u really have to hand it to jojo tichakorn et al for delivering on only friends like it is exactly what it says on the tin. not just the writing and the acting but the wardrobe, the score, the YOLO bar, the dark sexy pink light mood. finally some good fucking food. we got heartbreak and fixed couple mix-matching and a friend group plagued with secrets at the core. we got (mostly) likable characters tbh, with handfuls of significantly unsavory traits thrown in to make everything between them more complex and gray. we got pairings varied in their dynamics, each their own unique shade of sweet and fucked up, each with an endgame that looks like a big old question mark. we got high drama that’s been ramping up more and more with each passing ep. we got boston.

we’re halfway through the series and the seeds of discord have been been sown and i don’t know where everyone’s going to end up but it probably ain’t going to be pretty!! which is everything i could have hoped for by now from the highly anticipated red flag show. it’s nice to have high hopes for a thing and not be disappointed
