SO I think the charts mostly speak for themselves? I definitely don't have the energy to go into *every* individual person nor do I necessarily have much to say about some of em, so I'll only go into detail about ones I have particularly strong thoughts about/ things to say. But feel free to ask specifics! Can't guarantee I'll be able to answer but still. ANYWAY SO

I wanna start by saying I am the least confident in my aspec headcanons? They're extremely flexible moment to moment and I'm not attached to many of them. I could see almost anyone almost anywhere with only a handful of exceptions, honestly

I almost put a "cis but they've still got something goin on" category on the gender one,,, I woulda put the antags, Yasuhiro, Sonia, Angie, Gonta, maybe a couple others in there,,,

Not really represented here but im a big fan of genderfluid imposter and byakuya

All the protags are trans, and also they're all bi except komaru, fun fact 👍

Literally all of em are queer in some fashion, as you can tell from the fact that I forgot to put a "straight" category on the chart...

Anyway some in particular that im fond of that ive not really talked about before:

I love love love hc Aoi as a nonbinary lesbian. Its like,, lowkey projection,,, but I think its supported by the text. She's got some hang-ups surrounding womanhood and being a woman and how that relates to her relationship with men (im thinking specifically of her last fte). I think it would be a nice resolution to that struggle for her to shed the expectations she feels entirely and embrace who she is, even if its different from what she feels like she's "supposed" to be. Idk I think its a natural conclusion

I enjoy nonbinary chihiro for a similar reason. I think it would also be a natural conclusion to her struggles with gender and what masculinity and femininity means to them

And somewhat related I hc sakura as a cis lesbian also bc of her struggles with femininity?? I like the idea of her conclusion being to embrace her femininity wholeheartedly. She enjoys being feminine but has a hard time reconciling that with her strength. Id like to see her enjoy both of those things about her

alright. bugsnax charas if they were in a fantasy setting. (hint : theyre the same but can set themselves on fire easier) (also im going on dnd lite ideas since i technically never played and the only fantasy games ive playwed was wow as a kid and dragon age)

journalist character, from the vague vibes i get from them in canon and from fanon... rogue. being sneaky and having lockpicking skills would be good for journalism.

I know she’d be an adventuring/scholar-y type obv but idk what class she would be specifically? or if she would be magic but im leaning towards no tbh Chandlo could have a sword or something maybe but he isn’t doing anything new he’s still just building houses and being a boyed friend Snorpy. magic engineer. menace to society #1. technically probably the same as well but now he can set you on fire. he will set you on fire, probably Floofty magic scientist of course. initially i was like “magic scientist would be silly” but then I remembered medusa from soul eater and i was like ohh ya that would make sense. you can be a scientist and a mage maybe Shelda has magic im not sure. I think the idea of her being a fake wizard would be a bit funny, though.

i think it’d be cool to incorporate legends into pkau somehow, but not quite sure how. maybe as semi-canon timeline weirdness? pokeau is rapidly approaching it’s endgame arc so i figure maybe thinking stuff that happens after that is a good idea

idk if i explained my pretense for legends in pokeau here tho, so i will

takes place ~2,500 years ago (like ~450 years after the formations of most regions), as explorers in the eastern continent figured out how to effectively cross the harsh mountain border that separates sinnoh/hisui from kanto and johto.

i’m kinda iffy on the whole ‘oh this land is totally unexplored’ trope, but given it’s relatively early in the timeline (which starts at roughly 3,000 YA) i might as well go with it? as it would be the first major migration to sinnoh in the world’s history. of course there’d likely be some who already crossed the mountains, but they’d be pretty scattered given the size of sinnoh/hisui and the difficulty of the mountain crossing

pokeau sinnoh kinda leans heavily into more russian inspo, but i can just say the fashion choices are because the majority of those who migrated to sinnoh/hisui are from johto/kanto (which was one region at the time, tojoh)

ANYWAYS. when legends was first revealed i was thinking earlier and im like ‘wait ridley can control time and was the protag of the modern sinnoh arc. hmm’

so tldr im thinking ridley gets really upset and wants to ‘turn things back’ i.e. redo their childhood but fucks it up and goes back too far. so they end up getting stuck in sinnoh/hisui.

