A Marvel Family Fantasy AU
A few days ago, I randomly dreamt of Drawing Billy and Tawny in a fantasy setting.
Tumblr media
Billy was this kid wizard and Tawny was his companion (or an animal to ride on like a horse)
Then it got me thinking, maybe in this setting, Mary could be someone of high status in this fantasy setting (since she's in a rich family in the golden age comics)
I'm inclined to think Freddy would be a captain of a ship for irony-sake but I have a feeling pirates and fantasy settings don't match well?
It's just funny for me to think of him with a peg leg xD
After further discussion with @the-brash-spud :
Warning: Too many text :>
These are the ideas we have so far (if there are quotation marks, those ideas belonged to @the-brash-spud ):
Maybe Billy and Mary were prince and princess separated by birth, (i'm not sure if its a kidnapping or the baby got lost on his own) but the wizard founded billy and trained him.
At the ripe age of (insert young age below a teenager's), The wizard decided to grant him the power of shazam to turn him into the world's mightiest Wizard!
Captain Marvel!
Wizard dies and then Billy and Tawny have adventures together, maybe helping people along the way (maybe somehow found out that Mary is his sister :p idk)
“ I think you could go angst if you made the wizard get brutally hurt in a battle to protect Billy and the rock of eternity so in a last ditch effort he transports the rock to its own pocket of existence and then giving Billy powers of shazam because its as ready as he'll be able to make the kid :) and it's his last effort for Billy to be protected even if he has to do so himself because he has failed :)) made Billy cry as Wizard turns into dust in Billy’s hands :)))”
Uncle marvel can be a con-man/thief who took pity on Billy or realiz, teaching Billy that the world isn't always honest and he's like, "Billy, don't always give money to the poor on the streets, sometimes they faked their illness to be lazy”
" Billy: "The man in the shadowy corner needs my help."
Uncle: "No, the hell he doesn't!”"
—-
How Billy Met Freddy
Billy probably met Freddy in a bar fight. How did the kid get into a bar?
Billy looked at the man exiting the pub with a bottle.
Billy: Ohh! So this is where you get refreshments here! I wonder If they have enough Milk for Tawny..
Pub sign written NO KIDS ALLOWED!"
*Billy can only read magic scrolls and not regular alphabet*
Cue him meeting Freddy (who's armwrestling with one of the people there)
(Insert Bar fight for some reason because The child decided to drink a white cocktail thinking it was milk and the fact that Billy is a Kid)
“Freddie is definitely that kid having his ass thrown out of the bar/pub/inn”
I'd like to think he and his brother are a team, prolly sailed a ship together.
“Yes, they target slave ships. Unless you wanna go different routes. Then, he is focused on certain nations' flags that have a whole lot of red in them
Also, he goes to the bars just to start bar fights over drunks being mean/nasty to the landlady. The landlady doesn't appreciate it bc now she has a broken table and four broken chairs”
Freddy faces the Captain Nazi equivalent of a pirate [Captain Arian? Like Aryan?] XD, Freddy lost his leg the same way, from his encounter with Captain Arian.
Kit (probably a necromancer or a ghost who's cursed to be bound in the ship Freddy's in, making Freddy more attached to the ship) can still summon crewmembers.
Maybe they both meet mary during the birthday ceremony parade
Maybe Mary snuck off from her family (disguise herself as a regular girl, i know, generic plot) and then meet Billy accidentally
Billy: It's my birthday today!
Mary: What a coincidence! It's mine too!
The-brash-spud: “Billy, in his innocence, thinks ,"There must be something to us sharing birthdays!" While Freddy calls him stupid, Billy tries to get a look at the princes and then cue the lung-fu panda rocket incident, but maybe something else more fitting with Freddy being pulled along”
On an unrelated note, i think Billy knew about Freddy's peg legafter either a pirate slashed it clean and Freddy just used it to bonk his head.
Billy is still screaming from the shock and immediately casted healing spells (i'd like to think everything about billy is lightning based- so yes getting struck by lightning is a healing spell for him :D) Freddy got shocked lmao
And what about boarding Tawny on the ship?
Billy:"Please???"
Freddy: "I'm not letting a tiger into my ship."
Kit who absolutely adores animals: "YES"
Freddy:"NO!”
Kit:" Does he love belly rubs??"
Billy:" yes but you have to ask him politely for his permission-”
Freddy rolled his eyes, realizing he has to clean cat fur everyday off from the furnitures.
___
How did Mary, a royalty tag along with a kid wizard and a pirate?
“Yeah, I guess forced separation would work better. Hell, go with a scenario that will allow them to have Mary with the parents' blessings as long as she's kept safe (she isn't, but that's because she is the danger herself)”
Mary and Billy: "Yay adventure"
Freddy: "Oh great, now I have to take care of two kids and a tiger in my ship!?"
*Freddy looking at Kit and the kids + a tiger playing together, kit seems happy*
Freddy: "...i guess it's alright..”
___
How Freddy and Mary found out about the wizard?
“Hmmmm, maybe Billy takes them to the rock because they were in a pickle, and unforeseen effects happen?
They got surrounded maybe?
Also I can see the aftermath
"You were raised by THE Wizard!? THE Wizard?! A Wizard of legends so often told he is recognisable even if his name was lost?!"
"Oh, his name is Shazam-" *BANG*”
____
Hopefully i could draw these AU ideas, I don't plan on making this into a story, i just like the concept that my dream gave my a few days ago and I’m just expanding it. Sorry for too many text xD
I don't mind if you want to add something to this silly lil AU, It's just a fun thing for me to do :p

The King's Men - Chapter Twelve
Day: Friday, March 8th / 9th* Time: 10:30 PM EST
"Hello?" "Hello, Junior. Do you remember me?" Neil's heart lurches to a sick halt. It isn't his father or Riko, but he would know this voice anywhere. It is Lola Malcolm, one of his father's closest people and one of the two who'd tried teaching Neil how to wield a knife so many years ago. She'd been in and out of their house so many times Neil had thought for a while she lived there with them. She poses as Nathan's personal assistant, but her job is to get rid of the bodies Nathan's circle create. She is worth her weight in gold. Not a single one has ever turned up again. Neil tilts the phone away from his ear and takes a long, slow breath. It doesn't help. His lungs are full of shards of ice, chilling him to the bone and cutting him up from the inside out. It is an age before Neil finds his voice again and he can't keep a thick edge from it. "I didn't give you this number, Lola." "So you do remember me," she says. "Now you see, that's bad, because if you remember me, you remember who you are and where your place is." "I made my own place." "You don't have that right." She gives him a beat to respond, but Neil has nothing. "Are you listening? It is time to go. If you make this difficult for us, you will regret it for the rest of your very short life. Do you understand?" Neil wants to be sick. Lola trashed bodies; she didn't often make them. That was what the rest of Nathan's people were for. Neil remembered faces better than he remembered names, but he can guess who Lola has brought with her. Lola's business partner of choice is her brother Romero, and where Romero goes Jackson is never far behind. The three are Nathan's inner circle. They answer only to Nathan's right-hand man DiMaccio and Nathan himself. Neil could have tried outrunning one of them. He won't make it past three. For a moment he is so scared he can't breathe, but fast on the heels of fright is an irrational and wild anger. He is halfway to winning Andrew's trust, a weekend from his first vacation, and one month from semifinals. There are only four matches left in championships. Neil is so close to everything he wants and Lola is here to steal it away. "Put a hand on me and you'll regret it," Neil says. "Oh, what's this?" Lola says, entertained. "Has the baby finally inherited a spine? Your father will be glad to hear it." "My—" Neil chokes on it. "He is in Seattle. You'll never get me that far." "He is in Baltimore," she corrects him. "His parole hearing was on your birthday. They had to notify his family when his case came up. You must have missed the memo, being dead and all, so I'll fill you in. They made a final decision last week, and the feds swung it so he'd get released back to Maryland this morning. They're hoping being back in familiar territory will make him careless." Neil can hear the savage smile in her words. "Don't worry, kid. They'll never know you stopped by. I'll make sure of it." Neil blinks and see's that zero on his eyelids. He is out of time. For a moment Neil feels the weight of Andrew's mouth against his. He digs his fingers into his lower lip and tries to breathe around them.

IF ONLY TO SAY YOU’RE MINE — LUKE HUGHES
luke hughes x fem! edwards! reader
FAITHLYNN’S 500 CELLY!
🌷: "Is there a reason you're blushing like that?" & “i think I'm in love with you." with Luke.
notes: i listened to Sofia by Clairo on repeat while writing this ngl
Tumblr media
“alright, there are rules.” Ethan tells me.
finally getting the chance to visit my older brother and see him play hockey with his school team is the most exciting part of my year. with Ethan being only a year older than me, we’ve always been close, so being so far away from each other for most of the year sucks.
“rules?” i question, turning my head to look at him rather than out the car window. we’re currently on our way to sophomore house after he picked me up from the airport.
“rules.” he confirms. “number one: you’re not stealing one of my jerseys to wear to the game, so i hope you brought your own.”
“i did.” i give him a single harsh nod.
“good. number two: you are in a house of hockey players, meaning there’s bound to be a game playing on the tv every night. you must watch with us. it’s bonding time so no hiding in my room.” he says. his eyes flicker between me and the road as he speaks and i give him another nod.
“i think i can handle that.” i affirm.
“lastly, rule number three, arguably the most important rule-”
“get on with it, E.” i cut him off and he sends a quick glare towards me before speaking again.
“do. not. crush. on. my. friends.” he emphasizes each word but with this rule, i stay silent. i’ve already stalked his friends instagram accounts, and though they’re all cute, there’s one in particular who’s caught my eye.
“y/n, no.” Ethan whines as he pulls the car into his driveway.
“i can’t control who i find attractive, Ethan!” i argue.
“no! who? who is it?” he interrogates.
“Luke Hughes.” i mumble, unbuckling my seatbelt as he puts the car in park. my brother groans, throwing his head back.
“i guess he’s not the worst one you could’ve chosen.” he admits. sighing, he turns off the engine, unbuckling his seat and proceeding to exit the car. i swing my car door open and hop out, rounding the back of the car where Ethan is grabbing my duffel bag from the trunk. he hands me the bag, starting towards the front door, and i follow in his footsteps, trailing behind him.
as soon as Ethan opens the door, i’m met with loud shouts. Ethan walks towards the noise and i stay a few steps behind him until we reach the living room. four boys are sat on the couch, two playing video games as the other two shout out unhelpful tips, and i recognize them from my insta stalking as Mackie, Mark, Dylan, and Luke.
“guys, this is my sister, y/n.” Ethan voice cuts through the yelling and the room goes quiet, all four boys turning their heads to look at me.
“what’s up? i’m Mackie.” he sticks his hand out for me to shake and i politely do so, feeling awkward already in a house full of guys.
“hey, i’m Dylan.” i shake his hand as well and he gives me a kind smile, easing my nerves slightly.
“hi. i’m Mark.” he gives me a full grin and i smile back, shaking his hand. i look over to Luke, assuming he would introduce himself too, but he just looks back at me with parted lips and slightly wide eyes.
oh. do i look bad? the flight was long, maybe i look rough. this is embarrassing.
“i- uh- Luke.” he tells me, slipping his hand in mine to shake. his cheeks twinge pink and i blush in return.
“nice to meet you guys.” i say.
“yo, Luke.” Mark badly whispers. “is there a reason you're blushing like that?”
the three boys laugh but Luke only flushes darker, and my brother stares at him with an unamused expression.
“keep it in your pants, Hughes.” Ethan’s words are gruff, and he takes ahold of my elbow. “let’s go. i’ll show you to my room.”
*
it’s been two days since i arrived and in those days i’ve gotten inaugurated into the boys group. i’ve joked around with Mackie, Dylan, and Mark, i tagged along to hockey practice, and i joined the guys in watching the Tampa Bay Lightning game, where i learned Dylan was drafted.
though through all of that, Luke and i have still been pretty awkward around each other. we’ve talked of course, and sure, we’ve joked around a little, but it’s been in a different way than the rest of the guys.
i’m currently sat on the couch between Luke and Ethan, watching a Devils game. i started watching the Devils as soon as my brother was drafted by them, so i have no qualms about watching this game.
we all sit at the edge of our seats, watching as Luke’s brother, Jack, has the puck. but it’s three on one and because of that, he’s unable to make the shot on net. the guys groan and i huff.
“where the hell was the defense?! they practically just stood there and watched as he had to try and breakaway from three men! they need to get their shit together and start playing like an actual team.” i rant. i glance away from the tv to see the guys, besides Ethan, all staring at me in shock. “what?”
“i think i’m in love with you.” Luke exhales and i can immediately feel the heat rising in my face as Ethan reaches behind me, smacking Luke on the back of the head.
“w-what?”
“sorry, i- not like, in love, in love.” he clarifies. “you’re just like, my dream girl. you’re kind, you’re hot, you’re funny, you’re into hockey. you’re perfect.”
“ugh, this is disgusting. just kiss already and get it over with. i’ll cover my eyes.”

