith. p.s its 4 am pls have mercy if there’s spelling mistakes.

what ur gonna need is a band of sitorak, zheitseiv’s eruption, a seein’ dead, and the piss grenade. everything else is fair game, whatever u want. try to get it to have the sntl cryo anoint bc good. but u must have the 4 main items for this to work perfectly (it also somewhat works with a low level Frozen Heart bc best shield in the game but you will die a lot more)

this is my current loadout

sometimes i switch the reg Q-System for a kaoson or a nighthawkin if i need ammo (OP QSystem is... OP but not as fun as a tracking grenade QSystem so i don’t care for it) and maybe the brainstormer for a reflux if many shielded enemies (i prefer the brainstormer over the reflux atm. so try for a brainstormer!!)

3rd slot, that’s a monarch which used to be a dictator b4 it got a straight upgrade. I actually don’t use the bipod unless im in a boss fight and don’t need to move fast. usually violent momentum and violent violence cover the dps loss

ur first 3 gun slots honestly don’t matter much. I have my reasons for using them, but you can use whatever u want i think, so long as its a strong weapon (bc unfortunately a lot of weapons are not scaled for m10). u dont HAVE to use the monarch or the Q system or the brainstormer. I recommend them, cuz theyre fun, but u don’t gotta if u wanna swap em out for a a kaoson or a yellowcake or a sandhawk or smth

the last gun is my zheitsev’s eruption. This bad boy, when u reload, shoots out homing balls of debuffery. So every enemy that gets hit with these gets a debuff. I have tried this with the needler but I prefer Zheitsev’s bc it can hit more enemies and once and takes less time. this gun only goes to Blane (ur clone). 

for the skill trees we have no points in under cover even tho brainfreeze is the best skill in the gaaaaame

explanations: 

really the hitman tree is p self explanatory, u wanna go fast as fuck boiii. My band of sitorak does not have the +15 movespeed while zoomer is active anoint (it has the break shield amp anoint, which is p okay. want movespeed, but a nice human from the reddit gave me this sitorak so i didn’t have to farm). u want drone delivery bc Blane will NOT be throwing grenades. If you try to make him throw grenades with the seein’ dead he will ONLY throw grenades and never fire his gun, meaning he’ll never reload. it’s a nightmare. anyway. u want the piss grenade (ideally with the +25% damage on thrown anoint). im not looking forward to regrinding this when they finally mayhem buff grenades.

we put one point into playing dirty because we want those extra shots and honestly with the amount of times seein’ dead can proc ur kill skills you’ll have it more often than not

we also have points in good misfortune for that sweet sweet uptime (which btw can be infinite using the brainstormer/reflux bc it is essentially a redistributor without the need for ur barrier) the monarch/dictator also does it justice

for Blane u DON’T WANT praemuntis. we want blane reloading as often as gotdamn possible. now unfortunately my seein’ dead gave me a +weapon mag size roll (im actually not sure if this affects blane, but im assuming it does) but it does have the amazing +5 donnybrook so I’m taking it anyway. I am so not looking forward to regrinding a good class mod when they finally release action skill buffs for them. i cri. i actually hear 3 points in donnybrook and 2 in violent violence is p good (or 1 in violent violence 1 in playin dirty) so maybe grinding won’t be so bad. maybe i’ll finally get a +weapon damage roll

u can grab 1 point in ducttape mod and put 4 points into borrowed time if you want. it doesn’t really matter. i current have 5 in borrowed time and 3 in pocket full of grenades (for some reason??? usually i only put 2 in.). U can do that and use those extra points for either ducttape mod or more points in playing dirty. 

u NEED quick breather. This skill has a STUPID interaction with the band of sitorak shield because of how quickly it recharges. I’m talking, the instant you swap with Blane, you have full shields and so does he. It’s dumb, I love it. Use it to get out of trouble.

so im probably gonna need to explain why i have 3 points in trick of the light: im a cryo slut. That’s it. put those wherever you want, just make sure you can get Double Barrel. i’ve seen builds where people actually go for brainfreeze, i might try that next time i respec.

Double barrel will make it so blane can use the zheitsev’s eruption and debuff your enemies for you. it’s worth it.

so the augments u want are these:

SCHADENFREUDE. because band of sitorak has such a tiny capacity, ur shield is constantly up. If its not, it’s constantly breaking from full capacity. this does have a fun effect with the amp shield break anoint, but mainly i like it for the 25% damage buff whenever it breaks. its a tradeoff for damage, ur constantly swapping between max shields and more damage, so its actually p constant survivability and damage over the long run.

i grab doppelbanger bc blane sometimes gets stuck in the floor and/or i don’t feel like running all the way back. i wouldn’t recommend getting which one’s real or digital distribution only bc u want him alive as much as possible. u can also get binary system instead of doppelbanger, its up to you

for Zoomer u want bad dose for the movement speed and (sometimes) static field (only if the enemies have shields). this is so if blane goes down or he isn’t taking damage, zoomer can refill ur shields. if the enemies won’t have shields usually i grab winter’s drone or boomsday depending on how i feel.

