my most evil inquisitor lore is that my trevelyan has a sister who died in the kirkwall circle just before the chantry explosion and cullen had a massive crush on her. she looked just like her. many implications.
#she was caught trying to escape and had to be made tranquil#cullen signed the papers but he warned her ahead of time which gave her a chance to. well you know.#and that was his tipping point turning him against meredith's rule.#he DOESN'T know she was a trevelyan though bc her parents were so ashamed of having a mage child they made her change her name#and he just doesnt make the connection between two blonde girls. he just thinks he has a type.#until. on THE wedding day. hawke is invited (because my trev has a crush on him. and is desperately mad of his tall blonde wife who she saw#when she snuck a glance at his locket one time. she lied about reading tale of the champion.)#anyway bethany sees her and is like. wait. she looks exactly like this woman i was in love with in the circle.#and she puts the pieces together. realises shes marrying CULLEN of all people. and is like oh fuck.#and she like. warns her. but at that point what can you do? the wedding is arranged and trevelyan is a massive public figure#so she walks down the aisle towards a man who is a) possibly only into her because he's chasing the ghost of her dead sister b) possibly the#reason her sister is dead c) actually kind of evil now that she's hearing stories about him from bethany#sorry the dai romances are boring to me i need to inject toxicity and horror into them to be interested.#anyway. all this to say that cullen kisses mary on the forehead when she reaches him at the altar and everyone who Knows (several people#by this point. dorian was there as well so he's been whispering) goes dead silent

@bunniesandbeheadings I might misunderstand the text you linked. How could Mary call Edward a bastard? KoA was dead by then, and of course widowers can remarry. Calling Jane a legitimate Queen in no way would take away KoA’s status as Queen?
all of hviii's marriages after catherine of aragon were not recognised by the catholic church/pope. when he needed dispensations for these marriages, like for affinity (his marriage to jane was one of them), they were granted by the anglican church, whose authority the pope and other catholic monarchies of christendom did not recognise (the last real 'papal' henrician appointment, irony of ironies, was thomas cranmer's). there was also the matter of all marriages taking place when the realm was in schism, thus "all other women of henry concubines and not wives". prince edward was (legitimate) heir as reified by parliament; both retroactively from the succession act of 1536 and in name by the one of 1543.
foreign dignitaries of course, when they visited, would honour whoever henry's wife was as queen to maintain good relations and as matter of diplomacy (this wasn't, of course, done by the imperial until the last weeks of AB's time as queen, but otherwise, she was, even if 'frostily' by the french as in 1534). but they were often under instruction to treat this status as transient, as lauren mackay has summarized in her biography of chapuys, for example, charles v was rather mercenary in his attitude towards jane seymour, continually referring to her as henry's 'mistress' well into their marriage in his own instructions to chapuys:
"It appears Charles [V] was at times rather ruthless in regards to Jane, despite the fact that her being in power benefitted Mary. Charles referred to her in several dispatches as Henry's mistress rather than queen [...]" Inside the Tudor Court, Lauren Mackay
#bunniesandbeheadings#replies#there's like the question of why mary did not attempt to overthrow edward while he was king if she didn't believe his reign was legitimate#which is an interesting one...#but 1) her biographers really discount how much of a dissembler she was#2) loades theorized that she actually did buy into the henrician supremacy and her own illegitimacy and simply had a turnaround once#edward died believing that was god's sign she was the rightful heir thus legitimate...which i find an oversimplistic explanation. to say#the least...#i think psychologically in the last years of the edwardian regime she had something of a redeux of the AB years?#this belief england was going to fall into perdition due to 'evil councilors' but she couldn't do anything to reverse it#which is why there's an escape attempt not just an escape plan as in the former but she also decides against this in the last hour#so yes. what was her plan? or hope? it might've been that edward vi would be excommunicated as he reached his majority#and that charles v took up the call to invade and england became one of his dominions#and she would be set up as regent as he set up his other female relatives as regent in his absence#idk if i'd say jane being in power benefitted mary. all the 'benefits' she received came from her swearing to oaths she'd been pressurized#to swear to for the past two years...?#anyway this was illuminating and instructive. to me. it best explains imo why she took such a defiant attitude towards edward. she wouldn't#have seen it as defiant if she didn't believe in his authority in the first place

