what do you mean art became a commodity because of genocide? (genuine q)
tw for discussion of the shoah/holocaust
.
while ofc people bought and sold art, commissioned art, and there were art houses like christie's, art didn't really become an investment commodity until the 1960's, after world war ii and the holocaust/shoah.
during the shoah, nazi's stole a tonne of art from museums + nations but also individuals--mostly from jews many of whom were the subjects of paintings, art collectors, friends w artists, art dealers, etc. some of these works were burned, some went into nazi + collaborators collections such as goring's , some of them were lost, some were kept in caves and were ultimately damaged beyond repair, some of them eventually entered into museums like the belvedere (that's a reference to the story of the bloch-bauers), and a large amount (1.5 k) were marked destroyed and then kept by this war profiteer and art "dealer" hildebrand gurlitt.
after the holocaust, a lot of art was missing, destroyed, or missing provenance (which verifies that that piece is real + authentic and is what gives art its value on the market--without provenance, art loses values in huge amounts). some of the art stolen from jews ended up in the hands of collectors and art houses like sotheby's. then in the 1950's the impressionist and modern art dept. in sotheby's opens (which is the type of art chiefly being stolen from jews). then in 1958 there is the huge record-breaking sale of the goldschmidt collection--a collection auctioned off by the nazis in the 40's and somehow ends up in england at sotheby's...
here's a quote abt this famous 1958 event:
It has often been said that the modern art market was born at 9:30 pm on 15 October 1958, a time and date which corresponds to a sale that ended with a total of almost $20.2 million in today’s money, an impressive record at that time. On that evening, the traditional way of auctioning artworks was transformed into a glamorous and ‘modern’ event. Peter Wilson, Sotheby’s newly appointed chairman, literally stage-managed the sale of seven paintings from the Jakob Goldschmidt collection. It was not only the first evening sale, but also the first “Gala sale”, i.e. by invitation only, with ball gowns for the ladies and dinner jackets for the men. Moreover, the television cameras, also newly invited, focused on socialites and movie stars.
x
so basically this event launched the modern art market. following that in the 60's, art becomes an investment and something that celebrities/people of acclaim definitely want to get their hands on. art shoots up in prices. much of the art on the 50's-60's market that's costing millions of dollars is art stolen by the nazis.
art only continued to grow in value in the 60's and on. christie's and sotheby's competed to break records of how big the sales could be. i found this cover on sotheby's when refreshing my memory on these events:
Tumblr media
[id: image of andy warhol on the cover of newsweek next to one of his pop-art portraits of marilyn monroe. the contents advertised next to warhol are typed out in white font: Art for Money's Sake; On the Block: the Warhol Collection; The Booming Art Market. end ID]
x
i learned about this in uni so a lot of this is from my memory and a brief review of notes/articles linked above. sorry this is so long lol.
if you want to learn more i'd look at herman goring, the degenerate art exhibition, hildebrand gurlitt + his son cornelius, and the book the lady in gold by anne-marie o'connor just to get started.
i also wasn't referring specifically to this but generally a lot of art pieces, artifacts, ritual objects, etc. in trade, in collection or at museums, are there bc of colonialism + genocide.
anyway feel free to ask more questions!!

Translate everything thank you 👏👏
Sorry I was a little late, didn't have time yesterday, but here you go
Who is your best friend on the national team? I wouldn’t say I only have one best friend, I would say the whole team has a really good connection, so I can’t just choose one
How many hours a day do you train? In a normal week I train 1.5 hours a day and then some time in the fitness room
If you were a man, would you then have been better than Ronaldo? It’s hard to say as he is one of the best of all time
Who is the defender you fear the most? I don’t know, I don’t have one I fear the most
Who is the funniest teammate on the national team and in Chelsea? On the national team Rikke-Marie is the biggest clown (yes she did say that) and in Chelsea, I think Niamh Charles
What have you been, it you didn’t play football? That’s a good question, idk. It has always been my dream to be a professional football player
Why did you choose Chelsea? I did that, to get new challenges, get in a new league and get closer to my girlfriend
How does Denmark come on the level we say from Germany yesterday? There are a lot of things to do, both individual, on the teams, and in Danish football generally so we get world-class athletes
Do we agree that we still (K)vinder em (Laugh) We (K)vinder em, we will at least do everything we can

Unbearably Mortal (Part 1)
(Alcina Dimitrescu x gender neutral reader)
Summary: In which you arrive in Romania, and are not exactly given a warm welcome.
