istg this fandom's obsession with redemption needs to END

Morally better character ≠ better writing

Can I just get a piece of media that tells kids "hey, ur abusive parent was an asshole, and even if they had humanity you do not need to reconcile and forgive them in the end" bc I feel like that's what show!Gabriel leans towards which is great

Gabriel barely talks to Adrien in the movie and suddenly when he sees him under CN's mask his entire reign of terror, his determination to see his dead wife again ends in a tearful hug lmao come on now

("but the ending where Adrien suddenly loves his dad again???"- Astruc has been pretty blunt on Twitter that this perfect society you see in S5's ending is built off of a lie, so Adrien is def not gonna just keep that view)

"Adrien actually stands up to his dad in the movie!"

Movie!Adrien is legit a normal human boy, not a sentimonster who is literally physically incapable of fighting back against whoever has his amok

He DOES fight back (even in S1 as CN!), but people like to remember the show only up to S3. Guess what, he learns to fight back and stand up for himself through his growing bonds and relationships with those around him through character development ✨✨✨

Also, he is an abused kid??? In the show?? How can you knock him down a peg for not fighting back,,, 😭 Adrien's lesson isn't that he needs to learn how to fight back, it's that Nathalie shoulda called cps sooner!!! In the movie they are much more of an estranged father-son pair than anything abusive. So obviously the back talk is much easier too. Movie!Adrien gets to go out alone and with friends unless his dad has specifically planted an enemy where he is. Show!Adrien has been beaten, mind controlled, forced to hurt Marinette, isolated and locked up, etc.- he has been TERRIFIED of his dad multiple times.

"Marinette isn't an obsessive stalker in this!"

SIGH.

Man I am so sick of this complaint- the show has never rewarded Marinette for her obsessive behavior. BC IT IS A CHARACTER FLAW. One they use for cringe comedic purposes, but a flaw nonetheless. Every time she has done anything that hurts others in pursuit of Adrien she is punished by the writers. And bc the show has an episodic monster-of-the-week format, this plot is recycled a lot (which is its own complaint). And guess what? SHE STOPS BEING OBSESSIVE. YEAH. SHE STOPS DOING THAT SHIT- so what do you want now??? She grew out of it after it costs her the miraculous so why tf are yalls still hurling this at her like its a L,,,,

This Marinette is just a watered down boring version of show!Marinette. She's just a girl who gets insecure at times but grows confident bc she's Ladybug. Ok. So is our Marinette but MORE. Our Marinette is super smart, creative, resourceful, an overthinker, extremely kind and selfless to others, gets jealous and reckless when her emotions get the better of her, etc. She is fully formed even after watching just 3 episodes of S1.

Like the fact that they didn't even bother to include the oh so important hook of the show- her lucky charm power- shows they didn't care about doing this story justice- its so transparently lazy writing 💀 (miraculous of creation where??? CN gets cataclysm for destruction but what is movie!LB bringing to the yin yang table,,,)

Legitimately all the comparisons I'm hearing from people saying the movie is better are from those who just aren't caught up with the show where Marinette is no longer toxically obsessive with Adrien, where the plot/lore is insane but 10000000x better and more creative than what the movie gave us, the love square was much better developed EVEN FROM JUST THE ORIGINS EPISODES, etc. Istg these people stopped at S3 where the show was at its worst (if I were to pinpoint it)

Everything is so watered down or changed for the worse

Adrienette bonding was 1 conversation and 2 seconds about his mom in a voiceless montage. Marinette didn't fall for him bc of his kindness after a misunderstanding, it was bc he looked handsome in the library's light lol. He called her weird and didn't think twice about putting on his earphones to listen to more alpha podcasts. You really do wonder why she likes this dude over her partner CN bc they have no connection at all.