im thinking that they cause a strange ripple though, causing doppelgangers of those they’ve met to also get sent back - just with no memory and a different identity (definitely seeing cylene probably caused them to majorly panic)

ridley didn’t actually fuck up the normal timeline though - just fractured it, so ridley is essentially stuck in a copy of history while the ‘normal’ world continues with them missing

i don’t wanna account for stuff before i know the plot, but i figure it’d be safe to say arceus plays a role. early assessment is, ridley blames it on arceus for giving them these powers in the first place and decides to kick their ass and demand them to take them back home.

it’s kinda funny tho bc if this is a post-endgame thing, arceus would have regained their emotions and personality, but still would’ve watched just kinda like 😬

i think time travel shenanigans would just fit, considering the player has a phone (as it would make sense for ridley’s phone to come with them if it was like, in their pocket)

Bristlefrost’s crush continues to feel unnatural to me. It’s like she’s grasping at straws romanticizing the most generic things.....wow....I love how ur just so...bare minimum competent....being polite to the loner we came all this way to ask for help like any somewhat reasonable person would....How admirable...I love the way you just *clenches fist* exhibit some basic traits of loyalty and skill that literally every warrior has (I s2g I’m this close to head canon-ing Bristle as a clueless aromantic who doesn't understand what romance is actually suppose to feel like so she just looks at feelings of low-bar admiration and assumes ���oh I guess this is that “romantic attraction” everyone’s always talking about? guess I must be in love???” because both her crushes have felt out of nowhere and like. Idk fake/forced sounding like she’s just telling me that that she’s In Love Now while I continue to not actually feel it at all from her end. I know it’s just that I hate the way Erin’s write female characters in love but this head-canon makes me laugh)

Got scared because I thought they were going to villainize Spotfur for not wanting kits for a minute, but also excited at the concept of maybe exploring a female character that doesn’t want to be a mother, but it turns out she was just pulling a Sparkpelt and actually DID want the kits all along and was only hesitant because she’s sad. Shrug oh well.  (the only female character in warriors that was distinctly upset about pregnancy and motherhood was Lizardstripe and as we all know she was eeeeeevil and abusive and “overly ambitious” because why else would you not come around to being happy about motherhood?? YES I’M STILL SALTY ABOUT YELLOWFANG’S SECRET, BAD BOOK)  Whatever it’s fine so long as Spot doesn’t lose her rebel leader spirit forever and default to “soft mom” personality for the rest of her life, I gotta have hope because I actually like Bristle and Spot’s current relationship. Also I am actually very grateful they never made Bristle resentful at Spot for getting with her crush, as lots of middle grade/YA media has a very bad habit of demonizing female romantic “competition” and its super gross, so I rly do like that Bristlefrost is so protective and caring towards her instead. )

This series is trying to tell me that Rootspring is actually Big but I refuse to accept that. he has dumb scrawny bitch energy and we all know it

End of the book: *LAUGHING NERVOUSLY* WHAT THE FUCK??? (I thought he was just gonna kill Squirrelflight right there holy shit can you imagine the RIOTS that would ensue in the wake of all this Squirrel/Bramble discourse I was so scared for a second.  

 But it’s fine, she just....went to super hell instead......Warriors has come so far lmao WHAT IS HAPPENING

Final Notes:

*On Mothwing, I don’t think her behavior struck me as “CHARACTER BUTCHERING” as much as it did for other people? I mean.....Warriors fans will say that literally any time a character does ANYTHING less then perfectly nice I think her actions just seemed that much harsher because we are reading from Shadowsight’s POV, and Shadowsight is taking everything 10x more personally right now (understandably so, but Mothwing isn’t inside his head) she wasn’t trying to hurt him. Also... like... Shadowsight DID get his name too early. It’s not Mothwing’s job to put his feelings above everything else, she’s not even his mentor, Puddleshine on the other hand, as his main mentor, I don’t understand what his deal is ignoring Shadowsight, that’s not how you help an apprentice but I suppose I chalk many of his mistakes up to also not being the most experienced medicine cat (he barely even had his own mentor.) Maybe he’s distant because he feels guilty and actually blames himself for not guiding Shadowsight better?? the two of them haven’t communicated about it yet so idk