... And Back: Final Part
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.9k
Summary: Knowing the Turner Brothers killed nearly one hundred people, the FBI, Detroit police, and the Canadian police work hard to figure out three things: Where is Kelly, who has been murdered here, and what will happen when Lucas is caught? That’s not the only thing you have to worry about as a nightmare is about to come your way.
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there are any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated

x
Derek and Emily are working with the Bloodhounds and walking around the property trying to find Kelly and Lucas. It's weird to think you've been with the team for over four years, working nonstop, and these two brothers were out here killing eighty-nine people without you even knowing.
Well, you know now and it's going to stop. However, no matter what you do, how hard you work, or how good at your job you are, there will always be someone out there hurting people for fun. Your job is never going to end.
Some of the Bloodhounds found scent markings on some trees but lost them when they reach a small stream of water that runs in the back of the property. If the dogs lose the scent for good, it's going to be like searching for a needle in a stack of needles.
Meanwhile, Penelope is working hard inside the house trying to figure out what's really going on here. No one kills eighty-nine people and counting without some kind of reason. It doesn't take long to figure out what Mason is researching, and it's actually shocking considering what's going on here.
Mason has been looking for a cure for his paralyzed body. He needs stem cells from people in order to cure himself, but they've all been unsuccessful experiments. Mason deems it right because the people Lucas took were transients, prostitutes, and drug users. He wanted to give their lives purpose by being part of a revolutionary cure.
He claims it's science.
Lucas has drawn what their lives have been like for the past eight years. He's the reason why Mason is how he is. Lucas accidentally pushed Mason down something that paralyzed him, so Mason blames and faults him for something that was an accident, so he has his chunky younger brother kill to help cure something that was Lucas' fault.
You and Spencer leave the barn to tell the others what you've found.
"They were doing experiments for spinal regeneration. He was trying to fix himself," Rossi says.
"How?"
"Stem cell research."
"Wait, this equipment is far too unsophisticated. There's no way it would have ever worked," Spencer says.
"You were a prosecutor, Hotch. Could you convict this guy? A quadriplegic who clearly never touched any of the victims?" you ask.
"I don't know. We need to concentrate on Kelly. We can't worry about the other stuff right now."
"Son of a bitch. He might get away with this. Come on, Rossi. Let's talk to Mason again." You look to the right and see Will leaning against the pig pen just listening in. You hope he doesn't do anything stupid. You and Rossi walk back inside the house and over to Mason who has a slight smirk on his face. "Tell me about how you got hurt."
"Does it matter?"
"Humor me."
"My brother pushed me out of the loft. I wanted to sell the farm. I had just finished medical school. It would have given me a nice down payment on a practice in the city, but the farm was all he knew. He doesn't handle anger very well."
"Is that why you hate him?"
"Hate him? He's done nothing but take care of me every day since then."
"You said not to even try talking to him if we find him. That sounds like you want us to kill him, right Rossi?"
"Sounds right to me."
"That's not hate. That's a favor. My brother couldn't survive without me."
You and Rossi leave the room to join Penelope in the next.
"Did you find anything else?" you ask.
"Nothing that'll help find his brother. There's a cell phone he calls dozens of times a day, but that appears to be off. I tried to activate the GPS locator on it, but I think it's an old phone so that's not gonna work either."
"Will you know if it comes on?"
"I hope so."
"How's it going?" JJ asks when she walks in.
"Just waiting for--" The computer dings and Penelope gasps. "Oh, my God. The phone just turned back on. Oh, my God!"
"Answer it."
"Hello?" Penelope asks.
"Hello? My name is Kelly."
"Kelly? This is Penelope Garcia with the FBI."
"Oh, my God, you have to help me. I'm somewhere in the woods being held by a man named Lucas, and he--"
"Kelly?" Lucas stutters.
"Please help me!"
"Hey, that's mine!"
"Please--"
The call cuts off. Lucas has Kelly somewhere on the property, and you need to find her quickly.
"The phone's disconnected."
"Garcia, can you find the signal?" Rossi asks.
"Yes. I'm hooked on the system. I should be able to--Got it! It's west of here, less than half a mile."
"That's all you can tell?"
"It's the woods. There aren't any reference points."
"We don't need one. I can take it from there. Come on," you urge.
You, Hotch, Rossi, and Spencer meet up with Emily and Derek who are already out in the field. JJ and Penelope stay with Mason in hopes the phone turns back on and Kelly calls again. The Bloodhounds run alongside you to where the last known location of the phone is, but the scent dies off.
She's not here.
"She should be right here. This is where the signal came from," Hotch says. "There's nothing here. Y/N, anything?"
You close your eyes and allow Kelly's panic to reach you. The trail of energy isn't coming from the sides or above you. It's coming from down below. There is a hatch here somewhere that must lead down to a cave.
"They're in a cave. Follow me!"
You lead the group to where the energy trail leads off, and you allow Hotch and Derek to lift the heavy wooden board Lucas tried so hard to hide.
"Kelly!"
"Down here! Don't make any sudden moves when they come down, okay?" she begs Lucas.
"I'm bad," Lucas repeats and whimpers.
"Lucas Turner, this is the FBI."
"Just put your hands up, okay? Everything is going to be okay," Kelly says.
Hotch removes her from Lucas and passes her onto you and Emily. Emily gets her out of the cave but you can't help but look back at Lucas. He's scared and confused, and he doesn't know what is going on.
"Be gentle with him! He's scared!"
Jeff's team doesn't listen and perceives him as a threat. Lucas gets confused enough to where he starts lashing out. He gets up to attack, and that's when Jeff's team starts firing at him.
"Stand down!" you and Derek yell.
The deed is done. Lucas is dead. Will grabbed the nearest gun he could find and shot Mason knowing he was going to get arrested. But hey, at least he got his sister's killer. Both brothers are dead, just like you thought was going to happen.
All you want to do is go home. This case has drained the life out of you. The entire ride home, no one said a word. No words needed to be said. The killings will stop, but you'll have to deal with another murderer the next day.
It's never gonna stop.
"Ready to go home?" you ask Spencer once you two have packed everything away.
"More than you know."
"Can I hold your hand?"
"Listen, it's nothing you did but ever since I was poisoned, I have this fear of germs now. That's all I see everywhere I go. I don't want to get sick again."
"I understand. I'll never do anything that makes you uncomfortable. Can I give you a hug?"
"Yes," he smiles.
You wrap your arms around his waist and kiss the part where his heart is over his clothes. Spencer kisses the top of your head with a loving smile.
Everything is as it should be.
--
He is angry. No, pissed is more like it. He should have never let you go in the first place. You could still be with him safe and sound, and he would never have to worry if he's going to get that one phone call that's going to put him away for life. He's tried to be nice about it. He tried to offer you everything you could need and more.
But no, you'd rather go home to him. He's getting so sick and tired of hearing about Spencer Reid. He stole what was his to begin with.
The man takes inhales from the cigarette longer than he should have before letting out the smoke into the air. He looks down at the man he's just murdered. Blood spatters and pools all over the ground, but there is no one around to witness this. He made sure to pick a desolate road so that he wouldn't get caught.
He's been doing this for a long time, he knows how to evade the law.
He takes another puff of his cigarette before ripping it in two. He drops the untouched side of the cigarette onto the ground and throws the touched side into the trash can inside his car. He removes the latex gloves on his hands and throws them away in the same trash can. He grabs another pair of fresh gloves and slides them on.
There is no way he's going to leave behind any evidence that would incriminate himself.
There is a box on his passenger seat that has items he's stolen from your house. It's so easy to sneak inside when he knows where you keep the spare key. You're always forgetting where you put your keys. It's so like you to be so fucking stupid. Inside the box is a plastic baggie with a cup inside.
When he was snooping around your apartment, he made sure to take the cup you always use, a cup that would have half a dozen good fingerprints on it. With his clean thumb, he presses the latex over the fingerprint so that the print is transferred to the glove. With his left hand, he grabs the murder weapon and transfers the print onto the handle of the weapon.
Once finished, he tosses the weapon into a box in the backseat. There have to be at least seven different weapons with seven different kinds of blood used to kill seven different kinds of victims. All with your prints on them.
Seven victims scattered around where you work and where you live.
The man takes out another baggie filled with the hair he gathered from your hairbrush. You really need to clean that thing. It's like you're begging him to ruin your life. He removes some strands of hair and sprinkles it over the dead body at his feet.
This will ensure that you're linked to this murder along with the six other victims he's done this to. The man lights another cigarette but this time, he smokes it calmly. He leans against his car and takes his time enjoying the fresh air and the night sky. When he's done, he gives this cigarette the same treatment and gets back into his car.
He removes the gloves, throws them into the trash can, and leans back in his head. He thinks about you, the way you smell when you're near him, the feel of your body when he used to sneak into your room when he knew you were asleep, everything about you. You were his first, and no matter how far you move away from him, he's going to remind you that you'll never be able to leave.
If you refuse to listen to him, refuse to come back to him, then he's going to make sure no one will ever see you again as you rot in prison for the rest of your life.
"Sometimes there are no words, no clever quotes to neatly sum up what's happened that day. Sometimes you do everything right, everything exactly right, and still you feel like you've failed. Did it need to end that way? Could something have been done to prevent the tragedy in the first place? Eighty-nine murders at the pig farm. The deaths of Mason and Lucas Turner make ninety-one lives snuffed out. Kelly Shane will go home and try to recover and reconnect with her family, but she'll never be a child again. William Hightower, who gave his leg for his country, gave the rest of himself to avenge his sister's murder. That makes ninety-three lives forever altered, not counting family and friends in a small town in Sarnia, Ontario, who thought monsters didn't exist until they learned that they spent their lives with one. What about my team? How many more times will they be able to look into the abyss? How many more times before they won't ever recover the pieces of themselves that this job takes? As I said, sometimes there are no words, no clever quotes to neatly sum up what's happened that day. Sometimes the day just... ends." - Aaron Hotchner

hi! Can you talk a bit about you jjba dr? (If youre comfy ofc!) ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
an introduction to my jjba dr! ✩₊˚.⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
cw: spoilers for jojo's bizaare adventure!
-> hihi! and yes omg ofcc!! i haven't shifted to my jjba dr yet but i would LOVEE to just ramble all about it if you don't mind 😌 gonna make it all aesthetic and cute too cuz hell yea😍
-> all images used (except the dividers) are from pinterest and full credit goes to the authors of these images :)
Tumblr media
★ . about my jjba desired reality!
right now, i only have one jjba desired reality which the whole thing about is me going on all the adventures from part three to five!
i think in the future i want to have a few more desired realities like one experiencing part two and part six and maybe even more of the parts if i end up finishing the other mangas! i also want to have a jjba dr set in modern times and also a jjba-based reality with kpop idols!
the timeline: in my main jjba reality, i've changed the timeline of some things so i can experience all the adventures in the different parts with the jojo boys in succession one after the other.
for example, when i first shift to this reality, i start with going on the adventures of part three with jotaro and the other stardust crusaders. the events of part four happen a year after the events of the stardust crusaders adventures when me, and jotaro are ordered to go to morioh by the speedwagon foundation to investigate well, jotaro's 'cousin'😭
in this reality, there was no affair 😙 joseph has a daughter and a son: holly and hugo. hugo is holly's younger brother and when he graduates high school, he goes off to japan for university. however, he meets tomoko there and they become a couple. long story short, he gets her pregnant and he never told any of his family, in fear of what they might say about him having a child so young. so that's how there is no affair that makes everyone go crazy, how josuke exists and how i can experience adventures when i'm not an old lady and i don't have to wait like twenty years between each adventure! (lmao)
obviously i can't live without kakyoin being dead and everyone else, so they live in this version 🤗 also, i made dio sort of less? evil? he doesn't actually commit any crimes against other humans (except blood-sucking ew but he doesn't kill anyone and just keeps people hostage as slaves and maids while he does his evil bidding eek) but is just hellbent on 'destroying' the joestar bloodline.
thinking about adding some other people into this reality too? for example, i was really contemplating adding sunghoon into this reality and making him one of dio's sons or something but during part three, he turns on his father and helps us defeat him 😜 this is a possible addition but i'm not sure if i'll go through with this or not!
i also have some generational pact with the brandos (i didn't do it, my grandpa did smh), though i fight with the joestars. long story short, my grandpas was in love with dio and made a pact that he would swear to protect the brando bloodline (my grandpa = speedwagon but dio's version) /hj might explain this later but im still in the works with figuring out how it's going to work and the backstory behind it!

