in the name of springtime, here are a few spring hcs !

- james is so sniffly and sneezy this time of year. eyes red and puffy and awfully ill from pollen allergies. the sniffliest guy around, taking off his glasses every two minutes to rub his itchy eyes

- james and regulus love going on elaborate picnic dates <3 they hold hands and walk in the park and set up on a blanket under a shaded tree and they point at the clouds, talking about what shapes they see.

- the friends actually all go out for picnics together!! lily and pandora are sitting together making flower crowns, remus is peacefully reading, regulus and james are playfully arguing and being adorable together, also disgustingly in love and feeding each other crackers and grapes. sirius is playing an aggressive game of some sort with marlene and the rest of the hang is hanging out. they love their picnics

- lily wears the prettiest sundresses and matching outfits. she wears themed dangly earrings. and (any time of the year) she and pandora match their outfits to each other!

- starting near valentine's day and running through spring blooming, james and lily and mary help run a flower and bouquet shop. james makes and brings home elaborate bouquets for regulus every friday.

- james knows regulus loves walking through flowerfields so he powers through his allergies to take regulus on walks through them, admiring regulus more than the pretty flowers

- regulus and pandora are so gentle with bees. they smile every time a bee flies by and they make sure their friends are not harming the bees

- regulus is a walking textbook(all year round), but he's just sharing all his bug and plant and flower facts whenever it comes up(and even if it doesn't come up in conversation, he will end up talking about it)

- they go fruit picking and barty and sirius end up in a fruit fight (and sirius is okay with losing because remus helps pick out the fruit goops from his hair and lovingly washes it)

List of my Regulus HCs because I am sick and bored:

Regulus black LOVES animals. He pretends not to, he's taking magical creatures for 'extra credit' but its secretly his favorite class ever

He also is the only person to properly befriend Filches cat, mrs norris.

Mrs Norris is now like,,, 35 years old because regulus found out a way to lengthen her lifespan 20-30 years or so (much to several generations of wizards dismay)

Regulus loves padfoot, he has no idea its sirius spying on him for awhile and is frankly distraught when he finds out

Regulus and Lily run a study club together which James is at every session without fail (oddly enough theyve never seen him pull out a textbook)

He absolutely flirts with Evan an inappropriate amount to make Barty jealous (violence ensues in the dorm, on a daily basis)

Regulus loves collecting flowers and pressing them into his notebooks!! It makes the pages smell nice and he likes writing sad boy poetry to accompany them

He exclusively insults James ( mentally challenged, masochist, human dungbeetle, football personified, idiot, etc etc) but once in awhile throws in 'love' to watch him absolutely lose all semblence of grace

James was sooo jealous of Pandora because her and Reg were always going on 'dates' to hogsmeade (they were 1000% gossiping)

Regulus and Dorcas sit in the corner of the library sometimes to people watch and shit talk - nobody bothers them because everyone is intimidated at their presence

Rumor has it a 4th year tried to get Regulus and Dorcas to leave but came back sweating white as a sheet (they probably mildly traumatized this poor child)

Regulus and Remus are like reluctant besties!! They give each other book recommendations, can communicate so sarcastically nobody knows what they're on about, and get really fucking high together once in awhile.

Remus was Regulus' gay awakening (though he will never admit it) (Remus would never let it go) (ever)

Regulus doesn't/can't differentiate tone so nobody knows if hes joking or not

Regulus 'I will bury you alive deep enough where when i put my ear to the ground only then your muffled screams could be heard' Black

Sirius 'He doesn't mean that, regulus leave this poor child alone' Black

Yes Sirius is the exception he can always tell

Regulus is secretly thrilled that even after their rocky relationship Sirius still understands him like no one else

regulus black headcanons

here's some of my headcanons for regulus (which i might use in future fics)

regulus had always been jealous of sirius's long hair and wants to grow his out as well, but walburga never allowed him to

when he grew older, he dared to let it grow up to his chin (later, a little above his shoulder)

his favourite cousin has always been narcissa, both bonding over being the youngest siblings, and shared interests.

