A lot of Omegas didn’t agree with arranged marriages and mating any more, they should have their choice in Alpha. And sure, a lot of Alphas and Betas liked that idea too.
But here we are, meeting for the first time at the masquerade ball, you have no idea I’m your betrothed, you just know that I’ve been gentle with all my touches to your waist and your shoulders, and my scent has you so desperate to have a bite of me. You’ll think of this as your last chance of freedom before we’re married in two days. You don’t know that I’m going to be the one mounting you and claiming you as my pretty little mate soon enough. You’d fought with your parents about this, not wanting to be auctioned off to the highest paying duke.
It didn’t matter how much I had to pay, I wanted you. I’d spied you in one of the gardens sunbathing last summer, the light dancing through your parasol as you lightly dozed, wearing little more than a long shirt to protect your modesty. I was hooked.
I’ve been watching you at every ball, every high society dinner. Soon, you’ll have a taste of me.
I’ll let you steal a kiss, so your first kiss is of your choosing, you don’t need to know I’ll be your first and last kiss. Maybe tonight I’ll slip my fingers inside your trousers and finger that pretty Omega pussy while you grip my arms and whimper in my ear, the anonymity of it all just serving to make you wetter. When you cum on my fingers, I’ll fish my cock out and knot my fist with your slick. It’ll be the first time you see a knot, maybe you’ll be bold and have a lick and suck, maybe beg me to knot your mouth. And in two days I’ll knot your cunt and make you scream my name.
But for now, we’ll just dance, and I’ll continue my seduction of my pretty little mate.

Sunny's Age and Lemony's Lies: An Investigation into the Great Hiatus
So, more and more my theory of the Great Hiatus seems to make more sense. Recalling, I defend the idea that the Masked Ball where Lemony was arrested happened many years after the main events described in TE. The Ball happened between the publication of the book TWW and TMM in the asoue universe. An important concept is that the books were originally published over many years.
Although TBB began to be written during the main events of asoue, TBB and TRR were only published at least 2 years after the main events described in asoue. TWW was published sometime shortly after TRR. But TMM was published many years after the publication of TWW. These years of hiatus, is what I call the Great Hiatus. Some events in the asoue universe that happened during the Great Hiatus were the Masked Ball, one of Lemony's false deaths, one of Lemony's escapes abroad, the closing of Prufrock-Prep, and evidently the sending of the original TMM to the editor.During the Masked Ball, Lemony tried to tell a supposed Beatrice something about Count Olaf.
According to this chronology, the only thing that would be relevant for a supposed Beatrice to know was the fact that "Count Olaf is Dead." Olaf died on a desert island. Olaf's death was not known to the general public, but it was known to Lemony, as evidently Lemony was on the island.
But the right question is: why would Lemony think it important that this information should reach a supposed Beatrice? That's because the reason that would lead a supposed Beatrice not to expose herself to the public was the fact that, in theory, Beatrice believed that as long as her death was accepted as true, at least one of her children would be kept alive by Count Olaf so he could recover the inheritance when the surviving child turned 18. If Beatrice showed herself alive, the inheritance would not be any of her children's but Beatrice's herself. So none of the children would have a reason to be kept alive by Count Olaf. Therefore she, in theory, needed to be regarded as dead. And that's why Lemony emphasizes so much that Beatrice is dead, even though he believes she may be alive. He tries not to alarm her and reinforce her pretense.
I want to make clear that all this is valid both in the case where Beatrice survived the fire and in the case where she died in the fire. Because it doesn't matter the truth, what matters is what Lemony believes to be true, and what he decides to do with his beliefs: reveal them or distort them for a greater good he believes to be a greater good. Lemony believes that lying is sometimes good and necessary. Even if he were right to say that Beatrice was dead, when he wrote that, he believed she was alive. So, he lied when he said she was dead. And all this can be seen by analyzing Sunny's age.
How old was Sunny when she arrived on the island? I can say more than 1 year, because of her behavior and the events mentioned in the story. Lemony claims he spent 14 years trying to talk about Count Olaf with Beatrice. But we have a limit for this subject to be relevant. When Sunny turned 18, if she was still in Olaf's clutches, he would find a way to cash the money and kill Sunny afterward. So, it wouldn't make sense for Beatrice to hide from Olaf anymore. If after discovering Olaf was dead, Lemony still tried to pass this information on to Beatrice, it's because he believed Beatrice believed Olaf had killed Klaus and Violet and preserved Sunny to cash the money. (It is interesting that Olaf tried to do exactly that at the end of TCC). Considering that Sunny spent 1 year on the island and Lemony didn't get there during that time, we can conclude that Sunny was at least 2 years old when she left the island, with the most likely being that she was 3 or 4 years old when she left the island. If Lemony got to the island during the year that followed and then found out that Olaf was dead (and also found the Baudelaires' notes), we can conclude that he spent the next 14 years trying to pass this information on to Beatrice, according to his own words, until the day of the Masked Ball.