★ . about me!
background: i was born in australia on the (??\??\???? - not sure on the dates and whether i want it to be set in the 80's or the 00's). i was born with a faint, butterfly-shaped marking on my back. none of my parents knew what it meant but as i grew older, it continued to grow darker, and darker. self-conscious of the odd mark etched into my back, i bandaged it up to hide it. i lived a pretty peaceful childhood. however, the after i turned thirteen years of age, very strange occurrences kept happening to me.
there were some instances where things would become heavier or lighter, or where my parents felt as if they were moving in slow-motion or faster than usual. i would get weird dreams, some of the past, and some of the very, far future.
little did i know, this was all the work of my stand manifesting.
not knowing what was happening, i was shipped off to japan to live with my uncle, in tokyo in hopes that my uncle would be able to fix whatever was going on with me. you see, my uncle is a very spiritual man. while he works as an astronomer and a psychologist, he is very knowledgeable in the likes of tarot cards, magic, and otherworldly forces (etc). he did everything he could and that was in his power to try and figure out what was happening to me, since that was his forte and all.
and thus, after years of dealing with these strange incidents, at the age of 15, my stand manifested before me. i was crossing the street, on the way back to my uncle's apartment from visiting a convenience store. however, i didn't notice a car zooming towards me until it was too late. i shut my eyes, assuming it was all over. this was my fate: i was going to die a horrible and painful death. and there was nothing i could to about it.
i shut my eyes, bracing myself for the impact and my inevitable doom.
i waited.
and waited.
and yet, i felt nothing.
the impact never came. the excruciating pain and blast i expected to feel, never hit my body.
i was alive. and completely unscathed. but. . . how?
i wearily opened my eyes and to me confusion and horror, i saw her. i saw a strikingly beautiful but eerie human-like creature floating in front of me. it had it's arms extended out toward the car, which was now moving at an impeccably slow snail's pace.
after standing there in shock for a few seconds, i shook my head and scurried away.
around a few times after this incident, the frequency at which i had those 'weird' dreams dramatically increased. they turned from being a fortnightly, even monthly occurrence, to having those dreams many nights in a row, back to back.
oddly enough, with every dream i was having, i couldn't help but feel they were starting to feel a lot less like dreams but a lot more like visions.
after two weeks of more odd visions and happenings, i finally told my uncle. he was deeply puzzled as he tried to make sense of what was happening to me. and after a few minutes of pondering, something washed over his face.
was it relief? or more confusion?
did he finally work out what was happening to me?
but in the end, all he told me what that if i were to ever run into a man with the name 'Joseph Joestar' he made me promise i were to stick with him if i ever met him.
i asked him who he was, and all he replied with was: "Joseph? oh why, he's just a very good old friend of mine."
and so, i continue my life as usual, trying to deal and overpower these strange incidents and even became familiar with my beautiful and endearing new creature. luckily for me, i was enrolled in an online school so any incidents i would have would hardly leave a scratch on my grades and records.
although, this completely changed in the last year of my high school.
you see, my uncle wanted me to have a 'fun' and 'memorable' high school experience, especially considering it was my last year. and so, he enrolled me into an actual high school, which would change the course of my fate forever.
and what a 'fun' and memorable year it was. . .
(i am so sorry if this is so corny omg this feels so corny sdsdjs)

★ . my stand!
my stand name: Ancient Dreams (In a Modern Land)
statistics: power: B Rank speed: A Rank range: B Rank durability: A rank precision: B Rank potential: A Rank
abilities: weight drop! (weight change): the ability to change the weight of anything. can make objects or people light, or make objects or people heavier. the stand user cannot use this ability on themselves. the ability can be activated by shooting small orbs or energy at the opposing object or person, where they will have a butterfly emblem on them, shaded corresponding to a highlighted moon phase on my stand, which corresponds to the 'levels' of weight taken off the person. flash! (speed manipulation): the ability to change the speed of any object or person. however, this can only be done when the stand makes contact with the object of person. dream telepathy/communication/travelling: has the ability to communicate with others during their dreams, or enter one's dream through a meditative trance, with the help of their stand. the stand user can appear in one's dreams and communicate with the person, and also manipulate their dreams. however, the stand user cannot physically harm their target's through their dreams. rather, it is a soothing and positive technique that puts the target in a state of comfort. dream energy: the stand has the ability to shoot out energy orbs as a way of fighting. the orbs are made of 'dream energy' and can easily damage and slice through objects, depending on the manipulation of the orb. the orbs can be thrown in their pure form, or even me manipulated into whatever the stand user desires. for example, i could turn dream orb into a 'dream sword,' made from the cosmic energy of dreams and fantasy.
appearance: has a slim and feminine appearance. it's body is a gradient and mix of light baby blue, lilac purple and cotton candy pink, with the phases of the moon imprinted on it's chest. it wears a majestic headpiece of a butterfly on it's head, which is coloured a shimmering mix of pastel gold, purple and pink. it's eyes are a deep blur colour, and has transparent blue 'butterfly' wings.

Inez stood at the foot of the bed, glaring at the mess in front of her.
Steve was sprawled out on the large bed, face down, a sheet covering just enough of his ass that she could only see the firm globes swathed in silk.  His strong, large back had red scratches lining it, and it drew an irritated feeling from the pit of her stomach, knowing that someone else was marking up her fiancé even if she didn’t want the relationship with him in the first place.
Steve had managed to confine himself to the bed, his mess of his own seed staining the silken sheets and the women’s clothing that was an obvious afterthought in cleaning himself up in his drunken stupor.
But the women.
The women and the mess they had created was everywhere.
Liquor was spilt on the bed, and puddles of it were pooling on the black marble floor, making the glow from one of the windows fill the room with the scent of stale vodka.
Thongs, dresses, and stilettos led from the hallway all the way to the bed.
One of the girls had barely made it to the bed, and was hanging off of it, ass up in the air while her top half hung to the floor.
Inez sneered and lifted her arms over her head, pondering just how to wake them up.  The barrel of the gun she’d found in Steve’s office grazed her ear while she remembered the life lessons her mother had instilled in her about cheating men.
“Cheating men are like dogs,” her mother said simply, the thick accent sounding like a hiss in the early morning as she put the gun in her daughter’s hand and aimed it at Howard Stark’s groin, “they are stupid and useless when they’re left to their own devices.  They need to be taught lessons.  To-”
“But mommy!” she whined as the tears streamed down her cheeks, “I don’t wanna hurt daddy.  I-“
“That’s why we train them!” she told her daughter as she pointed the gun at her husband, “tell her, Howard!”
“Maria-“
“Your father cheated,” she frowned, snarling at her husband, “because he’s a dog that goes back to his old ways unless he’s reminded!  I’ve given your father everything.  Made this house a home.  Given him your brother and you…gave him the best years of my life.  And how does he repay me?  With fucking your nanny.”
“Mommy-“ the four year old cried, shuddering at the thought of how she was forced hold her father at gunpoint.
“You will be strong!” she told her daughter firmly, while she shook.
“I don’t wanna hurt daddy!”
“Dogs will learn!” she argued as she forced her to pull the trigger.
“Steve…” Inez said gently as her heels clicked around the bed and she moved to the large bay windows, pulling them open so that the light filtered into the room, “Steveee, wake up.”
The man sighed sleepily, flipping over onto his back, “hmmm?”
He reached out but was unsurprised when his hand didn’t come in contact with another body.  What he was surprised about was when the clicking stopped, and the bed dipped.
And then two firm thighs planted themselves on either side of his abdomen.  His cock twitched, blood rushing to the appendage and waking up before he was understanding what was going on.
He groaned happily, his hands sliding up her bare thighs and cupping her plump ass, “one hell of a wakeup call, Inny…thought you didn’t like me, hmmm?  What changed, bunny?  You decide that you’re over playing hard to get?”
“Oh, I don’t like you in the slightest,” she smiled sweetly.  Steve frowned when he felt the cool metallic kiss of his gun pressing under his jaw, “I already woke up your little whores and kicked them out, sweetie.  But I think that it’s time for you and I to talk…husband and wife.”
His hands slid up from her ass, and to her waist, “you really want to start off our marriage like this, Inez?  Holding a gun to my head?  How far do you think you’ll get if you pull the trigger, hmm?  Do you think big brother is going to let you slide if you kill a son of the five families?  If you kill your soon to be husband?”
“The gun may be under your jaw, but it’s just the physical one,” she smiled.  He opened his eyes and glared at her, “you’re the one that asked for my hand in marriage.  You held the metaphorical gun to my head with my brother and forced me to agree to it.”
“You can walk away at any time, Inez…no one is forcing you into this!”
She scoffed, “just like a man to say that.  You don’t understand the duty I have just by Tony agreeing to it…I can’t walk away from this Steve.  You and I both know that.  If I did, I would have more than just a metaphorical gun pointed at my head.  I’d be dodging bullets the rest of my life.”
“So, what is it that you’re hoping to gain from putting a gun to my head, hmm?”
“You know, my mother taught me all about the expectations when I was growing up…taught me that a man should never put his hands on me, despite what she was brought up in…and that a man should know his place just as much as a woman knows hers.”
“And what’s my place, Inez?”
“You demand respect…well so do I,” she said firmly, “you demand loyalty, and honesty, and that I’m a dedicated spouse…well guess what, Steve, so do I.  That means no cheating.  No being a man whore…no lying to me.  If you want this empty mansion to turn into a home, if you expect me to be waiting here for you every night like a good little wife, you must know your place too!”
“That all?” he taunted as he eyed her up and down, “because you crawled into my bed…and while you may have a gun to my head, you’re also straddling me in what seems like the tiniest little pj set you could find…almost seems like you are jealous that I got a little something something before we commit ourselves to each other and you want a taste before we say that cursed ‘I do.’  That what you want, Inny?  You wanna feel what I’ve got underneath this sheet?”
“Do you know what my mother taught me when I was younger, Steve?” she mused, “do you know what I learned from her?  What I learned to do?”
His hands slipped under the thin, short robe she wore, and his brow raised as he pushed her shorts to the side, his fingers tracing deftly along her already slippery folds, “she tell you to always be prepared for your husband?”
She frowned, and her nose twitched as she sneered at him.
Before he could think about it, she’d moved the gun quickly and slammed the butt against his brow, creating a cut on it.
“SON OF A BITCH!” he seethed from beneath her.
It was like she could sense his actions before they happened, and the gun was back up under his jaw keeping him in place.
“Men like you are dogs,” she spat, glaring down at him, “men like you need to be trained, because you’re stupid and useless otherwise…sticking your dick wherever you feel like…thinking you own everyone and everything while you throw temper tantrums over boroughs.  Guess what, Steve!  You don’t own everything.”
Steve clenched his jaw.  There was a large part of him that was pissed off.  No one stood up to him, let alone took it upon themselves to injure him.  Those who would chance it would be dead moments later.
But her…
There was something dangerous and sexy in the way her robe barely covered her.  How her breasts were heaving in anger over the fact that he’d fucked women in their bed the previous night.  How she was holding a gun to his head.
She was jealous.
Steve knew that she wouldn’t shoot him with the way that she looked at him.  And that was when he made up his mind.
He was methodical in his takeover.
Her robe flew open, and Steve noticed the barely there cami that was cropped just beneath her breasts, the silk matching shorts that barely covered her ass.  The fact that she was wearing ‘fuck me’ stilettos, and her legs had instinctively wrapped around his lithe waist while he pressed his hips against hers.
The gun was ripped from her hands, and he’d had it beside her head in a second, while his other hand had grabbed both of hers, keeping her hands pinned above her own head.
Her chest heaved even more, and Steve felt the urge to let go of her hands just to tear her shirt to shreds and attack her chest.
He was turned on beyond belief at how his fiancé had woken him up.
“If I’m a dog, you’re a jealous bitch in heat!” he growled at her as he eyed her outfit once more, “claiming you don’t like me, but coming in here dressed like that.  Scaring off those strippers with a gun and straddling me…you want a piece of me, Inez.  You wanna know if what they were moaning about last night was real…”
Her eyes snapped to his as he ground his erection against her.  Her eyes widened as his cock bumped against her core; the only thing keeping him from sheathing himself in her was the soft satin shorts she wore.
“S-Steve-“
“Oh no, sweetie…you don’t get to do a wake-up call like that and then pretend to be an innocent little thing.  I’m seeing you.  The real you.  The one that no man has ever seen before.  You’re a sexy little minx alright,” he growled sensuously as his lips attacked her neck.  She shivered at the little nips and kisses.  Her eyes fluttered closed as he continued to grind his erection against her.  Her breathing quickened and her back arched upwards, pressing her chest against his.  He smirked, feeling how her nipples had pebbled against him, “you might have been protected when you were younger, sheltered from our big bad world while your parents were alive, but things have changed, Inez.  Now you’re my wife…and I’m going to take what’s mine after we say I do.  I’m going to make you scream my name, and ruin that perfect, slutty little hole.  Before the night is over, I’m going to make you beg me for more…beg me to put a little baby Rogers in you…fuck, if I wanted to put a little bastard in you right now, I think you’d let me.  So desperate for love and attention.  Such a whore for the idea of a good fuck.  You’d let me do it without a second thought.  You’d let me fucking ruin you and you’d love every second of it.”
“S-Steve….”
“Just like that,” he growled as he went back to attacking her neck and moving his lips down over her chest, “only you’ll be screaming it in our big, empty mansion…again and again, and-“
“Steve, wait!”
“No bunny…there’s no waiting,” he growled as he ripped her cami in half and nipped at her breasts, “there’s nothing stopping me from claiming my pretty little bride and making her cum all over my cock.  You wanna train me, baby…go ahead.  Make my cock crave that slutty little hole.  Make me regret bringing those whores home and fucking them in our bed.  Show them all that you own me.  Make that tight little cunt milk my cock every fucking day!”
With every sentence he ground his hips against hers, making his hardened cock rub against her satin shorts.  Through teary eyes she watched the men at the entrance of the bedroom while Steve’s precum mixed with her arousal, ruining the shorts, “S-Steve-“
“I’m gonna ruin you, bunny!” he promised firmly as he shifted his fiance’s shorts to the side and started tapping his cock against her mound, “gonna fuck that cunt nice and-“
“Hey boss…hate to bother ya, but we kind of have a problem,” Sam said from the door.  Steve froze, his head turning to look over his shoulder at the man who’d spoken to him.  Inez’ gaze remained on the man beside him though, horror coating her very soul as Bucky looked like his heart was breaking.  Tears had been streaming down her cheeks while Bucky’s fists remained clenched at his side, “you know…no rush…fuck your girl…but we kinda have an issue with Barton.”
Steve’s head turned back from Sam and Bucky to that of Inez; a dangerous look in his eyes as he stared her down, “we’ll finish this later bunny…but don’t think you’re not getting punished for this little stunt.”
She whimpered as Steve rolled off of her and went to the walk-in closet to get dressed.  Inez pulled at her robe, closing it once more, as her gaze left the two men still at the door.
Sam was chuckling, but Bucky had turned away from her; regret filling every fiber of his being because he didn’t take his shot last night.