 any way I give Mothwing a pass to be a little short tempered right now as a cat who has had her abilities periodically questioned all her life no matter how hard she works or how much experience she has, just because she doesn’t vibe with the spiritual cult side of the clans, I can understand why she’s a bit defensive of being questioned and frustrated watching so much hurt happen Yet Again due to reliance on StarClan visions over common sense, and I for one still stan her for slandering StarClan and refusing to accept Mistystar’s bullshit banishing like everyone else. Sometimes a character is at the end of their rope and can’t manage to be 100% nice 24/7 and that’s maybe not inherently bad writing? idk just my hot take. At a certain point we all gotta reckon with the fact that our perception of most popular supporting characters in heavily colored by fanon and we can’t always get mad at the authors for not adhering to it

*The sisters magic shit is my fav worldbuilding warriors has had in AGES, I love the way it’s described and it actually feels like it adds something to this world. I love this horror imagery with the ghosts, very excited for that. 

*still won’t be thrilled if Ashfur is working alone, because his motive doesn’t make sense right now. I mean the trying to get Squilf thing, sure, whatever, but the “I will make everyone pay for what they did to me”???? cause like?? Who??? they didn’t do anything to him?? Ashfur’s grievance was very specifically JUST Squilf. He has no other cause for revenge, he had no other beef or complaints about the clans to my knowledge? The cat that killed him is dead, and she’s like, the only other one that I could see as having “wronged” him?? I guess he also didn’t like Firestar much according to Graystripe’s Vow (and on account of how willing he was to kill him w/ Hawkfrost) but Firestar is ALSO dead. I don’t understand his angle. Will have to see last 2 books to judge i suppose.

*All in all I am interested to see where this is going!! but also the pacing as I feared is becoming a major issue. It’s better then ending the main conflict on book 3 like Vision of Shadows did, but omg. Hardly anything happened in all these pages. I realized I was over half way through and nothing about the situation had actually CHANGED or advanced at all in all that time. Similar to the past 2 books which I believe could have been combined, this plot felt like it should have been the first half of a book. Discussing whether or not to kill the imposter isn’t much of a standalone plot, it’s just the set up to a plot. Finding the sisters didn’t need to be a whole long thing, the debates about the Imposters fate didn’t need to be repeated 10 times, all those chapters illustrating that “Shadowsight is sad” were also drawn out, repetitive, and interchangeable, we probably only needed 2 or so chapters showing his struggles to get the necessary information across. It felt like a lot of padding, it was really slow and I did a lot of skimming. I am still very interested in the overarching plot and mystery behind the ghosts so that kept me reading but man this “will they won’t they kill him” plot did not justify it’s own whole book. Alas this is a persisting issue that will never be resolved while they continue to force 6 books into 1 series that doesn’t need 6 books. I’m sure the writers are doing the best they can with these unfortunate constraints but still, it’s a wonder this slow padding isn’t more of a detriment to their younger readers that the books are supposed to be marketed to.

this session was so long but so fucking hectic what the fuck

im going to try and slim it down to its bare essentials rather than go on a full rant because im pretty sure i want to make a post later on about vriska’s characterisation (not anything about me liking her/disliking her, just an analyse on her life really, so it wont be too bias because thats not the point of an analysis. i also want to do one on aradia, been meaning to for a while... hmm... damn i havent done much analogies lately, and i THINK the last long post on a character i made was about davesprite??? so its been a fucking while. that being said, ill leave a lot of details out for this end of session notes so i dont just repeat myself later on. rather will keep to plot points here and then make character points in another)

first we had a page or two where aradia confided in nepeta about her being dead which means nepeta is the only one to know this revelation. im pretty sure aradia confided because there was no other way around it, since nepeta was her server player, so it was inevitable. either way, aradia still put her trust in nep, which means, if you think about it, nobody else knows and nobody else ever will. and considering aradia asked nep to keep it a secret, it probably wont get explored by others until MAYBE later on, whenever its plot relevant, so everyone will be in the dark about it for a while which ill have to remember for future dialogue and scenes with aradia in them

