I had a shower thought and wouldn't it be kinda funny if mc borrowed one of the first year's pen and jokingly yelled Expecto Patronum and a patronus actually does come out or mc quotes Hermione's iconic line from the first movie ("it's Levi OSA not LevioSAA")

“So do the pens themselves contain magic, or is it just a medium for it?”

Ace shrugs, before tossing his over to you. Twisting it around your hands, you have to admit, it was a very pretty pen. A jewel embedded on the top, gold lining the curves of the pen.

Ace waves his hand around, gesturing to nothing in particular.

“Try it then. If the pen’s magic, you’ll be able to do something. If it’s not… then it’s as useless as you.”

He cracks up, doubling over in laughter. Throwing a pillow at his face, you sigh.

It’ll be nice if you could do a fraction of what these students took for granted.

“Right….” You held the pen out, jewel pointing at Ace.

“Anything works, right?”

He shrugs, a cocky smirk dancing on his lips.

“Try me, prefect.”

Jackass.

You wave the pen wildly, thrusting it forward.

“Boom!” You cry, much to Ace’s amusement. A spark grew on the end of the pen. It floated over to Ace, an light airy quality to it.

Before it landed on his tie, roasting it to cinders. Swears were shouted, water was thrown.

The result?

Ace with the smoking remains of his tie, soaked to the bone.

A prefect who’s gained the reputation as Housewarden of Destruction. Crowley had good reason not to give them a pen of their own.
