This school of scalloped hammerheads was not a sight we expected to see, but what a sight it was! Experts are actually unsure why scalloped hammerheads school, but some theorize they school this way as juveniles, and continue the behavior into young adulthood!

How could I run an oceanography studyblr without beaches' pictures??

These photos are from mid-August, it was my first time seeing the sea without my glasses, it's been 8 years since it last happened guys!!!

I was aiming to exercise my oceanographer skills by identifying the shells and algae I'd found along the sand band, but unfortunately (or not?) it didn't have many study objects for me hahah

Anyway, having a good time on the beach is always a great way to spend the day, 100% recommend!!

I should probably edit my bio, ef-1.com was a psuedo studyblr at some point but even post purging my blog of study content, I've yet to remove it. It's that weird unshakeable, encompassing parasitism of Law.

Hello! My name is Emma, and I’m a somewhat successful student. I have a B.S. in Marine Biology, which I got from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2021. Close encounters!

My beautiful koi betta Bisby has had a jumping spider neighbor taking advantage of her tank light to hunt bugs under for some time, and recently they met face to face! Very happy to capture each of them acknowledging the other - and Bisby's quick look back at me as if to say "you're seeing this too right?!" 🧡

Edit ✨️ For all those concerned, yes, she does have a lid! I'd just cleaned and was hanging out right there where I filmed from at my office desk. If you are new to fish keeping, please invest in a good lid or when picking setups, favor tank kits that include one!

Week 3, Saturday of @myhoneststudyblr's studyblr quarantine challenge!

One of my favorite places in the world is the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California! I grew up in the area so we went there pretty often when I was younger, both for school field trips and also just with my family, so I have a lot of fond memories there. Each time I go back I'm still mesmerized by all the amazing creatures that live there and there's always something new to look at and learn.

They have this one section where you can stand inside a glass half-donut shape (gosh this is so hard to describe!) and every minute or so water gushes out over the top of the glass around you, and it is the most beautiful thing ever, in my opinion! You stay completely dry but it feels almost like you're in a waterfall. Every time I go to the aquarium I always stand there for at least 5 minutes, just enjoying the look and sound of the water around the glass.