Movie!Adrien was an asshole don't you dare do show!Adrien dirty by comparing him to this ellen degeneres alien lookin mf

When movie!Adrien is crying after Mari reveals herself as LB, unlike the show, here you're like "yeah no you only like her now bc she's LB lol"

Anyways feel free to enjoy what you enjoy but uuuuuhhhh this movie getting a 3/10 for me would not rewatch

-Visuals

-Some Ladynoir scenes were cute, like them playfully fighting with the accidental wall pin

-I liked Ladybug moving away from CN's kiss- nice hint of angst

You walked into Chan’s studio. He was creating something and so he was distracted… perfect. You snuck up on him. Very easily. This man gets very into his work.

You carefully put your hands on his face from behind and he jumped with a little scream. It was hilarious.

He took off his headphones and looked at you, ‘why? What did I ever do to you?’

‘It all started one day, when a desperately sleep deprived man asked out a desperately touch deprived human,’ you laughed.

He sighed, ‘you’re lucky I love you.’

Minho was petting the cats. He was listening to music.

MY CHANCE HAS COME!

You walked into the room with your hands behind your back and you smiled at him. He squinted back at you then smiled at his cats.

This had you contemplating your life for a moment. This was it, you’d always come in 5th place after Sooni, Doongi, Dori and Jisung…

Anyway, you walked past him so you were behind him. You leaned down to kiss his head then as you brought your hands near his face, ‘I would rethink whatever you’re about to do. I know where you sleep and I’m vengeful today.’

Your smile dropped and you kept your hands behind your back as you straightened up and cautiously walked away.

Not today satan.

You walked into the gym after washing your hands with icy water. You saw Changbin before he would start working out and you walked up to him with a smile.

It was usually a little cooler in here because it would help with whoever was working out as they went on. It helped you plan that he was always cold before he worked out.

He took off his earphones as he saw you and he smiled brightly, ‘how was your work out?’

‘It was alright,’ you leaned in to give him a kiss. As he leaned forward, you held his face with both your hands and he jumped.

His face went sour, ‘you’re mean,’ he pouted. You laughed as you tried to kiss him again but he moved away from you, ‘I have no faith in you anymore.’

‘No! I’m sorry! I’ll make up for it!’ You whined as you chased him around the gym.

Hyunjin spent the whole day ignoring you. Do you know why? Because Kkami wouldn’t kiss him.

So, while your manz was having the breakdown of his life because his ‘child was going through a rebellious phase’, you decided this would be the best day for the cold hands prank.

You came to him while he was dramatically slouched over the sofa with his phone. Looking at Kkami every so often then sighing dramatically and ranting about how back in his day, he always kissed his parents.

You had to stop rolling your eyes an hour ago because you were getting dizzy. He looked up at you mid sentence and expected love from you.

He prepared for a kiss but then you held his face with cold hands… he screamed.

Full volume, bloody murder.

He somehow fell off the sofa and as he lay there, Kkami looked at him. He stayed still because he thought she was about to come to him… she didn’t. She side eyed him and left.

‘I’m going to die alone and unloved,’ he wailed on the floor.

Another rant because Death Game Holic is giving me the chills:

What’s it like dating them?

First off, being with Rei Sakuma at that time is going to be fucking chaotic, but a good chaotic. never stops making you flustered, giving you sexual hints, even going as far as literally making out with you in the backstage right after one of his lives, out of view of Keito and Koga. When he does perform and you have the chance to watch- babes. he be stealing the show just for you (sorry koga). by lord almighty i miss his rough husky voice and he knows you like it too, so he’s gonna be EXTREMELY seductive on that stage. prepare yourself hun.

As for Keito... you probably wouldn’t know why his true plan was for this, and isn’t really his cup of tea, but seeing you so excited by his performances makes him slip just a bit. manz get super flustered around you whenever you flaunt him around like he’s your precious gemstone, but he’s always given a chance to bite back during those lives. with you sitting in the front, your’re from a supportive yet michevious lover burnt down to a embarrassed, horny mess after, and he prides himself on it. Ok i get this guy is literally a buddhist /hj but he just can’t let these rare chances slip away.

