bit of a rant about cis men stalinists
why do people idolize the USSR as MLs
like i dont mean "grr u support the ussr!" cuz i support the ussr
but it feels like so many people (especially cis men but not all y'all) just pretend 1922-1953 was the Best??
like soviets under stalin/lenin fucked a lot of stuff up, what happened to critical support???
this isn't an anti-USSR post by any means, if you know me, you know i love the USSR
but what is with these idealist lefty stalinists that just refuse to believe the USSR did anything wrong pre 1953
cant tell you how many tiimes ive heard the Unirionic Statement that pre-1953 USSR was "a little socially backward on abortion/gays but was otherwise really good"
idk if this is a bit of an odd post. just, idk, bit bothered

One good outcome of my return to posting via blogging is that I’m going to have to engage with the news through the subscriptions I have now; and should probably get some reading done - first up will hopefully be Black Against Empire: The History of the Black Panther Party by. Joshua Bloom and Waldo Martin, Jr., followed by Revolution and Counterrevolution: China’s Continuing Class Struggle Since Liberation by. Pao-Yu Ching and then a full read of Scenes of Subjection by. Saidiya Hartman.
That and my daily NYT, ProPublica, and Columbus Dispatch reading.

Here's something I'm sure you find infuriating;
"I'm not into politics. I don't really know, I'm just not a political person."
We know that this IS being political! It means you condone everything - you don't think anything is worth fighting for, you're fine with the status quo as long as it benefits you vaguely. It's the mindset of someone so aggressively individualist, that the suffering of others is simply not a concern - since the system can't be broken, if they're alright. The kind of people to vote for a fascist if it'll mean that their taxes are lower next year. To stand by and watch oppression is insidious. Not even watch - to Celebrate oppression as long as it's against the "savages" and "beasts." Mass mistreatment still exists beyond the gulf surrounding apathetic suburbia.

The chart does not capture the astonishing fact that these accomplishments were achieved under brutal sanctions imposed by the world’s superpower. Viva la revolución.
They also have ad-free TV ✌️📺 (you don’t need commercials with Socialism).

You can't call yourself a Marxist and be ideologically opposed to trans people, those are incompatible modes of thought.
gender identity theory is incompatible with the Marxist scientific method.
believing your thoughts determine your reality is a product of subjective idealism. Marxism is not idealism but dialectical materialism, there is an objective reality and objective material conditions from which human consciousness stems. we exist as material, physical beings rather than immaterial conscious spirits. subjective consciousness is subordinate to and dependent upon the material world.
the correct Marxist position is not "i feel i'm a woman therefore i am a woman" but "i am objectively female, and this makes me a woman".

This Thanksgiving I am grateful for… the November 23, 1917 decree by the Bolshevik government in Russia that abolished all legal class privileges and noble ranks :)

any chance you could explain your perspective on the rift between anarchists and MLs/communists/socialists/etc? i understand there's some methodological disagreements, like anarchists would never place their hope for revolution in a socialist/communist/etc political party, but i've genuinely heard self-proclaimed anarchists refer to "communists" with such disdain and it just makes me go ?????? we (anarchists) are also communists?? we ultimately want the same things - communism is a STATEless classless moneyless society. just, what's going on here??? surely this is not the best use of our time?
I used to be pretty hardcore about hating on MLs etc. in my defence, some of them can be pretty annoying, but I’m sure much the same is true of anarchists if you’re stood on the other side of the argument.
One thing that is almost certainly and provably true is that the overwhelming majority of radical leftists believe what they believe because, at their core, they think the current state of society is unjust, and want to work to build a better one.
But I also don’t think the argument that runs something like “we’re all just communists with different methods of getting to communism” holds much water. I don’t think anarchists can completely work with their ideological opponents; the belief that hierarchies are unjust and need to be dismantled is fundamentally incompatible with the idea that you need a centralised proletarian vanguard that derives its power from the representative democracy of workers councils. There has been significant and bloody conflict between both camps for a reason.
On the other hand, right now, those conflicts are petty and ridiculous when neoimperialism and neoliberalism continue their stranglehold over society and economy. I have worked and do work with many MLs/Trots/Maoists etc., and we need some serious solidarity with the left right now.
When millions struggle to meet their basic needs, when the proles are beaten and killed in the streets simply for asking for their basic rights, when the rights of minority classes are routinely and systematically infringed upon and reversed, when the whole planet is choking and dying, what does your opinion on a worker’s vanguard matter? People don’t even have their basic rights. It’s petty and useless to badmouth obvious allies in a struggle that is right on our doorstep.