This means that in the meantime he published 3 books, purposefully lying to the general public by saying that Beatrice was dead, when he believed she was alive.
That's why he couldn't complete the sentence for the general public. "Count Olaf is dead" would reveal that he believed Beatrice was alive.
It is interesting to note however, that evidence points to Beatrice in fact dying in her house fire, and that the woman Lemony thought was Beatrice was actually an imposter. Apparently that's what R meant to Lemony in the letter recorded in LSTUA chapter 2. "That girl was flammable." "Analyze these photos." "Impostors nearby in disguise". "Beatrice is far from reclaiming lost property." These hidden messages seem to be trying to tell Lemony, "Beatrice really is dead." And R only had to pass this message on to Lemony because he believed Beatrice was alive. This belief of Lemony's also explains why he was so alarmed when studying the city's underground, because he investigated possible survivors of fires hidden in fountains.
This deepens our understanding of the concept of unreliable narrators. Lemony Snicket becomes one of the most unique examples I've come across. He embodies the following notion: "One can tell an untruth without lying, simply by being mistaken. And one can tell the truth while lying, also by being mistaken." This intricate interplay of perceptions and realities adds another layer of complexity and intrigue to the narrative.

*Joint Theory 3: @unfortunatetheorist with @snicketstrange *
The Masked Ball - Book Canon VS Netflix Canon
After quite a wait (my [@unfortunatetheorist's] bad), here it is.
The Masked Ball that Duchess R invites Lemony to in LSTUA is notably different in both the book and Netflix canon. This post will try and take into account all of the differences that both Masked Balls have.
Obviously, the Very First Difference is that:
BOOK: The Ball happens AFTER the Baudelaire fire, during the events of The Carnivorous Carnival.
NETFLIX: The Ball happens 'IN THE PAST, a phrase which here means BEFORE THE BAUDELAIRES WERE BORN'.
This impacts the storyline greatly, as the book canon allows for the possibility of Beatrice surviving the fire, before Lemony met her at the Masked Ball and tried to save her, where she ultimately died.
This also paves the way for a slightly chilling possibility, especially when you look at it in terms of Lemony:
According to Netflix canon, if the Baudelaires weren't born at the time of the ball, and we know Beatrice was there... who's to say that Bertrand was not? The possibility is there, however slim it may be.
This COULD, in THEORY, mean one thing - Beatrice CHEATED on Lemony with Bertrand, and he didn't know. He found out later when she confessed to it, out of guilt, in her 200-page book. This, in turn, is what led to Lemony spiralling into depression, and is what makes him say this line in TPP:
"The man in the back of that taxi is myself, many years ago when I was much younger and more naive than I am now."
His naivety is referring to his unrequited love for Beatrice, despite the fact that she cheated on him.
It also, referring to BOOK canon this time, makes him say this line in TAA:
"[And] because I felt like a different person, I dared to approach a woman I had been forbidden to approach for the rest of my life."
The only reasons he would've been forbidden to approach her are:
a) Bertrand
b) Beatrice - if she ever saw him again, it would bring back all those emotions of guilt and sadness that she didn't want to hold on to.
(But that's just theoretical. Back to the point...)
Another key difference is that:
BOOK: Olaf is not present at this ball.
NETFLIX: Olaf IS present at this ball.
This is important, as @snicketstrange points out in a theory, Lemony sees Beatrice at the ball and says to her "Count Olaf is dead" - in book canon only.
Here's an interesting one:
BOOK: The Masked Ball is mentioned in TAA.
NETFLIX: The Masked Ball is only mentioned/shown in TCC.
This plays quite a part, as it allows for the possibility to be referenced in TEE, and therefore, for Esmé to have been at the ball, as she says in the Netflix series (TSS):.
"You once threw a Masked Ball here and didn't invite me - not that I care! A face this gorgeous should never be hidden behind a mask."
However, it is also not made explicitly clear in the books as to whether or not Esmé was invited/there.
