Writing out some thoughts about my upcoming master project or art in general helps, so I’m babbling a bit under the cut! It’s really more an outlet of some thoughts before the upcoming first feedback session for my final uni project...
Since reading Trigun all I want to do really for my Master thesis project is create somethin with an postapoyalyptic wasteland setting. Or so. I need to come up with 2 ideas until tomorror, or at least have some sketches to show... Though I get it’s important not too fall into stereotypes too easily and try to find a unique style, being constantly told Manga or everything that’s being too cliché comic is not something they are very happy about at my place of study, is still something that’s keeping me down in a way? Kinda? It’s making me actually a bit angry and sad, seeing some pretty neat animated short movies in anime style and knowing if I wanted to try a concept like this the first resonse would probably be pretty sceptical. Though I guess it depends more so on the teacher, I don’t want to throw a bad light on my school in general. Maybe I’m being a bit too pessimistic about that, you know, without really having tried it. The thing is, I just want to create neat designs and art for a project that I like, but I don’t neccessarily want to come up with my own ideas. That’s why I draw so much fanart, I love to indulge in others’ ideas and characters that are interesting, but I don’t have some kind of educatonal purpose or agenda I want to tell myself, because there are enough guys out there who do that pretty well. I just hope I’m strong willed enough to stay to my ideas, and not be talked into a direction that I don’t want to pursue professionally - at least not mainly. I like illustration and book illustration a lot, don’t get me wrong, but I love drawing characters, emotions and scenes just so much more. Even animation which I started a bit more than 2 years ago is to me so much more fascinating, because you know, you can make these characters move! And bring them to life! Phew. I’ll need to prepare a pdf for tomorrow, so I should get back to working out 2 ideas, and put them into some kind of understandable shape. If you really read so far, I’m raising my cup of hot chocolate in respect

Researches and thoughts on VR as learning tools for children
There are many educational virtual reality platforms for children, for instance Miamiopia which is part of a learning network where pupils can learn subjects such as history and geography through the use of games. As well as apps such as VR Jurassic Land through which pupils can explore the paleontology, or the View-Master Space where children can navigate the space and learn astronomy in a 3D virtual reality.
Researches show that more and more children use media technologies early. 80% of  the education apps target children, with 72% specifically preschool aged children. Therefore the market target can be easily directed to pupils and their educaton.
The playful aspect of virtual reality results to be particularly appealing for children, who are more used to new technologies comparing to adults, and therefore more keen to learn through tools they feel more familiar with.
The interactive nature of educational games implies that children become more engaged in the learning process and therefore the educational purpose is strengthened by such media.
The visual aspect of VR adds educational value as children are able to broaden their learning experience
VR has been used in education for several subjects. Recent studies carried in the Teasley Middle School in Georgia has proved that VR increases the chances for students to progress in education particularly in STEM related subjects, for which the graduates demand is continuosly growing.
VR has also been particular effective in conceptual learning where the children can't be exposed to the risk of facing a specific danger. As well as being used for skill building and training for children with hearing impairements and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
There are also several examples of VR applied in museums for educational purpose.
In the case of the Cavalier, an historic tank that in 1998 become a museum in the Dockyard Chatham in England, VR has been used to preserve history in fact a team of filmmakers has figured out how to shoot a WWII battleship in 360 degree video.
Another example of VR applied in museum environment can be found in the Colosseum Lives, thanks to which the traffic to museum attendance has virtually increased and visitors are offered the possibility of travelling to distant times and places.
Our ideas includes all the educational benefits mentioned above which are applied in a museum environment.
However it's unique as it’s specifically addressed to children education and it also differs from general VR experience because the project proposed can fall in a specific category of Immersive Virtual Reality. As Slater defines it “a fundamentally different type of experience, with its own unique conventions and possibilities, a medium in which people respond with their whole bodies, treating what they perceive as real”
In the case of our idea the use of an head set, weapons and gloves will make the learning process interactive and fully immersive as it will offer children a complete room scale IVR experience. The children will be isolated from the real world and will be immerse in a full sensory experience which will allow them to perceive the virtual environment as real while interacting with it.

WES diploma evaluation
Hi everyone, today I will tell you about WES. This post is renewable, since today I just started to grasp information from everywhere and made the first trial to understand what I have to do.
First of all, WES (in case you think is a name) is World Education Services. Its main aim is to assess (evaluate) your educational credentials and compare it to local (i.e. USA’ or Canada’s) ones. It doesnt proceed medical, pharmaceutical diplomas, flying certificates (in case you are a pilot) or legal diplomas (in case you are legal councel or something like this).
My initial situation is a bit tricky.
I have Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the same university, but different occupations. I live in Moscow, but my university is in Saint-Petersburg. And I didn’t change my surname while getting married. The last fact enables me to proceed my documents online.
My husband earned diploma of special secondary educaton (locksmith for rolling stock) and Specialist’s degree from the university in small city somewhere in the rural area of the country. And he has changed his surname due to some reason. The last fact doesn’t allow him to proceed online.
Ok. What we are doing.
First of all we have to make apostil. It is some kind of official proof that we have been graduated from the educational univercities or colleges. The organization that is authorized to make requests and confirm this information, approaches our educational institution by request and send confirmation.
It costs about 40 USD (in rubbles of course) per diploma. 4 documents = 160 USD + delivery expences. A kind of a robbery!
Anyway, I logged into mos.ru and filled in the application form. Partially, technically, because you have to submit scans of all your documents (diplomas, pasport), and my scans are too poor. I am going to make new copies today. Ok, I have done scans and submitted the applications (2 applications, since I have to evaluate both bachelor's and master's diplomas).
My husband has done the scans, too. But as I told above, he can only proceed offlne.
To be continued...
