HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!
Old followers remember my Akuma! Adrien Eros design! For this Valentine’s Day I decided to bring him back! I even wrote a small snipet! I know by the time I upload this it’s gonna be late but I had a pretty busy day and I am just glad that I was able to even finish this!
—————————————————————————————————————————-
She couldn’t see anything, Eros’s wings were covering her, she couldn’t see, she couldn’t hear. All she could feel was Adrien’s-no…Eros’s magic trying to transform her, make her surrender to his power. Become what he wanted her to become. The intense feeling of his love was like a noose around her neck, suffocating and sweet. Oh god it was so sweet and warm and it…She was suffocating, she needed air but if she desired air she would have to give in.
Marinette tried to claw at the golden armor of her lover-no! Her friend! He wasn’t her lover! He was her friend! He made that clear that he wasn’t in love with Marinette!
Yes he is, you can have his love if you just give in
Her fingers pulled and scraped against the metallic metal as Eros squeezed tighter, his golden armor shining as bright as the sun. She can feel Adrien’s breath, he’s chuckling, he waiting.
Waiting for her to stop fighting and just surrender
Marinette lets out a muffled cry as another wave of love slams into her, his feathers so soft and comforting, so tempting to just surrender and see the sun again.
He is the sun, you can see him again if you just stop fighting
“Adrien please.” She begs, his wings shift, becoming tighter as he buries his face into her hair. “Please, let me go…Adrien!”
Marinette can’t tell which Miraculous is being used, Juliation, Passion, Pretension? It’s strong, familiar, it might be Diazzi or Ziggy. Orikko could work to but he can’t do anything with love for those concepts belonged to others.
“Adrien, you have to let go! Please! You’ve been Akumatized, this isn’t what you want!” She tries to pull his real self out, but the wings fold in more, Adrien’s head shifts from his place in her hair.
You are what he wants, just give him what he wants, he just wants you
As she struggled Marinette could remember how quickly Adrien had given into Monarchs control, one minute Lila had been whispering something to him, the Akuma sank into his ring and the next he was Eros, flying high into the sky and the diving down, grabbing Marinette and trapping her in his wings.
He learned the truth, he knows you love him, he loves you too…so why fight when he knows?
Marinette couldn’t breathe
He’ll be your oxygen, just give in
Marinette couldn’t see
He’ll be your eyes, just give in
She wanted it to stop!
She needed it to stop! She had to transform! She had to save him!
You can save him by loving him
No! She needed to get out! She needed to-
“Marinette please…just give in…just let me love you the way you did all those years ago”
His voice is the same but it’s weak, it’s vulnerable, it’s needy…it’s full of love.
She gives in
———————————————————-
Marinette intakes her first breath of air, her vision reappears as the soft wings gracefully open up, she feels lighter. Eros’s wings flair out revealing the world around them has changed, it’s prettier and softer. Marinette feels dizzy for a few seconds as he sees the rest of her legs transformed. Her pants and slippers gone as a light pink dress replaces her original clothes.
“There we go, isn’t that better? It feels good to give in rather than fight it.” Adrien chuckles as he looks down at Marinette, his face beaming brightly almost as bright as his halo that resides on his head.
Marinette doesn’t say anything as her conscious is drowned by the loving feeling.
Eros smiles and holds her tight.
“I love you Marinette.”
“Say you love me too”
Marinette gives in.
“I love you too…Adrien.”
Eros has found his Psyche and he doesn’t plan on letting her go.
He’ll make sure she stays

what's your opinion about the whole "hints of Adrien as sentimonster already exist and obvious from s1 and sentimonster Adrien is not just a theory, never been"
This already stated by the ambassador in twitter when s4 aired but I just... call me denial or stupid, but those "hints" that people claimed as one? doesn't looks like hints at all for me. Like, there's other explanation for, say, Adrien feather allergy, other than "it's hint that he's a sentimonster" and this "hints" that they claimed range from trivial one like feather allergy to the irritating one like "reason Adrien can't disobey Gabriel is because he's a sentimonster."
It's irritating because as an ex abused child, seeing people claimed Adrien trauma respond as "hint that he's sentimonster" is irritating, it's invalidating for me. There's no amount of "yes Adrien is abused, him being a sentimonster doesn't change the fact that he's an abused child" validating my experience and feelings as an ex abused child because That! Is! Not! The same!! Our experience is difference!!!
I'm sorry for the rant it just everytime I see people praised the sentimonster Adrien plot or how it's already been there from the first time, make me want to pull my hair. Not only because of the reason I stated above but also because that means I feel like i spend years watching this show just for me to be tricked by the showrunner. ...or it just me who's reading the show wrong like my friends said, that it's never a show where Adrien fight for his freedom, realized that he's abused and get out from that situation, that its like my friend said, this show is Marinette story, it's never been about Adrien, that he's never meant to be more than love interest despite his name is in the title.
I hate it...
I think the so-called "hints" are just things that people came up with in an act of desperation to justify bad story telling as it's quite clear that Adrien wasn't a sentimonster until season four. Possibly even late season four. Fans of the BS point to minor things to try to prove that this was always the plan while ignoring massive plot holes introduced by the twist. I made a list of these plot holes, but the two big ones are Chat Blanc and Gorizilla. These episodes would not exist if the sentimonster plot had been the plan from day one.
If Adrien was always a sentimonster, then Chat Blanc and Ephemeral should have been near identical since both episode let Gabriel control the time and place of final fight by luring his son to his lair, meaning that Gabriel had time to get the ring in both episodes, but the episodes are wildly different. Adrien had free will in Chat Blanc while Ephemeral was basically used to verify the senti-twist for the first time. I don't know how anyone can watch both of those episodes and claim that this isn't clear evidence of a massive retcon or - at the very least - terrible writing.
Similarly, Gorizilla has Gabriel straight up say "[Adrien is] hiding something for sure... there's only one way for us to uncover his secret." If the sentimonster plot had been planned from day one, then the "one way" would have been using the ring. Instead, Gabriel risks his son's life because Adrien wasn't a sentimonster at this point, so Gabriel couldn't force the answer out of him. And don't even try to say that this just means that Gabe wasn't willing to use the rings at this point. He literally lets his kid almost die in this episode! A little forced Q&A is nothing compared to that and him using the ring is not treated as a big deal by the story. He has no change of heart moment where he puts it on for the first time. He just starts using it in the later half of season four almost as if that's when it came into existence.
As for the things people point to, I've talked about the feather allergy in particular before because that one just drives me up a wall. Tldr: Adrien is a magical construct that is exactly what he was intended to be by his creator and no other sentimonster has been shown to have a feather allergy, so if you really think that this is foreshadowing, then you're basically arguing that Emilie designed her kid to have a feather allergy as some weird sort of joke. This is extra true since the allergy is explicitly stated to be a pigeon allergy and not a catch-all feather allergy.
There's also the fact that one of the writers posted the original script of Origins on twitter which revealed that the peacock wasn't originally going to be missing from (or possible in) the miracle box, meaning that it was only added later in the game, which is not shocking in the slightest given the way that Adrien was written in season one. To be more explicit, he's not written as a sheltered romantic. Like, remember how Nino asked Adrien for dating advice back in Animan and Adrien was just like "ask Marinette on a date to the zoo!" That's normal teen type advice, not sheltered teen advice and especially not advice from roses-and-candlelit-rooftop dates Chat Noir who doesn't really exist until season two.
In my opinion, the senti plot only became a thing in the fandom because it explains Emilie's sickness if you assume that she knew what using the peacock would mean, but chose to use it anyway, which was a reasonable assumption. It's one I made! But we now know that she probably didn't have any clue because Félix wouldn't exist if the consequences were known as shown by the play in Representation (S5E24) which gave us these lines:
Félix:(as Gabriel) After much study, I have discovered a solution for you and your wife. But there will be a price to pay. You will give me your best knight to guard my future son. In exchange, I will lend you this magic amulet. It will allow you to give life to your dream and to control it. Félix: Some time after his son was born, the lord of war fell ill. And the weaker he grew, the more convinced he became that he was paying the price for using magic.
I remember watching this, hearing the "there will be a price to pay" line and thinking, "Oh, so they did actually know what the peacock would do. Interesting." Only for the plot twist that this is just Gorilla's origin story. In retrospect, it was honestly kinda funny, but the big takeaway here is still that the story never needed to justify Emilie using the peacock because she apparently didn't chose to die for her child. She only found out that having a sentichild would kill her after Adrien already existed at which point it was too late to give fully informed consent. Given the implication of how the Agreste's got the peacock, it's kind of hard to feel bad for her. If anything, it feels like karma, but we don't know how much Gabriel hid from her so I could be wrong. We'll probably never know for sure because I highly doubt that the Agreste plot will be revisited in a meaningful way.
In summary, the senti twist is terribly setup and ultimately pointless. It adds nothing to the story outside of cheap drama and means one of two things: the twist was a massive, last-minute retcon or the writers are terrible at following their own lore and setting up twists. Neither option is good, but if you like the senti twist (a POV I'll never understand), then you don't want to acknowledge that because you want to feel like it was a good addition instead of something that should have stayed in the realms of fanfiction where authors could reshape canon to make the twist work or treat it with the severity it deserves.
------------
On a more personal note, I'm sorry that you're feeling invalidated by people's reaction to this twist. I agree that the ways its played really downplays and even outright ignores Adrien's trauma which is extra disappointing since it could have been used to highlight just how much Adrien's home life has hurt him. Supposedly he's no different from a normal human, but no normal human would be okay having their free will overwritten like he has. This change in status hasn't actually changed anything about how messed up his treatment has been unless you don't think Adrien is equal to a normal human.
Basically, there's a lot of cognitive dissonance that goes on in the minds of fans who like the way canon has handled this theory.
Even if we ignore that, the fact that Adrien's not the main character doesn't mean that he deserves to be nothing more than Ladybug's perfect, magical arm-candy. One of the show's major flaws is its obsession with focusing everything on Marinette. I've talked before about how that choice does her no favors.
Most long-running TV shows understand that it's actually a good idea to flesh out more than one character because you need a strong ensemble cast to make long-running shows work. Ron Stoppable, Tuxedo Mask, and other girl-power male love interests show us that good shows tend to give the love interest more development as time goes on. Meanwhile, Miraculous has made Adrien less and less important with each passing season even though he's a titular characters.
No, being in the title doesn't mean that he has to be important, but I use that phrasing as a short hand for the fact that Chat Noir was important for the first four seasons. The fact that his name was in the title made sense and felt totally earned because he'd earned equal billing to the lead. He was key to the plot. His father was the villain. He and Ladybug were the only holders chosen by Master Fu and the only holders given their miraculous full time. Chat Noir was also the emotional core of every final, giving Ladybug the strength to win the day. In other words, we were given the show the title promised until, suddenly, we weren't. The "twist" is that Adrien doesn't matter outside of giving Marinette someone to kiss and trauma dump on and we're now going into a season where the villain no longer has anything to do with Adrien and where everyone has a miraculous, so don't expect that status quo to improve. The bug and cat team is dead and gone.
So, no, I don't think that you were reading the show wrong by expecting Adrien's backstory to mean something. You're perfectly valid to expect good, logical writing instead of the nonsense we got. Hopefully you can find some good content in other works or in fanfiction for this show. The main reason that I write Miraculous fanfic is because there are so many good ideas that have been totally squandered in the name of cheep petty drama and it's natural to feel disheartened by that. The only reason I'm not devastated by season five is because I personally thought that the Queen Bee plot was a canary in a coal mine, warning us that this show was going to have terrible writing for anything that lasted longer than an episode. I never imagined how bad it would get, though, or I probably would have stopped watching sooner instead of keeping up with canon so that I could follow the fan content.
I have personally taken a great deal of pleasure in writing stuff where Adrien's trauma is acknowledge, Gabriel pays for his crimes, and Marinette gets to be a good supportive girlfriend instead of treating Adrien as her therapist while he gets nothing. I think it would have been beautiful if the show had focused more on Chat Noir being Ladybug's support instead of mostly using him as comic relief. If they'd gone that route, then they could have very easily let the roles reverse after Gabriel's defeat, letting Marinette finally have a chance to support Adrien after everything he's done for her. That's how you write a satisfying, balanced romance for the ages.

Welcome back to my bullshit
This time; Marc! Aka Argeiphontes, the Peacock Holder of this AU!
Don't ask why, the vibes just work, mk? Mk.
Also, yes, I drew his weird hair thingy as a ponytail. I'm not drawing that shit and you can fight me on it.
And now for the random bullshit facts
• Marc found the Peacock Miraculous in an alley and thought it looked nice, so he decided to take it with him. Meanwhile, Nathalie was freaking tf out cause she lost it.
• He freaked out and threw Duusuu out of a window when he first put the broach on and he popped out.
• His parents own a successful tech business overseas so he uses a voice changer to hide his identity better, using a different voice every patrol. It's also why he can 'sneak out', and be Argeiphontes whenever - his parents are never at their house so he doesn't need to sneak.
• Marc usually sends Sentimonsters (idk what he'd call them tbh) that look like him to help with fights and watches from a distance cause he doesn't want to get in LB and CN's way.
• He can glide thanks to the tail feathers on his costume and essentially has the Minecraft slow fall effect.
• His fan's feathers are extremely sharp and are basically like knives. He can also control them even if he isn't using them to create an Amok.
• He figured out Nathaniel and Marinette's identities pretty quick because.. come on. It's painfully obvious. He's still in denial about Adrien being Chat Noir, though, because of the horrendous puns.
• His 'mask' is actually moreso makeup than a mask. He doesn't intentionally conceal his face, it just happens to be covered by his hood most of the time. His reasoning is because he's basically invisible in his civilian life anyway, so nobody would even recognise him.
• When Marc finally joins the art club and has friends other than Marinette, there's a miscommunication that makes them think he hates heroes and treat him kinda crappy at first cause of it, which is what leads to Reverser in this AU. Luckily he doesn't have his broach on when he's akumatised. He kinda takes the 'hating heroes' thing and runs with it as an excuse as to why he isn't a hero on the rare occasion someone (*cough* Alix and Nath *cough*) starts connecting the dots.
• People can't really figure out if Argeiphontes is meant to be a hero or a villain. He's usually helping, but sometimes his Sentimonsters get out of control and start seemingly attacking people and destroying stuff for no reason. This is mostly because of the Peacock Miraculous being damaged, which he figured out and decides to start fighting himself and not with Sentimonsters.
• The 'childlock' is keeping Marc safe from the damaged Miraculous the most part, but he's still starting to get sick. Later down the line, he'll likely need a mobility aid of some sort like Nathalie had in canon but it isn't taking effect as fast because of the power limitations.
• The hoodie in his costume isn't actually.. a part of his costume. He just consistently puts it on overtop because he gets cold. It also hides his Miraculous, but it's not intentional and he doesn't even realise that he's hiding it until Vixen points it out.