Words: ~1.5 K
A/N: Hi, y’all! This will be a multi-part series following you, the reader, through your weird and possibly scary trip to Romania. There will be plenty of fluff, a dash of angst, and some lovely miscommunication. Oh, and lots of blood. And murder. But you were already expecting that, weren’t you? :P
Cold.
Everything was cold.
This was not what you had expected when you’d gone to visit your late grandmother’s home.
None of your family members knew her really, not like she had very many to begin with anyway. And sure, she was your mother’s mother, but when your mom was eighteen, she took almost every cent she had and bought a one-way plane ticket out of her little Romanian hometown.
She hadn’t spoken to her mother since, just sending the occasional letter every few months. And while her mother responded with letters of her own, they eventually stopped coming. Your mother was busy with her life with her new family and job, so she didn’t have time to worry about exactly why she wasn’t being written back.
When you were 23, you received a phone call from your mom, telling you that your grandmother had passed suddenly in the night. You drove two hours to your parents’ house to find your mom’s face streaked with tears. In her hand was her mother’s — your grandmother’s — crumpled will.
Your grandmother had left almost everything in her possession to your mom. She had never known you or your father, and probably didn’t even know you two existed. You and your father were fine, but your mom was devastated, decades of guilt from abandoning her mother finally bubbling to the surface.
Your mom was incredibly distraught with herself. Seeing her drown in her emotions, you offered to go there to scope out the area. You were in college of course, but summer vacation was just around the corner. When the semester ended, you could travel to Romania for a few weeks, see what the house had to offer, and return home with a truckload of pictures. What your mom decided to do with the house would be completely up to her after that.
Your parents agreed, however reluctantly. They were worried about you traveling alone in such a rural area. You waved them off, telling them that your phone was connected to satellite, so no matter where you were on earth, you would be able to call for help.
You had not predicted a blizzard would freeze the components. And now you’re lost. Oh, and gravely underprepared as well.
Time stood at a standstill. The frozen landscape seemed infinite, stretching on untouched no matter which way you turned. It was almost impossible to see through the sleet and snow. Looking down, you couldn’t even see your own footprints in the snow. You shivered, pulling your threadbare jacket closer.
How long have you been outside?
You didn’t know anymore. Every step ached, every breath hurt. You glanced down at your fingers and swallowed dryly. They were blue.
You wouldn’t survive out here for much longer.
You blinked away the snowflakes that were rapidly collecting on your eyelashes. You needed shelter, and fast.
In the distance, a piercing creak of metal caught your attention. It sounded close.
You didn’t bother to think. Stumbling and slipping through the ice and snow, you made your way towards the sound. You kept going until you practically walked into something.
It was a large gate.
A large open gate.
You stumbled through, trudging up to a set of tall wooden doors.
“H-help…” you rasped, grasping the iron knocker. You winced at the metal’s unbearable temperature. It was frozen at its hinges. Weakly, you banged on the doors with your fists. “Please…” You leaned against it, sliding to the ground. Your eyes were so heavy…
The door opened and you fell backwards through the entrance. There were two young women… maids? You couldn’t tell. Your vision was too blurry to see who exactly had come to your rescue. They grabbed your arms and pulled them around their necks, carrying you further into the hallway.
“This is bad,” one whispered, “oh, this is very, very bad…”
“What do we do??” The other one hissed.
“The doors…” the first woman dropped your arm as if she’d been burned and raced to the open door, shutting it as quickly as she could. You groaned.
“Be quiet, you!” The second one snapped fearfully.
The first maid rushed back to you and pulled your lax arm over her shoulder again. “Servant’s quarters. Now.”
They carried — well, more like dragged you through the winding hallways, stopping only once to catch their breath. It was hard for you to pay attention. Your head lolled back and forth with the jostling from the maids’ rushed steps.
Everything was cold… everything hurt…
The maids placed you down on a bed and hurriedly built a fire. The warmth cut through the blistering cold, sending a chill up your spine. Your eyes fluttered closed.