Koga- oh boy. You either love his guitar or you’re deaf- he’s ALWAYS playing it no matter the time of day or night. Just as confident off the stage as he is on, he will ALWAYS try to pull a compliment out of you just to fuel his ego and pride. Of course, when you’re little lone wolf gets too rowdy you tug on that lil ponytail of his and he’s all yours, reduced to a blushing puppy. Nah but seriously, you two just love conveying secret messages during performances, kinda like your love language.

Now... leave those as memories, what’s going on between you two now? Is it still a raging love, or has it dimished?

A Top Gun: Maverick Rant

Just saw Top Gun: Maverick yesterday and omfg it was just so amazing that I need to rant

Warning: spoilers, obviously

Miles Teller (Rooster) looked so much like Anthony Edwards (Goose) in the original that I was shocked

Phoenix was an absolute girlboss and I was all for it, babe wasn’t taking any shit from Hangman

Hangman was obviously reminiscent of how Mav used to be and I thought that the whole cycle repeating was a nice touch

Hangman’s name being Jake Seresin made total sense, manz acted like one would expect a ‘Jake’ to act

I kept being hung up on the fighter pilot helmets and the designs on them with the call signs

By far, my favorite helmet had to be Hangman’s

The design of Hangman’s helmet was just fantastic! The chalkboard writing style of the letters, the missing vowels and the _ to represent a missing letter was just genius. I loved how they incorporated the actual game of hangman into his helmet’s design to the point where I don’t think words can describe it

Idk who the fuck this Jenny was but I was okay with it

That scene with Mav out the window though and seeing her daughter…the cringe was real

Mav’s workbench having photos of him and Goose was an emotion in and of itself

Ok but Mav asking Goose to talk to him just-bye 😭

The football scene was just *chef’s kiss*

Real sad to see Iceman like that but apparently Val Kilmer has throat cancer so it was nice to incorporate him but not push him too hard to reprise a role

Was not expecting Mav to just absolutely body Rooster in the snowy enemy territory

The scene where Mav and Rooster steal an f-14 tomcat was not as intense as I thought it would’ve been

Also it just made me think of when you break into the military base in GTA, steal a jet from the hangar, and then crash into another hangar or get blown to smithereens by a tank

I want to know the lore of the call signs so bad!!!

Like, please let me know the origins behind Bob, Fanboy, Coyote, Phoenix, etc

Just watched the finale of Tomorrow on Netflix and a bitch is FuCkEd Up. I have to rant. But before I have to say that the whole show was beautiful and every episode had me tearing tf up . It has a very important message especially for the society we live in today and they handled it very responsibly. All the stories were intriguing and special in their own ways. Lee Soo Hyuk as daddy reaper was so good, so good . This show didn’t have the worst ending buttt…

Spoilers ahead

The fact that Choi Joon-woong didn’t remember them in the end is like ?? They literally went through all that together for him to ask “ yo, who are you guys?” when the team shows up again💀

There was such good buildup for the romance between Ryeon and Joong-Gil throughout with all the clues and suspense and then in the end yeah he takes her place to go back to hell and it’s a sweet sacrifice yet ?? It was all so choppy and it was just wrapped up very quick and nonchalantly. My manz saw the flashback of the past in like 2 seconds 😂 it’s almost like they were friends and not lovers who were dealt a bad hand of fate and they’ve both carried that pain for literal centuries 🤔 I wanted all the drama and angst, it didn’t feel complete imo. I kind of understand cause they only had two episodes left but still. The ending left me conflicted. Still in my top 10, but CONFLICTED

it STILL doesnt help that he's so arrogant (not just him, but the other peeps on this list too... >.>) and insufferable when things don't go his way. I naively thought that after he had helped Myshkin with the Burdovsky situation, he'd have NATURALLY reedemed himself - but no. TURNS OUT he had only wanted to help princey out of self-fulfilment and, OF COURSE, to make himself look better in his eyes, which c'mon man, you could've done just by having been honest with yourself

oh and don't even get me started on the relationship he has with his siblings and family... poor varya :crying: queen deserves a more understanding brother who doesn't have a draco malfoy complex

nevertheless I don't HATE his character, he's just continuously oscillating between a jerk and a nice guy you could chat over a coffee with in my eyes.

