Into the abyss.
Daybreak and last light in the old town of Cumberland, Maryland.  A truly unique town that sits in the quiet mountains of western Maryland.  Coming from the east, it’s last stop for anyone heading west into the blue ridge mountains.  It’s always been a strange little town, but now it seems all but abandoned.  Here’s a few long exposure shots from last stop there a few years ago.

Lost and forgotten in time this asylum sits in decay. The building is being taken back by nature. This is Forest Haven Asylum in Maryland.

The White House Motel, more recently known as the Shine Inn Motel in Newburg, Maryland opened in the summer of 1953. It thrived for decades before closing in 2010.
Much of the original decor has been left behind. There’s still laundry in the washing machines, folded linens in the closets and glasses on the shelves. It was placed on the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties in 1999 but that couldn’t save it from being abandoned. It now sits vacant.