then we met vriska

which, yes, is a meme. i may not have been on a lot of fandom platforms, but you cant escape some of the stuff that goes around the internet. even if you dont know undertale, im pretty sure you know of sans. or komaeda if you have/havent seen danganronpa. its just.. the memes, ya know? ive heard from many sources of the “vriska did nothing wrong” quote (even through mbmbam which??? WHAT) but since i didnt even know what it meant, i never explored it so then i never knew it was a homestuck thing. imagine my surprise...... i think even at the time, i wouldnt have known what homestuck was either honestly so it wouldnt even matter. i only recently learned about the fandom.... uhh, maybe half a year ago??? yeah, august, so my knowledge was slim but vriska is a thing ive heard before, which still shocks me

anyways back to her

so her intro was something, we pretty much found out she likes DnD (a FANATIC in fact) and feeds her lusus the flesh of living trolls. which is fucked up. but i wont get too much into detail about that until i make a post about her life on alternia and the consequences of such. or maybe just alternia in general...?? or *both* heheheh but i feel i need more information before i go off on a tangent about that

then we met??? white text dude?? who is a major asshole but an asshole with insults that hURted, to think i felt bad for VRISKA when that happened. woah.

i said before, but... karkat, he cant really hit deep because his insults are just HIM and his way to express himself. like some people find it natural to just go “FUCK YOU” to show emphasis on a point, and thats just karkats way. he may do it so aggressively that it takes you a second to realize what he said, but usually i dont take anything to heart whenever he spurts out some insults. ive progressed to the point where whatever he says, is just “karkat” and not him trying to be actively mean. rather, its now funny whenever he does say anything SOMEWHAT creative, dude has an imagination that goes on for miles

but vriska?? she IS trying to be a bully, you can tell. but i feel theres something much more to that. like shes trying to prove herself and her “blueblooded” demeanours or whatever the hierarchy is. she doesnt want to show emotions so she makes herself a barrier by being mean is what i can gather from her conversation with kanaya. im pretty sure youre not supposed to understand her until its pointed out and rather see her as an “antagonist” at first, but yeah, her insults are more pitiful than anything and i also cant take her too seriously. i may not like her as a person but her character is interesting because you cant always have the goodie two shoes as the protags. it doesnt diversify the characterisation so i like vriska as someone who makes the plot work and it becomes more interesting since you have someone that makes it harder for the main crew to progress. a happy-go-lucky adventure with no trouble and no turnabouts would be boring in a way. so having a character like vriska, or like this new white text guy, it makes you stop for a second and realize oh shit okay, here’s where shit CAN go wrong and WHY. and i do especially like it when these bastards of characters somehow have more depth than being the “bastard characters”. kinda humanizes them in a way. doesnt mean you have to LIKE them continuously, but theyre humans (trolls whatever) in the end and every person has their own story whether its for better or for worse

for example, i like her being placed into the story, along with white text, by how its all leading to this “accident” and is slowly showing us hints on what happened, but in the end, it wont be until later that we know the full story. even if it was in the past, it apparently is very vital to the plot and shapes how the characters act in the future, so important aspects like that are to look out for. and usually they only occur when theres been some trouble within friend dynamics. so without these bastard of characters, plot wouldnt grow AS strong and i often keep that in mind when i explore a story.

anyways, I HAD A POINT TO THIS: so vriska and karkat are characters who are yes, mean, but it seems to be their personality, and the way they either show emotions and convey feelings (karkat) or make a barrier so they DONT show emotions to produce vulnerability (vriska), white text guy seems to mostly be out to be an asshole. he told vriska she was useless to sum it up but im not too sure if this is one of those “first dialogue” to mould out a bias opinion before we even get to the character themselves, but judging by how vriska and karkat played out, he surely means something bad and i dont know how to explain it. but i cannot base anything off from one piece of dialogue. i dont even know what else to call him other than white text guy so...... ill just leave that out for now, until we finally get his introduction

