winter headcanons
Eddie thinks he can get though winter with his leather jacket and battle vest, always has always will. But when he is at Steve’s one day Steve throws him one of his winter coats demanding he puts it on in his mother hen way. Eddie puts it on, complaining it’s ruining his image but when he realised he can now go outside WITHOUT wanting to die from the cold his life is changed.
Steve ends up getting Eddie mittens, a huge scarf and a hat with ear flaps because he KNOWS Eddie feels the cold. And if it means Eddie goes around with rosy cheeks looking very cute well then everyone is a winner aren’t they?
Eddie teaches max about wrapping plastic bags around your feet to keep your socks dry if you don’t have winter boots. And how to keep the bags hidden. They give each other knowing looks when they see each other in the snow
Dustin doesn’t feel the cold. Ever. He can go around the entirety of winter in his tshirt and every time Steve sees him he slams a hat on his head and wraps him up in one of the scarves he’s knitted
Steve has also knitted Robin and Nancy one of those conjoined mittens that lets them hold hands inside the glove. They love it.
Eddie wants to make sure Steve is looked after too so whenever he stays over Eddie send him off to work with a full thermos of his hot drink of choice
Steve has a favourite pair of thick socks that he’s worn every winter and they are starting to show holes so eddie takes it upon himself to mend them with his sewing kit. He doesn’t tell Steve, just leaves them out for him one morning as Steve is heading out the door and eddie is still in bed. Steve stares at them and the newly embroidered ‘SH’ on each sock and feels warm for the rest of the day

New Journey (S.H.) Chapter 2 Season 4
Pairing: Steve Harrington x henderson!reader
Summary: Back to Hawkins for spring break. Y/n believed it would just be a quiet time to cherish with her loved ones, but one day in and another mess had already began.
Warnings: cursing, mentions of drugs, murder
Notes: And we're continuing with season 4! Very excited to mess with this season's story plot and give an end to their obsession with Steve and Nancy as a romantic couple. But we are not steering away from drama as this chapter gives our couple their "issue" for this season. Hope you are safe out there and please enjoy the chapter! 💕

Chapter 1 << Masterlist ~~
Tumblr media
Feeling your body tangled in Steve’s arms was the perfect way to wake up. Your head was tucked in his neck, his scent filling your nose, making you snuggle more into him. He gave you the perfect warmth you needed for this chill morning as you were only wearing a t-shirt of his, too tired from last night's activities to get up and wear the pjs you had sneaked into his closet from when you first started dating.
You loved it when you woke up earlier than him. Most of the time his nerves got the best of him, so seeing him so relaxed always made your heart swoon. There wasn’t a lot of light coming in from the window in his bedroom, the curtains covering most of the morning sun, but the light that managed to get through fell on his face gently.
As you were watching him your hand traced figures on his naked chest, drawing a line on his collarbones. Your mind brought you back to last night as you recalled his sweet gesture. The room was still covered with all the candles he had lit up and the rose petals were still on the floor. You could still feel his hands roaming over your body and his lips making you shiver with every kiss he gave you. It brought a smile to your face and the only thing you wanted to do was pay him back for all the bruises you know you will find on your neck when you get up. So, without having to move too much, your lips started kissing his neck. Little feathery pecks turned into more heated ones as you started closing more and more to his mouth. You weren’t sure when exactly he had woken up, but by the time your lips landed on his, he was eagerly kissing you back, his two arms settling on the small of your back, pinning you into his body even more.
The groan that came from the back of his throat as you kissed made your body feel like jelly. You were sure you could do just this for hours, but breathing was unfortunately a thing, so you had to pull away just an inch from his mouth to take a deep breath.
“Well, good morning to you too.” his lazy smile made you grin.
You just smiled, giving his lips one more peck before settling back into his embrace. You heard him sigh lovingly from beneath you, his hand rubbing your back up and down. You were close to falling back asleep when his words awakened you.
“I wish I could always wake up next to you.” your heard fluttered. This was it. This was the perfect moment to bring up the plan you had formed in your mind.
“Well, what if you could?”
“What?” he asked not understanding what you were implying.
“Me and mom have been talking and we decided that with the money I have saved up from work, I can rent an apartment… And she suggested you move in with me.” you bit your lip, trying to find the best way to talk about this and make him understand how much you wanted this to happen.
“What?”
“At first, she joked about us moving in together after she noticed how many weekends you drive to see me, saying it’s a waste of time, but… What if it really is? I mean you do spend an absurd amount of time driving and it costs money that could be useful in other ways? You are at some point going to leave Hawkins, I mean you can’t stay in this town forever and your job isn’t an important one, so you could leave whenever you wish. So, I started looking for some apartments in town and near my college and I found the perfect little place to start. Steve, you are going to love it! I know, it’s a bit sudden but, can’t you imagine it? Us living together?” the words were coming out of your mouth without thinking, excitement taking over your body, while a small, stupid grin covered your face. Though, Steve’s expression didn’t match yours.
“You are right. It is a bit sudden.” you watched him as he sat up straight, his feet hitting the floor on the side of the bed. You felt your smile disappear from your face.
“I know- I know that and I understand that it’s a completely new thing and we know nothing about sharing a place in such an intimate way, but… Steve if there is anyone, I want to experience this with for the first time, it’s you.” you came to sit next to him, your hands hooking around his left arm. You waited for his response, but you could tell something was really troubling him.
“Um…”
“Steve?” you asked after a bit.
“Can we uh… talk about this later?” he finally said something, but now you weren’t sure what to say.
“What?” you didn’t know what to think. Did he not like the idea? Was it too soon? He was the one that went out of his way to visit you as many times as he could every month, so you thought it’d be the perfect alternative for always wanting to stay in the same place together. You knew he loved you, so what was the issue?
“I gotta get ready for work and you know how Keith gets when I’m late. I can’t give him another reason not to like me, right?” you watched while he got up and started dressing himself, putting on his uniform in a hurry and his shoes without even sitting down. His nerves were taking control of his body.
“Wait, Steve, what about-“ you wanted to at least hear if he wanted this to happen or not.
“You should probably get dressed too, you know? Go see all the other people you’ve missed. I can’t have you forever, can I?” he said and placed your clothes in front of you. You stared at them as you began feeling like an intruder in his space.
“You don’t like the idea?” you were confused, sad, and a little angry at the same time. You looked up at him after you had put on your bra from beneath his shirt, not feeling comfortable exposing yourself after his distant behavior.
“Y/n… Just- Can we sleep on it for a couple of days?” he finally looked at you, but he still wasn’t able to meet your eyes.
“Sleep on it?” now he was just getting on your nerves. Sure, it is a big deal for you guys, but can’t he sit down and talk to you about it? Like the adults you thought you were?
“Yeah, just let me think about it?” he scratched the back of his head, looking as if he was coming to a life or death type of decision.
“What is there to think about? You either want to or not.” your legs hit the floor and you stood up opposite of him. Your eyes searched his face, but he still wasn’t looking into your own, his hair covering his eyes as he stared at the floor.
“It’s not that easy, there is a lot to think about-” he started talking, but you caught him off.
“It’s fine. I get it.” your hands grabbed your pants and then his shirt was pulled off your body, putting on your own quickly.
You didn’t want to fight with him. You just came back and if you fought now, the rest of your trip would be completely ruined. Walking out right now was the best option for you. Maybe by the time you saw him again, he would have a complete answer for you, whatever that may be. You just needed something more than just a dismissive ‘We’ll see...’.
“Y/n…” he called out. He realized he had upset you. He watched your movements as you dressed. He thought back to the moment you had woken up and tried to understand why he had to go and ruin it like he always did.
“Just think about it all right? I’ll get the place either way, so it doesn’t really matter what you say, I guess…” you finished dressing as you put your left shoe on and handed him his shirt back. He took it hesitantly.
“Y/n.” his hand tried to reach for your own, but you pulled away quickly walking towards his bedroom door.
“I’ll walk home. Go to work, you can’t be late.” your voice was small, but you didn’t dare look sad right now.
“Come on, you can’t walk home. You’ll have a panic attack walking through these woods alone.” he came next to you, keeping his distance, and you hated it how much you wanted to pull him away and into your arms at the same time. You also hated that he was right “Let me drive you there.”
“I’ll wait downstairs.” you opened his door making your way down the stairs and out of the house. It was the moment you stepped out that you were able to take a deep breath. It wasn’t five minutes later that Steve came out of the house as well, a bag on his shoulder and the keys to the car in his hand. He shot you a glance as you both made your way toward the car silently.
The drive was awkward as neither of you said anything, your minds focusing on the conversation before. When you finally arrived at your house you said a quick bye, reaching for the door before his voice stopped your movement once again.
“Will you come see me today?” you turned to look at him and despite your anger and disappointment, you didn’t have it in you to be mean.
“Yeah, I want to see Robin too, so… I’ll see you later.” you offered him a small smile that didn’t reach your eyes and without thinking leaned in and kissed his cheek. You may be mad at him, but you still loved him. He smiled back at you, bidding you a silent goodbye, and watched as you stepped out of the car heading to the house without a second glance. A frustrated sigh left his lips after he made sure you went into the house safe and sound, his hands roaming his hair, something he did when he was stressed or nervous. Right now, it was both as he was thinking of all the things he could have said or could have done differently.
All he was certain for was that he was screwed.
As you entered the house all you wanted to do was lock yourself in your room, away from everything and everyone like a goddamned teenager. But the sight of your mother and Dustin sitting next to each other on the couch looking anxiously at the TV made you stop in your tracks.
“What’s going on?” your eyes fell on the screen. You tried to understand what the lady on Channel 9 was talking about, but your mom’s arms stopped you.
“Thank goodness you’re all right.” she was smothering you with kisses. Her sudden movements made you back slowly, almost tripping on top of Tews, who was just trying to earn your mother’s attention again.
“Of course, I’m all right, I was with Steve. What happened?” you looked at Dustin, who just pointed back at the TV silently.
You finally escaped your mother’s arms as she sat back down on the sofa, taking Tews into her arms. You took a step closer to the TV focusing on the reporter’s words.
“Murder? Who?”
“We don’t know yet. The only thing they have confirmed is that it’s a Hawkins High student.” your brother told you and your eyes widened. Your feet guided you to sit on the unoccupied armchair, not once taking your focus off the TV, silently begging the universe that’s all it was. An unfortunate murder from an awful human being and not something else, dreadful memories already filling your mind.