Hello, I'm intrigued by "404 Battalion Not Found". Can you tell me more ?
Yes! =D
So, this one was inspired by a line in... General Jocasta, I think? Also borrows heavily from fandom's tattooine slave culture and the lore established in... the Double Agent Vader series?
It's a timetravel fic where Cody wakes up as a tiny clone toddler and basically makes it his mission to save as many of his brothers as he can, by slicing the decomissioning droid and making it sedate rather than kill the decomissioned clones.
This causes more problems than it solves. He has to deal with trying to hide, feed, and supply an exponentially growing cadre of enhanced (and thus bored) toddlers, most of whom have some form of 'disability', some of whom are actually very badly sick.
Eventually, Cody manages to get them a way off Kamino via a freed slave turned cargo freighter pilot, who recruits some other people to help them set up a refugee camp/outpost on a mostly uninhabited planet, where they grow up more or less running wild on a deathworld.
The fic probably isn't going to quite cover this except maybe in an epilogue, but eventually, when the clone wars start, this little colony is going to be like 'those are our brothers out there, dying for no good goddamn reason' and call for volunteers to make up a rescue battalion that everyone else is very absolutely sure should not exist.
Hence the title.
The fic was originally meant as a short backstory oneshot to a bigger Cody/Mace timetravel fic I had planned, but it grew out of control on me (as per usual with my backstory ideas ^^"). The first chapter needs some serious reworking, and I'm still a couple chapters away from finished, but it's mostly plotted out, I just wandered away from Star Wars before I quite managed to finish it.
Have an excerpt:
Warily, Gerda looks around the cockpit, paying more attention to the little things. The drawer under the dash isn’t quite shut, though nothing seems to be missing when she opens it to check. There’s a scuff-mark on the arm of the co-pilot’s chair that Gerda’s pretty sure she would have noticed before now. If it weren’t for the missing crates, she might have dismissed it all, but with everything put together, she’s pretty damn sure something’s not right here. She gets up, planning to go tell Eedi they’ve had an intruder on the ship, only to freeze in place, half-turned and half-upright, when she spots said intruder attempting to back away down the corridor to the bunkroom.
It’s a toddler.
A human or close-human toddler in a grey onesie, their skin only a little lighter than her own, but their hair dark instead of ruddy, cropped short and just a little curly, staring at her with an almost angry look of defiance on their chubby little face.
“Hi,” Gerda says, for lack of anything better to say.
“Hullo,” the toddler says, slow and wary. They don’t sound frightened, but their eyes dart around the cockpit in a way that suggests they’re looking for a rescue, or an escape.
Slowly, Gerda stands up properly. The kid clenches their jaw as they stare up at her. Gerda crouches down, a little awkwardly between the two pilot’s seats, and offers the kid a smile. “I’m Gerda, and this beautiful lady is the Tanager,” she introduces, patting the pilot’s seat as she names the ship. “What’s your name?”
The kid’s eyes narrow at her. “Cresh-Cresh-Twenty-Two-Twenty-Four,” they say, rattling the number off by rote, and a chill goes down Gerda’s spine.
“That’s a number, not a name,” Gerda says, very softly. The kid – Gerda is not going to call him by a registration number, she is not – only blinks at her, not even confused past the wariness he’s still regarding her with. “Is that what people call you here?”
The kid nods. “My brothers call me Twenny-Four,” he offers.
“Brothers?” Gerda asks, pulling up a mask over her growing horror, a mask she hasn’t wanted to use or had to use in years. A mask she’d hoped she’d left far behind her. “I have a brother, too. Well, he’s my wife’s brother, which makes him my brother, but there’s only one of him. How many do you have?”
“Ten-thousand-one-hundred-and-five,” the kid answers, then shrugs. “Less than that.”
Gerda’s going to scream. “Less?” she asks, even though she doesn’t want to know. She does not want to know. …She needs to know, anyway.
“The defective ones get taken, and they don’t come back,” the kid explains. They – he, probably he if he’s calling them all brothers – still haven’t stopped watching her like she’s a threat, despite the factual, bland way he’s been answering her questions. He’s one eerie kid, Gerda can’t help but think. His vocabulary is too good and his diction is only slightly warped by childishness. “Some didn’t come out of the tubes right, but they took Eighteen because he cried too much and Twenny-Six because he was growing feathers instead of hair.”
“Do you know where they took them?” Gerda asks around the lump in her throat.
“The decommissioning centre,” the kid answers dutifully. Gerda closes her eyes and takes a moment to just breathe through the horror. Kids. Babies, killed because they cried too much. Gerda’s no stranger to the horrors of the galaxy, but there’s something about the clinical wording and the kid’s well-trained apathy that shatters her own carefully built defences.

Baiken, Anji, and Delilah as Gym Leaders
(because none of you can stop me)
Delilah:
- Psychic Type, obviously. Runs the gym with her brother, and depending on which version you have you either fight her or him. In the version where she’s the Leader Bedman is too sick when you first arrive in town to fight you so Delilah refuses to operate the gym without him. The mini-plot of her city has you convincing her, through stopping the resident Evil Team(TM) and some supportive words from Bedman, that she can do this on her own and Bedman won’t see it as her trying to get out of taking care of him.
- Gym layout like a funhouse, mirrors teleporting you to specific locations annotated by the color of the mirror border. Player needs to press switches in certain spots to make mirrors switch colors until they reach Delilah at the back.
- Team: 1)Duosion 2)Gothorita 3)Beldum 4)Gardevoir. Awards you with The Broad Mind Badge!
Anji:
- Fairy/Bug Type, as in all of his pokemon are either Fairy Bug or both. Early game gym leader, either the very first or second one the player meets. Makes an impression by constantly running off from the player before they could ask him why he isn’t at the gym and only giving them vague hints that lead the player all around town, seeing all the sights. And, coincidentally, running into the Evil Team(TM) mid plotting and getting them to run off. When confronted he simply laughs and says, “who? Me? All I did was run around! You were the ones doing clean up, good job on your initiative!”
- Gym is a dense forest with multiple paths branching off from each other. Player needs to find which ones lead deeper in and which simply loop back to the entrance. Each real path has a mark that’s easy to miss unless you’re looking very closely. Every time you loop back to the entrance you get a mocking call from Anji through the megaphones around the gym.
Team: 1)Venomoth 2)Dottler 3)Mawile. Grants you the Gossamer Badge!
Follows the player around even after they complete the gym, and is key in unraveling the plot of the Big Bad(TM). Eventually reveals himself to be part of the Elite Four, where he apologizes for giving you the run around and for not being honest, “I trusted you to be fine on your own thus far...now, you’ll have to prove that you can make it even further!”
Team 2: 1)Togekiss 2)Scolipede 3)Grimmsnarl 4)Vivilion 5)Volcorona
Baiken:
- Steel Type, last one before Victory Road. On the route before you enter her city a bunch of Evil Team(TM) grunts gathered right outside...and refusing to go in, trying to get their nerve back by fighting you. When you get into the city most of the people there only have nice things to say about their resident Gym leader, though every thing nice they have to say ends with a comment about how scary she is. A few older ones wonder how long she’s been a gym leader since they’re pretty sure she’s been in that position since they were kids. You find Baiken chatting in a cafe with Anji about the Plot and she’s yelling at him for being a sneak and lying to her and Dellah about what he’s doing. She sees the player and goes, “tch, so you’re the one Anji’s been jerking around? Fine, meet me in the gym when you’re ready.” As she walks off Anji bids you good luck and tells you, cryptically, that you’ll meet again soon enough.
- Gym is a Dojo with multiple wooden panel doors between the exit and the back. Each door only opens if you insert a sword with the correct color into a scabbard on a nearby wall. Each door has two trainers that will give you one of two swords of different colors, but won’t fight you unless you talk to them. If you pick a fight with one after getting the right sword they’ll chide you for wasting your strength on fights you don’t need to have.
Team: 1)Aegislash 2)Scizor 3)Bisharp 4)Metagross, tosses you the Blade Badge! Tells you she’s impressed, and that Anji is as clever as he is sneaky. Waits for you at the entrance to Victory Road to open it for you. When she does a bunch of Evil Team(TM) grunts show up and she tells you to go ahead, she’ll clean up the trash.

