Happy new year, I drew the maximum ride kids (help)

Idk! I have art block and this was fun, I think the designs are definitely inspired by the comics but I added a lot of personal head cannons + a couple more bird features.

Just headshots but I assigned each of them a specific bird too. Some are basically canon and some I took more liberty with like Angel being a white heron. I think it’s neat! Still fits her pure white wings, but I think it fits all of Angel’s weird aquatic stuff nicely. Also; herons are predators and I enjoy making her uncanny. I considered owl too, more similar to Gazzy and possible more in line with all the mind stuff but I just think herons are cool and kinda spooky.

Hey so what the fuck was going on with Maximum Ride? Like I didn't get all the way through the series as a kid but I got a good six books or so in and just like

The kids all had wings. That's cool, I get that. But they had other superpowers? There was one kid who could feel the emotions of people through objects and got fucking PTSD from a war memorial and it was super emotional but there was also just? A kid? With fucking neurotoxic farts? Like oh hey sorry kiddo you gotta carry the weight of ten thousand soldiers deaths forever now but this poor kid over here is cursed with the fuckin poots. Like at one point he farts and it takes out literal trained soldiers. Also there's a blind kid but he's just kinda not blind anymore for like three seconds at a time and they keep bringing it up and I don't remember if they explained it? Some of them could just chameleon blend into the backround for no reason? The fuck?

The main villain was the School, and then it was Jeb, and then it wasn't Jeb, and then it was The Institute or something, and then it was a brain in a jar pushed around on a wheelchair by a gorilla at the bottom of the ocean, and then it was all a dream, and then it wasn't all a dream and the author was fucking with you?

Why was there a talking dog with wings?

Why did the kids join the fucking US military?

There was a bit in one of the books where a new dude with wings pops up and Max gets all weird about her relationship with Fang because apparently new guy has literally been genetically altered in order to be the perfect boyfriend for her and if I remember correctly he was just sort of? Okay with that? The fuck?

Did all this shit actually happen in those books or is there some sort of magical context information that I'm missing that makes it all less of a fucking fever dream?

So like if the School is in Death Valley, which is a desert, how come when Max was dreaming about running away from it at the start of book one, it was surrounded by trees and forest?? I don’t know much about US geography, but I don’t think a desert is supposed to have a bunch of trees in it. Cacti, maybe. But a forest?

So what do y’all think? Should we just put it down to dream weirdness, or is it just another example of jimmy p being a dumbass?