when his hair was long enough, he would braid them (narcissa taught him how to). it made his already curly hair even curlier

barty would tease him for it, but it also made him more popular (he doesn't understand why)

he'd always braid his hair during quidditch matches so it won't get in the way when he's flying

he loves pavlovas. kreacher makes him one all the time (usually in secret bc walburga wouldn't tolerate it) and the hogwarts elves picked up on it, so he always gets an extra pavlova during dinner.

he likes to wear rings, and when the black family signet ring was given to him, he wore it in his thumb (because it was a little too big for him but couldn't be bothered to resize it)

he's actually a fake it till you make it kind of person

he pretends he's good at the piano (one that walburga forced him to learn at a young age) but whenever he's told to play amongst an audience, he just uses a spell to make it look he's playing correctly

he also pretends he's good in french (he never bothered to advance his studies) so he mostly relies on translation spells to help him

he secretly likes david bowie because he heard sirius playing it before (his favourite songs are oh! you pretty things and sorrow)

he's a lot like sirius than he (and everyone) thinks, he's just good at masking it

and he's good at making jokes (although he doesn't do it often)

he's a better singer than sirius, but he almost never sings (only does it when no one's around) so nobody knows

except for remus, who caught him singing to himself during their prefect rounds, and he made remus swear to never tell a soul

canon compliant hcs:

as he is narcissa's favourite cousin, she broke down when she found out about his death.

he was only a boy, and oh so young. after, she swore that she'd make sure that her own son, draco, doesn't turn out like regulus, which made her overprotective but caring, making sure that draco grew up loved.

she saw a lot of regulus in draco, so when draco joined the death eaters she made sure that he didn't die like regulus did (hence making snape take the unbreakable vow with her)

she also raised draco with stories of her and her cousin regulus when they were children

My Sirius and Lily Headcanons

In a modern AU both of them would be swifties (Sirius' ringtone would be Bejeweled and Lily's would be The Man).

Both of them love ABBA and for Sirius' 17th birthday Lily bought him a record of the album Arrival, purely to play Dancing Queen on repeat.

They have massive prank wars, just between the two of them.

They bonded over having familial issues (they became friends after Sirius found Lily crying over a letter from Petunia, and they talked for hours about their families). As a result, they are practically each other's therapists.

Lily taught Sirius how to braid his hair.

Lily knew about Sirius' crush on Remus before any one else, including James.

Everyone thinks that they hate each other, because they call each other mean names whenever they aren't alone.

hey hey hey have some handwriting headcanons as a treat:

other related hcs:

sirius has that fancy pureblood cursive, which he absolutely hates and tries to make messy and artful to very little success. however, lily definitely recruited him to make her wedding invitations (after making fun of him for his posh boy writing ofc).

remus has the most ~aesthetic~ messy manuscript. when he writes fast, it just becomes more and more slanted until it’s barely legible. he and lily bond over the inconvenience of using quills for everything, because who’s idea was that exactly?? (the slant is the wrong way round on my sample but i also hc that he’s a lefty and gets ink on literally everything)

despite the fact that I didn’t include it here, regulus always signs his full first, middle, and last name on everything. sirius makes fun of him for it, upon which  regulus helpfully points out that he goes by “padfoot” and asks what makes him think that’s less embarrassing than regulus arcturus black. he shuts up very quickly after that.

lily has two different sets of handwriting: the one she uses for papers, which is even and very neat, and then the one she uses for everything else, which is a fucking mess. when she was in her first few years at hogwarts, she dotted her eyes with circles, but stopped because she realized how much time that took (it’s me i’m lily)

“james would have pureblood handwriting too—” i’m gonna stop you right there do you honestly think effie and monty care that much about james’ handwriting? they might have tried at one point, but their attempts were futile. that boy has chicken scratch and i will die on this hill

pandora’s is the loopiest writing you ever did dang see. so swoopy. she has pureblood writing as well, but her own version bc she’s pandora. she absolutely doodles on everything, and turns the flourishes in her name into little vines and flowers <3 

mary dots her eyes with hearts. ironically? no on knows, but no one teases her about it because they know better.