im actually gonna try to see if i can’t grab brain freeze. hang on. i know trick of the light is frowned upon for most people so lemme just respec. (im sorry i just love the vibes it gives me it’s like HAHA you thought that was me? no!!! boop. and then they’re ice sculptures and man i love h2o i wish emma had frozen more people the only people she really freezes are Greg and Miriam and honestly she doesn’t even kill Greg smh. (Greg is dr denman’s assistant. greg is highkey god.) I do like what she did to Mirami, the fucking implications that YES these teenage girls ARE powerful enough to instakill people, they just don’t out of the kindness of their hearts. Rikki was badass that episode too. actually i love the episode where rikki almost boils a dude alive for making a fool of her with ILLEGAL F I S H and burns people using steam from a pipe. rikki is my favorite mermaid- she knew what was u p. I wish mako mermaids was as badass as h2o was. and the cartoon. god imagine the cartoon violence. sigh. let them use their op superpowers to be SUPERHEROES. like in h2o au i have baron flynt puppeteer people to their deaths from Thor bc he has cleo’s powers like why couldn’t she do that to someone. so i think im gonna have to live with the slower reload speed (sob) but yes u can in fact get brain freeze with this build. lemme show...

so ye in the event u just can’t live without freezing people (i know the feeling) feel free to do this. imma play with this for a bit and see if i can live with slower reload. I actually depend on the 100% cryo with zoomer active for all my cryo damage. i also use an ice breaker so they freeze fairly easy (but only on mobs. on bosses u want the snowdrift or something else)

this build isn’t really meta and u might have trouble doing a solo run of true takedown on m10... bc its true takedown on m10, but honestly it’s fun as F U C K. you CAN do it, but it’s not no thoughts head empty like barrier-redistrubutor/yellowcake zane can be so u gotta be on TOP of ur SHIT. i love it. running around killing stuff. it’s fun. i also love teleporting. it’s my FAVORITE THING. I STILL GET GIDDY OVER IT BECAUSE IT’S SO FUN. ask my friends, they will tell you, sometimes i’ll just start gushing over how much fun it is to teleport even though i’ve played zane since release. just. GFDGHKJGDFK so much fun. i just... b o o p. god i love this game. i took a break to play assassin’s creed odyssey (fun sneaky beaky game, pretty awful dialogue) so DAMN i missed this. 

here’s a link to a video I took on athenas (my favorite area to run. it’s this game’s bloodshot stronghold!) this is the playlist i listen to while playing Zane. i keep swapping songs during play bc sometimes they don’t fit my vibe or i get tired of them lol (spotify control is hooked to my 4th and 5th mouse buttons so i don’t have to stop playing) i forgot where my shock sandhawk was in my inventory, is what i use to demolish traunt. i was so scared i threw it in my bank earlier on sanc-iii lol (also yes i still slap blane’s ass. it’s to encourage him to kill)

I know this is a really vague thing to ask, but do you have any tips for writing Shigaraki? I know Echodrops made a whole meta about fanon Shigaraki vs canon Shigaraki but do you personally have anything in particular you'd want to mention yourself about the portrayal of Shigaraki in fanfics?

(Here’s the link to @echodrops‘s post! It’s really, really good, and helped me figure out Shigaraki a lot in the first place. thank you!)

oooh! Not at all a vague thing, this is a great question. I started all this meta because I wanted to figure out how to write Shigaraki as well. A word of caution tho, because this would be my personal interpretation of Shigaraki, though I’ll try to use as much manga examples as I can. As always, super long post. 

Note: images are edited to fit exact quotes to relevant and reasonable sized images, instead of a whole manga page

Here’s some hand man characteristics/traits that I think are overlooked:

Shigaraki Tomura, in his beliefs/values, has a tendency for all-or-nothing thinking, to be extreme in his actions. In all three of his incarnations - the oneshot Tenko, the draft Sazanka, and this current one - a core of the character is 1) finding something flawed/bad/had hurt him somehow 2) completely loathing it 3) vowing to destroy it. 

Tenko despised samurai and their warring, and wishes to rid the world of swords. Sazanka is on a quest to kill quirk-users with quirks he deems too dangerous for society. And Shigaraki has decided that the Heroes and justice system is a farce, and is out to destroy it. 

Kinda fitting for a guy with his quirk - he either doesn’t destroy something, or destroys it completely. The moment he makes his decision, it’s fast and permanent. 

For Shigaraki, murder is murder, destruction is destruction, violence is violence, no matter how you dress it up. That’s why he couldn’t see the difference between him and Stain. That’s why he can’t see that Bakugou, as aggressive and vicious as he is, still wants to be a good guy. 

Now this is my take, but I think his mindset is: Because All Might can’t save everyone, he’s a fake, he’s trash; because everyone will say they condemn murder yet go about their lives carefree even though they know logically someone is out there getting killed, morality and justice is an illusion; because justice is so fragile and flimsy, I will expose it and destroy it. 

Not in any goodwill or for a better society, mind you. He just hates it. 

He also has no illusions about himself or his actions, he knows he’s evil.

Shigaraki is a lot more sarcastic and sardonic than usually portrayed in fanon. He’s very rude and can be foul mouthed, but the real insult comes from his tone and behavior. He condescendingly calls Eraserhead cool. He calls Stain the ‘Great Senpai of scoundrels’. He points out to Overhaul how a wakagashira/underboss like him should be more polite. Just about half of everything he says is dripping with mockery, and he’s very breezy and irreverent. So a bit less ‘I hate you, fuck off’, and more cheek.

Adding to that, if I’m reading my Japanese right, Shigaraki can change how he addresses people depending on the person and situation. His default speech is rude, but he’ll talk somewhat (barely) politely-ish if needed; it’s just it’s very obvious he’s not taking it seriously. 

