@mercysought asked: ❛  let’s  pretend  like  we’re  friends .  ❜ from maxima :) (𝑺𝑶𝑭𝑻 𝑻𝑯𝑶𝑹𝑵𝑺 STARTERS: no longer accepting.)
A strange request...but as usual, he's calm. Gale, dressed to the nines—a ravishing ensemble, his cloth of purple kissed prettily with teal—looks casually upon the twirling masses. He's little one for galas, more a man of libraries than lavish sprawls; however, with Maxima's quip, he craves home more than ever. Gosh, her cruel, foul mouth! Lesser men would wail.
Fortunately, Gale, ears ringing with the crashing music, is hardly one to rile. As it were, he and Maxima go way back, far back, his chest with bomb and his hair more grey. She's scalding where he soothes. She's knives where he's poetry. And diametrically opposed, born to clash like the elements, Gale, beside her, finds a state of equilibrium; that is, he, inspired, grows sassy, too.
"Under better circumstances, I would advocate for being of the very same mind," he starts lamely, "but as it were, you've those morals of a corkscrew." You're a jester, Gale. He finishes his glass of wine, sets it down, and bunches his brows. Maxima... "I wonder what it is friendship with you entails. If you're asking for a dance, this is a rather roundabout way of doing it."
Not one to fear burns, Gale turns, her sharp eyes greeting him through the sheen of chandeliers. Things have changed since their youth, his life now compromised. (He needs her help.) She still dreams, he's sure.

the "familial" relationships between magisters and slaves on ab.so.lution and how I feel that applies to maxima
I just need to screams into my palms ok, ok
Maxima was actually the firstborn (born from an enslaved elf) just before magister aurum married his wife. She was the sole child for three years and the magister seemed to actually show a lot of "affection" towards her (not unlike what Rezaren shows for Neb and Miriam)
His wife found the connection distasteful and when Marcus was born she made sure to make it clear that she'd have them both killed unless they were removed. And only then was it at all possible for Maxima's mother to buy her own freedom (and, from her point of view, as a slight also buy maxima's to remove the dear daughter from him as a last fuck you)
If it had not been for this Maxima's life in tevinter would have likely been objectively terrible, as bad as Miriam's. Maxima passes for a human (because I follow the canon that any human elven mix (or elf-blooded) will pass for a normal human and I abide by that strictly. Maxima's arc hinges on this. It is unlikely anyone will realise her elven roots just by looking at her) and what this would likely translate to, as someone with magic, is indentured servitude to the magister's children as a protector. Or killed off because of the potential threat.
It hurts because there are so many parallels between them and yet they would never see eye to eye. Maxima because she has fully realised that she will never belong anywhere, not as a human not as an elf so she will take any and all things she can and thus takes the magister's seat once her father calls to her when the templar-mage rebellion is in full swing and she feels in danger, returning is not a decision she makes easily but as a circle mage what other options did she have). And Miriam because even if she knew she would likely hate that Maxima seems to be upholding the same chains that put people like them in servitude.
She is not wrong, but Hira's backstory (and Dorian's father death in trespasser) touch on a very big reason why maxima's moves towards policy changes that are more subdued and tactical (as opposed to joining the lucerni for instances which is a very public stance): A part of her own family wants to see her dead because they see her as an unworthy successor, she has been away from tevinter for a great part of her life and she wants to live and make an impact for as long as she can.
Maxima is sure that is something that many elves or elf-blooded would not forgive her for - at the same time, Maxima's belief is that no elf could ever accept her anyway, even before she took the position.

I had a spicynoodles idea last night
It's basically just them in Tangled
LBD is Mother Gothal obvi, MK is Rapunzal and Red Son is Flynn.
Maybe Mei can be Pascal but a tiny dragon instead? Or she's Maximas but badass horse dragon.
King and Queen(I don't think they have names) can is Shadowpeach.
Suggestion from @frikijedai, Freenoodles run the ugly duckling bar place, and I really like that.
I think it also works with Red Son as Rapunzal and MK as Flynn but Red Son doesn't seem like the type to take LBD's bs as much. He does have the hair for it tho
Important Update!
I'm going with the Red Son as Rapunzal version, @py-dreamer had some really good ideas + I get to draw Red Son with really long, fluffy hair.
MK works good as Flynn because he can fit Flynn's story pretty well, an orphan inspired by a popular character in a story he told all the other kids and makes a new image for himself based on that hero.
Mei is a smol dragon that is constantly teasing the boys, she's kinda like the dragon from the Barbie Rapunzal movie, maybe she can turn into a humanoid form but prefers or is stuck in ity bity dragon form.
LBD definitely knows about Mei here but since she's very smol and seemingly insignificant, LBD doesn't give a shit about her, + she keeps Red Son from bugging her too much.
Freenoodles still run the ugly duckling tavern/restaurant thing like in the suggestion from @frikijedai.
The Mayor is still LBD's assistant, I thought about him being the small old man from the tavern but nah.
This isn't strictly sticking to the Tangled story, it's more Tangled + fairytale inspired AU, it has the same major plot points but the details are a bit different.
Red Son's power does not come from his hair, he has the power in him. His hair will glow and hest up when he says the incantation, and he can send the fire through it + it catches fire when he gets too emotional. So his hair is a better weapon cause it can burn people. If it gets cut its very flammable.
MK is still a monkey.
Update 2!
The more I work on this the less it sticks to the Tangled story

Sebastian Sallow x f!SlytherinReader
Summary: After the colourful events of your fifth year, the trauma you'd experienced was haunting you. Not wanting to go home for the summer holidays to your muggle non-understanding parents, the question arises: where will you stay over the summer?
Words: 4.9k
Warnings: Reader experiences anxiety & a panic attack. Spoilers for the game. Ominis isn't our friend :((( Other than that, mostly fluff
Notes: Thank you all so much for the support and the love on my writing. This is really a great hobby for me (and usually self-indulgent), and I'm so flattered that so many of you enjoy what comes out of my brain. My blog just hit 100 followers, thank you!
Tumblr media
End of term. The summer holidays had begun. The air felt a little lighter and a beautiful bright blue sky shone over the castle and surrounding hamlets.
There had been a certain buzz in the air, an almost palpable excitement for the upcoming break over the past few weeks at Hogwarts. Exams were over, many students taking their O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S had returned to their regular scheduled care free attitudes. The Professors even lightened up during the last few weeks of term. Even Professor Sharp didn’t give Garreth detention for blowing up his maxima potion, by somehow adding Puffskien fur to the concoction. Weasley getting off scot-free under Professor Sharp's watchful eye was unheard of up until now.
Breaktimes were largely spent outdoors, the main common areas of the castle left tranquil and silent in the cool shade. You preferred this however. The calming atmosphere of the castle and the alone time was what you desperately needed.
