"So dad!" Clancy said excitedly. "Now that Willa and I are aged up, are you and mom finally gonna get married?"
Matt shook his head and smiled wryly. "Not this rotation since it's almost over already, but definitely the next!" he assured his son.
"And we're invited, right?" Clancy wondered. "Just making sure we are, 'cause I really wanna go!"
"Well yeah, of course you are, you're gonna be my best man," Matt replied swiftly.
Clancy's eyes went wide. "Really!? You'd let me!?" he asked.
"Yeah! I wouldn't have it any other way," Matt grinned.

As promised, now that we're a few days out from the final submissions deadline, here is a list of all the actors who have been submitted and will be in the bracket so far! If you submitted someone and they aren't on this list, there is a chance I felt they fell into that category of not really having a super strong connection to sci fi/fantasy generally and where the roles noted for them weren't necessarily roles that they're very well known for, or in a couple of cases there were people submitted where the work listed for them was all post 2000. But there were only a very small handful of actors like that; I think almost everyone submitted should be on here.
The final deadline for submissions will still be April 27th. I'll make another post before the polls start with the finalized list of actors for the tournament.

Lionsgate Moving Forward With Henry Cavill & Chad Stahelski ‘Highlander’ Reboot As Action-Fantasy Pic Heads To AFM To Enliven A Strike-Hit Market
By Andreas Wiseman
October 27, 2023 8:17am
EXCLUSIVE: In the world of Highlander reboots, there can still only be one…and it’s a good one at that.
For the first time, Lionsgate will be launching sales at the AFM on their long-gestating fantasy reboot which has Henry Cavill aboard to star as the eponymous Scottish swordsman and John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski set to direct.
We hear this will be a big-budget proposition, north of $100M. Stahelski himself has previously talked about it as akin to John Wick with swords. The team is eyeing a 2024 start.
This will be welcome news for AFM buyers whose pool of pre-sale projects has been diminished by the ongoing strike.
The new movie will be based on the 1986 original, which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as immortal beings, hunting down one another and collecting more power. The time-jumping film — with its “There can be only one” tagline — spawned four sequels and three TV series including the popular USA series starring Adrian Paul. Queen memorably provided the soundtrack for the original movie.
Producing the reboot are Joshua Davis, Fast And The Furious producer Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski (thru his 87Eleven Entertainment production company) and Louise Rosner.
The current draft of the screenplay is by Mike Finch. The late Peter S. Davis, the producer of the original Highlander, initiated the development of the new film. Summit first acquired remake rights to the original in 2008.
Former Superman and The Witcher actor Cavill remains in high demand. Among movies in post are Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle and two Guy Ritchie projects, including WWII pic The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
Stahelski has directed all four John Wick films, which have been a goldmine for Lionsgate, taking more than $1BN. He previously talked about the new Highlander as the first in a trilogy but we’ve not had word whether that’s still the case.
Cavill and Stahelski were attached and reported before the strike.
The arrival of the Highlander reboot is a shot in the arm for the AFM, whose business has been hampered by the SAG-AFTRA strike. This and Kevin Costner’s Horizon movies, which we told you this week would also be on sale, are the two biggest-budget prospects revealed for the market so far. A number of packages haven’t come together or aren’t being officially announced due to strike restrictions or anxiety over optics. Frankly, given the limitations posed by the strike, I’ve been surprised at the number of new or reworked projects that are on sale (many are shooting in Europe). There are still a handful of pre-sales packages for buyers to get their teeth into, even if more action may be done this market on completed and near-completed movies.
I'm all for Henry in a kilt! 😊

