It is kinda cute how the Duffers' writing is rated on here. Cuz like that isn't how shit works at all. But ya guys, make it work. And also be patronising as hell while you're at it. The treatment of POC characters or homo-sexuality/phobia (yes that too, sowie) and war and cop worship and sexism and classism and mental health (people not named Max exist) are not exceptions to what is otherwise stellar writing. What the hell are y'all on about? Especially treatment of POC characters.
Ya cuz I'm only keeping my eyes peeled open to see where they falter and ooh POC. Bad Duffers! Everything else is dope I say. Like that's a compartmentalisation that even works. It's not a gangrenous arm that you get to cut off n then be like.....woah now you're gangrene free. Nope it's part of the whole show. You can't discount it to rate the writing. Hello. How's that the only thing you discount (cuz other stuff is considered good writing in most circles)? And then say: the Duffers are great writers but....... No the duffers are mid writers because.......
That's how the sentence is supposed to start bitch. That's how stuff's rated. Go take a course on haterism. It's more holistic. Holistic shitting >>>>>>>>>>> compartmentalised dick riding.
Roger Ebert would have 4 starred everything if he had the foresight y'all have. Just forget the bad parts exist. Four stars that it ended right? Be for fucking real.
P.S. I see who RBs what from where and how the tags differ depending on who is RBed and lemme just say the call is coming from inside the circlejerk cuz you bitches dunno how to dial a number that's not listed in your faves. Tell me you care about Tumblr celebrity without telling me you care about Tumblr celebrity.
P.P.S. I'm POC in that I'm brown. But also not in that my wholeass country is brown. But yet there's shit desis from the des are understanding better than people living in multi-cultural (in terms of countries) / multi-racial race obsessed countries. Which is 🤯
P.P.P.S. Not thinking that one sensitive plotline will be handled well because another sensitive plotline barely exists or is fumbled over massively is perfectly sensible. (Re: homophobia)

Re: Em Friedman, I personally always got the impression that they're just a big fan is Aabria cuz I think Aabria was one of their first guests(?) in their TTRPG class
And that's why to me all the coverage about Acofaf, WBN and now Burrows End reads with kind of a biased perspective
Like, I love WBN but as you said, it's not really doing anything innovative per se, and the whole coverage and hype about the Bear episode in Burrows End really made it anti-climactic when the episode aired
Idk, maybe I'm wrong, but a lot of the Actual Play coverage from Polygon (not just Em) seems kind of like D20 and WBN circlejerk while they're more than happy to throw CR under the bus
Oh interesting. Like, I do get that Actual Play is not a particularly massive community and I could see how someone who interviews players regularly might end up becoming close to them and generally that maintaining distance and journalistic integrity is uniquely difficult, but also like. Here's the thing. I know Critical Role is The 800 lb Gorilla in the actual play space; no one else is selling out Wembley Arena. I don't mind if they're not getting the same boosts from publications, because they don't really need it and people love an underdog and all that. It's still not great, that this bias exists, but Critical Role is much harder to keep up with because it is at this point 8 years of content to fully know what's going on in Campaign 3, whereas you could have someone binge watch ACOFAF in a long weekend.
What gets me is that it's not just fawning and biased. It's ignorant of the actual play genre and claiming things that are flat out untrue. "Critical Role isn't as good as Dimension 20" is an opinion. I don't agree with it but it's a valid position for someone to have, and even journalists are entitled to preferences. But like, again: TAZ Balance started at level 1, with the party obtaining a legendary and dangerous artifact at a low level, and it started in late 2014. NADDPod campaign 1 also started at level 1 and ran up to level 20, and it began in early 2018.
Longform D&D/Pathfinder are also not new. Both of the examples above ran over 60 episodes; NADDPod's first campaign was an even 100. Rusty Quill Gaming ran an impressive 218 over 8 years, though they tended to stick to about an hour long per episodes so it's closer to NADDPod in actual hours of gameplay. Obviously Critical Role, while unedited and not a podcast primarily, has had 100+ episode campaigns. All of these were also set in homebrew worlds, though TAZ was extremely loosely based on Forgotten Realms to start, and RQG was essentially a divergent history of our world. So what, precisely, other than the Children's Adventure, makes WBN different? Like...I know fandoms struggle to understand this but it does not do anyone a single fucking favor to act like well-executed but traditional formats (or solid but par for the course work) is radical and innovative genius! It doesn't make me say "wow, WBN is clearly groundbreaking." It makes me go "wow, Polygon's coverage is written by a fucking idiot who's unfamiliar with the landscape of actual play."
What gets me about the bear episode is that it was also, in my opinion, very well-executed and an interesting battle, but it was not like, any different from another battle map except that the production team did a really good job making it slightly gorier than the norm. That's it. And as for the twist...look, again, I'm reserving final judgment, but I keep thinking about this (regrettably it is from Orson Scott Card, who is both a homophobic asshole, and also wrote "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy" which was my introduction to Octavia Butler and genuinely informs my understanding of the genre to this day):
"If you are using a known foreign language, by the way, take the time and effort to get it right. Among your readers there will always be someone who speaks that language like a native. If you get it wrong, those readers lose faith in you - and rightly so. Wherever you can be truthful, you should be truthful; if your readers can see that you're acting by that credo, they'll trust you, and you'll deserve their trust. But if they catch you faking it, and doing it so carelessly that you can easily be caught, they'll figure that if the story wasn't worth much effort to you, it shouldn't be worth much to them, either. They may still like the story, but you have blunted the edge of their passion."
This is both what I'm worried might end up being true re: Burrow's End (except instead of a foreign language I speak like a native, it's How Radiation Works) but it's also true in that like...all of those longform campaigns? I've watched or listened to them in full. Acting like it's innovation to...do a thing that's been done by so many other prominent actual plays is not even reading to me as bias. It's reading to me as a combination of wildly misplaced priorities (genuinely I think between this and the ask meme I'm like "hmmm have we considered that we're asking a huge amount from a niche medium and acting like it is the responsibility of a bunch of actors with dice to constantly reinvent the artform in which they work and dismantle the kyriarchy and prevent us from getting into arguments with our friends, instead of, as WBN's own page says, play games to make stories out of sound?") and also just. Ignorance. This is a person who is talking about something they genuinely don't know about. Why should I listen? I mean the bias doesn't help, but really it's the ignorance that kills it.