You spend your afternoons curled up on a bench in the Defence Against the Dark Arts tower with a book, or preferably your common room. The library was your usual haunt but it had become unbearable in the heat. Plus, Madam Scriber seemed much more irritable than usual, although you could hardly blame her, being stuck inside that sauna all day. She was stalking around looking as if she was about to cast Glacius on herself.
The question had arisen early on Monday morning, the last Monday of term.
“So, are you going back to your parents for the holidays?” Sebastian asked, slumping down next to you on the almost empty common room sofa, leaning his elbows on his knees.
He looked tired nowadays, not the same confident, charming freckle faced boy you’d met on your first day. Hints of him returned every now and then, but it felt as if you were seeing him through a thin veil. It broke your heart.
You shook your head, giving a definite no. You hadn’t even told your parents you weren’t planning on returning for the summer holidays. At least not straight away. You weren’t sure what you were going to do but, Merlin knows you couldn’t just go home.
You loved your parents, dearly. You didn’t hate the muggle world either, quite the contrary in fact. Despite all this, you just couldn’t quite bring yourself to face your perfectly normal home and perfectly normal parents. Not yet. Not after the year you’d had.
The truth was, ever since defeating Ranrok and witnessing Professor Fig’s death mere months ago, you didn’t sleep. Or if you did manage to drift off, peaceful sleep was evaded by horrific nightmares and haunting images of your beloved Professor Fig laying lifeless before you. Or Ranroks bellowing, booming distorted voice, pounding in your ears, and that huge monstrous dragon creature looming over you.
You wake up in cold sweats a lot, panting and shaking. It was useless to attempt to settle again after that, instead most early mornings, you’d make your way into the common area and curl up once again, with a book.
That wasn’t the only thing lingering and haunting you. Sebastian. You had witnessed him perform the worst Unforgivable imaginable. He committed murder, on his own family member no less. That was your best friend, of course you wouldn’t turn him in. You couldn’t. A part of you wanted to hate Sebastian for what he did, for being so stupid, but you never could. Your eyes still fixed on him with the same adoring gaze you’d always had, but the guilt was eating you alive for feeling this way. About someone who’d done something so terrible, someone you were protecting.
Still, everytime he came and joined you like he did on that Monday morning, you desperately wanted to throw yourself into his arms. To sob into his chest and spill every single tiny worry you’d been having while gripping him so tight he couldn’t move. Sebastian had no idea the turmoil you’d been experiencing over the past few months. He was aware something was up, but in his mind he’d put it down to just recovering from recent events. He had no idea the true extent of your suffering. You couldn’t bring yourself to even mention it. He was going through so much himself, his Uncle, and now losing Anne. Even Ominis had abandoned his best friend. You couldn’t blame them. So you'd simply just kept quiet. He was in agony too.
So the both of you sat there, in a lingering silence, you staring at your book and Sebastian at the floor.
After a moment, Sebastian responded.
“Where are you going to go?”
You shrugged indifferently.
“I’m not sure yet. My parents aren’t going to be home for the first few weeks, and I don’t fancy being alone in my muggle house.” You lied, flicking the page of your book, knowing your parents weren’t going anywhere. The height of their adventures includes visiting the coast sometimes for a weekend once a year.
Sebastian shifted for a second in his seat, elbows still resting on his knees, seemingly deep in thought.
“Why don’t you stay with me, for a bit?” He asked, hesitantly.
You turned to look at him for a second, your eyes pulling away from your book for the first time in what felt like hours. Your eyes had to adjust to your surroundings, the edges seemingly blurry.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, my Uncle’s house in Feldcroft. It’s the only place I’ve got. But it’s empty now, with Uncle Solomon...” He trailed off at his words and you nodded gently, showing that he needn’t go no further.
“And Anne… doesn’t want to see me. She’s staying with her friend’s family I think. Ominis, I’m not sure. He’s not spoken to me since… everything” Sebastian continued thickly.
“So, I wouldn’t mind the company, if you-“
“Yes. That would be nice.” You cut him off, responding a bit too quickly.
In all honesty, you couldn’t think of a better offer. Sebastian couldn’t bare to be in that house alone and you couldn’t bare to be with people that didn’t have a clue what had happened to you. Or even begin to understand what had happened to you. And where on earth do you begin to even explain such events?
“Settled. You can stay as long as you like.” Sebastian said, softly.
-
The last day of term approached very quickly. Everyone hugging, saying their goodbyes with their mountains of trunks following closely behind them and a shower of owls in hot pursuit.
The majority of students were readying themselves for the Hogwarts Express, you and Sebastian amongst another small handful of students were awaiting carts to take them and their luggage to various hamlets across the Scottish Highlands.
Amongst the sea of faces awaiting to head over to the Hogwarts express, you caught a glimpse of one of your favourites.
You made a beeline straight for the pale faced boy, who was standing amongst his peers with his luggage.
“Ominis!” You approached him slightly out of breath, having to push through the crowd.
“Oh, Y/N.” Ominis said, softly.
You didn’t hesitate and pulled him into a long, hard hug. He jumped slightly at the sudden contact, and you muttered an apologetic ‘sorry’ in his ear as you pulled away, forgetting his rule about surprise hugs. They tended to startle him.
“How are you?” You asked tentatively.
“I’m fine, how are you?
“Oh Ominis, I’ve missed you.” You could feel your throat closing as you clung onto the boy's robes.
“Where are you going for the summer?” You asked suddenly, aware that Ominis usually spent the summer with the Sallow family.
“My parents.” The boy said, coldly. You were aware this tone wasn’t directed at you.
“Oh, Ominis…” you sighed apologetically.
“What about you? You’re going home I assume?”
“No,” you croaked. “I’m, I’m staying in Feldcroft, with-“
“Ah. I see.” Ominis cut you off, he couldn’t bear to hear the name of his former best friend any longer. The betrayal he felt over Sebastian’s actions cut deep.
“Are you sure you don’t want to-“ but again you were cut short.
“No thank you, Y/N. In my eyes he is no better than my parents.”
Your eyes widened at this comment, it hit you hard.
“You surely don’t mean that, Ominis.” You gasped.
“I won’t discuss it further. Have a pleasant summer, Y/N.”
And with Ominis’s final words, the distant sound of the Hogwarts Express pulling up rang in the air. The steam engine hissed lowly in the distance, and the crowd of students suddenly erupted to life, all clambering for their luggage.
You watched as Ominis gathered his things and disappeared into the crowd without another word, your stomach burning and twisting and his words still echoing in your ears.
You returned to Sebastian after your brief conversation with Ominis, you didn’t share any details with him. You decided he didn’t need to hear what had been said.
The two of you clambered onto a Thestral cart that was heading for Feldcroft.
