WAITING FOR EVERYTHING TO FALL INTO PLACE? LOVE YOURSELF MORE…

But what does that actually mean? It’s not arrogance. It’s a healthy regard for ourselves as a worthy human being. It’s fully accepting ourselves as we are.

Making healthy choices for self-respect, positive self-image and unconditional self-acceptance. Here are some signs we are actually loving ourselves more:

SIGN 1: Realising we are not perfect. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We make mistakes. We can grow and change unhealthy patterns without beating ourselves up.

SIGN 2: We each have a gift. We are loving ourselves when we follow the calling to our unique gift to the world and work on developing those talents.

SIGN 3: We stop awaiting approval from others. We work on accepting ourselves and realising the only relationship we actually have is the one with ourselves. It’s in our best interests to develop that relationship and love ourselves into a happy, fulfilled life.

SIGN 4: Self-love means we can truly love. We can only love another to the degree we love ourselves. Until then every relationship will mirror the nudge to love ourselves more. And that can bring on very challenging relationships.

SIGN 5: We invest in our personal growth. We acknowledge that we cannot keep doing the same things and expect things to change. We need help to grow and develop. It’s with learning, self-reflection and self-awareness that we can rise above whatever conditions and obstacles in our path.

SIGN 6: We take care of ourselves. We take care of our body by eating well, exercising and getting plenty of rest. We take care of our mind by learning about new and interesting things. We refuse to neglect our spirit anymore. We take time for things that bring us into balance and rejuvenate our soul. This helps us deal with the daily stresses and challenges of everyday life.

I’ve known for awhile that many men aren’t interested in a woman with an opinion. An independent woman who doesn’t need him, only wants him.

What I didn’t expect was a man who was intimidated by athletic success. He could be better intellectually and in some sports... but he couldn’t accept that I was good at mine. Better than him. He couldn't accept that without being emasculated. He was good at so many things, athletic, great at many sports, but in mine, I was faster than him. Out of thousands of sports, I was better at 2. And he couldn’t just let me have that and support me and my excitement for it.

It’s a different genre of selfish I didn’t know existed. What a sad life he lives.