Tumblr media
Steve was at Family Video doing every possible job Keith could assign him to get his mind off you. This resulted in him rearranging the movies on the shelves while Robin complained about her love life. He tried to keep up with her, but her words were coming so fast out of her mouth that all he could do was just hum and nod his head to assure her he was listening.
“But I’m having this problem where it’s like, I should stop talking. I have said everything I need to say. But then I guess I get nervous, and the words they just- they keep spilling out and it’s like my- my brain is moving faster than my mouth and I want to stop digging, I’m trying to stop, but I can’t.  And I’m doing it right now, aren’t I?” she finally turned to look at him. Steve found it amusing how riled-up Vicki made Robin without even knowing what she was doing to her, but he also sympathized because he knew this narrative all too well.
He was leaning on one of the shelves staring at her waiting for her rant to end when he agreed with her question and watched as she backed away slowly towards the wall behind her, sighing defeatedly.
“I’m hopeless.”
“Eh. We both are.” he followed along, settling next to her, his own mouth letting out a sigh.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Robin staring at him “With Y/n coming yesterday I figured I couldn’t stop you from talking my ear off with all the plans you have arranged, but you’ve barely said a word, lover boy.”
“You’ve barely stopped talking for the past hour. How could I say anything?” he tried to joke, but looking at Robin’s face he knew shit would get real “I did something stupid.”
“Obviously.”
He rolled his eyes at her words but didn’t fight her sarcasm “Last night was incredible with her and I mean incredible, Robin. We spent all day together, went back to mine, I even did the candles surprise I told you about.” he started fidgeting his shirt with his fingers, the nerves surrounding him once more.
“Uh huh… But?”
“But… this morning Y/n said something that threw me off a little.” Steve glanced at Robin, who was just waiting for him to complete his words “She asked me to move in with her. In Michigan.”
His friend’s eyebrows shot upwards “Wow.”
“Yeah. And suddenly everything felt so real, and I panicked, and I just ignored her questions.” his body lifted from the wall, and he started picking up tapes from the cart and putting them on the shelves, just so his hands had something to do.
“You didn’t say anything?” Robin questioned him but didn’t leave the wall.
“No. No, I did say ‘Let’s sleep on it’.” he answered.
Robin almost chuckled at how frustrated he was but kept it together since it wasn’t the time to tease him right now. She had to be the friend he needed.
“Is she mad?”
“I’m not sure, but she’s definitely annoyed with me. I just- I didn’t know what to do. I mean, how do you respond to your girlfriend asking you to move in with her?” Steve asked after his hands messed with his hair.
“Well, for starters, you don’t say ‘Let’s sleep on it’.” she couldn’t help it. It was a natural instinct to make fun of him as often as she could.
Steve groaned at her words, throwing the tapes back on the cartwheel in frustration before placing his hands on his face. Robin let out a chuckle this time, and came next to him, partially to also check if the tapes had any damage on them.
“What’s the problem anyway? I thought you’d be over the moon. The only thing you want to do is be with her 24/7. Moving in with Y/n would be your best solution.” she said.
“I-” Robin could see the wheels turning inside his head. She waited to hear his answer, but it seemed that he wasn’t ready just yet “Can we just talk about something else? Please?”
“Okay, lover boy. Ooh!” she patted his shoulders to bring some life back into the store before she ran to pick up a movie from across the room “I think I found our morning movie” Robin picked it up from the shelf and turned to show her friend “Doctor Zhivago.”
“Ugh, you know I don’t do double VHS.” Steve argued, shaking his hands at her suggestion.
“But it’s about doomed love.”
“Oh, well, that’s relatable.” he joked, bringing the cartwheel back behind the counter.
“Precisely.” Robin agreed and followed him “Also, Julie Christie is b-b-bonkers hot in this. Like, seriously, the most beautiful creature I have ever seen in my life.” she opened the small TV they had at the store, ready to put on the movie, but the newscast caught both of their attention.
“Holy shit.” was all that Steve said as he listened to the reporter describing the cold cause that had just happened last night.
Tumblr media
You were still sitting with your mom and Dustin in the living room, not making a sound as you waited for any further information about the case, when suddenly someone was knocking on your door.
You flinched at the noise but relaxed as you saw the person standing behind it when Dustin opened the door. Max glanced at Dustin at first before her eyes fell on you, the surprise only staying for a mere second as she became anxious again. It was all you needed to understand that this was a matter you had to talk about privately.
“Uh, Mom, me and Max are going to my room to talk.”
“Sure, baby. Hello, Max.” your mom tried to say as calmly as she could, Tews purring in her arms.
You watched the two of them make their way toward Dustin’s bedroom, but before you could ask if you should follow, Max grabbed your arm and pulled you along with them. Your mother was too focused on the television to question why you were going with them.
When you entered the room for a second you just looked at each other, not knowing what was happening. Max was the one who broke the silence, her eyes falling on you.
“I didn’t know you were back.”
“Just arrived yesterday. I thought I’d see you at the match, but…” you were pretty sure what the reason behind her absence was, still, you didn’t want to talk about it with Dustin here.
“Wasn’t feeling like it.” she shrugged, and you sent her a small smile. She had told you she and Lucas broke it off one night when she called you crying. When you left for Michigan, you told her that she could call you whenever for whatever reason. Not having Eleven here or the guys to discuss this made her even more upset. You were her only option, and you were ready to hear and discuss everything she needed.
“Max… What are you doing here? Is everything okay?” Dustin interrupted your train of thought, bringing you back to the matter at hand.
“I’m guessing you’ve heard what’s happened?” Max stood next to the bed looking at both of you. You simply nodded your heads, feeling her need to say more “It happened at the Forest Hills trailer park, right opposite our trailer.”
“What?” your body was leaning on Dustin’s desk, worry taking over your expression as you started at your younger friend. It had slipped your mind that’s where she was staying now.
“Did you see something?” Dustin asked curiously.
“I saw who it was…” she answered carefully “When they brought out the body, I took a glance at the outfit. It was Chrissy Cunningham.” you turned to look at Dustin as the name didn’t ring any bells to you. You knew it was someone from Hawkins High and judging from Dustin’s face, he immediately knew who Max was talking about.
“Chrissy Cunningham? You’re sure it was Chrissy?” he was pacing back and forth inside the small room, your eyes following him.
“Yes, in her cheerleader outfit. It was the same thing she was wearing when I saw her with Eddie.” Max explained and Eddie’s name caught your attention.
“The trailer was Eddie’s?”
“His uncle’s, but yeah. They went in together last night.” Max told you.
“Did you tell all this to the cops?” your brother asked.
“No. No, but I… I can’t be the only one who saw them together. I mean they stood out.” you couldn’t help but agree. You didn’t know Chrissy, but you did know that a cheerleader and a drug dealer weren’t a match made in heaven.
“Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?” Dustin described your thoughts out loud.
“Exactly. You know, his name’s not in the news yet or anything, but I guarantee you Eddie is suspect number one now.” your brother stopped in his tracks after hearing Max’s words.
“That’s crazy. Eddie didn’t do this. No way.”
“Dustin…” you warned him.
“No way.” he pointed his finger at you, repeating his words.
“Well, we can’t rule it out.” Max told him.
“Yes, we can.” he protested.
“Dustin!” Max said frustrated.
“You don’t know him like I do. Okay?” his voice was certain, but as he turned to take a look at you too, you saw sadness in his eyes “When we got to high school, Lucas made all his sports friends. Mike and me? I mean, no one was nice to us. No one except Eddie.”
This made you silent. You felt for your brother, as this once was your world too.
“Okay. Well, I mean, they said the same shit about Ted Bundy. Yeah, he’s a super nice guy, but then he’s murdering women on the weekend.” you shook your head at Max’s example, knowing it would get a rise out of Dustin.
“So, you’re saying Eddie is like Ted Bundy?” he asked defensively
“I think what she is saying is we can’t come to a conclusion without facts, Dustin. We don’t know what actually happened, so we can’t presume anything.” you explained calmly, trying to be the voice of reason behind this crazy situation. Why did you always have to be involved in every shitshow this town had to offer?
“All we know is, whatever happened, it still doesn’t look good for Eddie.” Max said and all Dustin could do was sigh and sit down on his bed, knowing that she was right.
“Why haven’t you told the cops this?” he simply asked her.
“I- I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?” Dustin asked.
“Max?” something troubled her, it was obvious as she sighed and sat next to Dustin, trying to collect her thoughts.
“After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go in the trailer… something else happened. I was at my trailer watching TV when it started playing static. I got up to fix it and suddenly all the lights started flickering. Then I heard a scream coming from Eddie’s trailer before I saw him opening the door and running off to the car, driving away quickly.” your eyes fell on the floor after you heard her talk about the lights, panic rising in you. You kept calm, though, listening to the rest of her story, see if you could make sense of any of it “Nothing that weird or anything. I mean… Eddie always drives like a maniac and the power goes off at my place all the time. It’s a piece of shit. But… This morning, I started to think back, and… I don’t know. The look on his face. He was scared. Really scared. Maybe he was scared because, you know, he- he just killed someone, or…” she couldn’t say it, didn’t want to accept this possibility “Maybe, um… Maybe, because… I don’t- I don’t know, maybe...”
“Something else killed her.” Dustin completed her thoughts though, his own fear awakening.
“But that’s impossible. Right?” she glanced at you. You looked her in the eyes for a moment, considering everything, before biting your lip and nodding.
“Theoretically, yeah… It should be.”
“There’s only one person who knows exactly what actually happened.” Dustin said and you and Max answered at the same time.
“Eddie.”
Quickly Dustin started grabbing everything he could find useful and stuffed them inside his back bag. Meanwhile, he explained to you the plan that was already forming in his head, telling you that your main goal was to find where Eddie was now.
“But we need phones for that, and we don’t have enough here.”
“Plus, Mom would kill you with the electric bill.”
“That too.” he pointed his finger at you, agreeing “So, we need a place where we could get away with multiple calls and also get access to Eddie’s friends’ numbers.”
“Family Video.” Max realized and Dustin nodded at her, putting on his bag.
“Yep.” he glanced at you and joked when he saw your distant eyes “I don’t know why you’re looking so displeased, you get to see your boyfriend.” Dustin thought you were distant because of the news you just found out, not knowing the truth behind your anxiousness was the thought of seeing Steve.
“Yeah… Let’s go.” you opened his door and let them through and followed quickly behind them. Whether you were ready to see Steve or not it didn’t matter right now, because you had to know what happened with Eddie first and foremost.
