okayy so i just watched civil war for the first time and it was just. Wow. 0/10 would not recommend. but i wanted to ask you- arent the accords a good thing? I saw a lot of posts on here about how they arent and im confused..
listen anon i could not care less about civil war ESPECIALLY in the mcu because none of the emotional beats resonate with me. i liked t’challa and peter in the movie and that was pretty much it
the accords are kind of . very bad on paper (most notably it forces masked superhumans to give up their identity to the UN and “wear tracking bracelets at all times”) but that’s kind of the point imo. from the way i saw it mcu team iron man’s main viewpoint was that with the public already distrustful of superheroes the last thing they needed was to become wanted criminals by the fuckin. United Nations, and that by cooperating they could fix the bad parts of the accords from the inside, because given enough tweaking the accords could be a good thing (i guess). it’s kind of implied that tony & friends managed to do that bc peter, for one, is a masked superhuman who notably did not get arrested for having a secret identity
civil war the movie is much more sympathetic to tony than civil war the comic book, because for one it doesn’t try to paint tony as the villain and the two sides (team cap and team iron man) are on slightly-more-equal moral footing. russo brothers get credit for being better writers than mark millar but thats like. comparing trash to much worse trash
i do care more about 616 civil war though but ONLY because i really really like this fix it fic and nothing else. the actual comic is a dumpster fire and if you hated cacw then dont even think about touching it