Related, I feel like Shigaraki says a lot of things he doesn’t really believe. He tries out concepts, half-heartedly, on a whim. There’s that infamous speech at USJ about Heroes and Villains both using violence - which does seem to have some semblance to the actual ‘two sides of the same coin’ that even Best Jeanist talks about. 

And here’s him considering Stain’s effects on heroes, with gusto, before ditching it.

I know it’s Smash!, but here’s him reciting some sort of pseudo education philosophy he picked up somewhere??? to Kurogiri to get out of exercise. 

He’s a total smartass 

Of course, this brings up the question, is he genuine in his speech to Bakugou, or to Toga and Twice? 

 Like Echodrop notes, he can be in a good mood. He can be (seem?) happy, he can smile, he will acknowledge when someone does a good job of something. 

Sure, it’s got a manic edge to it, it’s probably not coming from a place of good, fluffy, innocent feelings, but he can laugh, enjoy the moment, be psyched about something. 

I really like this scene because he actually giggles a bit. He squeezes Midoriya, and he really does seem excited for a chat. 

He’s quick to go back to being default cranky tho. Quick to enjoy, quick to get irked.  

Shigaraki is a weirdo and I love him.

 My boy is smart. Really, Shigaraki is smarter than he looks. In the Ultra Archive, his profile lists his intelligence as ‘A’, ranking him above most characters, including Midoriya. I get that Deku’s whole thing is being the strategizing main character, but Shigaraki’s just as analytical. Even the Smash! Comic points this out. 

His room is filled with books, so either he reads a lot or he hoards them to look smart. I think it’s the former. Well, it’s not mutually exclusive, I should know.

He thinks and reflects and questions. He was super pissed about Stain, but he realized Stain was right and tried to figure out why. He went on a walk to calm down and just ruminate. He sought out Midoriya just to get second opinion. Afterwards, he quickly sees the bigger picture and realizes the issue is systemic and he’s gotta attack the structure. Of course, kinda shaky on the specific details and it’s not endgame long term, but still impressive. 

There’s a lot of Villain!Deku fanfics - and I like them a lot! - that turns Deku into the criminal mastermind or makes him the brains behind Shigaraki’s operations. Which is fair, Deku could totally be one! And also a lot of fics where Shigaraki is dismissed, with everything he does being AFO’s machinations. Again, fair. But Canon Shigaraki is AFO’s successor and leads the League for a reason.

This also means, I think, that Shigaraki isn’t as clueless to the fact that All For One is manipulating him. This point is entirely debatable, though. All I have to back this is how Shigaraki wondered if he was lied to in the USJ.

Even tho he’s facepalm crusty boi neet, Shigaraki is still a very dangerous S-ranked villain. I feel like sometimes people forget this. 

 He’s not that childish. He can be immature, he’s still learning the ropes of being a supervillain, he’s got an irritable and sullen disposition, but he’s not a five-year-old. He’s also not completely unhinged. 

When things don’t go his way, his first response usually isn’t to shriek or whine or immediately snap. He’s got a clear head and a good sense of what he can and can’t do. Kurogiri is down, All Might escaped their grasp, but Nomu’s still active? Cool, we got this. It’s only when Nomu gets team-rocket-ed that he panics. Stain stabs him? Doesn’t start a fight right there and then, asks Master for some Nomu, is patient enough to wait until he decides he really can’t stand Stain, then finally gives the go ahead for a rampage. 

Shigaraki knew from the start he can’t handle All Might. That’s Nomu’s job. As much as he hates All Might, he doesn’t jump at the chance to kill the hero personally. He’s not ruled by impulse or easy distractions, not really. And he will back down if Kurogiri reasons with him - see accepting Stain as a party member, see letting Toga and Dabi live. And after he got his motivation, he’s been very restraint since. 

He doesn’t immediately destroy his things in anger - we only see him destroy only few items pre-mall talk. He decays binoculars, a photo of Deku, maybe a newspaper, all quiet and deliberate. Kurogiri’s bar is intact and clean, despite being the long-time hang out spot of the destructive Shigaraki Tomura. Would he decay a controller after losing a game? Maybe, but also just as likely maybe not. 

Shigaraki will complain and bitch and sulk and hold a grudge, tho, yeah. He will lose it after a series of stressors/things gone wrong. He can be moody, cruel and sadistic, bloodthirsty and mayhem-loving. But he’s got himself under control more often than not. 

Finally, video games: My biggest pet peeve about portrayal of Shigaraki in fanfics: He’s super obsessed with video games, to the point that he plays them all day long, and he can’t stop using video game slang for everything - or so a lot of the fandom believes. 

I’ve pointed out before that we’re more likely to see him reading the newspaper and we’ve never actually seen him use a console ever in manga or anime. True, he likens scenarios to games frequently, but not all the time - the USJ fight was when he did that the most, then in his other appearances only once or twice during the whole scene (Doesn’t want Stain as a ‘party member’, none at all when meeting Dabi or Toga and then at the mall, camp arc has him seeing himself playing a Sim instead of an RPG, calls All Might ‘last boss’ during the raid, then nothing for his next appearances). At least not out loud. As fun as it is to imagine him as a geeky gamer, and he is, but he does more than just that. 