2022 General Fic Rec List
It's the end of the year which means it's finally time for the ML Big Bang's yearly fic rec lists! We're really excited to bring you our contributors' favourite fics started this year to supply you with plenty of reading material while you're waiting for the Big Bang fics' publication in January.
deliverin' by @fragileizy 5,750 words, General, 2/2 chapters
“Is everything okay?” “Yeah. Yes, of course it is, I just”—she swallows ash and ice—“it was just the Book I was reading. It, uh… their family separates after a bit, and it’s all a misunderstanding, and—” she can’t finish. She’s not allowed to. “Do you need a hug, Jules?” I need you to stay, she wants to cry. You’re my only brother. And I’ll miss you so terribly when you’re gone. Every day, I’ll be alone without you, because Mom will try to visit as often as you always visit me, but she’ll keep feeling guilty for the rest of our time together because she knows how upset I am. And she’ll be upset, too. I’ll never be able to watch her cry, but I’ll hear her. And I don’t think I’m strong enough to deal with that. “I do,” she says instead, wings closing up around her like a ball. “Please. Just for a little while.”
"Cute!!!"
Telling the bees by @feather-dancer 5,768 words, Teen, 1/1 chapter
Chloé and Zoé have a routine where at least once a week they meet up somewhere for a chat which is an excuse to get away from their shared mother and to vent as much as anything. Folklore says it is very important to keep the bees up to date with the coming and goings of their keepers, these two are no different. Part of Haven of Strays.
"Canon has denied us any real Zoe&Chloe sisterly content. It's up to the fanfic community ot make up the difference. This author does all that and more in a weighty interaction between two sisters who are not friends, but are sisters."
Chaotic Company by ADeadmansBliss 5,450 words, Mature, 1/1 chapter
It's been nearly a week since Adrien's acquisition of a new pet and unfortunately traumatic injury is not something that can be recovered from quickly. Bored with only an unconscious former hero for company he decides to sneak out to find some entertainment which goes fine until Hawkmoth decides to ruins it.
"It's unlike anything I've read before and it's so super fantastic!!!"
Stranger Acquaintance by @bugchat 1,885 words, Teen, 1/1 chapter
Marinette just wants to live her Special Agent life as quietly as possible. Put bad guys behind bars, maybe make friends with three people at work, and eat pizza once they close a case. What makes its way into her life is a mop of blond hair with a stunning smile and too much of a back-talking mouth to be healthy for her.
"It's an good AU concept with fun dynamics, and it's a short, easy read! Detective Marinette and her team of four being Alya, Nino and Kagami. There's so much room for sequels if the author chooses to!"
maybe shake a tambourine by noirshitsuji 1,703 words, Teen, 1/1 chapter
Written for a Miraculous Writer's Guild blog request: Start a story with "I need a place to stay." Felix looks at his cousin, sometimes. Looks and wonders. The silver ring he’d taken to wearing a couple of years ago is gone. But the Adrien he’s known since childhood isn’t there either, and, much as Felix would like to attribute the tapping he’s noticed his fingers do every time Adrien doesn’t answer one of his questions to annoyance, he knows it’s truly because he feels unnerved by it all.
"It's a lovely exploration in Felix's character and his feelings toward Adrien while absolutely teasing a glorious plot about Adrien, Marinette, and Gabriel"
(may we write it all down) in cursive light by @sunfoxfic 3,503 words, Teen, 1/1 chapter
Since retiring as a journalist, Alya hasn't been involved in an interview in several years. But now that her identity is out, that's about to change.
"An amazingly written future!fic that beautifully explores a time long after Hawkmoth's defeat and "our" heroes' retirement."
Off the Mark by @buggachat 4,632 words, General, 1/1 chapter
Ever since Nino's (frankly embarrassing) akumatization into Rocketear, Chat Noir's behavior had taken a strange and sudden turn in the presence of Carapace, and Nino could only think of one possible explanation: Chat Noir hated him. Somehow, Adrien didn't seem to agree.
"Any fic that focuses on Nino and Adrien being bffs is important. After Rocketear, Nino may have rambled a bit to Adrien about how weird it's been being around Chat Noir. Adrien is weirdly invested in this problem. A lot of misunderstanding leads to heightened emotions and eventual revelations. Just a really good examination of the difficulties of secret identities and being best friends."
Infestations and Maladies by @sunfoxfic 100 words, General, 1/1 chapter
Bunnix called Chat Noir to go to a mysterious version of the timeline and fix… something.
"A well-written drabble exploring a reverse Chat Blanc. A very clever concept written in a very clever way!"
In Memory Of by @graaythekwami 3,012 words, Teen, 1/1 chapter
Gabriel Agreste was never good with kids, but his granddaughter needed him.
"A very interesting story with a dark backstory, but it's very sweet and well-written."
I Am Your Ghost by @emmalylis 1,559 words, General, 1/1 chapter
Adrien attends one of Gabriel’s galas in his mother’s old dress.
"Adrien in a dress. Need I say more?"
goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (you were bigger than the whole sky) by @hanaasbananas 865 words, General, 1/1 chapter
Distantly, he hears the music still blaring behind him, the song mocking in its cheerfulness, imprinting itself into his memory as the soundtrack to his devastation. For a moment–the longest of his life–everything stands still, the universe holding its breath and then Sabine shrieks and it shatters like glass beneath his feet.
"This is short but its just so damn sad😭 hit me right in the feels"
Moon mission by @ultrakart 2,789 words, General, 1/1 chapter
For Fei, escaping her past is as difficult as trying to escape the Earth’s orbit.
"Kart is the king of the Shanghai special and this is such a sweet short fic that showcases just how great his writing over it is."

“Just because I like his cock doesn’t mean I like him,” Marinette hums, powdering her face.
Ah.
She’s missed a spot.
To be honest, there’s no need for it, given that today with be mostly the day where she uses the gloryhole, but it’s habitual to dress up. As a succubus, getting ready is part of the deal: feathers, pins, elaborate combs made of precious stones make her feel complete— not to mention makeup. Besides, with the powder, even the roughest throat fuck won’t ruin her makeup. She’s bulletproof. A long coat of mascara glides across her lashes already rimmed with gold, graphic liner. She’s stained her cheeks a shimmery orange so that it’ll reflect gold when she unglamours herself into her true skin. Beaded gold chains looped already in her hair like glass-cut rosary beads; red lips complete the look and gives her that signature demure smile.
She’s wearing the earrings this client gifted her, though he won’t be able to see it. But it turns demons really on to be able to just hear all the jewels and sparkles twinkling from the other side of the hole, and isn’t she here to deliver? Wearing jewels and rings and necklaces that they gave her?
Adrien is having none of this, fuming on her bed with his arms crossed. “I don’t believe you.”
“Adrien,” she giggles, turning to him from the giant mirror. A prominent pout of those beautiful lips makes him look rather younger. She’s always liked them young, youthful vigor that she won’t ever be able to replicate, and Adrien is as young as she can get given her strict parameters. He’s a five-hundred year old new-held. Her boyfriend is still such a novice about everything in life, and it shows in moments like this. Thick brows meet in the middle of his face; a smear of jealousy washes across his face like a sponge bath. She licks her teeth, facing back towards the mirror, closing the compact and reaches for a brush, wondering if she should make that frown of his disappear. “There is only one man in my life that I love, and it’s you.”
He’s call bullshit with a resounding: “I see the heart eyes you get when he comes down your throat.”
“Is that so? Oh, are you forgetting that I see the heart eyes when he fucks you?” she quips right back. “You can’t fool me, Baby.”
“That’s different!” he stammers. “It’s— I’m— it’s just part of the job.”
“And mine isn’t?”
Adrien goes quiet, combing through his bangs in frustration. “He’s… good at what he does.”
“Maybe a little too good?”
“Yes.” Then, like a punch: “No. He’s adequate.”
“Kitty-cat, you can like what he does. No one’s stopping you.” When he doesn’t reply, she sighs. “He’s very good at what he does, which is good, right? Would you rather this be a bad experience?”
“No.”
“Then?”
“I just… don’t want him to be better than me.”
There it is. That’s the worry that was bleeding out of him, tense like he’s pulled up on strings. That’s… well, she expected this, really. When she turns, she moves with her whole body, ready to stand if necessary, and gives him a little smile. “He’s a demon with a big dick, but he’s not better than you.”
“You like him,” Adrien reiterates. “I know you do. It makes me worried.”
“Again, I think if anything, you like him more.” She gives her thighs a pat, wondering if she should walk over to him and ease that grimace off his face with a few kisses. She’s walking before she can even blink, sultry and sweet on heeled shoes. “You’re not replaceable— you’re still my boyfriend. Even if I’m servicing someone else. It’s only with him that you’re this jealous of, why specifically him? Have you two met?”
“I think I saw him yesterday.” He quiets down into a murmur, hands sliding up her thighs when she reaches him and stands between his knees. With him on the bed, he has to look up, and she uses this opportunity to finger his hair and hum until his eyes close gently at the noise. Nestled right into her cleavage, Adrien’s lashes leave butterfly kisses against the valley of her breasts. “Through the door when I finished. He’s… beautiful.”
They don’t usually get to see who’s behind the wall. They lick and fuck anonymously, which is safer for both client and worker. No one can be blamed if there is no name on either side.
“More than you?”
“Honestly? Yes.”
“I’m not so sure.” After all, Adrien is gorgeous. He’s a blonde beauty, with amber skin and light green eyes, and he’s just so, so cute, with innocence written all over his face like he isn’t the one who licks her clit until she’s almost peeing. He still has that baby fat in his cheeks, made more evident when he pillows into her chest and hides there, taking a breath in while she kisses those angelic, golden curls. “You’re so pretty, Adrien.”
“He’s more.”
“How so?”
“His nose is crooked,” he mumbles into her cleavage. He’s always felt more safe this way, buried into her chest. “It’s lopsided like he got into a fight but in a way that implies he’s won. He’s got crows feet; he’s old. Almost forties.”
She snorts. “Forties isn’t old.”
“Ancient,” he continues. “And his eyes, wow. Gorgeous. They’re blue, like yours.”