((is there anywhere you've shared your particular interpretations of canon in-depth? if not, could/would you? im very intrigued 👀))
( Not coherently! It’s something I intended to do during previous rounds of activity, but it always got away from me. I suppose there’s little point in putting it off anymore. So read on below for a lengthy exploration of what makes my Actor who he is.)
So, starting from the beginning.
Actor Mark and William grow up together in the Manor, with Celine and Damien as twin siblings in the same community. I can see Mark and William as either friends or brothers, but the primary canon is adopted siblings. Regardless, all four grow up together as friends.
Mark meets Abe at school, probably around 12-14, and he’s rather delighted by how special it feels to have a friend outside of the group, so he doesn’t much strive to join the two. Damien also meets the future DA in school, I imagine around the same age. Again, it’s discovered to be rather lovely to have a friend outside the group, so Damien too does nothing to join them. Mark and Celine are noticing one another more seriously by this stage, gradually growing closer as they grow older.
Actor Mark’s career takes off right out of school, and so too does his romance with Celine rapidly pick up its pace. High school sweethearts become engaged become married over the span of a few years. Damien drifts away from the friend group, as does William, busily pursuing their own careers, though they do still put in appearances to support their friends. Damien is at every performance Mark ever puts on. How can he not? His friend is brilliant, for all his ego.
Shortly after they marry, Mark and Celine can already feel the strain. Celine constantly talks about downsizing, about relocating, about vacationing. At first Mark indulges her wanting to take weekends away, long weekends, extended holidays. Especially when he’s working on a project, he doesn’t mind if she doesn’t want to stay home alone. She travels and stays on site with him, or wanders off to do her own thing. He adores their late night calls and seeing pictures of her adventures. Celine is strong and beautiful, he could never cage her beyond the ol’ ball and chain of marriage.
Their first year of marriage has rough spots, but Mark is still largely thinking positive. His career is exploding, he’s at the top of his game!
The first big crack in the foundation appears when they address their efforts for children. Mark doesn’t want bad news, but so far their vigorous attempts on their own have not yielded results. He resists seeking medical assistance. Celine of course goes on her own while he’s working.
Their chances aren’t nonexistent, but they’re slim. The reasons are… vague, and complicated. Anomalous.
It creates a rift that only widens whenever Celine mentions two people not needing such a lavish home as the Manor. The negative energy she insists looms overhead.
Mark refuses to give up on the dream, refuses to accept such ‘quitter talk’. He paints vivid pictures of their future and the Manor of course is part of that picture. His childhood home! William doesn’t want it and he refuses to let it lapse into obscurity.
By now, the Entity has itself curled tightly around Mark. Every year lived there has been another tangling, shadowy limb twining itself around him.
William, too, still feels his old home’s effects after so many years, but traveling abroad makes the weight far less cumbersome.
Celine grows distant. She stops arguing. Mark feels the divide but he feels it’s still one that can mend. His career demands much of his attention, but his heart still belongs to her. However he finds his wife lingering at home less and less. She travels more, even when he’s not working. When she is home, they now end up fighting. Viciously. The Entity has no use for their childish romance.
Celine meets up with William on one of her trips abroad, and old possibilities become ill-advised indulgence. I waffle on whether or not Celine truly loved William or if she simply needed an outlet. I believe William thought he loved her, but I can’t confess to knowing if some distant tugging from shadowy influence didn’t guide him to overstep whatever loyalty he might have still held toward Mark…
The distance between Mark and Celine grows. The Manor starts to feel far, far too empty. Too dark and quiet, and yet far too loud—
Damien visits more frequently, trying to fill the void for his dear friend. Mark is by turns appreciative and sad or angry and defensive. His mood swings wildly day to day, sometimes morning to night. The longer it goes on, the more intense and frequent the swings become.
Mark’s paranoia grows as the shadows loom at night. The Manor threatens to swallow him whole. He reaches out to his old friend Abe.
Abe takes the job, and brings back pictures.
The divorce is ugly. Celine leaves him everything and they sign the papers separately, through lawyers. William firmly stops responding to letters and calls from home.
Mark spirals, and Damien does all he can for him. Others admonish him, warning him against putting too much focus off his career. He’s running for Mayor, after all. There’s much pressure on him to perform. But Damien sticks by Mark as he self-destructs, managing the damage and patching him up again every time, as best he can.
Mark makes it for some time like this. (This period, looking back, is his most shameful barring The Incident.)
Then comes the night he finally breaks Damien’s will. He’s cruel enough, convincing enough, with enough wine stewing in him to flatten a smaller man, that Damien steps back. Mark’s final friend promises to come back in the morning, when he’s feeling less mean and more sober.
Mark has no intention of making it that long.
He finishes his wine and he decides, once and for all, that he’s exiting this poor excuse for a stage play.
The Entity refuses to let him go. Instead he is introduced to the Void.
He awakes from his failure and despairs. Damien’s morning return is met with a man that, normally cast in vivid shades, looks pale and washed out.
Damien’s next several visits meet the same ghost of a man, as the Actor grapples alone with what has become of him. He cannot die. And those whispers he’d heard all his life around corners are now in his head.
Where before the Entity had only been able to use external influence, now it’s grasp on Mark is far more absolute. That voice feeds every negative thought and impulse and feeling that Mark has ever had. His paranoia and vitriol bleed from him as those shadowy tendrils keep the wounds raw and gaping. He closes himself off, and submerges himself into what feels like his only true ally, the thing that tells him everything he most wants to hear.
He loses his will several more times over this period and makes further attempts to free himself from this narrative, and every time his worsening body is forcibly reanimated again come morning, after untold hours spent within the Void’s grasp once more.
And then, gradually, the Plan is hatched. Mark’s suffering is warped into righteous vengeance. He deserves a better story than this, doesn’t he? And William deserves to be punished for his crime.
And so the Poker Night is planned. At its core, all Mark wants is to steal William’s body while also framing him for his own murder. William will be trapped in the Void, and Mark can start over. But inviting over William alone would be suspicious. And only inviting William and Damien also would look suspect. So Mark extends an invite to Abe as well, while also hiring him to investigate his once-friends prior to the evening, and tells Damien he’s welcome to bring his friend, the DA.
The party itself goes off without a hitch. And when everyone is plastered, it’s easy enough for Mark to lure William to the cellar and arrange his ‘murder’ with a little game of Russian Roulette.
The events of WKM proceed as we all understand them. While the party goers try to solve the murder, and William skulks around (thanks to his own tethers to the Manor) trying to avoid Damien and any blame, Mark is in the background trying to orchestrate a body heist and escape to his new future.
Celine’s arrival is what throws a wrench into Mark’s plan. The Entity assures him that all is not lost, though, and suggests an alternative plan (while convincing Mark it’s his own plan of course): obviously Celine’s power would prevent him from pulling off his switch. But allowing the Entity to claim her would leave him free and clear to find his new host. Whoever that host may be is, of course, less important than finding one at all, isn’t it? Didn’t Damien also betray him, anyway?
Mark had never considered Damien among his betrayers, but in that moment, with his chances at new life slipping through his fingers and his ex-wife leading the charge against him? He’s easily blinded.
We all know how this story ends. We saw it for ourselves. The Entity succeeds in thieving Celine’s body, and Mark steals Damien’s for himself. The two escape, and the DA finds themself in a position to play host to the two souls left behind. But the arrangement is not so simple and clean as the DA is led to believe. And they are left behind in the Void while the twins - now one entity and yet not - enter the world.
The Actor who makes his appearance in Damien is not an man yet completely free of the Entity’s sway. This man still has shadows in his brain telling him that part of his suffering is due to Damien; and so of course it isn’t unreasonable that his part to play in this aftermath should grow.
The way that Mark insults Abe, the way he so candidly talks about Celine and what she had done and keeping her from doing it again, the way he even claims that Damien is ignorant to act like he has no blood on his hands? To me it all reads as that same ‘righteous’ vengeance that the Entity turned him on to from the beginning.
Damien’s anger here is justified, but the idea that he blames Mark for betraying those who betrayed him first easily feeds into Mark’s misplaced anger and keeps it burning. The way he accuses Mark of not being good enough for Celine cuts deep.
And in the end, it doesn’t matter. As Mark says, there’s no easy ending for them anymore. Because of the Entity, because of Mark, because of Celine. Poor Damien is just along for the ride. So it’s little wonder he decides to finally fully join in.
I feel like this space, where they meet, is some extension of the Void, and it’s this that helps shape how I feel the Actor arranges his stories.
‘ You don’t realize this place is a dream; a never-ending starring role as the hero. ’ The Void is what gave Mark (and William) their odd abilities and experiences. It’s what allowed for bodies to be traded and death avoided. And now, it’s the Actor’s playground.
Mark and the Manor as they exist in reality are fairly lost to time. It’s been decades since that fateful night, his resurgence would make no sense. But as a persona, he can do as he wills and time needn’t make sense. This is how my Actor can interact with Marks that are more like Mark the YouTuber. A conduit for him to the outside world, an explanation for how a man famous for his acting career nearly a century ago is suddenly back in action. He’s a character, clearly! Meanwhile Mark and his Manor live at the edge of the common man’s perception, safely ensconced in that which most cannot understand.
The Actor’s stories are written and mapped into pockets of the Void, where physics and laws need not always be respected. Where death can be escaped. After that it’s a simple matter of the Viewer (or Y/N depending on your interpretations) carrying them through the story, navigating with Mark at their side, meeting characters he’s either written or he’s discovered through exploring the Void.
Do Y/N and Mark meet somewhere and Y/N get lured into the story? Do they accidentally stumble into the story? Do they knowingly cross the threshold? These things are more flexible in my mind and can be easily warped to fit other characters’ canons and interpretations.
Bringing us up to present day, my Actor is currently still writing his version of Space, though I’m letting him play around with people in that story. The universe is only getting more unstable, which explains overlaps and hiccups in canons.
This also means that I headcanon Date, Heist, and Space Mark to be Actor. But, when he isn’t there to fill that role in the story, who knows what could spring from the Void in his place…
Yancy, Illinois, and others like them are of course then not Actor, to me. They’re people that he either wrote into existence, trapped in his story, or they’re people he discovered who were perhaps Void-afflicted prior to their meeting, and through one means or another they’ve found themselves wrapped up in his mechanisms. (Again, this is more fluid for me to best interact with others.)
( I’m sorry that this got so RIDICULOUSLY long, but I hope anyone who actually reads all the way through now better understands my interpretation! Please feel free to send questions for further clarification on anything! )