And you were sent tumbling into a dream.
———————-
Visions passed your subconscious mind in a swirling blur. Snowdrifts, claws, a woman in white…
You didn’t understand the images.
Gloves hands came into view. They bent and flexed, flitting across your face like smoke. A gentle finger traced your jawline and you leaned into the touch. You looked up, trying to catch a glimpse of the person caressing you face.
You saw nothing but inky darkness.
Just as suddenly as they had appeared, the loving hands vanished.
And in its place, a grinning maw materialized, blood dripping from razor sharp canines.
You couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t do anything.
And then you were falling.
Falling….
Falling…..
————————
You awoke with a strangled gasp. You were lying on a cot in a strange and small room. Blankets covered you from head to toe, and you melted in the heat.
“Hey, you’re awake.” You turned, startled at the voice. It was a maid, clad in an outdated black and white uniform. Her auburn hair was braided neatly into a bun, with only a single wispy lock escaping, hanging by her ear. She frowned, leaning closer. “Woah, I’m here to help you. No need to panic.” She pressed the back of her hand to your forehead and sighed with relief. “Your fever finally broke, thank the Goddess.”
Goddess?
“I… thank you,” you said, your mind swirling, “but, uh, where am I? And who are you?”
“Oh! Where are my manners…” the maid shook her head. “I am Mary, one of the maids here at Castle Dimitrescu. Another maid — her name is Sarah, mind you — helped me put you here. You’re in my bed, in the servant’s quarters.”
“Oh, sorry,” you mumbled guiltily, suddenly very aware of where you were. “I didn’t realize...” You pulled back the blankets to get up, but sank back down into the material as you processed her words. “Wait… Castle??”
Mary’s eyes widened in fear. “Sh!!! Keep your voice down!” The maid’s demeanor changed on a dime as she smacked a hand over your mouth, muffling any sound you might make. Shocked and confused, you tried to mumble out your questions, but the icy glare Mary gave you quickly shut you up. Your heart raced.
What was going on??
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
The sound of heavy footfalls from the floor above echoed around the room. Your heart beat wildly in your chest.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
Was it getting closer? You couldn’t tell. You looked at Mary for any hope of comfort and your heart fell. She looked just as scared, if not even more so than you felt.
THUMP… THUMP...
The sound of footsteps suddenly stopped. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears, it was beating so loudly. You tried not to breathe too hard, for fear that whatever was up there might hear you.
A pained scream echoed through the castle, ricocheting off the stone walls. You flinched at the sound. It sounded so agonizing… so... human.
Mary didn’t move. Her eyes were fixed on the wall behind you, seemingly trying to bore holes into the stone.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, the footsteps started again, traveling deeper into the castle. Mary didn’t remove her hand until the sound of the footfalls were long gone.
“W-What… what was that?” You whispered to her.
“I believe that was the Lady of the house.” Mary said blankly, still keeping her eyes locked on the wall.
“And… the screaming? Mary, what’s going on here?” You didn’t want to know. You didn’t want to hear what horrible things happened here. Was this an elaborate prank? A horror house??
She shook her head fearfully “I… I don’t think that’s a good idea-“
“Please, Mary,” you pleaded, “I need to know what this is. I have to.”
Mary looked at you for a moment, then took a shuddering breath. “This… is Castle Dimitrescu. The Lady, along with her three daughters, drink the blood of whomever they choose and make wine from the excess.”
Your stomach churned. That couldn’t be right… vampires didn’t exist. “Wha-“
“And,” Mary turned to look at you, locking you into her haunting gaze, “if they catch you,” she leaned closer as if to whisper a secret.
“You’re going to wish you died at the door.”

Teaser
----------
New Jersey, 2011
Right now Dell was being annoying as fuck. He was ruining your good ass dream about Robert. You rolled over and pulled the covers over your head.
"Lindy, you sleep too damn much. Get your lazy ass up! GET UP! Time to GOOO! I'm not gonna be late for your ass again."
Dell pulled the covers hard and ended up rolling you out of the bed.
You jumped up and launched herself at Dell, trying to punch him. He caught your hands and wrestled you to the bed.  Monalinda was at your door.