I don't know if this is gonna be a controversial one, but hear me out.

The fact that I kin her in some aspects DOES. NOT. HELP. THE CAUSE. The fact that (almost) everyone calls her an angel at some point in the novel really GRINDS MY GEARS - she's basically a tsundere from the 1800's who, okay, was dealing with familial pressure and societal expectations, but NEVER knew how to explain her obnoxious reasoning in a reasonable way that doesn't include scoffing and rolling her eyes or shouting at her interlocutor. I do admit, her character's interesting and you're never really bored when she's around, she's realistic, but I would've liked to see her vulnerable side a bit more, not just the spoilt little sister side. THATS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION THO, TOLD FROM THE SHOES OF THE SPOILT LITTLE SISTER...

Third - Rogozhin.

It's undoubtable that Rogozhin is an A M A Z I N G character. I love the atmosphere he creates and the impending doom you feel when he appears in a scene - but I just can't forgive him for killing his girlfriend and trying to kill his bestie as well. I love his character for EVERYTHING except those caca stuff he did; I just can't ignore those

KEEP IN MIND THO, I DON'T HATE THESE THREE CHARACTERS, I love how detailed and true to reality they are, but they have like 2-3 aspects I just cant gloss over. So I both LOVE THEM and wanna roll them through breadcrumbs and make schnitzels out of them.

do i even have to explain. MANZ T R A S H . He destroyed nastasya -her dreams, her aspirations, her societal and social status - he ruined her future and her as a person in every single way. He's a creep and ~still a piece of garbage~ so, in my honest not-so-humble opinion, he can shove all that richness and all those golden rings up his rear end.

My oc’s as (Y/n)’s best friend

Featuring: Quill, Calisto, and Void

Aquilloryte Saint (Quill)

Quick character overview: 6’1 male with tanned skin and an almost-constant smirk/smile on his face. Eighteen years of age. He’s a really energetic, funny and absolutely idiotic-acting male. Most of his internal organs (and eyes) are made out of a metal (also a chemical) called aquilloryte (which is where his name came from.) Although he acts extremely reckless and stupid, his level of brains is through the roof. We’re talking more than Einstein and Tony Stark. From my Incurable Poison series. (That I haven’t written)

Ultimate hype man

No kidding, literally there for you constantly, no matter the time of day

Probably helps that he has extreme insomnia

A great friend to go to after a breakup or some traumatic thing or just for comfort.

Can’t physically touch you unless he’s wearing his gloves, but will sit there and put on a movie and get some comfortable blankets or whatever

If he catches someone talking about you behind your back (like a soon-to-be-ex-best friend) he will call them out instantly

Sir has no shame

If he catches anyone being physically abusive to you, well.

Expect him to have to hold him back lmao

Will beat the shit out of them for even touching you in a hurtful way

Drags you along with all his stupid, reckless and idiotic schemes.

If you struggle with a subject, he will teach you about it

Just don’t talk about nanotechnology or anything to do with how the brain works or he will rant about it for hours non-stop in words you can’t even begin to comprehend

Of course, unless you actually want to learn about that stuff

You’ll know you’re his best friend when he lets you wear his glasses that he constantly wears.

Why? Because he never takes them off, as his deep blue irises glow and can flicker into different colours every now and then.

He’s insecure about it

Calisto Aclonica

Quick character overview: Ginger-haired, lightly-tanned-skinned male with calculating green eyes. He’s about 5’10 and has a lithe and graceful build. Is cat boy. Has cat ears and tail, but is also very fit. Makes a lot of puns, jokes, and tends to be quite lazy. From my The Umbernether series. (That I haven’t finished writing) (The books sort of based off of undertale, but instead of having your SOUL, you have something called SPORE- Spirit Of Resistance. Also has similar SPORE abilities.)