Ruka, I just wanna express my condolences for the Drizzt fandom being such a pain on here. Made me realize that I got lucky just finding the books randomly in a store and picking em up because they looked cool. Absolutely 0 background info or interaction with the fandom, just purely immersing myself in the series for weeks and sharing some highlights with friends. Hope the haters leave you alone and you can just keep enjoying the series for what it is.
Honestly that was close to my experience once I finally got to reading them and not just absorbing What People Knew About Them, I tore through all the books without looking them up at all or stepping into the fandom even a little bit haha, which means I got to get through them all without watching people dump on them near-constantly like Drizzt is the worst series ever made.
It's part of why I love them so much, because when I finally got to sit down and read the damn things my opinion completely reversed, that's how hard they won me over. The books are full of love for their characters, their setting, and are respectful of the reader's time, and I do love them for that.
Which, uh, was a double nasty surprise when I went to look for cute fanart and found a tag filled with weird circlejerking about how much everybody hates Drizzt and the author (what is with the weird fucking ad hominem btw, like you can't just say you don't like the writing style, the author is also responsible for everything wrong with drow and dnd).
Like I hadn't already absorbed a shit ton of jokes by osmosis about how Drizzt is a mopey bitch who's so sad and tragic and brooding and also found out that was...a total fucking lie actually, so it wasn't a great atmosphere to run into and did not endear me to a lot of the community here :/ It's improved massively of course, but the fact that intensely negative people have been running the show for as long as this site has existed is fucking dumb actually.
ALSO PEOPLE KEPT LEAVING SHITTY COMMENTS ON MY CUTE FANART POSTS IN THE TAGS WHICH WAS REALLY ANNOYING ACTUALLY I DIDNT LIKE THAT VERY MUCH. I ENJOY THAT PEOPLE ENJOYED MY EARLY FANART BUT I DID NOT ENJOY PEOPLE LEAVING DISPARAGING COMMENTS ABOUT HOW BOOKS I HADNT READ SUCKED.
But honestly it's fine. I can handle a few weird comments even if they annoy the hell out of me (and are often demonstratably completely wrong, like cmon if you're going to be an asshole at least be correct about the stuff you like), I don't like it when people leave weird comments on the stuff of people who are just starting or clearly enjoying the books because it's so out of pocket but all I can do is write or draw to counteract that effect and clean up the tag a little.
I feel worse for the people who have loved this series from childhood honestly. There's so much negativity surrounding Drizzt and I can't imagine how exhausting that must be to never have a place to talk about a series that means a lot to you because the general accepted opinion is that you hate it, the series sucks, and everyone is in some sort of bizarre love-hate orbit because The Author Loves Me Not and His Characters Are Wasted On Him, He's A Hack.
So yeah, hope you continue to enjoy yourself with it too anon :)b

