🍨 Stardudes Favorite Desserts 🍨
Alex
Despite working at the ice cream stand, he doesn't particularly like ice cream, but he enthusiastically shares suggestions for flavors based on your mood or preferences.
Alex is grateful that the owner lets him experiment with flavors. His latest creation? Pancake ice cream!!! Buttermilk ice cream with maple syrup and chunks of chocolate covered bacon. Oh yeah! Who doesn’t love breakfast?
Evelyn's desserts are the best in the world. He has a very "YOU-CAN-FIGHT-ME-if-you-disagree" mentality about it. He's uber protective of his Granny.
Chocolate chip is his fave. He won't even look at someone else's cookies, but if you're friends with both Evelyn and Alex, he would invite the Farmer to join a baking session. He would purposely throw flour in your hair to be playful.
As a kid, Alex recalls sitting in the kitchen and enjoying a cookie and milk after school. Evelyn would kindly ask about his day and sweep the crumbs off his shirt when he was done.
If in a romantic relationship with him, Alex would be strangely blushy if you swept crumbs off his shirt. He views it as a very caring gesture, and associates feelings of warmth and care with it.
When married to him, Alex is over the moon whenever you bake dog treats for Dusty.
Elliott
This man knows his wines and chocolates. Every chocolate has the perfect pairing. White chocolate and Moscato. Milk chocolate and Pinot Noir. Dark chocolate and Merlot.
Really loves chocolate covered pomegranate seeds. Any kind of chocolate covered fruit really. If you dance with him at the Flower Festival, he will send you chocolate covered strawberry as a thank you.
Leah talked him into painting with chocolate once. It was a messy experience. Watch the hair! Never again.
He savors every experience. He never eats fast. Each bite of exceptional chocolate is followed by a happy little hum.
Is actively petitioning Mayor Lewis for a Stardew Chocolate Festival. If in a relationship with the farmer, he would recommend their chocolate covered fruits and nuts, and suggest chocolate infused honey.
In the fall, he craves your pomegranate crisp. Would borrow an ice cream maker from Marnie to churn homemade fresh vanilla to go with this famous dessert. Probably called Willy over to help. He would show up at the farm, puffing hair out of his face, and surprise you with the dessert.
Harvey
Likes a little mandel bread with his morning coffee. A crisp, twice-baked Jewish cookie like biscotti. He pulls the cookie out of the jar, and nibbles on it while waiting for his coffee to brew. A delightful morning ritual.
His mother taught him how to make Sufganiyot (jelly-filled donuts) served around Hanukkah. Harvey pulls out his rolling pin, apron, and baking tools every year for this tradition. Then he serves the donuts down at the VA. While there he would try to cheer up Kent and Linus. His donuts are one of the only things that make them happy, and he takes pride in bringing joy to these men who served his country.
Harvey wouldn’t keep any donuts for himself. So if there are any leftover, he will pass them out for free at the Winter Night Market. Hey, they go great with coffee.
Closes the clinic for the day to drive to Zuzu in early winter. The city is the only place he can find the traditional Hanukkah gelt (gold coin chocolates) and candied dreidels. If in a relationship with him, he invites you along for the trip. You enjoy jazz during the road trip. He packs hot cocoa in a thermos and an extra scarf for the trip. He’s embarrassed to admit that he forgot an extra cup. You’ll have to share. (now Harvey, is that so bad?) 😉
Sam
Hands down. A root beer float guy. Any kind of soda float guy. Strawberry. Cola. Orange. Grape. Makes funny ice cream moustaches with Vincent. Jodi comes in the kitchen wondering what all the giggling is about.
Would be genuinely so surprised that people make alcoholic root beer. His excitable little grin warms your heart. Doesn’t realize how addicting these are. Would slosh back multiples on the lake pier with Shane (who is very what-the-fizzlesticks about it). Wakes up the next day with a hangover.
Absolutely a breakfast pastry lover. Cinnamon rolls. Muffins. Turnovers. Bagels. Croissants. Danishes. Strudels. Maple bars are, of course, his favorite.
When he was a kid, Kent would take him out early on Saturday mornings so Jodi could sleep in. They would pick up donuts, coffee, and the newspaper. When he arrived back at the house, Sam would whistle the Reveille (the military morning bugle song) to let his mom know they arrived. Jodi hated it, but Kent was secretly so proud his son remembered the song.
Would promise his whole class that he would bring something for the bake sale. Jodi always sighed because she wasn’t “informed,” but she made the desserts anyway.
Sam is pretty abysmal in the kitchen, constantly distracted, missing the timer, running back to the fridge for ingredients he forgot, leaving the oven on after taking stuff out. But if you offered to make sweets with him, he would make his absolute best effort.