Playlists???? 👀👀👀👀
For Youthful Exuberance?
Also, do you have a Clancy playlist??? 👀
Ahhh, I’m so excited you asked, @emilie786! ❤️ Thank you!
Youthful Exuberance (Pikeuna, E), has three playlists for a total of three hours of music. (This fic lived in my bones.) Some highlights:
So This is Love (Cinderella), of course, for Chris and Una’s first kiss: “So this is love, mmm, So this is love, So this is what makes life divine … My heart has wings, mmm, And I can fly, I’ll touch every star in the sky”
San Francisco (Cascada) for Starfleet Academy vibes: “Poppin’ some bottles, champagne, red wine, And we both giddy up on the rooftop, And watch the city lights, Tell me what you’re waitin’ for, (We’re crossing the Golden Gate, Party at the Frisco Bay)” — I had already written the rooftop date when I found this song so I was very 👀👀😍 about that coincidence
Call You Mine (The Chainsmokers) for the cracks — and love — in Chris and Una’s early relationship: “Think about what you believe in now, Am I someone you cannot live without? ‘Cause I know I don’t want live without you, Yeah, Come on let’s turn this all around, Bring it all back to that bar downtown, When you wouldn’t let me walk out on you, Yeah” (again, I found the song after I wrote the part with the bar)
I’ll Follow (ROZES) for more early relationship: “Shoes by the door, And your coat in the closet hallway, You hung your keys, And I knew in that moment you’d stay, You built your bed in my heart and now that’s where you lay, And the sycamore by the river is where our children will play”
When Love Takes Over (David Fuetta featuring Kelly Rowland) for overall vibes: “It’s complicated, It always is, That’s just the way it goes, Feels like I’ve waited so long for this, I wonder if it shows, Head underwater, Now I can’t breathe, It never felt so good, ‘Cause I can feel it coming over me, I wouldn’t stop it if I could, When love takes over, yeah, You know you can’t deny, When love takes over, yeah, ‘Cause something’s here tonight”
Love Somebody (Maroon 5) for Chris worrying about Una when he’s on the Antares and she’s on the Martin Luther King Jr.: “I know we’re only halfway there, But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way … I think about you every single day … I wanna feel like we’re never ever gonna stop”
What Do You Want from Me? (Cascada) for when Una takes her big risk with Chris on the Antares: “Just tell me, what do you want from me? This is love in the first degree … It’s not too late, now we’re standing face to face, And heaven is the only place, will you understand?”
Playground (Cascada) for service together and the, uh, end of the story: “Sirens ringing bright, They’re taking us to another high, And our hearts are driven wild, You and I both read the signs … Your heart is my playground.”
And Clancy! Oh my goodness, I also have three playlists for a total of three hours of music for The Autobiography of Kirsten Clancy (Gen, T). Again, some highlights:
Believe (Cher) for vibes and Clancy’s righteous anger toward Jean-Luc Picard for walking out on Starfleet when Starfleet needed him: “No matter how hard I try, You keep pushing me aside, And I can’t break through, There’s no talking to you.”
I Think We’re Alone Now (Tiffany) for meeting Matthew Clancy: “Running just as fast as we can, Holdin’ on to one another’s hand, Tryin’ to get away into the night, And then you put your arms around me, And we tumble to the ground, and then you say, I think we’re alone now”
Dancing in the Dark (Bruce Springsteen) for fighting in the Dominion War: “You can’t start a fire, You can’t start a fire without a spark, This gun’s for hire, Even if we’re just dancing in the dark”
Rhythm of the Night (DeBarge) for the holodeck parties Clancy took her kids to during the Dominion War: “When it feels like the world is on your shoulders, And all of the madness has got you going crazy, It’s time to get out, step out into the street, Where all of the action is right there at your feet, Well, I know a place where we can dance the whole night away, Underneath electric stars, Just come with me and we can shake your blues right away, You’ll be doing fine once the music starts, oh”
Take Me Home Tonight (Eddie Money) for Matthew Clancy’s pain after the Dominion War: “I get frightened in all this darkness, I get nightmares, I hate to sleep alone, I need some company, a guardian angel, To keep me warm when the cold winds blow”
4 Minutes (Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake) for heroism Clancy doesn’t remember in the Breen prison camp: “Time is waiting, We only got 4 minutes to save the world, No hesitating, We only got four minutes”
Power of Two (Indigo Girls) for old Kirsten and Matthew working at Starfleet Command and going home together at the end of the day: “So we’re okay, we’re fine, Baby, I’m here to stop your cryin’, Chase all the ghosts from your head, I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed, Smarter than the tricks played on your heart, We’ll look at them together, then we’ll take ‘em apart, Adding up the total of a love that’s true, Multiply life by the power of two”
Thank you again for asking, @emilie786! ❤️ I tried to cull the lists so it wasn’t too much. 🙈
Send me a fic and I’ll tell you a song (or highlights from a playlist) from when the story was banging around in my brain.

