Music was blasting so loud but that wasn't what your ears cared about. All you could focus on was Sirius’ voice, the words brushing his pretty pink lips. Lips you once kissed, at a party like this one. You hoped you could kiss him more, but you were his best friend. And he was a player.

You weren’t the first girl he kissed drunk but probably the only one he didn’t lead to his bedroom after. You didn’t know what it meant, you hoped he contained himself because he cared about you and not wanted you to think you were just a one-night thing.

Something was signalling you you were right, he had fewer and fewer night partners as you grew closer. You still needed to figure it out further but you didn’t have to worry about it right now.

Because right now, Sirius was so so close to you and you needed a lot of self-control to stop yourself from closing the gap between both your mouths. You wondered if Sirius knew how beautiful he was. Sure, he knew he was handsome but beautiful? Probably not but you hoped he would one day.

“How can you be so pretty?” Sirius whispered, his lips against your ear and it made you shiver more than it should. 

On his side, Sirius was actually terrified. What a shitty situation was to be in love with his best friend. And as he looked down at you, taking notes you wore the stars earrings he loved so much, he could only remember the way your lips felt on his. He missed and craved the feeling. 

He ignored from where came the confident all of a sudden but he welcomed it with pleasure. Normally he would be flirty but not so honest, he would try to charm you as a joke (because best friends flirt with each other ironically, right?) but this time he just wanted you to know how endearing you looked to him. And he didn’t even drink as much as he did usually, and neither did you.

Everything around the both of you slowed down when he pronounced these words, nothing was existing anymore. Sirius couldn’t describe the sensation, he wanted you more than anything but he was scared you only saw him as a player and didn’t want anything serious with him. And if only you could know how much he loved you, he missed you anywhere and anytime. At least, as your closest friend, it was so easy to follow you around everywhere.

But before he could do anything, you leaned in, your hand cupping his cheek, tilting his head down. Your lips reached for his, and he let himself get lost in the kiss, his hands quickly around your waist. Kissing you sober was maybe one of the best things that happened to him. The warm sensation in his stomach, the heat creeping up his cheeks.

You pulled away for air with a smile, in front of you Sirius, as happy as you were. His forehead fell against yours, and even with all the euphoria from the previous kiss, one question burned his lips.

“Are you mine?” he whispered

Your smile widened, and you touched your nose with his before pulling him into a second kiss. This one was quicker, you needed to answer.

“I’m yours”

I recently rewatched The OC, and something that stood out to me was Julie saying how Marissa is like Jimmy while Kaitlin was like Julie. What characteristics would say Marissa gets from Julie & Jimmy as characters?

Honestly, I don't think Marissa is like either of her parents; she's a much better person than either of them and seems to have forged her own personality and being without (or rather despite of) them.

I mean, Jimmy is supposed to be this "good guy" but he's so weak, so indecisive, has no clue how to actually be there for his family and just continually messes up, while Julie is a self-centered narcissist, entirely too concerned with status and wealth.

Neither parent is a good role model and Marissa's sweet, compassionate and forgiving nature seems to be entirely her own.

I wouldn't say a set time or day, just whenever I have some free time. But I do have a "ritual" of sorts. Before I start writing I read a few pages from one of my favorite poetry books. Sometimes I re-read some pages from one of my favorite books too. That usually sets me in the mood to start writing.
