When I was a kid we had these BIG flat floor pillows and when I was cranky or too hyper my mum would make an “Irian sandwich” by putting me in between two pillows and pressing down. Which, now that I think about it, is exactly what I now do with @mayaminamoto​ or with my heavy blanket to help with sensory overload. One more anecdote to present at my diagnosis...

1. Are you named after anyone?

Nope. I came by my name in the dumbest possible way. My mother wanted Dawn or Joy or Crystal; my father was set on Nadine. My mother hated Nadine and just kept throwing names at him. He said no to everything but the name on my birth certificate today, which got “Maybe”. So my name is effectively a placeholder because they couldn’t come up with anything better.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Couldn’t give you an exact date but probably while I was watching something sad.

3. Do you have kids?

Nope

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I’m not sure about a lot, but in very brief bursts, and usually when writing. Generally just the whole thing where I say something like, “Oh, wonderful” when something goes wrong.

6. What's your eye color?

Blue

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

Honestly depends on my mood, but both is good. I like the scary things but it’s always good to see a triumph at the end.

8. Any special talents?

I’ll have to go by what others say. The list goes, writing, cooking, gardening, perfumery, DMing, and what my friends and I call Google-fu (I have a knack for using just the right search terms to find whatever information I need / crave at any given time)

9. Where were you born?

Montreal, QC, Canada

10. What are your hobbies?

Oh lord. Um. D&D, video games, reading, writing, candy making, perfumery / soap making, gardening, resin casting. Also I have an Amazon list titled “potential hobbies” which includes a “teach yourself to pick locks” kit and an electric keyboard. I like hobbies.

11. Have you any pets?

Not at the moment, no. When things are a little more settled, I’m thinking rats.

12. What sports do you play/have played?  

Was never much into sports, except for watching the hockey.

5′4″-ish? I think?

14. Favorite subject in school?

English and Theatre

15. Dream job?

Eeeeeeh ... mixing scents and soaps for someplace like Lush, probably. I was thinking “professional DM” but that would run the risk of taking the fun out of it.

Ok but... why would your internal decorations effect property value for any house other than... your house? I'm sorry, I'm just deeply confused, how does it lower the value for the neighbourhood? Is it just an exaggeration? Do HOA people walk around and look into people's windows to check if they're Properly Decorated?

It’s got exactly jack and zero shit to do with anyone, this person was just a jack ass looking for something to be angry about, and me painting my beige walls candy floss pink set off their conservative HOA-loving sensibilities.

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm very new to this. I've seen a whole bunch of cross-stitch sets for towels or tablecloths and I can't help but wonder - what about the left side? Is there some trick I'm unaware of or are people just making one side pretty and pretending the left side doesn't exist? Am I missing something obvious?

Some people double up on the terry cloth, but yeah, for the most part. A lot like knitted shawls where they only really look good one way.

Yes! A friend was lending me the books so I’ve only read maybe 1-3 volumes. It is very good but not my favourite.