-
It took you a mere few hours to settle at the Sallow house. Feldcroft was much livelier since Ranrok’s loyalists had cleared off, although some locals still seemed on high alert, which was perfectly reasonable in your book. There were still remnants of battle preparation scattered across the hamlet, crates of chinese chomping cabbages and Dark Wizard dummies still everpresent.
You’d unpacked your trunk, and Sebastian had shown you your bed.
You were sleeping in Anne’s old bed.
You’d seen the Sallow house once before, and it was cosy and quaint, much like all the other houses in the settlement. It wasn’t much but you felt safe. You had Sebastian. That was enough.
Sebastian had been in and out of the house all day, chatting briefly to neighbours and locals. A lot of people seemed to be wondering about the whereabouts of the rest of the family. Sebastian had come up with a clever lie about Anne, and as far as the rest of Feldcroft knew, Uncle Solomon had died in a tragic accident defending his brother's children from Ranrok’s loyalists. After his fifth conversation that afternoon with another local wanting the latest news, he stormed in through the front door, locked it behind him with his wand and slumped down on his bed, face in his hands.
A deep sigh escaped his lips and he rubbed his hand roughly over his face.
“People asking questions?” You asked, quietly.
“Too many. Once I leave Hogwarts, I’ll be out of this place.”
-
It was late into the evening when shot up from the kitchen table, you’d both been relaxing by the fire, a game of chess between you.
“What, what is it?” Sebastian said, sitting straight back in his chair in surprise.
“I completely forgot to write an owl to my parents, they’re going to expect me home.” You were saying the words as you scrambled frantically through your trunk for spare parchment and a quill. You seized the spares you could find and began scrawling a letter to your parents on the kitchen table, informing them of your whereabouts.
You were deep in thought composing your letter until Sebastian said
“But Y/N, you don’t have an owl?”
You stopped writing mid sentence and looked up at him, the realisation dawning on both of you that neither of you had owls.
“I’ll nip over to the school owlry, it’ll be fine.” You uttered quickly after a second, and continued to write.
“Y/N, how? You can’t get into the school.”
“I have a broom Sebastian, I won’t get caught.”
You stood up straight, finishing your letter and producing an envelope from thin air to slot it in. You sealed it and scrawled your parents' address on it. Making your way towards the door, Sebastian called out after you.
“Y/N, it’s late. Do you want me to join you? Will you be okay?”
You turned to look at him briefly, and a small smile formed on your lips for the first time in what felt like a lifetime. Sebastian relaxed in his seat slightly when meeting your eye.
“You’re right, you’ll be fine. But, if there’s anything, anything at all, you come right back or send up flares, do you understand?” Sebastian ordered, and you nodded, still sporting a small smile as you headed outside for your broom.
The cool, evening summer air hit your face pleasantly as you soared through the night sky, heading back towards Hogwarts, silently cursing at yourself for forgetting to do this a week ago.
Still, you were somewhat grateful for this. It gave you an excuse to go out alone, a ride on your broom always cleared your head. There was an extraordinary feeling of peace being up in the sky at night. The quiet, the stars twinkling just above and the faint glow of fires and candles littering the ground below.
You managed to sneak into the school owlry without much of a problem. Alohomora easily broke the lock, and you sent a scrawny barn owl on its way with your letter. You hoped it wouldn’t be long before your parents received it, you knew they’d be worrying by now. Not hanging around, you kicked off the tower, soaring straight back into the air, heading back for Feldcroft.
-
The hamlet grew nearer, the tiny houses in the distance growing bigger as you flew closer to your temporary home. All of a sudden, your stomach began to twist violently. Anxiety flooded through your body and you stiffened on your broom, making a sharp dive to the right. You plummeted for the ground, needing your feet to be touching something solid this very second. You landed hard, stumbling a little as you tried to steady yourself. Taking a deep breath, you leant on your broom for support and attempted to breathe.
You didn’t know why the sight of Feldcroft had caused you to react like that, maybe it was the thought of being inside and cooped up that just filled you with dread? The thought of having to sleep again, only to experience harrowing nightmares? Your head spun and you collected yourself for a moment, before setting off slowly the opposite way from Feldcroft.
You walked, and walked. You weren’t even sure for how long or how far, you were just enjoying the serenity. The odd sound did startle you, but you gripped your wand tight and carried on down a dirt path. A lake emerged to your right, as the trees and bushes thinned. It looked beautiful you thought, as you were immediately drawn to the still water, glistening under the moonlight. You sat for a moment on the ground next to it, legs up at your chin, still gripping your wand. Your eyes glazed over the water absentmindedly, your mind running at a hundred miles an hour.
You kept thinking back to what Ominis had said earlier.
“In my eyes he is no better than my parents.”
The words made your insides twist and turn in a torturous manner. Ominis Gaunt, a boy that loathed his family, the same family that caused him immense trauma, choosing to live with them for the next two months rather than you and Sebastian. It spoke volumes. His best friend who he trusted implicitly, betrayed him in the most hurtful way. Disregarded his warning at every turn. On the other hand, you saw and understood why. Sebastian was desperate, desperate to help and do good. But it has left him with nothing. Only you.
Were you an idiot for staying by his side? Were you just as bad as him? Were you both bad people? It has been a question echoing around in your brain for the past few weeks now, Ominis had merely amplified it.
A tear trickled down your cheek, and you sniffed and wiped it away quickly, knowing you should be heading back.
-
You approached the edge of Feldcroft quicker than you’d expected, it appeared in the distance as nothing more than a dark opening. It was desolate now and pitch black, only the odd candle lit in a bedroom causing a faint warm glow to flicker from a window.
Your legs were aching from walking and lugging your broom back with you, you didn’t quite feel up to flying at that very moment. That or you were delaying the amount of time it would take you to get back. You weren’t sure if it was either or both.
Nothing had quietened your mind on the journey back either this time. The darkness and your own footsteps didn’t quite act as an adequate distraction from your thoughts. Your palms were sweaty from clutching your wand so tightly in your hand.
Trudging through a particularly uneven part of grass, you rejoined the dirt path that led straight into Feldcroft. Focusing on the path ahead and able to see the Sallow house, very suddenly, a dark shape darted rapidly out of the corner of your eye, causing you to gasp and spin towards the movement. Your eyes scanned around, heart thumping in your chest as you desperately strained to see in the dark. Your hands were almost shaking.
One of the Dark Wizard dummies had, for some reason, decided to re centre itself. You sighed, your shoulders visibly relaxing as you set your wand down.
Merlin, how could you be so stupid? Merely weeks ago you were fighting Ranrok in his deadliest form, and now you were being startled by a training dummy.
This seemed to flick a switch.
