Here's what I'm thinking about on this fine evening: Ketterdam has a HUGE CANAL SYSTEM that runs pretty much through the entire city and I, somehow, completely missed that.
Here's the Ketterdam map, right? We know her. We love her.
Tumblr media
BUT, let's zoom in a little:
Tumblr media
You can see very clearly here that those thicker, darker colored lines connect distinctly into the harbor, which means that they are ALSO WATER.
So, if a person with a Six of Crows obsession and maybe a little too much time on their hands were to take that map and color it so that all of the water was blue, it would look something like this:
Tumblr media
Now, I may just be stupid, but I'd like to believe there is at least one other person who will be as baffled upon seeing this post as I was when I made this realization. It's water!! Canals are a major form of transportation in Ketterdam!! This not only is very interesting to me in regards to Ketterdam’s culture, but it also changed the way I pictured the city in my head. This is life-changing stuff, people.

When will we start acknowledging that Wylan suggesting to wake the unconscious guards up before killing them isn't actually ruthlessness but blunt logic because he's taken Jesper's "I'm not big on killing unconscious men" at face value and responds accordingly since he has a very literal thinking pattern? When will we start acknowledging that this is autism?

The world would be a better place if all men were like Jesper Fahey
Let me elaborate. So.
One thing that's always irked me is that many men see women as potential partners first and as individual human beings with valuable thoughts second. They evaluate whether she's attractive or not, whether she's worth keeping around- if she's not willing to enter a relationship at some point in the future, she's not. It's becoming so blatantly clear when you see how many men complain about the "friendzone" because they simply cannot fathom being friends with a woman and spending time without the promise of sex or a relationship.
Then we have Jesper Fahey. He flirts with just about everyone and he's an absolute whore, and of course he compliments women and evaluates whether he finds them attractive or not, it's normal; but he's able to keep women around AS FRIENDS. He compliments Nina's looks the very first time he sees her, but he doesn't need or expect a relationship with her. They're just buddies, they value each other, and they value each other's thoughts and ideas. Sure, you could say it's because he knows that she and Matthias have a weird thing going on, but if he didn't respect her as a human being the way so many flirtcoaches (🤢🤮) do, he'd talk to Matthias more than to her, and only talk to her if it's necessary since she's taken and not part of "the game" anymore. That's not the case. Nina didn't suddenly become invisible for him just because he knew a fling was off the table.
And Inej? He LOVES her in the most platonic way and it's beautiful. They have such an unbreakable bond, and at no point of it does Jesper see the metaphorical unattainable carrot dangled in front of his face when it comes to her.
Hell, he's literally stuck in the "brotherzone" with Kaz, who he canonically has a crush on, but does he complain?? NO, this is good enough for him, because he cares about and values the men and women in his life, whether they're attractive to him or not, OUTSIDE of what they can do for him. He sees them as PEOPLE. Not as assecoires that elevate his status as a man.
He's the prime example of "You can be a player without disrespecting women". I want a friend like Jesper Fahey.

🚨CROOKED KINGDOM SPOILER ALERT!!! 🚨
I’m once again thinking about how genius it was of Leigh Bardugo to kill off Muzzen near the start of Crooked Kingdom, simultaneously foreshadowing Matthias’ death and leaning us away from thinking it would happen

the crows as candy
wylan: pop rocks (sweet but also make things go boom)
jesper: ring pop (flashy fashionista with a gaudy sense of style)
kaz: black licorice (bitter and not for everyone but the people who love him LOVE him)
inej: chocolate (smooth, adaptable, impossible to hate)
nina: chili-covered mango lollipop (hot and spicy (especially at first), bold and passionate at her core)
matthias: banana laffy taffy (tough, sweet, bad sense of humor, needs to leave his warped reality to find out what an actual goddamn banana tastes like)

Love how the Six of Crows spin-off is probably just sitting in Netflix’s drafts rn and they’re just sadistically laughing as we scramble to give them more views even though they know there’s no way it can’t happen

The argument that "well of course they had to include all those important crow moments even if they don't make sense, they need to drum up excitement for season 3!!!" is genuinely so funny to me. Like, 'they had to make the story bad so they could make more of it!' you're so close bestie

Jesper: Just be yourself.
Kaz: Really? Jesper, I have one day to win over Inej’s parents. How long did it take all of you to like me?
Wylan: A couple of weeks.
Nina: Six months.
Matthias: Jury’s still out.
Kaz: See, Jesper? ‘Just be yourself’? What kind of garbage advice is that?!

more on lockwood and co au
grisha are the types of people with powers to be able to actually do things with the dead.
the three orders (and what id imagine they do in a lockwood and co inspired world, amenable as my thoughts progress):
corporalki, they can manipulate and make the ghosts do things, to a certain extent (and sometimes to people as well)
etherealki, they can summon ghosts (tho who’d wanna do that 👀) and idk commune with them to a certain extent?
materialki, they can make materials that can hurt and capture ghosts easier and faster than a non-materialki can. heavily convetted and exploited

my thoughts on season two
SPOILERS!!
while yes, it's obvious that it was rushed, and they included crooked kingdom rather than giving the crows a new plot line. however, overall, I enjoyed this season immensely. once you accept the fact that the show and the books are their own stories, you learn to enjoy them each in their own way. there are things that they could have handled better, like Inej's trauma and the ways they wrapped everything up in episode 8, but you can't let the few aspects that they should have improved on change your opinion of the entire season. there were so many amazing parts. some really good representation, WONDERFUL fight scenes, and beautiful relationships. of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but i hope you appreciate the hard work everyone put into this season, and acknowledge the fact that things are going to be different from the books, that's simply how it goes.

Has anyone said how all the crows , with the probably exception of Nina, are so  villain coded?
