One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar winners
Wakanda Forever / Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda
Year: 2022
Designer: Ruth E. Carter
After the success of Black Panther in 2018, Ruth E. Carter and Angela Bassett both continued to knock it out of the park with Queen Ramonda's costumes in Wakanda Forever. The queen wears this two-toned purple velvet gown to address the UN in the opening sequence. As with many other onscreen purple dresses, it looks considerably deeper in color in the movie than when seen offscreen. According to Ms. Carter, it took four to six months to create.
As in the first film, a 3-D printer was used to create the collar and crown. I found out the crown is modeled on a style of headdress worn by Zulu married women, called an isicholo.

I quick (is really quick at this point it took almost 6 hours) test print, just a few segments of doc ock’s actuators, to test the ball joints,
it’s not “currently” a full project, main because I can’t justify making a prop that big that big for myself, but if anyone interested, I got commission slots open, hit me up!!

My favorite Dormammu costume:
Ultimatum (2008) #4.
Writer - Jeph Loeb.
Artist - David Finch.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
Yep, this is my favorite costume and it's being worn by the "worst" version of Dormammu in the Multiverse. Look, I know the Ultimate Universe got worse over time and they screwed up a lot of stuff, but man, Dormammu (and Doctor Strange's Mystical Universe) was one of the most wasted and poorly written things in this goddamn universe. I won't talk so much about the character itself now, because I can talk about that in another post.
As for the suit, the suit is amazing to me because it's a more "modernized" version of the classic Dormammu suit on Earth-616. However, I also love the colors of this costume, I think the purple mixed with the gold/yellow color goes well together and made the costume look more beautiful.
I also like the amulet that Dormammu has around his neck, it makes me imagine what a dark version of the Eye of Agamotto could look like in Dormammu's hands. The classic gloves are still good and the "belt" on the character looks more like a sash in this version.
The only thing I find confusing is that at no point do you see Dormammu's boots in the comics. Of course, it could be because of the "Plot Twist" it has on him, but even so, I wanted to know what the character's boots look like in this universe. I also like the character's face, because most of the time he is smiling in a macabre way and I find that very scary in the character. I also like the "black lines" he has around his head (to this day I don't know the correct name for it, but I like to call it "Crown").
Well, that's why this suit is my favorite and I'm sad to see it being worn by one of the worst alternate versions of the character (and in one of the worst Marvel stories in comics).