I think Shigaraki uses video games and media to create mental scripts for himself to understand/interact with the world, but it serves as a skeleton. He fleshes it out, always adding to that mental model to create a more complex one. He calls his change of strategy as playing a Sim game, but it’s a good analogy that works for him, and we see how layered his plan is - dealing a blow to UA that works whether the Vanguard succeed or not, kidnapping Bakugou and Ragdoll, in order to bring about the media and public criticism of UA/heroes, and had it not been for the raid, something would’ve happen to Bakugou that would’ve demoralized everyone. 

He def is grounded in reality enough to know what he’s doing is more than just a game.

Okay I know that kingdom hearts has a bad reputation for sticking crucial plot information on obscure spinoff games but HOLY SHIT I just finally watched a lets play of the fuckin digimon tcg game and found out it ACTUALLY HAS A GODDAMN CONCLUSION TO ANALOGMAN FROM DIGIMON WORLD 1

like 90% of the damn game has no plot whatsoever let alone indicating its a digimon world sequel! and then suddenly in the last battle without being foreshadowed whatsoever analogman returns and gets possibly the best boss battle ever IN A GODDAMN TCG GAME

holy shit his whole fight is framed as ‘this is literally the same guy from digimon world 1, hacking another game’, the interface wigs out and a bunch of fake command windows pop up with rapidly scrolling code of the game supposedly falling apart. And then his boss battle flips the entire gameplay system on its head by giving him fourth wall breaking special moves that pull overpowered effects by “hacking the engine”, with cool animations to fit. Fuckin badasssss!!

and it also fuckin FINALLY EXPLAINS THE DAMN PLOT LIKE GEEZ

digimon world’s conclusion was so rushed, you never even meet the villain until the final battle and it ends all weird with just “something” going wrong that causes him to get sucked into a portal or something while screaming dramatically in weirdly high resolution terror faces??? the tcg game confirms that this was him attempting to flee back to the human world after you defeated him, but one of the stray attacks from the battle damaged his machine and it caused him to essentially commit accidental suicide when he turned it on.

and HOLY SHIT MY FUCKIN OBSCURE HEADCANON IS TRUE????

the game had some sequel bait hints that maybe analogman is somehow still around and that the portal explosion just turned him into “corrupted data” so he can never return to the human world. and i always thought it would be super ironic if he actually got turned into a digimon aka the thing he hates more than anything

WELL OKAY I GUESS CRITICAL LORE IN A TCG GAME IS OKAY WHEN ITS A BIG YES BUNNI U THEORY BE CORRECT

he appears in this game as a malomyotismon who does a damn good vexen face during the fight, lol. And he’s all “gahh that stupid kid ruined my plans but this accursed body at least improved my hacking abilities!” Tho its implied that his corrupted state is more like a bodyless cloud of data that can possess/copy different digimon, which would be REALLY FUCKIN CRITICAL to explaining the goddamn plot of Digimon World Next Order!

Seriously wtf is up with this series? Digimon World 2 is not the sequel to Digimon World 1, all the numbered games are entirely separate individual stories with wildly different genres from pet sim to roguelike strategy. The real sequel is fucking DIGIMON THE CARD GAME THE GAME and then Digimon World Next Order a bazillion years later for the ps4. In which i am STILL REALLY SALTY that they have a FUCKIN RAD remix of analogman’s boss theme yet he doesn’t appear in the game. The added context of this damn tcg game confirms once and for all that the Ambiguous As Fuck Ending actually WAS him appearing in the game, this unexplained “oh wait the villain was good all along and he was just possessed by an evil virus” was supposed to be corrupted-digi-analogman and seriously WHY DONT THEY JUST FUCKIN EXPLAIN IT!!! this tcg game wasnt even released in europe!! and even american fans probably had no clue it was linked to this entirely separate subseries! You have to friggin piece it together with context clues like the battle music and the fact analogman’s signature mon was machinedramon. I mean vjesus christ Next Order is a litera; sequel with the grown up version of Digimon World’s protagonist as a badass home ec teacher who still defends the digital world in his free time yet you couldnt spare ONE LINE OF DIALOGUE mentioning the name of the villain?? and summarizing the fuckin tcg game everyone missed??? AND CONFIRMING THAT THE VILLAIN IS INDEED MAKING A REAPPEARANCE POSSESSING THIS GUY??? oh god everything makes SENSE, thank you terrible card game adaptation. ehh but i do still love Next Order for making Hiro/Mameo’s canon partner Mamemon, he’s even more badass as this big tough bishie version of himself with a tiny adorable pal that can shoot rocket fists through space and time. (its funny tho cos the DW1 intro movie showed metalmamemon and metalgreymon and the american boxart flipped a coin and decided metalgreymon must have been the one the protagonist was using in that scene. Whoops!)

anyway even with the added context that IT WAS INDEED GODDAMN ANALOGMAN, the final boss fight in Next Order was as terrible as the rest of the plot. So I’m glad trash gramps got a suitably badass boss fight after all, even if it was a CARD GAME VERSION! lets all celebrate the awesomeness of this obscure fuckin spinoff game’s obscure fuckin intercontinuity cameo with the boss fight music that other game wasted

seriously fuckin hell the biggest challenge in that final boss was that i was so distracted by SHEER OFFENDEDNESS at the cool music not matching it that it was hard to keep focused

its not just a great boss theme for a terrible boss, its a really fuckin EMOTIONAL song for anyone whose childhood was fuckin defined by the first game!!!