An ideal date night would be making cinnamon sticks to eat with pizza drizzled with honey from your farm. If you fell asleep in his room, he would reheat a few in the morning and bring you coffee in bed.
Sebastian
Rolls his own mochi. He gets really into it too. Spends a day picking out the best ingredients.
Makes a cooking music playlist that sounds nothing like what a normal cooking playlist would sound like. Heavy metal, some goth punk, random alternative.
Headphones on, he would cook in the middle of the night. That's when he is least likely to be disturbed. Unless of course Robin is working late on your farm. If she happens in, he gives his mom a taste.
If in a romantic relationship, Seb would invite you to join him in making mochi. And he would carry you home after you passed out at 2am, tuck you in bed, kiss you on the forehead, and leave you mochi in your freezer.
Shane
He's a quick and easy kind of guy. Cookies, candy, ice cream. Gets a good employee discount at Joja so he can stock up on his faves. Best hangover food.
Frequently patronizes Alex's stand in the summertime. The ice cream tastes better. He might even hang out for a bit and chat gridball with Alex if he has nothing better to do.
Sometimes Evelyn leaves him cookies. He likes her rocky road bites. The crunchy sweetness is delicious.
Egg custard tarts are a favorite of his. Best with fresh eggs from the Ranch. Every year Marnie makes it for Shane on his birthday.
If in a romantic relationship with him, he would learn how to hand crank ice cream just for you, with fresh cream from Marnie's ranch and a big bag of ice from Pierre's (once Joja closes, he would get a job there).
Lance
can’t wait until they serve stardrop sorbet at Alex’s ice cream stand. It only happens once a year. Sets his alarm extra early that morning. Shows up before they’re even open.
would be over the moon if you baked him a golden pumpkin pie.
If in a romantic relationship, he comes home just for your kisses - it’s dessert enough. 😘 Brings you a treat from his latest travel spot.
Magnus
working on creating a dessert elixir - it would sweeten any poor quality food for a short time.
anything with black licorice - even in coffee.
definitely likes spooky treats - bat brownies, ghost marshmallows, candy corn pretzel spiders.
bakes winter star cookies every winter. Drops sprinkles all over the kitchen.
appreciates if the Farmer brings him sweets while he’s double checking the magical barrier.
Victor
has expensive taste and knows it. You can blame Olivia.
also loves stardrop sorbet. He makes happy little sounds when he eats it.
loves coffee-flavored desserts. Cappucino mousse is his self-declared favorite, but he enjoys coffee-flavored ice cream in the summers.
waits in line a long time for his favorite truffle popcorn. It may not be a typical dessert, but it’s a delicious snack.
orders tiramisu from a specific bakery in Zuzu City. If in a romantic relationship with the Farmer, he would share.
I'll do the bachelorettes next. Hope you enjoyed!

@lament-of-0rpheus I found the images of the Stardew Valley guitar belt I made for a christmas present this year! Basically my local library has a maker's space which includes a super fancy embroidery machine that I wanted to learn how to use. This project was a labor of love and I learned a ton doing it.
Not all of them really came out well with the embroidery so below is a list of the sprites I used in order from top to bottom if you were curious. I actually mis-measured the belt and had a whole extra 6 inches of design that I didn't get to include that I'm bummed about (it had the horse and a lost book and some other fun things) But overall I'm pretty happy with it and had a ton of fun making it!

