Kazuki vows to teach Rei how to grocery shop after a particularly disastrous errand that he sent Rei to last time (he sent Rei for veggies and shrimp. Rei brought back the weirdest shit, a bagful of junk food, some super expensive matsusaka beef cut and maybe one single string bean)

They don't bring Miri along because they'd just fall prey to her puppy dog eyes and end up filling the basket with her snacks so they mostly go when she's still at daycare. After some time it became a sort of a supermarket date routine for them as it's the only few hours in a day that they have to themselves. They both secretly enjoy it. Maybe some handholding was involved. Who knows.

!KAZUREI SUPERMARKET DATES ARE REAL AND TRUE!

In all honesty, I can see this happening in canon. Kazuki would love to teach Rei such mundane things, because that's practically the base of their relationship!! Their relationship is built on Kazuki making the normally boring aspects of life more brighter for Rei!! So going to a supermarket to buy groceries, something which is usually considered a chore by other people, being a date for them is so so perfect.

Maybe Kazuki had grabbed Rei's hand to drag him out of the cereal aisle half an hour ago, and he might still be holding Rei's hand while arguing with him about breakfast selections, but that's none of our business.