and look you had a PERFECT FUCKIN EXCUSE for a REALLY GOOD boss battle against MY MAN GRUMPY GRANDPA OF THE COOL DAMN NAME. Seriously guys analogman was THE FIRST digimon villain! digimon world came out before the anime, digimon world was the BETA FOR THE ANIME! this was the first place they had the ideas for file island, so much of the areas in the game are awkwardly mistranslated versions of stuff that would later appear in the anime in a different form. before this digimon had never been anything more than a fuckin 2-bit graphics tamagotchi and this was (after the manga) only the second goddamn time these monsters had an actual full colour character design! all of those charmingly janky 90s gross out show styled tcg illustrations? that was concept art that this game was working from! fuckin hell this game thought up the idea for metalgreymon’s changed design that ended up becoming the iconic partner of tai in the anime. (you can also see beta tai in the manga with a beta veemon as a partner instead! o_O)

all right i got about ~3 hours to get my shield and beat zelda lets fucking do this

the temple of time music is breaking my heart

this is one place where i'm mostly ok with them not using a classic tune for it tbh

like this music has so much grief and tranquility

i used to think the plateau was SO huge and really it's almost miniscule

what a good game

honest crit: no, it wasn't PERFECT

i could have stood more classic tunes to punch me in the feels more often and give us more of that old #aesthetic since they changed SO much about everything else - at times it didn't even quite feel like a zelda game, though the reminders that it WAS were always heartbreaking and wonderful

also maybe this was just my playstyle but i feel like there could have been more than just the four dungeons since they were so short...i know the dungeon-y puzzle stuff was spread all around with koroks and shrines, but is One big dungeon too much to ask? even hyrule castle had 1000 ways you could have gotten through

could have stood a little more acknowledgement of who you were and what you were doing as the divine beasts started waking up? like from npcs and shit, not even for Glory or whatever but just because the story felt reeeeeeally spread out, even with the memories scattered everywhere

and again a little bias here but some of the battles once you began getting Up There were a little TOO fake-difficult...i saw white bokoblins in old old places so i know it has to do with You, not your location, and i could have lived w/o it tbh

would have loved some form of new game + or postgame content, but maybe i'm just sad bc i misunderstood a spoiler or w/e it was that happened

things i loved:

the music

the cinematics, holy shit

the voice acting

when they DID use classic tunes it was to INCREDIBLE effect, same with the castle style, the ruins, even the nostalgic armor

obviously the open world gameplay was delightful and addicting, i literally couldn't get enough

the final boss battle wasn't too hard but VERY climactic and wonderful, just difficult Enough - could have maybe been a BIT harder but then i did start with him at half health!!

the dungeons, while there weren't enough of them, were EXTREMELY cool, i felt DWARFED by those beasts, after i saw the first one i never called them jaegers again

actually kind of liked the weapon durability thing bc then i could just pick them up during combat when i was running low and steal them or fight with them, throw them, etc

did not like the BOW durability, all my bows broke VERY quickly, that and running out of arrows always was totally urgh...even with my weapons inventory upgraded i STILL couldn't hold all the cool ones the game threw at me, it needed to be like that for players that favored the bow - more of them that were OP, more arrows, etc

anyway i could go on and on but

i gotta sleep, and

i'm so happy zelda is free

it would have been so cool to have her as a companion in post-game, Somehow

or at least see her reunion with all those who missed her

or see link get his memories back

it ended a bit too soon but it was beautiful and i loved it

sammya kei’s 2016 fanfiction review

it’s time for something no one asked for but yet since when do i care about people other than me

it’s time for a new tradition! i’m going to take a trip down memory lane and talk about my top 10 fanfics from last year and go into depth about my top five! 

top ten (in no particular order): 

Stumbling Boy, The History of the World in Your Arms, the heart of an artist, Working Man, Dissolution, The Catch Up Game, Finding You Wherever You Are, taking the last train home, To the Moon and Back, onward

i picked these ten as my faves cuz when i look back at myself in 2016 these are what i’m most proud of. they each show off what i think is my ever evolving writing skills. 

now let’s look in depth at my top five! look at those below the cut! 

5) onward

lemme state for the record that i...i love aqua with all my heart and soul. i fell in love with her character in 2010 and i haven’t stopped loving and wishing her the best since. when kingdom hearts 0.2 was announced i almost cried. when the video for the opening came out i literally cried. however...onward is not a happy fic. i’m not someone who can sit down and write mushy gushy stuff. 

take this passage for example

Her name is Aqua. She repeats that to herself daily. Not that there is a daily, so maybe she repeats it more often than she realizes.

“My name is Aqua. I saved Terra. I have to go home. I have to wake up Ven.”

These words become her mantra. They get her through it, even has hoarse as it leaves her voice.

onward was just written cuz i was realizing that the first ever kh fic i had ever written was facade which was literally about the main villain of the series having sex and turning evil. anyway, aqua deserves more and maybe in 2017 i’ll find time to write her a nice long fic. we’ll see. 

i’m just nervous about writing her cuz i love her so much....

4) Stumbling Boy

this is part of the dysfunctional family funtimes series and is one of my faves that i wrote in 2016! it’s the mid-brother fic to nadia’s fic from 2015 aka Separation Anxiety that she needs to finish...which i hope she finishes...but we’ll see lol. it’s all about ginshi dealing with his brother’s disappearance and i just am crying because why is ginshi canonly dead and i cannot deal...MOVING ON 

my fave passage from this would be...