though, i do wish to mention, and will expand on, im not wrong when i say karkat and vriska are similar but in different context. sorry if youre favourite is karkat and you dont like vriska, or vice versa, but uhhhh their introductions are so similar its uncanny and the way they’re portrayed is the same except one is more on crack about the meddling, while the other is angry about the meddling. similar to how it was with karkat, we were introduced to vriska talking with someone we knew (tavros) whom she obviously didnt like, so obviously, from her point of view, she wanted to be menacing. like how karkat was menacing to jade because she wouldnt listen to his point... he got angry, so he lashed out. but us, the readers, didnt know that. we thought “oh god its this asshole” until we made it further in the story and started to warm up to karkat. it may not be the same with vriska, she may be a bully regardless, but you cannot tell me we moulded a bias towards her character as we did when we first read karkat. theyre both truly mean to other people, maybe both for different reasons, but i do want to point out the similarities and not leave that out. im pretty sure andrew basically gave us a conversation that formed our opinion of a character right off the bat rather than go into depth of WHY they did it, and how they are naturally without the conditions of the game. which, you can also see with vriska when she conversed with kanaya. andrew started off with a character who only appears to speak once, and makes you judge them from first appearance alone, without any explanation as to why they said what they said and how they are with other characters, let says. so you assume they were simply a rude character. now look how karkat turned out. so im guessing in homestuck, the first impression should never be the opinion you stick with until MAYBE 5 more conversations with that character (each one different)

my opinion of equius kinda.. differs. which i should really put in place the “dont judge by first impression” rule, because at first i thought he was rude with, then i thought he was hhh okay, because i understood why he was being so protective over nepeta and her team placement, since the people she was going to play with WERE dangerous. but if you think about it, both sides will probably put you in danger. it just depends on which ones you confide in more to protect your back rather than those which would cause trouble on purpose, in my HONEST opinion. so equius was a little overdramatic on that part, but i got what he meant. he was on the blue team and he didnt want to leave nepeta alone without him on the red. but then this session happened. and he went back to being weird again because of the whole porn thing, especially being so open about it like dude chill youre 13. but the thing is, then i felt bad for him because hes basically touch starved. to say that he could break anything he touches, i doubt people would go up to him for hugs. in fear they would be crushed to death by a simple hug. so im guessing hes rather lonely and doesnt really know how to interact because of this. so i felt sad that he had to live a life where he needs to be careful of everything he touches so it doesnt break randomly. see? poor dude. but then things got weird. and im pretty sure hes a masochist. so my opinion on equius is a fucking cosine graph

which brings us to the final point:

gamzee and equius’ conversation

i dont even know.....like.........gamzee was unaware that equius was using him for his own power play roleplay, right? gamzee knew it was a roleplay but it had had some.. idk.... obvious sexual implications? and i bet gamzee didnt really know that? he thought they were only venting out through a simple roleplay and trying to get closer because he originally thought equius hated him, considering equius flat out said “i hate you” and gamzee went “you tell me everyday and im okay with that” so.. gamzee probably wanted only to get closer to equius so he helped out his little problem which.. thats so sweet but i feel bad he was coerced into something he didnt get, especially since he was innocent enough to go along without knowing equius’ true gain

anyways, equius was getting off with the hierarchy thing. considering he’s “lower” than gamzee, and gamzee is surprisingly ...high on the spectrum??? so equius wanted gamzee to boss him around, because it felt only natural to him since he’s the “inferior one” and gamzee is The Big Man. like i get that, but it was written in a way that was so uncomfortable, that i wish i didnt. equius is just a weird character... hes not BAD per say, but hes... hes something alright

but im really liking gamzee. the two things which struck me in that one conversation, was the “i dont get why we should dictate people by the colour of their blood, i just see people as people” piece of dialogue and “i cant go around pleasing just everything so its alright if you hate me”

thats... so good, idk. i really liked that. i also really liked when kanaya said “youre dangerous but dangerous people are needed and are important because it shapes you” like <33 my fucking heart

god homestuck may be a tad on the weird side with some of its characters but it surely knows how to create great lines of dialogue

this is just??? so good??? like first off they/them protagonist !! and it’s so !!!! like the first two chapters make you go huh? but once it get through that it becomes so interesting !!! it feels like you’re being told a story bc you are!!! and it’s so <333 like wowwwwww it’s just. great like the story is everything even though there’s no technical ‘plot’ like you think. also this one scene in the book with her seer…like uh. empress?? you got something you want to tell us?? 👁👁

overall id rate it 4/5 points taken off purely bc the writing style is everything i love it !! but it’s not quite memorable like certain lines don’t just stick to you after you read it like how six of crows did… yk?