edinburgh by night update
recap first since it's been over a month since last session:
the ventrue seneschal staged a coup and ousted the toreador prince by framing her for sabbat collusion. he's now prince and backed by a ventrue justicar and her archon, the new seneschal. also a ventrue
the coterie staged a big fight so that we can help from both inside the cam and within the anarchs. mitra (ravnos) and sami (brujah) are playing the role of dutiful cammie loyalist while del (toreador thinblood) and delores (lasombra) help the anarchs
there's a hidden sub-sub-basement in the club mitra owns, and he and sami constructed a sewer entrance so the coterie (and del and tara) can still meet discretely
end of recap!! new session started with the coterie meeting up in the basement of the club to figure out a game plan
first we need an object that belonged to delores' sire so del can hook her up with the 'communicate with kindred sire' ritual. del killed her own sire (twice) so now her line is dead and she can mix her blood with another kindred's to perform the ritual for them
call up our boy beckett to ask him because delores' sire was kind of a big deal and he might know something. he sure does!! they were friends and coterie mates once, and he has a bookmark she loaned him
ritual time! delores learned that her bloodline is able to control a massive abyss monster called the leviathan, and she can use this to help aelsidhe reunite with del. eventually. it's in madrid rn and her sire's trapped at the bottom of the ocean
sami and mitra deal with soooooo much bullshit politic circlejerk stuff at elysium. they see tara!!! she looks so relieved to see them and also so fucking sad. st says it's clear that she misses del but she has to put on her ironclad Tremere Primogen mask so no one else sees. she and the boys pretend not to know each other (no one knows that she and del are together)
sami and mitra are Pretend Boyfriends* (*not very pretend at all) and harkins tries to rub lyons' (mitra's other partner) nose in this. lyons and mitra are already pretending not to be together, and lyons already knows about/is cool with mitra being poly. fuck you harkins
every time someone asks about the coterie breakup sami and mitra are like "yeah well you know delphine, that violent asshole bitch, and delores was always too.....................religious. yeah, we got sick of the catholic shit." this works every time
ventrue justicar rolls up with the staked prince of glasgow (brujah) whose sire was the prince of edinburgh 2 princes before harkins. the brujah primogen of edinburgh, who was besties and possibly lovers with said deceased prince, has a fit and insists on sitting in on the interrogation so the ventrue don't pull some shady shit
mitra and sami are in the room, the justicar leaves, the room fills with shadow and when the lights come back the brujah primogen and prince of glasgow are piles of ash. we're 90% sure this is the new lasombra sheriff's doing. same dude who claims to be delores sire but isn't, and who definitely wants to control the leviathan himself but can't because he isn't of delores' bloodline

I know it's just fanservice but if Masters has Ash' event be some "he's cooler than Red" circlejerk instead of getting into the fact that they're literally countepart from different dimensions I'm rioting.
I'm even willing to buy Ash's massive amounts of circumstantial plot armour as being capable of making him defeat Red (even though the latter is objectively much stronger than him lorewise, which is not a diss against Ash- I could talk about why imo Red should stay the strongest trainer from a narrative perspective but the post would get too long), but not if it comes with no actual aknowledgment of the separate continuities they come from.
There is so much potential that comes with this situation that I see going unaddressed for now and I'm afraid they'll end up wasting this massive chance they've been given.
Please don't fuck this up.