“Have you talked to anyone else?” Dustin asked as he guided you to the front door.
“No. I can’t find Lucas or Nancy, and Mike’s in-” Max’s words were cut by Dustin’s swearing.
“California. Shit, shit, shit.”
You arrived at the living room, and you grabbed the jean jacket you had discarded yesterday when you arrived. Your actions were noticed by your mother, who had a confused look on her face.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m taking them out for breakfast to let go some steam.” you were able to come up with lies easily over the past few years, not wanting to include your mother in everything that’s been happening “They need some fresh air after everything, don’t you think, Mom?” you sent her a sweet smile.
“I guess…”
“I’m taking my car.” you grabbed the keys after you managed to find them and jogged towards your car.
“I don’t think it’s very safe out.” you heard her yell out and then listened to Dustin ‘reassuring’ her.
“Good point. We’ll be extra careful. Thanks, Mom. Love you. Bye.”
After the door was closed it only took a few seconds for the kids to get into the car, Max on the back and Dustin sliding in the passenger’s door. You put the keys in and started the car, making your way toward Family Video.
Tumblr media
Getting to the store was easy, but explaining everything to Steve and Robin wasn’t. Also, Dustin definitely wasn’t making it easy as he simply threw himself over the counter, making a mess in the process, before sitting in front of the computer, already searching for the names you needed.
You and Max shook your heads at his actions while making your way behind the counter by simply walking there. You stood behind your brother listening to Steve and Robin complain about the unnecessary mess he had created.
“Dude! What are you doing, man?” Steve asked while he and Robin started picking up the tapes that had fallen from the counter.
“Setting up base of operations here.” he said enigmatically, and you rolled your eyes at his behavior.
“Base of operations?” Robin repeated confused.
“Stop, get off of that.” Steve tried to get Dustin away from the computer, but your brother just ignored him going on with his search.
“No, I need it.” Dustin argued back, while you were trying to keep your nerves together when Steve stood next to you as he stared at Dustin.
“Need it for what?”
“Looking up Eddie’s friends’ phone numbers.”
“Oh, Eddie, your new best friend you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game.” Steve whining made you scrunch your eyebrows as you turned to stare at his childish behavior.
“Eddie, yes! I never said that.” Dustin defended himself.
“Seriously, you guys, maybe on a Monday you can play around here like toddlers, but it’s Saturday. It’s our busiest day.” Robin told you as she was picking up the fallen tapes.
“All right, look Robin, I totally empathize, but this cannot wait until Monday.” Dustin said as he continued searching through the computer.
“Oh my God.” Steve’s annoyance became even more prominent.
“What? Cause calling all of Eddie’s friends is an emergency?”
“Kind of.” you answered Robin.
“Do I have your permission to strangle him?” your boyfriend asked you as he stood next to Robin, her eyes lighting up at the idea.
“Oh, we could take turns.” her words made you roll your eyes before pointing at both of them.
“No. And no.”
“Can you just fill them in while we gather the numbers?” Dustin asked you without even turning his head away from the screen.
“Fill us on what?” your boyfriend asked you and after a moment you leaned in closer to them and started talking.
So, after explaining everything you knew so far to the other two, the calls began. Having Dustin, Max, and Robin on the phones was enough to give you a headache with multiple conversations happening before you. Also, the noise coming from the customers filling the store wasn’t helping either.
You were seated on top of the counter, a pen and a notebook in your hands. Your job, for now, was to inform them what the next number was to call and track down every important detail that you could find about Eddie. But so far, the phone numbers were just lessening, and no information was written down about his whereabouts.
“Any progress yet?” you looked over your shoulder to see Steve leaning on top of the counter, trying to take a peek at the notebook.
“Nope. You sure you won’t get in trouble with all these phone calls? Won’t Keith go all ballistic on you?” your concern was genuine, but you tried to play it off as a joke to also ease up the tension between the two of you. But Steve wasn’t really feeling like joking, so the words left his mouth before thinking them over.
“Well, the least he could do is fire me, and as you said my job isn’t important.”
“You know I didn’t mean it like that.”
“No, yeah, I know what you meant.” his tone seemed sarcastic, which aggravated you.
“Do you seriously want to fight right now?”
“Hey, guys, I might have a lead.” luckily you were interrupted by Max calling all of you to hear her.
“Seriously?” you brother asked.
“Yeah. Apparently, Eddie gets drugs from some guy named Reefer Rick and sometimes Eddie crashes there.” the redhead explained to you.
“That sounds promising. Where does this Reefer guy live?”
“See, that’s the thing. No one knows. He’s more of a… a legend than someone that people actually know.” Max’s answer to Robin’s question made you ask another one.
“Well, what about a last name?”
“I don’t know that either.” she quickly told you.
“Bet the cops know the last name.” Steve voice said from beside you, making your head turn to him with your brows scrunched.
“What?” Max voiced all your questions.
“Cope. I mean, listen, if this Reefer Rick is actually a drug dealer, I guarantee you he’s been busted at some point. Means he’s in the system.”
“The cops? Really, Steve? That’s your suggestion?” your brother had an angry look on his face as he got up from the chair he hadn’t left for at least half an hour.
“I mean, I just think at this point they should be filled in on what we know, what’s going on.” your boyfriend tried to reason with him.
“You think Eddie’s guilty, don’t you?” Dustin for the second time today got defensive towards his new friend, making you think. You trusted your brother’s judgment more than anyone else’s, including Steve’s, so if your brother likes him that much, Eddie can’t be the person you judged him to be.
“Woah, I believe in innocence until proven guilty, all that constitutional shit. I just, you know, I just don’t think that we can rule it out.”
“That’s precisely what we’re trying to do here, Steve.” Max told him and Dustin pointed at her, agreeing with her words before continuing.
“And maybe we’d have a little bit more luck if you spent less time looking at my sister like a sad puppy and more time trying to find Eddie. Seriously, what’s happened with you two?”
“Nothing!” you both said louder than you had expected.
“I wasn’t even looking at Y/n, I was helping customers. As we should be actually doing rather than searching for a potential murderer?” Dustin pointed his finger at Steve, ready to tell him a piece of his mind before Steve beat him to it “I said potential! Look, dude, we have a big selection here and it can be overwhelming for customers, I have to help. ”
“Yeah, it can be.” your eyes fell on Robin as she was now the one sitting on the chair, typing away on the computer. You all quickly rushed behind her to see what she was looking for.
“What are you doing?” Max asked her.
“Maybe we don’t need a last name.” just as she made her last click, Steve settled beside you. You all stared at the screen intensely “12 Ricks already have accounts here.”
“That’s a lot of Ricks.” you said but Robin was quick to follow.
“So, let’s narrow it down.”
So, after finding a potential candidate for Mr. Reefer Rick, you gathered all your stuff, waited for Steve and Robin to help the remaining customers, and closed the shop for the day before hoping into your cars, Robin with you and the kids with Steve and rode to the address Robin found under Rick Lipton’s name.

Girl from the Band 1 (Yandere!Jason Carver x Band Geek!Reader)
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: dark, yandere, non-consensual intimacy (next chapter), maybe death (haven't decided yet), violence
This was random but honestly I think Mason Dye is a very handsome man so I really wanted to make a Jason Fanfic
Alternate AU but still 80's, No upside down fantasy stuff.
(Y/N) held her trumpet at attention while during the anthem which was sung by a previous student that has since graduated. Y/n rolled her eyes; she remembered Tammy Thompson from a science class long ago.
"This girl has no talent, why are they letting her perform?" y/n said under her breath but a laugh to her left caught her attention.
Robin Buckley shook her head with a smile on her face. For some reason, this made y/n feel warm. She was happy that she had made someone smile, even though she barely knew Robin and Robin's group of odd-ball friends outside of band.
How weird that Robin hung out with Steve Harrington; a man that graduated last year but still hang out with high school kids. Y/n shook her head, feeling sour at her own bitchy thoughts. People are allowed to have friends and just because she didn't have any, didn't mean she could judge everyone else for it.
When the game ended, all of the Hawkins Students fled to the courtroom to celebrate with the Basketball team on their win. Specifically, everyone cheered for Lucas Sinclair who'd made the winning shot and even though Y/n wasn't much of a participator; she found herself cheering along with her classmates.
It was until an object bounced infront of her, pulling y/n out of her own daze. A basketball had flown its way to her and one of the players rushed to her to collect it.
Jason Carver was a handsome guy. A classically handsome highschool athlete you'd see in any John Hughes movie. Y/n felt her cheeks warm at the thought of him coming towards her, looking her in the eye. It was an intimate feeling that she wasn't use too. She felt weak not wanting to look him in the eye but felt she lacked the type of beauty he'd want to look at.
"Sorry about that; it's the championship game-ball and we lost it in the celebration." Jason said, grabbing the ball from y/n's feet.
His voice was deep and warm; his damp hair sticking to his moist skin reminded her of a model posing by the sea. He was a dream and she lived in reality.
"It's okay." Y/n said, staring at the ground. She didn't feel like making eye contact.
Jason chuckled while heading back to his team; he'd seen this girl before but had no interest moving forward; his girlfriend was the queen of Hawkins High anyway. Chrissy Cunningham. For some reason, she was nowhere to be seen since the ending of the game.
The following week, Y/n had noticed Jason's demeanor change. Once a confident, prideful man to callous, irritated ass. You'd think he'd be at his best since the big win but instead he's acting like he lost completely. In Jason's perspective; he did.
Chrissy Cunningham had been hand in hand with one of Jason's basketball friends down the hallway. Clearly, they were still in the honey moon stage of their affair. It wasn't an adult kind of affair; Chrissy had broken up with Jason the night of the game for someone who'd swept her off her feet in his absence.
Y/n kept her opinions to herself, even during lunch when the loud whispers from all the lunch room increased at either Jasons or Chrissy's appearance. However, even with an increased attitude Jason kept his cool. He had to; his reputation depended on it. Sure, his first real love tore out his heart and stomped on it on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life; but he considered himself the man of the school. He'd be damned if he didn't hold his head up high and looked for a replacement soon.
If Chrissy could move on within seconds, so could he. He felt himself getting heated; looking at the other girls in the school. While they werent Chrissy, he knew he could find someone to love him just as much. There were 2 obstacles;
There was only 1 Chrissy Cunningham.
He'd have to pick someone who respected his position as top-dog but it seemed like most of the girls in school were laughing at him now.