listen this is. it’s a fun cute little read if you’re bored bc this was so nice i had to pause to squeal a bit a LOT like the mc is so !!!!! she’s fat and she’s not like insecure about it like she has her moments thats so normal but she’s confident and it’s just !!! she’s basically trying to be an idol and addresses the fat phobia in the kpop industry with a healthy smacking of white girl bashing (white girl obsessed with korean culture to be specific), asians gfs as background relationships, and complicated mother daughter relationships that aren’t just ‘omg i forgive you and then we love each other’ no the resolution between them is 100% realistic and i just :’) and then !!! and then bi4bi main couple!!! CANONLY!!!! THEYRE BOTH SAID THEYRE BI IN THE BOOK LIKE !!!! they’re both korean too like <3

it’s rated 3/5 bc the writing is juvenile at time (and ngl im fine with it!! the author has written children’s books with an asian protag so the whole YA thing is new to her and it’s rlly good for her foray into this genre honestly!!!!) and also the harry potter and bts references were -_- i know the bts was going to be a thing but the hp??? when the book was made in 2020??? like in this day and age??? no thank you keep that away. there are like uhh less than 10 so a blessing ig

5. finally, the lunar chronicles

this is a nice series !!!!!! the way all the male characters are side characters and each book surrounds the girl yeah <3 the third book is kind of :/ bc there’s a relationship with a 16 yr old and a 22-23? year old i think idk but basically she’s isolated and idolized him and he’s… idk it’s weird but if you just keep in mind that ajd try and ignore how that’s the driving factor for a lot of this it’s fine !!! the plot is nice !! but yeah the rest of them are <33333 and the plot is so !!!! each book is a sci-fi retelling of a fairytale and they all blend into each other seamlessly its just so !!!! the characters are everything as well i don’t care for like half of the men ensemble but the women. aaaaah beloveds 3/5 mainly bc it’s been SUCH a long time i don’t think i can accurately judge it so we’ll stick with a decent rating yk?

also! read heartless by the same author it’s like her retelling of how the queen of hearts became the queen of hearts it’s rlly good !!! cant for the love of me rmbr most of the plot nor can reread it bc it hurts but still. rlly good !!!! 4/5 definitely

My Thoughts Rewatching TGWDLM and Black Friday:

The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals: - in the first scene the same phone rings about 32/33 times wow (i counted) - when charlotte is talking about sam singing in the shower, let it out plays real quiet and it's cool - i’ve always wondered what emma was gonna say before join us and die, and to me it seemed like she was gonna talk about paul’s crush on her and maybe reject him (she was acting remorseful, like she was sorry for being about to hurt his feelings maybe), idk if anyone tweeted nick lang about this yet but i wanna know - emma seems to jinx herself every time she says "we made it" or along those lines, like in the helicopter she says "we got outta there!" and before inevitable she says "paul! we made it!" - fuck nora :)

Black Friday: - the sniggles deserve betterrrr also lauren sniggle <3 - mnfnmggghfht them <3 paulkinsss <3 - silent night playing while we enjoy paulkins - "oH SHIT A BABY" - emma has beanies shopping bags so she either still works there and brought snacks or she just went there with paul idk - paul like "it's christmas time in hatchetfield isn't that fun" and im having flashbacks - i love paul's awkwardness but emma, he's your boyfriend ok (ok? ok. ok.) - emma copying bae like - how does lauren turn into an entirely different person with emma and linda ik it's acting but I CAN'T ENVISION THEM TOGETHER AS THE SAME PERSON - if i think about videos and streams of lauren, it seems like emma's personality is kinda similar to lauren's own personality huh - i think this part with emma and paul is so funny not just cause them and their wonderful delivery but also cause the paulkins content is more condensed in smaller amounts of time since they aren't the protagonists anymore, so it's more funny at once, while tgwdlm is probably more funny in total but it's more spread out - i love emma’s adorable laugh snort thing when tom tells her about the surprise it's so lovable <3 - tom just getting in emma's face when he says "he was sledding. uhm heres some thoughts i have so far about the ygo manga if youd like to read them! i just got to the egyptian exhibit part but i havent read it yet