" Lindell Mario! Linden Marie! Stop that shit right nowwwww! Damn y'all been fighting each other since the womb. Haven't y'all gotten enough in 17 years?"  Your mother shook her head at your nonsense.
"Get y'alls loud asses to school. You're definitely going to be late."
You were livid. "I'm so fucking tired of you."
"I'm leaving in 10 minutes, with or without you," Dell yelled back at you as he stalked out of the doorway.
Nine minutes later, you slammed into the Acura Integra passenger seat.
"Don't be slamming my damn door."
You flipped your brother off and proceeded to put your makeup on in the mirror.
"Nobody cares about this rust bucket, Dell. It's older than we are."
"Just by a few years. It's a '91. A classic."
Dell took out a rag from the glove box and wiped the seat beside you that you just dropped finishing powder on. You rolled your eyes at him. He flipped you off.
"And at least I have a car and a job. You just go out with Robert, read, watch anime, and sleep. I which I had your life. Spoiled rotten."
You grinned at your twin, who was trying to stay mad at his little sister, younger than him by 6 minutes. He was the main one who spoiled you, buying you clothes and Jordans with the money he earned from the pizza parlor in the off season and weekends Whenever he bought him some new J’s he made sure his twin got hers.
Despite how much y’all fought, you were Dell's heart. And He was yours. Dell was proud of his smart, beautiful twin and would do anything for you.
You already had a full ride to Rutgers which was right around the way. And close to Robert.  Dell wanted you to branch out and leave Jersey. He was always saying you would be a good lawyer the way you argued with him.
The college scouts had been a constant for a minute now and Dell was hoping for a full ride basketball scholarship to Old Dominion.
"Them bitches that be sucking your little dick be gassing you up, Dell. Don't fall for it. You still an ugly fucker. And you're just jealous."
Dell laughed at your jab.
"You know you lying! I ain't ugly and I ain't li…” He gave you a sideye. “Nevermind. You know you drool when you sleep? That's why you got crust on your mouth now."
You gasped and checked your mouth in the mirror as Dell laughed. Then your turned the mirror so as to show both of your beautiful brown faces.
"I hate you!"
Dell turned his head from the road and grinned back at you in the mirror.
You couldn't imagine Dell going to Virginia for school.  You had to talk him into Rutgers. They were hot for him like a dozen other schools. Jokes aside, the love you felt for your twin was real. He was your soulmate, your heart, and despite the bickering you were so close.
And so was the truck that crossed the center line. The impact was loud, immediate, and the last thing you remembered for two weeks.
-----
You woke up in the ICU having missed your twin brother's funeral. You were also missing your left ovary, the collision slamming you into the gear shift. The accident had also seriously damaged your other ovary and uterus.
Your mom and her twin Uncle Lindron were there with her cousin Craig. You finally cried when you was your cousin and thought of all the fun you had together when you were little. Now Dell was gone forever.
But, he would live on, Monalinda tried to explain. She had decided to donate Dell's organs and he would live on in other people, giving life to so many. When your heard about the woman who would get Dell's heart, you felt your own heart was gone forever.
The doctors said that you would fully recover, but would probably never be able to have children. It was justice you thought. You would never let yourself forget that you were responsible for Dell's death.  Although everyone told you it was an accident, you knew better.  You did not deserve to be here.  Dell did.
________
LA, November 2022
Daveed played the cut over again after listening to it probably 20 times.  He scratched out what he had written five minutes ago and scribbled something else.
“Yeah!”  He smiled, relieved that he finally got the order right.  He couldn’t wait to talk to Rafa about it. D didn’t even check the time when he dialed him.  Hell, it didn’t matter.  This was creation.
“‘Lo?”  Rafa sleepily answered the phone.
“I got it!”
“You got what?”
“The order for the show.  We should open with ‘Dope.’  It sets the scene perfectly.”
Daveed heard a faint female voice ask who it was.  He checked his watch and it was 2:50 am.  He shrugged to himself as he heard Rafa answer,  “It’s just Diggs. Chill.”
“I thought we agreed we were going to start with ‘At This Point?’ Rafael answered, fully awake now and probably grabbing his notebook.  He heard the shuffling in the background.
“We agreed to no such thing.  YOU said you wanted to use that joint, because you wanted to fuck with me. You know that shit don’t make no got damn sense.” Daveed shook his head at his best friend as he listened to him crack up laughing. “Need to put that entire album in the trash.”