True Blue
Chapter 9: Fight and Flight
6534 words
“Aww, we forgive you too, Bluebird,” Golden Bug said affectionately. “By the way, do you have a name picked out? Not your real one, of course,” he chuckled.
“Uh.” Marinette’s mind raced as she thought. She wasn’t prepared for this! She’d only gotten this Miraculous half an hour ago! “Blue...wing?”
Golden Bug blinked and then smiled. “Bluewing! A pretty name for a pretty hero. Welcome to the team!”
You can read the chapter below or on AO3!
Marinette stood in the light of the attic window, staring in awe at the blue material stretching over her body to cover it.
A flash of gold on her shoulders caught her eye as two epaulettes appeared on her shoulders; blue-purple-gold feathers grew and spread into a fan in her right hand; she felt herself rise off the floor as a pair of winged heels formed on her feet. A surge of fabric flared out behind her, creating peacock-like shirttails, and above her head, her hair twisted itself into a crown braid. As the transformation ended, a thin, blue mask rimmed in gold spread across her face.
Feeling oddly in awe of herself, Marinette snapped her fan closed, examined the white gloves on her hands, and cautiously spun around on her heels, which were higher than she was used to yet didn’t seem to make her clumsier than usual.
Magic is pretty cool, Marinette thought as she faced M. Agreste with a neutral expression as she waited for his judgment.
He smirked as he looked over her suit, satisfied with the results of her and Duusu’s work.
“Excellent choice, Marinette! This is a true soldier’s uniform, perfect for fighting in, and it disguises your civilian appearance just enough that Golden Bug will never guess who you are. You look almost ready,” he mused. “I wonder — would you be willing to give the suit a test run? You’ve been late for lessons before; just tell Nathalie you fell asleep in a corner somewhere and she won’t suspect a thing. Oh, yes, this will do nicely!”
He sounded very excited about this, both Marinette’s successful transformation and the prospect of another akuma attack. But why? Surely he couldn’t expect her to win the final battle on her first day as a magic wielder!
“Why would I need to do that?” she asked him, trepidation clear in her voice. “If I detransform now, I could still be back downstairs in time for afternoon lessons, and we can always do whatever you’re thinking of later, right?”
M. Agreste only smiled, a bit darker this time, and adjusted his ascot. “We could do that. But wouldn’t you like to test the suit out a bit first, before you return to those dreary lessons of yours? It’s still possible that the suit won’t work for you, after all.”
Marinette glanced down at the fan she was holding and frowned. True, the suit was a little unfamiliar, but it had been made for her, and she could already tell that it fit perfectly.
Gabriel continued, “I’m proposing an akumatization, just a short one, mind you! You won’t be engaging the so-called heroes; you’ll only be looking on from the sidelines. I want you to test yourself beside them as they fight; run as fast as they do, leap between buildings, push yourself further than you’ve ever been able to. And you will find it all possible, thanks to your suit’s power! Once the fight is over, you will return to the mansion, detransform, and go back to your lessons as if nothing had happened until the time comes for your first real fight. Are you up to the task, Miss Marinette?”
Looking at M. Agreste’s determined expression, Marinette felt herself begin to cave. “I guess I could try doing that, but isn’t it more important for me to keep up with my lessons? I was already late enough this morning that I missed one; should we really risk me missing a whole other lesson in the same day?”
Tugging his ascot off, M. Agreste made a dismissive noise in the back of his throat. “Bah! You are already far ahead of the other students your age, Marinette. One missed lesson will not harm your progress. Nooroo, dark wings rise!”
Hawk Moth strode over to the window and opened a small panel in it, the one the akuma had flown through in the last fight.
“I will send the akuma out first, and then it will be your turn to go outside.” At Marinette’s bewildered look, he said, “The side door should let you out without any problems or spying eyes. Ready yourself,” he said, opening the top of his staff, which housed a ready-made akuma.
A pit grew in her stomach as Marinette watched the akuma fly toward the window. She wasn’t ready to fight anyone, not yet!
Then again, if M. Agreste wasn’t lying, she wouldn’t have to fight this time. She waited for Hawk Moth’s signal to go downstairs with her knees slightly bent.
“Go, my beautiful akuma,” Hawk Moth said softly. As the butterfly flapped its way through Paris, he turned to Marinette. “Nathalie should be busy; you may go downstairs and outside. Follow the akuma’s path to the park near your home; that is where the fight will begin. Be careful not to be spotted by Nathalie or the heroes.”
“I will. Wish me luck.” Marinette laughed breathlessly, because luck was against her now, wasn’t he?
Hawk Moth’s mouth curved into a confident smile. “You will not need it.”
He turned away from Marinette, back to the butterfly-shaped window and the dark akuma in the distance.
Marinette stepped into the elevator, letting its doors close around her like a coffin’s lid. It began its slow descent to the ground floor, and Marinette’s mouth flattened as she prepared for her (hopefully quick enough) dash through the side door. That’s the one the chef uses, right? she thought frantically. Yeah, okay, I know where that is.
The elevator opened, and she immediately ran to the side door; her heels caught on the rug and moved it out of place as she skidded to a halt and pulled the door open. The handle nearly broke off in her hand, a testament to the strength she’d suddenly gained. Behind her, the rug was still a rumpled mess a foot from the door. I’ll fix it later, she promised herself as she stepped outside and took a deep breath.
Now, to find the akuma. With few other options, Marinette decided to start running towards Place des Vosges. She was much faster than her untransformed self, she reasoned, so how long could it take?
Not all that long, apparently! But she nearly plowed into seven buildings, two statues, and three children on the way there. I’ll do better next time, Marinette thought with a firm nod as she came close enough to the park to see the transformed akuma in it.
He looked nothing like the others. For one thing, he was the ugliest akuma to date; for another, his bright, happy exterior did nothing to prepare for the dark powers he held (which also seemed ironically harmless at first).
Standing on one of the park benches, the Bubbler waved his wand, trapping three pairs of adults in large bubbles and sending them flying up to the clouds. Marinette’s mouth fell open, and she shrank back behind a nearby building’s corner as if to protect herself from the ghastly akuma, who was cackling in a voice which seemed too familiar for comfort.
“Ahahaha! Hard to ruin kids’ fun from space, isn’t it? Hey, Paris! Come on, it’s time to party! No chores, no homework, no more nagging, just fun, fun, fun, fun! This is the Bubbler's gift to you.” The Bubbler jumped off the bench and strode over in the direction of François-Dupont. As he did so, he called out, “Adrien! Where are you, dude?”
Marinette’s face softened as her heart gave a little twinge. “Oh, Nino,” she whispered. “What happened to you?” How had someone made laid-back Nino upset enough to be akumatized?
Whatever it was, it wasn’t Adrien’s fault, Marinette knew. But before she could try to figure out what had happened, Chat Grise vaulted into the park and confronted the akuma.
She stood there silently at first, waiting for her partner to show up and for the Bubbler to show signs of discomfort. Being stared down by the holder of destruction was enough to crack some akumas; Marinette had seen one or two falter back when she still cheered for every win the heroes scored.
She couldn’t do that now, though. Today, she was officially joining the enemy side (the right side, not that the heroes seemed to know that). Should she do something to break up the tension and help Nino focus on his goal?
While she was still thinking, the Bubbler brought his wand out again and shot bubbles in Chat Grise’s direction with a smirk and a laugh. Chat Grise leapt out of the way, slashing one of the bubbles with her claws but backing away when the thin membrane started to pull her hand in instead of popping like she’d expected it to.
“Come on dude, can’t you see I’m busy?” Nino the Bubbler called in annoyance. “I need to throw my best friend a belated birthday party, to show him I might not have known, but I still care! Why don’t you join in on the fun instead of squashing it?”
His best friend? Marinette had once held that title, though they’d grown apart in recent years. She felt a stab of guilt as Chat Grise snarled and muttered something at the Bubbler.
As the two fought, Golden Bug arrived from the other side of the park, dangerously close to Marinette’s hiding spot. She crept back into the alley, flattening herself against a doorway and hoping none of them could see her.
“Hey, ugly! Not to bust your bubble, but if you care so much about giving your friend a birthday party, why do adults seem to take priority in your grand plan?”
The Bubbler turned to Golden Bug with a deep frown on his blue face. “You guys just don’t get it! If adults have their way, there will be no party at all! Men like Gabriel Agreste don’t care about us kids. We need to throw them all out!”
Marinette winced. Why had Hawk Moth chosen someone who hated him as his akuma? She couldn’t see this fight ending well. Also, when had Adrien gotten a new friend without telling her?
“Maybe—” Golden Bug said as he ducked and jumped and rolled to avoid the bubbles the akuma shot at him, “Maybe you should just try finding a different way to celebrate! I’m sure Adrien appreciates that you care so much about him, believe me, but do you really want to get rid of his father, whom I’m sure he still loves even if he is strict?”
The Bubbler lowered his brows and dipped his bubble wand into the mixture on his back. “Maybe he does, but dear ol’ Gabe still deserves his just reward!” He spun the wand in a circle, spreading bubbles out over the park and making it harder for the heroes to dodge them.
Marinette’s heart seized, but she wasn’t there to save the city’s golden duo from a problem that they had made.
Instead, she tried her best to mimic the flips, twists, and quick reflexes of the heroes from her place in the alley, counting on them being too busy evading the bubbles to notice her.
As she tried, sometimes succeeding and sometimes failing, to imitate them, her mind strayed to the adults Bubbler had sent up to space. What would happen if they never came back down, if Hawk Moth did end up winning this time? Would they die? Surely M. Agreste wouldn’t let that happen!
So distracted was she by her thoughts that she didn’t notice the fight moving to her.
A large bubble bounced around the corner, swatted by Chat Grise’s baton as she and Golden Bug pressed the Bubbler backwards. Noticing it, Marinette gulped and hurried further down the street, but it was too late.
The Bubbler saw her first, lowering his wand and frowning in confusion as Hawk Moth’s symbol appeared over his eyes. Chat and Golden Bug saw her next, both skidding to a halt as they looked over her outfit.
“You’re not Hawk Moth, are you?” Golden Bug asked, spinning his yo-yo in a defensive shield.
Marinette opened and closed her fan, stuttering as she tried to come up with an excuse. “Feathered me— I’m a bird—”
As Chat Grise lowered herself into an offensive stance, Marinette inhaled sharply. She wasn’t supposed to be seen today! She was failing already! Taking a slower breath, she lowered her fan and tried again.
“I’m bird-themed. Hawk Moth is butterfly-themed. I think the answer is obvious, right?”
Chat Grise straightened out her crouch with a frown. “Why are you hiding, then?” she asked quietly, her voice full of fire as she eyed Marinette warily.
“Yeah, you’re not exactly sending a clear signal here. I’d make it more obvious which side you’re on in the feather .”
Chat Grise looked questioningly at her partner. “The future?”
Golden Bug crossed his arms and ducked under the bubble the akuma half-heartedly threw his way. “It wasn’t my best, I’ll admit it. It’s hard to beak-lieve, but puns are hard to come up with on the spot!”
Marinette sighed in unison with Chat Grise. “That was painful,” she said disapprovingly. Then she flashed Golden Bug an apologetic smile. Maybe if she pretended to be friendly for now, she could get out of this without needing to fight two trained heroes?
“Hmph,” the Bubbler sniffed as he looked at the trio. Then he raised his bubble wand and directed a large bubble straight towards Marinette.
She could only watch in horror as the bubble drew closer, but the heroes had more presence of mind. Charging towards her from opposite directions, they attempted to move her out of the way... but instead, they wound up colliding in a tangled mess of super-powered teens caught in the bubble, which quickly shot upwards with all three of them squished inside.
Chat Grise was the first to move. “Ugh,” she muttered, scooting back from the others as much as she could to give them some space to untangle themselves. Golden Bug raised his head from Marinette’s lap, where it had landed, and pushed himself up with a groan.
“That did not go the way I thought it would,” he said, flashing Marinette an apologetic smile with honest green eyes that made her heart flutter in a way she’d never felt before. “Sorry, I promise we’re not usually this inept. Meeting you was a surprise, and I should’ve accounted for that, but I let us get trapped instead. You have every right to mad at me, but I promise, I will find a way out of this!”
“He usually does,” Chat Grise said with a small smile. “I— I’m sorry for earlier. I shouldn’t have assumed,” she said quietly.
Marinette blinked as she sat up in the bubble, ignoring the way her leg brushed against Golden Bug’s and the way her stomach seemed to fill with butterflies because of it.
“I forgive you,” she said quickly. “I shouldn’t have hung back like that; it did make me look suspicious, even though— I would never want to hurt you,” she said, swallowing down the pit that grew in her throat. It wasn’t a lie, was it?
“Aww, we forgive you too, Bluebird,” Golden Bug said affectionately. “By the way, do you have a name picked out? Not your real one, of course,” he chuckled.
“Uh.” Marinette’s mind raced as she thought. She wasn’t prepared for this! She’d only gotten this Miraculous half an hour ago! “Blue...wing?”
Golden Bug blinked and then smiled. “Bluewing! A pretty name for a pretty hero. Welcome to the team!”
Chat Grise nodded and offered her own quiet, “Welcome!”
Marinette blushed at all the attention as Golden Bug grabbed her hand closest to him and raised it to his lips for a kiss which did nothing to calm the fire in her cheeks.
“Guh,” she said as her heart stuttered out a disloyal rhythm. She turned her head away but panicked when she noticed that the bubble had reached the bottom of a cloud. “Gah!”
Pointing out the bubble, she grabbed Golden Bug’s head and directed his eyes outside, where clouds seemed to part around them as they went higher.
“Oh, no! Chat Grise, use your cataclysm now! We’ll figure the rest out on the way down!” Golden Bug cried.
“Cataclysm!” As soon as Chat Grise’s fist touched the bubble, it collapsed, sending the three teens downwards in a dizzying spiral.
“Lucky Charm!” Golden Bug cried desperately. A leaf blower dropped beside him, and he clutched it to his chest.
“Oh, that solves everything,” Bluewing muttered. At Golden Bug’s wounded look, she quickly amended, “I mean, I’m sure you’ll figure it out!” She offered him a thumbs up with a wavery smile made wavier by the wind.
He wasn’t looking, already busy trying to find a safe way to land. They were nearing the tops of the buildings. Privately, Marinette was giving up hope and kissing her dreams of getting back to class goodbye. Not that she loved school, but anything was better than dying in her opinion!
Golden Bug threw his yo-yo far away, managing to wrap it around the Eiffel tower. Before the line tightened, he turned to Chat Grise and Bluewing and yelled, “Hold on to me!”
Hesitating for only a moment, Bluewing grabbed onto his right side while Chat Grise latched on to his left. Then they were swinging full tilt towards the Eiffel tower, circling it in an orbit that was steadily growing smaller and closer to the tower.
“Chat Grise, your baton!”
Pulling back, Chat Grise took her baton out and quickly extended it to the ground. She held on to it tightly, and as Golden Bug released the yo-yo from around the tower’s metal beam, all three of them slid-tumbled down the baton to the ground, where they landed in a heap of bruised, but alive, super-powered teens.
Marinette could hardly believe she was alive.
There was a weed growing in the cement a few inches from her nose. She loved it more than she’d ever loved a plant before.
On either side of her, Golden Bug and Chat Grise were already pushing themselves up and getting ready to get back to the fight.
“I think I know what my Lucky Charm is for now!” Golden Bug said excitedly as he pushed his bangs out of his eyes and turned to Chat Grise and Bluewing. “But you’ll both have to help.”
He stopped and smiled, revealing the dimples in his cheeks, when he noticed Bluewing was still on the ground.
“Need a hand, Miss Blue?”
Bluewing stared at him as he extended the aforementioned hand. How could someone so irritatingly stubborn, who she was supposed to be fighting against, be this unbelievably cute? It wasn’t fair!
“T-thank you,” she stuttered as she reluctantly accepted his help up.
He pulled her to her feet with a smile and a wink as he turned to the east side of the tower, where the polychromatic Bubbler was approaching them with a pout on his lips.
“Dudes! What is it gonna take for you to learn your lesson, huh? Leave me and my buddies alone!”
He launched another flurry of bubbles at them, but these ones didn’t seem to be the trapping-you-and-sending-you-to-space type. No, Marinette realized as a nearby lamppost went down in flames, these bubbles were the exploding type!
Bluewing flinched as one of the bubbles glided towards her, but Chat Grise knocked it aside with her retrieved baton. It exploded harmlessly a few meters away, and Bluewing let out a sigh of relief before immediately feeling guilty.
Bubbler glared at Bluewing before sending another volley of bubbles towards them. This time, Golden Bug jumped in front of her, turning on the leaf blower and redirecting every last bubble from the trio. Marinette stared at his back and the muscles there and wished for this battle to just end so she could go home already. She didn’t care who won this round. She just wanted to get away from the danger bubbles!
One tiny bubble escaped Golden Bug’s notice and drifted over in front of Marinette. The Bubbler’s face appeared on it, and she jumped.
“Dude,” the Bubbler said in a complaining tone, “Why are you just standing there? Hawk Moth told me you’re on our side!”
As one, Golden Bug and Chat Grise turned around and stared at Bluewing.
A bead of sweat rolled down her forehead.
“Uhhh,” she said intelligently as she pulled out her fan and half-heartedly fanned the bubble with Nino’s distorted face on it a few millimeters away.
“Dude, are you trying to hide it? Uncool. Totally uncool.”
“I-I, Hawk Moth said I didn’t have to fight this time,” Bluewing protested, throwing her hands in the air.
Chat Grise gritted her teeth and looked away.
“I have to agree with you, Bubbler,” Golden Bug said, his face showing an unexpected level of hurt and betrayal for someone she’d supposedly just met. “This is totally uncool. Why would you pretend to be on our side? Just to get the upper hand?”
“Maybe she’s afraid to fight us,” Chat Grise hissed. “I wouldn’t blame her.”
While the Bubbler started babbling on about loyalty and presents for rich, repressed teen boys, Chat Grise tossed her baton towards his bubble wand, knocking it out of his hand. She grabbed it before the akuma could and threw it over to Golden Bug, who caught it without looking and broke it while he was still looking at Bluewing, waiting for her answer.
Well, it didn’t seem like there was any way for her to get out of this confrontation.
Just then, Golden Bug’s earrings started beeping, and he distractedly touched one of them while he caught and purified the akuma with the other hand.
“Bubbler was right,” Bluewing said quietly. “I am on Hawk Moth’s side. But I didn’t lie earlier. I don’t want to fight you. But next time I see you, we will be getting physical!”
Golden Bug raised one eyebrow. Marinette went over her words in her head and slowly turned a shade of red previously unknown to humankind.
“How forward of you,” Golden Bug said drily. “I hope that day will never come. Look, do the right thing, Bluewing! Hawk Moth is a cold-hearted villain. I hope you realize that, and leave him.”
With that, he and Chat Grise took off, leaving the scene before Nino finished piecing together what had happened.
“Was I akumatized?” he asked, looking up blearily at Marinette through tilted glasses.
She bent down and straightened them for him.
“You were,” she said. “But Golden Bug and Chat Grise won again.”
And M. Agreste is probably furious with me.
Marinette sighed and turned to go, ignoring Nino’s confused questions as she started the long walk home. Or the short run. Or however long it would be by rooftop.
She kind of wished she had a yo-yo or a baton right now.
Halfway to the mansion, she traded the streets for the rooftops. There were too many people staring at her; they clutched their purses or their children and looked at her in fear.
Alya must have caught the end of the fight and posted it on her blog.
Up on top of the roofs, there weren’t any more people to stare at and judge Marinette for her choice of who to back. (It was the right choice! They just didn’t know the facts, like she did!)
Bluewing sighed and rolled her neck and shoulders back, stretching out the taut muscles there. Then she glanced around the rooftop, just in case someone had seen where she went and climbed up to confront her.
There wasn’t anyone there.
But on the other side of the street, larger than life and staring straight at her, was a jumbo-sized billboard of Adrien.
It was just an ad for Gabriel’s winter collection. But it felt like something more than that to Marinette.
You let me down, Adrien seemed to say to her with his eyes. You pretended to be friends with the heroes. You could’ve taken their Miraculous while you were in the bubble with them, but you didn’t even try to fight! Don’t you care about the mission? Don’t you care about me ?
Marinette forced herself to turn away from the billboard. It wasn’t her fault she hadn’t fought today! She wasn’t ready! M. Agreste was supposed to teach her first!
But Adrien’s eyes seemed to follow her as she leapt away to the next rooftop.
The rest of the trip back to the mansion seemed to take forever.
Nathalie was waiting for her when she got back.
Arms crossed, she stood at the side door, tapping her heel on the floor beside the rumpled rug and frowning. M. Agreste stood beside her, looking surprised, cross, and just as pouty as the Bubbler had been.
“Marinette, I presume. There’s no need to deny it; your absence at the start of afternoon lessons just as a new ‘hero’ appeared clued me in, and the security tapes told me the rest.”
“Ms. Sancoeur, I—”
“There’s no need to apologize. I know who the mastermind around here is,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she turned to face the problem. “Gabriel, how could you put her in so much danger? You know she’s just a teenager, like your son! How can you expect to have her take over the company one day if she’s dying from the Peacock’s poison? For once, ask me about your harebrained plans before putting them into action!”
M. Agreste frowned and tugged at his ascot. “She isn’t going to die, Nathalie. She’s already taking the medicine for the poison.”
Nathalie stared at him like he was an idiot. “The medicine which couldn’t save your wife? All it does is lessen the symptoms! It isn’t a cure, not by any stretch of the imagination! This ends today. Take off the brooch,” she ordered Marinette.
“Wait,” M. Agreste said, grabbing Marinette’s hand as she reached up to unpin the Miraculous. “Wait. We know there is a cure, Nathalie. We have the grimoire; we can decode it and put together a solution. In the meantime, the medicine will work to keep the worst effects at bay. Honestly, Nathalie, try to have some faith in me!”
Marinette blinked. “There’s a grimoire?”
Nathalie’s lips tightened. “The grimoire of the Miraculous is also in the safe you discovered. But it’s written in a long-dead, ancient language, and in code, on top of that. You should not count on it to solve your problems.”
“And you shouldn’t blame M. Agreste for my putting on the brooch! What happened today was my idea. Mostly.”
“M. Agreste, is that true?” Nathalie asked him with an accusing glare.
“As true as my love for Emilie,” he replied smoothly.
Nathalie adjusted her glasses. “Right. Well, this solves everything. No doubt we will have Golden Bug and Chat Grise’s Miraculous in no time, now that we have the help of yet another untrained teenager! You had better train her well before you send her out again, Gabriel. And you,” she said, turning on Marinette, “Be careful. Be far more careful than you think you need to be. Just because you are on the right side does not mean you are guaranteed success, or that you will even survive. If you need someone else to take over for you, to become the Peacock in your place, let me know. I won’t let it be said that any of those in my care died because I didn’t act to save them.”
M. Agreste laughed. “I’m sure that won’t be necessary, Nathalie, although I thank you for the offer,” he said, clapping her on the back. “Now, why don’t we all head inside and let Marinette — or Bluewing, I suppose it is now — detransform and relax. She deserves a reward for her bravery today, no?”
Marinette hesitated. “Are you sure, sir? I didn’t even do anything. I was too afraid,” she admitted shamefully.
“Oh, I don’t blame you,” M. Agreste said cheerfully. “It was my fault, anyway. I should have given you some basic lessons first before sending you out in the field. I won’t make the same mistake again. Now, what would you like to do to celebrate?”
Marinette looked at Ms. Sancoeur, but she only sighed and shrugged in a way that suggested she went along with M. Agreste’s suggestion.
“Well,” she said thoughtfully, “I think Adrien has fencing after school today, right?”
“It’s his first match of the year, actually,” Nathalie informed her.
“Right! And Nino was upset because his birthday had already passed, but he didn’t know about it. And now that I think about it, I found out about it too late to give him a gift; I only told him happy birthday and that was it. What if we go cheer him on? I want to make sure he knows we care about him. I’m doing this for him, after all, and I can’t tell him about that, but I can show my support in other ways, and I know he’d be so happy to see you there! What do you think?”
Gabriel looked a bit surprised, and he checked his watch with a small frown. “That will take longer than I had planned on,” he began, but Ms. Sancoeur shot him a glare and he quailed. “Good idea. I will let the chauffeur know to have the car ready for us.”
“Perfect. In the time between now and then, you and I can finally start on your afternoon lessons, Marinette,” Nathalie said. She kicked the rug into place as they walked inside, past the kitchen entrance and down the main hall.
“Oh, and before you do anything else,” Gabriel said, as if he’d just remembered something. “You should hand over your brooch to me. I will keep it in a safe place for you when you do not need it, since wearing it outside of transformations would bring the side effects to you sooner. There we are,” he said as she unpinned the brooch and dropped it into his waiting palm. “I will see both of you in an hour.”
Nathalie nodded. “Good. Now, come with me, Marinette. I’ve ordered some fresher medicine for you, and I think you should switch to taking it instead of the older pills from Emilie. Twice a day, now, or they won’t have a strong enough countereffect on the magic.”
“Yes, Ms. Sancoeur,” Marinette said. “I’ll do my best to help you remember.”
__*__*__*__*__
Adrien was a better fencer than Marinette had thought, though she didn’t know what she had expected.
He fought his opponents with a fierce, fiery energy, like he was mad that they would even dare to face him, although he was always kind to the ones he defeated, which was all of them so far.
“Such a good sportsman,” Gabriel remarked during one match when he wasn’t busy sketching a new design on the tablet he’d brought with him.
“He makes the best of them look like amateurs,” Marinette marveled. Would she ever be as good at fighting as he was? Maybe he should have gotten the Peacock, not her.
“That’s because he’s an Agreste,” Gabriel responded. “He can’t be anything but perfect.”
Nathalie sat forward, a pinched expression on her face.
“You care a lot about my son, don’t you?” Gabriel suddenly asked Marinette.
She tilted her head. “Yes? I thought you knew that already.”
Gabriel laughed. A few people glanced in their direction, including one person with a camera who might have been paparazzi, but he shot a glare back at them and they turned their attention away.
“Of course, I know that. But what I mean is... you care for him. You love him, no?”
“Like a brother,” Marinette responded immediately. She smiled and cheered as Adrien scored another point against a fighter in blue and white.
“Like a— what?” Gabriel was staring at her like she’d grown two heads.
She blushed. “Oh! Sorry, I don’t mean to assume we’re that close to each other. But he means a lot to me,” she said in a carefree manner. “I hope we’ll stay as friends forever.”
“Yes, yes — very good friends,” Gabriel said, sounding a little strangled. He loosened his ascot around his throat. It was probably too tight for him.
He touched the brooch under it lightly, quickly, so as to be discreet.
Marinette raised her eyebrows and turned her attention back to the match. At her left, Nathalie was looking at her with a half-surprised, half-amused expression.
“You were right, Gabriel,” she said, speaking around Marinette’s back, “They’re quite the pair; I think they’ll be friends forever. Another plan of yours going just swimmingly well!”
“Hmph.”
Gabriel sat back on the bleachers, clearly upset, but about what, Marinette didn’t know. She was too busy cheering on her best friend to waste time thinking about it.
After the match finally ended, Adrien was announced as the overall winner, and went up to receive his gold medal. Marinette cheered louder than anyone in the stadium, and he smiled and blushed when he saw her in the audience. He raised the medal a little higher and stood a little straighter when he saw who was standing beside her, looking suitably impressed.
Then he winked and pressed a kiss to the gold medal. Nathalie facepalmed, but Marinette laughed. Who knew Adrien could be so funny and carefree? She was happier than ever that she’d convinced Gabriel to let him go to public school and come see this match. It was clearly doing wonders for her friend.
“Congratulations, Adrien!” she cheered when she finally got to see him after the ceremony, when he’d changed back into his usual clothes. He grinned when he saw her, and she pulled him into a hug without thinking. “You were great! I didn’t know you were so good at fencing!”
“Thanks, Marinette! I’m glad you liked the show,” he said, pulling back from the hug with a light blush on his cheeks. “And thank you for convincing my father and Nathalie to come, too! I don’t know how you did it,” he marveled.
Marinette smiled. “I think the Bubbler reminded us all that we should do more to show you how much we care about you. You’re one of the most important people in my life, Adrien! I don’t want you to forget it.”
Adrien blushed deeper as Gabriel and Nathalie caught up to Marinette. They both looked a bit out of breath, bent over and nearly panting.
“Congratulations, Adrien. Your hard work has been paying off,” Nathalie said once she’d straightened up. She discreetly bumped Gabriel with her elbow.
“Ah, I mean, yes! You acted like a true Agreste out there. Keep it up,” he said stiffly.
“He always does his best, doesn’t he? Don’t you think we should maybe, I don’t know, let him pick something as a prize for all his hard work?” Marinette asked, slinging her arm around Adrien’s back and pulling him close. What could she say, she was feeling daring today, and she was determined to make sure Adrien knew he was loved! Nino had had a point, after all.
“I don’t know, I mean,” M. Agreste said as Nathalie elbowed him again, “Perhaps. What would you like, Adrien?”
Adrien smiled down at Marinette, wrapping his arm around her in return. “I’d like some more free time to see Marinette, actually. I was talking to M. Dupain this morning, and he said he’d be willing to provide breakfast for both of us at his place if I get there a little earlier! And it would all be diet-appropriate, nothing too— uh, nothing unhealthy. If that’s alright with you, Marinette,” he said, looking into her eyes for approval.
She smiled broadly. “I think that sounds great! I might have to wake up a little sooner than usual, though.”
M. Agreste looked flabbergasted. “Are you sure? That’s what you want, breakfast with Marinette every day?”
Adrien’s grip tightened on her waist. “M-hm,” he said, still looking into her eyes with a fond smile.
“I think we can arrange for that to happen,” Ms. Sancoeur said brusquely, tapping on her tablet. “Don’t you, M. Agreste?”
“I suppose,” he said, looking closely at Marinette and Adrien. “That might work nicely. It could be just what we need, yes, let M. Dupain know that we’ll accept his offer!”
“Gladly.” Nathalie typed something on her tablet as the Gorilla pulled up by the sidewalk outside to pick them up in the limousine.
Gabriel and Nathalie both took their own row, while Adrien sat next to Marinette in the back.
“So, did you see the news today?” he asked in a whisper, his eyes gleaming despite the darkness of the car.
Marinette shifted uncomfortably. “Depends on which news you mean,” she whispered back.
He didn’t know who Bluewing was fighting for, and he wasn't happy with her appearance. That was okay. She was protecting him, and it made sense for him to assume that she was a bad guy without the information he needed, that she was protecting him from.
“The akuma. I can’t believe Hawk Moth picked up an ally!” His voice was strained. “I mean, who would pick his side? It’s obvious who the villain is! We were all so hopeful when we first saw Bluewing. She was so nice! And she turned out to be just another brainwashed sidekick! I can’t believe it,” he said, hurt lingering in every word.
Marinette took a ragged breath. “Well, maybe she’ll turn out to be a nice person, after all,” she suggested.
Adrien scoffed. “Maybe. If she turns on Hawk Moth and fights the real villain instead, but that seems unlikely to me. But hey, she was flirting with Golden Bug, right? Maybe his good looks will convince her to join the right side of the battle,” he said sarcastically.
He was joking, but Marinette’s cheeks turned red, and she looked away before he could notice. She would never leave Gabriel’s side just because a boy looked pretty! Even if she did think his butt looked cute, she would never betray Adrien like that, no matter how hot and funny and charming her enemy was!
The silence became uncomfortable.
Marinette broke it. “Yeah, you could be right.”
Outside, the wind tugged a flag to and fro on its pole. She watched it for a moment, then leaned her head against the car window and closed her eyes.
“I think she has a crush on him.” She whispered it like a rancid secret, a rotten apple slowing poisoning the rest of her mind.
She felt more miserable now than she could remember ever being before. The Peacock’s broken magic had nothing on the raw guilt and shame consuming her, eating away the last bit of happiness she’d felt watching Adrien fence.
She had a crush on Golden Bug! On her enemy, who was a direct threat to the boy she’d promised to protect!
What kind of a hero was she?