BOOK: It is not mentioned whether or not Esmé is at the ball.
NETFLIX: Esmé is clearly NOT INVITED to this ball.
Another similarity is that both Balls were held explicitly by the Duchess of Winnipeg, Duchess R:
BOOK: Duchess R of Winnipeg holds the Masked Ball.
NETFLIX: Duchess R of Winnipeg holds the Masked Ball.
Speaking of people at Masked Balls, let's refocus on the main man himself - Lemony. Here's some things @snicketstrange pointed out:
In the books there are two dances mentioned. One of them was during the main events described in TCC. But it was NOT the same ball at which Lemony was captured nor the same ball at which he said "Count Olaf is..." This other ball is the one mentioned by the narrator Lemony in TAA, but it took place after the publication of TWW.
It's important to think in 5 dimensions here. (@snicketstrange is one of the few people that can do that!)
Lemony published his books over the years after the main events described in the books. And over these years, Lemony experienced some things that he, as a narrator, INCLUDED in the books as he published them. And the Ball at which Lemony was captured was one of those events.
Some more differences are:
Lemony's outfit
According to Lemony, it was the only time in his life that he wore this outfit. This detail is VERY significant. During the Netflix show's second season, Daniel Handler was still on the show's creative team.
It may be that he made these demands to ensure that people knew that the ball depicted in the show was a different ball than the ball depicted in the books, even though there were similarities.
In other words, in the show they weren't trying to replicate what was described in the books, even though there are SOME thematic similarities, and purposeful differences.
The fact that Lemony is being chased or not
The people described at the ball. Note that there are no people who died (with the exception of one Beatrice present) at the book ball. Monty, Dr. Orwell, Josephine, are not mentioned.
[Thank you again @snicketstrange, your words continue to provoke wisdom and thought into the minds of keen ASOUE fans...]

Improper affairs - Hyunjin one shot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: after being on the front lines, Hyunjin, the heir of your enemy kingdom, makes his first public appearance since his return. Hyunjin who’s also to blame for making your affair with him public.
“Y/N, people are looking! Stop that!”, your older sister, the heir to the throne of Kingdom Meawath swats your arm.
“Let them. The only good thing about this corset is that it makes my chest extra perky”, you grinned at your older sister. Her eyes behind the golden mask narrowed and she shook her head. “You seriously spend too much time with the maiden’s sons growing up”, she just commented.
“Felix and Han had more fun up their pinky than you ever could have in your whole body. Sorry, my grace”, you mumbled and looked away from your sister, looking around the ballroom for familiar faces behind the masks. This masked ball was to formally announce the engagement of your sister to the heir of the kingdom Jonasya, the handsome prince Bangchan. He had visited your kingdom multiple times before and was the best match you could have wished for your sister.
“May I have this dance with you, your grace?”, a voice grabbed your attention and you looked at the owner of the voice, a tall boy standing in front of you. “Oh, prince San. It’s so nice to see you again”, your sister exclaimed. Your spine straightened and you smiled eagerly, slipping your gloved hand into San’s. San was the second son of the kingdom of Aleleria, your neighboring kingdom. And he was also your childhood crush. Which your sister was aware of.
San led you to the dance floor, joining the other dancing couples. “I had no idea that you’re already back from the fronts. You didn’t write that you’d return soon”, you said as you began to turn, walking the steps among the line of girls. San’s smile widened as he followed the moves. “We wouldn’t have returned soon if Hyunjin and his troops didn’t come in time”
Hyunjin.
Prince Hyunjin, the heir of Haleweth.
Your enemy kingdom.
Haleweth was the only kingdom that didn’t go along well with the rest of the kingdoms.
Prince Hyunjin was the sole heir to the most powerful kingdom. Prince Hyunjin who had been your first in so many ways.
Your first kiss.
Your first scandal.
Your first person who warmed your bed.
Your enemy.
He had used you.
He had toyed with your emotions and lurked you into his trap only to let you slam into the cement of public shame when people found out. To let the people talk about your improper behavior of adultery instead of the growing commotions in his court.
And you hated him for it.
As much as your heart had longed for him, all the blooming feelings were replaced with fuming hatred and you feared being forced into a marriage with him to save your reputation. But then problems on the fronts shook the attention of the kingdom and gossip and talks had died down. Along with them the possibility of an arranged marriage between you two. You had been sent into exile by the request of your father until talks in your court also stopped and this was your first public appearance in over a year.
