Sheldon Riley wows judges with a Eurovision cover on US TV
Tumblr media
Australian singer Sheldon Riley has received a standing ovation from Simon Cowell for his performance of Loreen’s Eurovision track on America’s Got Talent.
The queer Sydney performer has showed off his amazing voice on multiple TV talent shows. Among them are the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy in 2022.
In 2020, the 24-year-old singer first performed on America’s Got Talent.
Now Sheldon has returned to Los Angeles to compete in the new series America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.
The all-stars spinoff gives former AGT finalists and fan favourites a second chance at a win.
Invited back by Simon Cowell and mentored by Mel B, this week Sheldon performed Loreen’s 2023 Eurovision-winning song Tattoo.
He got a standing ovation from judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. He’s made it through to the semi-final.

After Sheldon’s performance, Howie Mandel said he was “blown away”.
Heidi Klum told him, “You look gorgeous. You did a very beautiful rendition of that song. You nailed it. I loved it.”
Simon Cowell also said he was thrilled to have Sheldon return to AGT because he believes the singer has “unfinished business”.
“Your voice is so distinct and you’re a proper, what I would call, frontman singer,” Simon said.
“So congratulations and welcome back.”
Sheldon Riley reflects on first AGT stint in 2020
On the show, Sheldon met with Mel B and flashed back to his successful first audition in 2020.
That season, the singer took to the stage silently before performing a Billie Eilish song.
Sheldon recalled the warm response he got from the judges was so “validating” after a long personal struggle with self-acceptance.
“I’ve always had a passion for music and performing but I hated the way that I look,” he said.
“This whole concept of the mask happened. I would mask my face so I’d still be able to do what I love to do.”

Unfortunately, the pandemic closed borders and meant Sheldon had to perform remotely from Australia. He missed out on a semi-final spot that season.
“It was heartbreaking because I was on such a roll,” he said.
“I felt like I was finding myself through this show and it just halted.”
Sheldon said it was an honour to return to the show and bring Loreen’s winning Eurovision song to the US audience.
“I wanted to bring some Eurovision magic and show a side to me, the performer and creative, that I’ve kept concealed,” he said.

The Masked Singer: S11 E3 (Group C First Round/Billy Joel Night)
Four new Masks give their first performances tonight. As always, I post before seeing any unmaskings, so don’t take these guesses as spoilers.
Poodle Moth 🦋: Seen holding a cowboy hat, a book with an American flag on it. Says, “You only need to be discovered once.” Sounds like she might be an R&B or soul singer, but the cowboy hat could mean she’s a country singer or experimented with country music. I can’t pin her age, she might be middle aged. Bonus clue: A home run ball reading, “Opry”. This means she’s performed at the Grand Ole Opry. I think Trisha Yearwood is a pretty good guess. The voice sounds about right and the American flag could refer to her song “American Girl” (which is also the theme song to her Food Network show).
Clock 🕰️: A disco ball, had the whole world dancing. Clock stopped at 6:00 and says they performed for a President. Was seen spinning a golden globe. (Possible Golden Globe winner?) Definitely sounds like a woman, possibly one who became a star in the 1970s or 1980s. Just on first impressions, she sounds like Bette Midler, but I’d need more clues. The bonus clue: the Billy Joel song “Vienna”. She says, “Vienna is all about seizing the day, and I have a date in my name.” Diana Ross was also a good guess. I am officially stumped, though.
Spaghetti and Meatballs 🍝: Says they started on Wall Street. There’s a toy race car. He dances too young to be Billy Joel. 😂 My intuition is thinking this might be an actor who’s also dabbled in music and possibly race car driving. Let’s see what the bonus clue is: A giant pizza with “show time” written in pepperoni. He’s spent a good portion of his time on a hit show. I’m also stumped here. Just a wild guess, but I’ll go with Jason Priestly for now, as he’s dabbled in motorsports.