Prompt #12: Miss the Boat (Gwendolyn)
Tumblr media
Nearly thirty years ago, I was born without a name on a ship called Wavelash to a woman who left her lover on the last shore they departed from. If it sounds like a poor situation, it’s because it was. Nobody dreams of growing up to be a pirate, not really, and my mother was no exception; she wanted to raise horses, of all things. She told me a story once about being a country girl on Vylbrand, and how a traveling circus from the far east changed her world forever when she saw the splendor and majesty of sequined acrobats twisting and tumbling on a moving beast that fulfilled the purpose of a chocobo, but with tightly-muscled grace. Once she caught sight of their braided manes and polished coats, she spent the rest of her days drawing four-legged fancies wherever she could find the room and a tool to make a mark. Unfortunately, reality held no space for a lanky farmer’s daughter and her dreams, and the ocean’s no place for livestock.
My mother, born Racquelle Baker, found herself on Wavelash by good, old-fashioned desperation. Her widowed mother had to feed five children, and the whole lot was one bad season away from starving to death on a dirt patch that could only be loosely referred to as a farm. With this in mind, it’s not hard to do the math about how a middle child goes missing on a ship that promises it only needs a cook for three months and pays fairly. Poverty drives you to places you swear you’d never go, and when your pockets come back heavy for keeping the cauldron bubbling and your mouth shut while your crewmates kill, rape, and loot, why wouldn’t you go back for more? Get a year under your belt with a crew that lovingly calls themselves The Hangmen for the bodies they leave swinging from the masts of the ships they raid, and you can be sure it’s not so easy to give up and go.
She tells me that the man on shore was an act of hope, but I know she uses that word because desperation is too ugly to tell the child that came from it. I get it, though; when you’re newly 18 and you’re in some port whose name you can’t remember, and you miss your mama, and you’re not sure when you’ll be back to Vylbrand again, and this middle-aged man who treated you nicely looks like a rope being thrown to where you’re drowning...well, you lunge for it. But that leaves me with no idea of my full parentage, and it left her the object of a lot of ire when the crew noticed her belly start to swell. Fortunately, she was also a formidable chef (not that any of their tastebuds were discerning), and so long as the kitchen stayed busy, no one gave her any hell she couldn’t handle.
A ship is no place to raise a child, I don’t need to tell you that, but my mother did her best. She shielded me from some of the ugliest the Hangmen had to offer, which is no simple feat when you consider the limited number of places you can stow a child when the booze and the blood start flowing. I can appreciate now that I’m older that there was always some task to busy myself with, and it wasn’t without purpose; cleaning, patching, peeling popotoes, making toys from scrap, drawing maps with charcoal. It ate her alive that she couldn’t give me proper schooling, that I couldn’t make friends with other children my age—the closest one to me was 15 years my senior and killed his own brother, hardly a peer in any sense. I was seven when one of the navigators gave me a bottle of hooch, and I drank enough that I was face-down on the onion sacks less than an hour later. I heard the navigator got bloodied pretty bad, but the guilt must have been immense for the woman actually trying to raise me right.
I can still remember the cautious excitement in my mother’s eyes when she heard about Chief Admiral Bloefhiswyn’s plans to sunset the age of piracy. Word was out that any sailor that gave up their flag could clear their bounties and trade in for a few acres in the La Noscean countryside, and she was ready to give me a better life. But what should’ve been a hopeful overture became a bitter rift on the Wavelash. I can still remember my heart thundering in my ears as we lined up on deck and listened to the captain bellow about freedom, about the liberties we were being asked to relinquish. He railed about the chains of civilization, how they were domesticating wild spirits, and if any one of us sons of bitches wanted to give up what we’d fought for (I can only roll my eyes now that I’ve the wisdom to understand), we could eat two bullets and call it generosity. My mother’s face had never looked so hard.
She had a plan to escape, she told me much later after we’d both put some years between us and the Wavelash times, but it was dashed to pieces when all hell broke loose first. There was an uneasy tension filling the air of the ship after the captain’s ranting, and friendly back-slaps turned to mistrustful side-eyes as the unity crumbled in real time. The ship held together not even a week more as tempers ran hot and conviction shifted to outright disdain for the sins they’d committed in the name of this fool’s paradise. It was a bell that could not be unrung; so many of them had hung on because it was all they thought they could attain, but once other offerings came to the table, it was another landscape all together. Before we could make our graceful slip, the screaming came in the dead of night on placid waters. My mother pressed a flintlock into my hand and told me to stay behind her, but turn it on anyone who meant to harm me. It was only ten minutes and a blur of fire and clashing later that she seized my hand and told me to be brave. We jumped overboard together and let the waves carry us home.

𝙿𝚛𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚗𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 (𝙿𝚝 𝟷)
Dean and a young woman lean close together at the bar.
"Seven, Four, Two, Zero"
"Seven, Four, Two, zero" Dean says, keying into his phone "All right, you're in there. Perfect. So is that Brandy with a 'y' or an 'i'" Sam sits at a table strewn with papers. Sam gestures to Dean, who gives him a 'wait' gesture as he laughs at something the woman whispers. Sam gestures again and Dean's smile drops.
"All right, listen, I gotta go. Hold that thought, I'll be right back, okay?" He approaches Sam, holding three beers"
"Where's Theo?" Sam asks. Dean gestures to the pool table and they see Theo playing game with a man with a stubble beard and curly brown hair.
"Oi! Theo “Dean shouts and she looks over "Come over" She nods and pots the black ball.
"I win" she says, winking at him as she passes him. She goes over to Sam and Dean.
"All right, I think we got something" Dean glances back at the bar.
"Oh yeah, me too. I think we need to take a little shore leave, just a little bit. What do you think, huh? I'm so in the door with this one"
"So, what are we today, Dean? I mean, are we rock stars, are we army rangers?" Theo asks, making Dean grin.
"Reality TV scouts, looking for people with special skills. I mean hey, it's not that far off, right? By the way, she's got a friend over there. Possibly hook you up. What do you think? And Theo already found someone" They look at her as she glances over at the man, she was playing pool with. He winks at her and she smiles at him. She then snaps her attention back to her brothers.
"What?"
"Dean, no thanks, I can get my own dates"
"Yeah, you can but you don't"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. What you got?" Dean asks.
"Mark and Ann Telesca of New Paltz, New York were both found dead in their own home, a few days ago. Throats were slit. There were no prints, no murder weapons, all..." Dean is distracted, continuing to check out women in the bar. Theo keeps sneaking glances at the man she was with.
"Guys! No prints, no murder weapons, all doors and window locked from the inside" Dean drinks his beer.
"Could just be a garden variety murder you know, not our department"
"No. Dad say different"
"What do you mean?" Theo asks. Sam points at a map.
"Dad noted three murders in the same area of upstate New York. First one here in 1912, second one right here in 1945, and the third in 1970, the same M.O. as the Telescas. Their throats were slit, doors were locked from the inside. Now so much time had passed between murders that nobody checked the pattern, except Dad. He kept his eyes peeled for another one"
"And now we got one. All right, I'm with ya. It's worth checking out. We can't pick this up till first thing though, right?"
"Yeah"
"Good" Dean says, heading back to the bar.
"Dean..."
"Ladies...did you miss me?"
"Well yeah" Brandy says.
"I'm just kidding. Listen, I talk to my producers, and it is looking good"
"Great. Cool" Sam sniggers. He looks over at Theo only to see she's not in front of him. He looks back over at the pool table and sees her sitting with the man, drinking a beer together and laughing. Sam huffs a laugh.
"Twins" He mutters to himself, taking a drink of his beer.
==
Dean sleeps slouched in the passenger seat of the Impala, sunglasses on. Theo is in the back, laying across the back seat, also a sleep. Sam walks around the car, leans in and honks the horn. Dean jumps a foot. Theo just sits up, yawning. Sam sits in the driver’s seat, laughing.
"Man, that is so not cool" Dean says, adjusting his sunglasses and mumbling.
"I just swept the Telescas with EMF. It's clean. And last night, while you were.... well...out..." Dean smirks.
"Good times" he says.
"I checked the history of the house. Nothing strange about the Telescas"
"All right, so if it's not the people and it's not the house, then maybe it's the contents. Cursed object or something" Dean says.
"The house in clean"
"Yeah, I know, you said that" Theo says.
"No, I mean it's empty. No furniture’s, nothing"
"Where's all their stuff?" Dean asks.
==
At an auction house, Sam, Dean and Theo wander around, looking out of place in their casual, rough clothing. Dean takes a finger food from a tray. One man especially watches them pass then excuses himself from his companion and moves towards them.
"Confignment auctions, estate sales. Looks like a garage sale for Wasps if you ask me" Dean take more food from a tray on a table as the man moves up behind them.
"Can I help you gentlemen and ma'am?" The man asks. Dean looks him up and down and then puts more food in his mouth. Dean puts on a posh voice.
"I'd like some champagne please"
"He's not a waiter" Theo says, sharply to Dean. He cocks an eyebrow. Sam holds out his hand to the man.
"I'm Sam Connors" The man just looks at him, not moving. Sam moves the hand he's holding out to point at Dean.
"That's my brother Dean" Then points to Theo "And that's my sister Theo. We're art dealers, with Connor Limited.
"You. Are...art dealers"
"Don't sound so suprised" Theo mutters.
"That's right"
"I'm Daniel Blake, this is my auction house. Now gentlemen, ma'am this is a private showing, and I don't remember seeing you on the guest list"
"We're their chuckles, you just need to take another look" A waiter goes past with drinks on a tray.
"Oh. Finally," Dean says, swiping a glass. Dean turns back to Blake, sniffs the glass, raises his eyebrows then turns and walks away. Theo follows them Sam hastily follows, shooting Dean dirty looks.
"Cheers" Sam, Dean and Theo check out the items for auction and are drawn to the painting of the family.
"I fine example of American Primitive wouldn't you say?" A voice says. The three turns to see a sleek, classy, and a young woman in a black dress, coming down a spiral staircase. They both stare at her as she turns her back while taking the final part of the stairs. Sam and Theo turn back to look at the painting again and Dean, oogling, slaps Sam on the back and continues staring.
"Well, I'd say it's more Grant Wood than Grandma Moses. But you knew that, you just wanted to see if I did" Sam says.
"Guilty. And clumsy. I apologize. I'm Sarah Blake"
"I'm Sam. This is my.... brother, Dean and sister Theo. Dean continues to stuff his face from passing trays, Theo waves at Sarah
"Dean. Can we get you some more mini-quiche?"
"I'm good, thanks" Dean says, mouth stuffed.
"So, can I help you with something?" Sarah says to Sam and Theo.
"Yeah, actually. What can you tell us about the Telesca estate?" Theo asks.
"The whole thing's pretty grisly if you ask me, selling your things this soon. But Dad's right about one thing, sensationalism brings out the crowds. Even the rich ones"
"Is it possible to see the provenances?"
"I'm afraid there isn't any chance of that" Blake says, coming up from behind them.
"Why not?" Theo asks.
"You're not on the guest list. And I think it's time to leave"
"Well, we don't have to be told twice" Dean says in a horrible posh voice.
"Apparently you do"
"Okay. It's all right. We don't want any trouble. We'll go" Dean raises his eyebrows and walks off, Theo following. Sam and Sarah exchange a long look before he follows.
"Dad that was just rude"
==
Sam, Dean and Theo approach their motel room.
"Grant Wood, Grandma Moses?" Dean asks.
"Art history course. It's good for meeting girls"
"It's like I don't even know you" Dean says unlocking the room. They enter the rooms. The do not disturb door hanger is a silver outline of John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever. Disco music accompanies the camera as it pans across a totally over the top retro 70s disco fantasy room. The three looks from one side of the room to the other and pause.
"Huh" The three say in unison. They move into the room, dumping their bags.
"What was...providence?"
"Prov-e-nance. It's a certificate of origin, like a biography. You know we can use them to check the history of the pieces, see if any of them have a freaky past"
"Huh. Well, we're not getting anything out of chuckles, but Sarah..." Dean snaps his fingers at Sam, smirking. Sam smirks back.
"Yeah, maybe you can get her to write it all down on a cocktail napkin"
"Not me" Dean says laughing.
"No no no, pick-ups are your thing Dean"
"It wasn't my butt she was checking out" They exchange a look.
"In other words, you want me to use her to get information"
"Sometimes you gotta take one for the team. Call her" Theo says.
==
Sam and Sarah are sat at a table in a restaurant.
"Nice place"
"Yeah" There is a long awkward pause "Glad you called. Suprised, but glad"
"Yeah"
"Although you seemed to have a hard time getting out the words "Would you like to have dinner" she says.
"Ahh...yeah. I haven't really been on a date in a while"
"Welcome to the club" Sarah seems suprised.
"You're kidding me" A waiter comes over.
"Here we are. The wine list" Sam looks totally uncomfortable, flipping pages randomly.
"I don't know about Romeo here but I'll have a beer" The waiter then turns to Sam.
"And you?" He asks. Sam smiles.
"Make that two" Minutes later the two are still talking "So you studied art in school huh?"
"It's true. I was an artist. A terrible, terrible artist, And that's why I'm in the auction business. And you were pre-law?"
"Yeah"
"But you didn't go to law school. How come?" Sarah asks.
"Ahh, that's a really, really long story for another time"
"You're not like any art dealer I've ever met" They exchange another long look.
"So, what did you mean when you said you haven't been on a date in a while. Trying to make me feel like I'm not such a loser?"
"I'm sure you're many things Sam. I'm also sure loser isn't one of them" They exchange more long looks "It was my mom. She died about a year ago. Totally unexpected. It really threw me. I went into this shell. A nice warm safe shell. But lately I've been thinking. It's not what she would have wanted for me. So..." They exchange even more long looks" So what about you? You're a reasonably attractive guy" Sam laughs, embarrassed.
"Reasonable?"
"Why haven't you been out and about?" She asks. Sam thinks, looks at her, loses his smile and thinks some more. Sarah watches him "Another long story for another time" Sam nods slowly.
==
Back in the motel room, Dean is sharpening his blade on a whetstone, Sam is looking through some papers and Theo and sitting on the chair watching the two.
"So, she just handed the providences over to you"
"Provenances"
"Provenances?" Dean says, haltingly.
"Yes. We went back to her place; I got a copy of the papers..."
"And?" Theo asks.
"And nothing. That's it. I left"
"You didn't have to con her or do any...special favours or anything like that?" Dean says and Y/N snorts.
"Dean, would you get your mind out of the gutter, please?" Dean laughs.
"You know when this whole thing's done, we could stick around for a bit"
"Why?"
"So, you could take her out again. It's obvious you're into her, even I could see that. Plus, I think Theo wants to spend more time with a certain someone" Theo snickering stopped, and she turned to glare at Dean.
"I'll give you to the count of three to run" She stands up "1...2...-"
"Hey, I think I've got something here" Dean sighs in relief and goes over to Sam. Theo huffs and follows. Sam hands Dean the papers.
"Portrait of Isaiah Merchant's family, painted 1910" Dean reads.
"Now compare the names of the owners with Dad's journal.
"First purchased in 1912, Peter Simms. Peter Simms murdered 1912. Same thing in 1945. Oh, same thing in 1970" Theo says, checking against the journal.
"They stored, until it was donated to a charity auction last month. Where the Telescas bought it. So, what do you think, it's haunted? or cursed?" Dean gets up.
"Either way, it's toast"
==
Dean leaps and easily scaled the meter high metal gates of the auction house and sprints into the mist.
"Come on!" Theo follows, then Sam. Sam, wearing gloves, disarm the security alarm.
"Go ahead" Theo, also with gloves, picks the lock. They shine their flashlights around inside, quickly searching for the painting. Dean spies it upstairs and they sprint up the spiral staircase. Holding his flashlight in his mouth, Dean flicks his switchblade and cuts the painting from its frame. They're in and out within a couple of minutes.
==
The painting lies in the dirt, Sam holding the flashlight, Theo looking around to make sure no one is there and Dean prepares the matches.
"Ugly ass thing. If you ask me, we're doing the art world a favour" He drops the match and the painting ignites.
"Anyone got any marshmallows?" Theo asks. The boys look at her and rolls their eyes playfully.
==
Now, back in the motel room, Dean rushed in from the bathroom.
"We got a problem-I can't find my wallet"
"How is that our problem" Sam asks, packing his duffel.
"'Cause I think I dropped it in the warehouse last night" Theo looks horrified.
"You're kidding right?" She speaks.
"No. It's got my prints, my ID, well my fake ID anyway. We gotta get it before someone else finds it. Come on"
==
Sam, Dean and Theo hurry around, looking everywhere in the auction house. Sam seems frustrated.
"How do you lose your wallet, Dean?" Dean throws his hands in the air and keeps looking. Sarah walks in and sees them.
"Hey guys!" She says, smiling. The three spin around, then try and act cool.
"Sarah! Hey"
"What are you doing here?" Sarah asks.
"Ahh, we...we are leaving town and, you know, we came to say goodbye" Dean and Theo stole over.
"What are you talking about Sam, we're sticking around for at least another day or two" Sam looks at Dean, confused. Dean gets his walled out of his picked and looks meaningfully at Sam.
"Oh, Sam. By the way. Dean's gonna go ahead and give you that $20 he owes you" Theo looks to Sarah "He always forget, you know" Sam looks at them, disbelieving.
"There you go" Dean says, holding out the cash, smiling. Sam snatched the cash from Dean, glaring at the two.
"Well, we'll leave you two crazy kids alone, we gotta go do something...somewhere" As the two walk away, they fist bump each other and laughs.
"So..." Sam says awkwardly.
"I had a good time last night.
"Yeah, yeah. I did too"
"Maybe we should do it again sometime"
"You know. I'd love to, I really would, but Dean and Theo, they were just screwing around. We really are taking off today.
"Oh. Oh. Ah that's too bad" Sam sees the painting of the one they burned being carried past.
"OH MY GOD!"
"What?" Sarah says, jumping and turning to look.
"The...that painting...looks so good!"
"If you can call that monstrosity good, then...yeah, I guess"
"So... what do you know about that painting?" Sam asks.
"Not much-just that it creeps me out. We sold it to the Telescas at a charity auction the night they were murdered"
"Yeah, and now you're just going to sell it again?" Sam asks, his voice raising.
"As much as my dad wants to, no, I won't let him. I think it'd be in bad taste"
"Good. Yeah. You know what? Don't. Don't. Make sure you don’t, okay?"
"Why? Don't tell me you're interested in that?" Sam is flustered and starts backing up.
"No. No, God, no. Not in buying it, no. You know what, I gotta go, I gotta take care of something. But umm, I will call you back...I will call you; I'll see you later"
"Wait, so you're...not leaving tonight?"
"No-o-o, I guess not. I'll see ya"
"O... kay" Sarah says looking after him, confused.