Without a second thought, you lunged towards the training dummy and began casting. Throwing as many casts of scarlet light as you could. You yelled Accio and the offending dummy came flying forward, and you continued to blast casts at it until it was shooting backwards again. Small splinters of wood were flying through the air, spraying to the ground but you didn’t stop. Flashes of Ranrok flit through your mind. Professor Fig, laying motionless on the ground. That booming voice echoing in your skull. Professor Garlick’s screams as she, amongst the other teachers, found you and Fig. You’d refused to let go of your beloved Professor. Blast after blast hit the dummy, and you weren’t even aware you were yelling curses at it until a pair of arms wrapped themselves around you.
“Get off of me!” You yelled, panic taking over your entire body and scrambling to get away, until you heard a familiar voice.
“It’s me, it’s me. It’s okay, you’re okay.” Sebastian shushed and held onto you tight. You collapsed into him, sinking to the floor as tears streamed down your face.
“It’s okay, it’s okay.” He continued to shush you and reassure you, stroking your hair as you sobbed, your shoulders shaking from the force of your cries.
“Let’s get you inside.” Sebastian hushed, helping you to your feet. You followed him, still sobbing and shaking.
An elderly wizard dressed in silk pyjamas had popped his head out of his door to see what the noise was. Another witch wearing a striped magenta robe had done the same. Sebastian reassured them everything was fine as he hurried you back inside.
Once inside, Sebastian grabbed a thick knitted blanket and ordered you to sit on the bed. He wrapped it around your shoulders tightly.
“What happened? Are you okay? Who hurt you?” Sebastian fired questions at you, but you shook your head.
“No-No-one.” You cried through strangled sobs.
“Then what is it darling? What’s wrong?” Sebastian dropped to his knees in front of you, and placed his hands on yours. At first, you couldn’t speak. How could you form an answer? There were so many things you could say were ‘wrong’. Nothing felt right anymore. You decided that was your answer.
“Everything’s wrong.” You croaked through small sobs.
“I know, I know.” Sebastian whispered softly. “Is this to do with Professor Fig?”
You couldn’t meet his eye, your own eyes red and puffy. You nodded slowly, taking a deep breath to try and calm your sobs.
“Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry.” Sebastian paused for a second as he traced circles on your palm with his thumb, attempting to calm your intense sobs. “Professor Fig was wonderful, and I know he was a great mentor to you. He would be so proud of you if he could see you today.” Sebastian continued, softly.
Your gaze flicked to his at his words, your cries subsiding slightly but you were still shaking.
“I just, I miss him. It wasn’t right and I feel like it was… it was all my fault.” You choked, the tears threatening to close your throat as quickly as you’d just tamed them.
“No, no. None of this is your fault. Please, don’t ever think that. You possess an extraordinary ability that is beyond your control. If anyone’s to blame, it’s Ranrok and his lot. But you stopped it, you stopped it all.”
Sebastian’s deep brown eyes stared into yours sincerely as he spoke, his hands were still interlocked with yours.
You took a hand away for a second, going to wipe away your tears but Sebastian quickly released his grip, and brought his hands up to cup your face gently, to wipe them away for you with his thumbs. You felt your cheeks flush underneath his palms as he wiped away your plentiful tears, his eyes never leaving yours. There was a moment of silence, a comfortable silence but it hung in the air almost like a pause. A tension lingered that you could almost taste.
Sebastian cleared his throat and removed his hands gently, before returning them to intertwine with your palms.
“How long have you been feeling like this?” He asked,
“Since it all happened, really. I haven't been sleeping.” You confessed quietly.
“Oh, Y/N, I wish you would’ve said something.”
“I know but you’ve got your own issues to deal with. I thought I’d be fine, truly. It just seems to have gotten the better of me tonight.”
“That’s understandable, especially if you’ve been bottling it up. Merlin, I feel so stupid that I didn’t notice before that it was something more serious.” Sebastian scowled at himself.
“Don’t be daft, I’m good at keeping things close without even meaning to sometimes.” You said, earnestly.
Sebastian got to his feet after being knelt in front of you, and gestured you to do the same. Once you were standing, blanket still draped over your shoulders, he pulled you into a tight embrace, your head buried into the crook of his neck and his hand resting on the back of your head.
You felt your entire body relax at his touch, and sighed as a tear trickled down your face but this time it was from relief. Relief of sharing even a part of your struggle, and from feeling Sebastian’s touch. You breathed in his scent and it made you dizzy, but equally it was entirely comforting.
He kissed the top of your head before releasing you from his hug, and you blushed scarlet.
“I was just about to get ready for bed but I was getting worried, I wasn’t going to sleep until I knew you were home safe.” Sebastian murmured.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve been back sooner.” You apologised quietly.
“No, no don’t apologise. I am rather tired now though. Would you like me to get you anything before I turn in for the evening?” Sebastian continued through stifled yawns. You shook your head and thanked him, you were still inches apart after hugging.
“Of course, if you can’t sleep or need anything please, please just wake me.”
“I will.” You lied, and with that, the Sallow boy crossed the room to his bed in the corner.
A comfortable silence fell, and you decided to shrug off your robes and follow suit. You may as well get comfortable, even if you knew peaceful sleep wasn’t in the picture.
As your robes dropped onto the bed, you turned about to kick your boots off and briefly saw Sebastian unbuttoning his shirt to expose his bare chest, causing you to look away quickly.
“No peeking.” He smirked, pulling the curtain that allowed for some privacy across his chest. You blushed scarlet again, and shook your head looking away.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” You muttered, a small smile forming on your lips as you turned away.
It didn’t take long for Sebastian to drop off to sleep. He bid you goodnight from behind his curtain and within a few minutes, gentle snores filled the room. You got as comfortable and as cosy as you could, and surprisingly, the low sound of Sebastian’s snores mixed with exhaustion from the day, allowed you to nod off within good time.
-
You jolted with a start, the covers flying to the side as you shot up out of bed, your neck and face clammy with cold sweat. Nightmares, once again. Breathing heavily, you swallowed thickly as it took you a moment to register that you weren’t waking in your dorm. Your brain caught up as you took in the surroundings of the dark Sallow house. The only light being emitted was that of faint moonlight, that cast a glowing slither of light through the middle of the room. Wiping your forehead gently, you tried to mull over what you’d been dreaming about. This one was slipping away fast however, and you were grateful for the fact. You guessed it would be the same as all the others, Ranrok. Fig. Screaming.
You adjusted the covers, settling and laying back down on your back. Staring up at the ceiling, you noticed something, there was a complete absence of sound. It felt eerie more than peaceful, Sebastian's snoring had been somewhat of a source of comfort. Clearing your throat gently, you hesitated before calling out into the darkness.
“Sebastian?” Your voice was barely more than a whisper.
“Mmm?” His voice hummed from the other side of the room, and he sounded wide awake.
“You’re awake?” You whispered.
“You’ve been talking in your sleep.” He said, softly. You closed your eyes in a mix of embarrassment and guilt, sighing rather deeply.