Lizard 🦎: Perceived as a ladies’ man. We see a heart-shaped lollipop. We saw a Crab 🦀 (which I think was Bobby Brown in a past season). Could he be one of Bobby’s New Edition bandmates? I’m leaning towards either Ralph Tresvant or Johnny Gill. The bonus clue: A taxi cab with a postcard reading “Billboards”. I’m thinking this has to be someone from New Edition who isn’t Bobby Brown. (And I believe spinoff group Bell Biv DeVoe also had a number one hit with “Poison”.) I’ll go with Johnny Gill, just based on the voice.

Please Stop With The Celebrity Interview Podcasts
Remember the good old days on TV and radio when celebrities were interviewed by people trained to ask questions in a public forum? Ah, the old days. A troubling and annoying trend in podcasting is the fire hose of celebrity interview shows.
I love Julia Louis Dreyfuss. I loved her in Seinfeld and especially in Veep. She has a new podcast called 50 Women Over 50. It’s pitched as a “podcast for women whose personal confidence is borne of experience. Interviews with 50 women to learn how they see the world; what lessons they’ve learned; what advice they have for us all.”
It’s just that every celebrity with a little time on their hands has plunged into the interview podcast pool, and all that splashing has listeners wondering how they ended in the deep end of this ego-stroking pool.
Celebrity podcasts have overwhelmed the sea wall built to protect listeners from celebrity self-love, self-absorption, and self-actualization.
Tumblr media
We have the heavy hitters like Meghan Markle in Archetypes and Michelle Obama and then the lesser-known celebs like Justin Long, Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop (Heaven help us), and Seth Rogen.
It’s not that all of these celebrity podcasts are bad — except for Snooki & Joey — but like true-crime podcasts, there are just too many of them.
There are so many of these podcasts that there is a podcast called the Celebrity Podcast Podcast that covers celebrity podcasts. Talk about meta.
So I know what you’re saying? What’s your problem?
After all, broadcast TV has lovable trash like The Bachelor and Bachelorette and The Masked Singer. Discovery has an entire channel dedicated to skewering humanity with shows like 1000-lb Sisters and MILF Manor (jeez).
No problem. To each its own. But TV also has Abbott Elementary, Ghosts, Yellowstone, and 60 Minutes.
My problem is that I’m frightened that podcasting will be the recycling plant for celebrities with nothing to do or those with fading careers inundating the medium. Podcasting already has a problem with the true-crime genre overwhelming the medium.
Podcasting, like TV and radio, is a zero-sum game. We are definitely seeing that now in streaming TV, where execs just woke up and realized streaming isn’t a moneymaker. On TV, for example, all those Chicago shows, NCIS spinoffs, or Law And Order franchises crowd out other potential shows that offer viewers quality programming at a similar cost.
In podcasting, there are some terrific interview shows. Fresh Air, WTF with Marc Maron, How I Built This, Vox Conversations, Jemele Hill Is Unbothered, and The Jordan Harbinger Show, and so many more.
With Spotify and other networks pulling back on money and resources for podcasting, every new celebrity podcast means one less potential quality podcast from a person listeners have not yet heard of.
There’s an old maxim in entertainment — and in life — that media execs will always destroy a good show, by giving the audience too much of a good thing.
In 2001, ABC put on its hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with Regis Philbin four nights a week. At the time, the show was riding the crest of incredible ratings, societal ubiquity, and the public’s obsession with the latest shiny new object. So what happened? The show got canceled because viewers eventually got tired of all that overexposure.
Back to celebrity podcasts. How many is too many? Sometimes, it seems like every celebrity has a podcast. Does a celebrity on a reality show who became famous for “Karen” behavior really deserve a podcast? And isn’t that podcast going to crowd out the aspirational podcasters who start their own interview shows without the spotlight of having received a rose ten years ago on a reality TV show?
Marc Maron was not a celebrity when he started his podcast out of his garage. Believe it or not, Joe Rogan was simply a former reality show TV host when he started his podcast.
Are all those celebrity podcasts flooding the podcasting space, crowding out the potential for unknowns to surface and become household names? Is podcasting becoming Kardashian-ized like reality TV?