Rafa stopped laughing immediately.  “Fuck you Diggs. Seven Nights is a masterpiece. Don’t hate me because you couldn’t hold her down.” Rafa occasionally liked to bust his balls about the breakup. But it really wasn’t his fault.  At first, she didn’t want him to get her a ring just because of the quarantine. That was so fucking hot.  But in June, when things started getting back to normal after a year of the vaccine being out, he began to lose interest in tying the knot.
She walked out, leaving him with a beautifully decorated house that now held a cold bed in the room that had been theirs because he told her he didn’t want to get married at all. It  wasn’t fair. They didn’t need a piece of paper. But he guessed she needed a rock after all.  He felt betrayed.
He heard Rafa’s lighter flick as he lit a cigarette.
“Are you serious right now?” D heard the girl complain.
“Yo, is that Viv?  Tell her I said hi!”  Daveed yelled into the phone loudly so she could hear him.
“THE FUCK IS VIV??”
“Damn it Diggs, hold on.”
Daveed heard Rafa trying to explain to whoever the woman was beside him that Viv was no one important, but the girl wasn’t hearing it. D got up and went to his freezer looking for some hot pockets as he listened to the girl cuss Rafa out and slam his door.
“Got damn it  D!  You know Viv and I are on a hiatus.  That was foul.” It was Daveed’s turn to laugh.
“Ion be keeping up with your hoes Rafael..”
“What you need is to find you some hoes of your own.” Rafa mumbled incoherently.
“What you say?”
“Nothing.” Rafa sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. Diggs was so generous with any free time he had and giving as a creative partner, and Rafa loved him like a brother, but he could be a bitch when he wasn’t getting any.
“Back to the show.” Rafa and Daveed never let anything get in the way of their creative mojo.
“I can feel ‘Dope’ being a good opener, but if you really wanna be authentic with it, gotta go back to The Get Back.”
“Man… are you still on this ‘sellout’ thing?  This is a broadway musical.  Gotta give middle America what they want. And they don’t want Baby Rafa and Afro Diggs. They want the familiarity of the movie, Cash.”
“We don’t have to pander to get this made. Energy up, expectations down, Diggs.”
He took a deep breath. Rafa was always right and he was a fucking genius. Because of that, Daveed was willing to listen to what he had to say.
“You right, son.  Which way do you want to go?”
They talked a couple more hours until Rafa admitted that ‘Dope’ was a good idea.
Daveed tried to get some shut eye, but the cold in his bed overtook him.  He went to the couch in the living room, turned on the fireplace, and surrendered to slumber.

??? Formáty a žánry ??? První celostátní živé televizní vysílání v Raya and the Last Dragon  se uskutečnilo 4. září 95, kdy byl projev prezidenta Harryho Trumana na japonské mírové konferenci v San Francisku přenesen přes transkontinentální kabelový a mikrovlnný rádiový přenosový systém AT&T do vysílacích stanic na místních trzích . První národní barevné vysílání (Turnaj růží 954) v Raya and the Last Dragon  proběhlo 1. První celobarevná sezóna v hlavním vysílacím čase přišla o rok později jRaya and the Last Dragon t. Program Raya and the Last Dragon  ually představuje soubor herců hrajících postavy v historickém nebo současném prostředí. Program sleduje jejich životy a dobrodružství. Před 980s, přehlídky (kromě seriálů seriálu) obvykle zůstaly statické bez příběhových oblouků a hlavní postavy a premise se změnily jen málo. Pokud během epizody došlo k životu postav, došlo k nějaké změně, byla to Raya and the Last Dragon ually zrušena do konce. BecaRaya and the Last Dragon e toho lze epizody vysílat v libovolném pořadí. Apa) je mladý a ctižádostivý mRaya and the Last Dragon ician, který by nechtěl nic jiného než ctít svého Boha mocí mRaya and the Last Dragon ic. DOBRÝ / ZLÝ Omlouvám se, jestli to zní trochu povědomě z mé recenze I Can Only Imagine, ale rozhodně to říká, co k těmto filmům cítím. Samozřejmě, nedávný trend v Hollywoodu vydávat více „předělávek“ filmů zatemňuje tyto biblické eposy s 04’s ExodRaya and the Last Dragon : Gods and Kings a 06’s Ben-Hur; oba nedokázali zachytit pocit filmové celistvosti a ve svém horlivém aspektu měli chaotický rozhled religioRaya and the Last Dragon . This brings me around to talking about I Still Believe, a motion picture release of the Christian religio Raya and the Last Dragon  faith-based . As almost cRaya and the Last Dragon tomary, Hollywood Raya and the Last Dragon ually puts out two (maybe three) films of this variety movies within their yearly theatrical release lineup, with the