Indigenous Maple Syrup Makers Tap Into Tradition Upon cutting down a tree in Canada one spring, the first European known to have tasted maple sap, Jacques Cartier, found a delicious elixir. There “gushed out from it a juice, which was found to taste as good and as delicious, as the fine wine of Orleans or Beaune," reads a 1557 account of the event. But centuries before the first European settler arrived in North America, Indigenous communities in Eastern Canada were harvesting sap from maple trees of the region, boiling the raw bounty, and turning it into sugar water, syrup, and maple sugar. Haudenosaunee traditional knowledge includes descriptions of cutting maple trees to access “sweet water,” and many Anishinaabe communities have sugaring-off traditions when they collect sap. Many used maple products not only for their delicious flavor, but also as medicine and even as a way to help preserve foods. As of 2020, there were over 5,300 producers of maple syrup across the country, accounting for nearly 47 million tree taps nationwide. After all, Canada produces over 75% of the world’s maple syrup, most of which is harvested in Quebec. But there are only a handful of Indigenous-owned maple syrup companies across Canada, and even fewer Indigenous-owned sugar shacks. There’s a quest for historical quaintness behind every aspect of maple syrup production, from the anachronistic glass bottles to the rustic charm of the sugar shacks. But what this popular imagery doesn’t capture is the Indigenous origin of maple syrup itself. While only a small proportion of maple syrup producers in Canada are Indigenous, those who currently own their own maple farms and processing plants are proudly reclaiming their heritage. Many apply traditional methods and the teachings of elders to their work in an effort to keep that history alive. When Europeans settled in Ontario in the 17th and 18th centuries, they cleared vast swaths of forest from the land, including the sacred maples and sugar maples, known for the sweetest saps. Research shows that during this era, Indigenous peoples lost much of their ability to harvest maple syrup. Then, the forced resettlements of the Indian Act of 1876 caused the disappearance of traditional maple ceremonies and festivals. By then, settlers had learned the traditional processes and eventually industrialized maple syrup production. More recently, though, there has been an attempt at reconciliation through collaboration, and an effort to recognize maple syrup as an Indigenous creation. In the past, Sand Road Maple Farm in Moose Creek, Ontario has invited Ojibwe, Métis Cree, and Algonquin knowledge-keepers to lead smudging ceremonies and prayer at the start of their season. But Indigenous-owned companies themselves are now making headway in the industry. Giizhigat (Gee-jah-gut) is located in Richard’s Landing, Ontario. Its Indigenous owners, Deborah Aaron, a member of Six Nations of the Grand River reserve, and Isaac Day, an elder and healer from Serpent River First Nation, use traditional teachings in their syrup-making approach. They bought their equipment in 2012 and completed their first maple syrup run in 2015. Another Indigenous maple syrup producer, Kleekhoot Gold Bigleaf Syrup, is located on the West Coast’s Vancouver Island, in a region known as the Alberni Valley. Kleekhoot is run by members of the Hupacasath First Nation. The owners use Bigleaf maple trees, a tree unique to the West Coast of British Columbia, to produce their golden syrups. This tree creates syrups with caramel and vanilla notes. Often, these companies combine tradition with contemporary technique. Wabanaki Maple, located in Tobique (or Neqotkuk First Nation) is not technically a maple-syrup producer. Instead, Wabanaki flavors and barrel-ages syrups, for unique aroma profiles such as rum, oak, whisky, and bourbon. Jolene Johnson, owner of Wabanaki, is Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and from Tobique. When she started her business in 2018, she was the first Indigenous woman working in the industry in the Atlantic provinces. “I’m not aware of any other Indigenous female-led maple syrup companies in Canada at this time,” Johnson says. “But when I first embarked on my journey in 2018, I realized that there were very few Indigenous businesses in the maple syrup industry.” In Maliseet culture, maple syrup would be heated during the preparation process to ensure stability and a long shelf life, Johnson says. “This was a practice done for many years in our culture, so supply could be kept throughout the long harsh winters in our territories,” Johnson explains. “The maple syrup would have been boiled down so that it was hard like maple candy, and then it could be stored more easily and broken down to use as maple sugar.” Wabanaki still uses this technique. According to Johnson, maple syrup production within her own Maliseet culture was historically centered around the women—that each matriarch or head of the family would manage her own sugar grove, but it was still very much a community effort.“The responsibilities of the women would include things such as making hundreds of birch bark baskets to hang on the maple tree, so it could be gathered once the sap is flowing,” Johnson says. “They would also maintain the fires so the sap could be boiled down to syrup, candy or bricks.”She can’t say what roles the men would have played in the process, but assumes that they would have helped too. “Perhaps gathering and providing the firewood or carving holes into the maple trees to allow for the sap to flow,” ” Johnson says. “These are only my thoughts, since much of the history of Indigenous people and maple syrup was not necessarily documented, but rather passed on through stories from generation to generation.” For Johnson, working with maple is a community endeavor, as well as a family endeavor. “In fact, I was first introduced to maple syrup through my sister and her husband who have been collecting maple syrup as a hobby, and passed on a lot of teachings and knowledge to me,” Johnson says. Besides creating unique maple syrups, Wabanaki also celebrates Indigenous culture through its Bareroots Initiative. This gift box project seeks to help support the environment and reforestation. “It is curated with products from other amazing Indigenous businesses across Turtle Island,” Johnson says, referring to the name for North America used by many First Nations peoples. While there may not be many Indigenous-led maple syrup companies in Canada today, the ones who do this work should be celebrated, as they uphold their traditional values, advocate for the environment, and empower Indigenous youth to follow in their footsteps to reclaim their history. “As a 100-percent female, Indigenous-owned company, we care and are passionate about sharing our culture,” Johnson says. Making maple syrup, she says, is how she’s chosen “to help support and give back to our communities, and the next seven generations.” https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/maple-syrup-history

Canadian Whisky: Everything You Need to Know
For decades, Canadian whiskey has been the top-selling whiskey in the USA. It is light bodied and tends to be smooth. Among the grains used in its production, corn is the most abundant, while rye adds the most flavor.