Following this amazing post:
FML TUMBLR DELETED MY LONG POST TIME TO TYPE AGAIN
@ghostlyhamburger My friend you're awesome, beautiful, talented, smart- thanks for the tag!! Also: I'm so In LOVE with this AU!!
Chloe as Gaston absolutely fucks, who else would sing an entire song about themselves and how great they are (No one _ like Chloe fits to a "T")
Instead of Theo being Gaston, he's one of the trio of men who fawn over and worship Chloe (like those three women in the primary colors fawning over Gaston)
Lefou is definitely Sabrina, what I also think fits this really well is the small, few moments where Lefou feels remorse for Gaston's actions that hurt Belle but he still remains loyal to Gaston
Marinette will wreck half the castle bc who the fuck has ugly antique furniture who can talk as roommates. Chip (maybe the blue haired boy from Sandboy) slowly befriends her after he sees Marinette show remorse for accidentally killing his mom "She was a beautiful teapot." "Yes she was."
Lumiere being Alya slaps, Cogsworth is either Nino or Alix/ Bunnyx (get it? Time, clock?)
If Nino isn't Cogsworth then he is definitely the Featherduster who dramatically and gracefully dances with Alya, she accidentally burns off some of his feathers and he wears his signature cap from the show to hide how bald he became. At least he still has feathers to dust furniture with.
The wardrobe is either Juleka or Rose OR BOTH: listen, they dress Marinette in the most beautiful dresses and gowns, in colors of pink, purple and black bc it fits with her colors
Just bc Marinette is a XXL sized bug doesn't mean she doesn't rock skirts and ballroom gowns Marinette designed and had sewn some of her clothes herself, turns out her little stick arms are perfect for precision work
The first time Adrien sees Marinette she has her back to him and he think she's some lost princess or kidnapped by the beast of the castle, she wears a cowl so he can't see her features. When Marinette dramatically turns around and all he sees is a 6ft bug with twitching antennas and huge blue eyes Adrien screams the damsel in distress scream and faints
Marinette may not have the ferocious roar of the Beast, but her twitching antennas and wiggling ladybug wings definitely look menacing to Adrien behind bars when she throws him in the cell
Marinette would've been more than happy to burn Gabriel alive but Adrien has too good a heart and offers himself in his father's stead. It doesn't surprise Marinette when no answer came from Gabriel, no gold to be paid for Adrien's freedom or a mob sent to kill her. Marinette lies when Adrien asks if she heard news of his father, she willingly paints herself the villain. It's easier to see the contempt for her in his green eyes than the devastating sadness if he heard his father didn't care at all.
Marinette will absolutely eat Gabriel alive, she may not be a man eating bug but damn it if she won't force her diet to change if it means getting the man away from Adrien
In a surprising twist of events, wolves are absolutely terrified of a 6ft tall ladybug with bustling wings who bears her twitchy antennas ferociously at them
The first time Adrien and Marinette grow closer was when he complimented her wings and how beautiful they looked and how soulful her big eyes were (Marinette wasn't used to hearing this, after all who would call a bug beautiful by any means? She wasn't beautiful like the butterflies visiting her blooming garden)
Marinette is pleasantly surprised to learn Adrien can cook, how can a human be so handsome and pretty and cook so well? The residents of the castle didn't starve for the first time since 100 years
Chloe's first offense against Marinette was her calling Adrien's new attire hideous (Marinette designed that herself), her second one was calling Marinette's roommates lifeless, ugly furniture, nobody called her roommates ugly except Marinette!
Marinette @ Chloe:"They have more life in them than you ever will, despite sucking the souls out of whoever you kiss." Chloe:" :0" (insert shocked pikachu face)
After turning human Marinette still has the antennas on top of her head and Adrien finds them adorable. Marinette is glad she still has them bc she would feel incomplete without that part of her (the Bug Life is the Thug Life)