“Oh Merlin, I’m so sorry.”
“No, don’t apologise. it’s fine. I was debating whether or not to come and wake you. You said you hadn’t been sleeping well so I didn’t want to disturb you but… you also sounded as if you were having a nightmare.” Sebastian said.
“I was.” You replied, quietly before adding, “What was I saying?”
“A lot of it was incomprehensible. Lots of muttering.” Sebastian replied, and you heard him shuffle in his bed.
There was a pause, and you didn’t know why, but you found yourself beginning to sob again, silently. Tears trickled down your cheeks and pooled onto the pillow supporting your head. Your chest hollowed as you tried to stifle your sobs.
“Sebastian?” You croaked, trying to sound as normal as possible.
“Hmm?” He hummed once again in response.
“Can you just… Can I join you?” You stammered, tears still streaming down your cheeks.
A gentle shuffling sound filled the room all of a sudden and Sebastian had swung out of bed, whipping the curtain back, his eyes finding you immediately.
“Oh sweetheart, of course.” Sebastian sighed, opening his arms as he sat on the side of his bed. You shuffled over, hugging yourself as the cool night air made your skin prickle.
You gladly almost fell into his arms, letting him pull you into a tight embrace. To your surprise, Sebastian pulled you back onto the bed, causing you to squeal a little in shock as he let out a low laugh.
“Sorry.” He said, with a grin that told you he wasn't in the slightest. His face lingered inches from yours as he’d laid down whilst pulling you towards him, meaning you were hovering over him as he lay.
Gradually, that wide grin faded, your smile faltering also, as the reality hit the pair of you that you were inches away from each other. You almost weren’t breathing as you gazed into his dark eyes, that flickered slightly in the moonlit room. A hand that was resting on your hip moved up your back, and rested on the back of your head softly, his fingers brushing through your hair. Your eyes threatened to close at the relaxing feeling of Sebastian's fingers in your hair. The same hand made its way round to cup your cheek. His palm was warm, comforting. You breathed in and all you could smell was him, and maybe that’s why you found yourself leaning forward and closing the small gap between you. Your lips connected and Sebastian immediately kissed you back. Your entire body felt as if it had been set alight, every nerve ending on fire and your cheeks flushing red as you kissed the boy you’d been longing for for so long.
He pulled away first, your faces still inches apart and his palm still cupping your face.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” He said, lowly. Your eyes flit between his.
“Me too.” You breathed, and your chest swelled with a bubbly warm feeling. It was the most at ease you’d felt in months. You shuffled slightly so that you were now at his side in the bed, squeezing into the corner and he chuckled as you fought with the covers. Settling, you nuzzled your head into his chest and he absentmindedly began running a hand through your hair again, before placing a kiss on top of it.
“Goodnight, Sebastian.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”

The Road to Tertium
Jullus pyr Norbanus calls the twins children, but is obviously quite young himself; Cirina calls him a "boy" and Maxima notes his youth while also having the title "pyr".
After the disaster at Victor's Spoils, the twins leap at the chance to try again, taking what they learned in dealing with the Garleans there. This worries Y'shtola, but not enough to put her foot down and stop them, nor does Lucia think it a bad idea.
One of my favorite bits here is Lucia's specific language, emphasizing "observe" and "Thancred."
Lucia: You will be received as invited guests, and so I urge you to observe proper social etiquette and conduct yourselves accordingly. Lucia: Your safe return takes precedence above all else. Remember this. Lucia: Thancred in particular will be worried sick if you're gone too long. May the Fury watch over and keep you. Lucia: As I said before, Thancred can be quite the worrier, but rest assured he only has your best interests at heart…
Earlier, when discussing the scouting missions upon arrival:
Thancred: How about you, G'raha? I've a feeling we'll find a use or two for that vanishing spell of yours. G'raha Tia: 'Twould be my honor to be of service, though I doubt that you of all people need rely on my tricks.
After Shadowbringers and that damn trolley duty, we know how effective Thancred can be at hiding when he must, though the toll that can take. His stealth skills also got a decent reminder in the Metal Gear duty on arrival in Garlemald. But the invisibility spell will be handy in a short while here, as the WoL and the twins head to Tertium.
Knowing your friends are watching out for you, WoL and the twins head out on an escort quest, Jullus feeling like he ought to recognize the WoL's name but not quite managing.
Jullus is on the lookout for tails, and makes threats concerning it. But there's no way he will see Thancred--even without G'raha's invisibility spell--if the rogue doesn't want Jullus to see him.
Jullus also doesn't want to hear of a so-called cure for the tempered; his experience with the dangerous afflicted tells him otherwise, nor can he trust the Eorzeans yet. And later of course, we find out his own more personal trauma regarding the tempered, as the party faces more twisted tempered the closer they get to the city and Tertium.
Quintus is one of those stubborn old men whose mind is made up. He believes so thoroughly in Garlean superiority there's no getting through, as obviously frustrated as it makes the twins, who have no further rejoinders.
Aspects of Quintus's speech is not so different from Varis at the Ghimlyt parley; the Garleans were taught that differences and compromise made for poor peace; only might makes right, and anyone who did not agree with Garlemald's rule and order were the warmongers who would see the empire burn. He will not, cannot, believe that altruisim exists or that peace is possible without aggression.
Which is rubbish and foolish, and is why the people he ought to be protecting instead are freezing and starving, leads to him nearly ordering his remaining troops to their deaths, and his own eventual suicide.
The twins are fitted with shock collars, though Quintus has recognized the WoL, and in a fit of story excusing gameplay, doesn't bother having a collar put on WoL, so players might come and go as needed. It's another case of "if this was a single-player game, the situation would be different."
Though honestly after all they've been through, I doubt the twins would react much to the shock collars either. Alphinaud's dealt with a dragon's eye, Alisaie uses pain to get angrier, and they both stood against Emet-Selch in battle. A little magitek shock isn't going to stop the Leveilleurs!

A Fiery Surprise.
@hp-12monthsofmagic prompt for this July, surprise.
Summary: Long after the second wizarding war, Charlie decides to have his own dragon sanctuary in Southern England. But what is a dragon sanctuary without dragons? A new friend of Madeline's might just be the solution to this problem.
Warnings: Adorable dragon family and Madeline and Charlie, Fire, mentions of blood and injury but nothing graphic, Dragons... LOTS of dragons.
A/N: This was such a fun story to write! But honestly, any story I write about Charlie and Madeline and their future quaint family life gets me so excited, and it melts my heart🥰🥰. Hope everyone likes this!
"Did you take an extra water bottle? An extra shirt? Oh, and are you taking your gumboots? "
"Yes. Yes. And I don't need the gumboots, Charlie! We're not going to Dartmoor."