I hate having to start from square one here
fuck everything going on on Twitter
it's not even like I had a huge following over there but at least I had *something*
I hate having to tag shit I hate being buried under massive social circlejerks that have existed since 2009 I hate not being able to find other small accounts organically
no character limit is nice but at what cost
I just want to not feel like I'm yelling at a wall

Ah, I think after seeing a good comic but with a cutesy artstyle, I understand the issue with trans messaging to non-dysfunctional republicans that are mostly in name.
Trans messaging is too cute, or too descriptively gross. It's either messaging for the general public, or messaging for...themselves.
I read alot of posts that use all sorts of verbiage, and against my will I have learned them, which is fine, but understand I have no interest reading anything that has descriptor after descriptor after descriptor.
Ya'll're just people man. I'm glad ya celebrate your culture and fully say "fuck you I am Myself". But recognize life, humanity, isn't predisposed to caring about another person in a country that actively sets you up to be against one another.
In terms of the internet personality, what is shown, understand I am just as cringed and annoyed on a trans page as a republicans, just not as depressed and pissed off. Intention will do that, when someone is being themself and someone is being a nazi.
At the end of the day, I just feel ya'll are chill, awesome, very understanding, thoughtful, empathetic, smart, all the positives.
You're just...not cool. Not "cool" as in good, but appealing to anyone but yourselves. Ya'll trip over yourselves to echobox amongst yourselves in excitement finally finding someone likeminded just to circlejerk.
Straight dudes by and large are turned off by pink due to historic cultural bullshit reasons. The fact ya'll have a group that's banner is a rainbow and ya'll chose...Pink...and Baby Blue... Like, I get it, but your average bumbling fool is easily manipulated into giving money away if you jingle jangle some keys in their face. They want something edgey, cool, something they can actually feel cool to say they're apart of, not just proud.
I don't feel cool being an ally, trans, asexual to pansexual. I feel proud to be on the right side of history. It's just that you fuckers keep shoving teddy bears and girly aesthetics into the frame blocking my epic Bionicles figure with fire behind it. Ya can't even see it because the pink is so overpowering it's blooming my god damned screen.
Trans messaging is VERY dominated by femininity. That's...fine, but the fact it's Pre-occupied with it ans themself shows it's still developing, and the best change is it's messaging to not be hyper-feminist.
Instead of dropping high-detail verbiage to find just the right place you fit into some series of labels nobody heard of til recently especially you, how about, you know, you remember the average slob doesn't remember what year 9/11 took place, much less what caused it. That's just in ya'lls bible on here like literally anything trans or feminist.
It's an echobox that's very, very Gay, and Girly. Should people be fascist bigots because of it? No, but you don't make saying you're an ally appealing when it Severely Implies you too are, gay, trans, or queer in some manner.
No """""normal""""" person has the time to learn all your fancy new words. They can hardly figure out Pronouns are just...pro...nouns.... No """""normal"""" person is interested in being lumped with an """other""" that's Chosen Inherent Existence is so god damn gay and girly it questions their masculinity just by being apart of it.
It's stupid as shit obviously. But if you're not willing to understand why your messaging fails for them, don't question why they're confused thay their message fails back.
You're both trying to be on a pedestal of importance claiming equality, but the truth everyone knows is Massive Social Change needs to happen for either side, normal/LGBT vs Nazis/Republicans, to prosper.
Republican messaging is entirely masculine. It's why they have any support right now. Idiots are scared of the unknown, and you threw an advanced biology book at the slackjawed and expected them to know how to read before even getting them remotely grounded in what transgenderism is. They're piss scared of using the wrong pro-nouns and getting fired because A: They believe anything anyone tells them so long as it enables them to be shitty, and B: Ya'll mother fuckers were too precious about the whole god damned thing initially that nobody on their side is willing to take it seriously.
The people you were desperate to get to use your pro-nouns are the kind of people that Everything they cared about was shit on so they have absolutelt no ability to care deeply for something that isn't hustle culture. You were fighting a crowd of people who's entire perspective on having something passionate about themselves was never in their identity but their worth as a man, financially, socially, or physically.
The fact the transgender movement doesn't know shit about the struggles of men is why they're so god damn obnoxious to just about everyone and I mean this when I say it: Ya'll will lose support if you don't wise the fuck up, because everyone else will before you if you refuse and stay conservative in your ideology.
There's nothing more infuriating than hearing honestly pointless situations occur in your daily life that don't even begin to measure up to other's. Trying to pass, I get it, but man ya'll just go out of your way sometimes to confuse or enrage. How the hell is a normie idiot distracted by keys going to tell the difference between male, female, someone trying to pass, a drag queen, or just someone dressing non-comformly?
Sure you can use "they" but recognize you're asking society to train themselves for such a small minority they may only see/acknowledge once in their entire lives. And ya'll shit on men for accidents. Remember when Feminazi's made a rocket scientist cry and apologize on live TV for wearing a fucking shirt? Congrats on that win, why are they allowed in trans discussions again? When they're Vehemently anti-men or at best just pro-women? And their entire perspective is female based?
