GREEN & GOLD DAY
GREEN & GOLD DAY
A bit late in sharing this, but always great to get with friends & fans in Green Bay, especially when the Packers and Art are involved. We had a great Green & Gold Day last fall at The Premier with the great Chester Marcol signing, and a fantastic display of Jeff Kahlow’s foam creations (aka, Frozen Tundra Man, see following post). Also special thanks to @scraycheese @Wenzelfarms and…

The Best Packers From The 1970s
In the wonderful time of the 1970s people were listening to Led Zeppelin and had the privilege of watching some of the most celebrated NFL players live in stadiums. The league is arguably better now, with many more people watching it every weekend and some even exploring NFL betting lines as a way to find even more thrilling enjoyment from the sport.
Today, let’s take a walk down memory lane and examine some of the most famous players who wore the coveted Packers jersey. Here are some of the best players from the 1970s.
Bart Starr
Bryan Bartlett Starr had a wildly successful career as an NFL quarterback during his time on Green Bay Packers team which began in 1956 and lasted all the way to 1971. In the 17th round of the 1956 NFL Draft, Starr was selected by the Packers and he continued to play with them for an incredible 16 seasons. Starr is still celebrated today for his time playing with the Packers and for the way he helped his fellow teammates take home two Super Bowl victories and five NFL Championships while he was with them.
His incredible ability to perform under pressure, natural leadership skills and general accuracy all contributed to his success and fame at the time. For his dedication to his team and ongoing efforts, Starr was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977, solidifying his status as one of the most talented quarterbacks in NFL history. His lasting legacy as a talented player, impact on the Packers team and his contributions to the game as a whole will always be remembered.
John Brockington
The legendary John Stanley Brockington was born and raised in Brooklyn and is still highly regarded today for his incredibly successful career as a lightning fast running back for both the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs during the 1970s. After being selected by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft, his powerful ability to run and spectacular ability to break tackles caused him to quickly make an impact for his team and the game.
Brockington is remembered for running over 1,000 yards to become the first player in NFL history to accomplish this incredible display, all in his first season with the Packers. His skill as a running back earned him Pro Bowl selections from 1971 to 1973 and he was highly regarded as a consistent performer throughout the duration of his career.
After being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1977, injuries greatly impacted his time playing and he retired from the game soon after the 1978 season. In 1984, John was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame and he ended his spectacular NFL career with 32 touchdowns and over 5,000 rushing yards. Even though he has a relatively short NFL career compared to other legendary players, John Brockington managed to have a lasting impact on the game as a whole.
Chester Marcol
This kicking wizard on the green field is known by fans and enthusiasts of the sport for his exciting career and overall impact as a professional American football player. Czesław Bolesław “Chester” Marcol was born in Poland but quickly developed a deep enthusiasm for football after moving to the United States at the young age of 16. He quickly excelled as an exceptional kicker while playing college football at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
After being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the NFL Draft in 1972, Marcol quickly became known across the country for his impressive leg strength and impeccable accuracy. His consistent ability to make long field goals and score extra points for his team worked wonders for his fame and recognition. After his time with the NFL, he battled with substance abuse and faced legal issues but managed to recover from past and now assists others who struggle with similar issues in his retirement.

Hello again, tumblr!
It's 2023... and the last time I wrote in this was around New Years Eve for 2020. What's happened since then?
2020 - Hudson and I were living in NJ with my parents and older brother. I celebrated my 29th birthday at the bowling alley in Wallington with friends and cousins. I visit Gabby and Allyssa in DC right before hit the global pandemonium. My brother and I both worked in logistics operations at the time and were working in-person while many took to working from home. I remember being pretty envious of people who were able to be remote, and some who got to travel out of it. But it was such a twisted time, as so many were really holding it together in hospitals. Vaccinations were a thing, though a controversial topic apparently. I know people who lost people. My parents lost friends. Throughout that year I worked mostly. Later in the fall, began to spend time with just my cousins when dining opened back up-- outdoors and socially distanced of course. In the end tail of the summer I started doing online workouts with Chloe Ting, a youtuber, and ended up losing a deal of weight. My cousin Justine had gotten engaged-- the first of the younger cousins to get married (to follow in 2021). Work was rough, a tough crowd. I learned I wasn't good at managing a team. I left logistics ops (HR) to work in the NY office in the fall. Holidays were different that year. Everything was.
2021 - Things really started opening up. I celebrated my 30th birthday with Mitsuwa lunch and a workout at OT, and earlier my girlie cousins and I went to Domo Domo. In March, Shalane, Adrian and Simba moved to Vermont. I met my trainer, Anthony at 24H Fitness in April. Justine celebrated her bachelorette party in NYC (The Roxy, custom perfumes, Boucherie). Their wedding took place in Long Island. Kelly, Hudson and I visit Vermont later that summer for Adrian's proposal and officiating their civil ceremony. Hudson and I moved to an apartment in Brooklyn near East Williamsburg with Jelly (371 glory days). I dated a bunch (hello hinge and bumble). Mia visited in October! Jelly showed me the Brooklyn Museum, we went to NYBG, Hometown Hot Pot, Caffe Palermo (Cannoli King!), Anthony and Sons, Graham Ave... Ok I'm getting sad reminiscing on the wonderful memories. Tarot cards for fun, angel numbers, Case Kenny... I visit Austin a couple of times and Jelly joined me for one of them.
Oh and on NYE we celebrated in our pajamas and in our apartment, and woke up with Covid the next day. :)
2022 - I cried on the subway earlier in this year... lol. I celebrated my birthday by doing a boudoir shoot based in Greenpoint right off of McCarren. I met Francisco on hinge. I spent a lot of time between Long Island where he lived, Brooklyn, and NJ. I visit Seattle for the first time 2x since moving back/the pandemic. I started a new position as an HR Specialist focused on data. I was Shalane's best woman in her wedding and planned her bachelorette party in Cape Cod and bridal shower. Hudson was the dog of honor, too (wipes sweat from face). With the help of my family, I purchased a condo in North NJ and moved again, hopefully for a while. Later that year, Marcole and Jourdave became engaged. Cisco and I went on a few trips including one to visit his family in FL.