- i like anzu ! i liked tea too, despite the writers best efforts, but i do think she has just a little bit more agency and personality here. in the anime it definitely feels like shes mostly a friendship cheerleader, but in the manga her maturity, personality, and overall character shines more! i think anzu is really strong! i would say "bossy" but that sounds negative... shes like a leader i think. shes kind and responsible! its hard to illustrate but i really like anzu! i like her even more now that ive read some of the manga :)

- honda !!!!!!! tbh ive always had this sort of soft spot for tristan/honda. ive seen so many people forget to include him with the group but hes a good character! he seems a little mean at first maybe but hes a good friend to jou and he cares about everyone... he insists on yugi and anzu staying outside the club because he doesnt want them to "come to his level"... i think honda also has some dark history too, especially considering his and jou's friendship and their tough attitudes. maybe not to the extent of jou's, but honda definitely has more to him. i like him a lot and its nice whenever i get to see him in action rather than standing on the side lines!

- jou and yugi !!!! whether u see them platonic or romantic, they get so much time to shine together ! jou's cheesy little friendship declaration, all their little interactions, the times they save each other or stand up for eachother ! its just so... *clenches chest* ya know? they care so much about each other and its nice to see them both have the friend they needed...

- also im very easy to make cry but reading books usually doesnt do it... however that scene when yugi is defending joey and honda and he thinks to himself about how his wish was to make true friends... it makes me tear up thinking about it. the entire concept of yugi wishing to make friends and finally finding a group of people who unconditionally support him! who he can unconditionally support back! sigh...

- also when jou gets the puzzle back made me cry too... it just made me emotional im not sure why

- i think that having the "official" anime start so late into the series was a huge disservice to... really every character honestly. i guess i understand it from a few different perspectives, but not getting to see at least some of the backstory for everyone just... idk it takes away some of the best parts of yugioh. not to mention, the entire story is based so heavily on friendship and heart but we dont even get to see the protags become friends! they just start off like that and we have to pick up the pieces as we go... maybe ill try to think of a way they couldve included the beginning of jou and yugi's friendship in the anime...

#i have some thoughts but i have to find a way to make duel monsters integral to that theoretical first episode #what the first episode of the anime lacks in character development it makes up for in marketing #i want to keep that same spirit when thinking of a first episode #and i also want to make it slightly less. uhm. violent since thats how the anime seems #even the japanese version of the anime seems more tame

Ideas I've had for a story, in a small bulletpoint list (im very tired and adhd brain is going NUTS)

MC, 8 yrs at start of prologue, Diamond is a runaway mage, she was from a long long line of royalty

Her great(×6) grandfather used dark magic, and in a coup was executed and replaced by light magic users. Before he died, he cursed the castle saying that once the windows turn red the true heir of the throne would be revealed.

Because Diamond has already shown magic ability with shadow manipulation and dark magic, she is strictly inside her room without any windows. She manages to sneak out and while she's playing outside, she notices a singular window by her room, and its a bright red.

Her parents are trying to teach her light magic, hoping she'd forget how to manipulate shadows, but after any light spells attempted, she'd have burns on her hands and extreme fatigue, she knocked out for days after attempting to turn on lights all over the castle. Kinda like that game where you have to hit buttons that would light up

She gets a small headache and goes back inside. When her parents summon her they notice her eyes are no longer brown but the same red from the window. She's sent to her room and kinda festers til she escapes (cue present day prologue, Diamond age 10)

OH THEN WHEN SHE RUNS OFF, she gets possessed with her great grandfather's power and is able to ward off gaurds that were chasing her. She stumbles into Sorrel's tavern and faints

At some point, she has to join the party, and Diamond starts to question if her bias against undine is as justified as she previously thought.