Seriously what a handicap to trans messaging letting feminazi's color discussions went. Thank fuck they moved on to being Terfs and most of ya'll wised up. Now we just gotta dissect their shitty 2013 asses out.
Really though, you can't just blanket blame trans people for not being PR people. It's not like trans people have secret meetings or whatever, that's the republican party with mega-corps.
But at some point man, when your goal is to dismantle gender identity but the literal only part anyone knows about ya'll is femboys and chix with dix, anti-masculinity, recognize that, maybe, just maybe, the feminist movement got far too involved shoving too many fingers into the culture and messaging, the anti-masculinity shit is only an extended piece of the old decrepit Feminazis that Very Much Existed and Very Much helped Trump get elected by starting a culture war in the most awful approach anyone has seen yet.
They're fine now, surprisingly, they kicked out their crazies, some of them not most, but the trans movement is genuinely too female populated for them to get a good entire message out.
Really ask yourself the last time men or masculinity actually felt involved in any trans discussions that wasn't Seering with Hate or underlined with disdain. The times of positivity hide behind the veneer of the general opinion by claiming "this is different" but not acknowledging that there's issues To masculinity via culture, that of which you could focus on.
Then scroll down tumblr and try to find literally any posts you can share with a normie friend or family member.
More than likely, you went to your mom, sister, or someone female. If anyone. Males are simply uninvolved in the trans movement, and FtMs are basically handicapped from the start not being essentially groomed into the lifestyle from birth. If you were hugged as a child and told you matter, well sorry, sorry for everyone involved but, you don't have that inherent loner hanging on the edge of your peer's judgements masculinity. Ya just got bravado, not experience.
Being a man is to be judged consistently for not being masculine. Being a man is to be abused and no one care. To be a man is to let yourself get angry and now that's all you ever are.
That happens to females too. But nobody is abandoning you. You're, in the general slob's eyes: "weak and need protected" also "sometimes crazy so give them the slide"
Men get thrown out. Just a fact. That. Is unfortunately true masculinity. Tools. To be broken, unloved, emotional stunted, but most of all, Utterly Terrified but Forced To Push On at gun point.
I am all for dysmantling that, but in order to do so, ya'll motherfuckers gotta start kicking some of the feminazi remains of 2013 out of your community.
And recognize that masculinity is to be taught that empathy and sympathy aren't 'weaknesses' but "exploitable points" that you are groomed into being exactly One Thing at All Times even at Funerals.
Is it all around like that? No, is it some or most? Yes. For every male kid, they are taught to Fuck Off, Shut the Fuck Up, Work, and Take the Blame.
And a FtM simply cannot reach that. They shouldn't either. But to claim male representation without the trauma, I appreciate it. But others will resent the fuck out of it. Like a little brother annoying his way into a dangerous activity, these broken pieces of shit will go out of their way to "initiate" you, and trust me when I say, it's not an initiation but planned murder. Murder of your character, your soul, personality and wit, or your actual physical body.
All that to say, you're a man. But honest to god, how dare you have it incredibly so easy that it was a choice to accept that's who you are. Good for you though truly, wouldn't wish it upon you. Just don't pretend from your judgement that your taught opinion is accurate to the groomed perspective.
The Entirety of the movement as is hinges on the destruction of masculinity in messaging. I'm all for it, but ya'll make it anti-male and too cute for any traumatised dude to listen to. It genuinely sounds whiney. If not, it sounds disingenuous, and not from a place of experience of a born man's own.
What men see from women is them being angry, and still having respect, not fear, not vitriol. They keep friends, they keep their job, and all they needed was an excuse. That don't happen for men. It can, but realistically speaking, the average person is going to shoot the dude without hesitation before any female or FtM regardless of Biological or Neurological knowledge.
Simply put, Men are made to deal with shit and die for nothing. We are told we have no value. And the general trans movement sure loves going out of it's way to shit on the Very Seldom Few things men are allowed to enjoy.
Absolutey, shoe on the other foot, this same conversation in reverse would happen.
The difference is Ya'll are self aware and willing where as men are broken down to apathetic acceptance. Show them you aren't just out for yourself and your girly friends, and start being cool, approachable.
Because their only friends are also, groomed, and traumatized. Their only support networks are echboxes of hustle culture.
Ignore the republicans, ignore the right wingery. Focus on the fact there's no masculine support network. Keep being gay and girly. Just acknowledge that shouldn't be the extent of the trans movement.
Kindness and nice thoughts will only go so far to a war veteran. And obviously men aren't all inherently that, but most are certainly hardened and traumatized with 0 healthcare from the government.
Point is stop making everything so fucking pink and girly and gay if you want anyone to believe you're not just a stupid fanbase making cutesy in-jokes for your online echobox of larpers. You're not. Stop fucking presenting yourselves as weak and pathetic and people will give a shit.