Let's discuss some key differences between Canadian Whisky and American Whiskey before we discuss some popular Canadian whiskeys.
Canadian Whisky: What Makes It So Special?
To understand what makes a Canadian whiskey special, we must first explain what makes it different from other whiskeys.
Canadian whiskies must be aged in wood barrels of 700 liters or smaller for a minimum of three years. It must have a 40% ABV, must be made of a cereal grain, and must be made in Canada. Compare that to Scotch whisky regulations and you’ll be amazed at how much room Canadians have to stretch their whisky-making muscles.
A Canadian whiskey can also contain 9.09% of a coloring, flavoring, or other spirit, as long as this addition has aged for at least two years. Canadian distillers are able to experiment with all kinds of flavors by blending in other spirits, making Canadian whiskey unique. Adding in wine, bourbon, rum, or sherry, among other things, is what gives some Canadian whisky flavors that you can’t find elsewhere.
 Canadian Whisky vs American Whiskey
Compared to American whiskey, Canadian whiskey appears lighter and smoother. It is almost always possible to find rye whiskey in Canadian Whisky. The majority of American whiskeys are made from bourbon.
All Canadian whiskies must be aged for at least three years, just like Irish whiskies. It is a bit more complicated when it comes to American whiskey because there are so many different types. American straight whiskey, for instance, needs to be aged for at least two years. Bourbon is a little different. Bourbon that has been aged for less than four years must be accompanied by an aged statement on the bottle.
In contrast to American whiskey makers, Canadian distillers do not use mash bills in the production of their whiskey. Every step is performed separately in Canada. They mingle together after that. American whiskey is made by combining the grain before it is distilled.
 Crown Royal Whiskies
Over the past few decades, Crown Royal Whisky has gained a great deal of popularity. In 1939, Canadian whiskey was produced under unusual circumstances. Originally, the whiskey was a gift for the King and Queen of England.
Crown Royal offers a variety of options. If you're looking for something clean or flavored, they've got you covered. Starting with the Signature Series, you'll find the exceptional Deluxe, the award-winning Rye, the bold Black, and the smooth Blender's Mash. The Deluxe has a smooth palate enriched with hints of oak and sweet vanilla. The finish will also be long and lingering. This blend is rich and extraordinary.
The next series is the Master Series. It includes the elegant 18YR, the rare XR, the Cognac-finished XO, the deep Reserve, the intriguing Wine Barrel Finished, and the award-winning Winter Wheat.
And finally, if you're fond of flavors, Crown Royal has a popular flavor series, including Regal Apple, Vanilla, Peach, and Salted Caramel.
 Pendleton 1910
Next, we have Pendleton 1910. This is a very rare Pendleton 1910. In Canada, this whiskey is distilled from 100% rye grain. A minimum of 12 years is spent aging in oak barrels.
In 1910, the first Pendleton Round-up took place, hence the name. Pendleton 1910 is a complex game! The flavor is rich and round with notes of butterscotch and charred oak. Spiced rye adds a kick with a bit of heat. The smoothness comes from the sweet maple and cherry, bringing balance to the whisky overall.
There is nothing better than Pendleton 1910 for whiskey lovers!
Tap Whisky
Tap Whisky has more than just the Port Finished whisky. Its aging process brings out the flavors of wood, spice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It's rich, layered, and has a lingering finish. They also have Tap 357, a maple rye whisky. It all started with Tap 357, a perfect union of rye and maple, two Canadian staples. The whiskey is distilled four times in the oldest distillery in Western Canada.

Happy Mead Day! The first evidence of mead reportedly dates to 7,000 BC, when Chinese pottery vessels contained residues of honey, along with organic compounds of fermentation. Supposedly predating beer and wine, it’s been a go-to drink of choice for the Vikings, Mayans, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and referenced in Aristotle’s Meteorologica, Pliny the Elder’s Naturalis Historia, Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, and the Old English epic poem Beowulf. Like beer, wine and cider, mead is categorised as a distinct type of alcohol. Within this category, a mead that contains spices or herbs is called ‘metheglin’, while one featuring fruit is known as ‘melomel’. Elsewhere, ‘cyser’ is an apple-based mead, plus there’s ‘acerglyn’ (made with maple syrup); ‘braggot’ (a mead/beer blend brewed with hops or barley); and rhodomel (an old style laced with roses), to name a few! The commemorative occasion was first organised by the American Homebrewers Association, to increase awareness of the drink, and foster camaraderie among mead-makers. #NationalMeadDay #Mead #FoodConsultant #FoodService #FoodServiceSolutions #FoodSales #Food #FoodDude #WeKnowFood #NobertSales #FoodOfTheDay @NobertSales (at Germantown, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg7VZRdg6B3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This book had me raging, laughing and going awwww!