Reading I
---------
Eph 4:1-7, 11-13
Brothers and sisters:
I, a prisoner for the Lord,
urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience,
bearing with one another through love,
striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace:
one Body and one Spirit,
as you were also called to the one hope of your call;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.
But grace was given to each of us
according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
And he gave some as Apostles, others as prophets,
others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,
to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,
for building up the Body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of faith
and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,
to the extent of the full stature of Christ.
Responsorial Psalm
---------------
19:2-3, 4-5
R.    (5)  Their message goes out through all the earth.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day pours out the word to day,
and night to night imparts knowledge.
R.    Their message goes out through all the earth.
Not a word nor a discourse
    whose voice is not heard;
Through all the earth their voice resounds,
and to the ends of the world, their message.
R.    Their message goes out through all the earth.
Alleluia

See Te Deum
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
We praise you, O God,
we acclaim you as Lord;
the glorious company of Apostles praise you.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
-------
Mt 9:9-13
As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
    I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
“I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
Among the four evangelists, only Matthew and John were apostles.  Mark and Luke did not, as far as we know, ever meet Jesus during His earthly life.  Nonetheless, Mark and Luke were disciples of Peter and Paul, respectively, and from those two Mark and Luke received the apostolic witness to the Good News.
On this feast of St. Matthew, we also ought to keep in mind that while all four accounts of the Gospel are apostolic in origin, each presents a unique portrait of the Messiah.  If a man has four very close friends during his life, then after his death each of those four would likely write a different biography of their common friend.  Each account of his life would reflect the biographer’s interactions with him.
Today’s Gospel passage presents Matthew’s own account of how Jesus called him to serve.  Matthew is strikingly honest about his sinfulness.  In light of his own need for mercy, Matthew presents Jesus’s own vocation through the words that the Lord speaks at the end of today’s Gospel passage:  “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”  God the Father called His divine Son to carry out this mission, and that Son extends here to Matthew a share in that mission.
The First Reading might seem fitting today because of St. Paul describing various roles within the Body of Christ, such as apostle and evangelist, both of which Matthew was.  However, consider the beginning of this passage, where Paul describes the Christian’s need for humility and patience, so as to bear “with one another through love”.  These words echo Matthew’s description of how Jesus called himself.

DAILY SCRIPTURE READINGS (DSR) 📚 GROUP, Wed Sept 21st, 2022...Wednesday of the Twenty Fifth week in Ordinary Time, Year C...Feast of Saint Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. ...SAINT OF THE DAY
Saint Matthew
(c. 1st Century)
Saint Matthew’s Story
Matthew was a Jew who worked for the occupying Roman forces, collecting taxes from other Jews. The Romans were not scrupulous about what the “tax farmers” got for themselves. Hence the latter, known as “publicans,” were generally hated as traitors by their fellow Jews. The Pharisees lumped them with “sinners” (see Matthew 9:11-13). So it was shocking to them to hear Jesus call such a man to be one of his intimate followers.
Matthew got Jesus in further trouble by having a sort of going-away party at his house. The Gospel tells us that many tax collectors and “those known as sinners” came to the dinner. The Pharisees were still more badly shocked. What business did the supposedly great teacher have associating with such immoral people? Jesus’ answer was, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners” (Matthew 9:12b-13). Jesus is not setting aside ritual and worship; he is saying that loving others is even more important.
No other particular incidents about Matthew are found in the New Testament.
Reflection
---------
From such an unlikely situation, Jesus chose one of the foundations of the Church, a man others, judging from his job, thought was not holy enough for the position. But Matthew was honest enough to admit that he was one of the sinners Jesus came to call. He was open enough to recognize truth when he saw him. “And he got up and followed him” (Matthew 9:9b).
Saint Matthew is the Patron Saint of:
Accountants
Actors
Bankers
Bookkeepers
Tax collectors
Taxi Drivers

Okay so it's a prequel movie but it won't be based off the flashbacks in Uncharted: Drake's Deception cause he's too young then and he does little adventure except climbing and pickpocketing. So, it gonna have to be a new story unrelated to the games probably from a team of writers who just like money and don't care about original content and then is Sam gonna be in it and ...OH MY GOD. I just remembered Mark Wahlberg is playing Sully Oh shit OH fuck.