It was Study Hall. Y/n had been planning out an idea. She didn't want to graduate this year without doing something new and had been researching DnD for the past few months. There was a Dnd club called Hellfire ran by an eccentric classmate of hers' Eddie Munson. Yeah he was cute too. But Y/n didn't WANT to think about that; she just wanted to do what she wants and then graduate. Don't cause attention, don't put yourself out there. Those were her rules.
However; it wasn't up to her to not stand out as Jason Carver had remembered her genuine shyness from gameday. It was cute and honest. So many girls in school pretend to be cool or bitchy to seem higher class without realizing that they were just unpleasant rather than interesting.
Looking at her, Jason really believed there was something there and was determined to make her his arm piece for the rest of the year. In the deepest parts of his mind he decided y/n had no choice.

I’ve only gotten into the stranger things fandom in the last 3 months but it’s actually swallowing me whole, and it’s so bittersweet. I haven’t even gone in to actually watch the full show, and there’s a good number of reasons why.
I really wish I had been in this fandom earlier, if not during season 2 and 3, at least during season 4 when it got so big and so popular. I didn’t think much of it then, but now, as I learn about all these characters who I love and am starving in content for, it’s kinda sad seeing that I joined the party super late. Also the fact that I’ll only be in the fandom for the least season, which probably won’t have as big of a following as the last one, and once it’s over everyone will leave. It’s great because there’s so much content to consume and I could look at st things for days, but considering it’s almost 2 years after season 4 and season 5 isn’t set to come out for another 2 years, I’m stuck in this weird spot. I’m hyperfixated on this show, and I’m just now discovering how much I love every detail that goes into this, from the character dynamics to theories to how they write and film it, I fucking love it. And no one else has been talking about it or will talk about it for a good while. I’ve loved looking at the characterization of Steve, and the dynamics of the party/the fruity four, I’ve loved it so much. But I wish I could have experienced this when everyone was talking about it. None of my friends are really into it anymore, and the ones that used to be have understandably fallen out of interest. I know season 5 will be great, and I’m so excited for it, but I can’t help but feel like season 4 was its peak with how big and popular it was, and how just genuinely fucking good everything was about the whole show. I worry that not only will the final season be somewhat underwhelming or stray from the path a bit (with the whole marvelification of st) but that less people will care. Anyways love this show with all my heart, but it makes me so sad thinking about it!

STRANGER THINGS 5
I want to be so clear when I say this, Noah Schnapp, Brett Gelman, Shaun Levy and the Duffer Brothers are absolutely vile people, which is why I will not be watching/posting/writing about ST5 or anything ST again.
The Duffers and Shaun have shown their full support for Biden (g3n0cide Joe) who refused a cease🔥 in Palestine and thanked him for his actions.
Noah thinks Z!onism- an ideology that has nothing to do with Jews & is very similar to Naz!sm- is sexy & that the current geno of over 15,000 Palestinians is justified. Additionally, he's made fun of Palestinians despite having played a character that was both Palestinian and "Israeli". He's talked about Khamas being like is-is despite the irony of both groups being created by Israel. He fully supported Amy Schumer's WILD & antisem posts online.
Brett Gelman and his wife have been posting absolutely vile, Islamophobic rhetoric online & have openly & proudly mocked thousands of 💀 P/stinian civilians. He attended pro-Israeli rallies that called for the continued bombing of Gaza & perpetuated racist rants of all Arabs being "r*pists & t3rr0rists".
None of them have had their jobs affected despite being openly rac!st & xenophobic online/in public. None of them have had to fear for their lives as they sit in their mansions while innocent Arab-americans are targeted/shot by radical, yt, Israeli supporters. They've been living in luxury & comfort while pro-Pals have been facing mounting 💀-threats, are being doxxed and silenced.
And for the other cast members who remain silent & refuse to speak out, either against their cohorts or against geno, WE SEE YOU.

So we got new ST sneak peaks and I have thoughts:
Tumblr media
This looks like where Eleven was taken and it's so funny to me. Mike is like "My girlfriend's over there :D!" and Argyles just like "Bro that is a s h e d", Johnathon looks like the male version of Joyce (just a single mom and his two kids with a stoner bf), and Will looks very concerned.
Tumblr media
They lowkey look like they're in a lineup and I'm scared. Love how Hopper looks just far enough from the group that he could've been photoshopped in and no one would notice. I love Murray's face though he's just like "Bro shut the fuck up no one cares about your cars movie theories", Joyce shares his disgust, but Dmitiri is staring the camera down and Hopper looks like someone finally gave him some morphine after weeks of pain and now he's like "so this is what its supposed to feel like. W o a h"
Tumblr media
Eddie looks so tiny here, like I know it's cause he's bent over but sir you look Erica short. Max in the background is killing me. I wonder if they're looking at Eddie's DMG or notes or something on Vecna. Steve clearly has no idea whats going on but he's trying his best.
Tumblr media
I swear they're in Victor Creel's house because it would be the perfect place to put Eddie because no one would look for him there. That's all my thoughts on this one.
Tumblr media
I love everything about this. Everything. From the way that Robin is giving them that "oh you're totally gay" look, to how Steve can't decide to be concerned or confused, and Eddie's smile. Eddie's mother fucking smile he looks so happy. I'm calling it he's gotta be driving the trailer (if it drives idk) he's driving something and I don't trust him. Someone please stop him.

I think it’d be funny if Vecna is defeated on episode 3 (or whenever the time skip is gonna happen) and the rest of season 5 is like a year or two into the future, and Hawkins has rebuilt itself from the ground up, and Stranger Things enters its Rom-Com, coming-of-age era where everyone’s doing ok, doing their own silly little things, growing up, discovering themselves in a safe and healthy environment, and the rest of the season is about Mike coming to terms with his sexuality, confessing to Will, and we see them as boyfriends (they’d be so cute and sickeningly in love). And let’s throw in some mini-mystery for the fruity quartet (in my vision, Eddie comes back from the dead. I literally don’t care how they bring him back. I’d be happy if he’s there again and Will gets to meet him and Dustin has both his parents again, Max is learning some sick tricks on her wheelchair, Lucas still reads out loud to her even if she knows Braille now, Nancy and Jonathon have a simultaneous come to Jesus moment where they both realize they are bi, and Nancy realizes she loves Robin and Jonathon realizes he loves Argyle, and El gets the space to figure out who she wants to be without being influenced by the men in her life…
Hehe I’m insane

three. the cheerleader
The white kitchen tile was cold beneath your feet where you stood with the fridge door wide open searching for something to drink. Only awake for a couple of minutes, your body was begging for you to put anything in it. Snatching the last Coke from the bottom shelf that Tina probably forgot to get rid of, you crack it open and take the smallest sip, the bubbles stinging your tongue.
Your parents were in the living room with Jeffery and Marshall. Looking in there as you came down the stairs you saw the boys on the floor in front of the TV working on their school projects as your parents watched the news. Tina was up as you came in the door last night, surprising you. She was with Marshall in the kitchen you were standing in now wiping tears from his cheek while he drank a glass of water. A heartwarming scene to anyone other than you, someone who can’t get past the fact that they’re getting the mother you never had.
Crossing an arm across your front, you rest the elbow of the other on it to balance the can of soda by your lips thinking about how even right now she was in the other room giving the boys pointers on their work, possibly crouching down to her knees to help them cut and paste things, and you knew the boys were eating it up.
The awkward air between you two as you walked into the kitchen last night was so thick you could’ve cut it with a knife, or the sharp eyes she was looking at you with. You could think you were keeping things a well hidden secret all you wanted, but she knew the t-shirt you were in didn’t belong to you. She mentioned how you were home later than usual, and you had to remind her that it was Hellfire night. Her eyes took you in up and down, your unruly hair, your baggy clothes, the shoes she didn’t buy for you.
Then she looked to Marshall, placed a hand to his cheek as her expression softened, and told him it was time to try to go to bed, and ushered him up the stairs.
She didn’t ask you how the club was, she didn’t question how you got home. If she had you would’ve told her that Gareth drove you home, and that it was a blast because Gareth is the nicest friend you have. He asks about your day, and he actually listens. Not many friends know how to do that, most listen to talk, and talk about themselves. Maybe you would’ve told her that Eddie left Hellfire to help out a, friend, in need, and that he wasn’t the bad guy everyone cracked him up to be. Much like Gareth, exteriors do not match interiors, the cover cannot be judged.
“Get. Your ass! In here!” Is shouted from the living room, followed by a shrill shout of your name. Nearly letting the soda slip from your fingers, you jump, place it on the counter behind you and rush through the archway to find your parents on the edge of the couch, three feet away from each other, with a twin in each of your mothers arms. She was watching the news anchor on the TV with wild eyes, your father glaring at you with worry.
“What?” You hurry to ask, you haven’t heard them this scared ever in your life, “What!” You shout, darting your head back and forth from the TV to your family. Neil points a finger to the screen, and that’s when you see it.
A shockwave of panic ripped down your spine and into your knees where they gave out and sent you to the floor. Shuffling toward the set as fast as you could, you crank the volume up and whisper a guttural, “No.”
Nausea rose within you as you heard the words and read them on the screen. A Hawkins student was murdered.
And this woman was standing in front of Eddie’s trailer.
Sucking in a deep breath that takes control of your lungs abruptly, you feel your arms start to shake and fingers go numb.
Not Eddie.
From behind you your name is spoken, you can’t tell by who.
Not Eddie.
On the couch someone says that they don’t know who it is yet, but you can’t tell who said it.
Not Eddie.
There’s a soft cry happening behind you, one of your brothers.
Your name is spoken again. Filled with adrenaline, you whip your head around to your family watching you. Your mother and her perfect hair was crouched on the carpet in front of the couch, reaching a hand out toward you. The colors in the room felt like they were vibrating. Growing brighter and brighter until it seemed they may burst like a lightbulb being force fed too much electricity.
Her nails were painted yellow, her favorite color. Painfully ripping your teary eyes from hers, you glance down to her hand and gulp. Unaware of how violently you had started to tremble, you tried to lift your own, but you were completely paralyzed.
“Listen… I’m… For you…” Tina spoke. The room spun around you.
“They didn’t… Not released…” Neil spoke. You looked at him in what felt like slow motion, and it was making you sick. He didn’t seem worried at all, in fact, your panic induced paralysis made him seem smug. He watched the woman on the screen who was still speaking with a raised eyebrow. You swore he wore a hint of a smirk.
“...Cursed…” He muttered something else, every other word being understood as your palms started to sweat. Tina’s palm faced you, waiting for you.