Can’t wait to see Nicholas Galitzine in the idea of you and Mary and George, opposite Anne Hathaway and Julianne Moore.
(Which is to say I’m dragging myself through Cinderella 2021 and I’ve dragged myself through some of his other early projects and Nicholas is such a brilliant actor that I want to see what he can do with scene partners that can match him)

really hate absence trying to equate felix the snake and mary. the snake is a.) not a person (that jack thus had a very different relationship with) and b.) was premeditated (not trying to frame jack as a serial killer, given that the snake was slowly starving and to jack, putting the snake down seemed very). while jack killing mary was completely accidental, done in a moment of stress and panic, and immediately regretted. the writers trying to frame it through the characters as jack having an “absence of good” and trying to “solve a problem” makes no sense in this scenario, and is such a weird way to try and frame jack’s actions

haven't been able to stop thinking abt mary very likely tying her worth as a woman to her beauty and productivity and how the illness thoroughly ruined both of those for her.
the incumbent loss of self-esteem combined with her growing anger and helplessness at her situation, leading her to lash out at those closest to her. feeling guilt for not only causing her loved ones pain in that way but for her even being angry in the first place because a woman takes her pain with grace and poise and with a smile on her face. (a real woman isn't pathetic and ugly like her).
the tragedy of it all in mary's failing to realize that her anger was probably the most justifiably human response to her situation that she could've had, and that while she felt genuine guilt for the pain she caused with her anger, she shouldn't have relentlessly chastised herself for something she fundamentally couldn't help in her being terminally ill.

Mmm Jeanne
#servants cant learn new stuff (i'll talk about jalter in a second) therefore#jeanne shouldnt know how to read or write#we actually Dont get a confirmation that she can do those things in summer 3. because the book that jalter thought jeanne wrote#was actually Her own book#jeanne works with marie. maybe she comes up with the ideas and does rough drawings that marie would be Delighted to bring to life#marie reads to jeanne is my image#jalter taught herself how to read and write and i think that was possible because of the unstability of her existence#if you try to teach jeanne how to read and write it will stick for a second but if like idk 15-20 min pass she would likely find herself#unable to read again and her writting to be suboptimal#she can sign her own name ofc thats historical#she can recite the bible from memory iirc#i love jalter's ability to be her own person even if it comes with the fact that she is very much. an ephemeral dream#like her FCKING SKILL IS CALLED.#WHY MUST YOU HURT ME LIKE THIS FGO#anyway. now jeanne again but physical#oughhh thank u for the support in the tags when i said jeanne should have self image issues because she looked different in life#i hadnt fully talked bout it i just went with hair but yeah. i need to check again because im pretty sure her body wasnt Suuuper different#but i just gotta confirm#but im just so i love the idea of her just not liking the way she manifested abd not knowing Why she manifested like that#when there are Countless depictions of her with her short brown hair#sieg looks to the side whistling (its not his fault but he knows the pseudo servant part#and its probably a mix of . fate apocrypha's manifestation and of how some people imagined jeanne looked like#but it still upsets her#not that she'd ever complain to people#you can probably get it out of her tho#unrelated and only to those who reached this far: im thinking of a singularity set in 15th century orleans in the Middle of the hundred year#war. but the difference aint “oh jeanne d'arc came back to life evil” rather than “there seems to be a battle here where it shouldnt and oh#my god is that jeanne- oh god jeanne d'arc fucking died--#and chaldeas has to try and fix the war without living breathing jeanne d'arc#actually thats not the middle of the 100yearwar but yknow what i mean. also haha jk unless...

my current theory is that Haejoon is haunted by what happened to his mom (a literal haunting? maybe), but he’s also perturbed that he could be comforted like back when he was a kid from someone other than his mom?
like, Juwan cuddles Haejoon when they’re sleeping, which comforts Haejoon and allows him to sleep well, but he has mixed feelings about the fact that his guy friend is cuddling him like his mom used to because he’s 1) still torn up about what happened to his mom (UNDERSTANDABLE) and 2) had no friends when he was young, so he had never experienced touchy-feely platonic affection before
I’m sure the real reason is more complicated and heart-wrenching than my guess though!

I just realized something, the Omori in MiM only saw Sunny being miserable all alone which is a scene at the beginning of the game when Sunny first woke up... Omori doesn't know about what happened to Mari.

(click to enlarge. there wasn’t room on the meme for me to make the disclaimer that yes obviously a big portion of stede’s obliviousness is straight up born from being a wealthy white dude with no real-world experience and i’d never discount that.
i just think it makes sense that he sucks at actually communicating and that he’s used to not thinking about other perspectives, and i think it makes sense that through meeting ed, who likes and wants to get to know him off the bat, he does improve his social game on the ship enough to be accepted and protected by his crew in the end
and also that any take on stede that states he sees himself as important is wild to me when it couldn’t clearly be farther off from what canon shows us about him.)