By the end of her time with them, Diamond realizes Cynthia just needs a soul, its not her fault she was born that way, and undine don't kill men, its a curse bore by men who marry then become unfaithful.

While Cynthia didn't wed Sorrel, he's promised her to do his best to find her a soul.

idk if youre open to suggestions irt Things To Watch, but maybe try mairimashita! iruma kun. its a demon comedy with action and romance elements. protag is kinda like izuku, a boy who had a rough childhood but is Very Kind And Sweet. honestly i watched it bc i was. in the same boat as u are so i just watched the first thing with a cute art style that seemed like mental popcorn. but i finished it and i was like Fuck so i read the manga (translation is behind but they upload twice a week)

favourite tropes

when the person that the mc is married to is rumoured to be this tyrant esque shit, but ends up being as the mc gets to know them come to find out that they're partner is an absolute sweetheart.

when both are little shits to each other, but as they end up spending time together and slowly learn to love each other slow burn style.

childhood rivals put in an arranged marriage end up slowly falling in love with each other during it and seeing as well as acknowledging each others flaws. most of the time it's done like shit though, so i only like it when done right.

favourite character tropes

cold and ruthless mc who slowly gets their walls broken down by the love interest.

obnoxious little shit mc that has a personality and is not a mary/gary stue.

smart, cunning mc x himbo li.

hated clichés

any persephone and hades retellings. idk i just really don't like them, specially when they don't address the incest issue or change the myth in a way that addresses the incest issue within the story because aren't they cousins or hades is Persephone uncle? idk maybe im wrong but yeah i still don't like them, I just find that most authors don't do anything new with the myth, they just keep retelling the same story over and over and add smut to make up for the lack of actual depth of their story.

when the mc is a useless little bitch with no depth to them and who are not like other girls. And I don't mean learning how to fight because fighting doesn't give depth to a character, I mean them being resourceful in some way, whether it's intelligence, stealth, street smarts, sharp wit or maybe they're just a himbo with brute force who destroys everything in their path idk, but I hate it when the protagonist is just reactive for the majority of the story and doesn't do anything apart from reacting to what is happening, and we get told how great they are, but they actually never show it in the book. like just no. like pack it besties there's alrady a thousand carbon copies of these we don't need anymore. *not pointing fingers* *proceeds to look at sjm and most female mc's in ya/na*

any ml that has the same personality of any of sjm's mls. i just cannot. when the book with arranged marriage trope gets reccomdended as perfect for fans of acotar i will not read it, idc how interesting it sounds.

i am attempting to write (emphasis on the word attempt lol) an urban Sci-Fi fantasy IF about people with psychic abilities and this is just a fun project for me, so i was wondering if you had any favourite tropes/character archetypes/hated clichés in general when it comes to interactive fiction games. i'm kind of new to the whole thing so i would love to hear your thoughts.

Will have to disagree with you on the H/P retellings though, I do agree that there aren't a lot of good ones, but I'd be a hypocrite to disparage the entire idea of a retelling of that myth because I'm writing one :') I do think that people tend to fetishize the kidnapping/authority figure part and the goth daddy/flower little girl shit, which I absolutely despise and don't plan to include in my retelling for obvious reasons. I'm more about them being a goth power couple, about the actual seasons and the main point of the myth (explaining how the seasons came to be), making Persephone into a terrifying and morally ambiguous protag, and also making Demeter into a badass Mama Bear.

idk why i like horizon zero dawn as much as i do when it does so many things that i hate in open world games. the lv tree with skills that honestly should have just been part of the core gameplay from the start, the towers, the towns full of ppl but barely any npcs to talk to, the assassin creed/uncharted style auto climbing, etc.

i think maybe the world design and combat is just able to negate all that for me. frankly fighting npcs in it isn't anything special, nor are the majority of convos with them. but the mech fights are great and the care put into building the lore and the world makes me feel like im actually some sort of YA fantasy protag.