“Ever since that girl Barb died a few years ago, it has been one thing after another…” Another woman on the TV was talking. The pain of your old friend's name resurfacing stabs you further in the heart. The town hasn’t spoken of her in ages.
“Only this happens at the trailer park,” You snap your head to look at your father who was sitting up tall, speaking loud and proud, “And you saw whose place they were looking in? What have we been saying for years, Tina?” More tears spilled from your eyes, and they started in your mothers. She gave her hand a small shake, begging for you to take it. “Someone else in Hawkins is dead, and look where they were searching.”
“Neil!” Tina shouts, turning her head.
“Fuck… you,” You mutter, springing to your feet. Calling after you, your mother stands and rushes to the bottom of the stairs that you just thundered up. Both of your brothers were in tears, your father doing nothing to console them. Instead he shakes his head and leans back on the cushions to finish the story.
Up in your bedroom you slam your door shut, pacing around the floor, raking your fingers through your hair trying to calm your breathing. Throwing open your dresser drawers, nothing was satisfying your eye to change into. The world was still spinning, it was like looking through a microscope. You had to get out of here, you had to make sure it wasn’t him. Not him.
Grabbing your denim jacket you pull it over your shirt and hurry to your window, throwing it open without a care to who hears it. Following through, you acrobat your way to the ground, into the backyard.
Downstairs your mother is still at the bottom of the steps, calling out your name when your father tells her to come sit down.
“She’s not going to come back,” He huffs, “Let her mope, this is Barbara all over again.” Tina sighs, hanging her head.
“We weren’t there for her through Barb,” She says, “Neil, what kind of relationship do we have with our daughter?” She comes back into the living room and scoops both boys under her dainty arms again.
“She doesn’t want one! Hasn’t that been clear?” He shoots her a glare, “You try to protect your children from monsters, and it pushes them right into their open arms. Now look at what's happened. Either that boy is dead, or he’s committed a crime I’m not too surprised about.”
The thud of your feet hitting the living room roof makes everyone jump.
“What in the hell?” Neil mutters, standing to his feet. Marshall clings to Tina with fear, still crying into her shoulder, “She’s really not gonna come back in here.”
“Why?” Tina asks, shifting the boys into each other's arms so she can stand next to her husband. Neil points to the fence he just watched you climb over.
“She just jumped out her window,” He nods, crossing his arms. Gasping, Tina rushes to the front door, yanking it open, and sure enough there you were running in your Converse across the street heading straight toward Eddie’s. She calls your name twice, and the strain in her voice almost makes you turn around, but with the tears staining your cheeks you keep running.
“You were meeting with Chrissy,” You whisper to yourself, sucking in deep breaths as you rushed, “I was supposed to come over,” Your heart sunk further into your stomach that was a rioting mess, “I should’ve… fuck, I should’ve come over.” Guilt starts to fill the empty parts of you now. You could’ve done something to prevent this.
You ran until his house was in view, and the sight was unnerving. Sure, the cops have been called here before, but there’s never been an ambulance out front or this many people. A crowd was surrounding the news trucks, ample words of worry and fear being shouted to the innocent people just trying to do their job and report on the situation. Slowing down beside one of their vehicles on the outside of the commotion, you spot Eddie’s neighbor from across the road. The little freshman with red hair, the one who was friends with the freshman in Hellfire. She was standing on her porch with, you guess, her mother, who wore the same expression as your father.
Twisting your head the other way as you hear the sheriff’s voice speak, you spot Wayne sitting on the picnic table at the end of the street with a cigarette in his hand. He was staring at the ground, and was incredibly still. Eddie wasn’t there.
Elbowing your way through the mess of people who glared down at you, you hurry to his side.
“Uncle Wayne?” You ask quietly, your voice shaking. His tired eyes are the only thing to point to you. He sighs at the recognition of you.
“He’s not here,” He says, and tears well up in your eyes, “Wasn’t here when I came home… Wasn’t here when I… found her.”
“Her?” Your voice cracks. With wide eyes, you take a step toward him. Wayne shakes his head ominously, looking back at the trailer with narrowed eyes.
“I’ve seen a lot of shit, kid. I mean it. A lot. Been through all of it,” He says before dropping his tone, “But, I ain’t never… seen anything like that.”
“Chrissy?” You whisper, and Wayne looks you in the eye, “Ch-Cheerleader?”
“Mhm,” Was his answer, then after a few minutes of silence between the two of you he turned his head, “It wasn’t him,” He says, “Don’t know where he went… but, it wasn’t Eddie.”
About to ask him another question, a reporter from the Hawkins Post cuts you off from a distance, hurrying over to Wayne who gives him a look of disgust.
“Go, get,” Wayne whispers to you, shooing you away with the cigarette in his hand. The reporter's eyes are on you as you turn heel and walk toward the entrance to the park. Glancing toward Eddie and Wayne’s trailer, a chill runs over you when you see them loading a stretcher into the back of the ambulance.
“Hey,” Is said from behind you, to you, catching you off-guard. Stumbling on the rocks, you turn and find Eddie’s neighbor at the end of her yard, looking at you. “Yes, you,” She tilts her head and motions for you to come closer, “I’m Max,” There it was, “You probably don't know me, but I know you. God, that sounds totally creepy,” She shakes her head, “Uh, Eddie’s not here.” Taking a breath, you shove your hands in your pockets and nod excessively.
“Yup,” You say quickly, “People keep telling me that.”
“He drove away last night,” Max’s tone is barely a whisper, but her words are intriguing, “I saw him.”
“You saw…” Stepping closer to her, she jolts her head back at the sudden loss of personal space, “Where? What? What happened?”
“Can we go somewhere else to talk about this? There’s somebody else I need to talk to,” Her eyes scan the premises, skeptical of the other people in the area. You didn’t have a plan to go back home. That was actually the last place you wanted to be right now, what you wanted was to find Eddie. This freshman never gave you a bad feeling, and it was kind of nice that she seemed like she wanted to help.
“Uh, yeah, sure,” You stammer, “I just… I need to find him.” Max gestures to her trailer where her mom had gone inside now.
“Only for a second,” She assures you, “I’m gonna change, then we can go.” Nodding your head, you fold your arms around your body, glancing back to Eddie’s trailer once before following Max inside her home.
“Who’s place is this?” You ask with a hint of anxiety still in your voice. You figured it’d be there for a while. Looking up and around at the beautiful one story home you were standing on the porch of, Max turns over her shoulder to look at you. She thins out her lips as she takes in your jittery being.
“Dustin’s,” She says, calm, surprised that the name makes you jump.
“Henderson? Dustin Henderson?” You ask with persistence, and you’re answered with the opening of the door, the very boy you speak of on the other side of it. A bit of relief comes over you as you look at each other. The two of you were just together last night at Hellfire, maybe Eddie had come here, he loved this kid. However, when he and Max share a moment, his energy shifts.
“And… you two are together… how?” Dustin asks Max after he shuts the door of his bedroom. Max explains the morning to her friend who starts to pace back and forth. Finding a spot on the wall by his closet, you sink to the floor and cuddle your knees into your chest listening to her side of the story.
“Chrissy Cunningham?!” Henderson exclaims, “You’re sure it was Chrissy?”
“Yes,” You and Max both respond.
“In her cheerleader outfit. Same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie,” She continues, and Dustin eyes you where you sat staring at the floor.
“Did you not go with them?” He asks you. Turning your chin to look up at him where he pauses his pace, you lower your eyebrows.
“Gareth took me home,” You tell him, and his face distorts.
“But you’re dating,” He states.
“Yup,” Your tone is flat, Dustin moves on.
“Did you tell all of this to the cops?” He asks Max, turning away from you.
“No,” She says, “But, I can’t be the only one who saw them together. They stood out.”
“I saw them together,” You speak up, “I watched them get in the van together, I watched them drive away last night. I fucking kissed him goodbye!” Dustin and Max both pause and look at you staring at them with a crazed look, one that might’ve resembled Eddie’s.
“How long’ve you guys been together?” Max mumbles quietly.
“Okay, but still!” Dustin shakes his head, “Eddie the freak and Chrissy the cheerleader?” That was twice in three days you’ve heard those words. Eddie the freak. You very well could have told them why Eddie was hanging out with Chrissy, but you decided to keep it to yourself, the poor girl’s life was just taken from her. Eddie told you so many times how it seemed like she was going through something, and that all he wanted to do was help her. There wasn’t any way in the hell that is Hawkins that Eddie had done this.
While the freshman spoke, you let your gaze fall back down to the floor, chiming in with a scoff or a sigh when you heard one of them say something utterly ridiculous, like how Max compared Eddie to Ted Bundy. You were siding with Dustin, the curly headed boy finally giving you a sneak of a smile. Dustin felt bad for you as much as he was worried for his friend, and you knew you only saw him in school, but he looked up to Eddie. He was their leader, their protector, the one who saved them from four years of total doom. You were both connected now.a
When the two sit down on Dustin's bed, you watch with confused brows as Max quietly speaks about what went on before she saw Eddie run out of the trailer. Wincing at the thought of him screaming, you bite down onto your bottom lip.
“The look on his face… He was scared, Dustin,” Max states, giving her friend a worried look. A knowing look. There was something else. “Really scared. Maybe he was scared because, you know, he just killed someone, or… maybe, um… maybe because… I don’t know, um…”
“Something else killed her,” Dustin says, and Max snaps her head to look at him. You were lost until you thought about Barb, and the theories people were coming up with after her death was announced to the public. Kids were making up horror stories, some too gruesome to even imagine would be real. Her death was a tragic accident, there didn’t seem to be a connection between these two events happening… not in the way they both passed.
“But that’s impossible right?” Max asks, laughing through her worry.
“I don’t know… it should be,” Dustin sighs, rocking his head.
“What are you two talking about?” You ask, and they both jump as if they forgot you were there, “Chrissy was murdered.”
“In your boyfriend's trailer,” Max says, and before you can say anything snarky back to her she continues, “And he wasn’t there.”
“There is only one person who knows what actually happened,” Dustin says.
“Eddie,” You and Max say simultaneously.
Barrelling toward the front door of Dustins, you follow right behind the freshman who give a short, quick goodbye to his worried mother after listing the names of their friends they needed to get in touch with. Nancy’s name had been dropped, and to you it made no sense. You never hung around your brother's friends.
Trotting down the stairs off his porch, you come to terms with the fact that you may just have to see Nancy if you’re going to be hanging around these two.