Fly Away Episode 9: Gorizilla
Ao3
(Féline Sombre & Paon Lilas designs)
Summery: An AU where Adrien never went to in-person school, not getting the cat miraculous, and found the peacock miraculous. -Adrien attempts to get one of the key ingredients to fix the peacock miraculous without clueing anyone into what he might need them for. A trip to the Zoo is in order. (Yes I’m writing this again lol)
(tw for sickness & I’mma say some self endangerment)
-
Adrien paced his room, frowning, “Okay, okay, so, all I need is meteorite dust, molten gold, and a peacock feather. Totally normal items for me to ask for and not at all suspicious.”
“Yeah!” Duusu chirped, too enthusiastic, "Not suspicious at all!"
"That was sarcasm."
"I knew that!" Duusu exclaimed cheerfully.
Adrien laughed, nodding. "Okay, maybe I can just… pull some connections. Father has jewelers, I'm sure I can pop into one of those…. If I visit a zoo I'm sure I could find a peacock feather… and… meteor ….dust...is. uh. Something I'll figure out!" Adrien tilted his head, "Zoo first. That's the easiest."
"Whoooho! Let's go!"
-
"No," Natalie said, not even glancing at him.
"What? It's the zoo! What could possibly happen to me at the zoo?"
"Adrien, your illness got worse after your excursion yesterday. You want to add an allergic reaction to it as well?"
"That…. Is very clear logic." Adrien sighed, gritting his teeth.
Natalie looked up with a frown, "Besides, you should be on bed rest, I don't want you passing out again."
"It was a long photoshoot! I was just tired! I'm fine right now!"
She shook her head, standing up to escort Adrien to his room, a gentle hand on his back. "Come on, back to bed. Is there something else we can do to ease your boredom? A book? ...Miss Chloé might like to visit."
"No…" Adrien sighed, eyes settling on the floor. "I've got everything I could need."
-
"Hey it's Adrien, wanna go to the zoo with me?"
Marinette blanched, glancing at her phone to check the number, "Adrien whose phone are you calling me on?"
"Public phone!"
"Where's your phone?"
"I have it, don't worry. I just can't use it. My cell is monitored," Marinette gave Tiki a concerned glance. Adrien continued over the line, apparently unconcerned, "Anyway, will you go to the Zoo with me? We can try and get some ice cream on the way back?"
"Oh! Uh. Sure! When are you thinking?"
"...As soon as you can, preferably. I put a cardboard cut-out of myself in my bed but I'm not sure how effective it will be."
Marinette frowned, "Adrien, did you sneak out...to go to the zoo?"
"Uh," Adrien was quiet for a long moment. He whispered something, before nervously saying, "Yes?" Distantly, she could hear someone shout "Is that Adrien Agreste?" He laughed nervously "Sorry I think I have to run. I'll wait for you! Bye!"
Marinette sighed, glancing at Tiki. "Something is wrong with that boy."
Tiki gave a slight inclination of her head that might've been an agreement. Marinette shook her head and got up, "I guess a trip to the Zoo would be a good break. Come on Tiki, I've got to go tell mama and papa, unlike some boys."
-
Marinette glanced around the entrance of the Zoo, confused. Adrien wasn't there. She huffed. If this was some elaborate long con with him and Chloé-
"Psst. Marinette," a bush whispered.
She yelped, flailing. "Talking Bush!" She pointed her purse at it like a weapon. "I don't need magic powers, thank you!"
The bush rustled and Adrien rose from underneath it. He brushed himself off, a twig sticking out of his otherwise perfect hair. His face was a splotchy red, flushed. He looked… weirdly normal. Like a kid, not a rich model.
"Sorry," he said, "I've been getting chased around by fans and I think a few journalists. I uh…" He muttered, "Usually my bodyguard stops them from getting too close."
"Huh? Oh. You snuck out, right. What's got everyone so crazy about you?"
He laughed nervously, "I wouldn't say everyone! I'm crazy about yoooh-oh I mean you're not crazy about me! Not that I'm not crazy about you- I mean- whaaat?" he cringed. He hung his head, heaving a sigh that almost crackled with the breath, "I've had a long day."
Marinette frowned, walking forward to place a hand against his back. He straightened up; practically perfect posture. His face burned red. Marinette blinked and fumbled backward, raising her hands as if in surrender. "Oh! Sorry. I just- your breathing-"
"Huh?" He muttered airily. Almost breathlessly.
"Are you okay? You seem to be breathing weird."
He blinked and nodded, "No no I'm fine. I passed out during a photoshoot yesterday but I'm fine now!"
"What!? And you're at the Zoo running everywhere?"
He deflated, heaving a sigh.
Marinette huffed, "No wonder you look so flushed, come on, sit down. I'll call my parents-"
"No!" He looked panicked, just for a moment. Marinette frowned. He winced as he looked at her face, "Sorry I just- I really needed to get out of the house."
She sighed, and grabbed his hand to drag him to a bench, "You need to take care of yourself."
"I found him!" Someone shouted, snapping a photo, "With his girlfriend!" A crowd of chaos started to form.
"Ga-wha?! I'm not his earl-friend! Deli that! Delete!" Marinette sputtered.
Adrien grimaced and pulled her along as he raced off in a random direction, desperate for a new hiding spot. He gasped as he spotted a walk-in habitat and rushed in.
The caretaker asked something that Adrien assumed was some sort of money thing and pulled out the first bill that came out of his wallet. The zookeeper looked bug-eyed at the cash. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah sure, certain, please," Adrien said, glancing back through the window to check if his fans noticed them turn into the exhibit.
"Okayyy," the zookeeper whispered and handed them an abundance of seed sticks. "Enjoy the exhibit."
Adrien pulled Marinette in and finally had a moment of pause. He glanced at the sticks, then at the exhibit in front of them…. The aviary.
He sneezed.
"Bless you," Marinette whispered. Adrien groaned, rubbing his face. Marinette hummed and walked further in, holding out a stick for a parakeet to land on and start pecking at. Adrien glanced around. Peacock, peacock, were there any peacocks in here? He sneezed again, startling a few birds that had gathered around him. Marinette gave him an odd look.
"So. Why the Zoo?" She muttered, "Not that anybody needs a reason to go to the zoo, I just- you seem really really invested here."
"I...uh- uh achoo!" He sniffed and rubbed his eyes. "Uh. I like...birds."
Marinette giggled, "What a coincidence then. Any particular kind?"
"Peacock?" he gasped, glancing out the window to the bird strutting freely outside.
Marinette lifted her head, glancing at him, "Really?"
He sneezed again, groaning.
"Are you okay?"
He pinched the bridge of his nose and held the seed stick some of the birds had landed on as far as he could. He nodded. "Yeah fine." He muttered nasally.
"Are you crying?" She whispered, glancing at his red, watery eyes.
"No, it's allergies."
"Oh! What are you allergic to?"
He sighed, bowing his head in shame, "...Feathers."
Marinette glanced at him "What? Oh my goodness, Adrien!"
He sneezed, throwing himself into a coughing fit. He dropped his seed stick and the parrot flew away.
Marinette sighed, and pulled him up by his collar. "No matter how much you like birds I'm not going to let you suffer for it." Marinette huffed, dragging him by his collar to the exit. He sneezed again.
He wheezed as Marinette finally released him into the outdoors, practically pushing him out. He stumbled forward and knelt on the ground.
"Honestly! What were you thinking?" She pulled him up, brushing off his clothes and hair, and dragging him towards a bench. He sighed, miserable, and propped his head in his hands.
"I wasn't," he muttered.
Marinette frowned, sighing.  She rubbed his back. "Sorry. Are you okay? Do you need anything? Allergy medication?"
"I don't have any. I'm not usually allowed anywhere with feathers." He sighed, "Look I-" Adrien's eyes landed on a familiar hulking figure. He gasped. "Time to go."
"Huh? But none of your fans are-" Marinette gasped as Adrien pulled her along, racing along the pathway.
"Bodyguard," Adrien explained, stumbling slightly as he raced up the path.
"But won't he help with the fans?!"
"Yeah, by taking me home!" Adrien turned a corner, frantically looking around. Someone shouted his name. Marinette frowned and pulled him away, into a bush. Once hidden, she fluffed up his hair, and took off her jacket.
She tied it around his waist and got out a pair of novelty glasses. She handed them to him.
He tilted his head, "Why do you have these?"
"You'll look like a tourist, just go with it."
He shrugged and put them on. "You sure this will work?"
"Honestly I could've stopped at the hairstyle you look like a completely different person with messy hair."
He laughed. "Uh… thanks?"
She sighed and pulled him up to his feet. "How about we take a very slow stroll and then take you back home. Okay?"
He looked at the ground. "…Sorry I dragged you into this."
She smiled and shook her head, "It's been fun."
He nodded, and they fumbled their way out of the bushes. Adrien cheerfully pointed out a variety of animals as they walked through the zoo, unharassed.
Marinette chased a peacock away from them, much to Adrien's disappointment.
He bought them ice cream, much to Marinette's elation.
"So I'm guessing everyone is looking for you because of the passing-out episode?" Marinette said between bites of ice cream.
"Oh! No uh. Adrien the Fragrance came out early. Since I can't do enough photoshoots, my father is pulling from the projects that were waiting for release..." He nervously picked at his ice cream, frowning.
"I think I saw that this morning… Feathers huh?"
Adrien laughed, "Photoshopped."
"I hear models are often photoshopped a lot."
"The Adrien Agreste Trademark Brand is all naturally sourced," Adrien struck a pose and winked, earning a laugh from Marinette.
"Made out of the finest fake feathers." She giggled. It was an absolutely wonderful sound. He was determined to hear more of it. She caught his gaze and tilted her head, turning to look to her left in an attempt to follow the line of sight. "What are you looking at?"
Adrien flushed and nearly said 'you' if not for her insistence earlier that they were Not Dating coming to his mind. "Uh… looking for a peacock…"
Marinette made a strange face and smiled awkwardly, "Why do you like peacocks so much?"
He laughed, rubbing the back of his head, "Do I need a reason? They uh, they're pretty? And they can fly and a lot of them roam free in zoos which is cool. They're fun."
She nodded and shrugged, "I suppose they have their charm. They seem like nice creatures. If dramatic."
He hummed. It was quiet for a moment. What do normal people talk about at a zoo? "Uh, do you have a favorite animal?" Ugh, that's a lame question.
"I'm obsessed with hamsters."
"Oh, they're adorable!"
"I really want one, someday! I'm going to name h- oh bodyguard."
"Bodyguard is a weird name for a hamst-" Adrien yelped as Marinette grabbed his arm as his bodyguard ran towards them. The pair ran. The man got close enough to grab the jacket tied around his waist. Adrien fumbled and the knot came loose. The bodyguard was left holding a jacket while Adrien and Marinette raced off down another path.
They panted as they escaped into the Polar exhibit, and Adrien was happy to see a layer of glass between him and the penguins as he wheezed his breaths.
"Are you okay? Sorry I didn't give you much warning."
He waved her concerns away and coughed into his elbow. "Ugh my legs feel like jello," he muttered, sliding onto the floor against the wall, watching the penguins mill about.
Marinette sat next to him. He closed his eyes, head in his hands, elbows propped on his knees. "Maybe I should've stayed home…"
She sighed and leaned against him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "I can call my parents and we can play some video games. All the excitement, none of the running."
"You…still want to hang out?"
"Like I said earlier. It's been fun, I just wish you were being safe." She poked him in the side, and he wheezed a laugh.
"… I just- I wanted-" He frowned. He couldn't exactly say he needed to get a peacock feather now could he?
Marinette hummed, apparently understanding him anyway. She squeezed his shoulder. "I'm sorry. I know."
A roar erupted in the distance.
Marinette looked up "Akuma?" She glanced anxiously at Adrien and scrambled up to a stand. "UH let's find somewhere to hide."
Adrien yelped as she pulled him along.
She raced around a corner and jumped fences and weaved through crowds. She held his hand the entire time.
Thundering footsteps came closer and closer until a massive hand scooped them up. They screamed. Adrien clamped a hand over his breast pocket to protect the kwami. Marinette struggled and kicked as the hand curled around them both.
Adrien glanced up at Gorizilla, wide-eyed. "Are you… my bodyguard?"
Gorizilla humphed in response, taking them further and further away from the zoo.... Adrien watched the building shrink with a distinct sense that he would never be able to go back again. Dread welled up in him and he pushed it down.
He glanced at Marinette, pressed against him. Oh wow, they're close. His face went red. "Marinette, I'm so sorry-"
"It'll be fine! We'll get out of this." She insisted, determined.
"I- It's all my fault you're in this with me. I didn't-"
Marinette huffed, looking around her surroundings analytically, "Don't try to shift this all on yourself. Féline Sombre will find us and Ladybug will fix everything. Just. It's going to be okay." She nervously chewed her lip despite the determined look in her eyes.
He frowned and nodded "Okay."
Gorizilla leaped up onto a skyscraper and roared. Loud enough that the superheroes would have to hear.
A quiet beat. Silence stretched. Ladybug usually showed herself by now.
Without warning, Féline Sombre appeared from the shadows. Her baton poised above her head to smack Gorizilla in the head. He roared and swiped a hand at them. Féline laughed as they backflipped out of the way, extending the baton to catch herself.
"Are you supposed to be King Kong? All we need is a Helicopter!" She said, switching to walking across the top of a billboard, extending the baton to poke at the hand keeping Marinette and Adrien. It didn't budge.
"Feline!" Marinette shouted, "He's too strong! You'll need more bark than bite!"
Adrien tilted his head, confused. Feline, however, grinned.
Gorizilla snarled and broke the billboard from under her. The hero flipped so she was on top of the flat of the board.
"Cat got your tongue?" Féline chirped and they leaped up to stand on the akuma's head.
Gorizilla growled and swatted at them, only to smack himself as they jumped off and onto his arm.
She ran to Adrien and Marinette. "Alright guys, I'll get you out." She wiggled her baton between Marinette and Gorizilla's thumb, extending it to give herself more leverage.
A large hand scooped them up and captured them. "AUGH! Hey!"
Marinette looked frantic. "Féline!"
Adrien sucked in a breath, glaring at the skyline, "Where is Ladybug?!"
Féline Sombre grimaced, "She has to be on her way"
Hawkmoth's glowing light mask appeared on Gorizilla's face. "Get the cat's ring while you still can!" Hawkmoth demanded, "Ladybug will arrive soon enough."
Gorizilla humphed, thumping his fists together. Adrien waved at Feline with a nervous smile as they got brought closer. Féline struggled, ignoring the trapped pair for the moment.
Gorizilla leaned forward to scrutinize what he was doing, frowning. He did not have enough hands for this... And that ring was tiny.
Marinette looked between Féline and their baton. "Stick a fork in him!"
"What?!" She stared at Marinette for a moment, then looked up at Gorizilla. "Oh!" She extended her baton to poke him in the eye.
He dropped Marinette and Adrien with a pained cry.
Adrien struggled to keep a hold of Marinette's hand as they fell. The wind whipped around them. Adrien could feel Marinette's racing pulse against his hands around her wrist
Féline Sombre screamed, "LADYBUG?!"
Adrien looked around frantically, between Marinette and the captured Féline, "I- I… I need to tell you something!"
Marinette looked at him like he was insane. "Can it wait?!" She shrieked. She managed to grab his waist, pulling them closer.
"Du-" He was cut off by his own sharp yelp as Féline Sombre managed to stop their descent, grabbing the back of Marinette's shirt. She hung off of her baton.
"Gottcha," She breathed out softly.
"He let you go?" Marinette gasped, looking at Gorizilla on the tower.
Féline shrugged helplessly, "Hang on tight-" she pulled the pair up and closer to her, and leaped off her baton so she could make her escape down to the ground.
Adrien groaned. He heaved his breaths while he looked up at Gorizilla, half blindly fumbling down the skyscraper. "I can act as bait. He's after me. I'm sure we can figure out how to trap him for Ladybug."
"Adrien no that's-" Marinette gasped
"I'll be fine. Féline won't let me get hurt." He smiled at the cat hero, then looked at Marinette, "Go. It's my turn to protect you."
Marinette frowned, "Don't you dare do anything stupid like trying to fight him yourself."
"I won't," He said with a smile. Marinette huffed, then ran off to hide.
Féline looked up at the approaching figure and then at Adrien. "...Think you can get him to the river?"
Adrien grimaced as he glanced in the direction of the river, pressing a hand against his chest. "Maybe…"
"Lucky charm!" Ladybug yelled as she almost skidded to a halt in front of them. In a flash of light, a perfume bottle fell into her hands.
"Ladybug!" Féline cheered, "He's after Adrien and we need a plan."
Adrien frowned.
Ladybug nodded, "I've got it. Adrien, guide him over the subway. Kitty, destroy the street under him."  Ladybug tested the perfume on her wrist and sniffed, tilting her head "Adrien?"
He huffed and straightened up, "Yes?"
"No I mean- the smell… it smells like you?"
Adrien groaned, "Wonderful, magic can copy Adrien The Fragrance."
Ladybug tilted her head. "I'll …figure it out. Time to get into action, he's almost here."
Adrien sighed, "Then I'll need a head start." He took in a deep breath and ran off. Féline took off after.
Gorizilla thundered close behind. Féline called "Cataclysm!" And destroyed part of the road just as Gorizilla nearly reached Adrien, falling through the gap. He growled and thrashed. Ladybug hopped over, looking for what the akumatized object could be. "Where would it be?"
Gorizilla roared and pounded his fists against the street, causing more of it to crumble. He ducked under the street. Ladybug gasped and lassoed Adrien with the yoyo, closer to herself.
The street erupted as Gorizilla's hand came out to swipe out where Adrien had been.
"Get off me" Adrien nearly hissed at Ladybug, detangling himself.
She took a step back, looking confused. She shook her head and refocused. "...He can smell you." She looked at the perfume. "AH HA! Féline, we're going fishing, grab your pole."
Ladybug grabbed Adrien by the waist and brought him up to a rooftop.
Féline held her baton out and after a moment, Gorizilla emerged from underground to try and climb out. Ladybug leaped down, emptying the perfume bottle on Gorizilla's face. He groaned and clamped his hands over his face, stumbling backward. Féline Sombre tripped him and the massive Gorilla fell to the ground with a rumbling thunk.
Ladybug searched his pockets, taking out Marinette's jacket. She tore the fabric and the purple butterfly fluttered out.
Adrien sighed and watched Ladybug purify the butterfly. He closed his eyes, lethargic. The heroes high-fived, clapping their hands together.
Féline Sombre came up to get him. "I have to go, but do you want me to take you home?"
"No," he muttered. "...my bodyguard is right here."
Féline nodded, "Okay. Good luck." She gingerly placed Adrien down and winked. Then vaulted away.
He stood there, for a moment, looking at the ground while Ladybug talked to his bodyguard. Her low tones didn't reach his ears, but he could've sworn she said Marinette's name. He raised an eyebrow, glancing up. She smiled at him, her earrings beeping, and ran off. Adrien sighed and walked over.
"I'm sorry for all the stress I must have put you through. I- I just missed my friend. I know it's no excuse- I…" He shuffled his feet, looking dutifully at the ground. "I'll try not to do it again."
A large hand clasped over his shoulder. He looked up as his bodyguard tugged the jacket over Adrien's shoulders and messed his hair up. He gaped "Why-"
His bodyguard grinned, putting a finger to his lips, and then walked off, miming searching.
Adrien grinned.
Marinette ran up to him with a wave. "You're alright!!"
He nodded, "Yeah. Yeah, I am… and I think I just got permission to stay out a little longer?"
Marinette smiled. "Sure. Let's go…" She watched him for a moment as they walked. "What were you going to tell me? When we were falling."
He stilled "...Uh…" He brushed a hand over his breast pocket. He glanced at her and shoved his hands into his pant pockets. "Just-" He shrugged, blushing, "I think you're my best friend."
Marinette looked at him wide-eyed for a moment. "Oh." She smiled. "I'm always glad to be there for you."
-
Adrien opened his eyes slowly. Bathed in the pink softness of Marinette's room. "I fell asleep," he croaked, voice rough, "...Sorry."
"It's fine, I think you needed it… it gave me time to make something, too."
He turned and looked at her. She was sitting at her desk, fiddling with something. "You uh. Said you liked peacocks, right?"
"...Kinda yeah."
"Well. I- found a feather on the ground when I chased that one earlier. I couldn't possibly give it to you as it was because you're allergic and that'd just be dumb- but…" She held out a charm bracelet, with a small peacock feather sealed in a clear locket, framed in gold.
He tapped the case, blinking a few times. Something wet trickled down his cheek and he rubbed his face. "Oh. This is… you made this… for me?"
She nodded "Do you like it?"
"I love it." He said softly, turning the object around in his hands. He felt breathless. Like everything slowed down. She was smiling at him. He stared at the feather secured away in the glass. Two beautiful pieces of glimmering hope. Right in front of him. "You're amazing." It came out soft.
She laughed and shrugged, and time resumed as normal. "It wasn't that hard, just had to find something it would fit in. It was more work to match the colors with the bracelet itself," She laughed again, almost nervous "...The greens go nicely with you, I think."
He smiled, and brought up the bracelet to his face, "It matches my eyes, doesn't it?" He hummed and nodded, looking back down at the object, "You're a truly wonderful designer. Really. I couldn't imagine anything better, and I live fashion."
Marinette flushed, "I-sh veb bah" She stuttered, groaned, and flopped back onto the floor "…Shut up."
He grinned and decided to give her the requested mercy, even if he really wanted to keep complimenting her. "Want to play those games we planned to do now?" he said instead.
She sat up immediately, gaze fierce and determined. An enthusiastic yes.
Later, he'll have to find something to replace the feather. But for now. His best friend Marinette just gave him the most precious thing in his possession.