People had been talking left and right but San was treating you the same. You were the same girl you had been before everything went down.
“I’m glad to see that you made it back home safe. And that you were successful too”, you told him.
“It’s only thanks to the strategic leading of Hyunjin. He saved our lives out there”, San replied.
Hyunjin here, Hyunjin there.
Could there be one day when you didn’t hear that infuriating name?
“May I steal your partner, San?”, a voice cut you off in your spin, and you ended up in the arms of-
“Hyunjin?”
“Y/N”, he grinned down at you with his cocky attitude.
“Get lost, you disgust me.”, you hissed through your teeth, still following the dance steps as you were in the middle of the dance, all guests watching you. You felt the pairs of eyes glued on your skin.
“That’s not what you were saying the last time I saw you”, he whispered and his hand slowly moved up from your lower hip, his fingers tracing the silhouette of your body.
“I mean it. You had your fun, go find another doll to break”, you purposely stomped on his feet in the dance and he suck in a breath.
“Did you do this on purpose, your grace?”, he pinned you.
“You’re the smart one, you tell me. But no, keep it to yourself. I don’t ever want to see you again”, you bumped his shoulder as you walked away from the dance floor. Out of the ballroom. Just away from the people. From him. Once you arrived at a staircase, you stopped, heaving heavily. You couldn’t properly breathe with your corset, it was too tight. Your vision blurred as the humiliation crept up your throat, how dare he just dance with you after all the pain he caused you? It was always the girls that were blamed to fall into the sin of passion, never the man. His reputation was barely scratched whereas yours was tainted, ruined. It took you a lot of convincing of your father not to be married off in secret to an older noble widow man.
“This is all because of him”, you choked out with tears, trying to reach for the straps of your corset. Your fingers trembled as they couldn’t get a hold of the straps. “I’m going to murder him, I swear I will”, you sobbed, holding onto the rail of the stairs case as the tears began to roll down your face. Everything was too tight, too dark, too much.
Suddenly the tightness around your chest began to loosen and your lungs filled with air. Did the corset magically fall apart? “You’re dreaming of murdering me, huh?”, a voice walked over the exposed skin off your shoulder, leaving a trail of goosebumps.
“You can go back to the front lines and die, I couldn’t care less. I’d celebrate it when they would announce that you have passed”, you whispered, your back still facing Hyunjin. He had followed you. Has he witnessed you breaking down? You wiped away the wetness of your cheeks, your mask covering up the smeared makeup around your eyes.
“Such a wicked pretty mouth you have. Let me see it”, his hand caressed the side of your waist. Hyunjin had loosened the straps of your corset, you now realize.
Could you aim a perfect punch into his gut if you turned around? You had the urge to do so, even if you never raised your hand before.
“Y/N”, he called out and took a step closer.
You turned around and faced him. You refused to turn small in front of him, he had taken away from you.
“Why did you follow me?”, you looked into his strikingly gorgeous face. He had a scar on his eyebrow. There was no other evidence that he had been in battle.
“Why did you dance with San?”, he asked in return, eyebrows furrowed.
“Why do you even care? You made it clear what your intentions were with me. San at least has good intentions and doesn’t care about my reputation of mine”, you spat out.
“I had to manage my court”, he simply said. With no remorse or regret.
“Go manage your court affairs somewhere else, I have no interest in being part of your play”, you took a step back off the stairs but Hyunjin’s arm shot out, holding your wrist.
“Let.me.go.”
“No”
“Your grace, be kind enough to let me walk away with some dignity”, you glared at him through your mask.
“Never knew you were aware that kind words existed too, Y/N”, he said and reached out with his other hand, taking down your mask. Exposing the vulnerability of your emotions to him.
“Lying is easy when it comes to you but you should know it better, Hyunjin”, you rolled your eyes and looked away. He stood there silent and instead took a step down, closing the space between you two.
You could hear the fading sounds of the ball in the background but his close presence dizzied you. You hated it. You hated him.
“Did I tell you how much I hate you?”, you breathed out as his fingers again trailed down the side of your waist, settling on your hip. “Tell me each wicked word you think of when you think of me, Y/N”, he said and leaned in, stopping mere inches before your lips.
“We shouldn’t be here”, you whispered barely.
“I know”, he breathed out.
“We shouldn’t be doing this”, you gripped his belt to steady yourself.
“I know”, he murmured before both your lips met.