Insatiable by Rhys Everly My rating: 4 of 5 stars I liked this book a lot, it made me laugh, it made me go awwww a lot, and it made me a bit ragey at times too – all good things! The narrative has an interesting premise, as it mixes both a fake relationship and a kind of opposites attract scenario with two men who are at odds from the start. Throw in a bet you know is going to come back to bite…

National Pecan Pie Day
Your grandmother’s house in mid-fall. The air outside is crisp, eve though the sun is shining. Leaves swirl all around you in streaks of yellow, red and brown. And then a delightfully sweet, buttery scent reaches your nostrils and you hear your grandmother’s voice, “Pie’s ready! Come and get it!”
Aaah, pecan pie. A favorite not only in the United States but the world over, pecan pie is considered a staple of traditional Southern U.S. cuisine. So why not celebrate this delicious dessert on its very own day by making a pecan pie of your own? You’ve got to admit that sounds pretty delicious.
History of Pecan Pie Day
There are various ideas about the origins of pecan pie. There are those who state that the French first made it soon after settling in New Orleans in the 1700s and being introduced to the pecan by the Native Americans of the area. Other claim pecan pie was first made in the early 1800s in Alabama; however, no recipes or other culinary literature has been found that would support either of those claims.
The first actual pecan pie recipe was written in 1886. Originally, pecans were mized with custard, boiled, and then poured into a crust and baked. The makers of Karo syrup also contributed significantly to the popularization of pecan pie, as their product was often used instead of the more expensive honey or maple syrup. Pecan pie has been mentioned numerous times in American literature and television and has even become a literary symbol of the Southern States, as can be observed in the Zac Brown Band’s lyric:
Beneath the shade of a Georgia pine And that’s home you know Sweet tea, pecan pie and homemade wine Where the peaches grow.
Today, pecan pie is most often eaten on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
How to celebrate Pecan Pie Day
The answer is easy, make your own pecan pie! Even if you don’t have too much culinary experience, don’t worry! Pies are relatively easy to make and plus, this recipe calls for a frozen crust, saving you the Pecans can be expensive in some parts of the world, so you could use walnuts instead if you like, which will also make a very tasty pie. Still, if you want to really taste this traditional Southern dessert and celebrate this day to the fullest extent, pecans are the best bet.

Finished off this small batch of Pennsylvania serving boards. They're made from hard maple and assembled to show off the best grain patterns. These are smaller boards, suitable as serving boards or bar size cutting boards and have a food safe finish made from mineral oil and beeswax. This one is claimed, but I have two more. Things NHL teams should do during the lockdown pause in their seasons:
Colorado Avalanche
Dancing is healthy, good cardio and fun. Learning a complicated choreography together might promote team bonding. Here’s my suggestion that I’m sure dance captain Gabriel Landeskog and noted ABBA fan Erik Johnson will appreciate:
youtube
Just put up a zoom call and have them practice. Once they actually get to see each other again, this will make first home game really fucking pop!
Philadelphia Flyers
Since group zoom calls end in pandemonium for these maniacs, let’s separate them and teach them some shit. How about cooking? How about we get them some teachers? Who doesn’t want to see Travis Konecny charmed into submission by Claire Saffitz making cookies? Who doesn’t want to witness King Himbo Kevin Hayes and Even Greater Emperor Himbo Brad Leone interact over grilling a steak?
Tumblr media
I want multiple episodes, I want to see actual improvements and I want Claude Giroux to weep with joy when his teammates FedEx him some damn cookies.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Let’s be honest, these morons can’t do anything. So how about we teach them something completely useless yet pretentious? I think wine tasting would be a good way to bring teammates like Mitch “chugging red wine from a mug” Marner and Zach “probably has a favorite winery” Hyman together. Everybody else just gets sloshed at home while listening to a French sommelier via zoom, who is polite enough to ignore that John Tavares has green juice in his glass and not Merlot.
youtube
Yes, Tyson Barrie is Donna Meagle. Of course he is.
Dallas Stars
Art class. They each get an easel and some painting supplies to do their worst. I want Jamie Benn painting a few trees while whispering “There are no mistakes, just happy little trees”, I want Tyler Seguin attempting to draw himself in the nude and emotionally scarring their painting instructor via Skype. I want Alexander Radulov coming totally out of left-field, stunning the instructor with Jackson Pollockesque chaotic paint flicking. The possibilities are endless here!
