Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, passed away yesterday. He wasn't a manga artist of my generation, but he was a very special person to me, someone who dreams of becoming a cartoonist. Rest In Peace, Akira Toriyama

Dragon Ball Z was my first anime. I was a kid when it aired on Toonami back in the day. My dad got me & my brother into the show and that was it. I’ve been a fan ever since. I owned the action figures, watched every saga with anticipation and had all the movies.

DBZ was one of the first shows to give me that spark of creativity in storytelling. As a kid I'd try making something as big & bombastic as DBZ. I used to be into action shows & a desire to make my own. I used to watch the series over & over again. Still one of my all time faves...

I wouldn't be who I am today if DBZ hadn't existed. I'll forever cherish the love & joy DBZ has brought me and continues to bring me to this very day.