It’s bad enough that Dr. Phil has a podcast. So no more TV castoffs and celebrity laughingstocks on podcasts. If celebrities are sliding into podcasting, please make it people like Dreyfuss, Lupita Nyong’o, and Emma Watson.
For me, the best celebrity podcast is Clear+Vivid with Alan Alda. Smart, intellectually curious, and far-ranging, the show is, as one reviewer commented, “The perfect mix of insightful and humanistic conservation.”

Your boy didn’t just WIN trivia for the first time ever tonight, your boy WAS THE REASON WE WON! Fuck yeah! Yes, I am drunk on a Wednesday, but you bet your ass I have an excuse. Earlier in the night, a member of our team bet a round that he was right and I was wrong (spoiler, I was right) so he bought a round. I got a shot of tequila and OOF did it push me over my limit. Tomorrow at work will be fun.
But anyways, we were dead last in the first half which SUCKED. We were doing fucking terrible. Then somehow by some miracle, in the second half we got back up to 2nd place (out of 9 teams) and the final question was COMPLETELY IN MY BALLPARK so I was the ONLY ONE able to guess it 100% correct, and you bet your ass I bet the whole kitchen sink on that one baby, and we got it right which pushed up STRAIGHT UP TO FIRST.
Anyways, Marriage Rescue, Masked Dancer, and Cajun Pawn Stars are in fact real shows that are spinoffs of Bar Rescue, Masked Singer, and Pawn Stars. But don’t be fooled, because Extreme Makeover: Car Edition and Top Chef: Tapas Edition are NOT real spinoffs. That was the final which your boy knew the answers to. (Admittedly, I didn’t know for sure if Extreme Makeover Car Edition existed or not so I just took a gamble, so this was like a 50/50 shot, but the rest I knew 100% for sure).
Also fun fun fact: The book immediately after Leviticus in the Torah is Numbers. Weirdly, the trivia lady said the category for this question was “The Bible” which uh…it wasn’t, but whatever. We did not get that one. I’m Jewish by blood, not by creed, clearly.
Also also fun fun fact: Belophobia is the fear of NEEDLES, not beauty. The bitch asses on my team did not trust my judgment and swore it was beauty. (Needles)s to say, we got that wrong.
Also also also fun fun fact: Bert and Ernie…they exist, I guess. I forgot the question.

My Modern ADSOM AU Overview
AKA stuff for my lightly-thought-out AU that is basically just a throwaway for funny/lighthearted stuff. It’s also the foundation for the Studs and Spikes + Theater AUs; both of them are basically just Modern AU spinoffs with a few tweaks.
- The uber-rich Maresh family includes Maxim, Emira, Rhy, and Kell. Their wealth was inherited from both parents’ families; most of Emira’s family is centered in acting and the Maresh have a history in architecture and large construction projects like ships and stuff. Kell and Rhy each have their own places; Kell in a studio loft, Rhy in a mini-mansion of his own. They all are much less directly dysfunctional than in the books but still have their issues, most of which are centered around their inability to discuss their problems with each other.
- The also uber-rich Vortalis-Dane-Vosijk family (no central last name) is made up of Vortalis, Astrid, Athos, and Holland. Vortalis is the adoptive father of the other three; he adopted Holland first, then the Danes, and they all lived in the mountains for a while before he ended up inheriting an estate and fortune from his cousin, Gorst, of whom he was the sole surviving relative. The kids took well to their new lifestyle; Vortalis didn’t. He stuck around long enough to make sure all of his kids had grown up and were established in their careers before he went to go live in the mountains again. The Danes + Holland still visit him frequently, as they are all extremely close to one another.
- Kell works in multiple jobs, but typically does modelling (especially for coats) and occasionally acting. Rhy has yet to find a specific job, but he keeps himself busy helping Maxim run the family businesses and philanthropizing.