BMFBMLBME Chapter 4
CW: Same as last time, mention of suicide/threat of suicide, This is basically the last two chapters but from Marinette's point of view if you aren't good with suicide the scroll past !@#$%% and start back up at !@#$%% summary of that scene is Marinette bargaining for Chloe and Kagami to live
Marinette woke with a start, gasping as water dripped down her face.
Blinking water out of her eyes, Marinette was able to spot both Kagami and Chloe chained to the wall beside her.
“Oh good! You’re all awake, now you can answer my questions!”
Marinette turns her attention to the overly cheerful woman crouching down in front of her.
“Now, I am sure you are a little confused but don’t worry. I will explain everything, my dears.”
The woman trailed her hand across Marinette’s cheek, moving it to grab her braid and pull it over her shoulder.
“Such lovely hair… Oh, right I am being so rude, not introducing myself. I am Talia Al Ghul, I am the one who hired those men to bring you here. They were only supposed to bring one of you though. They were so incompitent, unable to take the simplest orders. They had to die before they ruined my plans.”
The woman, Talia, moves over, starting to play with Kagami’s hair as what she said started to sink in.
Marinette clenches her jaw shut, willing herself not to say anything.
“Now, since I have told you my name and who I am, it is only fair that you tell me yours. Which one of you is Kagami Tsurugi?”
“I am.” What happened to keeping your mouth shut Marinette? That was a solid plan, why did you ruin it?
Kagami and Chloe both snap their heads around to look at Marinette.
Chloe looks like she can’t decide whether she wants to strangle Marinette or cry, Kagami is not much better.
“Ah, yes you will do wonderfully. So pretty too, I am sure he will be pleased with my choice.”
Talia moves back over to Marinette, petting her head gently before she backs away, walking towards a door and calling out over her shoulder.
“I will be back soon, Dear.”
All three girls watch as she disappears behind a door before Chloe and Kagami start angrily whisper-yelling at her.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?!” - Chloe
“Are you out of your mind?!” - Kagami
“I’m sorry I panicked!” - Marinette
Chloe and Kagami start talking over each other, Marinette isn’t sure what exactly they are saying from the overlap but she’s pretty sure it can be summarized by them calling her an idiot with no self preservation.
“We are telling her that I am Kagami, not you. She was after me so this is my problem.”
Marinette turns to glare at Kagami.
“No we are not. As of right now I am Kagami and you are Marinette.”
“No I am not.” - Kagami
“Yes you are.” - Marinette
“No.” - Kagami
“Yes.” - Marinette
“This is my problem.” - Kagami
“This is our problem.” - Marinette
“No it is not, she specifically said my name.” - Kagami
“Ohana, Bitch. Birds of a feather have to stick together.” - Marinette
“Don’t quote ‘Lilo & Stitch’ at me and we are not birds.” - Kagami
“We both have blue hair.” - Marinette
“Hair is not feathers.” - Kagami
“It's close enough.” - Marinette
“No it's not-.” - Kagami
“Shut up someones coming!” -Chloe
All three girls watch in tense silence as the door Talia went through opens only for a different man to step out.
He is playing on his phone before he looks up and makes eye contact with the girls.
“Oh hey, glad to see you three are awake. Hope you live, later.”
All three girls watch in very confused silence as he walks away, not lifting a finger to help him but not appearing to be malicious towards them?
“Well okay then…”
Kagami shushes Chloe as the door is opened again, this time Talia does walk through, along with a boy around their age being led by someone holding chains.
The boy is struggling to keep his feet under him as his guide jerks him around until they kick out his legs from under him and he lands with a grunt.
He looks up and Marinette can’t help but notice that he is also wet.
This may be a very shitty situation but she can appreciate the show of equality.
“Damian, I would like you to meet Kagami. She will be your wife.”
Marinette freezes. Wait what?
Marinette squints at Talia, trying to make sense of what the actual fuck is happening.
Marinette sees the boy out of the corner of her eye, looking between both Marinette and Talia before her words seem to register.
“Wait, wife?! What do you mean by she will be my wife?! I don’t remember agreeing to this!”
The boy, Damian she thinks, starts struggling, trying to either get away from Marinette or Talia, she isn’t sure which.
Marinette zones out, trying to come up with a plan as Damian(? Damian. She will call him Damian and hope she is right.) and Talia start talking.
So far, all Marinette knows is that this woman wants Damian to be married to Kagami who Marinette is pretending to be. That and there are way more people than there probably should be here and Talia has and probably will kill again.
Great.
Perfect.
Hey god, it's me, Marinette. You there? Could use a little help right about now.
Marinette tunes back in when Talia starts to turn back towards her, trying not to give away that she wasn’t paying attention.
“And how is she good enough for me exactly? I mean look at her, she’s so small and practically shaking just from a breeze!”
Damian bursts out, pulling Talia’s attention back to him and sending Marinette an apologetic look, she tries her best to show that she understands and appreciates his help.
Talia starts to explain herself but Marinette is not listening.
All Talia really needs is “Kagami” and Damian, what will happen to the actual Kagami and Chloe when she finishes whatever she is planning?
Marinette’s mind is already racing when Talia asks if anyone has any questions.
Uh yeah, why are you not in therapy you lunatic cupid wannabe?
Just don’t say anything, Marinette. We will be fine, just go along with it.
“I have one. What are you going to do with me and my friends after this?”
Oh, right. Marinette almost forgot, her brain-to-mouth filter decided to shut off today. Wonderful.
Talia tilts her head from side to side, deciding on what to say.
“Well, your friends will be of no use to me, they weren’t supposed to be here in the first place, so I will just have to kill them and be done with it. As for you and my son, you two will live here with me.”
!@#$%%
The threat against her friends sends Marinette’s heart into overdrive, adrenaline shoots through her veins and Marinette manages to break the rusted anchor keeping her locked onto the wall.
Swiping a knife from one of the people walking past Marinette holds it to her throat, all the while internally screaming that she was going to get herself killed.
“What do you think you are doing?”
Marinette squints at her, trying to keep the cold sweat from dripping off her forehead and stinging her eyes cause holy shit what was she doing?!
Marinette tries to hide the fact that her knees are shaking by standing as tall as she can, pulling all of her muscles taught.
“Let my friends go or I will kill myself.”
I’m sorry what?! What is wrong with me?! Maman’s right I really need to stop watching so many action movies with Papa, I’m going to get myself killed here!
“I’m not sure you are aware of your position here girl. You are in no position to be making demands of me.”
Talia glares at Marinette, trying to get her to break but at this point, Marinette is too scared to even think of, well anything really.
Okay, okay action movies, might as well roll with it. What do they usually do? Smile? Okay, yeah, sure, let's try that brain, not like this can get much worse, just casually holding myself hostage. No biggie.
Marinette tries her best to smirk at Talia but all that she can really manage is a wobbly smile while she tries not to cry.
“Oh I think I am-” She ignored Damian signaling her to stop, she was far too into this to stop now, she had to see it through or she would never live it down“-You need me alive after all.”
Talia’s glare sharpens, making Marinette start to shake as she chants “Please don’t call my bluff” over and over in her head.
Something warm trickles down the front of her shirt and Marinette realizes that she just cut herself because she was shaking so hard.
Trying to cover her blunder, Marinette starts speaking again.
“I am not playing with you. Let them go, unharmed, or I will kill myself and you will have to search for someone else to be your sons wife.”
!@#$%%
Marinette notices Damian wince before Talia starts to speak again.
“Fine.” She ground out.
“They will be returned to Paris, unharmed. In return you will not fight your future with my beloved son.”
Marinette drops the knife, mostly out of shock, before she is grabbed from behind, too shaky to try and fight back.
She barely hears Kagami and Chloe screaming for her past the sound of her own blood rushing in her ears.
“Your friends will be present for the wedding, before they are taken back home. You may call me many things, but I am not a complete monster, every bride should have her bridesmaids.”
Marinette looks to Talia just as she starts to dance, twirling about the room and humming to herself as Marinette and Damian are both forced to their feet, being dragged backwards in opposite directions.
Marinette manages to make eye contact with him before a door closes, separating the two of them.
She looks into his eyes just long enough for the sympathy in them to bring forth the tears she had desperately been trying to push down since she woke up.

ML Secret Santa Gift The Adventures of Kwami-Sitting
Authors Note
This takes place during season 4, set when Marinette and Adrien briefly knew who the other was. On the 100th episode.
To my secret Santa giftee Light-My-Star, and the ML Secret Santa Project. I’m very sorry this was late.
This is Chapter One, Please Enjoy.
And Happy Holidays! :)
_______________________________________________________________________
They revealed their identities to each other. Two weeks, three days, and eleven hours ago, and nothing’s gone wrong. Nothing.
           Ladybug is Marinette.
           He’s in heaven.
Every day he gets to see Ladybug in class, and every night it’s Marinette at patrol. She texts him good night and sends him pictures of whatever late night project she’s working on. He texts her awake in the morning so she doesn’t oversleep.
He doesn’t want to miss a minute of her at school.
Sometimes it’s hard to even settle down enough to sleep, he’s too excited to see her again the next morning. Nathalie’s caught him yawning once or twice during shoots, but since his father hasn’t said anything yet she must’ve neglected to tell him. Adrien lets a warm feeling settle in over his skin and he finally drifts off to sleep.
His phone rings. It’s not her text tone but blissfully sleepy he rolls over to his phone to see what-
She’s calling him.
A call from Marinette at three am can only mean one thing. Adrien’s heart jumps into his throat, as he dives to answer the phone,
“I need you it’s an emergency!”
“Where?” Adrien tosses off the sheets off his bed and dashes over to his bedroom window.
“My house! now!” Just as Adrien’s about to ask for details he hears a click and the call ends. Adrien jumps out of the window before he’s even used the transformation words.
_______________________________________________________________________
“Ok… so I should’ve said on the phone this isn’t an akuma attack.”
Normally Adrien would say something hilarious about the mix up but he’s pretty sure he left a lung somewhere between the mansion and the bakery and he has to wait for it to grow back now.
“Yes, milady,” He says between ragged breathes, “I would’ve appreciated that.”
Adrien’s back slides down against her bedroom wall, waiting for his heart to settle down. His knees are bent up against his chest. Marinette looks over at him from her desk, where she’s assembling something he can’t see from this angle. She’s got a guilty look on her face he doesn’t like,
he knows this wasn’t on purpose-
Suitcase. There’s a suitcase on her bed.
“My aunt’s in the hospital.”
Adrien blinks, “You have an aunt?”
Marinette nods and then continues trepidatiously, the kwamis fly all around her room gathering things to put into the suitcase. “My aunt lives in London, she got in an accident and broke her leg.” Marinette’s working on something at her desk, the kwamis are either helping her with the project at her desk or they’re packing for her.
Adrien winces, he’s not exactly close with his aunt but he’d hate to hear that news, “Is she gonna be ok?”
Marinette nods, “The doctor Mama talked to on the phone said she’d be fine.”
Adrien notices Sass placing a hairbrush into the suit case, “But she needs surgery.”
The next kwami… he’s not sure what their name is but he thinks he sees feathers, tosses a fresh pack of hair bands into the suitcase,
“Mama’s already on her way over there,” Marinette continues, “But Papa needed time to close down the bakery properly so we’re taking the train first thing tomor-this morning.”
When he sees a kwami with horns tuck a bottle of ketchup in her suitcase he wonders if he should say something. He chooses not to interrupt the process.
Adrien nods sympathetically, Marinette powers through without noticing,
“The point is. I have to leave Paris for a little bit, at least until I convince my parents to let me come back.”
           Adrien feels his heart plummet.
           “What if there’s an Akuma?”
Secretly he’d always wanted that remote back for the little toy cat. He just wasn’t sure he could ask for it after what happened last time. Marinette brushes off this hope,
“Already taken care of.” Marinette reports confidently, “Scarabella’s meeting me at the train station tomorrow morning, she’ll fill in.”
Adrien pretends he isn’t pouting and tries again, “But-”
Marinette almost reading his mind cuts him off at the pass she swivels in her chair to face him, “It’s only until I can convince them to let me come back.”
Adrien takes a minute to let the disappointment pass. Of course she has to go if someone in her family’s hurt. At least he’s being told what’s going on this time, and she’s thinking of him now. He tries to take some bit of solace in that, at least tries not to seem too disappointed she’s leaving.
“Until then. I need a big favour.”
Adrien feels his eyes go wide and points to his chest in an unspoken question. Marinette rolls her eyes at him in that way she does when she thinks he’s being cute, “Yes you.”
           Adrien smiles proudly,
“I need you to watch the kwamis.”
Adrien blinks once as his brain switches tracks.
“I just…” Marinette starts with a guilty tone that has no business being there in the first place, “I wouldn’t ask, but I can’t just leave them alone. The last time I left them when I came back they’d started a fire in the kitchen and that was just for a day.”
A kwami with floppy ears pops up from her desk drawer, “There was no one to feed us!” Marinette eyes the kwami skeptically,
“We live on top of a bakery. There was plenty of food.” He hasn’t seen this one use his powers yet… are they the miraculous of the dog? The floppy eared kwami pouts,
“But we’ve never gotten to bake before, and we can’t when the guardian’s parents are at home.”
Marinette sighs, “I told you before-“ Marinette stops herself, then swivels back in her chair to face the desk. Then Adrien hears a snap of metal, and she stands up holding…
“I started working on this after the fire.”
           A binder.
Marinette walks over to Adrien with a reverent look in her eyes, “In this, is everything that could possibly come up when watching the Kwamis.” She hands him the binder, Adrien gives a second look to Marinette, who waits on him.
He opens the binder carefully and flips through it.
The binder is thick. With laminated pages, each of the Kwamis gets their own tabbed out section detailing their name, powers, favourite foods, favourite hobbies, favourite ways they get into trouble-
“I don’t need you here all day every day!” Marinette says like she’s trying to excuse herself for asking. Her arms are flailing around wildly like she does when she’s nervous.
There’s a thick section which has a tab with just a red plus symbol on it.
“I know your schedule’s packed,” Marinette pleads, “But if you could stop off a few times a day to make sure they’re ok and not destroying everything, that’d really help.”
There’s a table of contents.
He closes the binder carefully, it’s all so… Ladybug. How long has she been working on this? He looks up at her to tell her how cool she is, how he’s never taken care of anyone the way she is-
Then for the first time tonight Marinette is totally still.
Adrien gets his first good look at her since he dropped down from her ceiling staff out and ready. There are grey rings under her eyes, her hair’s been tugged into two very messy, uneven pig tails and it’s unbrushed in a way he’s never seen it before. He’s seen her in her pyjamas before, but he’s never seen her look this… unready.
And worried.
He finally manages to catch his breath,
Adrien closes the binder with reverence, stands up and makes a solemn vow to himself to commit it to memory.
“I’ve got this.”
The tension from Marinette falls away like a string’s been cut, her eyes glisten, and she looks at him like he’s pulled down the moon for her and he feels his throat tighten. Oh so carefully, she moves into his space and wraps her arms around him tucking her head just under his chin.
“Thank you.” She whispers against his collar bone,
It melts him from the inside out.
“Marinette!”
Tikki flies over, Marinette doesn’t leave his arms but she does turn her head to look Tikki in the eyes,
“You need to finish packing.” Tikki has her arms crossed and her face stern, Adrien catches Marinette pouts and tries not to laugh
“I’m a distraction.” He informs Tikki proudly.
“Yes you are.” Tikki agrees, not quite managing to look unamused.
Marinette rolls her eyes at both of them which means she thinks they’re both being cute. Then her head swings around alarmed,
“Who put ketchup in my suitcase?!”
_______________________________________________________________________
“You really don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into do you kid?”
Adriens’ been studying the binder ever since he got home. It’s exactly as intense and detail oriented as he’d expect Marinette to be about this. Adrien’s so dazzled at the comprehensive break down he almost didn’t hear Plagg,
           “What?”
Plagg swallows a slice of camembert whole before rolling his eyes at Adrien,
“The guardian’s got a lot of responsibilities. And not all the kwamis are as easy to take care of as I am.”
The look Adrien gives him must be incredible because Plagg gets offended very quickly and dramatically turns his head away,
“Well fine.” Plagg turns away crossing his tiny arms, “If you don’t want my advice. You don’t get my advice.”
Adrien starts to feel a bit of guilt but before he can apologize,
“I’ll accept your apologies for a dozen wheels of Camembert.”
Plagg gets a balled up scrap of paper thrown at him and laughs as it passes through him.
_______________________________________________________________________
Marinette texts him around 8 am to let him know that the exchange with Scarabella’s been made.
And also that she’ll miss him.

High Priest, Pt. 2
From “The Many Akumatizations of Luka Couffaine.”
The class was, for the most part, silent.
No one knew what to feel after yesterday, Juleka included. It was… Everything was fine, they were all hanging out, and then Lila mentioned that Marinette got out of trouble for bullying her, which was horrible, and… and…
Juleka didn’t know who pushed Marinette. She just knew that someone did. No one goes from backing away from a hoard of angry teenagers to crumpled at the bottom of concrete stairs by the Seine by yourself. And then Lila had said,
“Wow, I can’t believe she’s faking being hurt. She has a lot of nerve after pushing me down the stairs. I didn’t make such a big deal out of it.”
And they all just left her.
But Marinette wasn’t faking. She’d seen it in Luka’s face when her parents had called him, saying that Marinette was in the hospital and that he needed to come, as her boyfriend (her boyfriend, Luka was her boyfriend, when Lila had told them Marinette had bullied her because of Marinette’s jealousy over how close she and Adrien were-). And now…
And now…
The class was silent.
Who was the guilty one, Juleka wondered. Not Lila, she had stood at the back of the group while they accosted Marinette. Not Adrien, who hadn’t gotten involved and hadn’t defended Marinette, a true neutral that wasn’t neutral at all. Not Chloe, who wasn’t even there and chatted away with Sabrina without a care in the world, unknowing or uncaring about their hospitalized friend. But Alya, but Nino, but Kim, but anyone…
There was a murderer among them.
A sharp trill of their phones went off, all of them at once. The akuma alert. Alya, who already had her phone out, was the first to shout. “There’s an akuma at Arc Hospital!”
Juleka paled. (“I’m going to Arc Hospital! Tell mom not to wait for me!”)
“Apparently it can transform the environment,” Alya gushed, like her best friend wasn’t in danger. No one noticed Adrien leaving with a rushed excuse about the bathroom - they were all used to his weak bladder by now. “That’s so cool! I’ve never seen an akuma do that before!”
“There might be a sentimonster along with it,” Nino pointed out. “Maybe on the hospital itself, and that’s why it transformed.”
“Oh, that makes more sense!” Alya replied, already packing up her bag. “I’m going to head to the sight; someone has to document the akuma!”
“I’ll go with you,” Nino said.
The two were heading out the door, nothing too different, when Lila spoke up, shakily raising her hand. “C-Can I come too?” she asked. “It’s just… I’ve been so worried about Ladybug lately; akuma’s have been getting a lot stronger, so I just thought that I could be there for her, cheer her on?”
Alya looked nervous. “Well, actually-”
“That’s a great idea!” Rose gushed, like they didn’t have a friend in that specific hospital. “I’m sure Ladybug will defeat the akuma with her best friend by her side!”
“Yeah!”
“Hey, we should go too!”
“Ladybug will certainly feel empowered if an entire class cheers her on!”
“Sure. She’ll probably end up needing Queen Bee, if the akuma is that powerful.”
We shouldn’t do that, Juleka tried to say, only for the words to get stuck in her throat. Did they see that they were putting themselves in danger, potential hostages for the akuma? But no, they were blind. Lila led them like lemmings, encouraging them, saying “Yes, of course Ladybug would love that, we should all go!”
That’s how, despite her instincts, Juleka was forced into going to ground zero. At least she wasn’t the only one disliking the situation. Both Alya and Nino looked put out for some reason, and Chloe was just unhappy in general.
The hospital had been transformed into a temple. “Aztec,” Rose whispered as they all stared up at the pyramid. “It looks… like those pictures from that research project Luka was doing.” Juleka nodded and suddenly had a horrible feeling about who exactly the akuma was. The stone looked rough, the mica a sandy-grey. Pictographs were carved into the stone, unlike any Juleka had ever seen, with each image growing more and more graphic in violence as the class climbed the pyramid together. They all… looked like people, she noticed.
The truly concerning factor, however, was the group of people that gathered at the bottom of the pyramid as the class trekked upward. But no one else set foot on the temple. They were utterly alone.
There was only one entrance into the temple, a wide, gaping mouth of a door. Fire flickered inside the opening. Alya gave a shaky smile as she readied her camera. “Well, I guess we’re expected, right guys?” Her attempt at a joke fell flat as the class inched into the temple.
The inside was covered in carvings, intricate and beautiful, painted and bright. Most of them depicted a beautiful dark-haired woman with a crescent moon on her forehead being worshiped. Was she the akuma? Some woman with a god-complex that turned the hospital into… this? Torches lined the walls, throwing dark shadows across the paintings. “They look like they’re moving,” Nathaniel whispered, enthralled as the class spread out, everyone looking around the interior.
Alix frowned. “It doesn’t look very Aztec to me.”
At the center of the room was a glass altar. Or, more accurately, as Juleka approached it, a glass coffin. The frosted glass concealed the content’s identity at a distance, but up close, Juleka realized it was… “Marinette?”
That got everyone’s attention. Shocked gasps and exclamations filled the room. Alya pushed her way to the front. “What? No, it can’t be…”
Nino looked at the coffin nervously. “She can’t be akumatized, can she?”
“Of course not!” Alya spat back, coming to the defense of her comatose best friend. “She’s too strong to-”
Lila clung to Alya, cutting her off. “She was probably so upset that I revealed she was bullying me!” She wailed, the sound grating in the echoing expanse of the hall. “Oh, it’s all my fault that Marinette finally got akumatized!” For a moment, Juleka thought Lila sounded… vindicated? What?
“Cease your lies, Defiler of this hallowed place. -A strong, male, familiar voice boomed out, seemingly from nowhere-“Lest your accursed tongue wound the ears of our slumbering Goddess.”
From the shadows immerged a blue figure, dressed like a stereotypical Aztec priest. His skin, mostly his bare chest and face, was covered in black tattoos, like the line of triangles under his left eye and over his right. He wore a large, jeweled necklace that sparkled in the fire light, and feathers, dark blue and pink, trailed out of his short hair and down his back, past the linen skirt he wore to cover his modesty.
It was obvious at first glance that the akuma was Luka.
What was also obvious was the large, ceremonial knife in his hand.
“Rejoice, heretics, non-believers, and renouncers of the faith,” the akuma said, looking down on their class with cold rage. “The day has come at last to join our Goddess in everlasting peace at her side. For I, the High Priest, have been given the sacred duty of awakening the Goddess of the Moon, the Melody of all Hearts, the Ever-Resting Queen… and it is with your blood that she will live again.”
Rose trembled at Juleka’s side. “Our… blood?” she whispered.
“Correct.” He could hear them, oh no, oh no… “Either through service or sacrifice, it matters little to me. Though my Goddess may wish for you to bleed through service, I care not so long as the blood is taken.”
“You…” Alya growled, then snapped, pointing at the High Priest. “Ladybug and Chat Noir will defeat you and save Marinette, you fiend. And if you think any of us are joining you, you’ve got another thing coming!”
“So, you have chosen death.” The room grew darker, the torches dimming. The High Priest’s eyes glowed neon blue. “Then may my Goddess have mercy on your fleeting soul…
“For I will have none.”

