“Don’t be like this.” Y/n rolls her eyes at her husband, giving his a dirty look while she gently rocks her baby to sleep. She had woken April up when she slammed the door behind her after coming home from their first date out in month. She payed the baby sitter and sent her on her way before Harry was hot on her tail trying to use his therapist voice on her.

“Come on. You know this isn’t healthy. You need to talk to me and tell me why you’re so upset-“

“Sh!”

Harry sighs, starting a whisper so he doesn’t kee And tell me why you’re so upset or I’m not going to be able to give you a proper apology like I know you want.”

Y/n lays the chubby baby back in her crib then walks out, closing the door to her shared bedroom and changing out of her dress into something more comfortable so she could relax. “Really? You know this is the thing that makes me the most upset. You need to communicate with me instead of shutting down because you’re mad. That’s not helping you, and it’s not upsetting me that you’re ignoring me like I know you mean to. It’s upsetting me that you aren’t communicating your feelings. We’re married, we don’t shut down on each other. That’s not how marriage works.”

She gives him a blank stair and slides into bed, turning on the tv to drown out the sound of Harry’s lecture.

“Then I’ll leave. If you can’t act like a mature adult I’ll just leave for the night. Being around you is upsetting me too much so I’m taking myself out of the situation.” She knows he’s bluffing but she can’t help but break the act.

“Fine.”

“So what’s wrong.” He sits next to her, kicking his loafers off and sitting criss cross applesauce on his side of the unmade bed. “You invited your ex to sit with us at our first date after having April. Do you know how long it’s been since we had a night to ourselves.”

“And I apologize for that. I was put in an awkward situation when she asked if I could join-“

“And she shouldn’t have felt comfortable enough to ask!”

“But she did and we can’t control that. I’m sorry that I didn’t have enough to tell her no. In retrospect I obviously wish I would have just said no, but I can’t change that decision now.”

“Yeah.”

“It upsets me when you continue to deal with these situations in unhealthy ways. We’ve worked on that for so long. I’m not someone you need to shut out. I’m not going to get angry. I just want to communicate with you.”

“Yeah. That’s was kind of dumb.” He wraps his arms around her, pulling her into his lap. “Yeah.”

“I’m sorry. I was just really looking forward to a night just us.” Harry nods, kissing her shoulder. “I was too. We can try again soon. Now let’s get some rest.”
