The Red Masque and the Pirate Ninja

Ever since after fulfilling his dream of becoming a police officer, junior detective David Jones continues to be torn between being a detective and an astrology vigilante, he then discovers that his best friend and partner-to-be Veronica Waygetter was threatened to be taken back to her family business by her wealthy upper-class toy inventor family to maintain her perfectionism, obedience, and discipline rather than pirate bloodline. On summer vacation in the Philippines, Jones is forced to maintain his alter ego Red Masque to spend time with Veronica and a Chinese-American friend, Mirabella Lan. One day, Mirabella and her entire family are separated when they are taken hostage by a group of pirate ninjas led by SenseiBeard, Jones, Veronica, Rebecca Flamel, and Captain Gregory Read races to stop them from reaching the hidden city of Biringan City to find treasure and reunite the pair of star-crossed lovers known as the Butterfly Lovers until they work together when they are ambushed by a group of engkantos led by Gary Stalker who also held the Read family hostage.

Mary Read, a veces escrito «Reade» (nacida c. 1690), fue una famosa pirata de la Edad de oro de la piratería (1690-1720) que estuvo activa en las Bahamas hasta 1720, cuando fue capturada por las autoridades jamaiquinas. Como miembro de la tripulación de piratas del inglés John Rackham, también conocido como «Calico Jack» (f. 1720), Read se vestía como hombre para la batalla y luchó con valentía en su última resistencia frente a las autoridades mientras sus compañeros varones piratas se escondían debajo de cubiertas.

Mary Read was born in England in 1685, and began dressing as a boy at an early age. Initially encouraged by her mother in order to receive inheritance money, and then as a teenager to join the British military. After the death of her husband around 1715, she moved to the West Indies where she met “Calico” Jack Rackham and, dressing as a man, joined his crew. Her time as a pirate was short lived, however, as she was arrested for piracy in 1720 along with Rackham and Anne Bonny. While Rackham was executed quickly, both Read and Bonny “plead their bellies” (claimed they were pregnant), which delayed their execution.