- Athos is both a painter and a composer- he’s famous both for his work and his punk style, which doesn’t always match the fine arts events he participates in. Astrid is an author (historical nonfiction or thrillers), a jewelry artist, and a part-time metalsmith that specializes in historical weaponry. Holland is an actor who is most well-known for his historical, literary, and drama works, including a particularly stunning Pride and Prejudice film (this is where he met Talya- who played Elizabeth- and things didn’t go well).
- Alucard is an estranged member of the Emery family (they work in shipping) who spent a little time dealing with the law before he settled down and became a pop star. Lila’s a rock star who’s currently collaborating on an album with Alucard.
- Alucard is openly dating Rhy and is happily accepted by Maxim and Emira; the incident that left him estranged from his own family is the reason the Maresh company no longer works with the Emerys. Kell is still iffy about Alucard, but that’s mostly due to their personalities clashing and both of their (somewhat minor) criminal records.
Now that the set-up’s out of the way, random fun stuff:
- The younger characters (the main 5 +the Danes) all hang out a lot; they all run in the same circles and generally get along well. It’s not exactly easy for most of the group to make close friends anyway, so they’ll take what they can get.
- Maxim is a huge history and metal nerd himself; he has his own forge and likes to make fantasy armor and swords. Both he and Astrid competed on Forged and Fire against each other once, and it was a really close fight (Astrid won, but only due to her slightly-superior history knowledge).
- The Essen Tasch is just the Masked Singer; Rhy was invited to judge and several characters competed; Kell because he was angry at Maxim and Emira and wanted an outlet, the Danes because they were invited to as a set, and Holland because he wanted to keep the Danes from winning. There were more involved too (I may have written all of this out- don’t judge me, it’s a fun show).
- The group’s favorite thing to do together is play Just Dance, and they all have songs they specialize in. Rhy and Kell are good at Crucified, Athos loves the extreme version of Circus, Astrid and Holland both excel at Hey Mama, Alucard can do the Rasputin dance, and Lila can do Moves Like Jagger.
- Kell still has a coat obsession, but nobody can figure out which of his coats is actually his favorite. There’s like forty of them and he wears a different one every day.
- Maxim’s retirement plan is to open a history museum.
- Kell met both of his bio parents and immediately regretted it.
- Osaron is a legit cryptid that Athos swears he once lured into his garage with candy, but everyone’s pretty sure it was just a weird dream he had after watching ET. They’re wrong though.
That’s most of what I’ve got for now! Anybody have any questions about the AU?

You have to imagine that for nearly two decades at CBS, suggesting that Tuesday leadoff hitter NCIS change time slots (let alone days) was akin to saying Macbeth in a theater.
And yet the 19th season of TV’s most watched drama is set to unspool Mondays at 9/8c, starting Sept. 20, where it will bridge a block of sitcoms (The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola) and the freshman spinoff NCIS: Hawai’i.
Speaking with TVLine during CBS’ day at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said that in moving NCIS for the first time ever, “We hope to improve the [Monday] time period significantly, and we hope that it can be a strong lead-in to help launch NCIS: Hawai’i.”
During the 2020-21 TV season, All Rise in the Mondays-at-9 time slot averaged 5.7 million total viewers and a 0.7 demo rating (with DVR playback folded in), leading out of The Neighborhood/Abishola‘s 6.7 mil/0.9 average.
NCIS, meanwhile, last season averaged 12.6 million viewers and a 1.2 rating — though there is every chance those numbers will dip due to the time slot change (it will now air opposite The Voice, Dancing With the Stars and Monday Night Football), and also as the procedural navigates one of its most significant cast transitions (detailed here).
“We realize that we can’t take [the time slot change] for granted,” Kahl said. “We have to help educate people and let them know where it’s moving to.”
But even in a best case scenario, is CBS ready for NCIS to possibly lose its long-held title as “TV’s most watched drama,” which it last and only briefly ceded to This Is Us, three years ago?
“Well, we haven’t lost it yet,” Kahl noted with a chuckle, “so we’ll hang onto it as long as we can. I will say that fans of that show are a diehard bunch, so I don’t foresee losing a lot of them with the time period change.”