People thought that Ginshi tumbled through life, stumbling upon things, but he didn’t, not really. He did do some things deliberately and with care. When he was working on a car, he was able to lose himself. He threw himself into studying, and watched his understanding grow. He’d always liked fussing around with cars, but having a job that he was getting paid to do it at was different. He was different.

And to show that, to really show that he was different, that he was changed, he decided he needed to find something to change about himself physically.

So that when Urie did return, he could point at it and say, “Look, I made my own choice too!”

Stumbling Boy was something that i think i wrote in 2015 and then posted in 2016 but even still...it was nice to rework it and post it. i can’t wait to finish the dff series...

3) taking the last train home 

originally posted under one of my many, many pen names....this was supposed to be a hardcore BDSM fanfic. it...it’s not going to be that. i’m sorry. i’m a disappointment. i am too sex repulsed to do that to myself. so i moved it over to this account. 

anyway...this isn’t just a fic about sex which is why i got really, really annoyed with some comments i was getting. like...the first sexual scene doesn’t even happen till chapter 8 aka over 11K words later....so okay fandom...whatever. anyway that fic is locked to anyone who doesn’t have an ao3 account but enjoy this snippet! 

“If you need me to stop just tell me so, all right?”

“Because I’m going to get so overwhelmed by a kiss on my cheek.”

Yao pushes up on his chin and grins down at him, “You’ll get overwhelmed all right.” Those are bold words, Alfred thinks, but doesn’t get a chance to say so before Yao kisses him.

taking the last train home still has a quite a few more chapters to be posted and i hope everyone enjoys the ride. it’s probably going to end up being the longest amechu fanfic on ao3 that’s completely about amechu with them as the endgame? so...yay for that. #actuallymarried indeed

2) The History of the World in Your Arms

this used to hold the title of my longest amechu fic posted...but then taking the last train home came along and stole that title...ahah. anyway. i wrote this in order to figure out WHY i shipped amechu and maybe talk others into shipping it too? 

rereading it makes me wanna die...and i wanna rewrite it but i’ll resist for now. 

anyway here’s TWO snippets from the fic that i love! 

here’s from yao’s pov 

Yao looks at him, lying in Yao’s bed as if he belongs there, as if he’s always belonged right there against the pillows, and says simply, “Then that’s a fair exchange.”

“What is?”

“My ruin for your ruin.”

“Are you saying I’ve ruined you?” Alfred demands, looking confused. Which is a look that suits him.

“Yes,” Yao says, “you’ve ruined me.”

and the second one from alfred’s pov 

“It would be so much easier if I just hated you and wanted you gone. But I don’t.”

“You don’t?” Alfred tries not to sound so surprised by that, and fails. Yao looks hurt, and sighs.

“I don’t hate you,” he says quietly, “I told you years ago that I loved you, didn’t I?”

i can’t help but see a canonverse relationship as them being very, very rocky and uneasy but then they settle into something that goes beyond them and we eventually get to a point where they get married....and yeah i’m not over that picture. i could cry....

1) Finding You Wherever You Are 

speaking of art--and specifically of art that izzy has done--i’m still not over the leash in this picture after i told her i was JOKING. this fic holds a special place in my heart due to several inside jokes i have with izzy being in it. for those who are still reading at this point i’ll let you in on two of them! 

1) yao telling alfred “i know” when they’re doing something sexual or about to 

2) please mock izzy for dogfred this isn’t an inside joke this is just something i need others to make fun of her for at this point smh 

um yeah moving on 

this entire fic is basically aesthetic actually? bad boy rolls into town and finds his true love? CHECK! reincarnation? CHECK! royalty? CHECK! blood drinking? vampires? monsters? oh my??? CHECK!!! 

fave comment i got on this fic was someone stunned at the world building i did in 13K+ i’m honestly surprised too? i wrote this fic in like...a day. and by a day i mean 10-11 hours. with a sprained arm. go me? 

anyway fave snippets in no particular order!!!! 

1) 

“May I?” Yao asked, and he sounded so polite as if he were asking for something normal and not permission to lick blood off of Alfred’s hand.

“Um,” Alfred looked down at his boss, and then at the stove which was on the opposite side of the kitchen (how had he moved that fast, the fuck ) and shrugged, “Yeah, sure.”

Yao’s touch was tender as he pressed his lips to the back of Alfred’s hand and licked at the blood that was coating it. Alfred had never realized how sensitive his hands were until he got unlucky enough to have Yao devote his full attention to licking and sucking against the skin. Yao sucked one, and then two of his fingers into his mouth and gave them a wet suck, and Alfred realized that he was standing in his boss’s kitchen, with his fingers in his boss’s mouth, and he was hard. His breath was coming out loud and heavy to his own ears as Yao continued, seemingly oblivious to the effect that he was having on Alfred. But then Yao looked up at him, with three of Alfred’s fingers in his mouth and smirked.

He smirked, slid Alfred’s fingers out of his mouth, and then licked finally at the bleeding wounds. As Alfred watched him, and as Yao watched his hand the wounds sluggishly stopped bleeding.

“You should still wrap that up,” Yao said as he dropped a kiss to Alfred’s knuckles. “Learn how to control your temper, Alfred.”

2) 

“Where to next, your majesty?”

“Says the noble.” Wang got on the bike behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist once more. “Do you know the way back home?”

