The band was founded in Chicago by Maurice White in 1969, having grown out of a previous band known as the Salty Peppers. Maurice White and Bill Meyers: "Joe".
This is from the soundtrack to the OAV for Gatchaman. Yes, this is the album with "Let's Fly" on it. But this. This is why I bought it.

I found this version of September from a Bemani game a whole 2 days early. So, I waited for the 21st night of September to roll around the corner, and now we're here!

AG mashups are BACK, baby, and better than ever!
Kono Shin this is a bit egregious! Dance Man gave a shout-out to Boogie Wonderland as a big influence on his work on Love Machine, but that's not nearly as obvious as it is here!
Meanwhile, the Tsunku composition magic is real. "What if Earth Wind and Fire but more chords" is, well, straight fire.
I decided not to switch mash configurations before the chorus, but know that I did explore both combos. Plus the obligatory BOTH AT THE SAME TIME MAXIMALISM!!! for the final chorus.

Earth, Wind & Fire, with chart-topping hits like "September," sold more than ninety million albums worldwide. ⁣
Under the leadership of founder and principal singer Maurice White, the band developed a lush, horn-driven sound. ⁣Their music fused elements of jazz, funk, R&B, and gospel. ⁣⁣
In 2000, they secured their place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.⁣
Commissioned to create a portrait of Earth, Wind & Fire in 1978, photographer Bruce Talamon wanted to represent the band’s members as superheroes. ⁣

Yes, another September 21st post, but I really am a megafan of EW&F. The band just doesn't stop sounding amazing no matter what decade they are in or what roster they have.
Bonus: Maurice White's autobiography is a touching and incredible read. Even if you don't listen to their songs, it's worth a read about an incredible musician and artist.