Suvevaheaeg! 2/2 (8
Tõlkisin teksti eesti keelde, kellel on huvi, lugege.

Tumblr media
Ühel nädalavahetusel käisin perega Fukuyamas. Enne isapoolsete vanavanemate külastamist, käisime Tomo-nimelises külas. Tomo küla on tuntud Gibli multika “Ponyo” tõttu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Koolihoov on umbes 3,2 ruutkilomeetrit suur.

Big Guy & The Cheesehead
Big Guy & The Cheesehead
Big Guy Hats superfan Jeff Kahlow is one fine artist of foam & glue, and a great friend. He was kind enough to bring many of his works to our The Premier event with Chester Marcol to show to the public. This wasn’t the first time we did this, the previous being at Thelma Art Center in Fond du Lac a couple of years back, but as always, it was a blast to get the band back together (sort of). There…

Just some fanfiction for the wonderful @task-of-the-burdened-one COG to relieve some stress.
Valentina breathes.
In.  Out.  It has been so long since she’s had to do that.  Do this.  Stand in a shadowy corner and remind herself that she needs to control her temper.  Control.  She can do that.   When she moves again, the cold of the night hurrying her back towards the castle, she doesn’t look back at her childhood home.
Her room is blissfully warm.  The fireplace crackles.  A basket for the simple dress she left in, the trail now dirtied by the ground.  Two extra blankets.  She’s almost grateful that the servants talk.  She’d have come back to a much more unwelcoming room otherwise.
Another breath.  Relief.  Yes.  That’s good, relief is better than anger.  She laughs, the sound is bitter and echoes strangely in her place of warmth and safety.  Valentina doesn’t allow herself to think.  Not now.  Not yet.  Not with her fury wrapped around her throat, strangling her thoughts and calm.  Instead she sleeps.  The dress she’ll never wear again discarded for something hers.
Not theirs.  Not theirs.
She clenches her eyes shut.  Willing the darkness of sleep.  The peace, she will deal with it in the morning.
The headache is strangely welcome.  If nothing else, than to distract her from her thoughts as she began her morning ritual.  Her robes placed to offer a sort of skewed look.  Golden curls loosely braided, then pinned up.  Just a few short wisps left on the nape of her neck.  All of the kohl from the night before scrubbed off of her face.  She collected the notes for the meeting that she didn’t have to go to, and left.
A few looks, Vikander and Marcol, but no questions as she calmly debated.  Calm.  Yes.  That’s what is needed.  Even with Marcol’s gray eyes looking right at her with a clear challenge.  One she’d normally accept.  She offered him a bland smile and stated her points in a monotone voice.  The meeting ended soon after that, she still had much she could do.  Paperwork mostly.  Hopefully.
“Valentina.” She stopped, let him catch up, another bland smile, “Marcol.”
A frown, or a deeper frown.  He always looks grumpy.  His brows are low as he meets her eyes.  She lets her bland smile turn sharper, You won’t find anything. He looks forward, and walks.  He knows she’ll keep up with him.
“Was there something you wanted from me Marcol?  I would like to use this day to get ahead if I can.”
“You were supposed to be gone for two days.”
“And now I’m back a day earlier,” a pause, then to give him some normalcy she allows her tone to become playful, “Why? Did you miss me?”
“No.  Why are you back?”
“I hardly think that’s any of your business.  But if you must know, my parents and I had a small tiff.”
“A tiff.”
“Yes.  We have horrible tempers in my household, I thought it best to leave early, before someone said something they might regret.”
“Hm.  I don’t believe you,” a lie.  She sees that.  But also another challenge for a challenges sake.  She considers.  The anger is gone.  Yes.  But not the tension.  There’s a chance that’d she go too far.  Be too harsh.  Her father’s temper.  Her mother’s wit.  The truth then, without her mask of humor, blunt and honest:
“I don’t think a debate would be wise right now,” just a few more steps until she reaches her office.
“Because of your parents?”
“Because me and my family’s debates are far more... aggressive than our own.”
His brow raises, “You don’t think I could handle you right now.”
“I don’t think I’d like to take that chance until I feel myself.” Until the bitter aftertaste of their words and her own are gone.
“I’m not a maiden in need of protection Commander.”
She sighs, “What a shame too, the castle could use more maidens.” She offers him a considering look before meeting his eyes, “But I suppose you aren’t so bad.  For a brute.”  Then she enters her office.  Chin raised and mouth quirked, and closes the door.
The first thing she notices is the heavy stack of papers secured together with ribbon.  A note in her father’s handwriting:
‘It’ll go faster if you sign.’
Another challenge directed to her.  Horrible tempers, prideful natures.  Yes.  Like her father.  But not.
Valentina breathes.
In.  Out.
She wants this.  Wants the freedom.  To say otherwise would be lying.  To herself and to her family.  Her words were cruel.  But they were true:
I’d rather live and die alone and poor than spend another day as your daughter.
She signed the papers that would separate her from her family name and titles.
No longer a Noble.