Tumblr media
Pittsburgh Penguins
Coffee stuff. Yes, Sidney Crosby and his many men will get really fucking snooty about coffee, learning about different roasting techniques and how to pour milk onto the coffee to create “latte art”. Both Coffeeshop AUs and the Tim Horton’s commercials will get infinitely funnier after that.
youtube
also I want Kris Letang, who already looks like he could rock a man bun, to get himself a hipstery, super expensive coffee maker and then pronounce every single coffee term in a French accent.
(I only did the teams I know enough about. Feel free to add your own insane suggestions!)

Three Hearts
Tumblr media
Jared x Jensen x OFC Elle 2700 words of Valentine’s Day fluff in the Everything-verse that belongs to @there-must-be-a-lock. Thanks for letting me play in your world again, friend!  Enough  Road Trip
Valentine’s Day.
Elle was torn. On one hand, it was a totally commercialized excuse for companies to sell chocolate, overpriced cards, and giant bears. At the same time, she liked flowers and sweet treats as much as the next person.
The nice thing about her boyfriends was that neither of them needed a day on the calendar to be romantic. The three of them celebrated together on special occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries -- but had just as much fun in the everydays, when there was nothing to celebrate but each other.
Since moving in with them a little over a year ago, she had enjoyed their thoughtfulness and generosity for every special occasion. The two of them gave good gifts, and frankly, she felt almost spoiled. But her favorite presents were the ones they all enjoyed together -- vacations, spa days, gourmet meals. She hardly wanted anything for Valentine’s Day because they had left her nothing to want.
Buying gifts for them -- now, that was the hard part. She didn’t have their deep pockets. While she didn’t mind letting them pay for their lifestyle, she felt like they shouldn’t buy their own gifts. On top of that, this year, so many of the things they all enjoyed -- trips, concerts, fine dining -- were out of the question.
Elle brought it up one weekend in late January, when they were enjoying a lazy Sunday brunch after a very enjoyable morning all together in Jensen’s bed. Each of them had their own private space, but more often than not, they ended up in one bedroom, especially on weekends. Jared had made each of them omelets to their liking while Jensen made espressos and Elle chopped fruit.
Between bites of the delicious food, she asked casually, “So have you two given any thought to Valentine’s Day this year?” Both of her boyfriends looked at her wide-eyed, so she hurried on. “Not that I’m expecting you to get me anything! I mean, you’re always very generous. I just -- wondered.”
Jared looked at Jensen as if he was asking for permission, and when Jensen nodded, he pulled out his phone.
“So you know how we love watches?”
“I’ve heard about it once or twice.” Elle nodded, her tone teasing. The two of them collected watches like some people collected cars.
“There’s this new Rolex - Jay and I have been on the waitlist for a year. We should be getting them just in time to be our gift to each other. Look, isn’t this a beauty?” He turned the phone to show her while he continued to list for her the features of this particular timepiece.
It looked to Elle very much like any other watch. What caught her eye was the price at the bottom: $30,000 and up. And they were buying a pair of them. The boys continued to chatter excitedly, voices overlapping, as she sat in stunned silence.
$60,000. That was more than she made in a year. What could she possibly give that would compare to a gift like that?
“You okay, sweetheart?” Jensen’s voice cut through the buzz in her brain.
“Oh, yeah.” She forced a laugh. “You know, you lose me with all this watch nerd talk.”
“Don’t worry, that’s why I keep him around.” Jensen pointed a thumb at Jared, who leaned over and playfully nuzzled into his neck. Jensen turned, and the two of them kissed, and Elle wondered for the millionth time how she ever got so lucky.
Jared stood up first, and kissed her, carrying her plate with his to the sink. Jensen followed, and brought her a kiss along with a top off for her coffee. When they left the room, she stayed at the table, savoring her coffee with a smile on her face.
Hot, romantic, and thoughtful. How did she get so lucky to end up with both of these wonderful men?
Then the thought crowded back into her brain: what could she get them for Valentine’s Day?
*** Elle loved shopping online, normally. She enjoyed hunting around for the best deals on things. Usually, Jared was her Amazon shopping partner. But not for this. She browsed what felt like every list on the internet looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. Most things were either too cheap or too expensive -- or they already had them.
There was the additional problem that a lot of cute, romantic gifts were clearly aimed at a two-person couple -- not a lot out there for two boyfriends. She did find some cute cards on Etsy, but she was still at a loss for gifts.
Finally she gave up and flicked over to Instagram. She was scrolling through her usual content -- friends, artists, food blogs -- when an ad caught her eye: Dead Sled Leather Co. The photo showed a watch with a beautiful leather band, paired with an embossed wallet. She clicked.
Custom belts, wallets, key chains - all of the goods were beautifully crafted. She got more and more excited as she scrolled until finally she found it: the Gentleman’s Valet Tray. “Need a place to put your watch? This handsome leather valet tray…” That was all she needed to read. She could even get a custom design on the bottom! And it was in her price range.
