I'm asking for some help in identifying more Black and Black Biracial female characters/actresses in the MCU/Marvel live action works. This includes side characters
So far, I know there are:
Shuri, Riri, Okoye, Ramonda, Ayo, Aneka from Black Panther
Michelle Jones-Watson, Liz Allen-Toomes from MCU Spider-Man
Brunnhilde (Valkyrie) from Thor
Sarah Wilson from TFATWS/Captain America
Ororo (Storm), Angel (Tempest) from the X-Men movies
Tilda Johnson, Misty Knight, Mariah Dillard, Claire Temple from Luke Cage
Ava (Ghost) from Ant-Man and the Wasp
Mallory Book from She-Hulk
Makkari from Eternals
Gamora from GOTG (although I've heard some don't count her because of skin paint)
So, last night’s entertainment law lecture was a lot more personal than I thought it’d be. The focus was on discrimination in the entertainment industry and, aside from the usual legal discussion, we all got to share personal stories of experiencing discrimination in our lives. On my part, as a Filipino-American, I shared an event that I hadn’t thought about in years. Basically, while trying to help this old white woman out, I got ridiculed for being Asian, specifically because she “couldn’t understand my accent” (I was raised in California, so the only reason why she said that was to mock me). It still stings, but I’ve come to accept what happened because, you know, this is America. As my professor said, we can only hope the next generation will do better than the previous one.
For my classmates, there was another student who shared his experiences of being in the entertainment industry as a gay, Hispanic man. He specifically talked about micro-aggressions and being told he had to take on “urban” roles. Another student talked about her childhood, she being white-passing and having a black father. Even our professor shared his experiences as a Jewish-American (apparently, he was part of a legal society club that designated him as their “diversity” quota since everyone else were white guys). It was a really enlightening lecture.
As a side note, our professor represented Wesley Snipes during his lawsuit against the makers of “Blade Trinity” and he went through his experiences in the case specifically to talk about Wesley Snipes’ experience in the movie industry as a black man. Let me just say, I have a newfound respect for Snipes. Also, our professor did NOT paint a good picture of producer David Goyer. He basically called him out for being a weird nerd who wanted to live out his inner fantasies on the big screen. Also, he called out Jessica Biel for being a bad actress, which got a good laugh out of us.
It's an insane mindfuck that Tom Hiddleston is fueling Lokius by giving us more reasons to ship it. Also, Tom, I find it hard to believe you've been unaware of the name this entire time.