“What are you riding?” Dustin asks as he hops on his bike. Looking down at the pink bike that looked as if it was on its last life, you sigh.
“My old bike,” Max smiles, not mentioning the tiny tantrum you had when she offered it to you because you just cannot seem to escape the color pink.
“When’s the last time you rode a bike?” Dustin laughs, digging at your age.
“You have a lot of balls when Eddie’s not around,” You laugh with him, feeling refreshed with the sudden lightheartedness. Maybe these kids weren’t that bad. “Where are we going?”
“Family Video,” Dustin wiggles his eyebrows sarcastically, and sighs at your confusion, “You’ll see. When’s the last time you talked to Steve?” You choked audibly and laughed.
“Steve the hair Harrington?” You say, and the children are unfazed, “I’ve spoken to him maybe twice in my life. The guy’s a douche.”
“Hey!” Dustin spats, adjusting his hat, “That guy is a hero.” You roll your eyes and nearly snort.
“Sure, okay, Henderson,” You egg on, “The only heroic thing I’ve seen him do is tap a keg.” The kids share a look of disapproval.
“No one knows anything,” Dustin grumbles, pedaling forward on his bike, “Onward, ladies.”
It’s not that you forgot how to ride a bike. You forgot how demanding it was. Dustin and Max seemed like they could do this for hours, and they probably did. When you were in middle school you enjoyed this sometimes, but not all the time. Many feet behind the kids, you were sweating and trying to catch your breath. It was entirely unappealing, you preferred a much different style of cardio.
Family Video finally came into view and you gasped out of joy, Max turning back over her shoulder to see if you were alright. Tossing the bikes to the ground you take a deep breath and realize the other two are fine. Dustin asks you if you're good, and you nod, using the bottom of your t-shirt to dab away the sweat on your forehead. Max gives you another small smile, and for a split second, you return it.
The store was small, but inviting. You can remember coming here on Friday nights with your parents when you were younger so that you could pick out a movie and a snack for the weekend. Dustin led you guys inside, greeting the used to be crowned king of Hawkins High, Steve Harrington.
“Hey, Steve,” He says.
“You see this?” Steve asks, his eyebrows making their home in the center of his forehead as he points at the TV hanging on the wall. The other girl behind the counter you recognized from school, Robin. She was in the band, and she knew how to talk.
“How many phones do you have?” Ignoring Steve's question, Dustin leans forward against the counter. Looking up behind them, Steve and Robin notice you and their eyes widen.
“What’s she doing with you?” Robin asks quietly.
“Y-yeah, wait, I’m confused,” Steve mumbles beside her. He was a lot calmer than he used to be. Forcing your lips into a little smile, you roll your eyes and nod your head once. “Someone was murdered-”
“How many phones do you have!” Dustin persists, and the two behind the counter look at one another. They seemed pretty comfortable with each other, sitting closer than any co-workers would normally be.
“Two. Why?” Steve says.
“Technically three, if you count Keith’s in the back,” Robin points out.
“Yeah, three works,” The freshman agree, and start to set up camp behind the register at Family Video. Dustin flings his backpack and himself over the counter, knocking over strategically set up tapes from the older two who shout at him as he does.
“Are you guys not busy?” You ask, walking around the other side with Max, gesturing toward the movies that fell onto the floor. Robin shoots you a disappointed look, one that you smirk and shrug at. She looked pretty with the way her hair was styled, she never got done up for school this way, which has you putting together a theory. Robin and Steve the hair Harrington were a thing. You’ve had class with Robin before, she was funny, and she could do way better than Steve- unless this hero thing with Dustin has anything to do with it.
“Nice pants,” She digs at you, picking up her videos. Looking down at your legs you laugh at yourself.
“Left the house in a bit of a rush,” You say quietly. Shamelessly you were wearing dark blue, accented with light blue, striped pajama pants. The pants probably went great with the white Motley Crue tour t-shirt you wore with your jacket and Converse.
Robin looks up from the floor and smiles, “No, I meant it. I like them.”
“What are you doing, man?” Steve groans, watching Dustin take over the computer.
“Setting up a base of operations here.”
“Base of operations?” Robin asks, looking around at the three of you. She finishes cleaning the floor of the VHSs and gives you another quick look.
“Get off,” Steve says.
“No, I need it,” Dustin pleads.
“Need it for what?”
“Eddie’s friends phone numbers,” Dustin says, and Steve scoffs. You make yourself comfortable, hopping up to sit on one of the counters, smoothing out the lines on the pants you giggle at yourself for wearing. Robin smiles at you.
“Oh, your new best friend Eddie you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game?” Steve taunts.
“Hey,” You whine. Steve waves a hand at you.
“Yes!” Dustin exclaims, then looks at him, “I never said that.”
“A little jealous, Harrington?” You tease, chiming into the conversation. Steve glances to you.
“Isn’t he your entire personality, why do you even need to look this stuff up?” Steve turns back to Dustin. Clapping your hands a couple times, you gesture them back at his back.
“See, Henderson? Douche,” You grin, and a laugh escapes Max.
“Yeah, seriously,” Dustin takes a second to glare at Steve who dramatically rolls his eyes.
“You guys, maybe on a Monday you can play around in here like toddlers, okay, but it’s Saturday,” Robin parents, stacking the video tapes back on the counter, “It’s our busiest day.”
“Robin, I love- Robin. I empathize, but this cannot wait until Monday,” Dustin says a mile a minute, and Steve groans, dragging his hands down his face. You look over to Robin who turns to you with a silent laugh, bringing up your bitchy joke from earlier. Crickets were chirping in this place.
“What so calling all of Eddie’s friends is an emergency? You have one right here,” She throws an arm in your direction before continuing to clean up the mess that was made.
“Correct!” Dustin cheers. Steve directs his attention to Robin, helping her straighten up.
“Uh, d’you want me to strangle him or do you want to?” Steve jokes.
“We could take turns,” Robin sighs, almost leaning back onto his chest. Yup, definitely a thing. Steve turns back to the kids that were murmuring to one another, giving you a chance to check out Robin’s pants. She definitely had to wear them for work, but you liked them too.
“Can you fill them in while I do this?” Dustin asks Max.
“Fill us in on what?” Robin is frustrated as she turns around, having you divert your eyes from her choice of clothing. Taking a deep breath, Max obtains the undivided attention from the olders and gives them the story of the situation, starting with last night. You helped her fill in details from your side for the previous night, leaving out why Chrissy and Eddie were together. Steve’s eyes linger on you as you brush off how weird it looked to anyone who didn’t know why they were together, he seemed concerned. You wanted to tease him, maybe ask why it bothered him, had he been in those shoes before? But, you stop yourself because you realize he has.  Those couple of months you spent with Jonathan Byers told you plenty.
At the end of the story, Max did the same thing she did with Dustin, she implied the possibility of ‘something else’ doing this, losing you again. With the mention of this you figured she’d lose Robin and Steve too, but instead it sent them into a frenzy.
Family Video was then swiftly turned into an investigation station. Papers, everywhere. Robin found a white board and started listing names and numbers while you stood with her to help her fill in the details. Gareth’s parents were called, Eddie wasn’t there.  One person told you guys to check the arcade to which you and Robin both shook your heads, stifling laughs as she told them she really doesn’t think Eddie is there.
At one point, as you sit on the counter again flipping through pages that Dustin had written out, Steve comes to your side and leans his back on the edge. Looking at him without turning your head, you continue flipping, hoping that any of these names in the plethora of choices you had would be a winner. Steve looks down at the chicken scratch and clears his throat.
“What do you want?” You ask, placing the book on your knees. Steve looks at you, then turns away with a shrug.
“Nothin’, nothin’…” He mumbles, then faces you completely, “So, you and Eddie,” He begins, and you groan, “W-wait, hold on,” He holds up a hand, “This whole thing doesn’t add up. Are you guys still dating? I mean, why was he with Chrissy at his house alone last night…” Robin’s attention is piqued, you catch her looking over her shoulder at you.
“Yeah, we’re dating,” You say quietly, “Trust me, I know what he and Chrissy were up to.” Steve clenches his jaw.
“It’s just fishy,” He says.
“Fishy?” You snort, Robin laughing with you.
“Shit is fishy! No guy would-“
“Wrong,” Dustin held up his pointer finger, his attention focused forward on his work, “Eddie is a man of his word.” Steve scoffs, rolling his head backward.
“You said his uncle works nights, he took a cheerleader home,” He drags out his words for emphasis while you sit patiently, waiting for him to finish with a smile on your face.
“Relax,” Robin kicks a foot backward to collide with his knee, “Big boy’s a little insecure ‘cause he can’t get a girlfriend.”
“Yeah, and, Steve, they do it like… all the time. They’re not breaking up,” Max chimes in, making your eyes go wide. She shrugs, slightly cringing, “We live in a trailer park.” Pressing your lips together you let out a painful chuckle, and look back to Steve and Robin bickering.
“I’m sorry, did you say Harrington can’t get a girlfriend?” You smirk. Robin grins with glee and nods. “I really thought you two were together when we came in here.” Both of them freeze, snap their necks to look at one another, and start dying laughing.
“Trust me, I’m not into Steve,” Robin giggles, waving her hands around. Dustin groans where he’s at at the computer, going to his book to scribble out another name.
“Am I the only one working here?” He shouts, looking back at the circus that broke out behind him.
“Yeesh,” Robin sneers playfully. Everyone makes their way back to their posts, but Robin is sure to catch your attention first. She points at Steve and gives you a thumbs down, then she cuts at her neck as if her previous statement of not being into Steve wasn’t enough indication for you.
The front door of the store jingles and a girl in her twenties waltzes in, her done up eyes scanning the shelves happily.
Robin clears her throat, “Pretty one, Stevie, go.” She whispers, and holds up a hand that fingers are counting to three, and once the third one is in the air, Steve is planted right beside the girl with an elbow on a shelf smugly.
“She is pretty,” You say, admiring the way the brunette was dressed. Robin steals a glance at you, both of you eyeing one another for some reason. Robin’s eyes travel downward to your pants. Smiling the smallest smile, she gently shakes her head and goes back to her work.
A considerable amount of time passes, and about a hundred phone calls seem to be made. Whoever owns this company is not going to be happy when they get this phone bill. Gareth ended up calling back just to check on you. Max had him on the phone when he started to talk about Reefer Rick.
“Hey guys, I think I might have a lead,” She spins around with confidence after hanging the phone up.