Her heart sank when she clicked to the order form. “Orders shipping about four weeks out.” That was too late. Well, what did she have to lose? She called the number on the site.
The man who picked up the phone spoke in a slow Kentucky drawl, and she could just about picture chewing tobacco in his mouth. All of her words came out in a rush: how this was the perfect gift for her boyfriends, how she just needed a pair of them in time for Valentine’s Day, and could he help her?
Boyfriends. She definitely hadn’t meant to let that slip. She waited, breathlessly.
The line was silent for a moment and then he spoke. There would be a rush work fee, and she would have to pay for express shipping, but he could do it. Now what design did she want for her lucky fellas?
Elle decided to keep it simple -- three hearts entwined, stamped in the leather. She picked a deep red brown for Jared, and a honey tan for Jensen. The man didn’t question any of it, just promised to have them ready and shipped to her in time.
Her heart was light when she hung up. It wasn’t an expensive gift, but it was special. Thoughtful, perfect for them. And her Texas boys would appreciate the leather craftsmanship. Excited, she clicked onto one of her favorite clothing websites to pick out some lingerie.
*** It was the day before Valentine’s Day, and the gifts still hadn’t arrived. They had been completed -- the maker had sent photos -- and mailed as ordered, but there was some kind of delay with the post office.
All the other things she had ordered were already there -- some quality bourbon, cards, and of course, her lingerie. She had put so much hope into having the perfect gift, and as the afternoon wore on, she grew increasingly anxious.
The boys had gone out together to pick up orders at the grocery as well as the wine store. When they returned, they found Elle pacing the kitchen, nervously picking at a dish towel.
“Whoa,” Jared spoke first. “What’s wrong?”
She shook her head.
“C’mere.” Jensen pulled out a chair at the breakfast table for her. The boys sat down on either side of her. “Something’s going on. Why don’t you let us know what it is?”
“It’s stupid,” she protested, but they knew her too well to believe that. She looked from one to the other -- from Jensen’s candy apple green eyes to Jared’s kaleidoscope hazel gaze. Both of them were radiating so much trust, so much love. Finally she took a deep breath and let it all out.
“I’ve been so worried about what to get you two for Valentine’s Day. You have everything you could ever need, and you’re getting each other these beautiful watches, and I couldn’t afford one if I wanted to, and I just feel kinda useless and --”
Jensen held up one broad hand. “Sweetheart, we get the watches because we like them. And, okay, they’re kind of an investment piece. But we don’t expect you to get us anything like that?”
Jared chimed in. “The best things you’ve given us haven’t cost much at all. Like when you got me the sweets of the world subscription box? Or the coffee of the month for Jay? You give gifts that have a lot of thought, a lot of heart. The price tag isn’t what matters.”
“More than that,” Jensen picked up the thought seamlessly. “It isn’t even the gifts that matter. We’re both so fuckin’ lucky, every day, to just have you.” He looked at Jared, and they both nodded. “We love the things you give us, because we love you.”
“Even if you never gave us a damn thing, you’re the best gift we could ever have.” Jared’s face was so earnest, his brow furrowed and his eyes wide, Elle couldn’t help but smile.
“I feel so lucky to have you, both of you.” She looked back and forth between the two of them.
Jensen reached across the table to brush her cheek with outstretched fingers, and she leaned into his touch. Jared, always the more physically demonstrative one, sprang up and swooped her into a hug. He squeezed her tight, rocking her back and forth until they were both laughing. Jensen stood up and walked over with a fond smile on his face. Jared drew him in with one long arm so they were all together in one loving embrace.
Elle lifted her face to first one, then the other, for a kiss. This was where she belonged, with these two men who made her feel wanted and cherished and loved. Gifts and holidays faded from her mind in their arms. With them she felt safe, secure, forgetting about everything but being with them.
*** “Shh, don’t wake her up.”
Jared’s decidedly un-quiet whisper woke Elle the next morning.
“What are we supposed to do with breakfast in bed if we don’t wake her up?” She heard Jensen respond.
She sat up and opened her eyes just in time to see both men squeeze through her bedroom door. She should have been used to it by now, the way they insisted on sharing the same space, the way they moved in sync. It still made her smile.
Jensen was carrying coffee and a maple bacon donut. Jared was balancing a tray with eggs and bacon, mmm, so much bacon. She ran a hand through her hair delightedly, ruffling the short pink strands.
“Breakfast in bed? How does a girl get so lucky. Thank you!” She looked from one to the other eagerly. “I only see food for one. Aren’t you joining me?”
It took no convincing for them to go grab their own food and coffee.