Literally the silently Chaotic-neutral energy in your friendship.

Quite lazy tbh, but he actually makes an effort with your friendship

Not that uwu cat boy person

Trust me, if I ever publish the book, you’ll understand that pretty quickly

The chill friend that you can just sit back and watch netflix or any other show with him

Will complain about going out anywhere, but take him.

You two will have a blast, trust me

Doesn’t let anyone touch his tail- not even you- because it makes him feel uncomfortable.

Loves platonically cuddling though

Manz can purr, so if you can get your period and it’s your time of the month and you’ve got bad cramps, don’t be afraid to ask for cuddles

(Cats purring actually helps. Because of some scientific reason I can’t be bothered to explain)

If he hears someone talking shit about you, he will call it out immediately

Much like Quill, he has no shame in pointing out that that person was being an asshole

If anyone tries to hurt you physically, he will restrain them in some way.

If anyone is ganging up on you, that’s when he actually sheds some blood

From other people of course

Doesn’t care about the consequences

Doesn’t hiss

Just sort of silently assassinates them

But doesn’t usually kill them

Unless they were doing anything sexual to you

Then that’s different

He’s named after a font

So please, tease him about that

He loves friendly banter

Scattervoid (Void)

Quick character overview: Defies gravity. Literally. The winds blowing one way? His hair and clothing are blowing the exact opposite way. A highly intellectual individual that wasn’t capable of having fun. He’s got light brown hair and onyx black eyes that tend to unnerve people. “Fifteen” years of age. By that I mean fifteen centuries. He’s the embodiment of my oc’s realm- the Scattervoid. From my Scattered series (That, again, I have not written.)

When you met him it was probably in a library

He is, in fact, a nerd

All duty-duty-duty until you turned up and tabled his turns

Very kind as a best friend

But when you steal him away from his duties and give him the time to be himself, he is the most chaotic little shit you’ve ever met

Literally speaks out all of his intrusive thoughts, which would scare the shit out of everyone else but you because you’re used to it

You also know that he wouldn’t act upon them

At least, you’re pretty sure he won't.

Scratch that, you have to tug on his scarf to stop him from testing his theories.

He’s the type of dude that’s super emotionally awkward, but if you’re sad he’ll read you some story of some kind. Let’s be honest- it’s probably going to be either a Greek, Roman, Norse or Egyptian mythology story.

Brings you to the Scattervoid

Worries like hell when you start throwing up from nausea you get from being in the zero-gravity place. It’s really dizzying

His “void” literally defies all scientific logic, and Void will constantly go on about how stupid scientists are that they can’t even understand the way the body works properly

Hey! At least when you’re accustomed to the Scattervoid you learn how to levitate and move around in a space that doesn’t require you to walk.

Requires a lot of mindpower, though

Probably lets you wear one of his scarfs (that defy gravity, even if you’re the one wearing it)

If you’re getting physically abused, he will use his intrusive-thought theories on the people. Which means a lot of b-l-o-o-d and a first-degree murder charge

Somehow he always manages to escape the charge

Whenever you get hurt, he worries a lot, and that worry comes off as if he’s frustrated with you

“Why the hell are you mortals so delicate? God, you trip over and you could bloody well kill yourself by accident.”

I canon he has jumped off a massive building one time, landed on the concrete and just walked off as if it was nothing.

It literally was nothing, as in his realm, it takes a heck ton longer to exit the planet because J’alkytar (His realm) is an absolutely gigantic planet. So much so that they’ve populated it for several hundreds of millions of years and they’ve only discovered 10% of it

He’s used to jumping off obscenely high things without any consequences

I definitely think you tease him about being an old man when you were teaching him the ways of modern technology (He doesn’t have that on his planet)

I cannon him absolutely freaking out when you get sick though

It’s not something that really happens in his world- as they have extremely good immune systems- and they have horrific diseases. There’s no cure for their diseases either, as it’s the only way that people of their race can die- aside from people forgetting them.