“Seriously?” Dustin almost spins off of the stool he was on. Putting down the papers you were holding next to Robin, you both turn around to listen to the red head.
“Apparently Eddie gets drugs from some guy named Reefer Rick?” She starts, and you nod, really fast.
“Yeah, Rick,” You say, and Robin taps your arm for not thinking of this sooner.
“Sometimes Eddie crashes there,” Max says, then looks at you, “Have you ever been there?” You nod again.
“Once or twice,” You avert your eyes around the room as you think, “But it was really dark. I  think that was the window we broke into…” Robin glances to the freshman in shock, but she knows they’ve heard and done worse.
“Well this sounds promising, where does this Reefer Rick live?” She asks, holding her hands open.
“See, that’s the thing. No one knows,” Max says.
“He’s more of a legend than someone that people actually know,” You bob your head, trying to pull together memories of nights at Ricks, but rolling around half naked on his couch with Eddie didn’t seem appropriate to share right now. Thinking about how you got there, you couldn’t even piece that together. It was summer, it was hot out, and you were really drunk.
“What about a last name?” Dustin asks hopefully. You shake your head and Max answers with an, “I don’t know.”
“Bet the cops know a last name,” Steve says, coming back to the group after escorting the pretty brunette outside. He had started organizing some of the video tape baskets.
“What?” You question.
“The cops,” He restates, “I mean listen, this Reefer Rick, if he’s actually a drug dealer, I guarantee you he’s been busted at some point. Means he’s in the system.”
“The cops?” Dustin scoffs, “Really, Steve? That’s your suggestion?”
“I think they should be filled in on what we know, on what’s going on,” He suggests. You straighten up, feeling a bout of rage in your chest. Dustin slides off his stool, his eyes are wide.
“You think Eddie’s guilty, don’t you?” He asks, and your hands tighten into fists. Robin notices and reaches for one of your wrists.
“Whoa,” Steve flings his hand around, “I believe in innocence until proven guilty, all that constitutional shit. I just, yanno, don’t think we can rule it out.” Ripping your hand away from Robin, you slam them both on the counter in front of Steve and stare him down. The jock flinches, then slowly turns to meet your eyes.
“If you think, for a second, that we’re involving the cops, I will tear that snug little vest off of your body and shove it so far up your ass it’ll come out of your ears,” You snarl, making Max laugh quietly. Steve stares at you in shock, “I know Eddie. He didn’t do it,” You lower your voice for only Steve to hear, “He can’t even smack me across the face while we’re doing it in the back of his van without checking seventeen times if I’m okay,” Your words have him looking elsewhere, “So, let’s spend a little less time looking for a girlfriend, and a little more time trying to find the son of a bitch who I love, oh, so, very much.”
“Oh, wow, I’ve got it,” Robin sighs happily, hurrying over to the computer.
“What’re you doing?” Max asks, peering over her shoulder. Your standoff with Steve ends when you push away from the counter, maintaining eye contact until he breaks away, then you turn over Robin's other shoulder.
“Maybe we don’t need a last name,” She says and types the name Rick on the keyboard, hits enter, and twelve Rick’s appear on the screen. Clicking on each one, a list of movies that they’ve rented comes up, so you use that to narrow down which Rick would be your Reefer Rick.
Rick number five is the winner. Rick Lipton.
“I would’ve never guessed his last name would be Lipton, that seems so simple for a drug dealer,” Dustin says, making you all laugh in a way.
“What’d you expect? Rick Marijuana?” Robin teases, and Dustin groans as the group laughs louder. She announces Ricks address, mentioning how it’s a perfect place to hide, right by Lovers Lake in the middle of nowhere.
“Oh my god, the lake!” You exclaim, clapping your hands together. The four of them look at you curiously. Dropping your hands by your side sheepishly, you shake your head, “Another thing I can’t… share with the class.”
“My god,” Steve huffs quietly, “You make me want to not find this dude, for your sake.”
“Let’s go,” Max says, and everyone breaks into a rush except for Steve who takes his time, the two of you in another standoff.
“Harrington, when was the last time you-”
“Uh uh,” He demands, “Not going there,” He throws his vest on the shelf under the computer as Robin laughs at him in the background, “But like… are you good?” He genuinely questions, and you raise an eyebrow.
“Am I what?” You ask, folding your arms defensively.
“Like, are you okay?” Steve cracks a smile, pulling on his jacket, “I’ve known you for, what, an hour? And I’m pretty sure I have a good idea of what your sex life is like.”
“Come on, ladies,” Robin sings as she hurries for the door with the freshman.
“I’m fantastic,” You smile at him, “I’m sure you’d love to find out.” Laughing dramatically, Steve tosses his hair backward and slowly shakes his head.
“We’re leaving,” He snickers, trying to bury his growing curiosity.
By the time you got out to Lovers Lake it was dark, everything suddenly becoming a lot more familiar. The car ride here was a little awkward, being shoved in the car with four people you barely knew wasn’t your idea of fun. Robin let you sit up front next to Steve so you didn’t have to be squished between the freshman.
Steve pulled down the dirt road slowly, the streets out here were terribly dark. Robin was right when she said this place was great to lay low. Studying what you could see out the glass, you agreed with yourself that this place seemed a lot more exciting after a drink or two. The house was also just as dark, not a single light was on.
“Hope your boy’s not afraid of the dark,” Steve mutters after turning the radio off.
“He’s not,” You say quietly, looking past his glorious head of hair to check out the windows of the house. Steve smirks, nodding.
“‘Course he’s not,” He says to himself. Parking the car, leaving the keys in the ignition, the kids pour out of the backseat with determination- well, at least Dustin did. The longer you were around him the more you learned to appreciate how ambitious he was. Clunking up the stairs as a group, Dustin rings the doorbell, and you all wait patiently.
Then, he rings it again. And again. And again, and again-
“Okay, well that’s settled. Guess he’s not here,” Steve says, holding up one of the flashlights so Dustin could see the door.
“Eddie! It’s Dustin!” The freshman starts to knock, making you, Steve and Robin hush him. Tapping his shoulder you scrunch up your face and shake your head.
“Not a good idea,” You whisper.
“Look we just wanna talk, no cops, I swear. We just wanna help,” Dustin says after knocking again. Robin points her flashlight to the left, starting to walk that way around the house.
“Robin,” You whisper, harsher than before, “Robin!” She didn’t stop. There wasn’t anyway you’d be caught lurking around Ricks at this time of night alone, so you figured you’d better follow her.
“You don’t remember anything from here?” She asks you once she feels your presence behind her.
“Uh,” You stutter, and gesture to the window on the side of the house, “I unlocked that window with a broken belt once. Eddie… tossed me inside… I helped pull him in.”
“Fun,” Robin pops her brows and blinks a few times. You both hear Steve hush Dustin at the door again who started to shout names, still obnoxiously ringing the doorbell.
Looking into one of the windows that Robin pointed her flashlight into you spotted the living room and the couch you spent nights on. The kitchen looked like it was a mess, but it always was. Beer bottles were thrown wherever they pleased, and butts of cigarettes laid around everywhere.  You’re also sure you saw a carton of milk open on the table. There wasn’t a suspicious thing about his place, but you’re sure half of this group would think otherwise.
Behind you and Robin, Max wanders to the side of the house, shining her flashlight to whatever laid beyond it. Her brows were furrowed above her eyes.
“Hey, guys?” She shouts, getting you all to hurry to her side. When the shed behind the house came into view, you audibly gasped. Pushing past Max’s shoulder, you’re bounding for the door until feet rush up to you and a hand grips your shoulder. Thinking it’s Harrington, you spin around with a nasty glare in your eye only to find Max.
“What are you doing?” She whispers, and your gaze softens.
“Going to get him,” Your tone is a bit harsh at a whisper, but you couldn’t help it. There was a high change that Eddie was in that shed, and you needed to see him. You needed to wrap your arms around him, you needed him to kiss you and tell you that everything was going to be alright. If anything, he needed that from you, too. You weren’t going to waste anymore time standing around with a group of goody-two-shoes when he was right in arms reach.
“Maybe you shouldn’t go first,” Max keeps her voice low, “Just in case.”
“In case of what?” You sigh heavily, bouncing on your toes.
“Shock? Grief? I dunno, I just feel like you should wait here,” She was pleading with you, “We don’t know what’s in there, and… knowing what we’ve seen in the past… It’ll be better if it’s one of us.” Sliding her hand off of you, she nods her head and you slowly join her.
“Okay,” You take a few steps back, “Come get me when you deem it’s safe enough.” You flitted your voice in a silly, spooky pattern to make her smile, and it’s successful.
Wandering around the metal walls for a couple of minutes, the group shines their lights into the windows, scoping it out before Robin pushes the door open with a polite, “Hello?” She jokes to lighten the mood, something you noticed she does, but she gets no answer. Outside the air has gotten a lot cooler than it was when the sun was up. Pulling your jacket around you tighter, you curse yourself for not picking better pajama pants last night. You spin around in a little circle, taking in Rick's property. It was a cute place, and definitely somewhere Eddie would come to hide.
The house was like a cabin, and those were always cozy to you. All the memories that were made here at Ricks were happy ones. You hoped that this one would be too.
With the crickets and nighttime creatures prowling, you can hear the voices of your acquaintances coming out of the open shed door. You figured, another day with them and you’d consider them friends. Max and Robin? Definitely. Dustin? Getting there. Harrington? Questionable, in more ways than one.
You debated sitting down on the grass, but nighttime dew was already setting in so you remained on your feet. Looking out onto the lake, you take a long deep breath and appreciate the crisp night air. This was the best time in Hawkins. Nothing compared. You think about Eddie and that one day when all of this blows over, and you’ve graduated, and life is good, you two can come out here. Hell, maybe you move out here instead of out of Indiana completely.
A deep scream rips through the air, then coming from the shed, multiple voices shouting.
“Eddie! Eddie! It’s me!” You hear Dustin shouting, sending your feet running for that door so fast you’re sure you’ve kicked up the dirt, “This is Steve! He’s not gonna hurt you, right Steve?” Pushing it open with two hands, you land behind Robin, grabbing her shoulders to bring you to a stop. Looking past Dustin, Steve is pinned to the wall with a broken beer bottle pressed to his neck held by a hand that glimmered when the light hit it.
“Eddie,” You say just above a whisper, and his head snaps around, still holding onto Steve with a mother of a grip. He exhales, like he’d been holding it in for days. “Eddie, let him go,” You say calmly, though your legs were like jelly. He was out of his mind, something wasn’t right. Weaving your way around the kids, you step up onto the wooden platform the boys were on, and you hold out a hand.