“I’m like a lord yeah but I’m pretty sure you were a king in your past life.”

“You wouldn’t be wrong ,” Wang said.

Alfred grinned, “How old are you anyway?”

“Far, far too old for this. Take me home, pup.”

3) 

“You are a wonder, Alfred,” Yao said. He sounded sad and fond as he said that. Alfred’s heart ached .

“So are you, thousands of years old and you still wanna change the world.”

“The world can be changed, Alfred, never doubt that.”

Alfred laughed, and then in disbelief at himself said, “I have full faith in your abilities.”

4) 

Alfred helped him put the bracelet on, and then kissed him. He growled low in his throat.

“Yeah,” Yao said. “I know. Look at you, all nice and collared and mine .” He looped his fingers in the golden buckle and made Alfred follow him back to the sofa.

“Look at you,” Alfred said, torn between the leather of the bracelet around Yao’s wrist and Yao’s face for which he wanted to look at more.

okay....

as you can see even tho i make fun of izzy constantly for dogfred i do really like this fic? it’s a bit rushed in places??? but tbh it gets the job done and gets it done nicely! good job me. 

so that’s my trip down memory lane! yeah. i just love writing and i like writing fanfics? but i will be moving on to original writing on my site starting this month and you can support me on patreon. i’ll keep writing fanfics but those will be low on my ranking of priorities.

Finally continuing with the msq, need to note some things

ended up putting many screenshots in here by the end

I... have not been quite so sure on what the Final Days actually were for a while now. It all seemed vague, but apparently it was explained in some detail and I just forgot.

“Though yet confined to the lands across the sea, a terrible phenomenon afflicts our star. They are calling it the “Final Days.”

"Once that happens, all is lost. Fear, pain, despair...every dread impulse is siphoned from our minds and given substance: an eternal fall of fiery rain; an incessant spawning of nightmarish beasts...”

“ ...Yet oh how the star had suffered. So many species lost. The land was blighted, the waters poisoned, and even the wind had ceased to blow.“

Alright I got completely sidetracked 1. because good story 2. I was sorta racing this other guy bc I’m like that but also helped him at one part so it’s all good. I’m now sitting waiting in queue for the final boss. I hope he manages to catch up with that last dungeon and queues for this in time to be in my party that would be fun.

This whole sequence still gets me so giddy, man. That last cutscene was funny because I was in my dancer outfit which. This doesn’t show much but look at his cute lil flowers.

oh damn that’s what the actual screenshots are like, the one saved by the game. slaps the title right on it huh. Anyways this was such a serious scene, the WoL challenging Emet-Selch for the fate of the world, and for hurting their friends. And Doran’s making his stand in a loose top and short shorts. I’m doing the final boss as DRG cause cannon class and I prefer it in solo fights over DNC... it at least looks a bit cooler. The light here isn’t exactly flattering but impromptu picture:

I think I’ve mentioned before how goofy his face looks at times. This is one. Catch him in the wrong lighting and he looks so so so weird. Actually this image is still bad cause it doesn’t show his claws, or his pants very well but whatever. Oh, and you can’t see his horns very well at all... I’ll have to take better pictures later.

oh my god. we skipped an entire mechanic that was fun. and i got 2 comms :) i uhhhh didn’t actually play well like, at all? probably should have done something else to try and remember how to play DRG lol. forgot to use my dragon eye for so long. and after the phase change i didn’t use blood of the dragon in time to get off my full combo the first time. butttttt it’s fine there were plenty of others with probably capped gear to carry me.

Anyways it’s official I’d die for Doran. Love this dude who is debatably also me but not really. There’s a positive message about self love there I think. Something freeing about taking a character you project onto and making them cute as shit and putting them in stupid also debatably sexy outfits. I have not taken a picture of my taking outfit yet. I’ll have to do that soon I am quite proud of it it’s funny.

Very cute. Very unfitting for that one cutscene. Nice to have him mistaken for a girl. I’m glad that my level 80 relic weapon goes well with my outfit. The same cannot be said for some others. Why are SMN and DRG’s weapons so ugly? It’s unfair. AST’s is really pretty and I’m using it now.

Hydaelyn... made each party member a Warrior of Light in turn, only after they had made a suitably heroic sacrifice. What of our WoL, then? They received their first crystal after- actually no this line of thinking is stupid. The WoL was obviously chosen for a very specific reason. That’s why they were able to collect more than one crystal of light. Probably them being Azem, and... whatever they did during the time of the Final Days.

really long gbf ramble about my wind team under the cut

okay but in the last week my wind line up changed dramatically from

bc tia got a 5* uncap and i got valentine grimnir, and wind favored gw is like literally tomorrow,,