I am part of a system that writes books, stories, and other such content with my alters. If this makes you uncomfortable, this is not the blog for you! They may include little snippets and commentary in my posts from time to time. For taglists, please tag me at @nightmarishnotifs.
About Us
Office Guidelines (DNI)
I write about quite dark and occasionally NSFW topics, so this is not a space for minors. All minors will be blocked on sight.
If you're in the crowd that hates redemptive villains, cute murderers/monsters, or morally grey characters with a bit of a screw loose, this is definitely not the place for you.
The usual, bigots, racists, sexists, homophobes, transphobes, exclusionists, etc.
This is a writing blog, not a political one, so keep this in mind.
I really do not care for discourse. If you don't like someone's work, just don't support them. If something really bothers you, block it.
I highly value TWs. If you post about triggering topics without TWs you may get blocked. I'm just uncomfortable with it and want to ensure some things get blocked.
If you have an issue with self-diagnosis, I will not be comfortable with you here.

Main WIPS
(WIP tags will always just be the titles, spaces included).
Infernal Serenade
Rating: R | Genre: Horror, Romance, Mystery | POV: 1st person
Progress: 1 and a half/4 (Writing)
In a world made up of the human and supernatural (demonic even), some might find their worshippers are truly the only thing to fear. Following the story of Quentin Callista (Quince) as he investigates the strange occurrences surrounding Bradi Cohen of Chiffon Street, through the course of four books they might find their fates are intertwined in the strangest of ways. This is a tale of lust, of pride and wrath, greed, gluttony, and envy, even sloth! But most importantly, it's a story of finding love in the strangest of places.
FAI
Rating: R | Genre: Horror, Romance | Length: Two
Progress: Half/2 (Hiatus)
A young boy named Matthew is struggling with the recent and mysterious death of his mother. He isn't going to school and is trying to hide himself away, but, worst of all, his mother is constantly going out at odd hours and he feels none of the adults want to listen to him. In his lonely state, he ends up making friends with a FAI, an electronic toy that shows up at his house in the middle of the night, despite the recent and sudden delay in production.
LINE
Rating: R | Genre: Mystery, thriller | Length: Two
Progress: 13/30 Book One (Planning)
The city is full of many types of people. In one corner, there's a young man moving in and looking forward to the normal city life, and, in another, a woman whose life has been turned absolutely upside down. Unbeknownst to him, a childhood friend is plotting behind his back, the other two are left broken and struggling for control, and his neighbor might just be hiding a secret of their own. Upon moving back to the city, Clancy Jasper finds that some things about the city never change, in the worst possible ways.
Murder of a Sacred Deer
Rating: R | Genre: Mystery, horror | Length: One
Progress: ???/1 (Planning)
The Therons, a family in the 1960s, is completely torn apart by the death of the oldest child, Hart. Not only was he killed "on the hunt" but what he was hunting was hardly an animal. Unable to take this sudden realization, their adoptive youngest daughter, Roe, takes her life early. Except, death is not the peaceful release she was hoping for. Finding herself in Hell, Roe does her best to survive, spending several long years following that familiar voice on the radio, struggling with herself as to whether she should confront her brother, or leave the past in the past.
Side WIPS
Caballus Farms (M | Horror, Mystery) Extremely casual ARG experience that may be added more to or discussed as time goes on. I think it'd be fun to add some lore to this puppy (or horse...I guess)
The Ghost and The Sludge Monster (T | Romance) On a high school reunion trip has (now college students) Presley and Laurent realize that the monsters on the top and the bottom of the societal hierarchy might not be that different after all.
Oh...He's a Witch (T | Romance) After being stuck in his home after a traumatic event, Jay finds himself lured outside by his kind though very eccentric neighbors.
Polarized (M | Thriller) A one shot I will hopefully be able to edit soon. A revised version of an old WIP of mine, following a rock/popstar and his obsessed fan.

Since Clancy was up early the following morning, Matt decided to try teaching him how to walk one last time before heading off to work.
Today was the twins' birthday so it was now or never!
"Don't worry, if you can't learn it's totally okay too. No one's good at everything," Matt said encouragingly. "You'll find something you're really good at when you get older... it just probably won't be sports."
Although he was still only halfway to learning how to walk, Clancy still made a bit of progress that morning.
But then the carpool arrived and Matt had to go.
"Alright, see you tonight for your age up! Love you!" Matt kissed his son on the forehead, ruffled his hair and then spun into his ugly brown work suit.