so you wanted to like Bridgerton
…but you couldn’t get past the gender politics/massive consent issues/rich people/crime of wearing stays with no shift underneath/insert your reason here.
Behold, I present to you this list of some of my favorite romance novels categorized by my own reactions that mayhap you share:
(But first, a note: I have read all of the books on this list, but in some cases it has been quite a while, so I’m not going to list content warnings because I frankly don’t remember all of them. I recommend checking Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, author websites (KJ Charles has her content warnings listed by book), and reviews if you’re concerned. If you DM me about specific books I can also do a quick search and give you an answer.)
(Actually, a second note: Please obtain these books through means that support the authors as well as small business, if possible. If audiobooks are your thing, check out libro.fm, which allows you to support an indie bookstore through digital audio purchases. If you prefer paper, order from an indie if you can--The Ripped Bodice is a romance-only bookstore that has paper copies of authors who can be hard to find in paper elsewhere, like KJ Charles. Where you have to get your ebooks depends on what your device is, but please pay for them. If you can’t or don’t want to, (which is fair!) check and see if you library uses Libby and/or Hoopla, which allow you to borrow ebooks as well as audiobooks. I believe Libby and Hoopla is only available in the US, but I might be wrong.)
I’m not going to do a summary for every book because this post is already long enough but I’m happy to answer questions about any of them!
If you liked the brotherly shenanigans, but weren’t into the weird controlling thing Anthony had going on:
The Turner Series by Courtney Milan (Unveiled, Untamed, and Unraveled) is about Ash, Smite, and Mark Turner, three brothers who have made it through life so far by relying on each other. If you want schemes and revenge on rich people, start with Unveiled. If you want to read about a law professional who actually cares about justice, start with Unraveled. If you want a book-length purity culture takedown, start with Untamed.
The Brothers Sinister Series by Courtney Milan (The Duchess War, The Heiress Effect, The Countess Conspiracy, and The Suffragette Scandal) listen Courtney Milan’s just really good at brothers and sibling relationships in general. If you want a duke who’s a class traitor, start with The Duchess War. If you want politics and wild fashion, start with The Heiress Effect. If you want friends-to-lovers plus SCIENCE! start with The Countess Conspiracy. If you want the best suffragist newspaperwoman ever to appear in fiction and the forger who falls in love with her, start with The Suffragette Scandal.
If you were very happy to see people of color in an English historical drama, but have some reservations about the way it was handled (see this video about colorism, racebaiting, and implicit bias in Bridgerton):
A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian (this one’s gay)
After the Wedding by Courtney Milan (this one has a bi heroine)
An Unseen Attraction by KJ Charles (also gay)
The Duke Who Didn’t by Courtney Milan
Wanted, a Gentleman by KJ Charles (also gay)
Unfit to Print by KJ Charles (also gay)
If you were like “none of these members of the aristocracy are sufficiently embarrassed that they’re members of the aristocracy”:
The Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian (also this one’s gay)
A Duke in Disguise by Cat Sebastian (this one has a bi heroine)
The Duchess War by Courtney Milan
The Suffragette Scandal by Courtney Milan (The Duke Who Didn’t, also falls under this category)
If you thought, “actually I’ve decided I’m not interested in the aristocracy, no matter how embarrassed they are”
Try anything by Rose Lerner, especially Sweet Disorder, True Pretenses, and Listen to the Moon.
If you thought, “dear God please just use your words and talk about sex” (a.k.a. books about women who are DTF):
A Delicate Deception by Cat Sebastian (this one also includes a bi for bi main pairing, and every single main character is queer)
Gilded Cage by KJ Charles (this one has a bi heroine)
Extra shoutout to The Duchess War, listed above, for A+ communication between the two protagonists about the sex they do and don’t want to have.
If you did kind of agree with “reformed rakes make the best husbands”:
The Ruin of a Rake by Cat Sebastian (also gay)
Band Sinister by KJ Charles (actually very little reformation goes on here, which makes it better, trust me, and gay as hell)
If you were like “yeah yeah can we get back to Benedict and this artist guy? Is it too much to want them to make out?” (a.k.a. this is the section for queer books I haven’t already mentioned)
Anything by Cat Sebastian and KJ Charles, with honorable mentions for:
Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian
The Society of Gentlemen Series by KJ Charles (A Fashionable Indulgence, A Seditious Affair, and A Gentleman’s Position)  - extra shoutout for the research that went into this series and how historical events directly impact the plot and the characters’ decisions, it’s really quite masterful.
I have also heard wonderful things about Olivia Waite’s The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Navigation and The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows, but I haven’t had a chance to check those out for myself yet.
You actually kind of liked the costumes, but you would like to read about historically accurate wild fashion in which everyone wears the proper linings under their stays and corsets really dear Lord is it too much to ask:
The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan. The wild outfits are a plot point, trust me, and have historical basis to boot.
These books are concentrated on nineteenth century England, because that’s when Bridgerton is set. (Courtney Milan’s books are Victorian, not Regency, but they’re going on the list because I said so, Netflix Adapt Courtney Milan Next And Do Not Mess It Up challenge 2k21). If you’re looking for non-England-set romance novels in any of these categories, hit me up and I will see what I can find.
“Hey MG, this list is made up of like…the same four authors.” Yes, alas, I have grown wildly picky about my romance novels in the last few years and this is the core of what I know well enough to confidently recommend.
I’d love to hear what people think of these!

Rex and Anakin Raise a Family: Part Four
Part One, Part Two, Part Three – Chrono
Warnings: grief, resentment, lactation, animal death
----
For all that Anakin had said he could handle the twins, Rex still takes one in the sling as they go into town. They don't have a hoverpram yet, and neither of them could figure out a way to fold the fabric to securely hold the babies' heads up. Anakin takes Luke, and Rex takes Leia, and they ignore the whispers that still follow them.
The General keeps just behind his shoulder when they get to the hardware shop that carries the closest paint they can find in such a small town. It's not meant for armor, really, but speeder paint will do the trick for now. Rex's hands shake as he picks out the shades he needs, and the young Rodian at the register almost asks about it.
The issue isn't pressed.
They make their way back to the cottage, and Leia starts fussing fifteen minutes past the town's edge. Anakin looks like he wants to offer to take her back, but Rex is fine. He can comfort her. He can--
Anakin takes the paint, floating it along in the air before them, freeing Rex's hands to focus on the infant strapped to his chest.
"I'll feed her as soon as we get back," Anakin says, low and calm. "She's a little hungry."
Pacifier, then. They're only a few minutes out, by now. She can wait for them to get back to where exchanging the twins won't involve juggling.
Rex feels eyes on him, looks up and sees the soft, quiet smile on his General's face, and ducks his head back to Leia.
She glares up at him as well as a newborn can, sucking angrily on the paci in her mouth. Rex has no idea if she's actually upset or if her face just naturally follows such an expression, but it's adorable nonetheless. He hums to her, nonsense without words.
He's never learned lullabies; they picked up drinking songs in the field and from local soldiers, from their Jedi, war songs from their trainers, pop songs from the radio. A few learned lullabies, those who loved children and wanted their own, one day, brothers like Waxer who would have adopted Numa in a heartbeat if it had been an option.
He wants to learn lullabies. He wants to be able to sing children's songs to these tiny, helpless lives he holds in his hands, day in and day out. He wants to learn Mandalorian songs, real ones, not just battle chants and mourning melodies. He wants to be able to raise them with the childhood he didn't have.
"Rex? Door's open."
He looks up, and Anakin's standing on the porch, pulling the keys from the lock and gesturing in with his head. Rex hadn't even realized he'd stopped walking, subconsciously waiting for the blockage of the door to be handled. It's easier to focus on the children.
The paint gets sent to the backyard--trapped fumes wouldn’t be good for the children--and Rex lays Leia down in her crib. Anakin urges him to the backyard, says I’ll handle it about anything Rex uses to delay, and it’s only a few minutes later that Rex finds himself sitting on the grass, armor spread across a sheet of disposable flimsi, paints and brushes at the ready. He doesn’t quite remember setting it up, but he must have.
Anakin joins him, a twin in each arm and the Force laying out a picnic blanket. Leia’s nursing, swaddled up but content to suckle, and Luke seems happy to doze when Anakin sets him down on the cotton gingham. It’s a warm day, with a light breeze, and the babies are where the wind won’t carry the paint fumes.
“I’m here if you need me,” Anakin promises, though his attention drifts immediately to his daughter.
Rex begins to paint.
----
His remembrances are endless.
Every brother he’s ever known, every general he’s met, every small commander and random civilian, everyone he loved and knew. He lights a pyre, sings under his breath and tries not to break in a way that can’t be patched together. He mourns the tubies and cadets, the Jedi younglings, names he never learned and now never would.
Anakin gets Japor from somewhere, carves it whenever he’s too jittery to sleep and the twins are asleep. Rex recognizes a few symbols, like the open circle fleet, like Fives’ helmet eel, like Ahsoka’s markings. There are more, though, that are wholly unfamiliar, things he thinks are born of desert sands and binary suns, rough and painful and deeper in Anakin’s heart than even the Jedi.
He asks about the one for Fives, when he sees it.
He hides his anger.
Explanations, first.
“It’s an apology,” his General tells him, eyes distant. “I should have listened to him. I didn’t. The carvings are regrets, broken trust... that sort of thing. I’m part of why he died, and in that, part of why the rest is gone. He and his memory deserve a place of honor.”
Rex considers that, and accepts it.
Fives deserves an apology. The General recognizes that.
The General recognizes that he fucked up.
This is a good thing.
Rex lets go of his anger, still curled tight to his chest after months, as best he can.
He’s not very good at it, but he can try.
Luke starts crying, and Rex gets up to warm a bottle.
----
“I need to stay close to home until the twins are a little older,” Rex says. Teskarim, the woman at the childcare store, tilts her head to encourage him to continue. “I’m... I’ve never been anything but a soldier, and nobody here needs security services, but I can hunt. Do you know if there’s any kind of licenses required, or lists of which animals are legal hunt and which are endangered?”
“I... don’t,” she says, chewing her bottom lip. “But I think the butcher’s shop can probably point you in the right direction.”
Damn. He’d been hoping he wouldn’t have to talk to anyone new today.
“Thanks,” he sighs, and shells out some of the local currency for more formula.
----
The butcher has answers, and preferences. Rex isn’t much of a trapper, but he’s a hell of a shot, and decent enough scout and tracker. He listens to what there is to hear, and mentally takes all the notes he can. There aren’t any licenses needed in this hemisphere, but there are legally-defined hunting seasons for different creatures. The butcher knows when the optimal times of day are, which parts of the nearby forest and mountains are best to stake out, and so on.
Rex tells Anakin about his plan. He gets a slow blink in response, a cringe in what he thinks is guilt, and an offer to meditate for the best direction to take when he goes out. He accepts the offer in the spirit its meant, and sets out the next morning with the expectation that he may need to spend a few nights out under the leaves and stars.
The calm and quiet are their own kind of comfort. He’s loyal to Anakin, and he already loves the twins, but there’s a part of him that needs to be away from natborns right now. Anakin was a Jedi, a general, and fought in the metaphorical trenches with the rest of them, but he wasn’t a brother.
They grieve many of the same people, but they do not grieve the same way.
Rex needs the solitude. Not forever, not even for very long, but he needs it.
It takes two days, but he finds one of the in-season creatures, a creature shaped much like an Alderaan deer, but larger, and with longer fur. It’s darker in color, too, and he gives it a bit of time to wander about until he can be sure it’s a male, and he’s not about to leave some fawns without a mother. The shot is clean, and it doesn’t take him very long to tie it up and sling it over his shoulders to bring back to town.
The trek back takes hours, and the creature on his back is a pain to carry, but it’s almost worth the looks he gets from the civvies. Eyes bulge out the sockets at the sight of him, and he’s glad his helmet hides his smirk. He’s Kamino stock, hardened by over three years on the front lines, and there’s a pride in how easy the physical things are for him. It’s not impossible for a natborn to carry this kind of creature this far without help, but it’s uncommon.
He kind of likes the attention, now that it doesn’t come with the many prejudices that being a clone always had.
Anakin meets him at the butcher’s, one twin on his chest and the other on his back.
Seems he’s found a solution to that.
“Here to help me barter a fair payment?” Rex asks, and gets a too-charming grin in response.
“Well, I’ve been doing it most of my life,” Anakin says, cheery in a way that feels pasted on. “And I’ll have a trick to know if we’re being cheated.”
It’s a solid response, but Rex doesn’t like it. He takes note of the bags under Anakins eyes. “Have you been sleeping, sir?”
“Twins,” the man himself says. “And don’t call me ‘sir,’ Rex, we’ve been over this.”
“You need to sleep, General.”
Anakin pouts at him, probably because of the title. “I can handle two days alone, Captain.”
Rex rolls his eyes and sidles through the entrance of the butcher’s shop.
They’ve got this.