You said that you found the writing coming from that fandom circlejerk to be terrible. Would you mind sharing what you disliked/found terrible about it?
From what I remember, and it's been a few years, but the big thing to me, and my biggest complaint was that all of what I read came across as very "We're not like those OTHER fanfic writers", a sentiment which I will openly say I also felt was expressed by the writers themselves. It felt like that was more the focus than actually trying to be good in its own right, and it's an attitude that I absolutely hate in fandom writing, especially since there was a period where I was like that and looking back, I realized that trying to make my stuff "not like the other kids" just made it come across as boring.
That's the only big complaint I remember because again, been a few years (almost 4 years, FUCK dude) since I read em, so I'd have to dig back into them to get more specific, which to be frank I'm in no rush to do, especialyl when I've got a bunch of my own writing shit to work on (Pro tip: don't try to start writing a massive campaign before a class starts and you get a new job. It's a VERY BAD IDEA. Also help bitch my Toyhouse isn't even close to done)

Got any hot takes about writing/writers?
Community?!
Sure, let's start off with hot takes about writers. There are some that adamantly refuse to engage with the community at all, and I just find that pretty funny. It makes me curious, what's the point of writing? Is it just for readers to jerk off to the sexy words you've put up? I guess that's sufficient for some people. But it just seems kinda empty. Or maybe they've got it all figured out. Write some stories, peace out. Sounds like a great time. I'm sure they're just busy, but damn.
Morality?!
"Oh obviously this crosses the line, but all this other stuff I've written is fine."
Yeah. I say this one trillion times. This is even in my rules section. Whatever. Writers care too much about the morality of literally anything at all when it comes to writing smut about real people who did not consent to the use of their image in this manner and who could and probably would shut down the community immediately upon discovery. Even if it's not illegal per se, you can maybe understand why a subject of these stories might not like it.
Clearly, this isn't to say stop writing. (Your bias isn't reading these.) It's more about the high horse discourse that happens more often than I see in other NSFW communities, the baseball unspoken rules. BarelyLegal is my most on the nose discussion about this point. Be a fucking disgusting weirdo freak. Accept who you are.
Pity?! (Tangents?! (Nested Parentheses?!))
Also, this doesn't show up as much on Tumblr, but damn I hate the self-pity circlejerk train of "woe is me, I can't write". I don't think this is really even a hot take. It's just such a worthless, unproductive spiral of meaningless non-discussion that I have to mention it. Of course, as I've said many times before, self-awareness has zero correlation with initiative. (That's why, as a massive hypocrite, I'm great at it myself. I have like 50 requests and I've started most of them, written about 10% for most of them, finished about 0%. I promise, I will try to get to your requests. Maybe I'll have a Kinktoberian flash of inspiration again. (Even though I know that's not how it works, and in fact, I know exactly how I did it: self-enforced stress and consistency. (Damn, now I'm really off on a tangent now, huh. (You can tell by the nested parentheses. (Nested Parentheses?!))))