Out of curiously, what’s your opinion on giving the Kwamis mindsets more like their respective animals? Like, Tikki becomes a predator, Pollen saves the label of ‘Queen’ for any wielder that she thinks doesn’t measure up… honestly I’m not sure what Trixx and Wayzz would do, but Plagg would probably just stay as is.
For me, I like the idea that depending on what animal a kwami is based on, it'll have influence on their personality and mindset. Especially factoring in symbolism and such.
But I wouldn't want it to define the kwami personality, especially since they're not animals themselves. At most, the animal they're based on gives them little quirks, but they should have more personality past that.
And for quirks, I mean like:
Like, Tikki, Nooroo, and Pollen all love to be around flowers or near a garden and help care for it.
Plagg and Trixx are mischievous and occasionally like to pounce on their humans.
Wayzz and Sass like to spend time in the morning sunbathing, and the former also likes it if he can have some water to drift in.
Sometimes Duusu likes to sing/scream, and when Duusu really wants attention, those tail feathers fan to be more eyecatching. Or they fan when angry to make Duusu seem bigger.
These can also shape their morals and what they think is right.
Trixx thinks its ok to lie so long as you're not being malicious about it or you're being smart about your lies.
Plagg thinks it's ok to be selfish/put yourself first as your wants matter. Yes, it may inconvenience others, but sometimes that's just how the cup is pushed off the table.
Pollen thinks all humans should thrive to be productive and helpful, reasonable, open minded, and firm; and for her users to play a role that suits them best whether that be support, aggressor, ect.. She could also be one of the few kwamis that has a gender preference, and maybe requested that her miraculous be a hair comb so mostly girls will use her. As a more personal joke/kab, she can definitely snidely adopt "Queen" as a demoting term to any humans she receives, and be a secret danger to them. Perhaps one of the few kwamis to really push boundaries in the face of misuse. Nothing lethal of course, but those misusers won't be in for a good time.
On ladybugs, considering how effective they are at clearing out pests, Tikki should be more war oriented, and maybe she in the past she was considering she went to a lot of warriors? TIkki also should be all about love and family, which is the 2nd biggest symbolism for ladybugs, particularly in Europe. There are so many little myths that say you'll marry soon if a ladybug lands on you, or where it goes is where your future partner is, or how many spots is on it will tell you how many children you'll have (you can even note that Marinette wants 3 kids and Tikki herself has 3 spots). If Tikki took more to ladybugs, not only should she be more about wiping out pests, but very invested in Marinette's love life. At most, Tikki matches the ladybug symbol of luck, seeking to bring happiness to all around her (minus her human who she seems to think should be more focused on happiness for others than herself).
So, using Tikki as an example, my ideal kwami that has more nod to the animal they're based:
Tikki's canon personality is still there, happiness of others before yourself, duty always takes priority; but she's far more openly hostile and irritates with the likes of Chloe and Lila. Also Chat Noir is really starting to irritate her, which extends to Adrien post her learning that he is Chat and it's something she will fight Plagg on when they're together. And when Marinette's in that very romantic mood and gushing about her crush, Tikki isn't teasing her but gushing with her. It'd actually work in canon's favor as Marinette's crush on Adrien was fueled by an invested Tikki. And when Tikki learns Adrien = Chat, Tikki starts to push her towards Luka, adding to Marinette being torn and uncertain. And as little unique quirks from being a ladybug, Tikki likes to be around a garden and will help care for it, and she gets sleepy and snuggly during the winter time.
This would be my ideal Tikki. She's got some aspects to ladybugs in behavior and her moral stance and views are based around symbolism, but she also has more to her. A personality, opinions and views, dislikes, biases, and flaws.
This is my ideal sort of kwami. Their personality, quirks, and views are shaped by what animal they are, but it's not a defining personality. I wouldn't want Pollen to have the same exclusive mindset that bees would have, I would like her to have more to her. To be gentle yet tenacious. To be open minded and very engaging with her humans, desiring to help humans find what they do best and help them thrive as that would be their best way to help their community as a whole.

I honestly hope Adrien isn't a sentimonster. Because if he is, then the amount of Sadrien content and manipulating people because 'sad' is going to make me tear my hair out. Ugh, I'm dreading just thinking about it.
lol if the question as to "will they do this?" is in response to something that will add on sad points for Adrien, the answer is almost always, "yes."
Anonymous asked:
Adrien is Sadtimonster