Today was like any other day in Madeline and Charlie's household. Chaotic, rushed, messy and homely. After a long while, Madeline received a new mission abroad. Needless to say, Madeline excitedly accepted the offer and took Harry, Ron and Edward on her team. Charlie was happy that Madeline was so excited about her mission and helped her by staying up nights with her and keeping Aro away from her work files ( The last time he had been near those, Madeline had to delay the entire mission and redo every single document, because someone thought eating the paper and sneezing fire at the rest was a good thing).
Today Madeline was going to meet her team and head for New York. Charlie had been busy doing a last-minute check through Madeline's luggage. But Charlie was only slightly worried for her (which was his way of saying he was Significantly worried). After all, l the wizarding world wasn't as safe as it had been once. While things were better than during the war, crime was still widespread. Many of the previous death eaters had escaped and wanted to gather power.
The entire ministry had been busy trying to arrest these stray death-eaters, but so far, they had had very little luck. So the ministry decided to investigate further away from England, hence the search in North America had been proposed.
After a final check, Madeline was ready to leave. She petted Aro, who had been sneaking around the living room all this time, although he had his own pen in Charlie's sanctuary outside. "I'll be back soon Aro, lovey," she murmured with a smile and the dragon, satisfied with the affection, skipped off through the open door.
"Looks like I better be off now," Madeline said to Charlie, a hint of sadness in her voice. Charlie brought her into his arms and hugged her tightly as Madeline kissed his lips deeply. For a moment, they both stood in each other's embrace, not wanting to let go. But Madeline reluctantly pulled away.
"Be safe there dragostea mea. And don't forget to make those bloody death eaters regret everything they did," Charlie joked, making Madeline laugh as she shouldered her bag. But before she could walk out, Charlie grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him, pecking her lips one last time with a grin.
"I'll take that as a request to send letters daily?" Madeline teased with a giggle.
"Please do," Charlie grinned and let go of his wife with a smile, albeit unwillingly. Madeline then quickly put on her shoes and bid farewell to her husband before leaving their home. But when she took a quick look at her watch, she dashed to catch the portkey which she hopefully didn't miss.
---
For a second, there was utter silence. But then, all that could be heard amongst the shadows of the tall birches and pines were sounds of spells being shot violently at each other. Hexes clashed midway as Aurors and death eaters tried to defeat the other. Although the Aurors were outnumbered, they weren't proving easy for the death eaters to defeat.
"Harry! Behind you!" Madeline shouted a warning at Harry, who whirled around just in time to deflect a spell being shot by a death eater.
Madeline shot Bombarda Maxima at another one of the death eaters, who fell from the slope of the hilly forest along with two more of their cronies. Madeline backed up against a tree when she saw the coast was clear and sat down at the base of it. She wiped the blood that had trickled down her nose and let out a shaky breath. For a moment she observed the fight between the boys and the rest of the Death eaters when suddenly she heard a loud growl.
Her brows furrowed as she looked to the north of the forest from where the sound was heard. But she didn't get another chance to listen to it as she felt a massive blow against her and fell to the forest floor.
"Madeline! You alright?" Edward asked with concern and helped his senior up on her feet.
"I'm fine, don't worry," Madeline weakly said as she tried to regain her footing, "let's finish these blokes, so we can get this over with."
Edward firmly nodded and blasted a spell at a group of death eaters who were approaching them. He then dashed to Ron and Harry who were being surrounded by the remaining death eaters.
"This fight is getting tedious," Madeline thought to herself. She looked around and saw they were surrounded by the death eaters, despite the innumerable times they had defeated them. Suddenly, an idea struck her mind.
"Harry! Give me your wand!" Madeline yelled at Harry.
Harry flung his wand towards her, which Madeline caught in her hand and turned to face the looming shadows of people encircling her and the others. With two wands in her hands, each pointing towards the enemy, Madeline cast Bombarda, blinding the surrounding grove in orange rays.
It took a moment for the light to recced, but eventually, it did, and everyone could finally look around. Harry, Ron and Edward looked around and were astounded when they saw all the death eaters lying on the charred forest floor, groaning weakly in pain.
"That was bloody amazing!" Ron told Madeline, still a little awestruck.
"Well, I don't usually do this, but looks like it still works," Madeline shrugged and tossed Harry his wand, "Let's call in some support from the MACUSA."
It took them a while to contact the MACUSA, but eventually, help was reached. The team took a few minutes to round up the death eaters before they left for the headquarters in New York, leaving Madeline, Harry, Ron and Edward in the half-charred grove.
The walk back to their campsite was quiet and boring. Madeline was busy observing the lofty trees surrounding the camp while the guys walked ahead as they chatted about the mission review they would have to write later.
As Madeline strolled along the winding path, she abruptly halted and turned her attention towards the bushes nearby. She had picked up on a faint, quivering sound emanating from somewhere in the vicinity and slowly tiptoed towards it. She looked once towards the guys and found them strolling ahead, probably having forgotten her. So she moved aside the dense green foliage, and the scene she saw wasn't something she had expected.
A beautiful Antipodean Opaleye rested by her nest, which held three stunning pearly eggs. The sun's rays made her white scales shimmer brilliantly. She was snoring peacefully, entirely unaware of Madeline's presence. That is until Madeline stepped closer towards the nest and accidentally stepped on a branch.
The mother dragon's sensitive ears detected the quiet snap of the branch, and she woke up. She lifted her head and saw Madeline standing motionless near the nest with her rainbow eyes.
Seconds passed as Madeline and the dragon kept still and stared at each other. Madeline was no dragonologist, but she knew that if she kept stationary long enough, the dragon would perceive her as unthreatening and go back to sleep. Maybe she would let her pet her. But this Antipodean Opaleye clearly didn't trust her and kept on staring.
Madeline eventually gave up and stepped back, raising her hands to indicate to the dragon that she posed no threat. The great creature narrowed its eyes for a moment, but she quickly turned her attention to the nest. One of the pearly white eggs was shaking. Suddenly there was the sound of cracking. The mother quickly got up as Madeline too tiptoed closer to get a look.
Madeline witnessed a miraculous event as cracks appeared on the egg, then multiplied until the shell finally shattered, revealing a precious baby dragon. Despite spending nearly a decade at the Romanian sanctuary, Madeline had never witnessed a dragon egg hatching before. She was filled with awe and wonder at the sight. Soon after, the other eggs started to shake as well and the mother dragon snorted with excitement, whilst nudging the first little one out of its shell.
Without delay, Madeline dashed outside to search for the guys. Luckily, they had already realized she was missing and were on the lookout for her. When Madeline emerged from the bushes, Harry spotted her and signalled the others to join her.
"Thank goodness we found you, Madie. We thought one of the bloody death eaters might've kidnapped you," Ron said.
"Guys! I found something really cool! You've got to see it, but be extra quiet," Madeline said in one breath, quickly pulling Harry, Ron and Edward to the bush.