but honestly shit man valentine grimnir is like actually absolutely perfect for my specific set up. like i can see him being real low tier for certain set ups, especially early game. because you basically need a set up with some form of charge bar boost for him and frequent multi hit skill damage to speed up his cyclone lv gain (which tbh the 30 hit damage is only really going to happen when the boss is only one enemy which oops lol hl yggy, medusa (normal and hl), and baal are all not just one enemy but oh well). plus you want some form of damage cap, especially skill damage cap increase. i could probably have better skill damage cap increase (which is really what i should work on now), but as of now i do have sk lv15 qinglong spear malus, and 5* tia’s skill that boosts skill damage specs based on allies wind crests. what does suck is one once tia reaches 5 crests crippling storm becomes surpercell, which is great but it no longer gives wind crests to allies. HOWEVER BACK IN NOV I DREW ELIL, AND SHE CAN APPLY WIND CRESTS AND HAS A SUB AURA THAT BOOSTS WIND ATTACK BASED ON NUMBER OF CRESTS, SO DRAWING HER HAS FINALLY PAID OFF. Now unfortunately tia doesn’t have the most amazing multi attack, though i have 3 points in her em support skill that boosts her multi when not debuffed, and two in her trip, i also don’t really want to try and reroll her over mastery because she got 8% skill damage cap and 6% debuff resistance which both help even though they aren’t that high (and i’d rather try to reroll val grimnir bc he got da and that’s useless for him since he’s guaranteed to trip). Scathacha doesn’t have a multi at prob bc her sup skill boosts her multi when wind atk is applied (which is 100% uptime with her being lv 100), +5% trim from em and +12% double from over master (which also gave her a 12% skill damage cap) (AND I GAVE HER A WEDDING RING BECAUSE I LOVE HER AND WANTED TO RAISE HER DAMAGE CAP, I actually skill have one em star to fill, but bc it’s the last one it requires 28 points but im not 100% where i want to put it bc i have everything i wanted maxed taken, the 2 attack nodes, 2 def nodes, and 2 da nodes are all empty and the only ones left, i guess i could prob put it in da just bc soooometimes she does only attack once... but idk if maybe putting one in def or in just attack would be nice...). I don’t have too much problem Multi atk as Solider class with my class bonus of +10% trip, and +4% da and +2% da from master bonus and +5% trip in em (i didn’t bother putting any in da bc of bullet management, and once i could take bullet crafting off i put it into weapon spc damage bc my grid is still tia bolts and i’m using all 34 stars as of now bc atk, hp, def, skill damage, debuff success, ca I & II, total party hp, ta, damage cap, and one in skill damage II). But anyways, because I have the class champion weapon, John Doe, I don’t have to bother taking the reload skill because I reload on my ca. i take mis mist to hit def/atk down cap with tia, open fire & guerrilla tactics. now with guerrilla tactics when active if i dodge an attack i do 4 hit sup elemental damage to random foes (which helps val grimnir out) plus it boosts my chargebar gain, which when I wasn’t using tia in my part was necessary for starting the never need to reload cycle, since with the chargebar gain and then using open fire to fire all 6 of my bullets, it basically be like i just did two turns of trip attack (getting all the benefits of the bullets used) and gain an instant ca for the actual first turn of combat. then the second turn use the three round bust to use my three bullets and then be guaranteed to trip on the second turn of combat and get ca for third turn (but also ca doesn’t just reload my bullets it gives 30% charge bar boost so there’s no worry about making sure i have boosted charge bar to reach ca before using all my bullets for the rest of the fight, unless i get unlucky and a boss drains my charge bar, oh well). But the other important this I did to John Doe was the second skill i picked. Gunslinger’s Divinity. it’s basically a similar effect to guerrilla tactics, 4-hit sup elemental damage to random foes at the end of turn. except you don’t have to dodge, you just have to not take damage. both of these 4-hit superior elemental damage triggers also tend to be about 1 mill damage when triggered. but more importantly, when you’ve only got one boss enemy, with these it’s infinitely easier to hit damage one target 30 times to increase val grimnir’s cyclone lv. since his attack is 3-hit damage to random foes... 3 times... that guaranteed 9-hits. now idk how ca damage is counted since like if you don’t skip the animation it’s clearly multiple hits, but i do think it count’s because i’ve had his cyclone lv go up when the hits would not have added up to 30. though it also makes me wonder if poison damage counts as well, bc one of my parabellum bullets is poison (which i can always switch out to flame if i ever feel like it like bc maybe a boss is immune to poison but not burn). But anyways aside from the extra hit damage synergy, the other great synergy val grimnir has provided is his ougi buffs. bc man it might suck that his ougi does no damage, except it the buffs it provides are wonderful, yeah keen and the wind crit are obviously good, especially when you get holy rays of purification on the field and just goes into constant crit mode without even a single last storm harp in your grid. but the shield, yes only three turns, but with scathacha out on the field that isn’t just a shield it’s bonus wind damage for everyone... bonus wind damage for all 9 OF VALENTINE GRIMNIR’S HITS. bc each hit of the 3 hit damage count as separate damage instances and bonus damage, and supplemental damage apply to each one. and with 3 stars in his charge bar gain em node and tia’s 3 turn chargebar gain boost it makes up for his 35% slower charge bar gain, esp if he’s triple attacking every single damn turn. not to mention once you get holy rays of purification out, and you can just start focusing on building up 7 cyclone level’s for divine tempest, with the supplemental damage and skill damage cap increase i’ve got, the 20-hit, 150% wind damage with a cap of ~80,000 per hit becomes a damage cap of ~220,000 per hit and becomes a ~4.3 - 4.5 mil nuke that i can set up every ~4-5 turns (which can also make the debuffs indefinite if they land each time). and so that kinda makes up for his lack of ougi. he just needs times to set up and the right team. and one enemy bosses. like godsword alexiel, who i can almost solo now. (i can solo hl medusa no prob now, i’d done it before but it’s even easier now. baal is a bit of a problem child tho bc he’s special),,, wonder how he is for Gilgamesh, but i’ve only hosted the hl tier 3 summon raids like once for each bc i’m scared.