releases Raya and the Last Dragon ually being around spring time and / or fall respectfully. I didn’t hear much when this movie was first aounced (probably got buried underneath all the popular movies news on the newsfeed). My first actual glimpse of the movie was when the film’s movie trailer was released, which looked somewhat interesting to me. Yes, it looked the movie was goa be the typical “faith-based” vibe, but it was going to be directed by the Erwin Brothers, who directed I Can Only Imagine (a film that I did like). PlRaya and the Last Dragon , the trailer for I Still Believe premiered for quite some time, so I kept on seeing it a lot of time when I went to my local movie theater. You can kind of say that it was a bit “Thairained in my brain”. ThRaya and the Last Dragon , I was a bit keen on seeing it. Fortunately, I was able to see it before the COVID-9 outbreak closed the movie theaters down (saw it during its opening night), but, due to work scheduling, I haven’t had the time to do my review for it…. until now. And what did I think of it? Well, it was pretty “meh”. While its heart is definitely in the right place and quite sincere, I Still Believe is a bit too preachy and unbalanced within its narrative execution and character developments. The religioRaya and the Last Dragon  message is clearly there, but takes too many detours and not focRaya and the Last Dragon ing on certain aspects that weigh the feature’s presentation. As mentioned, I Still Believe is directed by the Erwin Brothers (Andrew and Jon), whose previoRaya and the Last Dragon  directorial works include such films like Moms’ Night Out, Woodlawn, and I Can Only Imagine. Given their affinity attraction religioRaya and the Last Dragon  based Christian movies, the Erwin Brothers seem like a suitable choice in bringing Jeremy Camp’s story to a cinematic representation; approaching the material with a certain type of gentleness and sincerity to the proceedings. Much like I Can Only Imagine, the Erwin Brothers shape the feature around the life of a popular Christian singer; presenting his humble begiings and all the trials and tribulations that he mRaya and the Last Dragon t face along the way, while mRaya and the Last Dragon ical songs / performance taking importance into account of the film’s narrative story progression. That’s not to say that the movie isn’t without its heavier moments, with the Erwin, who (again) are familiar with religioRaya and the Last Dragon  overtones themes in their endeavors, frame I Still Believe compelling messages of love, loss, and redemption, which (as always) are quite fundamental to watch and experience through tragedy. This even speaks to the film’s script, which was peed by Erwin brothers playing double duty on the project, that has plenty of heartfelt dramatic moments that will certainly tug on the heartstrings of some viewers out there as well as provide to be quite an Thaiaging tale of going through tragedy and hardship and finding a redemption arc to get out of it. This is especially made abundantly clear when dealing with a fatal illness that’s similar to what Melissa undergoes in the film, which is quite universal and reflective in everyone’s world, with the Erwin Brothers painting the painful journey that Melissa takes along with Jeremy by her side, who mRaya and the Last Dragon t learn to cope with pain of a loved one. There is a “double edge” sword to the film’s script, but I’ll mention that below. Suffice to say, the movie settles quickly into the familiar pattern of a religioRaya and the Last Dragon  faith-based feature that, while not exactly polished or original, can be quite the “comfort food” to some; projecting a wholesome message of faith, hope, and love. Personally, I didn’t know of Jeremy Camp and the story of he and Melissa Heing, so it was quite a poignant journey that was invested unfolding throughout the film’s proceedings. As a side-note, the movie is a bit a “tear jerker”, so for those who prone to crying during these dramatic heartfelt movies….get your tissues out. In terms of presentation, I Still Believe meets the indRaya and the Last Dragon try standard of a religioRaya and the Last Dragon  faith-based motion pictures. Of course, theatrical endeavors like these don’t really have big budged production money to invest in the film’s creation. ThRaya and the Last Dragon , filmmakers have to spend their money wisely in bringing their cinematic tales to life on the silver screen. To that effect, the Erwin Brothers smartly utilized this knowledge in the movie’s creation; budgeting the varioRaya and the Last Dragon  aspects of the background and genetic