Before going through the foliage, she put a finger against her lips and walked through the leaves. The boys shared a look of confusion before Harry shrugged and followed Madeline along with Edward and Ron behind him.
Their jaws dropped in amazement as they gazed upon the scene before them. The mother dragon was lovingly attending to her newly hatched babies, with the third and final egg still nestled in the nest, yet to hatch. Madeline was crouched beside the two dragonlings as they waddled around. The dragon was still icy towards her but seemed to understand that she meant no harm.
But the second the boys tried to step forward, the dragon growled, her vivid irises darkening with anger. Lifting her head, she bellowed so loudly that all the guys stumbled back. Madeline quickly moved to caress the dragon, but she was still heaving with rage. One guest was fine, but 4 was an unwelcome party for her.
"Woah, girl! Easy, please, easy," Madeline gently stroked the dragon's scaly snout. The dragon initially gave Madeline a suspicious look but eventually appeared to calm down after she attempted to comfort it. She signalled the boys to come closer, and they tiptoed up to the dragon.
"Now, girl, it's alright. They're not going to hurt you. They're here to help you," Madeline whispered to the dragon. The dragon looked at the three men, who were standing as still as sticks. Then she laid down her head and looked at her dragonlings instead. The buys then let out a sigh of relief
"Blimey, Madeline! And here I thought we were going to be roasted like Mum's Christmas turkey!" Ron exclaimed, making the others chuckle.
"I still can't believe you found an actual antipodean opaleye here! Shouldn't they be New Zealand?" Harry said while walking toward the nest and egg with Edward.
"I'm not sure. But Whatever it is, we've got to get them to a safer place. With the babies, it's not safe here, nor is this climate suitable for them," Madeline said with concern.
"But where can we take them, there's no Australian dragon sanctuary," Edward pointed out.
"I might have an idea-
A loud crack was heard, and everyone turned their attention towards the remaining egg. There were a few cracks on it, and everyone waited with bated breath for the last little one to hatch. This little one certainly took its sweet time, slowly chipping away at the shell. Eventually, it made a small hole in the top of the egg and poked its head out. Everyone awed at the little guy who attempted to wriggle free but failed miserably. Edward picked cracked the remaining eggshell and took out the baby, handing him to his mother who gurgled happily.
"Looks like a happy family then," Edward concluded with a smile and the others agreed with nods.
"Then let's get them back to a safe place," Madeline said as she contacted the Ministry of America and England.
---
"Hi, love! I'm so glad you're ba- WHAT IN MERLIN'S BEARD ARE YOU DOING WITH FOUR DRAGONS?!"
Madeline smiled sheepishly and said, "Surprise...?"
Charlie couldn't stop gawking at the sight in front of him. In front of him stood a magnificent Antipodean Opaleye, accompanied by three adorable babies.
"What, How, why, when?" Charlie asked with excitement and confusion on his face.
"Madeline found this mama and her nest in the forest where we were rounding up the death eaters. We couldn't leave them there, and so we brought them here," Harry said while trying to keep one of the babies from running away.
"And I would say that it's a bloody brilliant idea mate," Ron said, smiling proudly. He too had a baby dragon in his arms, although this one was asleep.
"Oh, I don't need you to convince me. I'm just shocked, is all," Charlie said with a smile and walked to the Mama dragon. She seemed uncertain and started to fidget and growl. But Charlie's careful steps and soft voice worked wonders on her and within seconds she grew fond of him.
"How about you guys go and sit in the living room, we both can take the little ones and Mama to the sanctuary," Madeline suggested. The guys nodded and let the three little ones follow their mama. Madeline walked behind them, making sure none of them would get lost.
Charlie and Madeline closed the gates to the grove enclosure where the dragons would reside. Madeline was fond of the little dragons and kept playing with them, while Charlie had a constant smile on his face that made his cheeks hurt. He had been searching for an additional dragon to join the two already present in the sanctuary. The sight of the previously empty sanctuary now housing dragons filled him with excitement and joy. It made his heart beat with renewed life and his eyes sparkle with delight. This unexpected surprise was truly the best he could have hoped for.

Writeblr Introduction
Hey hi hello, I’m Ela, Ela Maxima or Ela Bambust (my real name isn’t a secret). I’m a refugee from twitter, though I was technically on twitter ten years ago. The passwords to those accounts have been lost, like tears in rain.
I’m a writer of queer and trans fiction, often with a very heavy emphasis on affirmation, leaving “queer suffering” narratives for others to tell. I’m here for the trans superheroes, the lesbian witches and nonbinary monsterfuckers. I try to keep the genres in which I write broad, because I like to pretend that it keeps me sharp or something, so I’ve written stuff from children’s picture books and YA novels to explicit erotica and hardcore body horror.
Other than that: I’m a European national, spent some time in the US, I use she/they if you know me and she/her if I don’t, I currently live with two clingy cats, my biggest literary influences are <modem dialup noise>* and I’m a sucker for Food, both in practice and in concept. Oh, and I’ve written 18 novels and novellas, which I’m all gradually getting published to amazon.
I’d like to try to get to know writing tumblr a bit, see what’s up, and then we can go from there!
Current WIPs
On Verdant Wings: Part two of the commissioned Verdant trilogy and sequel to Through Verdant Mirrors, Wings is the story of an orphaned “boy” become princess become queen. In the five years since she’s ascended the throne, Vera has become nigh obsessed with magic and the idea of finding others, those trapped in the wrong bodies, like her. The fact that there is a nymph living in her head who can do actual magic makes this a lot more manageable. But when she and her lovely husband Clarus go on a political visit to the neighbouring nation of Raasland, things start going spectacularly wrong. This one has a dragon in it.
Penumbra Redshift: Also a sequel (and also about someone with a creature in their head. It’s a running theme), Redshift is the sequel to Penumbra. In the first one, the Symbiote Penumbra (Penny to their friends) bonded with the incredibly depressed Maxine Powers, gradually teaching her that asking for help is allowed. It was an examination of depression and self-worth that just happened to star a transgender superhero. Redshift, then, is a spin-off featuring a new protagonist (Eric McCarthy) and a new Symbiote, Amaranth (Amy, of course). Together they will discover the meaning of antifascist action through the power of friendship and rioting.
Flipping Out: 6 kids all grow up together in Fuckoff Nowhere, Who Cares, all trapped in their own way. When one day they find a coin that lets them turn into anyone they can think of, the possibilities for hijinks and nonsense are endless. When fifteen years later they meet again at a swanky wedding, the six take a long hard look back at the road behind them, and the various adventures and betrayals that led them down that path.
Parasite: What if Penumbra (or Venom, if you like) was unrepentantly evil and cruel. An exploration of body horror and extreme discomfort. This one is not for publication nor is it really for a specific audience. This is the literary equivalent of picking at a mental scar and seeing what’s under there.