The three of them were still on the bed, laughing and talking and trading breakfast-flavored kisses when the doorbell rang. At the same time, Elle’s phone chimed with a notification. She shoved her cup at Jensen and leaped out of bed, pausing only to grab a robe, before she hurried to the front door.
It was the mailman, delivering her gifts for the boys. She was so happy that she did a little dance in her pajamas, right there in the entryway. That’s where the boys found her, hugging a priority mail box.
She was so excited, it was all they could do to convince her to wait until after dinner, but they promised her it would be worth it.
“But it’s so long until dinner! What will I do between now and then?” she teased.
“Oh, I have some ideas to fill the time.” Jared looked at her, the wolfish look in his eyes at odds with his dimples, and she giggled.
Jensen snapped his fingers before starting up the stairs. “Bring her, man.”
Next thing Elle knew, she was scooped up in strong arms and being carried upstairs towards the bedrooms.
***
Jared and Jensen did know how to make time pass in a very enjoyable way, Elle thought, hours later, as she dressed on shaky legs. They had all showered together, but the boys were ready more quickly.
Jensen had picked out a slinky knit dress for her -- comfortable and sexy -- as well as a pair of heels. She took her cue from the outfit, adding jewelry and taking time for some sparkly eye makeup.
She made her way downstairs, carrying her wrapped gifts, and saw light in the formal dining room. She walked in slowly to find the room awash in candlelight.
The table was set with their finest dishes and laden with food. A vase of deep red roses sat in the center. Behind it, boxes and bags of her favorite chocolates -- hazelnut and caramel -- were stacked in a glittery pile.
The boys both stood up, one on either side of the table. She took both their hands and let them lead her to her seat between them.
The food was amazing, course after course delivered from their favorite restaurant: french onion soup and salads, crab cakes and shrimp cocktail, followed by perfectly cooked steaks with loaded potatoes and veggies sides. Neither of them let her lift a finger to so much as pour a drink.
They lingered over dinner, talking and laughing, sharing food and kisses. When they were finally done, the boys cleared away the plates. When they returned, Jared was carrying champagne and three flutes, while Jensen had a cheesecake topped with strawberries and chocolate.
Elle’s eyes widened. “That looks amazing, but I’m too full to eat another bite. Can we exchange gifts first?”
Jared and Jensen went first, handing one another identical boxes. They all knew what was inside, but that didn’t stop them from opening the watches with delight. Jensen got his on first, and then rounded the table to kiss Jared just as soon as he finished with the clasp.
Elle looked on, beaming. It was something they shared, and they deserved it. Now that they had talked it out, she didn’t feel inferior for not buying luxury gifts. Plus, she knew her presents would be a perfect compliment. She grinned as she handed them the parcels she had carefully wrapped. They tore into the paper eagerly.
Jensen looked up first, a question in his eyes.
“It’s a valet tray. It sits on your dresser so you have a place to put your watch.”
He threw back his head and laughed, that full laugh she loved so much. “Of course! It’s perfect, love, thank you.”
Jared was still tracing the three hearts on the bottom when he looked up and grinned. “Yes, thank you.” Then he turned his gaze towards Jensen. “Three hearts, Jay, did you see?”
Jensen nodded before he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small silky drawstring bag. He shook it into his palm and then held it out.
Elle drew in a sharp breath as she reached for it. She saw that it was a puzzle ring.
“Three bands in one, just like us,” Jensen said softly.
“And you can fidget with it. We know how you love your fidget rings,” Jared added. “But look.” He took the ring back and turned it so she could see inside the band. Stamped inside -- three interlinked hearts.
Elle looked from one to the other. Jensen’s hand closed over Jared’s as they slipped the ring onto her index finger. It fit like it belonged there. She looked from one handsome face to the other, and her eyes welled up as she whispered, “How did I get so lucky?”
They kissed her one at a time, and then together, until she was breathless and laughing.
“How did we ever get so lucky?” Jensen echoed.
“You’re the best gift we’ve ever had, and all we could ever want,” Jared said.
“All? Even with that cheesecake sitting there?” she teased.
“Well, now that you mention it--”
Long after they had eaten their fill of cheesecake, they were still trading sticky sweet kisses, laughing and lingering around the table, three hearts in love.

AN: Dead Sled Leather is a real company founded by a local artist who does amazing work. I don’t know if he chews tobacco and I don’t know how he feels about polyamory, but he makes beautiful leather goods.  Thanks to @mskathywriteswords for working with my feverish brain to get this into some kind of readable shape, as well as pointing out some of the really cute poly gifts there are on Etsy! You’re the best.  Thanks again @there-must-be-a-lock for letting me have fun with these three, and taking a last-minute submission to your Three(k)some Challenge!
