Outriders, the new cooperative shooter-RPG from People Can Fly and Square Enix, has achieved something impressive for an original IP, despite server issues that have kept many players offline. Outriders has outperformed Marvel's Avengers' launch by almost four times the player count. Initial tracking shows that Outriders peaked Saturday morning at over 116,000 concurrent players, compared to a peak of just over 32,000 for the launch of Marvel's Avengers.

A big question that Square Enix may be kicking itself thinking about is whether Outriders would have reached a more impressive player count if Outriders' servers hadn't experienced issues since launch. Every time the number gets high it seems like servers have a brief outage. The tracking over the past few days is filled with random troughs due to these outages. For example, Outriders hit 100,000 players around 8:00 a.m. PT Saturday morning, but then a server outage dropping it to nearly 30,000 players. It took until after 2:00 p.m. PT to climb back to 116,000 players.
There's little to say about Marvel's Avengers in comparison. The game's peak concurrent players on Steam never crossed 32,000 and none of its updates since have led to significant spikes in total players. Following that initial Saturday peak in concurrent players, Marvel's Avengers never saw another spike. The next Saturday's peak total was just over 15,000 players.
The two games, Outriders and Marvel's Avengers, are incredibly different experiences. What connects them is that they're both online games intended to be played cooperatively, though they both support single-player, too. That Outriders managed to create four times the interest as Marvel's Avengers, a game based on one of the biggest brands in the world, is staggering.
Why Outriders has outperformed Marvel's Avengers, at least in this one specific metric, is likely unanswerable without more information. It could just be a better game. It could be more accessible. It might just be a more attractive experience for Twitch streamers, leading to stronger word-of-mouth advertising. Regardless of the reasoning, it's a striking accomplishment and certain to make the team at People Can Fly very happy.

With Marvel’s Avengers releasing next month, developer Crystal Dynamics breaks down combat challenges and cosmetics players can expect.
In a report from the PlayStation Blog, Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics details different community challenges and cosmetics that players can expect.
Starting with community challenges, Marvel’s Avengers will have different challenges each month with different goals that have to be achieved. The point of the challenges is to get everyone to work together in order to earn rewards.
Moving onto cosmetics, players will come across different cosmetics that range from common to legendary. These cosmetics are spread throughout the game’s story missions and can be acquired in marketplaces and by completing certain puzzles among other things. Additionally, cosmetics don’t offer any additional perk during gameplay.

With the game releasing next month, we’ve gotten a ton of news this week. Spider-Man will be added to the game in 2021 but as a PlayStation exclusive. This version of Spider-Man will be different from Insomniac Games’ version and he’ll be the only platform exclusive character. In addition to him being PlayStation exclusive, the PS Blog mentions that players experiencing the game on PS4 will get 30-day exclusive access to legendary outfits, emotes, epic takedowns, and more. Besides exclusives, it’s been announced that Hawkeye will be the first hero coming to the game post-launch.
If you’re interested in seeing Marvel’s Avengers in action, the beta is starting this weekend for PS4 players that preordered the game. From there, more beta weekends will happen from August 14-16 and the 21-23 for every PS4 player. DualShockers’ own Logan Moore got to check the beta out and wrote a preview on it.

HHW Gaming: More Exclusives Announced For ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ On PlayStation

Xbox, PC, and Stadia gamers were BIG MAD after Sony announced Spider-Man as a Playstation exclusive character for Marvel’s Avengers. Sony just dropped even more news about exclusives coming with the Crystal Dynamic’s title.
At this point, its looking PlayStation is indeed the best place to play when it comes to Marvel’s Avengers. In a new post shared today (Aug.4) on PlayStation’s blog, Crystal Dynamics revealed that even more exclusives that PS4 players will get to enjoy before Xbox, Stadia, and PC owners.
Today’s post focused on Community Challenges, a feature that will be featured in all versions of the game. The feature will see players trying to accomplish goals to unlock rewards. Crystal Dynamics was very stingy when it came to revealing precisely what those rewards will but did announce it won’t be difficult for players to take part in the challenges and that they could look forward to new ones each month.
But like Spider-Man and the upcoming beta, PlayStation owners will have access to exclusive Community Challenges. PS players will also be blessed with Legendary and Epic outfits, emotes, and takedowns (a cosmetic upgrade that heroes can perform when certain circumstances are met) as a timed exclusive for 30-days. It was revealed they will apply to all six core Avengers at launch plus post-launch characters like Hawkeye.

But wait there is more, PS Plus owners will also be given a free bundle for Ms. Marvel and for other post-launch characters. The package will include a rare outfit, 100 credits, and a nameplate. Players can expect to receive their free goodies when Hawkeye drops.
Marvel’s Avengers arrives on September 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. PS5 and Xbox Series X owners will be able to upgrade the game to next-gen for free at a later date.

Marvel’s Avengers Unite Again; This Time in the Virtual Arena
The globally famous epic tale of six superheroes finally came to its mega conclusion last year with the second finale movie of The Avengers: End Game. As audiences move away from their favorite superhero team, they can dive into the virtual world with a new game planned for later this year.
The much-awaited Avengers video game is going to be released in its beta version pretty soon. This marks good news for the fans who have been waiting since January of 2017, when the game was first announced. On the morning of July 15th, the publishers of the game, Square Enix announced three sets of dates for the BETA version of the game. This means that players can try out the open and closed beta versions of the game before the commercial version comes out.
Dates have been set as per platforms
Since the makers plan to publish the game on multiple platforms, given the diversity of fanbase, the beta versions will be launched on three different dates for varying platforms. A closed-beta version will come out for PS4 users who have pre-ordered the game on August 7th. Followed by an open beta version on August 14 for all PS4 users. The same day will see the release of the final beta version for those PC and Xbox One users who have pre-ordered the game. And all other users on these two platforms can access the open beta version from August 21st. PlayStation users are getting early access due to a strong public relationship between Sony and Square Enix.
What should we expect?
The makers have decided to announce the game and the details in two separate events. As of yet, only the release dates of the beta version have been outed. We are yet to know more such as what is the duration of the beta version? More information on the game is scheduled to be announced later. The company has set up a second Marvel’s Avengers War Table presentation, which will be aired on July 29.
The little information provided by the publishers about the game tells us that it will have co-op missions, exploration in War Zone, hero progression, and a new mission called ‘Drop Zones.’ All this points to a potentially substantial beta version.
Marvel’s Avengers, the commercial version, will be released for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4th, followed by upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X the future.