(For what it’s worth, TV’s second most watched drama last season was… CBS’ own The Equalizer, and FBI placed third. So the Eye network is poised to keep the title in-house.)
TVLine also ran another of our Burning Fall TV Questions by Kahl, asking why Tough as Nails — airing Wednesdays at 9/8c this fall — is being sandwiched between a highly anticipated, delayed season of Survivor and the similarly anticipated CSI: Vegas sequel series.
Tough as Nails‘ sophomore cycle averaged 3.8 million viewers and a 0.6 rating (opposite both Fox’s The Masked Singer and NBC’s Chicago Med, mind you), whereas Survivor‘s most recent fall run drew double that. So it would seem that by not giving CSI: Vegas a direct Survivor lead-in, money is being left on the table.
Kahl said the thinking behind Wednesday’s scheduling is two-fold.
“We think that fan interest in CSI: Vegas will be such that, hopefully, they’ll come to the show wherever it is on the schedule,” he explained. Secondly, “we are certainly hoping that Tough as Nails is going to get a boost from having a Survivor lead-in,” seeing as “we’ve never really given Tough as Nails the support it probably deserved as a new show, ” he admitted. “We kind of threw it to the wolves in the middle of a pandemic, but it has performed really, really well.”
By pairing Tough as Nails with reality-TV veteran Survivor, the hope is to make the relative newcomer “into a bigger franchise for us, so that CSI: Vegas isn’t a complete self-starter at 10 o’clock,” Kahl added. “All time slots are important to us, and 10 o’clock is something we cannot slack off on, because it’s important to our local stations, and to late night as well.”

“Fox announced its fall schedule Monday, revealing that “9-1-1” universe fans will no longer be enjoying the shows back to back in the first half of the 2021-22 season, as spinoff “9-1-1: Lone Star” has been pushed to midseason.
Mondays this fall will still be anchored by “9-1-1” at 8 p.m., but will lead into the new Scott Foley-led drama “The Big Leap” in the 9 o’clock slot. However, that freshman series will wrap by midseason, when “Lone Star” will once again join its sister series in the Monday block.“
Okay. I’m glad for the renewals, but I’m kind of bitter about this. Ngl. I’m not gonna complain because at least they’ve been renewed, but also god damn it.

any korean variety show recs?
alright so saddle up because this is long
for new watchers who know next to nothing about the korean entertainmentindustry, wants to learn more abt culture:
abnormal summit, esp s1. group of semi-diverse expat panel discussculture/issues and how it pertains/compares to south korea and their owncountries. also ngl some of the panels are hot so shoutout to sam oykere anddaniel from australia.
first time in korea. changing guest of long-time expats bring their friendsover to south korea to experience the culture for the first time. you getrambunctious friend shenanigans and crash course of interesting places to visit+ eat.
korean food table. long-ass running, well-beloved food show. im hungry.
for new watchers who want to get into it because of the hallyu wave:
x-man. the start of it all. fixed members and guests play games and try tofigure out who is the spy among them. the precursor to running man. it endedyears ago but it’s LEGENDARY. i can’t tell u how many clips from some eps thatare still being played on other shows today. see your favorite stars at theirmost humble of beginnings. introduction to the dominating MCs of today: yoojaesuk and kang hodong.
happy together s3 (the sauna version). the only talk show of its kind withequal number of male and female mcs (sad ik). funny as hell, even withnon-celebs guests. way back when even jun hyun moo, the MC with the most showson his belt right now, was a nobody and made his bread and butter dancing toshinee’s Lucifer. great talking segments which i’m sad they got rid off in thelater iterations.
strong heart. a talk show where celebs share interesting stories from theirlives. if you can manage through kang hodong’s overly boisterous MC style, there are some absolute gems from this show but imo just watch based on theguests. also lee seunggi!