Serafina
Part 2     Part 3
Based on @unmaskedagain post “Marinette’s Haunted Doll” this is my take on the story and the kind of things Serafina would have done to get even. There’ll be three parts, and will hopefully be posted through the week. Blood, gore, and character death ahead. You have been warned.
She was seven years old when her Grandma Gina’s sister, Ramona, passed away. Marinette couldn’t remember ever meeting her. Her dad said that she was a very private person and didn’t get out much. Since she had never married or had any children, all of her relatives were asked to come over to the house and divide the property before the rest was sold and equally divided.
While her parents had been in the kitchen, looking over some family cook books, Marinette had wandered around the old house until she came to a small room. It was full of spiderwebs and old toys, which greatly interested her. She spent a long time looking through the boxes and shelves until she found a locked chest in the closet. Remembering the key she had seen in a dresser drawer, she retrieved it to see if it worked. It was hard to turn, but she heard the click and was able to open the lid. Inside was a box with an envelope laying on top of it. Curious she opened the envelope and read the note as best as she could.
“If I’m dead, Serafina killed me.”
Tilting her head in curiosity, Marinette set the letter aside and opened the box. Inside was an old looking porcelain doll. It was covered in spiderwebs, the dress was old and ripped, she was missing a shoe, and the hat looked like it was stained with red paint.
“Are you Serafina?” She asked the doll before carefully lifting it out of the box. “I don’t think you’re bad, you just look lonely. But don’t worry, I’ll take care of you!” Giving the doll a gentle hug, the little girl got to her feet and left the room and letter behind. Finding her parents, she asked if it was okay to take the doll home so she could take care of her.
Tom remembered seeing that doll when he was a kid and had always thought it was creepy, but if his little girl saw the good in it, he would trust her. And since none of the other relatives wanted anything to do with the doll, it came home with them.
Once home, the little girl raced up to her room with the doll and immediately got to work. She threw away the old dress, hat, and shoe before cleaning away all the dirt with a washcloth and carefully combing out the knotted hair. Then Marinette got to work on making Serafina a brand new outfit with new shoes and a hat. It took a few days, but she was really happy with what she came up with: a pink Victorian dress with rose and pearl accents, a wide brimmed hat with maroon feathers, and maroon slippers that tied with ribbons around the ankles.
Proud of what she had made, Marinette held the doll up high as she twirled around her room. She had been interested in fashion and clothes for months now, and making the pretty outfit for Serafina was a lot of fun. If anything, it proved to her that fashion design was what she wanted to do.
“I hope you like your new clothes, Serafina. You make the perfect little model, so I hope you don’t mind if I make more clothes for you later on. I promise to only make you clothes that will make you feel pretty.” Giving the doll a kiss, Marinette placed her next to her computer before skipping down stairs for dinner.
~oOo~
Serafina had not been expecting this when the young girl, Marinette, had opened her box. It had been decades since anyone had shown her any kindness. For so many years, she had been passed from person to person, shoved into boxes and hidden from sight or attempted to be sold off. Serafina had had no choice but to punish many of her past owners, and she had not been lax with their punishments.
But she didn’t feel the need to do that with Marinette, this girl was different. She wasn’t afraid of her. She didn’t scorn her and hide her away where no one could see her. No, this girl was kind and made Serafina feel loved; something she hadn’t felt in nearly a hundred years. Staying with Marinette, she knew that she would be happy. So, no one needed to die here.
And she was.
The porcelain doll smiled quietly on Marinette’s desk as the years passed, and felt more for this girl than she could remember with anyone else. She felt beautiful whenever Marinette used her to experiment with a new outfit before she would make a full sized outfit for herself. She had fun when the girl would sing and dance around the room, sometimes even picking her up so she could dance with her. She felt entertained when she would play movies on her computer, one time watching a movie about a haunted doll like herself; they didn’t watch much before she turned it off, but Serafina thought it was funny. Scratching people and leaving notes wasn’t scary, she had done much scarier things than that.
As Marinette grew into a teen, Serafina felt proud as she grew from a shy girl into a fearless superhero. Her owner had a lot of love and light to give, so it made sense to her that she became Ladybug. She also felt scared for the girl, not wanting to lose her to Hawkmoth, but silently promised her that if she was ever hurt, the people who hurt her would pay her back in blood.
Serafina was also aware of the tiny god that gave Marinette her power, just as Tikki was aware of her. No doubt, the god could sense the darkness that dwelled in her porcelain body, but realized that she cared for the girl and would not harm her. So the little god wisely said nothing, she would hate it if Marinette suddenly feared her.
After all, the three of them were happy and at peace.
Until the day Marinette came storming into her room, complaining about a girl named Lila. From what she could hear, this girl was a liar and was using her friends. Knowing how much her human cared for other people, that didn’t sit well with how it would affect her. Then she didn’t hear anything about the girl for months. But when she was mentioned again, it quickly got worse from there.
Serafina heard about the threats, the lies, almost being akumatized, her crush Adrien telling her to take the high road, all of it. She watched as one by one, her friends turned against her. Bullying her while accusing her of being a bully until only three of her classmates remained. She knew that the teacher and principal were useless and even accused Marinette of being a problem, especially after the expulsion. Serafina had nearly enacted her revenge that day, but held back when she was reinstated the next day.
Nathaniel, Rose, and Juleka were the only people left that believed her or even bothered to try and help in her class. There was also Kagami and Luka, Juleka’s brother. Serafina would admit, that boy was sharper than most. When he first saw her, his blue eyes studied her intently for a long moment until Marinette spoke up.
“That’s Serafina, she’s been passed down through my family for a long time. She was in really bad condition when I got her and took a lot of work to get her fixed up, but it was worth it. She was my first ever model and I’ve never felt lonely since she’s been around.”
Luka looked back over at the doll and gave her a smile. “I can tell, I’d bet no one gave her the proper love or attention until she came to you. And I think, if she could talk, she would say that you kept her from feeling lonely too, and all she wants is for you to be happy.”
Serafina liked that boy, a lot more than she had liked Adrien when he had come to play video games. The boy genuinely seemed to care for Marinette. And even though he could somehow sense that she was more than just a doll, he didn’t spill her secret. Yes, she approved of this one.
And then, less than a week after she returned to school, came the worst day. They were taking pictures at the school and Marinette had worked so hard on a new dress; it was pale purple cotton with teacup sleeves, a tulip skirt and pink lace at the hem. It was so sweet and looked like she was going to a spring tea party. Then half way through the day, she came into her room crying. Her makeup was smeared, there were bruises and scratch marks on her arms, another bruise on her cheek, her hair was a mess and covered in dark blue paint. The same paint that covered almost half of the dress. Tikki was doing her best to comfort the girl as she showered. Marinette was unable to save her dress and ended up throwing it away before she cried herself to sleep on her bed.
Serafina was angry, the kind of anger she hadn’t felt since Ramona had attempted to burn her in the fireplace… and that hadn’t gone well for her. Tikki flew over to face her. “I know what you’re thinking and I can’t condone you falling into old habits and killing her entire class. Despite how much they’ve hurt her, it would still break her heart if they all suddenly died.”
The doll actually considered that for a moment before picturing some very specific people. Lila, the liar that was trying to take away/destroy the person she cared about. Alya, the best friend that betrayed her, acted like a hypocrite, and took joy in hurting her. Adrien, the boy that not only broke his promise to help her as a civilian, but continually harassed her as a pseudo-hero. And finally, Hawkmoth, the person that was constantly putting her in danger. Everyone else that had harmed her would be punished, paying back the harm they had done to Marinette in blood, but those four would pay with their lives.
Tikki shook her head. “As angry as I am with Adrien, you can’t kill him. Marinette still has feelings for him and if he dies, she might never get over him. I can’t stop you from punishing them, but please try not to kill them. You know that she has a big heart and it would hurt her to lose any of them, so please keep that in mind.”
Serafina would have argued, but the little god was right. Killing around Marinette would only upset her. So she would do her best to punish them without killing them… although, accidents do happen.
~oOo~
It was easy enough to sneak herself into Marinette’s bag the next day of school. It was even easier to select her first victims. One of her classmates, Kim, stole her backpack and dumped out all of her stuff, including her. The boy laughed about Marinette bringing a doll to school as he ran up the stairs to keep it away from her. It took little effort to make the boy trip, in full view of everyone that had been watching, and fall backwards down the steps.
Serafina had landed at the top landing with a perfect view of the boy’s tumble, and it was oh so satisfying. She could see his knee bent in the wrong direction, a bone in his arm protruding from the skin, and blood dripping from the cuts and open wounds. But the sound was even better, all the cracking and popping of bone before he began crying like a little girl, begging for his mom.  Ah, she hadn’t realized how much she had missed those sounds.
When the principal came out to see what was happening, she hid her presence and let the principal trip over her and fall as well. He even landed on Kim, causing more injuries to both of them. She held back a laugh as the grown man wailed and cried until the paramedics arrived. Loading the two into the ambulance while one of the teachers called the Board of Governors. A representative, M. Rupere, quickly came to take over the principal’s duties while he was gone, and was surprised when a bunch of students tried to blame Marinette for the incident.
“And how is it her fault?” He asked the students that surrounded him. “Did you see her push or trip M. Le Chien or M. Damocles down the stairs?
“Marinette brought in a doll and Kim was distracted by it when he was going up the stairs, that’s how he tripped and fell,” Lila told him with tears in her eyes. “Then M. Damocles tripped over the doll and fell down the stairs too. It’s just like how she pushed me down the stairs last week and I hurt my knee. I think she’s actually trying to hurt people.”
The man looked at Lila for a moment before looking to the top of the stairs, but there was no doll there. Then he looked back at Lila with a stern glare. “Young lady, if you had been pushed down the stairs last week, you would have been severely injured just like your friend or M. Damocles. And whether or not it was Mlle. Dupain-Cheng’s doll that caused the incident or not, does not mean that she is at fault for the accident. To the principal’s office, right now. I think we should have a discussion as to why you are trying to blame another student for something she did not do.”
Totally shocked, the girl looked around to her followers for some support, but they were now looking at her with uncertainty. They had just seen two people fall down the stairs and receive severe injuries, so how was Lila walking around just fine without a scratch on her? Huffing in annoyance, Lila stomped her way to the office while the class stared after her, most of them noticing the lack of limp to her walk.
Serafina was pleased with how this was turning out, she had already punished two of the people that had betrayed Marinette and had begun sewing seeds of doubt with the liar. At the moment, she was hiding in the classroom, observing everyone so she could figure out the best way to punish them. She noticed Rose, Juleka, and Nathaniel sitting close to the girl and doing their best to comfort her. She also noticed Nino, a boy she had seen a couple of times over the years, casting looks back at Marinette.
During the first break, the boy cautiously approached her, clutching his hat in his hands. “Hey dudette, listen… I, um, wanted to say I was sorry,” he said, having a hard time looking her in the eye. “After Kim fell, what that Governor dude said about Lila not being hurt, and the fact that I’ve known you forever. I felt so stupid. You would never push someone down the stairs or cheat or steal from someone like that. And I tried looking up Jagged’s discography to see if there was any mention of a song about Lila, and there was literally nothing. I tried telling Alya, but she didn’t want to listen and-”
Nino was interrupted by Marinette giving him a hug. Serafina smiled at that. The boy had thought for himself and admitted that he was wrong. He apologized and Marinette was willing to offer him forgiveness. She supposed that Nino could also be exempt from punishment, so long as he never betrayed the girl again.
Half way through the second lesson, Lila had returned to the class with two weeks worth of detention and had a meeting scheduled with herself, M. Rupere, and her mother at the end of the week. Serafina decided to let the girl’s empire fall before going in to completely destroy her.
During lunch, when all the students had left. Serafina got to work on punishing Mme. Bustier. She started by slamming the door shut, it made the woman jump and look around the room, but there was no one there. Then the giggling started, causing her to look around the room again. This time, she walked up the steps to see if anyone was hiding in the room, but she was completely alone. When she turned back to her desk, the papers she had been grading were torn to pieces. A bit panicked, Bustier tried to run out of the room, but the door was locked. As she struggled with the door, she heard the scraping of chalk and froze for a moment before looking at the board. Large words were scrawled in block letters: LIAR, ENABLER, MEAN, CRUEL, and the most frightening of all, YOU WILL PAY.
Bustier’s hands were shaking as she erased the words from the board, not understanding what was happening. Only taking a breath when the door opened and her students began to file in. Serafina quietly laughed at the teacher’s fear, she was another person that she would take her time in punishing. Payback for failing to help Marinette. For now, it was time to take out her biggest supporter.
Again, it was much easier than it should have been to sneak herself in Alya’s backpack and go home with her. When the girl found her she sneered. “The klutz must have put you in my bag by mistake.” Then she smiled cruelly at her. “I think I’ll give you to Etta and Ella to play with before giving you back to Maribrat, maybe tell them that you need a makeover and give them some permanent markers too.”
Turning to take the doll out to her sisters, she stubbed her toe on her desk chair hard enough that she felt a crack and dropped back on her butt while hissing in pain. When she was finally able to think past the pain, she realized that she had dropped the doll and didn't see it on the floor. After wrapping her foot, she looked all over her room but couldn’t find it anywhere.
That night, things got… more than scary. Alya was absolutely terrified.
First, her computer turned on, on its own, and started printing off papers saying “YOU KNOW THE TRUTH”. She turned the computer off, only for it to turn back on after she’d climbed into bed and the browser pulled up past searches; specifically, the searches that proved that Lila had been lying. She had found that out after Lila had disappeared from school for months, but had kept to herself so she wouldn’t lose her credibility on her blog or have to admit to Marinette that she’d been right. Turning it off again, she’d decided to sleep on the couch when her phone suddenly let out a hiss and burst into flames.
Letting out a shriek, Alya rushed to her door, and had just barely opened it when it slammed shut on her fingers, causing her to scream as she struggled to pull her hand free. She could hear her parents and Nora shouting on the other side of the door, trying to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge. Her head got fuzzy and she suddenly felt cold, she realized that she was going into shock. Her parents’ shouts became garbled background noise and Alya heard the sound of tiny feet running around the room. She tried reaching the light switch so she could see, but it was out of reach.
From the light outside her window, she could barely make out the movement of a small shadow, moving from one part of the room to another. Coming closer and closer to her with every sweep. Alya began tugging harder on the doorknob and her hand. She needed to get out. Something was in the room with her. She could almost feel the darkness creeping closer. It wanted to hurt her!
What happened next, Serafina couldn’t have planned better if she’d tried. Alya jerked back her trapped arm and the doorknob at the same time Nora threw her shoulder into the door as hard as she could. Sending the teenagers flying into her bedside table and her head hitting the corner with an audible *crack*. The doll smiled silently in the corner of the room as the paramedics were called and listened to her parents cries for their horrid daughter to wake up. They called time of death at 2:03am.
~oOo~
It was a bit more of a chore for Serafina to get back to the school, but it was still manageable as her mother had to inform the school of her daughter’s death and pick up her things. The woman had also noticed the information that had been brought up on Alya’s computer and thought that she had been up late chasing a lead. And as the lead had to do with the disturbing behavior of one of her daughter’s classmates, she thought it best to show the acting principal the information before taking her leave.
Making her way back to the classroom, she saw that the news had spread already. Nino seemed to be hit the hardest, as it was his girlfriend, but he would get over it. Kim was still out of class, and likely would be for a few more days. Tikki saw the doll when she was peeking out of the purse and gave her a disapproving glare, but there was nothing she could do. And in Serafina’s defense, she had only intended on maiming the failed journalist, her death had been an “accident”.
When class let out for lunch, Serafina got back to work tormenting Mme. Bustier. Today, the door slammed and locked shut a few minutes after the last student left. The woman shrieked and was struggling to open the door when the giggling started again. Bustier started screaming for it to “go away” but the giggling continued. Turning back to the door, books began flying at her from all over the room, hitting her chest, back, arms since they were shielding her head.
Then the door opened to show a panicked looking M. Rupere. “I heard screaming, are you alright?” The red haired teacher looked extremely frazzled; her hair was a mess, eyes wide and dilated, and her hands were shaking.
“The books,” she said in a trembling voice. “There was giggling, the door wouldn’t open, and the books attacked me. And this was the second time!”
His eyebrows rose to his hairline as he stared at the woman. “Did you see who was throwing the books at you?”
Bustier shook her head in a frantic manner. “There was no one, the books just started flying at me after the giggling.”
Giving her a slow nod, Rupere gently motioned her to step out of the room ahead of him. “How about you take the rest of the day to recover? Some rest will do you some good.”
To his relief, Mme. Bustier agreed and collected her purse before leaving the school. Looking around the room, he was confused to see all the books in place on the shelves. Curious, he went to examine her desk and saw essay papers… covered in red ink with large “F’s” on every one of them. Reading the paper on top, all he saw were a few grammar mistakes, nothing that should have resulted in a failing grade. A bit unsettled, Rupere called the Board to schedule a psychological exam for the teacher. Serafina watched the man with satisfaction, at the rate she was going with that terrible teacher, she wouldn’t be around much longer.
Her next victims were Max and Alix during science class. She switched a couple of labels on the tubs on their desk before hiding in the room to enjoy the show. Half-way through class, Max poured a large amount of reactive chemical into the mix while it was warming over a burner, and the glass exploded. The two screamed and cursed in pain as Max tried wiping the liquid away from his face, only succeeding in getting more in his eyes. Alix tried wiping it away with a cloth, not noticing in time that the fabric was also soaked in the chemicals that now covered her entire face.
Serafina was impressed with how quickly Mme. Mendeleiev reacted to the incident. Doaning on gloves in an instant and leading the two students to the chemical wash station. Both students looked to have chemical burns on their faces, arms and necks. She could already see the burns covering a large amount of their exposed skin. While the class was distracted, Serafina switched the labels back so it would appear that the two had not been doing as instructed.
When school let out, the doll hid away in Mylene’s bag and ended up going on a date with the girl and Ivan. They commented on the bad luck their class seemed to be having and wondered out loud at what the cause might have been.
Mylene was hesitant to speak as the two ate their ice cream. “Do you think… maybe it’s karma coming back on our class?”
“Why do you think that?” Ivan asked her, seeming genuinely curious. Deciding that their conversation might lead to something more, Serafina waited and listened.
“It’s just… ever since Kim fell down the stairs, it’s got me thinking. Lila says that Marinette pushed her but the only injury she says she got was a bad knee, and she’s been walking around fine since then. And then she tried blaming Marinette for Kim and M. Damocles, when Kim shouldn’t have been running up the stairs and M. Damocles tripped at the top of the stairs when she was still down in the courtyard.”
“You’re right, now that I think about it. Lila lied to that new principal and she did it really easy.” Ivan nodded slowly, his brow creased as he pulled out his phone. “I wonder if she lied about anything else.” Mylene watched over his shoulder as he looked up the story about saving Jagged Stone’s kitten from an airplane. There was nothing, the only article that came up about a pet was his crocodile, Fang. The story said that he had hatched the reptile himself seventeen years earlier and any other pet wouldn’t be as rock’n’roll as Fang. “I don’t think Jagged ever had a cat, this article says that he’s only had Fang for longer than we’ve been around.”
Mylene pulled out her phone and called Rose, putting the call on speaker when she answered.
“Hi Mylene, did you hear anything about Max and Alix? Are they going to be okay?” The girl asked as soon as she picked up.
“Ivan and I haven’t heard anything about them yet, but we have a question for you, Rose, and it’s something only you would be able to answer.”
There was a slight pause on the line. “Go ahead.”
“Do you still chat with Prince Ali?”
“Sure I do! We video chat every Saturday and I send him videos of our performances with Kitty Section. Why do you ask?”
“Ivan and I were wondering… Has he ever mentioned Lila to you?”
There was another pause, although they could hear a hushed conversation in the background. “So, you guys figured out the truth about Lila?” When they didn’t respond right away, Rose continued. “I found out a few weeks after Lila says she came back from Achu. I mentioned Lila to Ali and asked him about the charities they had been working on together, but he’d never heard of her. And Ali is only working on charities involving children, nothing with the environment. When Juleka and I tried asking Lila about it, she got really mean and threatened us if we told anyone. I would have been akumatized if Marinette hadn’t been there to calm me down.”
Ivan and Mylene were horrified, not only had Lila been lying to them, but she had threatened Rose, Juleka, and probably Marinette too. “What should we do?”
“First, you should apologize to Marinette for how you’ve been treating her and let her know that you know the truth.” They heard Juleka over the phone. “Lila has been more terrible to her than anyone else and she keeps getting in Lila’s way to protect us and Nathaniel since we know the truth about her.”
“Who all knows?” Ivan asked, feeling a bit sick to his stomach. Sure, he and Mylene hadn’t really hurt her or done anything, but they hadn’t stood up for her either and they were supposed to be her friend.
“Us, Luka, Kagami, Nathaniel figured it out when she said she could introduce him to Stan Lee, Nino figured it out yesterday, and Adrien’s apparently known from the start but didn’t say anything because he doesn’t think her lies are hurting anybody.”
Both of them could hear the acid in Juleka’s voice when she mentioned Adrien, and they couldn’t argue with her. They knew he had led a sheltered life, but how could he claim that ‘lies don’t hurt anybody’ after sitting back and watching Lila and her friends torment and bully Marinette?
Mylene hadn’t even realized that she had asked that question out loud until Rose answered them. “He told us that it was Marinette’s own fault for antagonizing Lila, and ‘If she just took the high road like I told her, then Lila would leave her alone’. It took everything I had not to slap him.”
Coming from Rose, that really was saying something.
Serafina was then taken on a shopping trip to an arts supplies store, a card shop, and a stop at an ATM before going to Marinette’s family’s bakery. She smiled quietly and with great respect to the couple as they apologized to her girl, gave her cards, an entire bolt of soft purple cotton the same color that her ruined dress had been, a new sketchbook, and money to pay her back for some of the things that Marinette had given them over the past year. They even asked her to provide them with proper receipts, and admitted that they knew the amount they had given her wasn’t enough to cover everything. But they promised to pay her back before asking for anything else, as well as pay in advance for any future items or baked goods.
The little doll would have cried right along with Marinette if she could. These two had proven themselves to her and would avoid punishment, just as Nino had.

Meeting For The First Time

9/1/21
Marinette Agreste and Adrien Agreste have been battling Hawkmoth for quite some time. They're 23 now, it's been 10 years. Parisians are losing hope, in their once believed saviors.
It's the same routine, and honestly, it's getting quite tiring for them. It's constantly repetitive. Akuma, after Akuma. Day, by day.
Marinette was home alone in the house, while Adrien was off at a meeting. She had been sleeping when a sound went off.
Marinette had just gotten an alert for another Akuma. Begrudgingly she got out of bed.
"I mean what if I wanted to live in America? I can't even do that! I just so happened to help an old man from getting hit by a car, and bam I unknowingly just signed my life off to be a superhero." Marinette said exasperatedly, as she called upon her transformation.
As Ladybug swung around Paris with her yoyo, she landed on top of a building to call Chat Noir.
Once Chat had finally answered Ladybug spoke.
"..Chat?" Ladybug called, as she looked around.
"Yes, M'lady? I'm on my way." Chat noir said as he swung around Paris with his staff.
When Chat Noir finally made it to where Ladybug was standing, he noticed her face was quite serious, with a mix of worry.
"Bug, what's wrong?" Chat said, as he looked in the direction she was looking at.
"Chat. Where's the Akuma?" Ladybug asked slowly.
"Wait What? Maybe Hawkmoth called it back?" Chat Noir questioned, as he tried to subtly reassure her.
"He wouldn't do that. He hasn't let out an Akuma all day. He's planning something big. I know it." Ladybug stressed as she paced back and forth.
"It seems that you are correct, little bug." Hawkmoth snarled as he leaned into his cane.
"Hawkmoth." Chat Noir sneered, as he took a protective stance in front of Ladybug while spinning his staff.
Mayura joined Hawkmoth at his side, as she fluttered her feathered fan.
"Hawkmoth, what do you want. It's been 10 years, get over it." Ladybug said in an authoritative and exhausted tone as she started spinning her yoyo.
"Isn't it obvious? The Miraculous, and soon it will be mine. I've gotten tired of my Akumas never getting the job done, but now, I'm here to complete it once and for all." Hawkmoth seethed, as he got into a fighting stance.
"Okay, then. Bring it on." Ladybug motioned, as she, and Chat got into a fighting stance as well.
.oOo.
Many hours later, and by record this was one of the most brutal battles to be recorded in Paris.
Ladybug can already tell she'll be sleeping for a while after this.
The Miraculous were finally collected.
..
The Butterfly, and the Peacock.
"It was you." Chat Noir said as he took steps back away from the people he dares call family. Too in shock to do anything he decided to back off.
"YOU! BOTH OF YOU!" Ladybug seethed, as she stared at them disgustedly.
"LUCKY CHARM!" Ladybug said as she got blessed with a baseball bat.
Ladybug did what any reasonable person would do after being tormented for 10 years. She hit them with the bat. Not once, not twice, nor thrice. Just up until the closest her satisfaction could get. Of course, it wouldn't be fulfilled because you can't get rid of 10 years of trauma just like that, but just until the bat broke. The bat was magical though, the amount of strength.
She disposed of the two criminals to somewhere very far away, a place called Nanda Parbat.
Ladybug threw up the remains of the baseball bat and called up her Miraculous Ladybug.
As everything went back to normal there was one thing that wasn't the same anymore. Chat Noir.
She assisted, and she swung them away to their residence.
The two cried all night and slept for two days.
.oOo.
After things were starting to get back to normal, not like they ever could be. News channels and networks from all around the world started getting information about the terrorist in Paris.
"Adrien?" Marinette called out from the kitchen.
"Yes, Buginette?" Adrien answered as he made his way towards the kitchen.
"I just got an email from a Bruce Wayne.."
"Okay, so we're meeting Bruce Wayne, who is also my biological father?!" Marinette ranted as she pulled on her hair, and paced back and forth.
Adrien, already noticing this, went over, and removed her hands from damaging her hair.
"Bug, it'll be okay. Emma will just stay over at the bakery for the week. You know Sabine loves her." Adrien reassured, as he sat them down, and ran smooth circles on her back.
"Yeah, she'll stay at the bakery with Maman, and- DOES MAMAN KNOW ABOUT THIS OR PAPA?!" Marinette stressed reaching her hands towards her hand again, while Adrien brought them right down into his own.
"Bug, it's okay, just call them," Adrien suggested while holding her hands.
---------------------------
"See? Everyone's okay. Now we'll take Kaalki, and go in an hour." Adrien said as they both got up to get dressed.
---------------------------
"I'll knock on the door," They both said simultaneously.
"No, you can go."
"No, you can go"
"No, you-" Before they could finish, a butler had already opened the door.
"Greetings. My name is Alfred Pennyworth, and I'm the Wayne Butler. Welcome to Wayne Manor." Alfred said as he showed them the dining room.
.oOo.
"Thank you Monsieur Alfred for the wonderful meal," Marinette said, and Adrien nodded as well, as she finished her meal.
"You're Welcome Young Miss," Alfred said, as he collected her plate.
"Now let me introduce everyone. You know me as Bruce Wayne, but here are my sons, Richard Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and my biological son, Damian Wayne"
"..Nice to meet you," Marinette said shyly, as she tried to avoid eye contact.
.oOo.
After all the introductions, they were finally back home.
"See Mari, I told you it wouldn't be that bad." Adrien teased as he got ready for bed.
Surprisingly, Marinette was already in bed, on her laptop.
"Adrien?" Marinette asked as she turned to look at him, while he entered the bed.
"Yeah?" He answered.
"What if we moved to Gotham?"