“Come here,” You nod, tears stinging your eyes the closer you get to him and his pain stricken eyes, “Baby, come here,” He drops the bottle, startling Steve, “Mhm, now let him go, he’s nice.” Eddie’s eyes were stuck on yours. He released Steve from his grasp, Harrington fleeing to behind Dustin, and instead of reaching for your outstretched hands, Eddie stumbled toward the corner and slid down on his back.
Putting your hands behind your back feeling silly, you shuffle sideways to where he wandered and squat down. Eddie jumps at your abrupt movement, holding up his hands in defense. His bottom lip trembles. He’s looking at you through the top of his eyes with his chin tucked low.
“Did somebody hurt you?” You speak gently, keeping your cool- it’s harder than you thought. Eddie vaguely shakes his head, his eyes focusing on the ground. “Have you been here since last night?” He doesn’t answer. “Eddie, hey, we want to talk.” Nothing. Leaning forward a bit, you whisper to him, “Give me something, Princess, I’m having a conversation with myself here,” And it gets him to look at you with a little more Eddie in his eyes. You fight past the tears and smile, opening your hand for him again.
“Let me help you,” You encourage, then tilt your head back to gesture to the group, “Let them help you, they’re the ones who got me here.” Eddie’s eyes flicker to the others, Dustin looking at him with the same hope as you. They meet eyes and Dustin gives him a small wave.
“I’ve been so worried about you, all day,” You say, glancing down to your open palm, “I thought… thought whatever monster took her took you, too.” Eddie shivers, then takes your hand gently.
“You’re… You’re not gonna believe me,” He shudders, sucking in a breath. Robin, Steve, Dustin and Max scoot closer.
“Try us,” Max simply shrugs. Looking from the group, to Max, to you, Eddie sniffles and nods once.
“Hang on,” He whispers, and grips your hand tighter, pulling you into his body where he throws his arms around your back. Slipping yours over his shoulders, you let that wall break and the tears come spilling out. One of his strong hands draws a circle on your back, and you swear you feel him holding back his own tears. Leaning his head backward, he rests his forehead on yours to look at you and he’s flooded with the feeling of safety.
Eddie was already an imperfect soul, but after today he seemed broken in more ways than one. You bring your hands to the sides of his face, slipping them into his hair, and you press a kiss to his lips that he sinks right into.
“It’s gonna be okay,” You whisper to him when you pull away. He uses his thumbs to wipe underneath your lashes. “We’ll be okay.”
“Eddie,” Dustin says softly, getting him to look his way, “You need to tell us what actually happened.” Eddie’s eyes meet yours again and he finally cracks the tiniest of smiles.
“Stay right here,” He whispers.
Comfortably sitting with Eddie on the floor of the shed, between his legs with his arms draped around your body, you listen with the others as he tells the story of what happened last night. With the coaxing of your soft hands on his he made it through, but still threw away the ending, telling you all you won’t believe him. With tears falling for Chrissy, you lift one of his hands and brush your lips over his knuckles.
“You know how people say Hawkins is… cursed?” Dustin asks, “They’re not… way off.” And that’s when you get your explanation of what the group had been discussing all day. You learn about the Upside Down.

Billy
“I’m a rolling thunder..”
AC/DC blared over the speakers and his blue baby roared over the city line. A cloud of familiar pain settled over his chest as Billy drove though Hawkins Indiana. 3 years ago he grabbed his little sister in the middle of the night and took off to California, while it was technically kidnapping he knew Neil wouldn’t come for him. The records of abuse that Billy had would keep the monster in Hawkins, along with all the other monsters. He passed the former rubble of star court mall…it looked like a factory now, and Billy felt a ghost pain over the scars he acquired saving his sister and her friends lives. Max wasn’t thrilled to say the least when he took her away, away from her boyfriend and friends; but she was better now. Sinclair called and wrote her a lot, she kept in touch with all of them; even Harrington and Munson.
A new bar piqued his attention as he turned into the all too familiar town center. Susan had coordinated a time for Billy to get the remaining items in his old home; her own way of making reparations for standing by as he was tortured. Glancing at his watch he sighed, a few more hours until Neil would go to work and he could go to his own nightmare house. Figuring he had some time to kill, Billy pulled into the bar, killed the engine and walked in.
Y/N
Tuesday nights were always slow, you had your regulars and town drunks like usual; but the small bar held only 6 people on a busy Tuesday. Nancy said she’d try to stop by after she got off at the news station but you weren’t holding your breath. She was a great friend but her and Robin often got roped into some activity by Eleven. A soft smile graced your lips as the thought of El putting Robin in bad makeup filled your mind.
Things had calmed down a lot over the last three years. Star court..Vecna…almost losing Eddie; all of it was too much for you and your gang. Thankfully El sent that bastard back to hell for good and the Upside Down hadn’t been more than a nightmare for anyone since then. You’d even started sleeping with the lights off (who cares if you had a few nightlights) which helped the bags under your eyes tremendously. Unfortunately your parents began to bring a new reason why they appeared.
You were pulled from by your thoughts when the door opened and a sun kissed former king of Hawkins high stepped in. A king that constantly picked on you for *anything*. One year you gained a few pounds after comfort eating your way though learning about the Upside Down and Billy never forgot to mention it. Shedding the pounds from running all the time and fighting the damn demidogs he laughed at you for being too skinny. Needless to say, when Billy Hargrove stepped in the door your heart fell to your stomach.

Billy almost froze in his tracks the second he laid his ocean blues on you. A wave of emotions hit him like he’d gotten knocked off a surf board, god damn he thought you looked good. He walked up to the bar and sat, waiting for you to ask him what he was gonna drink. His mind raced as he though of how to address you, everything being the shitty names he called you in high school or the ones he thought about when no one was around. Billy fell in love with you his first week at school, and made sure you hated him as much as he hated his feelings because of it.
A crisp sound pulled him out of his bad thoughts. Looking up he saw you trying to smile and setting a Budweiser in front of him. Did you remember that was his drink? Or was it a lucky guess?
“If I remember, this was your drink of choice right Hargrove?”
*Oh God you remembered.*
He chuckled and brought the bottle to his lips, smiling.
B:“Good memory Y/L/N”
Y: “Kinda hard to forget. You threw a case at my car after one of Tina’s parties.”
Okay, maybe he wasn’t the smartest when he was drunk. Billy visibly winced at the memory and sighed, his shoulders slumped as he looked up at you apologetically. He still had his signature smirk, because the reason he threw that case was your dress. Your cleavage sent him spiraling that whole night. Being around you was like doing a line of coke to Billy at times. Other times it was like getting splashed with cold, sobering water.
B: “yeah…I’m sorry about that. I was kind of an ass.”
Y/N
You chuckled softly at his small apology, and his laugh surprisingly nudged a small feeling you had in your gut.
Y: “I thought you disappeared with Max to the golden coast..”
There was an air of jealousy, he got out. He was able to get away from everything, keep Max safe from Vecna…live away from the dumb rednecks in Hawkins…away from Neil. Max had filled you in on the reason she left in a letter. You never assumed Billy was in that kind of a situation in the first place, you just thought he was an ass.
B: “Yeah, I just needed to get a few more things. Stuff we can’t replace, you know?”
You nodded in agreement, but there was something super weird in the air. It was just awkward between the two of you. Somebody upstairs must have been looking out for you because Steve Harrington burst through the door.
S: “Billy fucking Hargrove…”
B: “Steve Fucking Harrington…”
You instinctively grabbed a glass, just in case they started fighting; but your jaw dropped when the two embraced in a classic Harrington hug.
—————
Two hours had passed and you were crying from laughing so hard. Steve filled you in on the past few years and the friendship he and Billy had developed. It was easy to slip back into your old patterns with friends, but you were surprised with how easy Billy fit into that pattern. You often caught yourself blushing when he noticed you staring at his eyes. The crush you had on him in high school clawed it’s way back up despite all the walls you put around it. He seemed…different. Lighter….safer.
Billy
Glancing at his watch he groaned. He needed to go to the house and get Max’s stuff and his box, but he didn’t want to go. Your eyes were drawing him in every second, and God that laugh…he wanted to listen to it the whole drive back to California. Yet, he needed to do this for Max. She begged him to let her come but he needed to be sure it was safe first.
Sighing he stood up and stretched.
B: “well dorks, this was fun but I have some business to attend to.”
S: “sounds good buddy. Here’s the key to my house, just come in after your done. Robin and I are gonna go to a movie with Vic, Nancy and Jonathan. I’d say you can come but I know you’re gonna be tired…”
B: “I appreciate it man. I..”
He glanced at you, winking.
B: “I think I’m gonna stay for a few days.”

excuse me!!! But!!!!!! Witch!eddie headcanons incoming
Eddie is a garden witch, he actually has his own magic garden in the window boxes at the back of the trailer. It’s mainly herbs which actually help cover the weed smell
He learned from Wayne believe it or not, Wayne’s granny taught him when he was a boy. He doesn’t actively practice now but if Eddie gets sick or he feels some bad news coming you’ll see him out in the woods with a trowel and a determined look
Eddie doesn’t actually tell anyone and uses his ‘freak’ status to disguise his practices, refusing to be ridiculed for something important to him and his uncle
Max starts noticing things though and after many long and loud conversations Eddie agrees to teach her a few things. She might not always show it but max loves the lessons and gives her an opportunity to really throw herself into something that makes her happy
Eddie makes charms for everyone that he passes off as random stuff that he made when he was bored. Every so often he asks if they still have them and everyone always say yes
Steve actually gets laden with these gifts, his car is fully of them, so is his house, hell even his outfits. Eddie has made him so many bracelets/patches/necklaces and Steve is always wearing one. He doesn’t know why but they make him feel safe
At any of the celebration days eddie will deliver home baked food that he’s made with love and intent to hopefully bring good fortune. They aren’t always beautiful but nobody ever rejects his offerings
Eddie, Max and Wayne are like their own little community. They brainstorm on what they can use as substitutes for more specialist (expensive) items and keep a watch out for each other
They don’t hold meetings to channel energy or anything but the three will get together at eddie and Wayne’s trailer or on a drive and listen to rock and metal with the windows down. They all feel recharged and ready for life after these times
Max jokes that Eddie is casting love spells on Steve and that all his attention is on keeping him happy, healthy and safe. She’s wrong about the first point but the rest? Well he doesn’t exactly deny it