remember how bingus is the most iconic taz grad npc and he isn’t real
YEAH LMAO. To anyone wondering, someone on a TAZ subreddit who was keeping a tally of the (fucking massive) list of NPCs jokingly threw in a fake one: Bingus, a half-vampire half-celestial hairless catfolk who was “TAZ Grad’s best NPC.” The circlejerk sub for TAZ (better than the main one at this point imo) immediately latched onto it, making a TON of fanart and content for our beloved Bingus. Bingus now likely has the most fanart of any TAZ Grad NPC, and he isn’t even a real NPC.

been reading some dragon maid fic recently and it made me ... not exactly realize but at least further appreciate why I like rational fic (especially with transhumanism vibes) so much, b/c like 90% of it just accepts that Kobayashi is gonna die long before Tohru and Kanna and basically the whole rest of the main cast and takes it in a weird h/c depression-but-what-can-you-do christianity circlejerk direction
instead of just like
this is a world of infinite slice of life every day fun! not only that, totally OP wish fulfillment magic exists as well! don't just fucking accept "oh no, woe is us humans" weak ass justifications for death! make up some, I dunno, freely given dragon blood potion bullshit that'll enable a further 8000 years of funny and cute and heartwarming SoL moments!
Tohru has literally fought and killed gods and Cool-kyou Shinsha makes no effort to hide mouth-piecing Kobayashi as a massive (and hopefully militant) atheist who's later on stared down the emperor of demise. these characters are not gonna go to church and pray for a good afterlife for one another.
(so far only one ficlet did bring up it's power and life imbuing properties as a reason of why Tohru is trying to make Kobayashi eat her tail. shout out to that one! that one gets it.)

So annoying if you get made out for Rhea or Dimitri stan because you defend them, while the only reason they are defended is because Edelstans use them in their arguments in the first place.
Lmao I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people calling me a Rhea simp at this point.
Seriously I am not exaggerating how little of a shit I actually gave about Rhea as a character prior to all the Edelstans circlejerking over what a horrible person she is. I mean it’s literally the exact opposite of what happened with Edelgard to me.
I was neutral on Edelgard until the stans kept insisting that Edelgard was some fantastic character that never did anything wrong. So I started looking into her more and found that I liked her less and less the more information I dug up.
I was neutral on Rhea until the stans kept insisting that she was the root of all the world’s evils and responsible for every bad thing ever. So I started looking into her more and found that I liked her more and more the more information I dug up.
Also oh my god the “if you defend Rhea but hate Edelgard you’re a hypocrite!” people are so utterly lacking in nuance they’re not even worth engaging with. Yes, Rhea did bad shit. The issue is that 95% of the time when people are shitting on Rhea they’re making up bad shit to bitch about instead of discussing the bad shit she actually did.
Wanna have a conversation about Rhea suppressing certain technologies or making homunculi? Great I’m on board. Wanna have a discussion about how Rhea experimented on human children and killed Sitri? Well no, I’m obviously going to defend Rhea because that didn’t fucking happen.
And honestly it’s the same shit with Dimitri. Half the things people bring up about him are shit that just straight up didn’t happen, or something that did happen with a massive splash of ableism on top (i.e. “killing Dimitri isn’t murder it’s community service because he’s crazy” and yes I have seen that fucking take) and of course people are going to get defensive when you’re gleefully discussing how you would put down mentally ill people like a rabid animals.

i hate that style of post where someone's like "hot dogs suck ass" and then a load of people angrily reblog it and you get some dickhead like"hi! hot dog professor here" who writes a whole essay on your moral imperative to eat hot dogs and it just descends into a massive fucking circlejerk

sansa stans really are the epitome of “I have done nothing wrong ever in my life” except there’s no one on the other side to say “I know this and I love you” cause literally every single other asoiaf/got fandom recognizes their batshit insanity and rabid response to tear down anyone who represents even a remote *threat* to sansa’s position as Most Good, Most Special character in the series
oh they just tell each other that they’re amazing and soft and have done nothing wrong ever, it’s one massive circlejerk of dumbasses.
I just....I still can’t believe they still defend themselves after some of those comments, it’s beyond fucked up and gross.