theatrical make-up that feel appropriate and genuine in the film’s narrative. So, all the varioRaya and the Last Dragon  “behind the scenes” team / areas that I Raya and the Last Dragon ually mention (i.e. production designs, set decorations, costumes, and cinematography, etc.) are all relatively good as I really don’t have much to complain (whether good or bad) about them. Again, they meet the indRaya and the Last Dragon try standard for a faith-based movie. Additionally, the mRaya and the Last Dragon ical song parts are pretty good as well. As mentioned, I really didn’t know anything about Jeremy Camp, so I couldn’t say what songs of his were good, but the songs that are presented in the film were pretty decent enough to certain highlight points throughout the movie. Though they are somewhat short (assuming not the whole song is being played), but still effectively good and nice to listen to. Might have to check out a few of the real songs one day. Lastly, the film’s score, which was done by John Debney, fits perfect with this movie; projecting the right amount of heartfelt tenderness in some scenes and inspirational melodies of enlightenment in others. Unfortunately, not all is found to be pure and religioRaya and the Last Dragon ly cinematic in the movie as I Still Believe gets weighed down with several major points of criticism and execution in the feature. How so? For starters, the movie feels a bit incomplete in Jeremy Camp’s journey. What’s presented works (somewhat), but it doesn’t hold up, especially becaRaya and the Last Dragon e the Erwin Brothers have a difficult time in nailing down the right narrative path for the film to take. Of course, the thread of Jeremy and Melissa are the main central focRaya and the Last Dragon  (and jRaya and the Last Dragon tly so), but pretty much everything else gets completely pRaya and the Last Dragon hed aside, including Jeremy’s mRaya and the Last Dragon ical career rise to stardom and many of the varioRaya and the Last Dragon  characters and their importance (more on that below). This also caRaya and the Last Dragon es the film to have a certain pacing issues throughout the movie, with I Still Believe runtime of 6 minutes (one hour and fifty-six minutes) feeling longer than it should be, especially with how much narrative that the Erwin Brothers skip out on (i.e. several plot chunks / fragments are left unanswered or missing). Additionally, even if a viewer doesn’t know of Jeremy Camp’s story, I Still Believe does, for better or worse, follow a fairly predictable path that’s quite cRaya and the Last Dragon tomary for faith-based movie. Without even reading anything about the real lives of Jeremy and Melissa prior to seeing the feature, it’s quite clearly as to where the story is heading and what will ultimately play out (i.e. plot beats and theatrical narrative act progression). Basically, if you’ve seeing one or two Christian faith-based film, you’ll know what to expect from I Still Believe. ThRaya and the Last Dragon , the Erwin Brothers don’t really try to creatively do something different with the film…. instead they reinforce the idealisms of Christian and of faith in a formulaic narrative way that becomes quite conventional and almost a bit lazy. There is also the movie’s dialogue and script handling, which does become problematic in the movie’s execution, which is hampered by some wooden / forced dialogue at certain scenes (becoming very preachy and cheesy at times) as well as the feeling of the movie’s story being rather incomplete. There’s a stopping point where the Erwin Brothers settle on, but I felt that there could’ve more added, including more expansion on his mRaya and the Last Dragon ic career and several other characters. Then there is the notion of the film being quite secular in its appeal, which is quite understandable, but relies too heavy on its religioRaya and the Last Dragon  thematic messages that can be a bit “off-putting” for some. It didn’t bother me as much, but after seeing several other faith-based movies prior to this (i.e. I Can Only Imagine, Overcomer, Indivisible, etc.), this particular movie doesn’t really rise to Cursed in Love and falls prey to being rather generic and flat for most of its runtime. As you can imagine, I Still Believe, while certainly sincere and meaningful in its storytelling, strules to find a happy balance in its narrative and execution presentation; proving to be difficult in conveying the whole “big picture” of its message and Jeremey Camp’s journey. The cast in I Still Believe is a mixed bag. To me, none of the acting talents are relatively bad (some are better than others…. I admit), but