So yeah! Feel free to say hi, I’m basically always writing.
*I don’t cite my literary influences and heroes because people get extremely weird about those.

Variant Dungeon Wishlist
Ever since the introduction of Variant dungeons I’ve been thinking about which places we could visit in the future and which npcs could accompany the wol.
Personally there’s still a lot of places I wanna visit in the future and so many characters I wanna spend time with, so I made a little list of npcs with whom we could run future variant dungeons with:
Tumblr media
Lyse (& alternatively Raubahn)
I wanna see more of Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo. It is my favorite place in all of Eorzea and Ala Mhigo always gets shafted by the devs and fandom. Because of that I’m itching to learn more lore and this type of content would be the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Because of my wol’s lore I’ve taken a great interest in the monk job lore and the Fist of Rhalgr, so if there’s an aspect of Ala Mhigan culture I’d choose for a Variant Dungeon it’d be monk lore. Though because I feel Ala Mhigo got the shorter end of the stick I’d take anything. I’m also up for more Lyse lore and maybe M’naago makes an appearance in the notes?
Kan-E-Senna
The sole reason why I want to run a Variant Dungeon with Kan-E-Senna is because this could be another opportunity to learn more about Gelmorra. Gelmorra was a focus in FFXIV 1.0 with its various locations (including unfinished dungeons!) but has been shafted in favor for Allag since 2.0.
The only times we get to see parts of Gelmorra are during Tam-Tara (which was about the Lambs of Dalamud), Toto-Rak and the Palace of the Dead. None of these instances focus on the culture of Gelmorra and the details as to how the Duskwight Elezen and Wildwood Elezen started to live apart.
And since Duskwight Elezen are extremely underrepresented, it is only fair to at least give their home another try. Kan-E-Senna is not an Elezen and theoretically be a neutral party in this conflict. That is if the dev team ever wants to write about Gridania’s political problems…
(Besides, I like Kan-E-Senna, she needs more screentime in this game…)
Aymeric
Honestly I just want more Aymeric screentime, no matter how. I don’t mind either staying in Coerthas or Dravania but if we do, I’d want to explore new aspects of these places. I’ve personally have my fill of the thousand year war against the dragons and I’d rather see something new. And a new private side of our lord commander! Possibly a look at his cat? Who knows!
Maxima
I wanna learn more about Garlemald, especially the Garlemald before Zenos and Fandaniel destroyed everything there. Alternatively I’d love to learn more about the Garleans before the founding of the Garlean Empire. The Garlean race has lived in Goug as well as Corvus, I’d love to learn more about their lifestyles from way back then.
But personally I’m also a huge sucker for Maxima and I wanna spend more time with him…
Yugiri
I wanna see more Far Eastern place and I love Yugiri! And I wanna visit a ninja village! Yugiri is a ninja, so she’d be the perfect candidate. I want to learn more about the ninja of Doma and frankly this is just me hoping to see Oboro, Tsubame and Karasu again.
Alternatively we could learn more about Sui-no-Sato again? The lives of the people there are extremely fascinating to me and Shisui was such a stunning dungeon. Wouldn’t mind seeing something like this again.
On a last note… It seems only people who only appeared in the msq are qualified for variant dungeons but I’d also would love to see other characters too like job quest characters or characters you meet during raid content like Mikoto from the Ivalice raids and Bozja but for that she has to appear in the main story first, it seems… that makes sense but my heart is still a little broken lol

@praeludio / @strmfury . “But it is one thing to read about dragons and another to meet them.” ( young stannis @ young maxima LET'S GO ) . ursula k. le guin . accepting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maxima stays quiet at the thought that Stannis had aired between them. Her dark eyes on the many letters on the book between them. Her teeth sink into her lower lip and while she had been leaning on her knees to be able to look over the table she decides instead to sit back down on the chair. Were it not for the dress, it would be extremely obvious how much bigger that chair was when compared to the young girl that looked over at her brother.
She didn't want to say it and that much was obvious on her very small face. The way that the dark eyes met Stannis'. In another life, she could have been a true Baratheon: dark eyes and a strong bite that was kept closed by the teeth sinking on her lower lip until blood was tasted.
"Sounds scary," she says softly, cooly and in a full exhale. Defensive, one might call it. She shifts in her skirts, pushing the orange fabrics and flattening over her legs, watching how the soft, beautiful fabric fell to the side of the chair “Can you meet a dragon? Wouldn't they just eat you?"
She thought they would. Like hungry seagulls looking at a sea of distant fish.
"Do you think that the Targaryens were ever eaten by one?" she asked and gives a small smile. In a way, the thought terrified her, especially in the way that most stories spoke about them and their relationship with dragons. In another one, however, she would have found it funny "The stories say they rode them into battle, but I know that horses have killed their riders before." she straightens her back, reaching closer to the table. knowledgeable of what she said, after all, she had seen a man get trampled by a horse once after falling from it "It's not even that they wanted to, but they are just animals."

wip-the last wish
“It’s his kit that’s the problem.”  Illaenne said.  “Come look!  You’re more traveled than all of us put together here, have you ever seen armor that looks like this?”  Augustine glanced at the table, heading over to it.  A cuirass was propped up on its surface, the silver a dull sheen under the lantern-lights.  The metal looked as if it’d seen extremely hard usage, but had been well maintained.  Curious, Augustine removed his gauntlets.
“I remember thinking when I grabbed him that his armor was light.”  He said, reaching out to touch the cuirass’ surface.  “Too light.  Almost like…”
“Drachen mail?”  Illeanne supplied.  Augustine blinked in surprise, and nodded to the dragoon.  However, Illeanne’s face was grim.  Augustine glanced at her, then the armor.  Then he looked at Illeanne again, a suspicion flaring to life in his thoughts.
“Wait.  Is…it?”
“Lilith pitched a fit.”  Illeanne said, naming her inner dragon.  “The leather for the back and under the chestplate?  That’s dragonskin.  The metal was harder to sense, but there’s draconic magic in it.  Bloodforged, more than likely.”  Augustine looked back at the table, staring at the chestpiece with fresh curiosity.  Next to it were the set’s greaves and gauntlets, along with a folded white tunic and pants with green trim, both stained and ripped from dirt and combat.  Augustine turned his attention to the tunic, picking it up and rubbing the fabric inbetween his fingers.
“This is silk.”  He said aloud.  “And the design…the bottom of it looks a little bit like a shirt Riven has.”
“Do you understand how little that narrows it down, considering what I have heard of the Lady Fortemps’ wardrobe?”  Lucia asked wryly.  Maxima coughed, suppressing a chuckle, and Illeanne snorted.  Augustine grinned, setting down the tunic.  He looked back at the cuirass, fingers grazing the black icon in the center.  It looked vaguely draconic…
