"France became the first country in the world to make abortion a constitutional right Monday [March 4, 2024], with French lawmakers adopting the bill in a 780-72 vote in a move inspired by the U.S. reversal of Roe vs. Wade.
The law gives women a "guaranteed freedom" to choose for themselves if an abortion is the right choice to make.
The amendment won the support of the three-fifths of the 925 National Assembly and Senate members required to pass in an extraordinary afternoon session at the Palace of Versailles just outside Paris in a move that was overwhelmingly supported by the public.
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said to those assembled in Congress Hall that "we owe a moral debt" to the women who had to suffer through illegal abortions in the past.
After the vote to approve the constitutional change, Paris' Eiffel Tower was lit with the words in French "my body my choice" in the country where abortion was first legalized in 1975, two years after the United States' first ruling on Roe vs. Wade...
While limiting abortion ranked very low on France's political agenda, lawmakers were prompted to take action to protect abortion rights in 2022 following the U.S. Supreme Court's overturning of the 1973 Roe ruling that legalized abortion. Subsequently, several American states have passed laws to restrict or outlaw the procedure.
"I say to all women within our borders and beyond, that today, the era of a world of hope begins," said Attal, who at 34 became the country's youngest prime minister.
This was the first time since 2008 that France took steps to change its constitution. There will be a ceremony to finalize the amendment on Friday [March 8, 2024], which is also International Women's Day."

it's international women's day, so shoutout to asexual women! you're living in a world that's against you, and every day that you keep going is an act of defiance. you're strong, you're brave, and you're beautiful. your asexuality is something to celebrate, and so is your womanhood. and yes this includes trans women - especially trans women. you're incredible and i'm proud of you! keep being you! ❤

PLEASE HELP REPORTING THIS DISGUSTING MEN!
Hi guys, so, the past March 8th, we women had a protest march in my country, México. Because we are one of the first countries with a high rate of feminicides in the world.
A video of a man got very viral because he decided to pass through the march on his motorcycle. Although everyone in the march told him to turn around and find an alternative street he ignored them and decided to past through anyway. Women reacted aggressively in a way since he was not listening and at the end of the day this is a very important and serious march for us woman since we’re being killed just for being a woman in this country. They started a fight and he started hitting very hard women. The police arrested him but they set him free hours later without any consequences even when he hurted a lot of women. His motorcycle was destroyed by women in the march since he started hitting women.
He lost his job after this. He previously had reports from his women co workers for being a stalker. Now he’s raising money in a gofund me to “buy a new motorcycle” He’s asking for a lot of money that he’s gonna use to “persue his dream company” and incredible as it sounds men are donating to him. This is so frustrating since he's profiting thanks to being violent with women. and since men in this country are very misogynist and hate women are supporting a violent men instead of giving the money to right causes.
The fact that’s he’s making money for this is horrible disgusting. Women and non misoginyst men in my country are reporting his gofoundme so he can’t get the money since he’s a threat for women in my country, he’s a violent men that hits woman and stalk them and got away with it.
SO PLEASE, I'M ASKING ALL WOMEN AND MEN TO REPORT HIS GOFUNDME SO HE CAN’T GET AWAY WITH THIS. GOFUNDME SHOULDN’T GIVE THE PLATFORM TO THIS DISGUSTING MEN AND WE NEED TO STOP THIS. SO PLEASE PLEASE REPORT AND SHARE SO MORE PEOPLE CAN REPORT.
HE DONT DESERVE THIS MONEY, HE’S A VIOLENT MEN THAT HURTS WOMEN
Also this is a reminder that here in Mexico women are being killed just for being women, they hate us, no women is safe in this country and no one gives a shit, we’re so afraid of men and we have no justice, the government doesn’t protect us. We need the world to know what’s happening in Mexico and look for us, we don’t celebrate women’s day, there’s nothing to celebrate for us. We’re being killed.

Happy birthday to the bolshiveks, menshiveks, SR's, social democrats and liberals being fucking cowards and calling off revolution, only to be shamed into action by the women of St. Petersburg who came out in force in the streets on March 8th, International Women's day.
They went from factory to factory, throwing rocks and heckling the passivity of the union men that had rolled over in the face of the Tsar, and the next day they too came out into the streets in a show of solidarity with their sisters and siblings.
International Women's day marks the start of the 1917 revolution. Within days, the liberal Duke Lavrov called off the soldiers, and a short time later the Tsar himself abdicated the Russian throne.
the bolshiveks (especially under Stalin) would slowly begin to push the importance of this day under the rug, as they betrayed the decades of work that Russian feminists had been doing both within and outside of their ranks. Upon it's founding (under great pressure from radical feminists), the USSR was the first country in Europe to legalize abortion, only to revoke that right within a matter of years under the command of Stalin.
People have a tendency to forget the Febuary revolution, saying that it matters little since the bolshiveks end up winning in the end - but it behooves us, regardless of our political tendencies to remember the bravery of the women of St. Petersburg, slowly left out of our historical accounts in favor of those that ironically never could have won without them.
So, to working women everywhere: remember the power in your hands. You have the power to topple empires.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
If it happened once, it can happen again.
Happy International Women's day.