Massacre Masquerade Chap 5
Chapter 1 Chapter 4
Leon sat up suddenly, awoken by some loud sounds. Deacon and Bailey woke up when a second round of the same noises went off. They both looked startled and slightly panicked. Leon was panicked too. Those sounds had been the sound of gunshots.
The three new friends looked at each briefly, silently asking what they should do next. Without saying anything, Bailey stood up and ran over to the ladder. Shortly after her body disappeared down the side of the building.
“Bailey, wait!” Leon screamed out, scrambling to his feet to go after his sister. “You don’t know what’s down there!” Leon ran to the edge of the building, right by the beginnings of the ladder, and stared as Bailey dropped to the ground and ran towards the entrance of the building.
Leon became aware of Deacon’s presence next to him. He too was helplessly staring at the ground where Bailey had just been. Deacon and Leon glanced up at each other.
“Is she always this insane?” Deacon asked Leon. Leon shook his head in bewilderment.
“She’s always been curious, but she’s never run straight into danger because of it!”
“Well,” Deacon said, “curiosity killed the cat.” He wished he could take it back as soon as he said it when he looked at Leon’s face and saw the fear in his eyes. Fear for his sister. “Sorry,” Deacon said. He glanced back down the ladder again. “We might as well follow her, to make sure she doesn’t get hurt.” Leon nodded in silent agreement, too scared to say anything. He followed his new friend down the ladder, and the two of them ran back into the building.
The ballroom was an eruption of chaos when they entered. People were running around, screaming and in a complete panic. Leon stepped back as two people shuffled past them. One of them was supporting the other one, an arm around their waist,  helping them move through the crowd. The supported person was looking really pale, and had sweat running down their face, holding onto their companion with their arm around their shoulder. Leon noticed what he could only assume was a bullet wound in the person's leg. Deacon must have noticed it too, because when Leon glanced at him, he saw horror in the other man's eyes.
Deacon gasped, and Leon turned his direction to where Deacon’s horrified face was now looking. The sight was indeed horrifying. Right in the middle of the room, three bodies were scattered, each with multiple bullet wounds scattered across their bodies. Blood soaked their costumes and masks, seeping onto the floor in a slow moving pool of crimson. It didn’t take a detective to know they were dead as stone. Leon felt sick at the sight of them.
Sirens started blaring from all corners of the ball room, the noise just adding to the chaos. Deacon and Leon simultaneously moved their heads to see rolling garage doors coming down and blocking all the exits, mini ones blocking the windows. Everybody’s panic increased. There were cries of, “We’re locked in!” and “We’re in some really deep shit now!”
The sirens stopped when the doors hit the ground, and a brief high pitched screech came from the speakers, silencing everyone as they instinctively put their hands up to their ears. A voice started to talk from the speaker.
“Attention new knights! The building is going to go into lockdown. Nobody is going to be getting in, or out. Not until we find whoever is responsible for this madness. We suspect that this was a murder attempt, and the culprit is in this building. Until we catch them, nobody is to leave. You may be locked up in here with a maniac, but at least they won’t be able to escape outside and cause more havoc. And as knights, one of the first things you would have learned on your training, is that you need to protect society, and make sacrifices sometimes.
‘We have investigators making their way over to the building right at this minute. They will be granted access, but nobody else. For now, I advise all of you to stay calm. And stay away from people. In this situation, we don’t know who you can trust, so until it is sorted out, keep to yourself. Needless to say, the ball is cancelled.”
The silence stretched on for a while after the announcement, but the fear in everyone was clear. Some people started casually moving away from peers, others not so casually.
Leon scanned the ball room, in an attempt to find his sister. He found her sitting against a wall, and ran over to her. Deacon followed.
Bailey had her knees drawn up, and her face buried in them. Her arms were raised and she was blocking her ears with her fingers. Even when Leon and Deacon approached, she still didn’t look up. Leon kneeled down in front of her and gently grabbed her wrists, pulling her hands down. Bailey looked up at him and Leon saw there were tear tracks down her cheeks. Leon shuffled to sit directly next to her putting his arms around her shoulders, and Bailey leaned into the comfort.
Deacon stood by, unsure on what to say or do. He looked questioningly at Leon. Leon understood.
“She doesn’t like loud noises or big crowds,” he explained. A look of understanding crossed Deacon’s face.
Eventually, everybody started to calm down, and so did Bailey.
I finished it! What did you think? Comments, feedback and suggestions are very very much appreciated. Now the fun is really starting to begin -Kenickie