just curious but how did you tell your boyfriend that you wrote fanfiction, and then that u wrote nsfw content for said fanfiction. i feel like there's such a stigma surrounding us fic writers so it would make it kind of hard??

it took about a year for me to actually admit that i was writing fanfiction. i started "testing" him by reading bits and pieces of my work to him and pretending that it's someone else's, because he knew that i was reading a lot of it as well, so the lie was pretty passable.

anyway, he kept saying that the stuff i'm reading [writing] is actually pretty good, so we were laying in bed one night and i just admitted it because idk... we've been together for so long and it's really not that big of a deal if you think about it, but my "i've gotta tell you something" scared the crap outta him ngl. manz thought i was going to break up with him 💀 imagine that.

he knew how much i got into naruto [he showed it to me first, anyway] and how attached i got to the characters, so he wasn't surprised at all when i told him i write about them.

the smut he was surprised about, tho.

like he knew i've always enjoyed reading kinky stuff, but to imagine me writing it?! idk if you know how i look like, but i'm blonde, blue-eyed and my face has really soft features, so i look super innocent, and the fact that i'm writing y/n getting pounded in 36 different ways by all these men kind of got him giggling like a schoolgirl when i finally gave in and let him properly read one lemon.

now please imagine a man that's 6'2 and really stoic more often than not - giggling into the phone and smirking because he's reading an omegaverse story that his gf wrote where alpha!kiba is smashing the living fuck outta y/n. my soul was leaving my body, i kid you not 💀

he's super supportive of my passion for writing. he sees that i enjoy it immensely and lets me have my peace when i wanna spend 11 hours straight by just sitting behind the keyboard and taming that frenzy, but also listens to me rant and pout when i get stuck with good, ol' writer's block.

when i finished writing the 130k+ long kiba fic, it was that book that made him realize i was serious about this. i'm usually very scatterbrained, so the fact that i kept enough focus to write a whole goddamn book made him super invested into supporting this hobby of mine.

he buys me a lil' piece of cake or a sweet for every 100 followers i get on wattpad. we joked just a couple of days ago that when i reach 1k, he's gonna buy me a whole cake and invite my friends over, even tho they'd have no idea what we'd be celebrating 😭

all in all, he's super supportive and my number one hypeman when it comes to this. just super proud of me and i love him for it.

i'm boutta make him my husband real soon if he keeps it up 😼

Omg your baby face rant reminded me of this one incident bahaha. So one of my friends looks the SAME as she did 5 years ago and we were at this cafe where ONLY kids aged 4-13 can get this cute meal lmaojshebd. So we were ordering and stuff, then this seemingly new recruit came to us for taking the orders. Manz literally pointed out the kids' meal and told my friend it's the best for kids when she said she was too confused and WE LEGIT D I E D. Like he got sooo confused when he saw us losing our shit from all the laughing BYE. And she was fuming but we made her take the kid's meal anyway lmao. Then when we were dropping tips, she literally went I am 17 turning 18 this June, BTW HELLP

i bet she was so offended oml i can't breathe 😭😭 that's SUCH a comical experience rofl i offer my condolences for her pride. rip, bc i felt that pain in my soul 💔💔

1.) Iceman. My favorite character is Iceman. But if we are talking about the second movie, my favorite is Bob. Ice because most of my favorite characters are kinda jerks but actually care about the safety of their friends and family. And because it's Ice. Come on. Bob because he is so sweet and kinda the shy one of the group. He screams Mom friend. Like, manz was introduced with water and a cup of nuts at a bar! Mom friend material right there.

2.) I HATED Cyclone with a passion. Man disrespected Maverick so many times! When Ice died, he literally took Maverick off the mission ICE WANTED HIM ON! He just a major d!ck.

8.) Okay, that's a bit hard. Call signs are usually based on your most embarrassing moment on your first day or so. Mine would most likely be "shortie" as I am 5'0 even. Or it might be "Tumble" because I can be very clumsy at times.