knowing brothers. popular talk show with a school-like setting. imo watch it based on the guests, again if you can manage through kang hodong lmao
i can see your voice. celebrity guests try to guess if a person is a good singer or tonedeaf.already multiple versions in asian countries. honestly surprised americansdon’t get in on this.
masked singer. a panel try to guess who the voice from an unknown, masked singer belongsto. i don’t know why they made an american version since the formula is onlythrilling with a tight-knit industry but ok!
weekly idol. if you’re into kpop, surely you’ve seen random dancing segmentsby now. watch it based on who you stan i guess.
doesn’t care about idols, just want to have fun:
new journey to the west. cast travels to a country and needs to win gamesfor food/sleeping place/dragon balls. fuckinnnn??? hilarious?? established cast and production team chemistry (from their previous show, 1night2days) so even the pilot doesn’t have new cast awkwardness. stellar editingand ingeniously entertaining yet simple games. they’re not afraid to rip eachother apart (some of the members’ have some…interesting past which is fun tobring up).
i live alone. a clip show of an average day of celebs who live alone. while it does haverotating celeb guests, the major draw of the show is the permanent panelmembers established in 2017, esp park narae (who is a legitimately talentedentertainer and tbh deserves better! you’ll get what i mean when u watch theshow!!).
omniscient interfering interview. clips of daily lives of celebs and their managers (who in the industry arealways in the shadows but now it’s their time to shine). wildly popular thateven most of their managers have shot for commercials. watch for the fooddescriptions from lee youngja which was a career-defining talent for her thatshe won the channel’s top entertainment award. the first woman to have everdone so across all three major channels.
infinite challenge. this show has a LOT of episodes but imo watch these specials: the ballroom dance eps, the summer music festivals, bobsleigh challenge, calender model challenge, extreme part-time job, history x hip-hop, the jack black eps, saturday saturday i am a singer, and the (very incredible, very powerful) express delivery special. iconique.
running man. i’m amazed that this show is still airing. the choi minsoo eps and sherlockeps are one of the show’s stand-out. again, if you’re into the cast chemistry, check this out.
2 days 1 night (s1, skip to s4). where the new journey to the west’s cast chemistry and production team isfortified! season 1 was very popular but it ended because the director wantedto pursue his studies. season 2 and season 3 tried to capture its magic with new casts and directors but it just wasn’t the same. when season 4 came ploddingalong, people thought it’ll be canceled soon enough. the newest director was amentee of the original director though and with great luck in the new cast, season 4was herald as the show’s comeback. the ‘no smoking’ episode was brilliant. edit post chatroom scandal: from the bottom of my heart, don’t watch s4 because of one member who is an honest-to-god piece of shit.
what on earth??. an underrated show! a limited series of four men who embarks in a dangerouscross country trip. the first few eps was set in a Qatar desert, the next inthe wetlands of Scotland. educational, good chemistry btwn the members, sharpediting. also not gonna lie part of the reason i did watch this was for ji jinhee. sue me i was in a jtbc misty withdrawal! shares the same director as 2d1n season 4!
sister’s slam dunk. a rare show with an all-female cast with the premise of fulfilling eachmember’s dream with the help of the other members. honestly just watch seasonone for min hyorin’s dream of debuting as an idol (hence dragging in the othermembers too, much to the chagrin of the older members). if you like thechemistry between members enough, stick around! the cast is funny andcharismatic and it’s just (sniffs) i love women! i still bop to the songs onthe regular too.
doesn’t care about guests, just want to relax (my fave kind):
lee hyori’s bed and breakfast. popstar lee hyori and husband opens up their home as a bread and breakfast. depression? cured! streamit on netflix!
little house in the forest. this show is glacial…in the best waypossible. it’s like an ingmar bergman film. honestly best to watch when you’rein bed ready to sleep
youn’s kitchen. legendary actress youn yeo jung opens a restaurant in a foreigncountry with season one in indonesia, season two in italy. idyllic af.
hodong’s kitchen. a spinoff show with the cast from new journey to thewest (they won a bet that if they win a game, their wish is to shoot a showlike youn’s kitchen since they share the same director). if you like the njttwcast and want to see them run a small restaurant, here’s your show!