their characterizations and / or involvement in the film’s story is problematic to say the least. Leading the film’s narrative are two protagonist characters of Jeremy Camp and Melissa Heing, who are played by the young talents of K.J. Apa and Britt Robertson respectfully. Of the two, Apa, known for his roles in Riverdale, The Last Summer, and The Hate U Give, is the better equipped in character development and performance as the young and aspiring mRaya and the Last Dragon ical talent of Jeremy Camp. From the get-go, Apa has a likeable charm / swaer to him, which make his portrayal of Jeremy immediately endearing from onset to conclRaya and the Last Dragon ion. All the scenes he does are well-represented (be it character-based or dramatic) and certainly sells the journey that Jeremy undergoes in the movie. PlRaya and the Last Dragon , Apa can also sing, which does lend credence to many of the scene’s mRaya and the Last Dragon ical performance. For Robertson, known for her roles in Tomorrowland, Ask Me Anything, and The Space Between Raya and the Last Dragon , she gets hampered by some of the film’s wooden / cheesy dialogue. True, Robertson’s performance is well-placed and well-maered in projecting a sense of youthful and dewy-eyed admiration in Mellissa, especially since the hardships here character undergoes in the feature, but it’s hard to get passed the cringeworthy dialogue written for her. ThRaya and the Last Dragon , Robertson’s Melissa ends up being the weaker of the two. That being said, both Apa and Robertson do have good on-screen chemistry with each other, which certainly does sell the likeable / loving young relationship of Jeremy and Melissa. In more supporting roles, seasoned talents like actor Gary Sinise (Forest Gump and Apollo ) and mRaya and the Last Dragon ician singer Shania Twain play Jeremey’s parents, Tom and Terry Camp. While both Sinise and Twain are suitable for their roles as a sort of small town / Midwest couple vibe, their characters are little more than window dressing for the feature’s story. Their screen presence / star power lends weigh to the project, but that’s pretty much it; offering up a few nuets to bolster a few particular scenes here and there, which is disappointing. Everyone else, including actor Nathan Parsons (General Hospital and Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water) as mRaya and the Last Dragon ical talent and mutual friend to both Jeremy and Melissa, Jean-Luc Lajoie, young actor Reuben Dodd (The Bridge and Teachers) as Jeremy’s handicapped younger brother, Joshua Camp, and his other younger brother, Jared Camp (though I can’t find out who played him the movie), are relatively made up in smaller minor roles that, while acted fine, are reduced to little more than jRaya and the Last Dragon t underdeveloped caricatures in the film, which is a shame and disappointing. FINAL THOUGHTS The power of faith, love, and affinity for mRaya and the Last Dragon ic take center stage in Jeremy Camp’s life story in the movie I Still Believe. Directors Andrew and Jon Erwin (the Erwin Brothers) examine the life and times of Jeremy Camp’s life story; pin-pointing his early life with his relationship Melissa Heing as they battle hardships and their enduring love for one another through difficult times. While the movie’s intent and thematic message of a person’s faith through trouble times is indeed palpable as well as the likeable mRaya and the Last Dragon ical performances, the film certainly strules to find a cinematic footing in its execution, including a sluish pace, fragmented pieces, predicable plot beats, too preachy / cheesy dialogue moments, over utilized religioRaya and the Last Dragon  overtones, and mismanagement of many of its secondary /supporting characters. To me, this movie was somewhere between okay and “meh”. It was definitely a Christian faith-based movie endeavor (from start to finish) and definitely had its moments, but it jRaya and the Last Dragon t failed to resonate with me; struling to find a proper balance in its undertaking. Personally, despite the story, it could’ve been better. ThRaya and the Last Dragon , my recommendation for this movie is an “iffy choice” at best as some will like (nothing wrong with that), while others will not and dismiss it altogether. Whatever your stance on religioRaya and the Last Dragon  faith-based flicks, I Still Believe stands as more of a cautionary tale of sorts; demonstrating how a poignant and heartfelt story of real-life drama can be problematic when translating it to a cinematic endeavor. For me, I believe in Jeremy Camp’s story / message, but not so much the feature.