blind date cafe. what it says on the can. blind dates are done in a cafe withwaitservice that consist of musician lee juck, actress yoo inna, comedian yang sehyung and sf9 member rowoon. it’s very…cishet lmao buti love yoo inna and will watch her wait for paint to dry. some of the couplesare EXTREMELY valid tho (if anything, watch for the webtoon artist andchildrens horror book author! i STAN their love!)
coffee friends. actors set up a cafe. fulfill your coffee shop au daydreamwith yoo yoon seok here!
may food bless you. a team of close female friends that consist of actress hwayeong and comedian lee youngja, song euni, and kim sook gives advice and suggest food to aid for submitted concerns while having a meal. a great show to watch while having dinner.
note: these shows…aren’t perfect. lemme be upfront that there can be elements of casual -isms in them (the relaxing shows are generally okay tho) and i’m just gonna leave it at that.

'The Masked Singer' Season 6: Costumes, Premiere Date, Theories & Everything To Know
Tumblr media
If you’ve been keeping up with The Masked Singer, you know that there are still several un-maskings to come before the Season 5 finale on May 26 — and other big questions to be answered, too, like who is Cluedle-Doo? Fortunately, at least one question about The Masked Singer has been answered officially: The show will go on! As reported by Deadline on May 17, Fox renewed the beloved show for a sixth season set to air this fall. Thanks to the show’s immense popularity and guests like Kermit the Frog masquerading as the Snail, the news of a renewal wasn’t all that surprising.
Season 5 was also defined by a pandemic-induced hosting switch (Niecy Nash stepped in when Nick Cannon contracted COVID), as well as the introduction of new elements like wildcards and the mysterious feathered Cluedle-Doo. Now, with Season 6 on its way, you might assume that the next installment will be even more of a wild ride — and you’re probably right. Here is everything we know about The Masked Singer Season 6 so far, including its premiere date and its role in the ever-expanding “Masked Universe.”
The Masked Singer Season 6 Costumes
We don’t yet know what bizarre costumes Season 6’s contestants will be sporting by fall, but Season 5’s looks set a high bar. Plus, the playful addition that is Cluedle-Doo could become a recurring character in Season 6 and beyond. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if the character returns in feathered form or another equally punny creature is added to the lineup.
The Masked Singer And The Masked Universe
Fox hasn’t announced whether or not The Masked Singer’s spinoff, The Masked Dancer, will be returning alongside the original show. As reported by Deadline May 17, that decision is still being made. “We are just figuring out where it fits into our Masked strategy,” Fox’s alternative chief, Rob Wade, told the outlet. “We’re looking to see where and when that would play best.”
Whether or not The Masked Dancer returns, though, the possibilities for more Masked antics are endless. According to Deadline, at a Television Critics Association session in March, the producers were receptive to theoretical spinoffs like The Masked Chef or The Masked Athlete. The Masked Singer camp isn’t worried about possible intra-universe competition with those shows, though. As judge Ken Jeong said, “The Masked Singer is the mothership.”
If the evolution of the Masked Universe is as imminent as it seems, then Season 6 would provide the perfect opportunity to introduce it. Either way, the upcoming installment will be one to watch — even if only to see how well it meets the heights of Season 5’s surprises.
In the meantime... move over, MCU. In response to Reddit user JKCompany’s impressive poster for the Masked Universe, featuring all the fluffy, feathered, oddball costumes from past contestants, user DJ-TheWolf-1000 wondered when we might see the franchise’s version of the Avengers. Fox, the viewers need answers ASAP.
The Masked Singer Season 6 Premiere Date
So far, Fox has announced that The Masked Singer will return on Wednesdays this fall, keeping with its two seasons per year schedule. For those hoping for additional news on future Masked Singer seasons, Deadline reported Fox has not yet announced a Season 7.
This post will be updated with costumes, the premiere date, and additional details as more information on The Masked Singer Season 6 becomes available.
